Customer Reviews:
Cute.......2004-05-04
This is a rhyming book about the bears in the family and what they do, like sing, lick bowls, and pick plums. It provides a nice review of the names of family relationships. It's not at all scary. It has about 80 words.
My daughter's Favorite book!.......2001-02-05
This has been my daughter's favoite book since she received it as a gift when she was 7 months old. She has stacks and stacks of other baby board book, including all the classics like "Goodnight Moon," and this is always the one she pulls out and wants to hear me read. She seems to love the illustrations, which are whimsical, very colorful and glossy, as well as listening to the sweet story. The fact that the book is a little larger than what seems to be the standard board book size also seems to appeal to her. I highly reccommend this book!

Customer Reviews:
The kids love this one.......2007-10-19
A great Christmas theme book for kids and for a party or gifts for kids 1-5 . It is a touch and feel book and most kids really like it.
Wonderful Great Fun for toddlers.......2005-11-16
This book is great. I bought it for my daycare kids for Christmas and they loved it. It's a lot of fun for toddlers to touch and teel the Christmas tree ornoment, Stanta beard, and more
Goes great with scratch and sniff Christmas
ANOTHER GREAT TOUCH AND FEEL BOOK.......2005-02-08
We have several of the touch and feel books in our home and our toddler has always enjoyed them. Kids love touching different things and the touch and feel books give them several different textures to work on. This is a great Christmas themed book where kids can touch Santa's soft, fluffy bear, push the soft, squishy nose of a reindeer, touch the shiny red christmas ornament, and so on...One can, I suppose question the educational value of these books but why must all books be educational? Bottom line is that all of these books are fun for kids to read and touch.
A cute Christmas book your child is sure to love........2002-12-10
My daughter received this book for her first Christmas and now three years later she still loves it. The pictures are bright and cheery. You can touch Santa's fluffy beard, press the reindeer's squishy nose, and feel the fuzzy fleece of the caroler's hat. When my daughter was a baby I used to hold her on my lap and help her stroke the different textures. Now that she is older she likes to take down several of the books in thuis series at a time and look through them herself. The text is simple and the pictures are delightful. Best of all this is a well made sturdy book that will last for years to come. I recommend it to everyone.

If you want to decorate brown paper packages tied up with string, here are the perfect stickers. You could also spruce up your scrapbook in January when all those picture get developed.
I had great fun with this set of stickers already when wrapping some presents for a friend.

Book Description
Christmas is coming!
The little girl knows just what needs to be done to get ready for Christmas -- choose a tree, back cookies, decorate the house -- but Biscuit is so excited he can't seem to sit still.
Scratch and sniff the scents to find out what that silly puppy has his nose in now!
Customer Reviews:
Don't buy it for the scratch and sniff........2007-01-22
My son likes Biscuit books so I went ahead and got this book. But all the other reviews are correct. I don't know why they bothered with the scratch and sniff. Half of them don't smell at all and some of the ones that do, smell terrible. If there is a cheaper version of this book without the scratch and sniff, get that one instead.
Going, going....gone........2002-01-09
This is a nice easy reader book for my 6 year old daughter. The scratch n sniff was a fun added bonus. It worked well & had very accurate scents...but only for one reading. The second time she picked up the book to read & scratch she was very disappointed that the scents were gone. Don't expect it to last long. But on the other hand, it's a fun book that she still enjoys reading. If you can find this book on sale--great. Don't bother otherwise.
Disappointing Scratch-and-Sniff.......2001-06-28
Very disappointed in this scatch and sniff book. Smells were almost non-existent, very weak, and if you could smell the item, it didn't even smell like what it was supposed to be. Plus, the scratch and sniff area was about the size of a nickle, way too small for my toddler to easily scratch, let alone find. Don't waste your money.
Christmas antics.......2000-11-29
This holiday book follows the little girl, Biscuit's owner, as she shows Biscuit the sights and smells of Christmas--the young readers can take part in the festive sights and smells by scratch and sniff stickers found throughout the book. The little girl and her friend, who brings her dog, Puddles, helps out with the Christmas fun and both pooches get so curious about what the girls are doing that messes are sure to follow. My toddler loves this book. Biscuit's Christmas is a good story to teach young children about the activities of the Christmas season.

Touch the pumpkin's waxy orange skin. Stroke the velvet coat of a pint-sized wizard. Halloween is a time of sensory delights, and this chunky little board book celebrates some spine-chilling tactile sensations, like a scruffy pirate's beard and the silky black fur of a witch's cat. Young readers brought up on Pat the Bunny will love feeling the various textures of Halloween, and may be inspired with new ideas for this year's costume. DK's trademark crisp photos against a white background are always a pleasure to see, especially with the accompanying large, simple text. Colorful pictures of children in costume, treasure chests, jack-o'-lanterns, and, of course, candy, will put readers in the right mood for the spookiest night of the year. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
This engaging novelty book will charm and delight young readers. Featuring a selection of thrilling Halloween-themed textures, each title offers a new tactile sensation. Contrast the "silky" black cat with the "scaly" snake or compare the "bristly" pirate's beard to the scarecrow's "hairy" jacket. Large, simple text and colorful photographs of objects ranging from familiar to scary and exotic provide a fun learning experience.
Customer Reviews:
Great Halloween Book.......2007-10-19
This is a great book for kids and I highly reccomend it for a gift for kids ages 1 - 6. Kids love the touch and feel and love the Halloween theme.
Toddler Perfect!!.......2005-03-10
My daughter loves this! We took it to her school and they are all loving it.
A HALLOWEEN TOUCH AND FEEL.......2005-02-08
We have several of the touch and feel books in our home and our two year old has always enjoyed them. Kids love touching different things and the touch and feel books give them several different textures to work on. My two year old just loves Halloween. He'll ask to read Halloween books all year round.
As with the other touch and feel books, this one has vivid and color photography to accompany the various textures your child gets to touch including a pumpkin, Pirates Beard, the fur of a black cat, and a wizards robe. One can, I suppose question the educational value of these books but why must all books be educational? Bottom line is that all of these books are fun for kids to read and touch.
Best touch and feel book.......2002-09-12
My 16 mo. old daughter has at least 10 of these books, and this one is her favorite. The texture parts are large, unlike the nfl book, and she loves the kitty page! There are also pages of a wizard, a scarecrow, a pumpkin, and a pirate.
Our PUMPKIN loves this book!.......2000-10-13
Our 10 month-old daughter just LOVES this book. She reads it every night & especially enjoys touching the pirate's ROUGH beard...(it probably reminds her of her daddy!) She has several others from this series and really takes notice of the crisp, clear, true-to-life pictures. It's a sure thing! We already got the Christmas one for her! Buy it. Today.

Customer Reviews:
A sweet trip down memory lane!.......2007-09-15
This was one of my favorite books as a child. I was thrilled when my Mom bought it for my son. He is now 13 months old and loves to "read" it on his own, leaning over the sniff the smells. It is a sweet little tale of a little bunny sniffing his way around one afternoon, encountering his friends who introduce him to scents of a rose, pine needles, peach, pickle, strawberry jam and cookies. The writing is simplistic with the "hop, hop, hop" refrain adding a nice cadence. There is one draw back though: As another reviewer noted, the scents didn't last for very long!
Beware!.......2007-08-18
The integrity of this book is seriously compromised by the new, non-descript, circular stickers. They actually obscure the illustrations that they cover. It makes me sad that what used to be a childhood favorite is now seems so cheaply made. Also, the scents are faint. If you're buying the book for the story and illustrations it is still fun. But if the scratch-n-sniff aspect is an important component(why wouldn't it be?), you'll probably be disappointed.
Favorite Book .......2007-06-30
My favorite as a kid, and now I'm reading it to my kids. Highly recommended!
Almost the same as the original.......2007-06-08
I decided to get this newly released version to replace my older book where the scratch and sniff decals are worn out. Everything is the same except in the last few pages- Little bunny is now having chocolate chip cookies instead of the original chocolate mint cookies. Otherwise this is a fun book that I enjoyed as a kid, and know that many other kids will love as well.
Scratch and Sniif is great for toddlers.......2007-05-22
My daughter loves scratch and sniff books after being introduced to this one. The story is great on this one and she loves the interaction. I highly recommend for any baby/kid.

Customer Reviews:
What a sweet book!.......2000-08-10
I "I Smell Honey..." is a tasty treat of color, rhyme and familial togetherness. A favorite of my two year old, she never tires of hearing this beautifully written story of cooking a "feast" with mom; full of colorful food groups. Your five senses will be tantalized by a preparation of catfish, beans, collard greens and--who can resist sweet potato pie?! A cultural must read! My only criticism lies in the illustrations. Though vivid in color, the people pictured were a bit visually stilted.

Book Description
One morning, a few days before Halloween, Mrs. McMurphy wakes up to find a large pumpkin by her front door. "My mouth is here. I speak to you. When my teeth are here, I'll eat you!" it says with a mischievous grin. Unafraid, Mrs. McMurphy politely places the threatening squash outside. But day after day the pumpkin returns to make good on its promise!
Customer Reviews:
Good role model.......2005-02-12
Mrs. McMurphy's Pumpkin by Rick Walton and Delana Bettoli (2004) uses sequenced changes to illustrations. A mysterious, pumpkin with a mouth appears in an old woman's room and declares that as soon as it gets teeth it will eat her. The old woman throws the pumpkin out but it comes back with more facial features. She throws it out again, but it soon reappears with even more facial features. Each time she throws the pumpkin out it comes back again with a new facial feature, until it finally has teeth. Mrs. McMurphy picks the pumpkin up and chops it into a pie. The effect of the changing illustrations for the pumpkin is to build suspense in the reader. It keeps the child interested enough to keep reading. Young children learn many things including a connection between parts of the face and senses, staying calm during a crisis, and that older women can be good role models.
great book for little ones.......2004-12-23
My son is 2 and he asks for this book over and over. It's just scary enough for his attention to be riveted, but not so scary he's really afraid. And I love the message of the book about what to do when we are threatened.
A very good Halloween story for young children.......2004-10-09
I like the little bit of suspense this book provides for the child without being overly scary. A pumpkin appears one day in Mrs. McMurphy's house , at that time the pumpkin only has a grin and no other facial features. The pumpkin tells her that when he gets his teeth , he is going to eat her. Mrs. McMurphy handles the situation beautifully, and calmly removes the pumpkin from her house .(I love when she boxes the pumpkin and sends it to the North Pole.)But the pumpkin keeps returning, and every time it does , it possesses a new facial feature. As the pumpkin continues to return the suspense builds. Finally the pumpkin returns with his teeth, and Mrs. McMurphy ends up making a pie out of the pumpkin and giving slices of it out to trick or treaters. Nicely illustrated, I love the emerging details on the pumpkin, a nice Halloween story for young children . Just enough suspense to make it a Halloween story without frightening the child too much. I like the way Mrs. McMurphy handles the pumpkin , I think it's good for children to see that you can handle things calmly.
Nice to have a strong and clever woman character!.......2004-10-08
The things I like best about this book is the Mrs. McMurphy is a woman who lives on her farm in the country, and she's no dummy! One morning a pumpkin comes to her home and tells her as soon as he gets a mouth he's going to eat her. Each day she nicely listens to the pumpkin each day, and then sends the pumpkin on it's way as she goes about doing her morning work around her farm. I absolutely love the colors in this book they are so bold. And the ending is really clever! This book would also be great as a board book!
Country Beauty.......2004-09-11
As a primary teacher, I search for seasonal books that lend themselves to the essense of specific times of year and science- oriented issues. I use good literature to touch on science, geography, SS and art. (There just isn't enought time in the day!)
Mrs. McMurphy's Pumpkin is rich with the colors of the season. Pumpkin blossoms and vines are everywhere. As you count down the days to Halloween, you are treated to illustrations of Mrs. McMurphy's farm in the fall - delightful.
Adding a new feature to the pumpkin's scary appearance while repeating the previous features promotes memory and pattern
understanding in young listeners. (And of course they can recall the senses - ex. "My nose is here, I smell you.")
But most importantly in these changing times, (many no longer "celebrate" Halloween because they feel focusing on Halloween can promote evil connotations) this selection is anything BUT evil.
Mrs. McMurphy's pumpkin delivers a fun, beautifully -illustrated tale that presents a scary feeling during the Halloween season without witches or goblins. It is really about a beautiful country farm and its charming, easy-going resident, Mrs. McMurphy. Farm animals, fall trees, the autumn sky.....
pumpkin vines and blossoms...fun trick-or-treaters...
A charming story, elegantly illustrated.

Showcasing a wonderful text are Elizabeth Hathon's color photographs in Happy Easter, Baby!, the perfect board book for children ages 2 through 4. Completely safety-tested for infants, here is the perfect introduction to Easter as babies can touch the soft fur of the rabbit, feel the shiny foil of the chocolate bunny, hunt for eggs on a lift-the-flap spread, and keep an eye out for the Easter Bunny!
