Book Description
The people, events, and teachings of the Bible are a treasury of wisdom and guidance for anyone who has been called to be a leader, to develop leaders, or to work with leaders-in church, business, commerce, or anyplace else. The Maxwell Leadership Bible shows us what God's Word has to say to people of all kinds about leaders and leadership. It's a Bible resource that explains book by book what a godly leader is, what leadership means, what empowering others is about, and how God is glorified when we're all involved in His leadership plan for us.
Articles about the 21 Laws of Leadership in Scripture show us how these Laws are seen in the lives of Bible people. There are also articles about how the 21 Qualities of a Leader are shown in Scripture-in the cases of both those who got it right and those who got it wrong-and how people learned from their failures and became better leaders through God's redemptive process of education by experience.
Executive Editor John C. Maxwell has assembled biblical teaching to equip and encourage leaders and those who serve with them, to meet 21st-century challenges by using the time-tested and irrefutable principles of leadership that God has shown us in the Bible.

Bible for Leaders is SUPERB!.......2007-10-11
This has been such a inspirational tool for me to embrace the role of a leader. The different perspectives on the roles of some of the most famous and not so famous characters in the bible really shows how God uses everyone where they are to "lead" but mostly to just be good examples. I really enjoy this bible and often read my devotional or NIV bibles for specific study groups and then compare the translation with my leadership bible for a twist on the meaning.
Maxwell's Leadership Bible is a must have!!.......2007-09-09
Maxwell has a way of gleaning the best leadership principles from the greatest book ever written, so it's a win win, must have for anyone! He catches the essence of leadership skills from all the books of the Bible.
Awesome! It gives me a great start to every day of my life.
Easy to read, applies to every day life.......2007-07-04
This is the second copy of the Maxwell Leadership Bible that I've purchased. I got one as a present and it was so great I bought one to give as a present. Over and over Maxwell pulls out great applications from the Word that are clear and easy to understand. He helps to align business themes with scripture and does so with solid theology and candor. You can't lose by purchasing this book.
This is for leaders who want to influence multitudes for Christ.......2007-04-26
The Maxwell Bible is essential for all leaders who want to win multitudes for Christ. This Bible shows us how Jesus Himself used the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership to strenghten His influence and build disciples. Anyone who is truly wanting to be all that God has created them to be must buy this Bible!!!
Essential for leaders no matter what your religion is.......2007-03-10
Few authors touch on such fundamental and basic truths of leadership as Maxwell does. As someone who has been in formal leadership positions for over a decade, I always learn and am refreshed from Maxwell's ability to break down leadership into it's core elements.
Of course, Maxwell is taking examples from the ultimate leader, GOD. This bible is easy to read, accessible for readers of any faith and I believe is a must have for any spiritual leader looking to excel in leadership and glorify the word of God or just plain lead and serve others.

Macarthur study bible.......2007-09-07
The book was in excellant condition and is a great source of additional resources for study on the scripture verses.
Outstanding, Comprehensive Study Bible.......2007-05-21
John Macarthur is truly an anointed teacher of the Bible. I believe he has the spiritual gift of teaching, and this is probably one of his greatest works, out of the very many that he has done. While there are other great teachers, I've noticed that John MacArthur is very clear and is incredibly truthful, and it is undeniable that God works through him.
To own this Bible is a blessing from God. I'm sure.
Great Bible!!!!.......2007-05-16
this has become the main Bible that i use now. the wording of NKJV is wonderful, and the study notes are awesome. i'm a person who thinks and is always up for learning something new, and this Bible is definitely perfect for that. very educational, easy to read, nice flow, and just all around wonderful. also, nkjv isn't in old english like kjv was. a definite plus that lets me read it to others. i may understand old english (albeit to an extent, but still) but alot of others don't, and nkjv is a definite plus there to

Wonderful help!.......2007-08-31
Over the years I have made repeated attempts to read through the Bible from cover to cover. My discipline always broke down during Numbers/Deuteronomy. Each day of The MacArthur Daily Bible includes selections from the OT, NT, Psalms and Proverbs. Each day is very manageable and includes in-text notes and, at the end, a brief but thorough explanation of some aspect of that day's reading. For the first time ever, I am able to keep up with the reading. I am so glad this is available!

Awesome Daily Bible! I love this Bible so much! Not only is it accurate, but the many special features make it a great way to draw nearer to the Lord Jesus Christ on a Daily basis.A great way to read through the Bible in a year. I have recomment it to several of my friends as well as give it for gifts.
Simply put excellent!
Facilitates Discipline and Devotion.......2006-03-23
For carrying around, a small reference Bible might do; for digging deep, a study Bible or other specialty Bible, such as a parallel Bible or harmony of the gospels; but for getting The Book read systematically, cover to cover rather than hit and miss, The MacArthur Daily Bible is a good choice--though it is only available in NKJV, in case that's a problem for you. For balance, this Bible has a bit each day from (1) the Old Testament, (2) the Pslams and Proverbs, and (3) the New Testament. There are not many notes to cause digression, but just enough for meditating on without losing focus. Another nice touch is MacArthur's list of 52 well-selected verses for memorization (1 per week). For me a downside is that unlike other Bible book divisions for daily readings, when the individual Psalms are split up, it just ruins the flow and intimacy of the reading. I tried to get used to the Psalms splitting, but couldn't, so rather than abandoning this otherwise helpful Bible, I just get my daily Psalms and Proverbs fix independently, reading one at a time in entirety, skipping a day here and there, still making attainable the goal of reading thru in a year (though MacArthur offers a 2-year option).
Needed it years ago.......2006-02-27
Wonderful study aid. I only wish I had bought it years ago.
Book Description
The Essential Evangelical Parallel Bible enables readers to easily compare a quartet of modern translations that span the full range of approaches, from the most precise and literal to the most dynamic and reader-friendly. The New King James Version and English Standard Version permit close word-study, while the New Living Translation and The Message present the text as its earliest audiences might have experienced it. The complete texts of the four translations featured in this volume are conveniently displayed on facing pages (two translations per page), with the same set of verses on each one. The EEPB is particularly noteworthy because it is the first parallel Bible to feature the updated NLT text.
Customer Reviews:
This is a MUST HAVE..........2007-08-27
For anyone who is seriously hungry for the Word of God, this is a must have! Seeing the differences between the translations is extremely helpful and brings new depth to study!
Well-organized and extremely valuable collection.......2007-08-23
I've found this Bible to be a valued resource in my devotionals and Bible studies. Recognizing that any English translation will not uphold the same standard of trustworthiness as the original languages, I find that for any given passage, some translations are true to the spirit of the word and some are out of place--but no translation seems to get it right (or wrong) every time. So, I decided that it would serve me well to have many translations to reference in my studies.
Now, I don't propose to "pick-and-choose" translations based on one's preferences--rather to compare phrasing, consistency with other explicit passages, and faithfulness to established Christian doctrine in order to have the truest picture painted. This is where the EEPB excels. I specifically bought this Bible to use in coordination with the Comparative Study Bible (KJV, AMP, NASB95, and NIV). The draw of the EEPB for me was the inclusion of the NKJV, ESV, and NLT. Each translation/transliteration has its own character and its own leanings. I, being devoted to reformed theology, certainly appreciate the literal translation style of the NKJV and ESV. But, I do also greatly appreciate the wording of many passages in the NLT, while overlooking the obviously Arminian slant of certain other texts. The biggest surprise I found was the Message paraphrase. I would be reluctant to endorse the public reading or devotional study of a contemporary-language paraphrase in itself, but as a parallel commentary to an actual translation, The Message may prove to be quite helpful. Most impressive was the introduction and purpose for the Message. It explains Eugene Peterson's desire to present the Word in a readable format--not replace accurate study Bibles. This is comforting considering that a paraphrase inherently carries with it the theological agenda of the author--thereby stunting the depth of insight a student might achieve in study. But, for the purpose of getting disinterested readers started in discovering the riches of God's word, The Message could prove to be a useful tool.
I love the format, it's easy to follow and moving from one version to another to read the same passage is very fluid. While I share in a common complaint about parallel Bibles--that the print is very small--I recognize the need for smaller print in order to make the size of the book manageable. Nevertheless, all things considered, this Bible is extremely useful and wonderfully-made.
I Love It!.......2007-08-02
I really love this bible! I'm able to look at the different versions, translations. To read the different wording, has given me a better understanding!!
I'm looking to purchase two more here in the near future. My girlfriends love it also! Thanks
Best Bible Ever!!.......2007-03-10
I really love this bible! It is so cool to be able to check a passage written in four translations, all on the same page!! I used to carry my traditional bible translation (NIV study) and The Message version around all the time to compare verses (I often find the Message speaks to me at a deeper level than other translations), and it was cumbersome. Now I just use this one bible most of the time, and use my old study bible occasionally. The book is well constructed, and the font size is not as small as I thought it would be. Parallel bibles are a great idea, and this is the best one I have found.
A really useful book.......2007-01-26
I appreciate the thoughness of having these parallel books together. It has complete texts, and thin paper. However, the thin paper makes reading difficult as the print from the opposite side shows through. It is a good reference, but not for lenghthy reading.
Customer Reviews:
Incredibly shocking, unimaginable, and disgusting!!!.......2007-09-27
If you don't mind being sickened out of your mind, not sleeping for days, and feeling depressed for a few days then go ahead and read this book. I can't believe the amount of allegations that this author writes about in the book. I promise that you will either think this man and these children have sick twisted imaginations or that we have some serious sick people in high places running our government. Either way, it makes me think "What's Wrong With People?!"
Given the information in the book and doing a little research on the internet, I am leaning toward believing the State Senator. However, I do hesitate to completely endorse the book because I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, it was an astonishing and incredible read that will grasp your attention throughout. Fair warning you will most likely be grossed out by the allegations made by these children and their stories behind them. One cannot help but sympathize with their everyday troubled plight and ordeals. Highly recommended if you have the stomach for it.
So Disturbing I Hope It Isn't True.......2007-09-21
Who really knows the extent that people in power can go to cover the truth? I'd like to think that former Senator DeCamp is a trustworthy man. Obviously there are quite a few people who think so. If what he reports is true (which honestly wouldn't surprise me based on his pretty convincing arguments) then this book is the most disturbing one I've ever read.
I don't want to give anything away here, because I want to encourage as many people as possible to read this and choose for yourself. All I will say is that DeCamp alleges that a group of people in high places in Omaha (political figures, a sheriff, a bank manager) all were involved in some REALLY disgusting things involving drugs and underage kids, as the title implies.
I urge you to check this book out. If this isn't true it is one of the most bizarre schemes ever thought up, if it i true, God help the human race.
It's true.......2007-09-08
I live in Omaha. I married a man who graduated from boystown. I know two of his friends from boystown, one who worked in the media and the other worked at franklin credit union. All 3 attended the parties. All 3 were coke addicts. All three witnessed child abuse. All 3 kept their mouths shut. My husband told me the truth but realized there was nothing he could do. Who was going to listen to a cokehead? I know it's the truth. Call us crazy when the corruption gets so bad that it affects YOU.
Insights into the Cult of Power that rules the world.......2007-08-28
Maybe I am paranoid, but as I waited about six weeks to get this book, I had two events happen that gave me no choice but to believe that a Satanic Cult (for lack of a more accurate term) rules our world.
The first had to do with how my long-held AT&T Universal Card was being discontinued by AT&T, and would be switching over to CitiCard. I had gotten in the habit of paying it online and did not want to change my login name or password. So I called customer service at CitiCard and they helped me so that I would not have to create a new username to continue to pay online. When my card was through AT&T, the first screen that came up once I was logged in gave random numbers and letters before the dash and the last four numbers of my account. The first time I logged in to CitiCard to pay online, I noticed that the characters that preceeded the last four numbers of my card were no longer random. Now, every time I log in to pay my CitiCard I get reminded of the goal of the international banking families because these letters are rather specific: S L A V E R Y!!!
This was not the more troubling thing that happened. While I was awaiting THE FRANKLIN COVER-UP (I had already received GEORGE BUSH: THE UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY and RULE BY SECRECY which I ordered at the same time as THE FRANKLIN COVER-UP), I received an UNSOLICITED letter from one of my Senators, Dick Lugar. I have been known to write my Senators in the past, but had not done so since just before this debacle in Iraq. My last letter to Senator Lugar was demanding that he say no to this Zionist, neo-con, imperialistic war in early 2003. I read through his letter which was thanking me for contacting him about my, supposed, opposition to small businesses being able to provide medical insurance. This is definately a stance that I would never have taken, and I knew it had been over three years since I tried to exercise my rights to express my opinion as a constituent to my "elected" officials. However, it became very clear to me what the real message was when I returned to the top of the letter and reread the date it was composed: June 6, 2006.
So while awaiting a book about satanism from Amazon that took over six weeks to arrive, I got a perpetual reminder of my place in the grand scheme of things from my credit card (SLAVERY) as well as a letter that was dated (6/6/6). Coincidence or synchronicity?
My only critique about this book is concerning the relationship of its author (John de Camp) and the former Director, Central Intelligence William Colby. They met in Vietnam when the de Camp was working for Colby in the Phoenix assasination program. Since this book deals with MK-ULTRA and trauma based mind control, could it be disinformation coming from a CIA operative? Most disinformation is presented with much information and I have had to question what the author's true intent is. It was also through this book that I became aware of the martyrdom of Gordon Kahl, because Mr de Camp is representing his son whom the US Marshalls tried to murder in 1983 thinking he was his father. Another tragic story that most people are ignorant about.
That said, I believe that this book is the key to what happened to Johnny Gosch on his paper route in 1982. But, I believe that little Johnny Gosch grew up to become Jeff Gannon/James Guckert. This book also seems to collaborate Cathy O'Brien's story of the horrors of trauma based mind control. This book is filled with the types of horrors that drove me to tears of sorrow/compassion for the victims and tears of rage against the perpeTRAITORS. Watch CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE for the short version, read this book for the longer version. If anyone can disprove this book, please do so, for the sake of our future!
great book everybody must read.......2007-05-07
great book every one must read there is more than enuff evadence to prove this book we must not forget .

Book Description
John Hart creates a literary thriller that is as suspenseful as it is poignant, a riveting murder mystery layered beneath the southern drawl of a humble North Carolina lawyer. When Work Pickens finds his father murdered, the investigation pushes a repressed family history to the surface and he sees his own carefully constructed facade begin to crack. Works troubled sister, her combative girlfriend, his gold digging socialite wife, and an unrequited lifelong love join a cast of small town characters that create no shortage of drama in this extraordinary, fast-paced suspense novel. Harts mastery of prose and plot belies his newcomer status as he explores the true heart of a man. An illuminating anatomy of a murder and the ripple effect it produces within a family and a community, The King of Lies is a stunning debut.
Customer Reviews:
Worth your time to read from this new author.......2007-10-19
John Hart has written a solid first novel. It takes place in the Carolinas where "Work" Pickens is a struggling attorney with a wife who has a champagne taste on their beer pocketbook. "Work's" father, Ezra, made a fortune as a big time plaintiff lawyer, but in the process he had alienated both "Work" and Jean (the daughter).
Ezra is found dead and the mystery begins with all types of people entering the fray. Jean, her lover Alex, Works' wife Barbara and an old girlfriend of Work are all potential suspects....but who killed Ezra? Who had the motive and the desire for the fortune he had when he died?
John Hart writes a solid novel with enough twists that kept me interested. It's not a perfect book and the ending ties up a bit too neatly (don't most novels?), but it's worth the time to read this quality book and I look forward to more great reads from this author.
Best I've read this year!.......2007-10-09
When someone said you can't put this one down, they were absolutely right. Hart has won a place on my "keep 'cause your gonna want to re-read this one in your old age" shelf. Wow - great characters, so well described, that you willingly walk in their shoes and feel their pain. The story line was original and felt fresh. How many books have you picked up lately, and it's the same old, same old? King of Lies was a breath of clear, fresh air, - or maybe I should say humid, soggy, boggy air - I do love those Carolina settings. Hart is a master of the descriptive phrase "the decision stole into me like a thief" - "the physical slap of harsh words" - if you're like me, you'll wish for a yellow marker to preserve them. This review will be short, as I must go out and get Hart's new book, Down River - I can't wait to get back to the Carolinas! Time well spent - bravo, John Hart.
The King of Lies.......2007-08-23
The author wrote a remarkable book, full of mystery, heartfelt emotion, and suspense.
Written in a first person perspective, the book so powerfully drew me into Work's world that I felt I was leaving a friend when I stopped reading, and couldn't wait to pick up the book again to reconnect with him.
Congratulations to John Hart for well deserved success with his first book! I look forward with great anticipation to the release of his next book, Down River, on October 2nd.
I admit it: I'm jaded. I did not expect this book to capture me like it did.......2007-08-16
Two late nights, and I was done. Not just another thriller, not like the others.
Hart's quiet, tortured protagonist Jackson Workman Pickens--known to all as Work--lives in the wake of his attorney father Ezra whose mysterious disappearance inhabits every crevice of his troubled life. Mix in a depressed, damaged sister, an ungrateful trophy wife, and the ruin of an inherited legal practice, and you have quite the mess when Ezra turns up murdered and Work is the prime suspect. The characters might seem like the ones we've read about before, but Hart is careful to give each a depth and "realness" that takes them beyond the stock thriller cast.
Hart, as North Carolina lawyer-turned-novelist knows trouble, and reading this double-quick, stylized novel shows off not only his sharp skills in storytelling but also an uncanny ability to grab a reader by the throat and not let go until the final page. A first novel that recalls early Grisham--when his stories were visceral--Hart makes the violence done to his father personal ("I saw a porcelain stretch of jawbone and remembered whiskers there..."), but Hart complicates things by Work's dispassionate reaction: "this was the most human my father had ever appeared to me."
As the title promises, lies abound everywhere, leaving the reader to wonder how the truth will out. (Unlike a few other prescient readers, I didn't figure out the end until I was there.) Hart, whose prose style makes me think of recent Dennis Lehane, allows the red herrings to perch on every well-tuned character's shoulder, and still delivers the ending that satisfies but never manipulates.
I await novel number two and expect that Hart is going to take us to the next level. Long live the literary thriller.
Outstanding Debut Novel.......2007-08-12
Hart captures the essence of small town life in this multi-layered story. The main character, 'Work', finds himself caught in a web of greed, power, and deceit after the murder of his father. The small town setting, and Works' reaction to the events around him, carry a ring of authenticity.
While the unveiling of the murderer is not a shock, it provides the most satisfying of the possible conclusions. Most of the other characters, while certainly flawed, just would not have fit the murderer role as well.
What makes this book deserve 5 stars is Hart's tight control on the plot, and his commitment to keeping the story true to its setting . Almost every scene and every conversation added meaning to the storyline. The only complaint I have was mentioned by another reviewer. The hit and run plotline towards the end seems a little forced. The same result could have been achieved with a more plausible approach.
Book Description
This comprehensive lexicon provides definitions of nautical terms, historical entries describing the people and political events that shaped the period, and detailed explanations of the scientific, medical, and biblical references that appear in the novels.

Surfing the Sea of Words.......2007-10-18
An illuminating volume to have on hand as you read the Patrick O'Brian Series. Provides back story and details of those times, along with maps and diagrams. Nauticle terminanolgy decoded. Highly reccomend, could only wish for more diagrams.
A need to have.......2007-10-05
This book is a fundamental reading for those who love O'Brian books and want to make the most of of them.
A couple more pictures would have helped, but it gives you all you need to know to enhance your reading experience
Not that impressed with this book.......2007-10-02
I was fairly disappointed with this book, given some of the rave reviews I've read about it. In a consequtive fashion, several of the phrases I looked up weren't in there, to the point where I gave up using it and am just reading the books.
Perhaps it's for the best though, the book flows better without interuption, if at the expense of full understanding. I wouldn't recommend buying this book. It doesn't answer what you need it for -- terms that aren't used anymore, but aren't in the dictionary either.
This is a great book, however.......2007-09-25
It still needs expansion; in particular with regard to the dialect of the times to make it complete, and there remain nautical terms that need definitions. I suppose that I need to visit the website or see if there is a method of placing requests for additional words or terms.
Still, I feel that it is a must buy if one plans to read the entire series.
Sea of Words.......2007-09-14
This is a must have book when reading the series as it explains many of the unfamiliar terms. Highly recommend you get it and use it when you are unfamiliar with things talked about in the books. Also recommend Harbors and High Seas: 3rd Edition by the same authors. This will show you where the ships went on Jack's voyages.

Book Description
Reflecting the variety of modern Spanish literature, these stories range from the sharp insights of Gabriel García Marquez's María dos Prazeres to Isabel Allende's powerful evocation of the oral traditions of the Amerindian Walimai, the deceptive simplicity of Javier Marías's On the Honeymoon, and the philosophical speculation of Laura Freixas's Absurd Ending.

Excellent learning tool.......2006-03-14
This book begins with easy stories, mostly in present tense. It progresses to more difficult stories. The stories are by Latino authors, so you have the additional bonus of Latino culture with the stories. The back of the book gives brief information about the authors. It includes exercises, some to be answered orally and others written, and a Spanish glossary. It's a good tool to have in your "bag of tricks" for learning and improving your Spanish.
Challenging!.......2006-03-13
Not quite as simple as I'd anticipated before purchase. If you are a beginner this would be a good book to help practise pronounciation - if you have someone around to correct you. As an intermediate learner this book is quite challenging especially since you translate the Spanish 'literally' and the English version is a proper translation, so after that initial shock it's quite good reading. However, you also have to get over the idiomatic expressions. The stories are quite good otherwise and make a great read in English if the Spanish is too difficult.

Good to help you secure your learning.......2001-12-19
Definitely not a beginners book. Probably comes in at the intermediate level & above. Assumes you know the complete verb system...the stories throw pretty much everything at you in terms of sentence construction. The more advanced you are, the less you need to depend on the English translation and just read the stories in Spanish, which even by themselves are treasures (I. Allende, G. Garcia Marquez, C. Fuentes among the estimable authors included).
The translations are a joy to read, because you notice right away that there's not this word-for-word transliteration that you get with many attempts at parallel texts. The translators (each credited in their own right) really try to bring across in English the feeling and emotion that the writer intended when they penned the original Spanish. It's eye-opening. On top of that, the book's editor John R. King has added about 20 - 30 or so footnotes per story that really take your understanding to a new level. A great example: in the first story, he adds a footnote to denote when the two characters in the story slip from using formal verb construction into informal. It would have slid right by me, had it not been for the footnote. And it does mark a definite change in the direction of the story.
Really good stuff.
Good literature and great linguistics.......2001-08-15
Short Stories in Spanish improves ones language skills through enjoyable stories and excellent linguistic explanations. These stories come from many different spanish speaking countries, which allows the student to be exposed to different style and slang. Not only are the stories translated correctly, but certain words, names, and phases are explained in depth relating to culture or history. Furthermore, the difficulty of this book is from advanced beginner to expert.

O'Brian Companion.......2007-10-05
I am more than 1.2 way through the Patrick O'Brian / Jack Aubury series and being a sailor have enjoyed the books very much. This companion allows an even deeper appreciation for the series as it allows me to visualize the places where the historical fiction is taking place.
harbors and high seas.......2007-09-14
This is a must have book when reading the Aubrey-Maturin series. It brings to life the voyages through maps and synopses of each place the ships traveled. Also it explains that some of the locations are fictional but places them in likely locations. I really enjoyed this book and wish I had it when i began reading the series. You have to get it.
Good companion book.......2007-08-22
A great companion book to the O'Brian "Master and Commander" Series. It's nice to see the maps of the places described in the books. It was especially helpful in being able to picture fight scenes and ships positioning. If you want to be able to visualize what the author wants you to see, buy this book.
For the true O'Brien aficionado's out there . . .......2006-06-30
A wonderfully illustrated geographical guide to the complete series. Great for both historians and the geographically-challenged, this book enhances the enjoyment of each novel. While King tries hard to avoid any 'spoilers' one has to be careful in looking at the route plots too early in each novel lest you see unexpected developments revealed - or, as Jack Aubrey would say, you'll be brought by the lee like a true lubber! Enjoy.
a rather weak effort.......2005-12-21
I dislike rambling Amazon user reviews, and so I'll keep this short; Mr. King's book is reasonably good in terms of maps, though one might wish that a few more were added. The introductory material is somewhat interesting, if a bit simplistic. The prose leaves something to be desired; I found myself constantly irritated by particularly inept turns of phrase.
All of this could be forgiven, though, if it were not for the most disappointing aspect --- which is the reason I'm writing this review --- namely, King's summaries of the novels. These summaries were one of the main reasons I decided to buy the book. I had read the first 14 O'Brian novels over the course of three months, earlier this year, but a fall semester of full-time graduate studies understandably pulled me away from the adventures; I found that the passage of time had left the exact order of events a bit hazy, and so I was looking forward to reading summaries of the first 14 installments. King's summaries are truly terrible; he usually recounts only the battles in any given book, if that much, and rarely mentions anything else of note (Diana Villiers and Sophie Aubrey are mentioned only twice each, in passing; Wray is mentioned once). Also, in order to 'avoid spoiling the endings,' he has left out the most important plot points of each novel; in certain cases he will leave out the entire final third of a plot, because to summarize that aspect of the novel would be to 'give away the ending,' which seems to me extremely idiotic if one's stated goal is to provide summaries of the novels (and not, say, a book review, in which one wouldn't want to give away the ending).
