Book Description
Many people obstruct their innate potential through repeated patterns of emotional struggle and suffering. This practical, hands-on guide explains why and how people habitually fall into this trap and provides a program, easily incorporated into everyday life, that frees them from this destructive behavior. Using a simple mandala, the book illustrates the four places humans go when they feel threatened, uncomfortable, or aren’t fully centered or grounded in the present moment. Like a trail of pebbles left behind on a hike, it helps trace the path back to the authentic self. Drawing on his three decades of teaching consciousness, Richard Moss plays the role of wise shepherd, accompanying and encouraging the reader on a journey toward the genius within and away from fear and other limitations. Most importantly, he offers an always-available compass that directs readers back to the true self, and into the magic of the present moment.
Customer Reviews:
Are you awake?.......2007-10-09
Dr. Moss brings awareness to all of us. In these chaotic times, I respect him greatly for speaking to the "fear factor" that has been created in our culture. He gives structure to consciously choose to become more "awake" in our own life. If we want a better world, we can not live in fear. I challenge readers to become informed.
Conscious living and innertransformation.......2007-09-12
If you are interested in living more completely in the now then this book is for you. Richard Moss,MD shows us why and how we habitually obstruct our innate potential for what Richard calls radical aliveness as said by Deepak Chopra.
If you want to take a close look at yourself then this book is for you. How simple and direct Dr. Moss is.
The Mandala of Being: Discovering the Power of Awareness.......2007-07-19
Spend just a single day being completely aware of where your thoughts lead you. How often does your mind wander? How much time do you find yourself recalling or analyzing things that happened in your past? How much time do you spend worrying about what might happen in the future? What stories do you make up about yourself in your wanderings? Are you self-sacrificing, underappreciated, and undervalued? Are you hardworking and eagerly climbing the ladder of success? Are you bitter that everyone else seems to catch a break but you get nothing?
Anyone who has ever tried this exercise knows that the majority of our time is spent anywhere but at the present moment. We fixate on the past, we fantasize about the future, we create self serving stories in our minds, and we judge others. Very little of our time is actually fully focused on what we are doing and feeling in this exact moment. So in essense, we rarely focus on the here and now, on the moment.
The Mandala of Being guides the reader to a better understanding of this very human process explaining that these seemingly harmless distractions actually color the way we see ourselves. Basically, all of these stories do two things. They either feed our ego so that we feel that we are somebody special (hiding the underlying feeling that we are not enough as we are) or we opening berate ourselves. The end result in both cases is the same, it reinforces the notion that somehow we have to be, act, or have something specific in order to be valuable human beings.
The simple solution is to have our thoughts stay in the here and now, to see events for what they really are, and to get in touch with our true selves. This may be easy to say but it is extremely hard to do. The Mandala of Being teaches us how to make a start in this attempt and how to counteract some of the major obstacles on this path.
Highly recomended.......2007-07-17
I have given away 5 copies and just ordered more. Regardless of one's spiritual path this book provides the basic tools to confidently proceed on. I continue to reread this book and get more out of it each time.
landmark work!.......2007-07-01
So glad to see that all of the reviews here, so far, are positive. I own the book as well and can't recommend it enough to anyone who is serious about being on a spiritual path.

Very Relaxing.......2007-09-28
I enjoyed this book very much. I kept it on my coffee table and would color in it to relax. Now that each page is colored I have moved it to my bookshelf.
Very nice!.......2007-06-12
Out of the half dozen coloring books we bought last year this one was our favorite. Every design felt well thought out and was quite fun to color. My only complaint is that there weren't more pictures to color. This is well worth buying if you're looking for a challenge to your coloring skills.
Great Book!!! Thanks!!.......2007-01-25
This is a very unusal book,...I think I am going to really enjoy this one!!! Thanks again!!! Arcrystal
Just do it!.......2007-01-13
The book sat around for awhile, the markers I used didn't work well with the paper. Then I started with colored pencils, now I'm addicted!
Love It!.......2006-11-28
I ordered 6 coloring books on the same day, and out of all of them, this one IS my FAVORITE. The designs are more than meaningless geometric shapes. They're really pretty!! And the pages are nice and big, and you can tear them out!! So you don't have to worry about that annoying bump getting in the way when you're trying to color.
MAIN POINT the designs are pretty :) I recommend.

A great memoirist can burnish even an ordinary childhood into something bright--see, for instance, Annie Dillard's An American Childhood. So what about a really good writer with access to a dramatic and little-documented story? This is the case with Catfish and Mandala, Vietnamese American Andrew X. Pham's captivating first book, which delves fearlessly into questions of home, family, and identity. The son of Vietnamese parents who suffered terribly during the Vietnam War and brought their family to America when he was 10, Pham, on the cusp of his 30s, defied his parents' conservative hopes for him and his engineering career by becoming a poorly paid freelance writer. After the suicide of his sister, he set off on an even riskier path to travel some of the world on his bicycle. In the grueling, enlightening year that followed, he pedaled through Mexico, the American West Coast, Japan, and finally his far-off first land, Vietnam.
The story, with some of a mandala's repeated symbolic motifs, works on several levels at once. It is an exploration into the meaning of home, a descriptive travelogue, and an intimate look at the Vietnamese immigrant experience. There are beautifully illuminated flashbacks to the experience of fleeing Vietnam and to an earlier, more innocent childhood. While Pham's stern father, a survivor of Vietcong death camps, regrets that Pham has not been a respectful Vietnamese son, he also reveals that he wishes he himself had been more "American" for his kids, that he had "taken [them] camping." Catfish and Mandala is a book of double-edged truths, and it would make a fascinating study even in less able hands. In those of the adventurous, unsentimental Pham, it is an irresistible story. --Maria Dolan
Book Description
Winner of the Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book PrizeA New York Times Notable Book of the YearWinner of the Whiting Writers' AwardA Seattle Post-Intelligencer Best Book of the YearCatfish and Mandala is the story of an American odyssey-a solo bicycle voyage around the Pacific Rim to Vietnam-made by a young Vietnamese-American man in pursuit of both his adopted homeland and his forsaken fatherland. Andrew X. Pham was born in Vietnam and raised in California. His father had been a POW of the Vietcong; his family came to America as "boat people." Following the suicide of his sister, Pham quit his job, sold all of his possessions, and embarked on a year-long bicycle journey that took him through the Mexican desert, around a thousand-mile loop from Narita to Kyoto in Japan; and, after five months and 2,357 miles, to Saigon, where he finds "nothing familiar in the bombed-out darkness." In Vietnam, he's taken for Japanese or Korean by his countrymen, except, of course, by his relatives, who doubt that as a Vietnamese he has the stamina to complete his journey ("Only Westerners can do it"); and in the United States he's considered anything but American. A vibrant, picaresque memoir written with narrative flair and an eye-opening sense of adventure, Catfish and Mandala is an unforgettable search for cultural identity.

. . arriving at the place where you started. . .and knowing it for the first time.......2007-07-09
`I am a mover of betweens' writes Andrew X.Pham. . . `I slip among classifications, like water in cupped palms.' And in his award winning Catfish and Mandala he takes his readers into those `betweens' with him Viet-kieu, `foreign' Vietnamese, Pham sets out from San Francisco on his rickety 18 speed bicycle riding the Pacific Rim, first up the coast to Seattle, then through Japan, and finally arriving in Ho Chi Minh City from where he begins his odyssey through Vietnam, seeking to understand his relationship to the country of his birth, and the people, and his culture.
The ride he takes us on becomes, for the reader, as spiritual as it is physical. We feel every bump in the road, we push up the hills, we are cold, wet, hungry, ambivalent at times, and we suffer from chronic dysentery. Pham meets people who reject him, who taunt him, and those who, often after initial distrust, befriend him for part of the journey. While he is `pedaling and pushing' alone to Hanoi and back , on a journey everyone advises him is too dangerous, the narrative ebbs and flows through his childhood, through the escape on the boat, through the struggles of his family.
Pham moves comfortably from the specific, the particular, like his recollections of Scarface, Bugsy, Redeye, or Bagman and Mechanic, or the roasting ears of corn dripping with pork fat and scallions, to the philosophic - and then the poetic. It is little surprise he has been linked to writers like Thoreau, Kerouac, Steinback.. . I might add William Carlos Williams,T.S.Eliot or Carl Sandburg. He speaks at once of Vietnam and of his uncertain place there and of the US- and in so doing speaks to all of us who now count among the millions who have left homelands and no longer fully understand what home is, and who `move between.'
By the end of Pham's journey we begin to understand what that is, and value it.
moving.......2007-06-09
This story of a family's escape from Vietnam is a captivating memoir. The author combines his family history with richly detailed descriptions of the landscape of Vietnam. Very well-written and moving.
Great book!.......2007-04-30
Born in Vietnam and came to America at the age of 2--this book is such a great read. It's quite a feeling to see so many of my own thoughts and conflicts regarding my heritage written out this way. Highly recommended.
From another Vietnamese's perspective.......2007-02-23
Overall, this book is well written and has its good moments. As a Vietnamese who came to America at the same time frame and age as the writer, I can't help but to dislike the writer as I read the book.
First of all, I think the writer has a condescending view toward Vietnam and the people. He tries too hard to describe the negatives while not trying to even understand the reason for the state of the country and the people. I feel that the writer sensationalizes, even bordeline fictionalize, his story to appease to the readers. In the book, the author tried to describe the character Kim as a victim of the society, yet, he goes on to use her and skip town so he wouldn't have to face her. He paints such a negative picture of everyone that he met on the road. I wonder why he even took this trip. This author is the reason why Vietnamese Americans are so dislike in Vietnam. The author came back to the country without any knowledge nor understanding, and sadly, all he can do is whined.
I'm two years older than the author and came to United States when I was nine. What the author faced is not unlike any other Vietnamese refugees' story. I wonder about some facts and timeline in the author's recollection of his childhood. Base on the events that were stated, the author must have a photographic memory at such a young age. Some of his memories were a bit far fetched. One has to wonder if the memories were really his or a collection of someone else's memories.
As far as the difficulties in a new country, GET OVER IT!!! Every Vietnamese had to endure the similar situations. My father was a high ranking government official and he too had to work as a janitor. My mother who was a teacher, had to work on a assembly line making seat belts. I grew up in Fresno picking oranges and tomatoes. My wife escaped Vietnam by herself at the age of 16. We all survived and thrived on our experiences. There were many, many more Vietnamese who endured much worse fate than Mr. Pham. I find the author's self-indulgent story annoying by the end of the book.
Overall, I think the author tries a bit too hard writing about himself and forget the real victims, his motherland and the Vietnamese people. As much as the author wants to convey of his noble character, I find his views lack of empathy and understanding for Vietnam. I happen to be very proud of my roots and appreciate all that Vietnam has to offered, even with all of its imperfections. Sadly, Mr. Pham reflects many Vietnamese Americans that have turned their back on their roots. I'm proud that I was born in Vietnam and will be proud of my heritage everyday.

World Mandalas: 100 New Designs for Coloring and Meditation
ASIN: 1570625832
Release Date: 2000-11-14 |
Book Description
Drawing the traditional circular designs known as mandalas is a meditative practice, a healing exercise in times of crisis, and a pleasurable act of creativity. As a symbol of the Self, the mandala provides a connection to our innermost being. The forty-eight drawings presented here for coloring include designs inspired by forms of nature, Native American and Tibetan sand paintings, Hindu yantras, Turkish mosaics, the illuminations of Hildegarde of Bingen, and the art of M.C. Escher. These mandalas are organized according to the Great Round of Mandala, a scheme of twelve archetypal stages that represents a complete cycle of personal growth. Thus, to do the coloring book from start to finish will carry the reader through a balanced experience of change, guided by the accompanying text.

Coloring Mandalas for Insight, Healing and Self-expression.......2007-09-16
The process of working within the sacred circle of the mandala, whether drawing one freehand or coloring printed designs, is a very meditative process leading to a deepening sense in one's spiritual quest, as well as a calming and centering of the mind. Within this meditative state there is a shift or awareness in personal problem solving or just pure relaxation, which also allows for shifts, solutions, change or added awarenesses.

remarkable.......2005-12-17
I recently switched to coloring in this book, Coloring Mandalas by Susanne Fincher and I cannot rave about it enough. Though only about 20 pages long, it contains a amazing amount of information regarding not only mandalas but also the inner workings of the psyche. Some of the things she said regarding the constant interplay between the ego and Self (in the Jungian sense) and the cyclical times wherein the Self pushes for change and the ego might feel deflated at such times hit the nail right on the head in regards to my own recent psychological shake-up that I seem to be undergoing. Then, coloring through the mandalas, which are particularly set into a certain order of stages of growth have at times really touched me. I really recommend this book and this process for learning about the self.

Configure the Center Just How You Need It.......2004-03-04
I purchased the whole series. At times different forms call for my attention and the additional selection is definitely appreciated. The variety is quite good. They range from simpler to complex, with open spaces which leave room for my own variations. The author's designs seem to create a sacred space in which the individual's own light can shine, even if all they want to do is simply "color" a bit. I would expect this flexibility to make them accessible to people with widely varying skills: children, many disabled persons, the elderly, the imaginative and the gifted artist, as well and most of us who are somewhere in between. Yet they are undemanding so that no one need miss out on the calm center and its healing.
Everyone's Mandala Coloring Book Series.......2000-09-13
Author, artist, transpersonal psychotherapist and business person all describe what Monique Mandali is, but do not tell you who she is. I've been privileged to meet Monique and I know that she is a seeker traveling her path. Her walking stick is her love for all, especially children. Ms. Mandali offers a series of four coloring books for children and adults. There are three different delights in the original Everyone's Mandala Coloring Book series, each consisting of 22 designs. While the original three books in the series contain designs by the author, the latest (and perhaps greatest) has 25 peace mandalas from children all around the world. The Peace Mandala Coloring Book is very special because the mandalas are designed by children unencumbered by the pressure of adult living. Further, they bring a variety of spiritual as well as geographical cultures to bear.
Monique Mandali has given us something special. Not only do we find drawings to color that can aid in health and serenity...Everyone's Mandala Coloring Book Series is additionally special because they represent the best part of Monique Mandali, her love!

Gorgeous designs. I've purchased several copies as gifts for kids as well as older people and am not about to stop buying this wonderful coloring book. Plus I really like the perforated pages for easy removal of the pages. Thanks, Monique!
Book Description
Experience the ultimate journey of self-discovery through mandalas and meditation. Mandala art has been used throughout the world for self-expression, spiritual transformation, and personal growth. Mandala is the ancient Sanskrit word for circle and is seen by Tibetans as a diagram of the cosmos. It is used by native Americans in healing rituals and in Christian cathedrals the labyrinth is a mandalic pattern used as a tool for meditation. An archetypal symbol of wholeness, the mandala was used as a therapeutic art tool by psychologist Carl Jung, who believed creating mandalas helped patients to make the unconscious conscious. Joseph Campbell brought mandalas to the public's attention in The Power of Myth (1988): "In working out a mandala ... you draw a circle and then think of the different impulse systems and value systems in your life.... Making a mandala is a discipline for pulling all those scattered aspects of your life together, finding a center." Mandala: Journey to the Center provides insights into the significance of mandalas and helps you to use them as a path to greater self-awareness. Mandala offers over 400 breathtaking color photographs of mandalas in manifestations from art, architecture, and nature -- from Buddhist paintings to the Pantheon to atomic structures, and explores how the mandala has been used throughout history and is relevant today as a tool for meditation, personal growth, and expression. Mandala features a gallery of worldwide contemporary mandala art accompanied by inspirational stories from the artists who created them, and provides exercises and examples of specific techniques for making one's own mandalas. Exploring the mandala can lead us on a journey to wholeness, helping us discover the center within ourselves and beyond.
Customer Reviews:
Great book!.......2007-09-03
Very informative and well written. I learned many new things about mandalas. Well worth purchasing.
True eye candy for the mind! THE best book on Mandalas.......2007-02-21
This is a treasure trove of mandalas from both the natural world and the mind's eye of talented artists. I was fascinated by the history of mandalas and the creativity in the richly illustrated mandalas that the book contains -- true eye candy for the mind! This book worked for me on many levels: historical, natural, intellectual and spiritual. It is as masterfully written as it is illustrated. Thank you Bailey Cunningham and DK Publishing for this best book on mandalas!
Mandala: Journey to the center.......2007-01-12
One of the best books I have in my collection now, stunning. There is so much information in here. I'd be obliged if I could change the stars to *5* - when you edit a review, the stars reduce to 1 again ! I had *5* but since then, I would give the book even more if I could !! :-)))
A World of Visible Symbols, Ringing with Invisible Truths.......2006-05-08
Unlike most who will ever know the wonder of holding Mandala: Journey to the Center, I was drawn into the work via its text, when first-time author Bailey Cunningham asked for some writing feedback. Following Bailey's progress from the outlining stage through drafts and revisions, I experienced an ever deepening and widening sense of wonder and delight in the world we share. This is a world in tension with itself, spinning and weaving harmony from the interplay of opposing elements: the world inside myself, mirroring the world outside; the world outside myself, showing myself to me. A world of visible symbols, ringing with invisible truths; a world where facts point to something beyond themselves, and where a simple change in perspective decides what is center and what is perimeter. A world where "spirituality" and "practicality" know no dividing line.
Unlike most who return to the pages of the book again and again, finding something new each and every time, the photographs and illustrations were unseen by me until I'd read the complete text - but, oh, what happened then! From a womb of words, the book had come into full life with a body dancing with mind-blowing colors and forms.
I regret the "Look Inside" offered on this page cannot reveal the true colors, sharpness and vibrancy of the images (more than 400 of them!) contained within. I would buy this book for the images alone; they are nothing short of magnificent. (Mandala: Journey to the Center is perfect for gift-giving for this very reason.)
The beauty of the book is magnified by its practical application, however, and I highly recommend this work to educators. The mandala is an excellent tool for integrated studies, and because students can see how otherwise "dry" elements combine to make a meaningful whole, mathematics, physical and social sciences, and even language arts spring to life in the classroom, encouraging learning of these topics simultaneously with furthering understanding of self in relationship to the work at hand.
If there is a definitive book on the mandala, Mandala: Journey to the Center is it. I give it my highest recommendation.
Simply the best on the market.......2006-04-25
Great visuals! Comprehensive, mainstream and provocative. As an international mandala teacher myself, this is THE book I recommend to students. You will find yourself turning back to Bailey Cunningham's book again and again, for inspiration, art ideas and on-going knowledge about the way mandalas shape our human experience. Worth every penny...this book makes an wonderful gift too.

Book Description
The traditional designs known as mandalas were recognized by C. G. Jung as symbolic representations of the Self. This book is a practical guide to mandala drawing for personal growth, stress reduction, and creative expression. Fincher introduces the history and ritual use of mandalas in cultures all over the world; offers guidance in choosing art materials, techniques, and colors for the creation of personal mandalas; and discusses the symbolism of shapes, colors, numbers, and motifs, such as birds and flowers, that may appear in mandalas. She also presents several illustrated case histories of people who successfully use her techniques.

Simple tips for using simple drawing techniques to work on personal issues........2007-10-10
This book contains simple tips for using simple drawing techniques to work on personal issues.
I wish I had read more about this book before I bought it. I was looking for something like an illustrated how-to guide to the art of drawing complex Tibetan-like mandalas, that woud explain and elucidate the geometry and the symbology used in traditional renderings, so that I could create such wonderful masterpieces. Not at all what this is.
An indepth coverage of a very personal process.......2007-09-26
This book offers a very in depth study of mandalas. I was skeptical since mandalas are such a personal process that this book would be as comprehensive as it is.
Excellent job and if you get the other two spiral bound mandala books that go along with this - you can get over the intimidation of an empty circle quite quickly. I now have SO MANY ideas for painting mandalas of my own that I only use the mandala "coloring book" (templates) for relaxation exercises in the evening.
These books have truly been a godsend! Relaxation is the key and these mandala exercises are a great way to get there.
Enjoy!
An Excellent way to find out more about yourself.......2007-09-24
This book is an amazing way to find out more about yourself and where you are at any particular moment. I teach in a school for massage therapy and this is one of the things I do with my students. We spend a few hours discussing Mandalas and what their significance is and then they create one. It always gives them such great information and it's a great way to chart progress as well. Some of them do mandalas on their own throughout their time in school and we can watch them morph and change. This book gives detailed information, instructions and assements of what your mandala means. I highly recommend it.
Want to know about mandalas?.......2007-05-07
A lot of great information! If you want to know about mandalas, get this book. No art. No actual mandalas. Still, the best info I've found.
Mandalas and Their Meanings in Your Life. Excellent Book!.......2004-04-13
Susanne Fincher brings you a wonderful, comprehensive and easy to understand book on creating Mandalas and the meaning behind them. This gem of a book explains how to create a Mandala as a reflection of yourself; Creating and Interpreting the meaning behind your Mandala; What each color means in the Mandala; Using numbers and forms. In the section on "The Great Round of Mandala Forms" there is a wonderful paragraph that will better help you understand how much this form of art therapy can help you heal, it states: "A healthy connection between the ego and Self is very important if one is to be a fully functioning person. It is this linkage that is forged by the individuation process."
In this wonderful book's preface, Susanne shares that Mandalas are widely used by cultures around the world, such as Tibetan Buddhism, and Native American cultures. She genuinely shares how creating her own Mandala helped her to feel better while suffering through the death of a child. She shares how she uses Mandalas with individuals and groups in art therapy.
On a personal note, I learned that if you create a Mandala with the wish or intention for something in your life to come about, and look at it every day, it WILL manifest in your life. I actually tried this, and much to my delightful surprise, what I wanted did come about within a week.
Whether you want to create Mandalas for fun, healing, manifesting, art therapy, or just the joy of creative self-expression, this is one of the best books I have found on the subject.
Highly recommended!

Healing with Mandalas.......2007-05-12
This kit is the most interesting I have seen to date. It not only contains pictures of mandalas, but includes everything you need to get started making your own mandalas: colored pencils, black pages at the back of the book and stencils, one round so that you do not need a compass. I have used the stencils and from there anything goes as far as colors you use or if you wish to add anything.
The Mandala Healing Kit.......2007-02-26
This book is so informative and amazing. Great depth of history and cultural background as well as teaching rituals for making mandalas. The stencils that come with it are sturdy and made to last. I put them right on my drawing tablet and design on my computer. Not just for healing, you can create mandalas that will help you find love, a better job, etc. An excellent book.
The Mandala Healing Kit.......2007-01-12
I can't think of a better gift than this.
I went overboard and bought her Mandala Journey to the center too :-)))
Wonderful set altogether.
Spiritual Growth and Creativity to Open the Heart to God.......2006-03-31
"Every soul yearns for love. The cosmic secret is that pure love is within and all around you. You are the source of love-even if at this moment you do not believe this to be true." ~Judith Cornell, Ph.D.
The artwork in this book is especially beautiful with images of hearts and stars and planetaryscapes. Blossoming lotus flowers are surrounded by hearts and OM symbols and trees grow from the center of the page to organize thoughts. The artwork is especially stunning because it is drawn on black paper.
This kit includes everything you need to begin your Mandala journey. There are stencils, pencils and special paper. Stencils include: Dolphin, Parrot, Star, OM Symbol, Lotus Blossom, Circle, Moon, Stars, Celtic Cross, Butterfly, Turtle, Heart and Swan. If you think your kit is missing the black paper, that is because it is in the back of the book! I finally found the paper.

Ways to Heal the Mind
You may have had a "Mandala moment" in your life and never realized it was related to spirituality. For a few years I would draw flowers that expanded outwards and I never realized that during a painful time in my life I was being reborn or awakening. As my emotions changed, so did the flowers I was drawing. In the end, I did a strange "letting go" moment where I destroyed my art. I didn't know what I was doing at the tine, but it was almost a release of an old life in order to embrace the new. You may have had such moments with letters that you burnt or items you threw away in order to move on emotionally. This book addresses the idea of "attachment" and shows you how to let go of the past in order to embrace the future.
"Reacting to life situations with hate, anger, greed, and jealousy hinders the flow of this pure love, which is why Christ and all the great masters have exhorted us to love our neighbor as our (true) Self - acknowledging and honoring that same divine light within them." ~Judith Cornell, Ph.D.
I personally found that drawing Mandalas, even when I didn't realize what I was doing, was especially healing and there is definitely a connection between what you draw and emotional states. If you feel "in love" or happy you can draw some amazing things. If you are having a bad day, it might be reflected in more chaos or dissatisfaction. The meditation segments help to move you through that element into the moment of creativity and happiness where your energy flows more freely. Mandalas may also be a way to find out what you are really feeling. Some drawings can be a true revelation when you start to analyze them and write down what they mean to you.
This book shows how art and spirituality connect in moments of creativity. The art ideas can be used during mediation, after trauma or to reveal who you truly are. By learning to draw, you could unveil your inner world and express your creativity in a very spiritual and fulfilling manner. I could see poets wanting to make their own book covers or illustrators finding inspiration for enhancing creativity.
Just reading this book while listening to the CD is enough to put you in an altered state of consciousness otherwise known as a blissful state of happiness. It is quite possible to have a spiritual experience while exercising, while drawing and even while reviewing! While listening to the CD, I realized that the reason we feel better after attending a spiritual meeting at a chosen sanctuary is because the music raises our soul to a more beautiful place as if our soul is vibrating at a higher frequency. This allows for more radiance and opens the heart. The music on the CD seems compatible with all religious traditions and expresses a joyful gratitude to the Creator.
~The Rebecca Review
P.S. April 3, 2006 Update note - Yesterday I had the best Mandala moment. I created art for a personalized CD. I used the stencils to make cutouts which I then pasted on black paper. I used blue paper, the silver pen and white pencil with highlighting from the other pencils, blue, yellow and red. So, not only was it a spiritual moment, you can use this kit to make gifts/CD covers.
Book Description
Popular among designers and crafters, the circular symmetry of mandala designs also makes them fun to color. This eye-catching collection of "stained glass" illustrations invites coloring book fans to apply their hues to a variety of these intriguing patterns, complete with centerpieces of human faces, florals, mythical creatures, and abstract designs.

Nice but . . ........2007-09-30
These are nice designs. But like all Dover Coloring Books, the designs are printed back to back. So if you use markers to color, like I mostly do, they bleed through and ruin the back design. If you prefer to use pencils to color, then this is a nice book--as are many of the Dover series.
excellent.......2007-01-10
i've truly enjoyed the mandalas stained glass coloring book. It's very calming and soothing which allows you to forget the stresses of everyday. the designs are awesome!
Excellent selection of designs.......2006-07-19
There is a good selection of designs, and the print is on both sides of the page. The mandala will come out in much more vibrant colors if you use fine tip markers and color on both sides. The look beautiful in my windows and my only problem is that they don't perforate the edges of the page, so tearing the finished product out of the book is sort of a pain.
Mandalas Stained Glass Coloring Book.......2006-03-25
I found them kind of hard to color with pencils. The colors were not as vibrant as I had they would be. The designs, however were great.
two uses: coloring book and "stained glass" window decor.......2006-03-12
My 6-year-old daughter and I both enjoy coloring these mandalas and hanging them in the windows.
Book Description
Coloring the circular designs known as mandalas is a creative activity that brings relaxation, healing, and self-understanding. Susanne Fincher's first such coloring book, Coloring Mandalas, presented designs organized according to a scheme of twelve archetypal stages that represents a cycle of personal growth. This sequel focuses on a single one of these stages, "Crystallization," which is associated with the completion of a cycle of growth. Imagine a fully opened rose in a sunny garden, releasing its fragrance as it gently bobs in a summer breeze. This is the feeling of the stage of Crystallizationâa time of reaping rewards and benefits from the work we have performed; of realizing and appreciating our achievements; of resting in the pleasure of having fulfilled a personal creative inspiration. Crystallization is also a time of significant spiritual understanding, when our spiritual nature comes together in harmony with our physical nature. The mandalas in this book aim to: Help us understand ourselves and our place in the scheme of things Evoke a sense of harmony, order, and fulfillment Provide relaxation and a soothing balance for hectic lifestyles Uncover meaning in the ongoing stream of human experience Deepen our meditation Enable us to experience the spiritual energy that inspired these sacred circles

Makes My Mind "Go Away".......2007-06-09
Though I've just begun using it, I bought the Mandala Coloring Book to aid me in relaxation after hectic days and before bed. It is intriguing, to say the least. While coloring the intricate designs, I'm not able to think of much else, making it easier to wind down and "turn off" my head.
Just learning.......2006-12-22
If coloring calms you and you like art this is the book for you.
Fabulous fun..........2005-07-26
I found colored pencils worked best for getting into some of the tiny lines and tight corners of these mandalas. I found coloring them to be almost medatative.
I Felt Like a Kid Again!.......2005-06-09
When I was a little girl, my parents had bought me several coloring books that included wonderful geometric shapes - I absolutely loved them! Well, one day last year I got to thinking about how much I loved these particular coloring books, and since I remembered them being quite difficult back then, I started wondering if I might like to get some more and start coloring again.
I went on a long and arduous search to find these books (once I get an idea in my mind, I'm like a pit bull until I follow through), but none of the bookstores I went to had any idea of what I was talking about. Then I happened to do a search on Amazon, and found this mandala coloring book. Although it isn't exactly the same as what I remember, I fell in love with the beautiful shapes included on each page.
Plus, I got a bonus, as I had never heard of a "mandala" before, and the author gives some info. re: this at the start of this book.
I love to sit down with my colored pencils or gel pens, and let the stress melt away as I let my creative mind take over. I honestly feel like a kid again - and I love that!
If you are an adult looking for a creative outlet, someone who's interested in mandalas, and/or one who just simply loves coloring, then this book is for you!
Even better than Fincher's first mandala book!.......2005-04-14
I am so glad Fincher brought out this second book! I had already worked through the first book and taken such pleasure in it. Yes, the first one is good, but, for my purposes, the second one is even better.
It's made with the same high-quality paper that takes the colour so well and the same lie-flat spiral binding that makes colouring easy. There's a helpful little essay at the beginning explaining the author's theories concerning the mandala and why it can be so helpful both therapeutically and spiritually.
The designs are what make this book a standout! And there are so many of them: seventy-two in all! What abundance! Each one is a detailed and beautiful work of art, even before you start laying the colour down. Snowflakes, cathedral windows, tribal amulets: you will be inspired just by looking at these mandalas.
I often colour a mandala on my day off, in the afternoon, when the sun is slanting in just so. I open the book at random, and look at the mandala for awhile before getting a sense of what colour to start with. I never know what will be the end result until I've laid down the last stroke. And I always title and date the mandalas.
A hot bath, a glass of wine, a long walk on the nature trail and colouring. I love to colour, and this book gives me a lot of scope for creativity in colour design, as well as making me feel connected to past cultures.
Just a note: I did the entire first volume with a large box (48 colour set) of Prismacolor pencils and was so pleased with the results. The more colours you have, the more you can experiment. And go to an art store and get yourself a couple of nice, hand-held pencil sharpeners: you are going to need them. Many of the designs are quite intricate and detailed.
