Morning and evening meditations to literally create your heart's desire.

Hmmmmmm..........2007-10-03
I bought this CD because I really wanted to learn how to quiet my mind and I figured learning an effective way to meditate would be a good way to do it. It turns out here's this audio-book that not only claims to teach you how to meditate, but to use the meditations to manifest what you desire in your life. Sounds like a good deal, right?...
Like other reviewers, I find the constant fluctuation in pitch in Dyer's own "ahs" and "ohms" irritating as well as the religious references (I am an atheist, however I do get that other people have other beliefs - when listening to the numerous god references here, I actively interpret 'god' as 'the universe', 'oneness' or 'myself' in an attempt to get something out of the material and at least give the meditations a try). My biggest beef with this recording is that, again, I wanted to learn how to meditate as a way to quiet my ever-racing mind and I find myself getting really annoyed at the part of the morning/'ah' meditation where Dyer says (paraphrased) "The problem with being able to manifest things through sound is the mind gets in the way..." and I'm thinking "Oh yes! FINALLY I'll get the answer to quieting the constant, cacophonous racket in my head and FINALLY learn how to focus" and then he says "...so what you need is a technique to help the mind to disappear. And as the mind begins to disappear you have access to this higher consciousness...", but then he says nothing further at all about how to make your mind disappear or where to go to find this 'mind-disappearing technique' that he refers to. He just drones on with the ahs and affirmations and I'm left trying to just use my own voice to drown out the wild and wandering thoughts that keep flying through my head while at the same time trying to force myself to focus on gaining 'peace of mind' - the thing I really want to "manifest" in the first place.
I've only been doing this for a week now and I'm trying my best to be optimistic and open and just stick with it and see if I get any results, but I already feel compelled to express my disappointment in what I'm seeing here as a half-hearted and even somewhat negligent approach to producing this material.
Note to Dr. Wayne Dyer: Don't suggest that the listener need a certain thing first in order for the whole rest of your program to work and then not provide that certain necessary thing or even mention how or where to get it. I even went to your website to see if you had any clues on how to 'make your mind disappear', but didn't find any such information - maybe it's in another one of your publications (in which case I'll never know).
I love it!.......2007-09-25
I really enjoy this cd. I have been listening to it for a couple of weeks, in the morning and in the evening and it clears my mind, helps me focus, and gives me a feeling of connection and clarity. It is easy to follow along and I would recommend it to everyone.
AWFUL! Hasn't this man made enough money yet?.......2007-09-25
The Wayne Dyer one man cottage industry in banal platitudes never rests it seems! Product after product careens onto the market featuring Mr. Dyer spewing unending streams of philosphical homilies cadged from a number of other sources, liberally intermixed with his own facile and patently absurd comments such as "you have created everything in your own life". Previous titles pale in comparison with this one; could have been sub-titled "Caterwauls with gusto".
the practical and effective way to meditate .......2007-09-21
I have had some great success with this cd. This is a very effective way
to integrate meditation into your daily living. You see, my problem with meditation was doing it. This is a great way to give yourself a daily, finite program that helps to build the discipline involved to carry forward. I have the book too, and have gotten wonderful results from this disc.
Highly Recommended Meditation Tool .......2007-09-03
I have to say I love this CD! I would recommend it to anyone wanting to experiment with a different style of meditation or to deepen his or her existing meditation practice. Dr. Dyer guides the listener gently through a series of chanting and affirmations in the morning and chanting and contemplation in the evening. Unlike some reviewers here, I find his voice and the background music to be well-suited for this type of practice and have found working with the vibrations of the sound of my voice to be a real deepening experience over time.
I got this CD several years ago and did the meditations faithfully morning and night for a week. I started having very vivid dreams at night - not scary, but extremely rich and vivid. At that time I decided it was too much for me at that point in my practice, and cut back on using it as a daily meditation. However, since then I have experimented with different styles of meditation and have had periods where I've taken out this CD and used it for a few days or so at a time. I come back to it like an old friend.
The reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that I am not a fan of Meher Baba and Dr. Dyer uses some of his sayings in the evening meditation. It is probably a cultural thing, but I just don't like or admire that guy. At first I found these sayings to be alternately silly, irritating, distracting, even infuriating. However, I've learned to use that time to practice gratitude and non-attachment while I'm chanting my "OM's", and usually have a very deep, rich meditation experience.
Book Description
What every man wishes he knew about what his wife desires most.
Authors Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker (with Mike Yorkey) believe that every man can meet the secret desires of his wife. The problem is, most of us aren't exactly sure what that desire is and how we can go about fulfilling it faithfully.
In Every Man's Marriage, you can discover the common misconceptions about what it means to exercise biblical authority, and understand the role of submission in the marriage relationship. This groundbreaking book can help men grasp and apply essential but often overlooked principles for marital leadership.
Through candid reflections on their own struggles to achieve biblical unity in their own marriages, along with many years of combined experience in marital counseling, Arterburn and Stoeker apply solid, time-tested biblical wisdom to the everyday potential distortions that can lead to strife in a marriage.
The second book in the Every Man series, this is the perfect follow-up to the best-selling Every Man's Battle. Every Man's Marriage is a terrific resource for establishing mutual respect and sacrifice in your marriage based on Christ's example of loving His bride, the church.

good ideas...just not great.......2007-07-25
My husband said that he did like the book but it was a little overzealous in that it seems to relate everything to getting more sex from your wife. It kind of got on his nerves that that seemed to be the theme of the book and it seemed repetative. the concepts are good but get overshadowed by this fact. He said most of it was common sense stuff he didnt need a book to figure out.
The Excellent husband.......2007-06-25
You don't see that many male self-help books, but this is one of the best! Rather than telling men how to rule their wives or painting wives as inferior beings, these authors give practical advice to husbands in how to love and respect their wives. My favorite phrase, mutual submission, is spoken greatly of in this book as the practice of a truly Christian marriage. Arterburn neither beats the husband down nor patronizes the wife, but speaks as one Christian man to another about how to be a Godly husband.
I was rather surprised to see some women attacking this book as a book that doesn't understand women. I happen to be a woman and I was very pleased with what the book had to say. You have to keep in mind, ladies, these authors are men and no man can completely understand a woman anymore than a woman can completely understand a man. The important thing is that they're trying! Marriage is not about being perfect or reading your spouse's mind, but about sacrifice, love and respect. In fact, I think the Bible stresses submission so much BECAUSE spouses can't completely understand each other. That's what being a Christian and a partner in marriage is really about.
I highly recommend this to any man. By the way, if you lean more towards the complimentarian view of marriage, don't be scared off by my review. This book speaks of mutual submission, but the authors DO believe that the husband is the leader in the home and they give good advice as to how he can be a loving servant-leader. Along with this, there's lots of wonderful advice for loving and respecting your spouse. As far as respect goes, these authors have certainly earned mine! God bless!
A MUST READ!.......2007-05-29
I don't know if it is because I was finally ready to hear or if it was the heart of the writer; but, this book and prayer saved my marriage. A few years ago my wife and I were hanging by a thread after a series of bad things happened in our marriage. After much prayer and tears she bought this book for me and since it was the only glimpse of light that she might stay in our marriage I read it with an open mind and open heart. Again this book and much prayer saved us. There were so many things that I could relate to and there were so many things that I could honestly say that I wish I knew before we got married. My wife and I are currently "happily" married and I owe it in partial to the knowledge I gained from "Every Man's Marriage". Since, reading this book I purchased it for two of my cousins who are currently engaged and for my boss who recently accepted the Lord! His marriage was in the exact same place my marriage had been so after leading him to the Lord I bought him a bible and this book. They are making progress! Again, I can't beging to express how much the principles in here have changed my life and I highly recommend it to any man who is engaged, newlywed or an old dog who can use new knowledge. This is a great handbook for marriage and for truly touching the heart of your spouse.
effective tool to help your marriage.......2007-04-26
I am reading this book for the 3rd time. The author's are trying to convey that men need to place their wives needs and desires above their own. I can testify that when I "submit" to my wife's desires, my marriage is at it's best and how awesome it is! She has no problem submitting to my leadership when I become a servant leader. Yes, I do believe that the man is the "head" of the house, not because I am smarter(because I'm not) or better(I am definately not). It's because God says someone has to be in charge and man it's you.
No where does the book say that men are better or above women. Some of the previous reviewers somehow read that into the book. They must have opened the book with their mind already made up and refused to look at things from God's perspective based on the Bible.
Thank's to the author's for their humility and candidness.
woman should think about this before they judge.......2007-04-11
So many women complain that men are sex crazed womanizers and basically have doglike behavior. The reason woman say this is because they want to be understood and feel precious in a mans eyes and they think men don't understand and that they do not care. This book is basically telling a man how to make a woman feel like a queen and teach them to understand the heart of a woman. Any woman who denies the fact that the want to be cherished by a man would be denying the very nature of her heart. I am a woman. Also a married woman. Men need understanding before they gain knowledge of things and this book does a great job in giving a man understanding for a woman. The men who take the time out to read this book are saying that they care and want to be the best husband to their woman as possible. Men and woman are very different in the way we are wired. God wants to give us insight so that we can appreciate each other more. God bless Fred Stoker and Stephen Arterburn for writing this book and also the men that read it.

terrific.......2007-07-14
great book on getting to the true way to solve any problem one may face and I mean any problem.
A Further Step Along 'The Psychic Pathway'.......2007-05-31
I read "Your Heart's Desire" after reading "The Psychic Pathway" by the same author as I believe "The Psychic Pathway" prepares you for this following book. Your spirit must be developed before you can truly look into your heart, your soul, and find what it is you really want.
Then, using these 9 principles Sonia outlines--1)focus 2)the support of the subconscious 3)imagination 4)eliminating obstacles 5)intuitive guidence 6)supporting your dream with love 7)surrending control to the Universe 8)claiming your dream) and 9)being true to your dream, she shows you how you can actually make your dream come true.
I especially liked the 7th principle--in which she says that after you have done the primary work--the Universe kicks in and does its part.
This principle takes faith and patience to wait, as your 'heart's desire' alligns with the Divine Spirit in the Universe.
Writing with a deep sense of the spiritual, an insight gained over years of living and practicing her psychic gifts, Sonia uses examples from her own life and those of her clients to illustrate her points.
She also uses humor and practical good sense to guide the ordinary person into an extraordinary life.
Sonia Choquette makes manifesting easier to learn.......2007-04-09
Before "The Secret" and before the release of "The Law of Attraction" Sonia Choquette was teaching people how to create their dreams in this delightfully easy to read workbook that will help you do the very same. She breaks down the manifestation process into nine easy steps. If you do the exercises, you get results. Period.
I guided hundreds of people through the exercises in this book shortly after it came out and the results were phenomenal. People quit the groups to move to Hawaii, manifested jobs, houses, relationship, right living, you name it. Read this book, and you will create whatever you want too.
Sonia is a truly delightful, humble, and powerful spirit. And if you get a chance to attend any of her seminars, you will be richly rewarded in both bliss and powerful techniques.
Good job Sonia,

My whole new beginning began with this book!.......2007-03-24
I am surprised I haven't written a review before now. I purchased this book almost 4 years ago and it was the catalyst for a whole new life. Sonia is a wonderful teacher, and with this book you not only get step by step guidance toward making your dreams a reality, you open yourself up to a whole new way of experiencing life and the gifts that are waiting for you. This book was my beginning of having the privelege of receiving extensive training from her and teaching this to others. Whether your heart's desire is a new job, house or whole life, this book will empower you to make it happen!
Very Insightful Book.......2007-02-24
I purchased this book after seeing a reference to Sonia in another self help series and I found it to be a very helpful read for those who are ready to take a serious look at what they really want in life. The author talks about her own experiences (including a very uplifting story about how she found a prince charming to take her to a dance) and she gives suggestions about how to prioritize and bring more positive things into your life. Her main point is focusing on positive thinking. However corny it sounds I have found that yes you can get more accomplished by being positive. Even if taking that first positive step forward is a little scary.
One thing I should point out is you have to be ready for this book. No one else can give you a roadmap to navigate your own life. An open mind and positive thinking will help you digest this book and make reading it worthwhile.

Series stays strong........2007-05-27
Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead: The Heart's Desire (Image, 2006)
Kirkman unleashes the fourth installment in his Walking Dead comic series, and as we've come to expect from Kirkman, it's of high quality. When we last left our intrepid band of travelers, they were o the verge of being forced out of the safety they'd found in the prison by an inmate with a grudge against society. Rick's method of solving the problem, and the way he reacts to other, more mundane, stresses that occur amongst the members of the band, makes him-- and those around him-- start to question, if not his sanity, at least his fitness to lead. Kirkman's doing a fine job with this series, and I'm very much looking forward to the next installment. *** ½
The Zombie Classic Continues.......2007-03-31
If Volume 3 was Safety Behind Bars, this installment in the zombie series should be Volume 3.5: Nobody Is Safe. It is still a great series. What more can be said? Kirkman is writing a Modern Zombie Classic, that really about the true nature of humanity. And human frailties are very present in this installment.
If there's a god in Hollywood, he should be making Walking Dead movies, right now.
Again with the awesomness.......2007-03-09
I guess i'm just going to have to write another good review. these damn books just keep on getting better and better, Robert kirkman needs to speed up the release of more zombiestuffs! (not to be confused with foodstuffs)
Cleaning (The Big) House.......2007-02-17
Most of the folks here already know that The Walking Dead saga is a compilation of stories by Robert Kirkman that expand on the story that is well know to any zombie movie fan. The main story. The one started in earnest by George Romero in 1968 with Night of the Living Dead [and was later remade in 1990 (the version that I prefer) by Tom Savini (with Romero oversight)]
The Walking Dead volume 4 continues the story of Police Officer Rick Grimes and his band of normal-world-refugees as they settle into their new home. And it's time to clean house. Clean house of some bad prior residents. Clean house of some undead residents. And clean house of rules made prematurely...like, "You kill, you die." That rule clearly just won't do in The New World.
In volume 4 relationships are forged and strengthened, and relationships are betrayed and broken. A new character (Michonne) is introduced, and she brings with her a strange (split?) personality, a dose of unrest for the gang and--most oddly--an unexplained ability to seemingly tame the undead.
I'm not a regular comic book reader. But I was drawn to The Walking Dead by the volume releases that bring the convenience of being able to get several chapters of the story without the month to month waiting for each issue. And I am now hooked.
The volume releases of The Walking Dead are like reading a screenplay with storyboards of a version of Night of the Living Dead that began simultaneously, but in a different part of the country. Yes, it's kind of a rip-off of a story (stories) already told, but the key is that it's done very very well. The zombies are true to the original Romero creation: slow and stupid as opposed to the 28 Days Later (2002) or 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead fast and thinking zombies.
Each volume takes under an hour to get all the way through, and they leave you wanting more. Volumes 1 through 5 are all available individually. A hard cover edition of volume 1 & 2 is out and a hard cover edition of volumes 3 & 4 is scheduled for early 2007. Volume 6 is scheduled for release the last week of February 2007; I have no info on a hard cover release of volumes 5 & 6, but I'm sure that it will happen if you prefer to wait.
So anyone in need of a very well done zombie fix that you don't put into your DVD player should absolutely get down with The Walking Dead sickness. Add it to your cart, but be sure to start with volume 1 and read them chronologically.
super zombie series..........2007-02-02
don't miss out on the walking dead, one of the best comic book series out there right now. one big thing going for it is who the heck knows what's going to happen next or who's going to get unceremoniously waxed at any second. it's post-apocalyptic greatness, and a must-read.
the series is done in black and white, but the shading is so good i don't even miss the color. big props to whoever does the shading.

A lesson for me?.......2007-08-20
I enjoyed this book. It is a compilation of helpful and inspirational thoughts and ideas from all the other books and tapes currently marketed. Kind of a "cliffs notes" of self-discovery.
The author sets the fictional story in a hospital where an accident victim is recovering. He is met by his father, who he has not seen in decades, and his father gives him some advice and a letter before the father passes away. The letter contains details on three life coaches the son must go meet so he can learn and uncover his true self.
The first coach is a priest in Rome. The priest teaches him how to live wisely, using a metaphor of a stained glass window. You see life colored by your perceptions, like looking through a stained glass window you see things colored by the glass. Change your perceptions and life changes.
The second coach is the surfer, who teaches him how to love well. He teaches him to stop living in his head and start living in his heart. Live in the moment and enjoy what is happening right now. Everything you do comes from a place of love or a place of fear. Where are your thoughts coming from right now.
The third coach is a CEO of a brokerage firm. She teaches him how to serve greatly. Telling him you can get anything you want in life if you just help enough other people get what they want, and you must conduct yourself with the utmost integrity.
The majority of this book I have read or heard in other places. Its not new material, but it is presented in a new way. One part of the book talks about how every meeting with another person is your chance to learn something new. If you keep meeting up with people who are filled with problems or complaints, its because they are being sent to you so you can learn a lesson that you need right now. They will continue to be sent to you, UNTIL you learn these lessons.
I guess that makes sense. Maybe this book came my way because it contains a lesson I still need to learn?
Great book - made me think.......2007-04-06
This was a great book and i really enjoyed the story. I did feel that it was very "simple" and rolled a lot of the messages that one learns along the way (and is looking for it) into one and have the feeling that i couldve saved a lot of time and money just by reading this book first.
Nonetheless, it was a very good book - easy read, very simple and extremely helpful. It made me think about some things and i "feel" good after reading it.
Insightful and Entertaining!.......2007-03-17
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is written as a fictional story, but it is chock-full of wisdom and inspiration.
This book is about determining what really matters in life- not money, not material posessions, but the real stuff of life. The main character meets with three inspirational coaches who each offer a slightly different perspective and different advice on living an extraordinary life.
As a Professional Life Coach, I am always looking for books with deep wisdom and useful metaphors. I read this book with my highlighter in hand and I soon found that I had highlighted nearly the entire book! This is a book I will definitely read again and will recommend to my clients.
The information in this book is not new. Many other self-help books contain similar words of wisdom and advice. What was new about this book was the fact that it was an entertaining and easy read. It also contained many metaphors and examples that made it easy to relate to the concepts presented.
This is a wonderful book for anyone who is searching for meaning in their life. Give yourself time to really absorb the concepts and apply them to your life. You may find your life and your world transformed as a result.
the saint the surfer and the ceo.......2007-01-19
a very good book...quick reading ..good insights...
i recommend this book and follow it with the book who will cry when you die...they go hand in hand..
The best bit was the Surfer section.......2006-01-06
For me, that section held more new insights than the others, which tended to fall into the usual self-help talk. Didn't really like the overall style of writing, it was a bit cloying. But the Surfer section on self-love, abt taking care of yourself with the occasional self-pampering did make me stop and think, which was great!

A quick read that provides some useful guidelines!.......2007-08-09
This little book selects eight areas where a wife can interact with her husband to achieve a happier marriage. All eight areas may not apply to everyone, but they certainly provide a good starting point for strengthening any marriage. The author gives a few examples and suggestions, but leaves most of the applications up to the reader.
According to TerKeurst, the avenues where a godly wife can encourage and stimulate her husband are spiritually, emotionally, sexually, vocationally, intellectually, relationally, physically and permanently. I hadn't really thought about some of these and have benefitted from her insights into how they provide the security and support every husband, indeed every human being needs.
Highly Recommend.......2007-03-29
This short but insightful book was a quick read but it absolutely revolutionized the way I see marriage. I shared some of the insights with my husband and he said, "she's right!" It's also a good easy summer bible study to do with married friends.
One of the best.......2006-11-05
It's a keeper. I found it very helpful and worth rereading.
great little book.......2006-10-18
I dont even know where I got this book.... maybe a in my christmas stocking from my mom one year? I found it on my bookshelf while my husband and I were having a hard time and read a chapter a day. It quickly became one of my fav's. It is very practical and I use the concepts all the time. I try to do something every day to meet one of my husbands needs, and it has definatly blessed us both.
An encouraging quick read.......2006-06-01
This book is a very practical and helpful tool in my "tool box" of books.
I do not particularly read a lot, but I found this book to be quick and filled with concise and useful information.

excellent tool.......2007-03-08
fantastic tool for discovering your heart, and discovering where/how God has been leading you all along
Good...but.......2003-01-28
I've always thought workbooks were kinda' silly. I mean, shouldn't the book itself guide you through its content? Why do you need a second book to help you understand the first. The only guidebook I've ever found that wasn't silly was Experiencing God, but that's a different story.
This guidebook does ask some good questions and should be considered vital if anyone is leading a study of this book. It enables one to articulate their thoughts better. It is, however, mostly blank space for answers to the questions (why not just include the questions in the back of the original book...arg Capitalism!).
All in all, if you're leading a study of this book, it might be a good idea to pick this bad boy up. If not, save your cash and see if you can make it through the book without the guidebook.

A delightful guide for your inner journey.......2004-06-29
Paula Reeves has given us a guide to uncovering our true self. She gently shows us the way through insightful "heart notes" or exercises where one may explore the inner world of our deepest feelings.
With Paula's blessing, I led an 8 week discussion group based on her wonderful book at the Mind-Body Center where I am a Holistic Nurse. The class participants loved the book. As we shared our experiences with the "heart notes" each week, we laughed and cried and opened our hearts to one another. For some, it provided a new perspective. For others, it was a reminder of the way back home to our hearts. For all, it was a joyful experience.
Take the journey, it is worth the trip!
Isn't the Heart always a lonely hunter?.......2004-04-13
Ethan Frome's novel addressed just this concept in his novel, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter," but addressed it from an entirely different perspective, as a story, instead of an analysis, so it is finally a wise perspective to address the actual mechanics of this all too human a journey. While some tend to find their deepest desires made satisfied by religion, the stages of our knowledge tend to define those desires by those experiences we may have missed at some point in life that we felt we would like to have had, or the person with whom we might have been able to develop that so close relationship that we define as one that honors the love we have the capacity to give, or the mountains of achievement yet unconquered. A most common reality is that the longer we live, the more we desire to correct the flaws by which mankind lives, and we perceive the fulfillment of those important failures to be a central focus unless we reach that fork where we must decide to "let it be" and dismiss the misery, and suffering that we see around us. As RFK once said, some ask why, he asked why not. At that fork, the why not "cure or try to cure" those things which need our ideas of morality and ethics and justice to do so. In the unfolding of our greater capacity in later years, this sense of urgency may take a greater part of our concentration, yet still not fulfill those personal needs that we are missing. So, personal reflection well spent can offer the opportunity not to deny ourselves what we wish for others, and recognize that sacrifice is not always the best way to heal oneself, must as the physician said to the other, "physician, heal thyself." If mankind was able to do that, in theory, those deepest desires might become not wishful thinking, or unrealistic dreams, but the realities they were intended to be.
An Intimate Experience.......2003-07-14
Heart Sense invited me to intimately experience the complex intelligence of the heart. As the author's words resonated through me, I found myself becoming excited and curious yet strangely quiet. Intrigued by the process, I settled into a journey that took me to a level of self-discovery that profoundly deepened my awareness-such a gift but far from the only one the book offered. In a powerful and eloquent manner, the author engaged my heart and stimulated my mind. Dr. Reeves skillfully demonstrated her intellectual wisdom as she integrated her broad base of training and education. With superb acuity, she combined theory and practice with years of multi-cultural experience that led me from the surgeon's table to the Outback of Australia.
A Classic in its Time.......2003-04-25
In reading Heart Sense by Dr. Paula Reeves,I have found this book to be a vast and deep sounce of the most practical and applicable knowledge and wisdom for changing your life from a fate-oriented, sad and unfulfilled life to one of living consciously into your own personal destiny .Dr. Reeves has given us a truly brilliant blueprint intergrating the current scientific and medical research with the intuitive wisdom of the body mind heart. For me, this is the jewel in an immense array of "self-help" books out there. It is so much more that it falls beyond that catagory. Thank you, Dr. Reeves, for this profound work.
Heart Sense is heart-felt wisdom!.......2003-04-25
I have just finished reading and doing several of the exercises in Dr. Reeves' wonderful book. She is bold, bone-honest and completely compassionate. What a joy! While her book seems to me to be mostly from the perspective of wise simplicity, she offers the reader enough data/facts/hard evidence and sound psychological theory to ground her method and her message.
Which is, if I understand correctly --- you have a soul and if you listen to your heart, you can live from it and toward it and within it. That's what I want for my life. Dr. Reeves offers an exemplary examination of what that would look like and suggestions for how to do it. If you are also interested in a heart-centered way of living, read her book.

A great book!.......2006-09-19
This book and its companion book for wives are really great books. They are easy to read and are must reads for all husbands, wives and those considering marriage. If we all followed the advice in these books we would have loving, satisfying and successful marriages. I've bought several copies and have given them out to friends. As far as I can see the Biblical principles are sound too.
Falls Short.......2005-11-20
This book although not questioning the good intentions of the author falls short on Biblical principles for marriage. It's basically her experiences in her marriage poured out on the book. If you are searching for a book with scriptural base for marriage and the role and submission of us men, this is not it. This book is based on one woman experiences, while all not woman and marriages are alike, God is always the same and does not change, so Bible principles should be look for, not experiences of a godly woman to help a whole different women and marriage situations. The book is short on pages and scriptural basics. Rather I recommend the book "Every Man's Marriage" from the everyman series, it gives a greater Biblical view of men's role in marriage, to love our wife like Christ loved and loves the Church, understanding how mutual submission, a being a bondservant to your wife really makes your marriage gloom.
Also I would recommend a great book by the late pastor Adrian Rogers, Ten Secrets for A Successful Family, if you want scriptural guides to lead your marriage, children and family life this is it. With the passion and firmness that characterized pastor Rogers in his sermons, books and life. God Bless.
Get's to the point.......2004-12-13
Considering that most men would not be very receptive to the idea of reading a marriage help book, I would recommend this book if for no other reason, it get's to the point quickly.
Another good point to this book "considering the target audience" is that each chapter is brief and succinct. Most people will be able to get through this in a week, others who really don't like to read about these subjects can take a month and only have to read for a brief 5 to 10 minutes.
The lessons are practical enough to not overwhelm the alpha male. I would recommend this book as a gift for the married male or for a friend in need.
