Book Description
John Hagee tells the story to both the Christian and the Jew of the assassination of Yitzah Rabin, the Prime Minister of Israel, and how this was one event foretold by the prophets. He addresses the Jew by explaining how according to God's Word this event has and will effect the choices they make as a people and a nation. He calls Christians to be courageous, for God is in control. As someone who knew Prime Minister Rabin, he helps all to recognize the price of peacekeeping.

John Hagee must be mad.......2007-08-25
I tried to read this trash-book almost 10 years ago. This book is only garbage.Don't waste your time or money, reading this trash-book.
Nuts.......2005-07-27
This book is just more of Hagee spewing about the end of the world and how Muslims, Arabs, blah blah blah are all evil. He's a dimwitted lunatic, but this book is recommended if you are, too!
Be Open, But Think For Yourself.......2004-01-30
Beginning of the End is a fascinating look at where the world is heading in relationship to the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. A vague sort of marker on the timeline of earth's predetermined destiny. He does a fairly decent job of using previously fulfilled prophecies to prove the veracity of the Bible, and then goes on to give his educated opinion of how the end times might play out. While Hagee offers much to learn and ponder, no self-respecting person, especially a Christian, should take his word to be infallible. Read the book, do your own study and research, and come to your own conclusions. As Hagee himself states in the book, most of it doesn't really even matter for Christians because we won't be here when it happens anyway.
A look at Biblical prophecy, with a touch of speculation..........2003-07-09
John Hagee's book "Beginning of the End" attempts to provide its reader with a vivid illustration of the chronology and events of the end-times according to the prophets of the Bible. The book serves as perfect complimentary reading to other books on the subject from authors like Tim LaHaye, Hal Lindsey, and Grant Jeffery. The historical notes and Biblical commentary add real value to this book, as readers will pick up on certain ideas never mentioned in similar books. For its overall explanation of the end times, this book merits a five-star rating.
However, I rate the book four-stars because of its emphasis on the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin as a major end-time event. The author goes as far as to make the book's subtitle, "The Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the Coming Antichrist". And throughout the book, Hagee speculates that Rabin's assassination will cause the Israeli people to charge headfirst into a "peace at any price" movement, which he believes is a forerunner to the Tribulation and the arrival of the Antichrist.
Seven years after this book was written, Israeli and its neighbors are no closer to peace than before, and Rabin's assassination has not assured the "land for peace" doctrine a political victory in Israel. Although I can see the merit of Hagee's work, those unfamiliar with the subject of Biblical prophecy will view his speculations as further evidence that such views are those of "kooks", conspiracy theorists, and wackos. They will point out the seemingly endless history of false speculations made by the Christian community and fail to take end-times prophecy as a serious subject. Speculation should be reserved for fiction, and that's why this is a four-star book...

An Excellent Profile of the End Times.......2000-09-30
When I first started reading Pastor Hagee's book "The beginning of the End", I must admit it was a little slow in the beginning. However, it picked up rapidly after that and I couldn't put the book down. This book will give any reader a clear understanding of events of the end times. For believers it brings great hope to know the church will be taken out before the horrible world events take place. Glory! I highly recommend this book; I recently bought this book for someone else. If you're into reading books, don't overlook this one!

Book Description
The three shots fired into the back of Israel’s prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin, on the night of November 4, 1995, were a blow to Israel’s social body. The shock, horror, and pain caused by the murder found direct and overwhelming expression at the funeral and memorial ceremonies held in Jerusalem, attended by most of the world’s leaders.
This book deals with the social and political developments in Israel in the painful process of decolonization from the occupied territories, following the late 1980s Palestinian Intifada and its aftermath. Fifteen distinguished contributors from a range of disciplinary viewpoints—historical, psychological, anthropological, political, and cultural—survey the various reactions to the assassination and analyze its ramifications and repercussions, creating a powerful mosaic of Israel with the assassination at its center.
The fear that the murder would lead to civil war did not materialize. In fact, with hindsight it seems that the prime minister was a scapegoat, a victim of a deeply divided society split not only over the issue of peace with its neighbors but, more profoundly, over the construction of Israel’s collective identity and consciousness. The assassination showed how easy it is for religious fundamentalists to ignore democratic rules and how militant nationalists will resort to violence to prevent the surrender of parts of the Holy Land.
The strength of these elements of society was manifested in the general elections of 1996, when Rabin’s adherents lost to the nationalist-clerical group. Paradoxically, the reaction to the assassination also revealed Israel’s growing desire to pursue the peace process, and when Prime Minister Netanyahu failed to do so, he was replaced before his term ended. Less than four years after the assassination, the Israelis put the reigns of government back into the hands of Rabin’s successors, who promised to continue in his path.
With the road to peace lengthy, painful, and hazardous, have the fanatics learned a lesson from the aftermath of Rabin’s murder? Will he be the last victim? Will Israeli democracy survive the agony of shrinking to the tiny size of the pre-1967 boundaries? Will Israeli society develop into a Western democratic and enlightened model, or will it become a reactionary, ethnocentric, xenophobic backwater? This volume does not propose definitive answers to these questions, but it reflects on them in very thoughtful and knowledgeable ways.
Book Description
The assassination of Yitzhak Rabin in November of 1995--one year after he shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Yasir Arafat--sent shock waves around the world. Known as both a man of war and of peace, the Jerusalem-born Israeli prime minister played a key role in developing the Jewish state and was instrumental in establishing peace in the Middle East. Yitzhak Rabin's memoirs, first published in 1979 but long out of print, are now available in this expanded edition. They provide a candid appraisal of significant events in Israeli history, and passages censored when the memoirs were first published have been restored. The addition of an afterword by Rabin's political advisor, Yoram Peri, and his most important speeches given after 1979 round out Rabin's life and show the evolution of his beliefs.
Rabin writes of his years in the Haganah (the independent Jewish military) and gives a controversial account of the War of Independence. He details the tactical moves that made him a hero in the Six Day War and recalls his years as ambassador to the United States. He tells of his difficult decision to authorize the 1976 rescue of hijacked hostages from the Entebbe airport. Rabin describes the conflicts that eventually led to his party's defeat after thirty years in power, and he concludes with a shrewd assessment of the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty and of prospects for peace with Israel's other neighbors, including the Palestinians.
Yitzhak Rabin's memoirs are important not only for the insider's view they offer about Israel and the Middle East, but also for providing a very human portrait of a heroic world leader.
From the book:"Most of you watched that ceremony on the White House lawn with mixed emotions, many of you grinding your teeth. I knew that the hand outstretched to me . . . was the same hand that held the knife, that held the gun, the hand that gave the order to shoot, to kill. Of all the hands in the world, it was not the hand that I wanted or dreamed of touching. . . . On that world stage, I stood as the representative . . . of a state that is willing to give peace a chance. As I have said, one does not make peace with one's friends. One makes peace with one's enemy."--Jerusalem, December 1993

Flawed Autobiography about A Flawed Man.......2005-05-30
Yitzhak Rabin is a truly tragic figure in the history of the Jewish people. Here was a man, while having many good qualities had deep, even fatal character flaws that allowed him both to play a major role in bringing about Israel's great victory in the Six-Day War of June 1967 and yet, at the same time, bringing about his own destruction while leaving his country in a perilous
state as a result of his disastrous Oslo agreement of 1993.
Unfortunately, like almost all the autobiographies of Israel's famous leaders, this book is self serving and does not really give one a good idea of what really happened.
For example, Rabin completely skips over Israel's War of Independence in 1948 when he had the important position of commander of the Har'el Brigade which played an important role in the battles for Jerusalem. The reason is that he showed for the first time during the war his inability to function under pressure and it is believed that he fled the battlefield at a critical juncture, but it was decided to hush up the matter. Rabin was a member of the "Dor HaPalmach", i.e. the generation of the Palmach (pre-state elite military force). These people fought hard and contributed much but this gave them a feeling of priviledge which led them in later years to behave arrogantly and for those who entered politics to show contempt for Israel's democratic system-Ariel Sharon's dictatorial behavior being the latest example (although Sharon was not in the Palmach, but he did joint the military elite in the 1950's).
Rabin played a major role in preparing the Israeli Army for its lightening victory in 1967, but once again, he suffered a nervous collapse before the war, and did not (as I understand it) play an important role in its execution.
Rabin, who was thrust basically unqualified into the Prime Minister's office in 1974, mainly for the reason that he was out of Israel during the Yom Kippur war, was unprepared for the job. He was the first of a long line of military men to become Prime Minister, and he showed all the flaws of this group, arrogance, contempt for democracy, and corruption. These men have led Israel into a dead-end situation, because many people blindly think that "generals are good leaders" whereas the reality is that they are the worst leaders, since their whole career they give orders and have no patience with the give and take of politics.
Rabin, in the book spews out harsh criticism of his long-term
rival Shimon Peres, but in his second term (1992-1995) which is not covered in his book, he allowed this dangerous man to lead him around by the nose, forcing the Oslo Agreements on him against his better judgement, again due to his weak personality.
All of this ended in the tragedy of his assassination as the SHABAK (Israeli internal security agency) which was supposed to be under Rabin's personal supervision, went on a rampage using provacoteurs to discredit the Labor Party's rivals, locating a potential assassin and then giving him free access to Rabin at the fateful gathering on November 4, 1995. (For those of you who are skeptical, please note the official Shamgar Commission inquiry into the assassination noted that the assassin's closest companion in the months before the murder was a SHABAK provacoteur). A very tragic ending for a complex, talented, but flawed man.
Yitzak Rabin Was A Man Of Peace.......2004-05-31
Yitzak Rabin was a great leader. This man wanted to lead Israel to a time of peace. This book gives one a great deal of information about this amazing leader, the country he loved so dearly, and the effort he and his family made to improve life in their country. Too bad a madman had to take his life. Rabin's story is amazing from beginning to the tragic end.

Book Description
History has proven that public officials have not always been honest with their constituencies. Is deception always justifiable for the sake of national security or is it a mere guise for something more insidious?
In the shadow of the largest peace rally in Israel's history - Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin walked to his car under the protection of Israel's Secret Service (Shabak). What really transpired thereafter has perplexed the Rabin family, Israel, and the world
-Who really murdered Yitzhak Rabin?
-Was it Yigal Amir? Did he act alone?
-From which direction was the bullet fired?
-Was this a breach of security or worse?
-Why were shouts of "blanks" heard?
-Was there a cover-up by the Shabak?
Is this another conspiracy theory or is the truth stranger than fiction? Lies: Israel's Secret Service and the Rabin Murder is the behind-the-scenes story of lies and on-going deception by the Shabak that asks poignant questions, provides some answers, and demands more.
These questions beg for a reinvestigation into the murder of Yitzhak Rabin as well as a reassessment of the role of the Shabak in Israeli society.
Customer Reviews:
Indeed, beneath contempt!.......2003-11-04
As one who lives in Israel, recalls the live radio and TV broadcasts of that night and the newspaper details the next day, Dr. Morrison's book is indeed an eye opener into what most other people simply glanced over, chose to ignore as irreleant in the first place or have gone into denial about, simply because the consequences of inspecting the facts are potentially earth shattering and scandalous.
Unlike Barry Chamish's earlier book on the same subject, this book is footnoted with the precise sources of information, most of them readily available to the general public.
Even Rabin's daughter, in an interview several years ago to the Israeli Woman's magazine "La'Isha", stated at the time that there are questions regarding the events of the night of the assasination that are blatantly not answered by the official storyline.
Other than attempts to smear Dr. Morrison, this book has yet to be contradicted or have its questions resolved. If you haven't heard of the book until now, it's because so many people would wish it would just disappear.
It is indeed beneath contempt that the Israel government and left wing press have stifled the issues brought up and have caused a complacent and exhausted Israeli public to long ago forget what they themselves said and reported at the time.
Beneath contempt.......2001-07-04
This is yet another in a series of authors who try to twist history to prove that "Rabin was not murdered by the extreme right and even if he was, he brought it upon himself". We have certain words for enemies of the Jews who say similar things about our six million murdered brethren. Unfortunately the menu does not allow me to give it "minus five stars".
LIES FROM THE TOP DOWN!.......2000-06-13
This book will infuriate, frustrate and frighten you -- but it is a 'must read!' It proves beyond a doubt that the Rabin assassination was much more complicated than has been presented. Crucial evidence was lost, tampered with, or stolen. Doctors' reports disagree. The book leaves the reader with haunting questions. David Morrison, a practicing psychiatrist in the United States for 20 years before moving to Israel, joins a growing number of authors who are challenging the official version of who, how and why the late Prime Minister of Israel was killed. Despite attempts by Israeli politicians, the media, and book distributors to suppress alternative opinions, the disturbing questions will not go away. Even the family of Yitzhak Rabin have publicly voiced their doubts and disbelief.
One of the most important contributions of this book is to place the assassination in context -- a deliberate and sustained official attempt to destroy the opposition. The police, the Secret Service ("Shabak"), and other institutions of government maintained a systematic attempt to discredit and undermine the settler movement and its supporters. The plot involved Ministers and the Attorney General's office, one of whom is now on the Israeli Supreme Court. Rabin's tenure in office may have been one of the greatest threat to Israeli democracy.
Morrison carefully shows that the Shabak had been caught lying to official commissions of inquiry during the previous administration of Yitzhak Shamir. But the real shift came with Rabin's appointment of Carmi Gillon to head the organization. With opposition to his policies growing, and his popularity slipping dangerously, Rabin saw that the real threat to his policies was from the Right -- Israeli settlers and their supporters. Gillon's war against the settler movement involved recruiting agents to infiltrate their communities and engage in provocative acts, including violence. One of these agents was Avishai Raviv, who is currently on trial in Israel, although all the proceedings are closed.
Raviv set up phony "terrorist" organizations, attacked and claimed responsibility for killing Arabs, and incited violence. His activities, although known by the government, elicited arrests and wide-spread attacks in the media against the Right wing opposition and the settler movement. It was Raviv who lured Yigal Amir into his cult and encouraged him to kill Yitzhak Rabin.
Morrison presents a number of disturbing contradictions in the official version of Rabin's death, and the events surrounding that tragic event. There are major discrepancies in doctors' descriptions of Rabin's wounds, and their locations. The official autopsy report indicates that Rabin's spine was unhurt, while all other doctors that examined him noted that his spine was shattered.
Yoram Rubin, Rabin's bodyguard testified that he was shot by Amir. His clinical report shows that he was only treated for superficial wounds. Leah, Rabin's wife, was told by Shabak agents at the time not to worry because Amir was only shooting blanks. There is no explanation for the absolute breakdown in security surrounding the Prime Minister. There are contradictions in ballistic evidence. The bullets that were recovered were missing for 11 hours between the time of the murder until their mysterious arrival at the police station. Moreover, the bullets do not appear to have been fired from Amir's weapon.
Was it a "sting" operation -- an attempt to discredit the right-wing -- gone awry? A conspiracy gone wrong? Or an insider "hit?" One of the things I learned from the murder mysteries I've seen in movies is the detectives always ask: who stood to gain the most?

Although she is only 19, Noa Ben Artzi-Pelossof's memoir covers a wealth of stirring and tragic experience. From the chaotic impact of war to the comfort of her family and community, she writes about her youth in a country torn from within and without, culminating in the assassination of her grandfather, Yitzhak Rabin, Prime Minister of Israel.
Book Description
"Grandfather, you were the pillar of fire in front of the camp and now we are left in the camp alone, in the dark . . . . Grandfather, you were and still are our hero."
When Noa Ben Artzi-Pelossof spoke at the funeral of her grandfather Yitzhak Rabin, she touched the world's heart. She does so again, in this deeply moving memoir and plea for peace.
A stirring voice from yet another Israeli generation living in turmoil and in danger, Noa, at age 19, reflects on her life to date: a childhood scarred by tragedy and rescued by her family's love; a constant fear--fed by random bombings- for the lives of relatives and friends; the chaotic impact of war--Lebanon, the Intifada, the Gulf War; the hate from outside, and now from within, Israel. Noa talks of her grandfather's assassin and the extremists who nourished his violence.
She shares her precious memories of her grandfather, with whom she lived until the age of six and to whom she remained close for the rest of his life. She offers insights into his transformation from soldier to leader to peacemaker, his courageous determination to change the course of the Middle East conflict, and the steps he took in search of a lasting peace for future generations of Israelis. Noa speaks to him, and to the world.
A book that is pure, passionate, and unfailingly honest -- and goes straight to the heart.
From the Hardcover edition.

A moving memoir and tribute.......2003-08-07
Noa Ben Artzi-Pelossof is a terrific writer. This book helps the reader get a sense of what Prime Minister Rabin was like as a person, and persuasively argues for pursuing peace despite the most difficult of challenges.
Sentimenal.......2003-06-09
This book was defintely written by a person who has truly lost someone she loves..her grandfather. I come from a country where virtually any news on israel or her inhabitants is censored. So a book that introduces Yizthak Rabin, even as a loving husband, father and grandfather not to mention a great statesman is a book worth reading.
Briefly, the author introduces you to her family generally and to her grandfather specifically giving you details on how the man was like seen through the eyes of his family. It touches on the peace process, the conflict in the middle-east and even the military life that young israelis go through.
All in all, I would recommend it for an easy read although I must warn all readers that this book might inspire you to find our more about Mr. Yitzhak Rabin and what he stood for.
An amazing book.......2002-02-11
I was 15 when Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated. I remember the great sorrow that was shown in the newspapers and on the television. No one could believe it had happened.
Yitzhak Rabin has always been of great interest to me, and this wonderful book tells an amazing and courageous story. Noa Ben Artzi-Pelossof, Rabin's only granddaughter, tells the story of her grandfather's life as she saw it. She refers to Rabin throughout the book as Saba, the Hebrew word meaning Grandpa. Some of the tales she tells are quite humerous; others are heart-wrenching.
Some might say that this biography is likely to be biased, as it is written by someone who was extremely close to the subject; whether it is or it isn't (I personally believe the latter), this is a book well worth reading. It is the story of a soldier, a politician, a world leader, and most improtantly, a devoted grandfather.
A truly wonderful piece of literature, worthy of a five-star rating.
Touching? Sounds like a show to me..........2000-09-04
Although this book gives some good insights into the Rabin family and the murder, I hate to say it, but it feels like it was written for the money. I understand that she is a granddaughter, but it is no excuse for the extreme melodramaticism and tangible hatred...I came out from reading the book with a very bad taste in my mouth! Sorry!
The best book you could ever imagine.......2000-05-10
I read this book for a school project and it made such an impact on me. I think that Ms. Artzi-Pelossof is an incredible author and I think she is so brave for being able to write about her grandfather. Thank you, Noa!

Book Description
For more than 50 years, Yitzhak Rabin, Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Israel, had a direct impact on the political, social and economic fabric of the Jewish State. Unfortunately, from the time that Rabin joined the Palmach, until his assassination in 1995, he accumulated one security failure after another.
Even so, most people view the late Israeli Prime Minister and Defense Minister and the Chief-of-Staff during the Six Day War of 1967 as a wise and courageous leader. In The Rabin File - An Unauthorized Expose, Dr. Uri Milstein delves into Rabin's military performance - from his early involvement in the militia in 1941 to his assassination in 1995 - and reveals for the first time Rabin's controversial security biography.
By vigilantly investigating Rabin, presenting him as a personified reflection of the political and military culture of the State Israel, this riveting and thought-provoking book explains how little children were able to chase the mighty Israeli Defense Forces from the Gaza Strip; how the Hizbullah defeated the IDF in Southern Lebanon; and how Israel turned from a strategic ally of the United States to an American economic burden.
Dr. Milstein researches the principles of military philosophy and war as a means of understanding the behavior of individuals and their civilizations. As a writer and a historian he is neither bashful nor deterred by controversy. His provocative studies and books on the Israeli War of Independence, the Yom Kippur War and the Israeli Paratroopers have earned him much publicity in Israel and abroad.

SOBERING.......1999-07-14

potential classic historiography and far-reaching appraisal.......1999-05-06
This book could and should be read as a sample of a very important revision and as such as a piece of far- reaching historiography. It shows the pivotal role myth making plays in contemporary politics and highlights the need for a search for truth and how far actually this has been lacking. Implicitly the reader can detect the degree to which superficiality has taken over from properly founded research in the creation of standardised interpretation. Therefore the book, as an expose, is something special academically. It is a product of the willingness to question 'orthodox' opinion and to research in detail and to document fearlessly. Therefore author and publisher are to be congratulated on being willing to allow scholarship to advance by the production of a book that spells out in no uncertain terms just what may well be the terrible truth about the 'real' Rabin. In the light of the eulogies about him this brave appraisal is all the more important. Truth is a casualty through death as well as war: President Kennedy's status changed as a result of his assassination and the same to some degree may be true of Rabin. But this change may be anything but beneficial for the way in which Israel runs its democratic processes and understands its position vis a vis its neighbours' intentions. With Rabin neither the master strategist nor 'Mr Security' much is open to question and needs to be. This book starts everyone thinking differently. And it does so with diligence and thoroughness.
a harsh and unsparing portrayal of Rabin.......1999-04-15
Uri Milstein is unique among the new historians because his focus on the events of the War of Independence also pays major attention to Yitzhak Rabin's conduct and leadership. The same commander receives much less attention from the other new historians. This book portrays Rabin harshly and unsparingly as a weak-minded uncultured chain-smoking drinker, and as a coward who was promoted despite his many leadership failures in battle. In writing such a deep-level criticism of Yitzhak Rabin (a new martyr and an internationally famous symbol of Israeli-Arab peace agreements), Uri Milstein takes on a deeply entrenched Israeli Labor party political-academic myth-defending juggernaut. Whether he has written the truth or not might be disputed, but there is no question that Milstein's career has suffered as a result of his negative Rabin appraisals. This book deserves reading and attention unless its claims can be disproven by other historians...which so far as this writer knows, has not occurred. In the book Uri Milstein does write about denials and threats by other scholars and political figures to sue him for libel...but according to Milstein, such suits were never brought to court. It may be that denials were issued, and negative realities ignored, in order to protect Rabin's legend. In his book, Milstein provides not one instance (Rabin's commonly-known collapse in the Six-day War), but a pattern, of Yitzhak Rabin collapsing mentally or taking naps during military crises or of his fleeing from battle when things turned to the worse (leaving his men behind under the most desperate circumstances). According to Milstein, Rabin's failures were covered by his fellow Palmachnics for the sake of their own political and military survival, even as they themselves felt perplexed by his lack of leadership. If anything, this book raises an alarm by showing the possible dangers to a nation brought about by a political myth-making apparatus which turns a human being into a legend or symbol. In order for such a symbol or myth to exist, truths must be ignored or forgotten. If what Uri Milstein has written is true, it is also probable that much of Israel and the world would not want to hear about it.
Excellent book. Brings to light the real character of Rabin........1999-04-09
In this book, "The Rabin File", Dr. Milstein shatters the myth of Yitzhak Rabin, "Mr. Security" - the nickname that brought him to power in the '92 Israeli elections. Almost everyone who follows Israeli and middle eastern politics wonders what brought "Mr. Security" to sign the Oslo agreement that took Israel back to the days of the war of independece in 1948. It is even more preplexing if we consider the political background of this move which is the defeat of the IDF (the Israeli army) by the hands of stone throwing children of the Arab "Intifada". Milstein's book starts us on the path to the explanations of these two events.
"The Rabin File" is a biography of Rabin. It begins with Rabin's childhood as an unwanted child of an extreme communist agitator in Haifa. It continues to describe Rabin's career as an officer in the Hagana (the jewish semi-underground defense forces during the days of the British mandate in Palestine) where he distinguished himself as a reliable tool in the hands of the leaders of the jewish institutions who used him for actions against the opposition. To them (his leaders) Rabin most important characteristic was his total misunderstnding of military issues and his servility.
Dr. Milstein then describes the battles in which Rabin participated or commanded. The climax is the story of a convoy to Jerusalem which Rabin commanded. When the convoy entered an Arab ambush Rabin fled for his dear life. The rest of his brigade's operations he commanded from a safe distance, usually in his HQ in Jerusalem.
Dr. Milstein uses Rabin's biography to demonstrate the character of the IDF and the general "survival principle" that he develops more deeply in his other books. But even without any knowledge of this principle, this book is most important as it brings to light the real character of Rabin, creator of the Oslo agreement. I can hardly wait for the second part of Rabin's biography that will cover his life from '48 till his murder in '92.
AUTHORýS COMMENT.......1999-03-05
DR. URI MILSTEIN P. O. Box 9003, Ramat Ef'al, 52190 Israel, Tel: 972-3 -6351062, Fax: 972- 3- 5351012 E-mail: urimilsh@inter.net.il AUTHOR'S COMMENT My book, "The Rabin File - An Unauthorized Expose", originally appeared in Hebrew, in April 1995, half a year before Rabin's assassination. As any reader will discover, I have described in detail the military activities of Rabin, including his flight from the battlefield as a brigade commander in Israel's War of Independence in 1948, and argued that Rabin knew nothing about army reality and the military ethos, and that he had actually failed in all his activities in this area. The most dramatic vindication of my argument was provided by his very assassination: half a year after his murder, a National Inquiry Commission headed by Supreme Court Justice Me'ir Shamgar determined that the General Security Service, whose responsibility it was to protect the Prime Minister, had failed in its performance, and that the entire intelligence apparatus and the system for ensuring the Prime Minister's safety had been woefully flawed. Prime Minister Rabin was directly in charge of the activities of the GSS, so that this awful failure was not only that of then-head of the GSS, Carmi Gillon, but of Rabin himself. Which means that Yitzhak Rabin was one of those responsible for the success of his murderer. I said this in the Israeli media immediately after his assassination. The result: my book about Rabin was banned in Israel, the bookstores refused to carry it, historians and intellectuals refused to relate to it and to discuss it in the newspapers, on the radio or on TV, my employ at Bar Ilan University and the College of Judaea and Samaria was terminated, and I could not secure any position in any Israeli university. From that time on, I have had no permanent employment or steady income. This attitude towards me supports one of the main theses of the theory that I have developed in my work, "The General Theory of Security -- The Survival Principle" (which also appeared in English( namely, that the security setup has become a religion, and most people regard army generals as superior God-like personalities immune to criticism. Thus, the security framework is anti-intellectual; processes of drawing practical lessons and correction of errors do not exist in it, and it functions at a dangerously low level. These shortcomings became apparent in the American army in the Vietnam War and in the Soviet army in Afghanistan, and have now surfaced in the IDF in its war with the Hizbullah in South Lebanon. Conclusion: Only our ability to critically analyze the performance of generals and statesmen like Yitzhak Rabin can enable us to understand the military ethos and army reality, improve the security systems of the democratic countries, and avert the danger of terrorist activity that makes use of nonconventional means, which, more than any other factor, poses a threat to Western culture. Book Description
This is a collection of articles, poems, and pictures to commemorate the murder of Yitzhak Rabin. It also contains some of Rabin's own speeches, as well as quotations. This anthology shows that Rabin was one of the great leaders who turned from war to peace - and paid for his courage with his life. However, he succeeded to sow the seeds of hope for peace in the Middle East.

Yitzhak Rabin: Leader of Peace.......2000-12-28
This excellent book in the memory of Yitzhak Rabin, published by IFLAC: PAVE PEACE - The Internatioonal Forum for the Culture of Peace, is an eye opener honoring this great leader of peace. It gives an inner view and deep insights into hitherto unpublished aspects of the life and values of Yitzhak Rabin, as for instance, the quoting of his wise words and yearnings for peace, alongside those of other great generals who wished for peace more than anything else in their lives - such as Eisenhower, Marshall and Sadat. This book demonstrates that though we are nuclear giants, we are still infants culturally and ethically.
We should be grateful to the editor-in-chief, Professor Ada Aharoni; for this important collection - GALIM 8 WAVES Anthology, for its richness and excellent choice of subjects.
The book is in English and Hebrew, and some Arabic, and it includes precious information about IFLAC, a new NGO that promotes Peace in the Middle East and in our global village through the building of Cultural Bridges qnd Communications in the spirit of Rabin. An important book for all ages, for libraries; and for Peace Studies. Highly recommended! I also recommend GALIM - WAVES 9, a further unforgettable universal experience.
