Brutally Honest.......2007-08-29
This is a fantastic read, and is very well written. Some very cool photos and lyrics are included. I spent the extra money to buy a hardcover version which is a good choice. The drug addiction and honesty that Anthony brings to that disease is worth the read alone. It is awesome he has found a way to deal with his addiction and keep writing and performing at an exceptional level.

i was amased by this great reading. anthony isnt only an extraordinary performer but a very good writer. the moment i started reading it, i didn't let it out of my hands. fan or not of RHCP, you'll find this book entertaining.
Drugs, Women, Music and Drugs.......2007-07-25
For those who think they know the Chili Pepper story, or those that are new fans and are unaware of the beligerent lifestyle of the Chili's up unitl this decade, this book clears it all up. Discussed in a narrative voice, all the events and feelings are dictated by Anthony Kiedis and provide a real world connection to these superstars. His individual story as well as the group as a whole is shared in a way that makes them seem so human and makes anyone wonder, "how are these guys still alive, sane, and still making beautiful, boandary pushing music together?"
Never a dull moment!.......2007-07-15
All I can say is that I wanted to have a book to read over the course of about half of the summer and instead I read it in just a couple of days! It's heartfelt & candid. And its written through the voice of Anthony Kiedis rather than someone taking his thoughts and trying to put them in some dull, refined, intellectual way. Anyway, now I have to find something to read that won't bore me after reading this great book!

He eventually discovered music and fell in with Hillel Slovak, Jack Irons, and Michael “Flea” Balzary to form the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Song Stories Anyone??.......2007-06-11
When I first got this book I was so excited to finally learn the meanings behind those amazing RHCP songs.But the book doesn't really say much about the songs that fans don't already know. So if you are looking into buying this book, I'd say you should go for it. The pictures are definitely worth it, even if the words aren't. (And yes whoever edited this book did a terrible job, because they did mis-label some of the pictures.) But other than that, any RHCP fan would enjoy this book.

Well when I first bought the book, I expected to find out the reasons WHY the songs were written rather than the "intense bass lines".. The title is very misleading and was not was I was anticipating...
P.S.- I did enjoy the pictures even though some of the captions were wrong

Give it away is a perfect book for any fan looking to learn another detail about the chili peppers. I bought it for a gift for a true chili peppers fan and they loved it. It gives short blogs about each song and is really interesting. I suggest buying it since it not really expensive.
A poor shoddy excuse for a book........2005-11-27
The book should be "commentary about every song" rather than "stories behind every song". The only thing worse than the "stories" behind the songs is the fact that most of the pictures have the wrong attribution (they keep referring to Cliff Martinez as Jack Irons, and one picture says "Founders - Kiedis, Flea, Slovak, Irons" yet clearly has Chad Smith and Frusciante). The only thing good about this book are the handful of great pictures.
Not quite what I expected............2004-07-01
I realize that the RHCP didn't write this book, but I thought there might be a bit more personal insight regarding the who, what, when, where, and why the songs were written. The book's content consists primarily of magazine articles written about the RHCP over the years, followed by the author's own interpretations of the songs and HIS opinion of their quality.
It is well put together, and there are some great pictures, but I'm glad I didn't pay full price!

Rock Out With Your Sock Out.......2007-04-27
First of all, I must say, I really enjoyed this album. I don't normally use the words "dude" or "money", but dude, the Jupiter disc is *money*. The Mars disc was good too, but I think every song on the aforementioned disc was a hit, thus making them the ones I wanted most to learn to play.
All recordings feature the guitar and bass with no drums or vocals. This makes picking up the guitar parts considerably easier. All effects used are mentioned in the tab, and the tabs themselves seem very accurate when reading them and listening to the disc.
I think Frusciante's style of playing is interesting, and a good study for any guitarist. It's refereshing to hear a guy who is talented and really makes good arrangements, but isn't shredding and wanking all over the place. He also doesn't just whack on the same power chords all day long like every other modern rock band.
Furthermore, the band as a whole definitely remains fresh and valuable in a world where, I'm sad to say, rock is starting to suck really bad. RHCP makes me want to pick up my guitar, jam out, and be a better musician.
Fallout Boy does not.

Don't think twice before you get this. I'll be able to listen to all the tracks with guitar / bass isolated. They even mention the effects on the tabs.

This book is very good because it is accurate and complete. I bought this one with the guitar recorded versions. That was a really good choice because I like them better than the actual CDs. To hear Frusciante and Flee together without the vocals brings this album alive. If you get the book defiantly get the one with the CDs.
One of the best songbooks ever..........2007-03-16
This is a fantastic concept, executed nearly perfectly. Not only are the guitar tabs spot-on accurate (at least as I can tell), but the isolated guitar/bass CD tracks are very revealing. I don't even count myself as a Chili Pepper fanatic. However, Frusciante is easily one of my favorite contemporary guitarists. Stadium Arcadium may not be the Chilis' best record, but it demonstrates nearly every style and technique that Frusciante is known for. When you break down the guitar parts, it's surprising how simple his style is, though Frusciante is a master of layered guitar tracks (which the included CD's really help demonstrate). I can't play many of the riffs and leads as fast as the recorded versions, but they make terrific exercises and ideas for scale and lead practice. The CD's themselves are even a worthwhile listen if you're interested in recording and mixing. If you're a guitar-playin' Chili Pepper nut, this is a no-brainer of comsmic dimensions.
Please note: there is a separate bass book avaiable, and both of the books are available without the CD's. However, if you're ordering from Amazon, you'll get an awesome price for the CD edition, and I highly recommend it.

Flea has huge hands...or mine are too small..........2007-03-25
Every song is played straight through at normal speed and you can clearly hear every note. The tabs are great,but actualy reading the notation feels a lot easier to read. The only thing i would change is have single lick tracks or slowed down versions of songs along with the full length at speed tracks. this album isnt for beginners at all, but its not completly impossible.
Stadium Arcadium Bass Sheet Music.......2007-03-16
This is a great book! I've been playing bass for 3 years now and this is a really fun way to spend my free time. The cds are also a great addition; they really help out a lot if Flea's bass licks throw you for a loop. It's also just fun to play along with the CD's because they threw John in also. Also, if you can't read music, don't worry. Personally I'm a fan of reading actual music for many reasons, but if you haven't crossed that bridge in your bass playing career every song has tabs. This book is the ultimate hook up for any Red Hot Chili Pepper addicted Flea-loving bass fanatics! It rocks!

As a medium ability player i found this book more of a challenge than some of the other RHCP publications over the years. However as I wanted a challenge this book has been 100% brilliant to me! Once you get going on Dani California the world is a happier place all round! Top album, top book - can't recommend it highly enough.

This is a great RHCP book. It has tabs and sheet music for their landmark album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The album itself has great songs but the guitar book is a step up because now you can sound like the great John Fruchante with a single book. Dont hesitate to purchace it. Buy the album too. It Rocks
Best of the Peppers.......2003-10-08
This is their most funky, and punkish album in my opinion. With (bassist) Flea pop slapping the groves, and (guitarist) John jamming the catchy tunes that stay in your head this CD is very well put together. I would highly recomend this book to any guitarist who wants to have some fun, and learns the famous chart topping hits, or to any fan of the Peppers.
