parasite menace.......2007-08-25
This book is excellent abot how paraties find their way into our body and clearly explains how to avoid them and get rid of them/ Great book indeed
very educational. after reading it we surely changed our way of handling food and hygeine and prevention in our daily lives.Highly recommend it to those who want to live healthy and learn about the world of parasites that live in our body.
good information, but..........2006-05-23
Skye Weintraub has definitely put together a great book. At first when she's identifying each parasite, she tells you the "conventional" way of treating each one--which upset me because she's an N.D. But I suppose the pharmaceuticals must be listed as well. Thankfully, later in the book she gives prevention advice as well as herbal remedies. I've learned a lot just researching the internet, but this book taught me even more. I am very glad I bought this book. I started treating myself before I got a hold of this and I wish I had read this first. I've made several mistakes, but hey--I'm still alive! Parasites-and getting rid of them-can be very dangerous. The problem is much more wide-spread than people realize. All these people with unspecified problems (fibromyalgia, CFS, IBS, colitis, etc.) would do well to purchase this book and find out the REAL cause of their ailments. I have been misdiagnosed for years and finally I had to diagnos and treat myself (obviously without using those horrible pharmaceutical drugs). I almost died because of parasites (don't know which ones) and the treatment. It is highly advised to find a good alternative care doctor (one that doesn't use drugs or surgery) before embarking on a cleanse, if in fact you are heavily infested as I am. As far as the reviewer who asked "where's the facts"--the book is not riddled with footnotes (which I appreciate). However, if you look in the back, Skye lists the books that she has used as reference. The only problem I have with the book is the fact that she recommends Grapefruit Seed Extract as a useful antimicrobial. Commercial GSE has been shown to contain methylparabens, triclosan, and benzethonium chloride. These chemicals make the GSE antimicrobial. DO NOT use commercially prepared GSE!!! In Dr. Weintraub's defense, the book was published (in 2000) about the same time as the study by von Woedtke (1999) which showed what the extract really contains; and before the study in 2001 by Gary Takeoka and his group, which confirmed the findings. If these studies were available to her, I don't think she would have recommended the use of GSE in her book. Thankfully, I am intelligent enough to do tons of research, not just trusting one book or source. All in all: a very good book, priced just right, and VERY much worth buying!!
Where's the research?.......2004-05-05
Where's the research? A lot of generalities and information
that has been tossed around by everyone. Not much substance here!
Must reading for the health-conscious.......2000-04-01
Dr. Weintraub does an excellent job in discussing, in layman's terms, the diseases caused by parasites, as well as their prevention and treatment. Although not publicized, most people in the world have at least one parasite, either of the worm or microscopic variety, and it is much more prevalent in the US than most people realize. Included are numerous statistics on incidences of parasite infestation around the world. Particularly, anyone who travels out of the country needs to read this book. Treatments are listed for each which include both conventional treatments as well as a large variety of alternative treatments. You cannot rely on your physician to automatically 'think' the possibility of parasites if you have a medical complaint, especially, if the symptoms are diffuse. And, even if testing is done, most laboratory tests do not show 'positive' the first time tested, even though the patient may have the parasite. Arm yourself with this book!

Wise Old Bess Knew The Truth!.......2007-03-27
The queen's gnarled fingers pinched the girl's baby-smooth cheeks. "Do not deceive yourself, Valentina," the wise and majestic old woman croaked. "Journey to the East if you will, but do not expect to remain cool and untouched forever. You are an O'Malley, like your cursed grandmother. Your will is strong, but your nature is hot and passionate."
Valentina St. Michaels determined to discover the secret of her birth. Though raised an Elizabethan noble, her mother was once a harem slave to a great sultan of India. Val has no wish to repeat her mother's sensual experiences, but when her trading fleet is wrecked in a storm fate tosses her from one devastatingly handsome man to another. Forced to yield to her own sensual nature in order to survive, Val soon discovers that wise old Queen Bess knew the truth about her passionate nature. But will Val become passion's master or a slave like her mother? Will she ever reclaim her royal identity? Will she discover love as well as pleasure?
Is this a different story?.......2004-04-17
This umpteenth sequel of the Skye O'Malley saga doesn't seem to be like a sequel, it's more like the same story with different names. The same goes for all the sequels of "Skye O'Malley". Heroine finds happiness, heroine is kidnapped by a cruel Eastern man and forced to be his slave (but sometimes she secretly enjoys it), then she is happily reunited with her beloved. The storyline is always the same, only the name of the characters change. Seems like the O'Malleys are genetically destined for the same fate. Ms Small needs to move on and come with something new.
A sidenote: I don't know why does Ms Small and lots of other romance writers think that women love these heartless macho guys. I wonder, maybe most of these writers are male under a female pseudonym? Anyway, I'm fed up and finished with them. Even a Stephen King novel can be more romantic than these "ooh I'm captured and raped and being humiliated an enjoy it soo much" books.
My favorite in the O'Malley Saga.......2000-06-16
Valentina is my favorite heroine in the O'Malley series and more like Skye than Skye's offspring is. When Valentina goes to court to serve Elizabeth I, I was heartbroken. Mrs. Small's exceptional writing and incredible detail showed me how the lively days of courtlife in Elizabeth's youth had dramatically changed and become a somber place as Elizabeth approached her last days. When a family secret is revealed, Valentina shows us her adventurous spirit and heads East! Her adventures are incredible! I appreciated how Mrs. Small touched on "The Kadin" through the duchy of San Lorenzo and reintroducing us to Esther Kira (who met Valentina's mother in "A Love for All Time"). Also, the appearance of Cica Pasha tied into "Love Wild and Fair." Wonderful! (A note to Mrs. Small: Since you have touched on Esther Kira so often, how about a book dedicated to her entire life. Just a thought.) I wept at least 3 times and was filled with anger, frustration, joy, fear, and triumph as Mrs. Small weaved her magic spell of words and phrases and pulled me into her story. If you haven't read the O'Malley series, you might get a little confused. You should at least read "A Love for All Time" which is the tale of Aidan, Valentina's mother, and is the basis of much of this book's plot.
One of my favorites in the Skye O'Malley saga.......2000-05-13
I truly enjoyed Valentina and thought her character better than Velvet and Jasmine. I loved how this book touched on so many other stories. The Mediteranean island where Janet Leslie was taken (see "The Kadin") and the return of Cica Pasha. (see "Love Wild and Fair"). Of course, I loved seeing Esther Kira again. Valentina is stronger than Aidan, but very much her mother's daughter. I can't say enough good things about this book. There is romance, adventure, and on-the-edge-of-your-seat-suspense.
one harem too many.......2000-04-12
Usually, I love Mrs. Small's books. Her description of theclothes, foods and dwelings of the medival/renissance period arewonderful and so are many of her supporting cast. BUT- after reading Skye O'Malley and AtST, I felt Valentina was a bit of a stupid character who was to stubborn to see the forest for the trees. Her father loves her, her cousin loves her but she has to go to the East and guess what? She ends up in a harem! (surprise, surprise!) These scences are one to many, rape is not appealing in a romance novel even if the heroine is 'betrayed by her body'. I really could bearly finish this one. :-(

One Of My Favorite Books!.......2007-07-06
I can't believe this book got such bad reviews. I loved this book so much! I think it's my favorite book in the series. I liked India and Cayman. Their conversations with each other made me smile many times. My favorite part of the book was when India became his body slave (I laughed a couple of times). At the end of the book I wished that Ms. Small had written more about their lives together. I didn't want their story to end. Great book!
I STILL LOVE SMALLS BOOKS, BUT THIS ONE STINKS!.......2006-05-07
IT IS SAD TO SAY THAT THIS BOOK WAS TERRIBLE COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL SKYE O'MALLEY SERIES WHICH I LOVED. INDIA IS SELF-CENTERED, STUPID AND BRATTY. WHO WANTS TO LOVE THAT???
SKYE'S LEGACY/BEDAZZLED.......2005-09-29
I HAVE BEEN READING, IN SEQUENTIAL ORDER, THE O'MALLEY SAGA AND
SKYE'S LEGACY. UNABLE TO FIND THE LAST SEVERAL I TURNED TO
AMAZON.COM. I RECEIVED EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM THE SOURCES I
USED TO COMPLETE THE SERIES. THANK YOU.
So disappointed!!.......2001-03-31
I usually love Ms. Smalls books. I have been avidly reading them for sometime now. However this storyline is getting quite old. Frankly I am getting a little disgusted how these women from the O'Malley series put up with harems and sharing their men with others. Most of her characters have spit and vineger, however India is just plain stupid and silly. She is not what I would call a firey young woman, but an incrediably shallow, self-centered twit with the intelligance of a nat!
A Pleasant Surprise.......2001-03-23
After Darling Jasmine, which I loathed, I wasn't expecting to enjoy Bedazzled. Imagine my happy surprise when I found this to be a most enjoyable read! Okay, sure, the heroine's a petulant pain in the rear, but then again this is what makes her a "character". I gleaned from how the book was written that Small was somehow thinking of slightly parodizing herself. Most of all, I thought this was a good, straightforward story, lighter on the erotica and more centered on the plot.

Cornwall, NY Sixth Grader.......2007-03-09
I am a sixth grader. I read Skye's the Limit. It is a great book and very interesting. It's about a girl named Skye and she decides to go to a summer camp that has a lot of nature activities and biking over hockey camp. She decided to go to this camp because she already told all of her friends and her teachers. She was very excited till the last minute. Skye got very scared and didn't want to go anymore because she heard it was dangerous. She tried asking her mom if there was anyway they could cancel the trip, but her mother said no because they already mailed the application and sent the money. Skye was heading off to the plane to go to camp. On the plane she had to sit next to two people that she referred to as goddess and tan man. Skye was very nervous and she felt like throwing up. On the plane Skye spilled her true feelings about going to camp. She said she was really scared and nervous and afraid that she wasn't going to make any friends. The goddess next to her said not to worry about it and that she would make a friend. She bets that there are other kids that fell scared and want a friend as well. When Skye gets off the plane she meets a girl. They go to camp together and have a very weird time at camp. Perhaps a bully bosses them around. How will they both survive and possibly enjoy camp? Read to find out. Does Skye beat the bully or do they become friends?.
Limitless Little Girl.......2007-01-21
The summer between sixth grade and seventh grade is here, and most of Skye's friends are going to typical summer camps or taking vacations with their friends. Skye decides to go to an outdoor camp in Vancouver, even though she's a little scared to be so far away from home. Both her inner strength and physical strength are tested as she battles homesickness, makes new friends, learns how to kayak, and bicycles her heart out.
What a refreshing read! This is not your typical summer camp story. This camp is challenging and Skye is extremely active. This book shows kids that it's natural to be worried about going to a sleepaway camp, and that while a different sport or activity might seem weird at first, they should give it a try - they just might discover some new and exciting hobbies!
Skye's the Limit is the second book written by Megan Shull about middle school hockey player Skye O'Shea. Make sure that you read Yours Truly, Skye O'Shea first and find out what happened when Skye started middle school. After you read these books, I bet that you, like me, will be wishing there were more Skye stories!
Loved It!.......2006-05-10
This book was awsome. I could realate to Skye so much Wooooooooo Hoooooooo!
Awesome Book!.......2006-01-20
This is a great book for people who are thinking of going to a camp but are scared. Skye's thoughts and feelings are normal, and it was nice for me to get inside the head of someone scared of going to camp like me and see that it isn't so bad. Very inspiring with an interesting twist at the end.
megan can really write!.......2005-01-21
In the book Skye's the Limit, Skye O'Shea is am average 12-year-old girl, who likes sports, friends, and loves summer vacation. This vacation was going to be the best one she has ever had. She thought about her three weeklong journey to Cat Island Adventure Camp. She started to get a little nervous at the thought of being 3,000 miles from home. Her mom reassured her that it was going to be just as great as she had pictured it. Camp came around the corner quickly, and soon she was there, riding her bike all over the place, swimming, enjoying the wild life, whitewater rafting and sleeping under the stars. She quickly made two new friends, too! It wasn't always fun and games for her though. She also has to battle with being in Canada, a different country that is 3,000 miles from home and soon finds that she has to put up with a probably the meanest girl she has ever met in her whole, entire life! Even through the rain, the exhaustion and the bullies, she finds that she has more confidence and is stronger than she ever thought she was. I thought that this was a great book, and I think that more people should read it, because they could learn some great things from Skye!

Outstanding New Idea.......2005-11-20
What a clever idea: A manual for men. It's brief, easy to read, divided by categories in case he doesn't want to read the whole thing. It's very practical and down-to-earth, and it's funny. And it gets to the heart of what women really want. It'd be a great stocking stuffer or Valentine's gift!

Teenage Life.......2007-04-13
Teenage Life
Yours Truly Skye O'shea by Meagan Shull is a book about a young teenager. Skye just started [...]. She is trying to juggle sports, boys, and school all at the same time. When things get tough she writes to her favorite hockey player. She gives Skye helpful advice. I would recommend it to [...] girls and up.
Skye loves playing hockey but she is stuck in the shadow of her sisters legacy. She is trying to make the Ithaca 15U girls hockey team. Mean while, she starts to fail math, so her dad gets a touter. Then she meets Ashton, she thinks he is the most sweetest nicest boy she has ever met. Everyday after school they would walk to the library together. Everything was going good, maybe possibly, he liked her? But you never know what could happen! You will just have to read the book and see!
To sum it all up this book is truly a good book and teenage girls will love it , just like I do.
Yours Truly, Skye O' Shea.......2007-03-25
Yours Truly, Skye O' Shea is great book. Megan Shull writes so great that everyone can relate to it. With the funny parts and the sad you can find yourself feeling like Skye.
Skye has the same personality as me. Funny, loves hockey and wants to be great. I would do the same thing as her when she tries out for the hockey team, be the first out to show everyone, I'm serious. I would not want sisters like her though. I would want nice sisters that actually care about what happens to me. But I'm luckier the Skye because my parents are always there for me.
I think everyone should read this book because like I said, you can relate to how she is feeling. At some point in your life you've done the same thing or felt the same way. If you ever get a chance to read, you should. You'll never be able to put it down once you start!
Sixth Grade Blue Skye.......2007-01-21
Shortly after Skye enters middle school, she feels overwhelmed by her homework, her first crush, and her afterschool sports. Skye worries that she'll never be as skilled or as smart as her older sisters, twins Shannon and Shelby. At home, they always make Skye feel as though it's two against one. On the ice, all three girls excel at hockey. Even after Skye makes the big team, she thinks she has push herself even more in order to prove her worth.
Yours Truly, Skye O'Shea is just the beginning. Make sure that you read Skye's the Limit next and find out what happens when Skye goes to an outdoor summer camp. After you read these books, I bet that you, like me, will be wishing there were more Skye stories!
Skye Rocks!.......2005-06-11
I'm All most done reading it but so far its Alsome! I can tell Skye and I have a lot in common she is really cool I recommed this book for ages: 10 and over and I recommed it for anyone!
My 10 yr old won't put it down.......2004-06-29
My 10 yr old daughter is reading this book currently and is almost done. She can not put it down. I purchased this book as a birthday party gift for her & her 3 friends (at the American Girl Store book signing on June 26th). Her friend said (while reading the book in the car on the way home) "You guys, this is the best book ever - you need to read it!!"
Great gift idea for any girl.

Book Description
She lived and loved with fierce abandon, surrendering to the deepest pleasures of passion . . .
Princess Yasaman had been blessed with rapturous beauty, fierce intelligence, and an innocent sensuality that captivated two formidable men -- her scheming half brother, Salim, and her loving husband, Prince Jamal. But her days of bliss and nights of steamy passion were shattered when Jamal was murdered, and Yasaman feld to England and the court of James II. Calling herself Jasmine, there she would be reunited with her gloriously beautiful mother, Velvet, and her grandmother, the legendary Sky O'Malley de Marisco . . .
#1 bestselling author Bertrice Small has outdone herself with this long-awaited sequel to THIS HEART OF MINE. WILD JASMINE is a novel of high romantic adventure that spans two continents, taking us from exotic seventeenth-century India to the scandalous court of James Stuart -- two enticing worlds teeming with colorful characters and consuming desire . . . .
Customer Reviews:
The best book in the O'malley seris next to Skye........2006-06-18
I have read and re-read this book until the cover ripped off. Jasmine is her grandmother Skye reborn. She is just as beautiful and strong willed. She also has hot love scenes that rival Skye and her mother Velvet. This will always be one of my favorite books.
Best next to Skye O'Malley.......2005-09-07
I was really impressed with this book. For some reason, I had the notion that I wouldnt like any books after the series with Skye in them. i figured after Skye had died, there couldnt be anything interesting to say. I liked Jasmine almost better than Skye. I found that I still like reading books in reference to her. Maybe its because she is such a strong woman, who gets through everything, and still remains strong. Its an excellent continuation in the Skye O'Malley Legacy.
Wild Jasmine.......2004-01-03
Wild Jasmine was the first book I read by Ms. Bertrice Small and I was in awe. From the first page I was transported to 17th century India and England. From the little girl to the young woman that married her Prince. I was upset with her half-brother, Salim. I cried when she lost her 1st husband, Prince Jamal. Her life was filled with trials and tribulations to make her a very strong woman that is portrayed in this book.
Reality Check.......2003-12-14
Wild Jasmine is an okay book, nowhere near the caliber of some of Bertrice's other works. It's basically the same story, different woman. OF COURSE, she's beautiful, smart, fabulously wealthy, egocentrically aware of all the previous qualities, and widowed several times in the book. Can we have one woman in the O' Malley family who DOESN'T lose her husband/lover to duel, murder, illness, etc., etc? The only points of the book that stick out in my mind are her relationship with her brother, Salim, and Prince Henry.
In my humble opinion, Yasaman knew that Salim had the hots for her, but since she was so overwhealmingly adored by everyone, she didn't quite get that kind of attraction was unhealthy. In her relationship with Henry, I think she showed a surprising unselfishness in that she knew that there was no way she could end up with him, and so made it her duty to make sure that he knew it, too.
Lastly, this book has a few scenes steamy enough to take the wrinkles out of your jammies, but they don't make up for the fact that this book is basically blah.
Entertaining and Exotic.......2003-09-09
Let me preface my review with the confession that I don't like Jasmine. I don't like her in this book and I don't like her in subsequent books. She is spoiled and the essence of conceit.
That being said, I think it's an incredible feat that this novel remains a good read, even if I hate the central character. The sweep of events from India to England is dazzling, although I also couldn't believe Jasmine could adapt to a new culture with the ease that she does. In 2003 we have a knowledge of psychology that would question Jasmine's ability to cope with the violent deaths of her husbands, but that's an enlightenment that had no place in the 1600's and hence not in the novel. What's important is that the plot is relentless and spirited, which makes for a read that seems like it's ending just as it begins. And that's just fine--read it again!

Book Description
A True Test for Skye is the second book in the Keystone Stables series about a troubled foster girl, Skye, who finally accepts Christ, only to have her faith tested and deepened when her friend Sooze comes to live with her and is diagnosed with brain cancer.
Customer Reviews:
Great! Even better than Book One........2004-11-30
Skye Nicholson has found love and security with Tom and Eileen Chambers at Keystone Stables. Skye had been shunted from one foster home after another had finally exhausted the patience of the judge who was ready to place her in juvenile detention and throw away the key. She is `rescued' when Tom and Eileen take her into their home and heart. And of course, Skye's "love affair" with Champ, the thoroughbred Quarter Horse upon whose back she won a blue ribbon has helped with her growth.
Sooze Bodner, a friend and fellow juvenile delinquent, is in trouble, and her influence threatens to pull Skye back into her old ways. Sooze lives at home with her indifferent mother who has given up on discipline, allowing Sooze to do just as she pleases-and she does. Faced with the same final destination of juvenile detention as Skye had, Sooze is placed in the care of Tom and Eileen. Sooze is a hard case, and even though Skye tries to tell her it's not so bad, Sooze plots to escape. She thinks she can do things her own way and doesn't have to obey the rules set down by Tom and Eileen.
With Sooze around, Skye faces some tough challenges. When Skye gets caught up in Sooze's attempt to escape the resulting crisis brings both girls to a realization of what it means to have a loving God and to learn to put their trust in Him, no matter how bleak or uncertain the future may be.
A TRUE TEST FOR SKYE is book two in the Keystone Stables series. We met Skye in book one, THE TROUBLE WITH SKYE. Marsha Hubler does another great job with book two, and I urge to get both of these books, especially if you have, or know of, a teen that is in similar trouble. Also, watch for book three, TROUBLE TIMES TWO, coming soon, and book four, TEAMWORK AT CAMP TIOGA, coming in spring, 2005. I highly recommend these books.

Customer Reviews:
WONDERFUL BOOK FOR GIRLS WHO LOVE HORSES.......2006-10-05
I was horse crazy growing up, and now my daughters are inching that way as well. So it was a joy to discover a series of horse books written by a Christian author. Not only will my kids be whisked away by Hubler's talented storytelling, they'll also learn to grow in their faith.
Two-in-one. Can't beat it!
In the beginning of the book, Skye's situation seems hopeless! I'm not crazy about the foster care system in our country, but I don't know any better solutions. We need more compassionate people like Tom and Eileen Chambers, who take Skye in, love her, and commit to seeing her grow in a relationship with Christ.
It's wonderful to see how Skye warms to her new horse, Champ. She finally has something to live for, and her personality changes drastically as she begins to feel stability and love.
This would be a very useful book for training future foster-care home providers, or for church or youth workers who will come in contact with difficult-to-handle teens. The issues that trouble Skye are never too much for God.
Best book ever.......2005-05-17

Trouble With Skye.......2005-02-01
The Trouble With Skye is a juvenile fiction that features Skye Nicholson, a troubled teenager who has found herself eye-to-eye with the juvenile court judge for the last time. Certain of her destiny -- Chesterfield Detention Center, Skye showed only contempt for the judge, the situation, and herself. What she hadn't seen in the equation was another set of foster parents. Instead of the detention center, the delinquent finds herself placed in a Christian treatment center filled with tough love, strict rules, and horses.
At the home of Eileen and Tom Chambers, Skye learns that there are people who love her enough to be tougher than she is. She discovers a God who loves her enough to call her His own. And she uncovers a love within herself she never knew existed.

Skye Nicholson is a victim of the foster-parent program. At thirteen, she has already been in and out of five foster homes. She is angry, sullen, defensive and defiant of all attempts at authority. Her latest escapade finds her suspended from school and in danger of being sent to juvenile detention-the end of the road.
But Tom and Eileen Chambers, of Keystone Stables, decide they will take a chance on Skye and the judge remands her to their care. This is Skye's last chance yet all she can see is one more foster home. She resentfully settles in to a new routine, determined to take the first opportunity to run away-her answer to everything she can't handle.
Skye quickly realizes that this foster home is a lot different than all the others. She has her own room which she is allowed to decorate to suit herself, but she is expected to perform her share of chores both inside the house and outside, including the stables.
And she has to earn the privilege of learning to ride Champ, the horse she's fallen in love with. When her disobedience grounds her, she finds that she is not able to ride Champ - she can't even go near him for two weeks. And her desire to ride Champ puts her at odds with her own attitude. Along with the love lavished on her by Tom and Eileen, Skye learns of the love of God and that His love is hers, even though she believes she doesn't deserve it. All she has to do is ask. Will she be able to let go of the bitterness and anger she's lived with so long and accept all the love that is so freely given?
THE TROUBLE WITH SKYE is book one in the Keystone Stables series. Marsha Hubler has written with insight showing the mind and feelings of rebellious kids who seem to have fallen through the cracks, shuffled off to one home after another when their foster parents can no longer deal with them. I have no idea how many kids like Skye there are out there, nor do I know if there are enough people like Tom and Eileen around to open their homes and hearts and give the tough love these kids so sorely need. Maybe you have a teen or know of one who is in this same situation. This is good writing. I urge you to find this book. And watch for Book 2: A TRUE TEST FOR SKYE.
