5 out of 5 stars excellent book!.......2007-10-09

This book was a great choice to get for our employees to share. It covers a variety of situations and workplaces and answered many common business etiquette questions that have arisen.

5 out of 5 stars The Etiquette Advantage in Business.......2007-02-19

This book is a must read for anyone graduating from school and headed into business. It gives outstanding advice on everything from cell phone etiquette, e-mail etiquette, cubicle farm etiquette, table manners, the interview process, thank you's, etc. It's a good read, and an outstanding reference book to have in one's library.

4 out of 5 stars Great reference tool.......2007-01-04

Ever have that 1 question on 'how to' conduct yourself in a business situation? This book has the answers and the guidance on 'what to do.' Even the most experienced professional comes across a business situation question ... it's nice to have the answer before the situation occurs!

4 out of 5 stars Book everyone should read.......2006-06-27

This is wonderful book explaining what etiquette is really about. One will learn everything -- from how to dress, table manners, office setup, how to print business cards to how to prepare resume. I would recommend to everyone to read it regardless if they are working or not. While I do not agree with some of the rules regarding "who pays for lunch" - I would say that this is a book everyone should read and understand because it will improve their interactions with others.

3 out of 5 stars ASL Book.......2007-10-10

the book was fine in quality- took too long to ship. took several weeks to recieve. unacceptable.

3 out of 5 stars Not great, but not bad either!.......2007-10-07

I definitely recommend a different book -- not this one to start off with. The drawings are sometimes hard to understand. I have taught ASL to hearing adults and this would not be my first choice to start off with. I liked a different book that I recently reviewed. The title escapes my mind, but check out my other reviews and find the five-star review :)

3 out of 5 stars not the best, but not the worst.......2007-06-03

Some of my complaints include the problematic fact that there are many signs that appear in the dialogues and are not in the vocabulary section, nor illustrated anywhere else, and many of the signs are outdated - one must have a teacher or deaf/hoh person around to help sort it out.

Most of the dialogues are pretty boring and inspired me to write a new one which was a very fruitful and a much better learning experience than the book. Also, one of the teachers at Palomar College created a vocabulary video which should be on the dvd that comes with the book.

But, on the plus side, the expressions are very good and the signs are clear. The dvd is good and the characters well done tho as I said above, it is missing the vocab signs.

Enjoy Dancing Hand Talk! LI

4 out of 5 stars Learning American Sign Language.......2007-05-21

I bought this book because it was required for my class. The pictures are clear, good diologue practices, vocabulary set up nicely. I was not happy about the order of the individual chapters; they could have been set up better. I would have also benefited from some explanations. It was hard to study on my own for classes missed.

5 out of 5 stars Good Choice.......2007-05-02

I have spent a great deal of time looking for a text to use for my class. Although there is not an abundance of activities, this book has students working with a conversation from the first lesson. The available instructor's manual clearly states that this text is not intended to stand alone and encourages the instructor to add activities and vocabulary appropriate for the class. I do not recommend this as a "teach yourself" book but think it is great for a class text.

Book Description

Waiting for Daisy is about loss, love, anger and redemption. It’s about doing all the things you swore you’d never do to get something you hadn’t even been sure you wanted. It’s about being a woman in a confusing, contradictory time. It’s about testing the limits of a loving marriage. And it’s about trying (and trying and trying) to have a baby.
Orenstein’s story begins when she tells her new husband that she’s not sure she ever wants to be a mother; it ends six years later after she’s done almost everything humanly possible to achieve that goal, from “fertility sex” to escalating infertility treatments to New Age remedies to forays into international adoption. Her saga unfolds just as professional women are warned by the media to heed the ticking of their biological clocks, and just as fertility clinics have become a boom industry, with over two million women a year seeking them out. Buffeted by one jaw-dropping obstacle after another, Orenstein seeks answers both medical and spiritual in America and Asia, along the way visiting an old flame who’s now the father of fifteen, and discovering in Japan a ritual of surprising solace. All the while she tries to hold onto a marriage threatened by cycles, appointments, procedures and disappointments. Waiting for Daisy is an honest, wryly funny report from the front, an intimate page-turner that illuminates the ambivalence, obsession, and sacrifice that characterize so many modern women’s lives.

5 out of 5 stars Loved it.......2007-10-15

This book was exactly what I needed to read after struggling with pregnancies and feeling pretty alone in that. It is an amazing story of hope and loss that will -- sorry for the cliche -- make you laugh and make you cry. I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Thank You, Peggy, For Writing This Book!.......2007-10-12

I am forever grateful to Peggy Orenstein for writing so candidly, not only about fertility issues, but about her own experience with loss. As someone who recently lost a daughter in utero I know how difficult it is to talk about miscarriage and stillbirth in this culture. Peggy's courage, honesty, and wit shine through as she shares the details of her journey into motherhood and her painful losses along the way. The writing in Waiting for Daisy is immaculate- crisp and addicting- and I appreciated every moment I spent reading it. I felt an immediate connection to Peggy because she was so real in her expressions of guilt, sadness, excitement, disappointment, and love. And her writing offered me much-needed laughter and hope. Thank you.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic: Reminds me of "Eat, Pray, Love".......2007-10-03

I thoroughly enjoyed this book-- surprisingly, because I didn't have any personal experience with infertility. I do have many friends and relatives with these experiences, so I was curious to understand more about what they're going through. The author is a brilliant and clever writer-- I loved her "voice"-- it reminded me of Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat, Pray, Love." She's funny, honest and insightful. This was actually a page-turner-- not what I would have thought for this type of memoir. I LOVED this book and I'm recommending it to all my friends.

3 out of 5 stars Waiting for Daisy .......2007-09-25

This book was difficult to read. Author was cold, hard to connect with and not easy to agree with. Definitely not like-able or personable. Very selfish individual. I hope she raises Daisy to Not be like her.

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for those feeling alone or isolated in their fertility journey!.......2007-09-24

This book was a God-send to me in my own painful infertility journey. Peggy's descriptions of her mental states expressed my own, but in ways I could not put words to. From her initial ambivalence about parenthood, to all-consuming obsessions with achieving it, her relations with her husband, and frustrations with fertility specialists, her journey affirmed that I was not alone in my journey. Her sense of humor and wit actually made me giggle a few times and, mostly, helped me feel so much less alone. I would highly recommend this book!!

"Good night, Gorilla," says the weary watchman as he walks by the gorilla cage on his nightly rounds at the zoo. The gorilla answers by quietly pickpocketing the guard's keys, stealthily trailing him, and unlocking the cages of every animal the oblivious fellow bids goodnight to. Looking much like an exhausted father, the uniformed guard traipses home toward his cottage, while the lonely zoo animals softly parade behind him. The animals manage to slip into his bedroom and nestle unnoticed near his sleepy wife--until the bold little gorilla goes so far as to snuggle up beside her as she turns out the light. Author and illustrator Peggy Rathmann (creator of the Caldecott-winning Officer Buckle and Gloria) relies more on the nuances of her jewel-toned pictures than on words to pace this giggly bedtime story, making it perfect for observant preschoolers. In one inky-black spread, Rathmann lets only the shocked, wide-open eyes of the guard's wife tell us that the gorilla has been detected! Tiny details such as the faithful, banana-toting mouse and sky-bound pink balloon that appear in each picture keep this book fresh, magical, and fun--even after countless bedtime readings. (Baby to preschool) --Gail Hudson

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated..........2007-10-12

This is a great board-book for kids between 1 and 5. The illustrations are beautiful, and get my kids to "think" about all that they can see. This book is one of my daughter's favorites - she'd crack up with laughter when the lights went out and the animals said goodnight. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

5 out of 5 stars Don't get the Picture Puffin Books (Sagebrush) edition.......2007-09-29

This is a great story book. The 5 stars is for that.

I bought three editions for different kids: Good Night, Gorilla (Picture Puffin Books (Sagebrush)), Good Night, Gorilla, and Good Night, Gorilla (oversized board book). The Puffin edition is bound in a way that makes it difficult to open flat. The paper is thinner than most good hardcover children's books. The two board book editions are very nice. You also might want to try the regular hardcover edition.

5 out of 5 stars A Must For Your Child's Library.......2007-09-17

Goodnight, Gorilla is a delightful book, filled with fun, secrets and anticipation. We started reading it at age 2 and my now 6 year old son still enjoys it! We especially love the dark page with eyes....you will too! It is the perfect companion to '10 Minutes Till Bedtime', also by Peggy Rathmann, because this cast of characters appear in that book as next door neighbors! Together they make a perfect child/baby gift. Thanks Peggy Rathmann!

5 out of 5 stars My Daughter's (and Our) Favorite.......2007-07-23

We received this book as a gift after our daughter's birth, and now that she's ten months old, it's her absolute favorite. She actually goes to her book basket, digs through the all of the books to find this one, and then brings it to us to read to her. The best part is that because the narrative is told through the pictures instead of through words, it's a different book when I read it to her than when her father, grandmother, etc. does. I'm sure that as she gets older, we'll be able to modify our reading of Good Night, Gorilla to suit her age, pointing out different things about the story than interest her now. This book is destined to be a classic!

5 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK.......2007-07-21

My 2 and 3 y/o daughters LOVE this book. It's a fun book and teaching about many animals and the zoo. It's a wonderful gift for your child or a gift to another child. Highly recommend it.

Book Description

This handbook is a quick and simplified guide to the APA writing style. It was developed as a condensed version of the official APA Publication Manual and designed to be utilized as a supplement to the actual guide.

The handbook is divided into three parts. Part one focuses on the mechanics of APA format as well as internal text citations; part two emphasizes the actual reference page entries; and part three provides a sample paper.

5 out of 5 stars Great book for on the Go!.......2007-10-19

This is a great supplemant for the APA manual. This has everything you need to know to write a quick paper plus the addition to work it out on word.

Nice to have as a quick reference. I found this book to be extremely helpful.

4 out of 5 stars APA The Easy Way.......2007-10-13

This is a great little book that gives you the basics of what you need to know to prepare your student paper using APA style. It's slim but includes answers to all the usual questions: punctuation, reference citations etc. And it's totally affordable. An essential tool if you need to use APA. Why didn't my uni profs tell me about this when I was struggling through my Master's degree????

2 out of 5 stars Buy the manual if you're new to APA style.......2007-10-06

If you are new to writing in APA style, I would recommend buying the APA Manual instead of this guide. The guide is okay for a quick reference if you are familiar with APA style. However, if you haven't used APA style citing in papers, you are probably better off buying the manual.

4 out of 5 stars APA handbook a good quick reference guide.......2007-10-05

Great little book for quick reference for APA writers - not all inclusive but covers most of what you need...

What makes a perfect wedding? "[The bride] and the groom both look as though there were sunlight behind their eyes, as though their mouths irresistibly turned to smiles," wrote Emily Post in 1922's Etiquette. Great-granddaughter-in-law Peggy Post, author of the fourth edition of Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette, absolutely agrees with Miss Emily. To ensure those bright eyes and smiles, she imparts thoughtful and commonsensical advice on how to plan for not just your wedding, but for all the social and familial obligations and traditions that a wedding entails.

Unlike many wedding manuals, Post includes advice for the "encore" bride as well as for the new bride. In this day of remarriages and blended families, tact and strategy are often needed to make sure feelings aren't hurt and everything runs as smoothly as possible. A chapter on multicultural and interfaith marriages addresses differing world traditions and how they can be incorporated into a touching ceremony that makes both the couple and their families happy. If you are unsure of who is supposed to do what, Post gives you clear instruction, often including a flow chart that delineates the responsibilities of all people involved in the wedding party (bride's parents throw the engagement party, best man returns the tuxes, flower girl's family pays for her outfit).

Throughout Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette are sidebars with questions asked of Post regarding an amazing array of wedding-related conundrums ("My daughter's fiancé wants to follow his family's tradition of having a money tree at the wedding. I personally find this distasteful; can I say so?"). This is a great book to find the answers for all those sticky questions. All involved in the wedding process should leaf through, get their bearings, smile, and then forge ahead. --Dana Van Nest

4 out of 5 stars One of the better wedding books for general questions.......2007-09-23

This was one of the better basic books, for a few questions you can't find the answer to - writing letters, listing on invitation, etc.

2 out of 5 stars outdated.......2007-09-01

I am a traditionalist but found no help from this book - there were so many options that there were no 'real etiquette' answers

5 out of 5 stars Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette.......2007-08-09

Emily Post is known as the expert on wedding etiquette, so naturally that's what I ordered for a friend. The book was shipped promptly and arrived in excellent condition.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......2007-05-14

I'm getting married in a couple of years, and I already had Emily Post's 16e book on general etiquette, so I thought it would be good to get the full scope of weddings with this book. I feel really stupid for that now, because the book is small, doesn't contain most of the information that the general etiquette book has on weddings, and therefore isn't something you can use separately anyway. It's completely lacking on information, and so if you have to choose between getting this book or getting the general one and having some extra information about other things, get the general one and save some money.Emily Post's Etiquette, 17th Edition (Thumb Indexed)

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2007-04-05

This book has all the information you need about traditions, planning, pulling it all off. Every tiny detail brides are supposed to somehow know automatically is here and is easy to find.

Much of the book is geared toward people planning very traditional weddings - which I am not. Ms. Post gives plenty of more casual examples and perfectly acceptable informal options. The information is also presented in such a way that it is easy to modify her examples to make them your own.

This is a must-have resource for any family planning a wedding!

5 out of 5 stars A Book We All Must Have.......2007-02-22

We have been waiting for that book for a long time. Peggy Holman's Change Handbook is now available in its second edition. Since its first edition in 1999, it has increased in volume and in significance. Holman and her co-authors describe 61 collaborative methods that can be applied for working with large groups in private corporations, the public sector and for the development of democratic institutions. The book provides more than a thesaurus and an encyclopedia of change - it contains probably more than 90% of the current world knowledge on whole systems change applications. Beside the well-known methods and frameworks such as Open Space Technology, Appreciative Inquiry, etc. there are a lot of new methods that I have never heard of. Unfortunately, there is no article on Worldwork and the Process Oriented Psychology Framework. Next Edition, please?

The Change Handbook is very well organized, methods are categorized and there are good hints for when to apply the different methodologies. It is a must for Change Practitioners. If you are keen on The Standard Reference, you need to buy The Change Handbook.

5 out of 5 stars Utterly Phenomenal: *The* Book for Living Life to the Fullest.......2007-01-28

I could spend the rest of my life trying to learn, use, and share each of the methods in this book, and never finish. When it was first published in 1999, it was before its time. Now, in 2006, this is a book made for our times, when Burning Man is now Green Man, Al Gore is a rock star, and even the greediest Wall Street CEO is starting to realize the party is over and we have to get real, real fast.

I have been an admirer of Free/Open Source Software (F/OSS) and a champion of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), and have gradually learned about other "opens" that are coming to the fore: Open Spectrum, Open Access, Open Culture, Open Innovation, and of course George Soros' Open Society. From this book I now add Open Circle, to complement the Open Space concept I learned recently in Seattle's Town Hall while listening to Paul Hawken talk about the World Index for Social and Environmental Responsibility.

I have to confess that this book is over-whelming, and I can barely scratch the surface. This is more of a book where you should read one author, one segment, each night, and fall asleep thinking about how to implement that one small section, how to embrace someone else and engage them with that one method.

Having three teen-agers, all three of whom have completely rejected the prison/child care format and the rote learning objectives of the current school system (even as good as it is in Fairfax County) I will go so far as to say that this book, combined with serious games/games for change, is a complete one-to-one substitute for our current educational process.

Everything in here is what we *should* have learned in school, what we *should* be practicing in fulfilling our civic duty (what we *actually* do is described in "The Cheating Culture," "Confessional of an Economic Hit-Man," and "Rogue Nation").

I am moving quickly and heavily into the intersection of Collective Intelligence (see my reviews of "The Tao of Democracy," "Smart Mobs," "Wisdom of the Crowds," or my longer list; and Natural Capitalism with its "true cost" meme. See my reviews of Paul Hawken et al, "Ecology of Commerce" and "Natural Capitalism," of the varied books by Herman Daly, and soon, my reviews of "The Great Turning," the "Omnivore's Dilemma," and others. For a broader sense of the possibilities, check out "Earth Intelligence Network" online.

I still have the 1970's operating manual for spaceship earth someplace in my lower library. This book is the manual for spaceship earth for our children and those of us recommiting ourselves to the joy of learning and changing in our later years. It's not over until *we* decide its over.

5 out of 5 stars Great Refrence to Systemes Chamge.......2007-01-11

The Change Handbook: The Definitive Resource on Today's Best Methods for Engaging Whole Systems by Tom Devane, Steven Cady, and Peggy Holman (Berrett-Koehler Publishers) is the most comprehensive guide available to methods of organization and community change. It's designed for quick and easy access to information about high leverage change from today's foremost practitioners. This new edition is updated to describe more than 43 additional change methods and includes new chapters on selecting a method, mixing and matching methods, and responsibilities of the people involved, conditions for success, and more. This tremendously expanded second edition--400 pages longer, nearly twice the length of the first edition--will undoubtedly become the definitive resource in this rapidly expanding area.
This book offers practical insights and how to affect systems in positive ways to make them do the things we wish them to do and to mitigate the harm caused by some systems. Anyone who is interested in social change and personal change at any level will find the practical suggestions for intervention in this book to be positively enlightening.
In 1999, the first edition of The Change Handbook provided a snapshot of a nascent field that broke barriers by engaging "whole systems" of people from organizations and communities in creating their own future. In the last seven years, the field has exploded. In this completely revised and updated second edition, lead authors Peggy Holman, Tom Devane, and Steven Cady profile sixty-one change methods--up from eighteen in the first edition. Nineteen of these methods are explored in depth, with case studies, answers to frequently asked questions, and details on the roles and responsibilities of the people involved, conditions for success, and more. This tremendously expanded second edition--400 pages longer, nearly twice the length of the first edition--will undoubtedly become the definitive resource in this rapidly expanding area.
Simply put I can not find enough superlatives for the utility of this volume when it comes to explaining the practical steps necessary in systems change. The book is so comprehensive that many of the chapters could actually be books themselves. What is useful here is that one finds the boiled down essential information in one place. By offering potpourri of possible strategies group facilitators and therapists do not become overly committed to only a few strategies, but can find new ways to do old things better and with less effort and ways to evaluate old efforts that may have been well-intentioned but the intervention was misdirected. The book is a wonderful reference to the important evolving field of systems analysis and change. You overlook this volume at your peril.

Book Description

The Civil Litigation authors present legal principles and their application to litigation work in a very practical manner, making it easier to grasp the many concepts involved. The litigation process is covered in detail in a host of contexts so the reader can understand the relationship of litigation to other legal specialties. Sample documents such as complaints, answers, interrogatories and deposition summaries are presented and explained in relevant chapters, giving readers familiarity with documents they will encounter in the litigation law office setting. Several features in each chapter help reinforce the material. Questions for Review help the reader recall the important legal concepts of the chapter. Questions for Analysis promote understanding and application of the material to factual situations, and chapter exercises and projects provide the chance to apply the chapter material to such projects as drafting sample documents. In particular, an exercise in each chapter relates to a single case, giving students the opportunity to work it from beginning to end, simulating an on-the-job experience. Unique to this book is the on-line availability of state-specific supplements covering state law and practice for several states including California, New York, Ohio, Florida, and Texas.

This is a fantastic hard cover book which relates much of the information needed when working in the related field. Tjompson/Delmar Learning publishers are among the highest in their field. If you are looking for a source on Civil litigation then you most certainly have found it.

1 out of 5 stars Thumbs down.......2004-08-15

This book is very poorly written. There are many typographical errors throughout the book and many, many inaccuracies in the content. Some terms are used incorrectly and instead of assisting the reader in learning civil litigation, it creates confustion and frustration.

I would not recommend this book to anyone - especially students.

I hope the new edition is worth the paper it's written on.

5 out of 5 stars Great source of info.......2001-03-21

For all those up and comming law studients, this is a great information source. Step by step, the steps of the litigation process are illustrated. In addition, it is written in such a way that even a person with no legal background (like myself) can understand it. I highly recomend this book.

    Book Description

Peggy and Pam were two desperately disorganized sisters. After analyzing their lives, they set up a rotating card system that scheduled their chores on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. with a combination of the sympathy of a fellow former slob, and the firm resolution of a for-your-own-good mother, they show readers how they too can get organized.

    5 out of 5 stars The Best...........2007-10-11

This book fit me to a 'T'. How many times have you said, "This is it, we're finally going to have a clean and organized house", then this book is for you. I must say I wasn't prepared to actually have to make up a system. You have to buy different colored note cards, card dividers and a nice box that they'll fit nicely into. It's not really that big of a deal, I just wasn't expecting all that.
It's very helpful though. It keeps you organized on what needs to be done and when, to keep you on a schedule. Now I just got back from a weekend get away so I am not caught up, BUT I know I will get there. This system is very helpful.
On top of it all, THIS BOOK IS HILLARIUS! I was crying sometimes I was laughing so hard. It's fun to read other people's messy house horror stories. Like the panic of the door bell ringing, do we answer it, or go out the basement door to meet them inside so they don't have to come in to see our pig sty.
I highy recommend! These sister authors are hysterical and helpful.

5 out of 5 stars Read this book first!.......2007-09-30

I have been a fan of Pam and Peggy for over 25 years. Their system really works. I decided to get back on board the organization train as a new empty nester and decided to buy the second book, even thought it has been out for over 10 years. I wish I had read this book first. The card system is streamlined and easier to set up and follow. Have fun reading this funny practical guide to getting back on track.

5 out of 5 stars From Pigpen 2 Paradise to Phil Donahue.......2007-08-14

These ladies have such a wonderful way to look at life. I've been following them since they were on the Phil Donahue Show in their early years. They changed my life over the years to take control of a very closet "pigpen" person. I've watched them when they've added family members, their grand babies, to when they have lost family members, their Mother & Father, God rest their souls. These ladies always feel like they are real people.....not just a book person trying to earn some extra money. I've enjoyed watching them over the years and think of them as part of my "own" family.
Their few point has been so helpful in getting the junk out of my world. From getting a handle of my messy house to getting a handle of a messy relationship.

If you are someone that is trying to get from out of the bottom of the pile.. this book is for you.

Peggy & Pam have been a lifesaver through out my life.

Saving lifes with Three by fives.

I hope they don't mind that I post this for them.

"Using humor, we are dedicated to helping people improve the quality of their homes. We know that the strength of the family has a profound effect upon the schools, the community, the workplace, the country and the world."

God Bless you Peggy & Pam.

3 out of 5 stars an ok book.......2007-07-05

Some good ideas, shows those who are overwhelmed how to tackle things one step at a time. I am not using the method-I found it too constraining and made my own system. It did give some advice that I was able to chage to suit my own system but over all I don't think there is much here. If you can get a used copy for a couple bucks go for it! Personally I think if someone has so much junk in their house they can not move they need to see a professional to find out why they are holding onto junk-there is something deeper going on and they need help.

3 out of 5 stars Erma Bombeck Meets Julie Morgenstern.......2007-06-23

Why I read this book: I got this book largely because of the title, because I work out of my home (and I fancy myself to be an executive!). However, in this book "home executive" refers to housewife... running a household. As a bachelor I could certainly use the help with that, so I read it anyway.

The strength of this book is it's home-spun style. Pam and Peggy are sisters, each of them tell their tales of woe... what it was like being disorganized slobs, and then tell how wonderful their lives are now that they have "the system." The way they unfold their story is very personal and funny. Kind of like Erma Bombeck. If you've had to run a household, particularly with kids involved, you will relate to them. They add to the personal nature of the book by including several pages of photos of them, them as kids, their kids, spouses, etc.

The Book's Weakness: The book is 165 pages, and only one chapter of 25 pages is devoted to the actual "system." Although it may work great for them, for most of us disorganized types we read it and say, "What?" I need a lot more hand-holding, step-by-step instructions. It seemed that this was a book of their experience and then they did a drive-by when it came to helping us put into practice what they did.

The guts of the book: Their system revolves around the use of 3x5 cards. I do like that part, because I have grown so weary of "lists," and have recently changed to index cards exclusively. Lists always need changed or rewritten. Cards can be "recycled" for future reminders, or thrown away if the task is done. And I'm just a more tangible, visible, feel-it type of person. Also, with lists, all I need to do is look at it once and I'm already feeling overwhelmed. I need to "see" one task at a time. In any case, the last thing I wanted to do after reading this book was to try and figure out and implement their particualar 3x5 system. Way too complicated with way too little instruction in how to really get it up and running, even though I've read several books on organizing, and have experimented with many "systems." I did pick up a few tips here and there that were helpful in my continuing quest for creating my own personal efficient and effective task, time, and information management system.

The flavor of the book: As well as home-spun stories with glaringly real anecdotes of their daily life, the book is interspersed with poems, cartoons, and their philosophy on life and happiness.

Evangelical Alert: The book is interspersed with occasional god-talk and spirituality, but loosely defined. On one page they quote Oral Roberts and Paramahansa Yogananda right after each other. In one chapter they discuss the effect that "getting their act together" had on their marriage. Peggy's went through some changes, but came out better. Pam ended up divorcing her "critical" husband.

Quote from book: A disorganized person's Christmas prayer (p. 96) "O Lord, bless my desperate search for the twenty-five gifts I need to find in two hours. Let ther be cash somewhere I havent' looked, and let my bank card work one more time without an authorization call. Let there be just one more Polly Puberty Doll somewhere and let there be batteries included. Guide me to just the right store, and lead me to the correct sizes and colors. Let each selection be exactly what my loved ones had hoped and dreamed for. Keep me calm as I grope through crowds, scrounge through sale items, and dash up and down escalators. O Lord, forgive me for leaving this to the last minute again. If you'll get me through this one more time, I promise I'll get organized."
