Book Description
Sequel to Ghost, Kildar, Choosers of the Slain and Unto the Breach.
Heart-sick over the deaths of so many of his Keldara followers, and one in particular, former SEAL Mike Harmon, hero of Ghost, Kildar and Choosers of the Slain, decides to sit this one out. WMDs headed for the US no longer matter to the Kildar. But when his best friend and intel specialist both are seriously wounded in an ambush aimed at him, the Kildar gets his gameface back on. Mike has always said that he's not a nice guy, and he's about to prove it to a boatload of terrorists and Colombian drug dealers. Set in the Bahamas and Florida Keys, A Deeper Blue is a fast moving thriller that never slows down from the first page. With the return of some old faces, the action-packed novel proves, once again, the adage that sometimes it takes some very bad people to do good things.

A Deeper Blue.......2007-10-01
Usually no one does military tech better than Ringo, but this latest installment in The Ghost series shows that this one has probably run its course. A little too much testosterone also.
Great addition to the series.......2007-09-29
I hope he continues this series for a lot of books, since it is the best military fiction currently. Yes, politically it is pure fantasy (no country including the US would support the heor to this degree) and his heroes are larger than life in the abilities department, but at least they are very real characters and the sexual aspect of the BDSM top as the hero is both politically incorrect (and great) as well as original and realistic.
Ringo's music tips could do with some spicing up with additional musical styles though, but at least he adds music suggestions at the end of the book..
Apart from his excellent tradecraft, he has created a new subgenre with the Ghost series which deserves a lot of praise on its own. I prefer it even to his over the top SF novels.
A Deeper Blue, and the Ghost series.......2007-08-27
Mr. Ringo gives us an excellent military action series as always. In the Ghost series he also shows the darker side of his hero, "Ghost" and the demons driving him. The military technical and action details are accurate and exciting, without too much social or political commentary. One of my favorite science fiction authors is now a favorite fiction provider!
Getting Better.......2007-08-14
One of the things I enjoy about this series is that it seems to be getting better and better as it goes along. In A Deeper Blue, Mike Harmon has been asked to recover VX from terrorists before it can go active in the US. Unfortunately, he is still hurting deeply over the loss of someone important (preventing snerks here) and refuses the assignment, instead sending Adams.
As you can imagine, Adams is entrapt and all hell breaks loose in Florida. Mike is forced to step in and use his gentle hand to destroy the terrorists before they can truly attack the one place in the world where it would crush the American spirit.
It's fast paced, exciting, and uses both the elements of a thriller with Ringo's touch of adventure and things that go boom. Excellent book.
Rippin Ringo does it again!.......2007-08-09
John Ringo has done it again. Another in his series of Rip snortin, bushwackin, boot stompen, and funny action adventure featuring the Kildar, aka Ghost. I refuse to spoil it for you, so you'll just have to buy the book and find out what happens. Worth your money. Seriously.

Book Description
Sequel to Ghost, Kildar and Choosers of the Slain.
Michael Harmon has been there and done that. Rescued co-eds, killed major terrorists, stopped nuclear assaults. Now he'd just like to kick back and relax with his harem of lovelies. Unfortunately, the world keeps turning. Mike and the Keldara are back tracking down terrorists, rogue Russian bio-scientists and the doomsday weapon to end all doomsday weapons. It's going to take some very tough, hard and nasty people to stop the end of the world. Fortunately, there's Mike Harmon. The Hero of Ghost, Kildar and Choosers of the Slain, along with his company of elite mountain fighters, is sent on a mission to stop an advanced smallpox plague from being turned over to terrorists. But that will only be the beginning as the Kildar and his Keldara rush to stop a host of WMD attacks, coordinated to take out the very heartland of terrorism's enemies. It's a battle for culture, and this time the terrorists aren't aiming at just one building. . . .

Appreciation of John Ringo........2007-07-20
I'm glad to see Ringo get out of the crotch novel attitude. Now if he could just quit the typical recruit use of excessive vulgarities; so when he does use them they actually mean something, that would be much better. I really enjoyed the action in this book but I wonder where Ringo is going to get replacements for his Keldera, he's going through them like free salted peanuts at a bar hosting a sergeants convention.Unto the Breach (Paladin of Shadows, Book 4)
Excellent, fast paced, exciting action.......2007-04-18
Once again John Ringo has added a great action book to this series. The action is explosive, the personal interactions between characters is how real people act when in extraordinary circumstances. This continuing saga should become a very favorite of Ringo's fans and action adventure readers for a long time.
Worth reading.......2007-03-16
John Ringo is a great writter I love his books and read them all over and over.
If you don't get it yet I HIGHLY recommend his books, All of them!
Great Book.......2007-03-09
I really enjoyed the latest book (and I hope not the last) of the "Kildar" series. Mike Jenkins and his Keldara fighters - both male and female - do a great job against seemingly insurmountable odds. A really exciting combat oriented book with just enough of Mike's diversions occuring to make the book balanced. A great read and as I say, I truly hope this is not the end of this series - the adventures are too good to stop now.
On a mission to thwart Armageddon........2007-03-05
Ringo's UNTO THE BREACH continues the saga in a new series: again Michael's looking to kick back from intrigue, espionage and violence - but a visit with the President leads to an unexpected assignment deep into Islamic terrorist strongholds, again on a mission to thwart Armageddon.
Book Description
Sequel to Ghost and Kildar.
Former SEAL Michael Harmon (Ghost, Kildar) has a pretty good life. He's settled down in the country of Georgia and built a solid commando-quality militia out of his local retainers. The Keldara have an ancient history of being first-class mountain warriors and all they needed was a few million in modern weapons and training to bring them up to speed. Now, with the Keldara keeping the area safe from Chechen raiders, and the various other terrorists that want Ghost's head on their wall, he can settle back, relax in his harem and drink a few beers. However, a US senator has a problem. A "major financial contributor's" daughter has been kidnapped into the labyrinthian depths of the Balkans sex-slave trade. The US government has been unable to find her and the Senator is _very_ interested in changing that condition. Five million dollars interested. As Ghost and his Keldara warriors blast a gaping hole through the middle of the trade, it quickly becomes apparent that there is more to the mission than a "poor missing waif." There's a rot underneath, and the stench is coming from the very floor of the Capitol. Being at war with Albanian gangs is one thing. Taking on Washington is a different ball game. But Ghost never believed in fighting fair.

Hitting Stride.......2007-09-04
This was an even better read than Kildar. I will definitely be recommending this series. Good action all around.
Paladin of Shadows.......2007-07-25
I think John Ringo has a hit here, just as he did with his other series. I enjoy the books and feel that John Ringo doeas a great amount of research during the writing process.
best of the series so far........2007-02-21
Great action with the added flair of the D&S. This book had more action and suspense than the 2nd book, and the depiction of the Eastern slave trade was fascinating, and sad.
Hey Ringo, what are you doing?.......2007-01-27
OK Ghost was great, Kildar was good, but this book is getting stupid. I did read it. It's still got enough killing, weapons, sex, and sluts to keep me happy, but Ringo needs to put the pipe down.
I enjoyed it........2007-01-10
In the continuing saga of ex-SEAL Mike Harmon, he gets mixed up in the mid-European sex trade. Serious damage ensues, to the bad guys of course. The places where the action occurs are unusual, and the basic premise is attractive. Who can hate a man who can out-fight and out-bedroom James Bond? Mature readers only.

A Combat Memoir of Vietnam.......2007-07-19
A sobering and provocative account of a difficult time in American History, where unparalled valor and dedication were the norm. American soldiers rose valiantly once again to our Nation's defense, but failed to receive the recognition and appreciation they deserved. The writer has captured that sacrifice and dedication in vivid detail reflecting that teamwork and courage are paramount in combat, whatever theater, whatever war, whatever cost. Well led, well trained and well equipped, the American soldier is "Army strong".
The Ultimate Warrior.......2007-05-01
Most war stories aren't as graphic but Doc Bahnsen holds nothing back. War is not a business for the untrained and it is well documented that Doc trained by example. Sissies need not apply. We could certainly use more no-nonsense men of this caliber in the 21st century. I have learned a lot from reading this excellent documentary and am proud to be able to say "I knew him when".....he was a cadet at West Point.

Meeting a Warrior.......2007-04-24
Doc Bahnsen is undoubtedly a hero in the history of the United States and of the Free World. He has all the credentials to document it. Yet there is another plane of magnificance in the manner and deportment of this retired officer and gentleman. I met him by chance and immediately sensed that I was honored to be in the presence of a great man.
I read his book and it confirmed my impression. Well written and organized in a clear and concise format, this work puts the reader in the fight with "Doc" and with those soldiers at his side whose comments and narration give the reader a 360 degree view of the action. In the the thick of the battle, in mid 60's Viet Nam,you're taking "point" with a man who placed himself in harm's way in front of his troops--he never asked anything he wouldn't do himself. His decorations are countless and his units had the highest proficiency ratings "in Country". This is the story of how he did it.A great read,a great account of one of the Army's awesome men,and a great lesson about things that matter in life.
To his credit ,General Bahnsen also shares his flaws and shortcomings. His willingness to expose himself to honest criticism is refreshing in today's cloying atmosphere of political correctness.Even these failings are shared and interpreted by those who were his partners in battle and R&R. How about stealing Col.George Patton Jr's two "holer" outhouse?
Buy the book, read the book, give it to your grown up and not so grown up children for a lesson in life! You won't be sorry.
An Army Legend's Own Vietnam Story.......2007-04-12
There have been hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of books written on the Vietnam War; however, all of them fail to make the deep historic impact that "American Warrior" does. I think the biggest reason for this book rising so far above the rest is Brig. Gen. John C. "Doc" Bahnsen, Jr. who along with his writing partner Wess Roberts give us a astounding personal account of Doc's two tours of duty in Vietnam (1965-66 & 1968-69).
Now the non-military public will also learn about this most remarkable man who is truly one of this nation's greatest warriors. The book moves like a man on a mission "walking point"! The reader will have no trouble becoming absorbed in Doc's combat experiences. If this were a novel no one would believe it! The man is one of those rare leaders much like General Patton was for WWII. He is bigger than life but ever so human.
The book tells it like was and the General holds little back. This is a bold accounting of a time long gone by when men who were great heroes were forgotten and ignored by our nation. Now they can read about one of those who honors the rest of us Vietnam Veterans!
This book is given The Military Writer's Society of America it highest rating of FIVE STARS! The story is a must read! I personal recommend this book! It is a nominee for the MWSA Founder's Award for 2007! Truly one of the best books ever written about Vietnam War! They just do not come much better!
Outstanding personal history.......2007-03-31
This is a well written and detailed personal memoir of the author's two tours in Viet Nam. The format - personal recollections by identified persons - interspersed with the author's first person narrative draws the reader into the action. Doc is a true warrior and, based on his actions, one of the luckiest SOBs on the planet. I consider myself fortunate to be one of Doc's classmates.

Book Description
Former SEAL Michael Harmon, Team Name "Ghost", retired for service injuries, is not enjoying college life. But things are about to change, if not for the better. When he sees a kidnapping a series of, at the time logical, decisions leave him shot to ribbons and battling a battalion of Syrian commandos with only the help of three naked co-eds who answer to the names "Bambi," "Thumper" and "Cotton Tail." A fast-paced, highly-sexual, military-action thriller that ranges from a poison facory in the Mideast to the Florida Keys to Siberia, the novel will keep you guessing what twisted fate will bring next for the man once known as . . . Ghost. Keep an eye on him or . . . poof, he'll be gone.

Part 1: Normal Shootem up. Part 2+3:very strange and dark adult fiction.......2007-09-26
General Outline:
Mike Harmon is a "retired" Seal that has a mind as battered as his body. One day while "practice" stalking one of the coeds at the college campus he is taking classes at he wittnesses an abduction and follows the girl and the terroists from the U.S.A to Syria where he finds a group planning to torture the girl and others like her to make the United States pull out. He foils the plot and returns to to the United States a rich man and has two more (very strange) adventures.
----
As the title says the first part of this book is the normal shootem up adventure you get from this author and it moves very well even if the hero is a little dark (think needs to be in a jail somewhere away from anyone female, if not blowing things up)he gets the job done, saves the girls and takes out the terroists. If the book had drawn out the one encounter then the book would have been much better. Instead once you hit page 211 or so your in for a adult fiction (think a light 9 1/2 weeks the chacter references) story that is a bit dark then you hit page 354 or so and Mike is blowing things up again. Hit the third story all is good until Mike finds a brothel/slavery and the darn bondage/adult stuff rears its dark, mishapen head again and you got another 20 or 30 pages to slog through before you get back to the adventure story again. This book (and the author) like a lot lately for some reason seem to think that if there isn't a story you can cover it up with lots of blood and over the top sex to make up for it. No not really, in Scifi/Adventure. The book gets three stars because when there is a story its pretty good, its just takes awhile to get through all the nonsense.
m.a.c
If you find this book "insightful" then..........2007-09-26
This book is not about a conflicted protagonist who wrestles with his dark side. It is (at best) pulp fiction a la Don Pendleton's "The Executioner" -- but without the romance. At worst the publisher deliberately avoided mention on the back cover of the book that it is porn rather than a "techno-thriller."
To summarize, Ringo's "hero" defeats three groups of stereotyped terrorist plots while stopping along the way to school two young college freshmen co-eds in the ways of three-way bondage and to beat, rape and sodomize a teen girl, then buy her (as in, purchase her from another person for cash), and offer an offhand, half-hearted apology for his behavior.
Fortunately our hero advises the co-eds to call their mothers before they let themselves get tied up and the young teen is a foreign slave girl with the worldly wisdom to realize that a tip of 300 American dollars for services rendered really takes the edge off of any pain (either physical or psychological) that rape, sodomy, and a good knocking about might bring on.
The previous paragraph is not a joke. Or, if it is, the punch line is that Ringo actually wrote this book and Baen chose to publish it.
I am a 12-year U.S. Marine with a BS in Psych, an MS in Organizational Management, and working toward a doctorate in the field of leadership. I am neither a prude nor an idiot -- and I advise the following with confidence: If you find yourself sympathizing with Ringo's "Ghost" or you think that rape is an understandable way to relieve stress, then you should seek counseling immediately.
Seriously. And ESPECIALLY if you are a member of the U.S. armed forces.
Sometimes good people do bad things and sometimes the good guys have to muddle through some pretty murky gray area when it comes to right and wrong. Unfortunately, Ringo does not explore these issues.
He could have.
He is a tremendously talented writer.
But this time, he chose to write some really bad porn.
Which is fine -- as long as it is labeled that way and we remember to be worried any time we are tempted by an author to think, "Oh, well, I guess he had some pretty good reasons for raping that teen aged girl."
Good Action .......2007-09-04
I hestitated to read this book from all of the negative reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised! Yes, LOTS OF SEX, Kinky Sex. But those sections were skimmed to the next action sequence. If you take this book as a Mac Bolan or Destroyer then you will enjoy it. The action and sex are over the top but it was a fun read.
3 1/2 stars would be a better rating.......2007-08-28
"You are either going to love this book or hate this book..."
For some people that maybe the case. For most it is always a grayish kind of like or dislike.
Me? I really liked these books. It has more to do with Ringo's style of writing with a general inclination towards military realism. Form lingo to tactics, he is pretty much on the spot.
I also appreciate his unabashed, no-holds-barred writing in terms of violence and other adult content.
Some one else mentioned that these books read kinda like a military tall tale. Absolutely true, but it is a really well written tall tale.
The good, the bad, and the disgusting?.......2007-08-17
I generally am a fan of the Posleen Universe books, and I was blind-sided by this novel. It started out O.K., but after the initial novella, it degenerated into something other than an action thriller. I'm not decrying the entire book--just the wierd transition to a pretty graphic and brutal sadism/masochism/dominance/bondage trash novel in an unexpected turn. I like the posleen universe a lot more. A really sad 2 stars for this one, based on the opening third of the book, which redeemed it from a "no stars". I think I'll skip over any more "Ghost" sequels.
Book Description
"A hell of a gift, an opportunity." "Magnanimous." "One of the greatest advantages I ever experienced." These are the voices of World War II veterans, lavishing praise on their beloved G.I. Bill. Transcending boundaries of class and race, the Bill enabled a sizable portion of the hallowed "greatest generation" to gain vocational training or to attend college or graduate school at government expense. Its beneficiaries had grown up during the Depression, living in tenements and cold-water flats, on farms and in small towns across the nation, most of them expecting that they would one day work in the same kinds of jobs as their fathers. Then the G.I. Bill came along, and changed everything. They experienced its provisions as inclusive, fair, and tremendously effective in providing the deeply held American value of social opportunity, the chance to improve one's circumstances. They become chefs and custom builders, teachers and electricians, engineers and college professors. But the G.I. Bill fueled not only the development of the middle class: it also revitalized American democracy. Americans who came of age during World War II joined fraternal groups and neighborhood and community organizations and took part in politics at rates that made the postwar era the twentieth century's civic "golden age." Drawing on extensive interviews and surveys with hundreds of members of the "greatest generation," Suzanne Mettler finds that by treating veterans as first-class citizens and in granting advanced education, the Bill inspired them to become the active participants thanks to whom memberships in civic organizations soared and levels of political activity peaked. Mettler probes how this landmark law produced such a civic renaissance. Most fundamentally, she discovers, it communicated to veterans that government was for and about people like them, and they responded in turn. In our current age of rising inequality and declining civic engagement, Soldiers to Citizens offers critical lessons about how public programs can make a difference.
Customer Reviews:
An Opportunity Lost.......2007-02-27
The GI Bill is the subject of a great book. The human interest stories of people affected by this landmark legislation should inspire us all. Unfortunately, this is not that book. It reads like a doctoral dissertation (which it may well be), with all the dryness and academic disinterest that implies. We get statistics and conclusions, with random personal impacts thrown in as filler. Never once do we get engaged in the subject. I looked forward to this book, but I read to the end out of a sense of duty, not because I really wanted to. The opportunity for a great book about the GI Bill was there. Ms. Mettler wasted it. The stars are for the stats, not the story.
Essential read for anyone interested in the history of successful American public policy.......2006-10-22
This book is such an articulately composed analysis of one of the United States' most successful public policies. In "Soldiers to Citizens," Suzanne Mettler outlines how the educational provisions of the G.I. Bill created what she refers to as "the greatest generation." The G.I. Bill not only fulfilled its intention of rewarding veterans for their selfless acts of patriotism, but it provided the opportunity for upward mobility, it increased civic engagement and strengthened political involvement.
With the constant media bombardment of negative political images, it's easy to gain a sense of cynicism toward our government. "Soldiers To Citizens" provides an optimistic view of how our government can positively affect our citizens through the implementation of strong public programs. Through personal interviews and extensive research, Mettler provides an intriguing analysis. I am fortunate enough to be a student of Mettler's. Simply put - she's brilliant.
I recommend this book to US politics and policy students, public servants, veterans, those in academia or anyone who has a genuine interest in American public policy.
Customer Reviews:
Roger's Techniques Really Work.......2004-12-30
Roger's techniques helped me get leap ahead of my competition by providing must know tools for a successful career outside the military. I've been out of the USAF for 10 years now. Founded and run a thriving Engineering Company that employs over 15 people and grosses $1.5M per year. You won't go wrong by applying Roger's techniques to your PCS to Corporate America.
Take it with a grain of salt...........2002-09-10
This book really targets those who are actually interested in jumping through the Cameron-Brooks' hoop. The title should actually be "How to Fill Out Your Application Correctly-- And Prepare For the Cameron-Brooks Interview". The author sprinkles bits of wisdom throughout but you'll have to wade through a thick swamp of fluff to find them. He provides numerous examples of how he's had to turn down highly qualified candidates, mainly through semantic and situational trickery. His information comes from only a select few corporate recruiters (which remain nameless), hardly the convincing data needed to make a strong case. Overall, this is a subjective observation through the eyes of ONE person. So, don't fret over his information and definitely go out and research more options.
Ridiculous Information.......2002-06-09
I have to admit that I was initially interested in Roger Cameron's book. As a junior military officer who transitioned to the private sector, I found an initial reading of his book to be interesting (and I thought at the time, beneficial). Having reflected upon my own successful experience, however, this book is full of mis-information and should be approached as such. The way that Roger indicates that candidates should prepare for a job interview is like preparing for an interrogation by an evil warlord. In some cases, his recommendations and examples are rather dysfunctional at best--I personally have never found myself in an interview where an HR rep "turned-up" the fan in the room to create more noise to distract me from the interview at hand. Good companies don't have time for tricks--they want to find good people--people of substance. Good companies conduct themselves professionally and conduct professional interviews--at least my experience has demonstrated this to me. Perhaps Roger is preparing his candidates for "less than good" companies--it's hard to say. At best, he's preparing them for experiences that will likely never occur. There are some good recommendations--wear a nice suit, black socks, shined shoes. Prepare yourself before a job intervew--these are good thoughts, but I'm not sure that I'd pay [money] for this--when I could find this out on the internet for free.
An excellent source of career advice for anyone.......2000-09-22
This is an excellent book loaded with great advice for any Junior Military Officer considering a career change to the business world. Roger Cameron just came out with the 3rd edition of this book which includes great new information to help military officers prepare to be competitive in corporate America. It is a very easy read and the author writes in a direct/ no-nonsense style. A very eye-opening book that will be a super tool.

Iwo Jima Marine veteran Jack Britton has carried the horror of combat and the loss of his young wife and his buddies with him for the past 60 years. Now, in the last 36 hours of his life in a hospital intensive care unit, he revisits those aspects of his life and grapples with his long-suffering questions about fate and self-doubt through a psychological phenomenon known as sundown syndrome.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Read! Elliott surpasses expectations!.......2006-11-28
Iwo Blasted Again plunges the reader into an immediately impacting journey of a war-torn and suffering soul. Through an uncanny interweaving of psychology and time, Elliott vividly captures the essence of sundown syndrome and has done so with intricate characterization, while inviting the reader to ponder the deeper meanings of life, love, war and death. This work is one of hidden hurt and truth, reminiscent of Hemingway.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a story about the true ramifications of war on the soul. If you like Tim O'Brien or other authors who tell a good tale and write well, this will be the perfect read.
