A Little Disappointed.......2007-09-23
I was disappointed in Hannah and Jonas' "personalities" - they didn't ring true from previous books, neither did the other sisters' actions. The only one truly believable was the Russian and Jackson. I still enjoyed the book, but nearly as much as her other books.
Romance with a Paranormal twist.......2007-09-21
once again Christine Feehan out does her self with this tale of a sister of 7 witches that takes you on an adventure that is not soon forgoten.. a must read...
Slightly Disappointed .......2007-09-17
I had to see what happened to the next sister but, was disappointed in the story. The well known character of Jonas seemed to be a totally different person than he was in the rest of the series. I found his description and actions in this book to be totally different than what I have grown to see and think of him as. That really distracted me from the story as I read it. Also, as much as I love Christine Feehan's books her recent ones have seemed to lack something that I just can't put my finger on. I'm sure when the next Drake sisters book comes out I'll get it but, I will have lowered expectations.
Jonas and Hannah-Together Forever.......2007-09-15
I loved this book! I bought and read it all in one afternoon/evening! The only thing I am going to say is that I found some of the reviews a bit shocking...
One by "Anonymous" titled 'Still good, but a bit tedious'-If you're going to dis Christine Feehan's novels you can't even leave a nickname-instead of -Anonymous-?!
Another two reviews one by "30 Book a month reader" titled 'Summarize' and one by "Reader" titled 'A huge disappointment' Why didn't you take the books and give them to your local library? Why not sell them, exchange them? Our landfills are big enough as it is and not only that...I don't know about any of you readers, but with the economy the way it is I don't have money to throw in the garbage!
Anyhow back to the review...
This was one of the most beautiful love stories, making me laugh, cry and terrified all at the same time. This is what true romance is all about-the all too human way that people who truly love each other act. This is what family is all about people-admitting your mistakes when you're wrong-learning to see yourself as you truly are, flaws and all. I felt Safe Harbor was jam packed with romance, action, suspense, and tenderness. Maybe some feel that Jonas and Hannah are too human and their feelings and emotions hit all too close to home because all of us can relate to them in some way. Remember it takes all kinds to make the world. Keep up the good work Christine! I'm look forward to Ilya and Joley's book and Jackson and Elle's!
Safe Harbor (Drake Sisters - Book 5) by Christine Feehan.......2007-09-06
Wow! A totally satisfying story of Hannah Drake and Jonas Harrington. Feehan alludes to problems Hannah has had while growing up, but doesn't really pinpoint why Hannah is sooooo shy. Is it because of her empathic senses that she needed to shut herself, mentally, emotionally, and physically, away from others? Wasn't there anyone --- besides Jonas and her family --- who could understand her anguish? Couldn't her aunts, all gifted women, help her to cope by teaching her ways to control her abilities? I would have liked to have read a little bit more about Hannah's youth and how her past lead to her profession as a model. There were little snatches from Hannah's past alluding to her shyness, but not a clear picture of the "why."
Jonas' character has been developed through all of the previous books. He's loud in his protectiveness, bossy, a take charge kind of guy; all necessary attributes for a cop. And, to keep himself in the forefront of Hannah's thoughts, he goads, needles, and verbally jabs at her. How could you not love Jonas? He's a manly man with a gooey heart which, of course, gets him into trouble at the wrong times and forces the "sisters" to rescue him time, and time again.
Safe Harbor is a very satisfying book and makes one eager for the next.

Saunders Drug Book.......2007-08-11
I am a medical transcriptionist and the Saunders Pharmaceutical Word Book is a terrific reference for the beginner or the experienced transcriptionist. I recommend it highly.
Saunders Pharmaceutical Word Book.......2007-07-13
Has a host of pharmaceutical words and a brief description of their meanings. It gives alternate names for drugs, and often cites the average dosage prescribed.
Just what I needed........2007-05-15
I have always found Saunders Pharmaceutical Word Book to be the best for helping me research new drugs as a medical transcriptionist. Excellent resource!
Saunders Pharmaceutical Word Book 2007.......2007-03-09

Saunders Pharmaceutical Word Book 2007.......2007-03-08
This is my second purchase of the Saunders word book over a course of 6 years, and I like it the best for medical transcription work. The drugs are easy to find.
Book Description
Human survival depends on a continuing energy supply, but the need for ever-increasing amounts of energy poses a dilemma: How can we provide the benefits of energy to the population of the globe without damaging the environment, negatively affecting social stability, or threatening the well-being of future generations? The solution will lie in finding sustainable energy sources and more efficient means of converting and utilizing energy. This textbook is designed for advanced undergraduate and graduate students as well as others who have an interest in exploring energy resource options and technologies with a view toward achieving sustainability. It clearly presents the trade-offs and uncertainties inherent in evaluating and choosing different energy options and provides a framework for assessing policy solutions.
Sustainable Energy includes illustrative examples, problems, references for further reading, and links to relevant Web sites. Outside the classroom, the book is a resource for government, industry, and nonprofit organizations. The first six chapters provide the tools for making informed energy choices. They examine the broader aspects of energy use, including resource estimation, environmental effects, and economic evaluations. Chapters 7-15 review the main energy sources of today and tomorrow, including fossil fuels, nuclear power, biomass, geothermal energy, hydropower, wind energy, and solar energy, examining their technologies, environmental impacts, and economics. The remaining chapters treat energy storage, transmission, and distribution; the electric power sector; transportation; industrial energy usage; commercial and residential buildings; and synergistic complex systems. Sustainable Energy addresses the challenges of integrating diverse factors and the importance for future generations of the energy choices we make today.

Useful book to collect all in one the main subjects about the topic. Useful handbook to have at hand a rigorous point to start to study the subject without loosing between information.
Book Description
Paris in the '70s was running at full tilt -- a new order was coming into view amid hedonism, ambition, and outrageous decadence. This was a fashion revolution, the beginning of fashion as rock-star spectacle, and the world went wild for it. Alicia Drake writes about the dramatic collision and rivalry between two titanic geniuses, Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld, whose clashes sparked that tumultuous decade. Americans came to Paris in droves - from Andy Warhol and Jerry Hall to Bianca Jagger and Jessica Lange -- to be part of this irresistible moment. Others came just to catch sight of Karl Lagerfeld strutting around the cafs in his high heels and furs. Drake vividly captures the stunning highs and heartbreaking lows, the glorious achievements and dramas of an era when style reigned in the most glamorous of cities.
Customer Reviews:
Imposible to put down, a must read for fashion lovers.......2007-08-09
A wonderfully writen and very entertaining book. Excelent read for those lovers of fashion, of Paris, of glamour and most of all of human conduct.
Portrait of an exciting carefree era left behind. Forgive my english!
The Beautiful Fall.......2007-07-04
Alicia Drake's "The Beautiful Fall" was the most fascinating and informative book about the last fifty years of the world of haute couture I have read to date. In essence it was the joint biography of Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld, but it also created a vivid picture of the Parisian fashion scene during the period.
The book was meticulously researched and filled with marvellous anecdotes and characters, including Antonio Lopez, Paloma Picasso, and Loulou de la Falaise, to name just a few.
Especially interesting was the inimitable Pierre Berge, the business brain behind Yves Saint Laurent.
I originally found out about this book in a newspaper article about the court case in France over its contents. Karl Lagerfeld sued the author, but in my opinion, it was Yves Saint Laurent whose image was tarnished. Saint Laurent was portrayed as a self-centred, immature man who became increasingly reclusive with time. Lagerfeld, on the other hand, was portrayed as a survivor thanks to his own creativity, hard work and business acumen.
This book inspired me to research Saint Laurent's collections, and I'm sorry to say that my doubts about his reputation as a "genius" were confirmed. The archives on his own website revealed that his talent did not measure up to the hype. The relentless repetition of similar designs from season to season did not equate to great creativity or fashion intelligence. If anything, Saint Laurent could be credited with creating the "Ugly Betty" look: dull suits with pussycat bow blouses, "bridesmaid" style evening dresses and safari suits.
I had to conclude that had it not been for the amazing support and business leadership of Pierre Berge, Yves Saint Laurent would have become just one of the many forgotten couturiers who featured in the history of haute couture, after his brief stint at Christian Dior.
A Tremendous Book.......2007-05-23
I used to write about fashion (I was the first person -- god help me! -- to put fashion in US magazine so many years ago), so I picked up Ms. Drake's book with a great deal of anticipation.
I loved it, sat down and read it in practically one day. It is all here -- the talent, the heartbreak, the excess, the bitchy jealous (oh -- the bitchy jealousy), and the beauty of fashion that only the French can evoke.
Say what you will, YSL was/is the master. And Ms. Drake has written a tremendous book. I would give it ten stars if I could, she knows from whence she writes, and I look forward to more of her work.
Stunning Evocation of Stars and Decade.......2007-05-23
Fashion is not a particular interest of mine; but after I heard Alicia Drake talk at the LA Times Festival of Books, I bought her bio and dove in. The Beautiful Fall is the most exciting book I've read in the last six months at least. It's a page turner, a rhapsody of sensory indulgence. Her evocations of the clothes demonstrate why she's a sought-after fashion journalist--I could see these collections, feel the fabrics, hear the pulsating music at the runway show, smell the truckloads of flowers YSL had sent from Paris to his country manor in Normandie.
You don't have to know much about fashion to be captivated by her ying-yang portrayal of YSL and Lagerfeld. The book bristles with details, the entourages sauntering off the page and into an array of dazzling parties that are so characteristic of the 70s zeitgeist.
The rivalries, the sumptuous locales, the music and drugs and personalities--it's all here. If you want an escape from the quotidian--read this book.
Must-read for anyone even remotely interested in fashion.......2007-04-08
I have been a fashion writer for about 10 years and this is absolutely one of the best fashion biographies I've read since perhaps DV by Mrs. Vreeland. The Beautiful Fall is beautifully written--a richly detailed account of Paris in the 50's through 80's packed with fashion and Parisian history, insight, and delicious gossip and scandal. You'll feel like you're there at the party and front row at shows that took place long before the televised mania over fashion began in America in the early '90s. Fabulous photos, as well.
Book Description
New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan presents the story of Sarah, the eldest of the extraordinary-and magical-Drake sisters, now rewritten and expanded, in this very special collector's edition.
"Sarah Drake has come home." Ever since Damon Wilder sought refuge in Sea Haven, he's heard the same breathless rumor pass the lips of nearly every local in the sleepy coastal town. Even the wind seems to whisper her name-a reverie so powerfully suggestive that it carries the curious Damon to Sarah's cliff-top home, and seeks to shelter him there. But Damon has not arrived alone. A killer has tracked him to Sea Haven, and into the shadows of Drake House. But Sarah has her own secrets, and danger-as well as a desire more urgent than either has ever known-is just a whisper away...
Customer Reviews:
Drake Sisters - Magic in the Wind.......2007-10-14
I had read two of the Drake Sisters books and wanted to read the first one. I was disappointed with the size of the book at first, because it was very thin.
But with Feehan's usual flair, she made the book come alive with her descriptions of people, places and things. What could be just reading becomes alive in the mind and when the last page is finished, there is a certain loneliness where the characters dwelt during the reading.
I strongly recommend Christine Feehans books to men and women alike.
Drake Series Book 1.......2007-10-05
Okay this book is really just a short story it just has about a hundred pages or so. Basis of story is Damon Wilder has come to Sea Haven and everyone is talking about Sarah Drake has come home. Sarah is a secuirty expert and Damon is some kind of lab guy well the bad guys are after him and Sarah and her sisters fight back. We are introduced to all the characters for upcoming books. This was basically getting to know the charcters for the Drake Sisters series. I loved Hannah and Jonas you just know they are getting together. Four stars because romance between main characters was pretty tame for me but like I said was not a whole book so that might have something to do about it. I would suggest getting it because the other books in this series are really good and this is a good starter book.
Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters - Book 1) by Christine Feehan.......2007-09-06
I've enjoyed the first 5 stories about the Drake sisters, Sarah, Kate, Abby, Libby, and Hannah. Magic in the Wind is about the oldest sister Sarah and her love interest Damon Wilder. I must say, though, it wasn't enough. On one hand, as the lead into a series, I would have wanted more in the overall background for the sisters before moving into Sarah's story. And, because Sarah is such a exciting person in and of herself, I would have liked to have had more information on her professional life and how she used her abilities in her work. A more detailed Damon story would have been good --- the brief references to his past was not satisfying to the overall storyline.
Of course, on the other hand, a novella like 'Magic in the Wind' would leave some readers eager for more . . . such as 'The Twilight before Christmas' which is Kate and Matt Granite's story.
I love Christine Feehan's books, and eagerly look forward to Joley and Elle's stories. I expect these to be fabulous --- and totally satisfying!
Great find!.......2007-08-28
This was a book I needed to start a series, but it had been out for a few years. I couldn't find it any place else but here. I received it in only a matter of days. I was very pleased!!
Very short book (Barely over 100 pages).......2007-08-14
This story originally appeared in Lover Beware--a book with 4 short stories.
Ths was the first of the Drake sisters novels--Sarah and Damon.
Two okay characters. Not one of my favorites, but if you are reading the Drake sisters, you should read this. It won't take long. LOL It's not a bad read in any way. Just not one of my favorites.
Book Description
Clown Girl lives in Baloneytown, a seedy neighborhood where drugs, balloon animals, and even rubber chickens contribute to the local currency. Against a backdrop of petty crime, she struggles to live her dreams, calling on cultural masters Charlie Chaplin, Kafka, and da Vinci for inspiration. In an effort to support herself and her layabout performance-artist boyfriend, Clown Girl finds herself unwittingly transformed into a "corporate clown," trapping herself in a cycle of meaningless, high-paid gigs that veer dangerously close to prostitution. Monica Drake has created a novel that riffs on the high comedy of early film stars — most notably Chaplin and W. C. Fields — to raise questions of class, gender, economics, and prejudice. Resisting easy classification, this debut novel blends the bizarre, the humorous, and the gritty with stunning skill.
Customer Reviews:
Awesome .......2007-10-05
i have been in and out of the hospital alot this past year. And the moments where the main characater is thinking about what to say and not say to the drs. is brillant. I was laughing out loud at the coffee shop. This book is a must read.
Fantastic!.......2007-09-23
I can't do this book any justice by writing a review. The reviews on the back of the book didn't tell me what I was going to get out of it, it was extremely personal. Monica Drake was able to combine issues such as: unintentional and intentional creative whoring in business, the sickness of life, love defined in a Buddhist fashion and a sensational struggle resolved in a finale defining the category of a classic. The character development is such that I have already imagined who I would cast for the film. I have already passed the book along to a friend as a MUST READ, and if they don't I will doubt we ever had anything in common at all. Or they're just too busy or too lazy. My favorite book... that's what this is.
i AM clown girl.......2007-08-29
i loved this book. Monica Drake is such an amazingly descriptive writer i felt like i was living in Nita's world. it was heart wrenching and darkly funny. i related so much to Nita, all her ups and "pratfalls". i didn't want the book to end.
A very good debut.......2007-08-12
I, like most people, probably checked this out because of Chuck Palahniuk's name on the cover. This was a very good novel, and it definatly kept my interest throughout, but lacked in shocking moments that seem to occur in Chuck's books. Also it was a very short read, but definatly worth checking out.
Make Me Smile.......2007-07-18
As I understand it,a book focused on a clown should make you laugh(with tears mixed in).I did and so will you.I compare it to A Confederacy of Dunces.Monica's debut stands on it's own,w/out Chuck Palahniuk's endorsement.Bada Boom!

Loved this Christmas/Paranormal Romance!.......2007-10-05
Okay this is book 2 in the Drake series and it was great! Matt and Kate are so good together. Basis of story is Matt is an Army Ranger and he has returned home to Sea Haven and he is totally in love with Kate Drake, that scene with the truck was so funny I mean he runs off the road and his brother is just making things worse. It is Christmas time and there is a haunting. I loved the little poem above each chapter it was telling you sort of what was happening in the book. Jonas and Hannah are so cute together I mean you know it is true love when Hannah blows his hat off everytime she sees him lol! Sex was pretty steamy and the story kept me intrested till the end oh yeah another great Jonas and Hannah moment.
twilight before chrismas.......2007-09-21
This is one of the best books in the drake sisters series. A must read in a christine feehan fan club.
Drake Sister series is terrific.......2007-09-20
Christine Feehan is an excellent writer and I've loved all of her books. Twilight Before Christmas is yet another example of her great writing skills, as she excels at bringing characters to life for you so that you care about them, not just the love story. I highly recommend this book, as well as the whole Drake Sisters series.
Good Chick Book.......2007-09-02
Great summer read and fun for adult women. As the series progresses the plots get better but all have the hot romantics interests.
Kate's story........2007-08-14
This was a nice romantic read.
Matt Granite (former military) has had a crush on Kate since school. And Kate has liked Matt. She is shy around him. They end up finally getting together to redo a haunted house. There are ghosts coming after them that Kate can stop with her "abilities."
Enjoyed it!
Book Description

On the trail of stolen Russian antiquities, he's a relentless Interpol agent--and the man who once broke Abby's heart. But he isn't going to let the only woman he's ever loved slip away again.
Customer Reviews:
Loved it!!!!!!!!.......2007-08-31
This is definitely my favorite story of the bunch, it centers around Abbey and Aleksandr and we get to know a lot more about them and understand more of their back story, (especially since abigail isnt mentioned a lot in the other books much to my disappointment as she is definiteley one of my favorite characters). Aleksandr was trained from birth to be a ruthless agent and he became a police officer who needed a little help on solving a case so he turned to a lady known for her powers of discovering and envincing the truth, little does he know that he would fall in love with her. Abigail didnt know that he knew about her powers beforehand so she though that he wanted her for herself an she tried to help him on his case but things went wrong during questioning and Abbey lost faith in both her powers and in aleksandr. Abigail loves aleksandr but she has to find a way to trust in both him as well as her powers again before she can accept him back into her life, especially since she's in danger and he's bound and determined to protect her and keep her in his life.
Abigail's Story.......2007-08-14
This was one of my favorites.
I liked both characters: Abigail and Alexsandr Volstov
I enjoyed reading about swimming with the dolphins and all the water adventures that went with this story.
It was nicely written and oh so romantic.
I've read better...........2007-07-06
I was not impressed with any of the Drake Sisters series. There was nothing there to keep me wanting to know more about the sisters. It didn't hold my attention. The "magic" was not enough to hold my attention.
Another thing that bothered me is that everyone just took for granted that the sisters had their "magical" powers. They didn't try to hide it and it didn't bother anyone. No one questioned them. Maybe secrecy would have made the series more interesting.
I was definitely not impressed. I'm hoping the Dark Series will be better, but from what I know about them, they seem like a ripoff of the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I guess I'll have to see.
THIS BOOK BURNS WHITE HOT!!!!!!.......2007-06-09
This book was so good. It was so full of angst. I would advise anyone and everyone to read this book as well as the other books in the series. Of all of the books in the series this was the first one I read and my all time favorite.
I love these Drake Sisters!.......2007-05-09
I really like the drake sisters series. I started with the one with Libby and liked them so much I needed to go backward to read the sisters before her. I loved the story of Alexsander and Abigail. The previous conflict between them was handled well with little drama and a lots of information that did not interefere with the plot line of the actual book. Christine Feehan delivers a wonderful paranormal romantic suspense everytime.

Customer Reviews:
Great "Science".......2007-09-07
It's a beautifully produced, funny, most amazing book I've seen on the "science" of Dragonology. Very good idea, beautiful illustrations, witty text, fun pull-outs, even samples of shed dragon skin, wing membranes and dragon dust. We learn much about dragons, from their life cycles and behaviors to their flying techniques... At today's meeting all mother's from my son's preschool made a collective order for 17 copies of Dragonology together with additional 17 copies of Why Some Cats are Rascals ( Book 3) - an incredibly educational cats stories for children. Especially Book 3 of the series gives a lot of information about American history and geography.
Terrific!.......2007-08-05
My now-9-year-old daughter has ALWAYS been fascinated by dragons and dinosaurs; there has never been a time when she wasn't. Today was a Dragonology birthday. This book and it's companions (Dragonology Handbook, Dragonology game, toys, etc.) are an utter delight to children AND adults alike. It's amazingly real, and even has me wondering if Ernest Drake was a real man and lived in the 19th and 20th centuries. It's SO much fun for my daughter to actually be able to study dragons in an in-depth manner. But, I think Komodo Dragons will always have a special place in her heart. I highly recommend this book and its companions to any dragon-lover!
Taken For What It Is, It's Good.......2007-07-19
What it is is a Children's dragon book, obviously influenced by "Tolkien's" Mythology. This book would be most entertaining to the tween-early teen market. Repetitive insert of the "dragon dust" cost this book another star. In the end it's a pleasant read that gives a nice overview of several breeds of dragons.
THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-06-21
This is probley the best book i have ever read! (well, thats not counting fantasie...) Look, i am 12,and I think its great. I firmly belive in Dragons, faries, and things of those sort. The drawings are great, and it has just about as much information on dragons as you will ever need. Five star!
