Book Description
The first handbook for the paoidly growing number of American women choosing single motherhood, written by the director of the national organization, Single Mothers by Choice.
Customer Reviews:
Christians look elsewhere.......2007-04-07
I had been considering single motherhood and got this to understand what I might have been getting myself into. It was difficult enough trying to read a worldly perspective on a serious matter without the author bending over backward trying to justify her own decision. She really needs to get her heart right with God. She even went as far as finding some very questionable study that claimed single mothers had less stress than those in a married relationship. After reading that, I was unable to read the book again. It's that biased and ridiculously not a fair evaluation of single motherhood. And while the author does include unstable women involved in multiple and/or serial-"monogomous" relationships within the book, I don't see that as healthy or beneficial to anyone - mother, child, or the men. If that's what membership into Single Mothers by Choice is like, I really don't want a part of it. Buyer be warned!
thorough.......2007-01-10
this book is written by the founder of single mothers by chiolce. it covers all the topics that would cross your mind in the adoption process. i found it to be extremely helpful as it addressed a myriad of topics from infant, toddler or older child adoptoin, international adoption, private vs. public, etc. in addition there is a great index which includes organizations all over the US to meet and discuss your concerns, adoption agencies, adoption attorneys and more. it is very thorough and a must read for anyone in the beginning stages of the adoption process.
very informative, not judging.......2006-11-07
In reading through this book, I felt like it was a really good balance of several different stories representing different backgrounds or reasons that women have considered becoming single mothers, and the different considerations that were important to each of them. It lets the reader relate to what are the priority considerations for them and maybe even consider issues they hadn't thought of yet. It was very supportive, but not pressuring the reader to make a decision one way or the other. Very helpful and informational before making such a life changing decision. I would say some of the concerns mentioned in the book are probably somewhat less concerning as time goes on and the stigma of being a single mother changes with acceptance socially and in the medical community.
If you are a single woman considering motherhood...a must read.......2006-03-22
A very well written, well thought out book. This is probably one of the most difficult decisions I will have to make and reading through this book has really helped me to sort out my thoughts and feelings. It gives you permission to have a difficult time, to be comfortable with the complexity of feelings and to help you to make a choice that is right for you, whatever that choice might be.
Okay but..........2005-10-26
This book has some useful information and stories, but seems old-fashioned at times, despite its topic of alternative families.
Book Description
Knowledge, peace of mind and joy are available to you now. Anything real that has been obtained by religious leaders or spiritual gurus is also obtainable to you. In fact, knowledge, peace of mind and joy are not so much obtained as they are realized and remembered. All knowledge resides within you now. Nothing that is given to one is withheld from another. God does not play favorites. God's love for you is in no way diminished by your perception that you are less than you are. God loves all, equally and always.
Love is all you are, it is your foundation. People are taught, and have the perception that they must build on their foundation to experience peace of mind, success and joy. How and what you build on your foundation is up to you, it is your free will. However, if you simply extend what you are, you will create more beauty than anything that could or has ever been built. My brother and sister, your base, your foundation, is perfect and you need not add or subtract anything from perfection.
There are many paths you may choose to take in order to realize knowledge, peace of mind and joy in the present moment. The journey will be as complicated as you choose to make it, or as easy as you allow it to be. You may choose one path now, or you may choose to follow several different paths at the same time. Look within, and move towards those paths that offer you peace of mind and joy, and are in alignment with your present values. Do not concern yourself with the paths others may be trying to force upon you, or what others say is the correct, proper, truthful or acceptable way to grow. Within your heart there lies a memory of your trueself. It is this memory you search for, and it is this memory you will someday remember. My brother and sister, all truth lies within you. You may have temporarily forgotten this, but you have now chosen to remember.

This book has so many profound and inpiring truths in it. I have been reading spiritual, self-help books for about 15 years. This book is certainly one of the best I have found. Customer Reviews:
sassafras.......2006-01-14
This book is about a girl named Anastasia Krupnik. She has to choose a career then write a report about the career she chose. I really enjoyed this book beacause the 2 careers she picked is probably what I would pick when I grow up.This book was great!!
Boring, lame, and just plain stupid book.......2005-04-19
This book got on my nerves. I absolutely hated it, and couldn't bare to read anymore about halfway through. If you want a horribly boring experience, go on, read it. If not, stay away from this book. Don't say I didn't warn you.
How Boring!!!!!.......2001-05-23
I think that this book was very boring because all it talks about is Anastasia going to modeling school and interviewing a bookstore owner in Downtown Boston for a school project. Characters in this book are Anastasia Krupnik and Henry Peabody. They both went to modeling school and became best friends. I do not recommend this book to anyone unless you want to be seriously bored.
Anastasia's Chosen Career.......2001-05-04
Have you ever thought about what you would like to be when you grow up? Anastasia Krupnik is a 13-year girl (the main character in this story) who wants to be a fashion model. Her dad, Dr. Krupnik wants her to own her own bookstore. If you read this book, you will learn that Anastasia has many funny adventures and meets new friends. Like riding the bus into the city by herself and meeting Henry Peabody. To find out if Anastasia will be a model or a bookstore owner you should read this book. Take my word for it this book is funny, but you make the decision.
Anastia's Chossen Carrer.......2000-11-29
I really liked this book. It was the 1st Anastia Book I had ever read, and now i am on my 4th one! I strongly recomed it.

Product Description
Living Your Chosen Eulogy is beyond self help, a book on world help. It redefines kindness, illustrating how each of us is an indispensable, critical link in the chain of values that betters the world. Kian Dwyer puts a wholesome twist to the saying "living the good life." Living Your Chosen Eulogy awakens the heart and soul, and inspires daily integrity by making readers aware of their best true selves. Through anecdotes, commentary, and exercises, the author shows readers how to tap into their own set of beliefs, values, talents, and skills. This new awareness will determine the meaning of their lives as they learn to live with purpose and intention. Despite numerous surgeries and a diagnosis of a bone disorder called avascular necrosis, Kian Dwyer felt herself catapulted into choosing to live her life with meaning, gratitude, and love. This passion and energy is threaded through her book as she explains how each of us has unique positive and spiritual gifts, no matter our background or circumstances.
Customer Reviews:
A satisfying read!.......2006-05-02
"Think about the eulogy you would want your best friend or family to read about you!"
Living Your Chosen Eulogy was written by a woman I met at writer's festival. She seemed to truly live her eulogy. Kindness and peace radiated from her.
This book's message is not about preparing for the end, but about living each day the best way possible. A eulogy is a tribute--high praise, showing respect, gratitude or affection, not a religious term--something that is usually read at funerals.
Dwyer believes that people should be able to tell who you are by the way you act, showing our choices and reactions to the world around us.
Each chapter has relevant quotes, many now in my "favorite's file." Her five chapters cover:
--Soul Discovery
--There's An Angel in All of Us
--Kill Them with Kindness
--Gifts from the Heart
--Living Your Chosen Eulogy
Dwyer wrote: If your closest friend or family had to use one word to describe you, what would they say? Ask them. Hmmm, that's both scary and thought-provoking and may be a humbling exercise for all of us.
When you travel your journey of daily events, be aware who travels at your side. What value does this person bring to you? What value do you bring to each other?
"If you listen to the wisdom in your soul and take action, you will find yourself headed in a direction that always leads to your highest good," says Dwyer.
"God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say 'thank you'? -- William A. Ward.
I really liked her chapter on thanks yous, a reminder we need often--that a thank you to someone could mean a lot and takes only a few of those 86,400 seconds to do it.
Armchair Interviews says: Each chapter ends with summarizing key points that really add to the value and allow you to quickly review and be reminded of the affirming thoughts in each chapter. What would your eulogy say, and would it please you?
What a Fine Message of Hope!.......2005-04-16
Kian Dwyer has surpassed her earlier book, and given us another fine message of hope. It's very clear to this reader that she writes with passion and conviction. I recommend it most highly.
-- John Milton, small farmer, rural Minnesota
Kian Dwyer Gets It!.......2005-04-16
Kian Dwyer began her life's journey as an orphan in the Middle East. She was adopted by caring American parents and spent the rest of her youth growing up in Minnesota.
Kian has written a celebration of life. She shows us how to choose the way we live, how to develop integrity, and how to build and leave the legacy we desire.
In each chapter we learn the building blocks of successful living and how to use them to construct meaningful lives for ourselves. Kian shows us how important integrity is in all we do, say, and think.
Ultimately, we are prepared to write the eulogy we can grow into.
Living To Shape A Better Life Today!.......2005-04-14
This is a book for all of the "Baby Boomer Generation" to read and
especially for their parents, to teach their grandchildren from. Do
you think it important to write a will? Read this book first! Perhaps
it is better to consider your eulogy first. Benefit now... from your own
heritage. The one you create every day... for your self.
Kian's written words are a validation to what I have observed.
A spiritual paradise, water knee deep on the earth. Human
condition, as such, we step in and out of this water. Not often
enough do we get down on our knees and bath in it. Her book
has helped my focus. She is an author who can express and teach. Kian's book
is a warm bath.
For example, paragraph two in the Foreword. She sums up
the world condition...pointing out self application, in lieu of the
world condition. Her words give hope, offer choice, Identify transformation, and
validate the tool at hand...all in one paragraph. Written in plain
simple language, anyone can understand. That is beautiful.
Norman Maclean is the only other author, I have read, who
can say so much with so few words.

Beyond Self Help.......2005-03-17
Kian Dwyer's book truly is beyond self help. This how to book shows how we can make a difference our own way and bring love, peace, and compassion into the world by living with integrity. Kian's writing is simply put, easy to absorb, yet so incredibly powerful. I've read it twice and refer to different chapters from time to time. I am married with two boys and find her motivational, spiritual book an inspiration. The book is a great companion and has helped me with my family and work relationships.

Book Description
Choosing What's Chosen You is a unique self-help workbook that will guide you through the process of developing lovingkindness toward yourself and others. The reader is asked to choose a personal learning goal to explore through the Eastern practice of Lojong, which includes helpful slogans and daily meditation. Hundreds of probing questions, revealing the preciousness and impermanence of life, and distinguishing between needless and inevitable suffering, are used to promote inner healing.
A learning goal might focus on the needless suffering caused by a sense of unworthiness, insecurity, loneliness, or abandonment that limits your ability to open your heart to yourself, or to others. Author Mark Pelter provides a way to change how you relate to your emotional issues.
Choosing What's Chosen You uncovers your real emotional need for a heart connection to self, others, higher consciousness or God/dess. Working through this process will help you to develop your ability to meet core level needs by transforming painful emotions into your personal path of freedom. This workbook can be used over and over again throughout your life. It is a step-by-step guide for consciously choosing, meeting, and embracing your own humanity.

A Meditation in and of itself!.......2004-01-31
When I first saw the title of this book, I thought it would approach the subject of mindfulness entirely from the Buddhist perspective. However, I was delightfully surprised to see that the author had considered a wide variety of spiritual traditions in his examination of the subject.
The workbook style works well for helping readers to understand what is meant by the elusive term "mindfullness.' I also found that the questions posed truly challenge the reader to understand how one moves in the world and how each of us can make a significant difference simply by being aware of our actions, motives, and thoughts.
I highly recommend this book and believe that it could readily be used effectively in a group therapy setting, regardless of the spiritual tradition of the participants.
Great book.......2004-01-11
This is a wonderful self help tool that anyone would be lucky to own.

A Chosen Journey.......2005-09-25
'A Chosen Journey' is a novel that that will allow you to experience nearly every emotion that is possible to feel. It is about a young married woman and her dog that was abused by her husband. She finds a way to escape and lives in a Women's Shelter for a short period of time. She is kindly offered to live in a Mansion with the elderly lady that rescued her from the Church that she had called for assistance to leave her home.
She begins to realize that she has self worth and, can be a blessing to many as she begins schooling and work in the Hospital across the Street from the Women's Shelter. She soon finds herself working and sharing her experience with young adults that are addicted to drugs and alcohol, and helping them to find their way back to a normal, happy life with their families. There are some young adults that find it hard to adjust and you will become so interested in each character's life journey that you will feel as if you know them and will want to keep up with what will happen next in their life.
This is a real eye opener that many of us have not experienced and some of us have. I highly recommend this story to anyone that loves to read and learn about life through the hard times others have chosen to live, and also how to find your way back to a journey of life that will reward you with love and peace.
More Than Just A Story.......2004-11-10
A Chosen Journey's compelling plot involves the reader in the lives of young people who have taken the wrong path in life. But the book is much more than a story because it has a message in it.
If read by troubled youth, it could very well give them insight to where they're headed and how to avoid disasterous results of drugs and alcohol. Everyone has a purpose in life and this book shows the reader that we're led to do what we're supposed to do, even in the face of seeming obstacles.
There are persons who seem to be 'guardian angels' but whom we would never meet if we didn't take the road less traveled. I rate this book "Excellent" with a great ending.
Gail Gupton, Author: The 31-Day Diet of Spiritual Enlightenment and Seekers of Truth.
A Chosen Journey review.......2003-05-16
As I read A Chosen Journey I felt as if I were engulfed in the world of Jenna Cramer as she left a world of physical and mental abuse. I cheered her on as she went to a Woman's Shelter and found a job in a Hospital helping young adults with their addictions. I became fascinated with the patients that had so many problems that they felt they had to drown their fears in alcohol and drugs. As Jenna and Bree worked with them you could feel them changing and knew that God and the Angels were working with them to help heal these patients that had lost all hope. I was in awe of the story and enjoyed every moment of it hating to close the book when I need to. I would recommed this book to anyone that wants a book that will wrap it's story around you and consume you with mystery, endurance, sadness, hope and love.
A Chosen Journey.......2003-05-14
A Chosen Journey was a journey that I truly traveled with the main character Jenna Cramer. Although this is a novel it wrapped me up in it's story and I felt as if I knew each patient and actually felt for them. This story touches your heart and brings tears, laughter, sadness and surprise to you as it unfolds. If there is such a thing as a walk-in then Jenna received an Angel to prod her along her journey working with young people addicted to drugs and alcohol. She is a perfect example of what we should all strive to be like. This is a book that you will want to share with others.
A Chosen Journey.......2002-12-16
A Chosen Journey is a spiritual novel about Jen, a young woman who chooses to accept a spirit walk-in as she lay dying from domestic violence. As she awakens to her new life she finds herself with gifts of healing as she works in a hospital with drug and alcohol addicted young people. One of her patients, Bree becomes her best friend and they begin a group called Harmony Home Youth Program. There are many young people that accept their help and are amazed at the changes in their lives. There is drama, love and suspense as this story unwinds. It is a book that is hard to find a place to stop reading. You will find delight in this novel and will want to share it with others.
