Focusses a lot more on her and her work for the group than I'd have liked, but overall good.
She provides a no-holds-barred look at Alex's decline as an addict, her own denial of his addictions, his manipulative behaviour (same as any addict's), his rock bottom, and his struggle to recover.
It's a bit unclear if it covers only his first recovery or if it covers his relapse and second recovery as well which is frustrating.
Definitately a must read for any die-hard BSB or Alex Mclean fan though!

I would highly recommend this book not only to any Backstreet Boy fan. This book shows us all that no matter the challenge life throws at us and how difficult we think it sometimes is, only we have the power to change and most importantly we CAN change. A.J McLean along with his mother Denise should be commended. You are both an inspiration. Thankyou for sharing what would have been the most challenging and difficult time in both your lives with us. Ok I've read this book unlike the two people that bash it. You can tell Nargus hann't read it because she handled the virgin question very tactfully! I loved it. This book is for young readers so it doesn't tell anything bad! In fact I wish now that BSB fans are older there would be a real book about what really went on! Anyway this book rocks and is a good read! Don't bash something you haven't read!

I haven't read this book and I most certainly do not plan on reading it. Samantha Stonebraker is a coniving, money-hungry insult to the beauty that is Brian Littrell. I can't believe that this woman would sink so low as to try to make a few dollars off of an ex's success. This personally to Samantha: You are sick and twisted and I seriously hope you get what you deserve for exploiting Brian and the rest of the guys. Get a life.

Actually, I give this zero stars, but it won't actually let me do that.
The first thing that I have to mention is that I have never read this book, and I never plan to. But I think that the concept is absolutley disgusting. The excerpt from the back of the book made me want to throw up. Which of them are still virgins? That's really personal, and she has no right to be writing a book about that. If she ever really cared about Brian, and the other BSB, she wouldn't be writing a book about their secrets. If you really are a true fan, you wouldn't buy this book so you could read about all of their secrets. You would not buy it, because it is a total invasion of their privacy.

Okay...I love AJ to death and I'm glad that she wrote this book to inform other AJ fans out there of how the real AJ is. I mean, a real AJ fan could be nothing but grateful for such a inciteful depiction of the man himself. I love the fact that she gathered old pictures and letters....but what I didn't like was the fact that of the letters that she wanted to keep private...she really shouldn't have published them and then covered them up.. I was overall happy with the book.

I don't see how you can say this book is bad. It shows a soft and sweet side we usually don't see in AJ. You also know that you love AJ if you bought this book, so you know you love those pictures. And it seems to me that Marisa still loves him and is not trying to get revenge like some people think by showing all these things. So for my rating...5 stars. Buy the book, you WON'T regret it.

I won my own personal copy of Marisa's well written book, and I have to say, I enjoy the book! It is written in a very tasteful matter and the pictures are awesome. I don't think Marisa could have done a better job with it! It's terrific!

Why has this collection of scads of photographs of the Backstreet Boys proved so insanely popular? It is filled with intimate revelations about the band, but then, so is What You Wanna Know: Backstreet Boys Secrets Only a Girlfriend Can Tell, by Brian Littrell's first love, Samantha Stonebraker, and this is clearly the book that fans prefer. My theory is that the official book replicates the experience of reading your high school yearbook. The format resembles a yearbook, and it basically consists of excellent, colorful photos of the Boys at play (Nick putting chopsticks in Brian's hair in Tokyo, Brian demonstrating Nick's ticklishness on a tour plane), at work onstage, or hanging with diverse celebs (Tiger Woods and Prince Andrew, the Fonz, Hulk Hogan, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Baby Spice, Metallica, and many more). Each picture has a caption with one of the Boys' reminiscences, as if he had inscribed a photo of himself in your yearbook. The Boys' shrieking fans shut down Times Square during their MTV appearance for Millennium--the photo puts you on the scene, and the caption puts you in their heads. And a few days ago, I saw a copy of the BSB music book. I bought it (of course) for $20 or so and my next voice lesson, I had brought it. My teacher likes the music and lyrics so now I bet he's practicing. I had let him borrow it (and it's PAINFUL.) and before that, I would study and practice singing and following the right key and pitches. It sounds great on the piano and lets me know all the lyrics. I love practicing BSB music, and I bet you would too! :)

More of a BSB fan's Book.......2004-06-07
Matt Netter has an interesting style that draws the reader in, because he describes events as if he were right there. Take, for example, describing one of ten-year-old Aaron's concerts. You feel like you're right there.
That said, I don't really think that this book should be Backstreet AND Aaron. Although Aaron highlights the front and back cover, there's only 3 chapters out of 16 dedicated to Aaron. That's understood, since he was just turning eleven when the book was being published, but all the same, I think Backstreet Boys (feat. bonus info on Aaron) would be a better description of this book. The information that is on Aaron is common knowledge told over and over again in the likes of Bop! and Superteen!.
But as far as the (majority) part on the BSB, this was a very informative book. Even for a long-time fan, it may provide some new facts for you. ALbeit, this book is outdated, but I find it fun to go back and reread it, even five years after I got it.
Basically: Great book for a BSB fan or beginner Aaron fan.

This book has alots of cute pics but also quite a few bloopers-the author doesn't even mention Leslie Carter in Nick's sibligns she just puts Aaron,Angel and BJ but not Leslie but other than that it's a great book for scrapbook wanters, bt some of the info you can find on the net for free and some new info. Also, it's from 1999 so some of the info is out-dated.

This is a good book and it has good info, some of which I didn't know before, but I think it needed more good pictures. There are some cool pics, but also some dumb ones, so I gave it 4 instead of 5. It has a pic of BSB holding tennis raquets in front of their faces. WHY? I dunno. I guess it's supposed to be funny. Still, I think that any BSB fan would enjoy this. Most likely their official book is better. Maybe you should take a look at that first.

This book is really great! It has recent info and recent pictures of the boys from the time when they released their sophmore cd and recent stats of the boys. It has pictures of some of the boys girlfriends and also serves as a bsb scrapbook, there is a part in the book where you can put your favorite bsb picture and you can fill out stuff about why you love the bsb and why you are a fan. I enjoyed the pictures the most because they were recent and not old. I recommend this book to any bsb fan out there!

When I read the book I fought out how they first met each other. Their personal background, how they grew up as a child. I fought out that A.J., Kevin, and I went through the same thing growing up{if you know about those two and what happened in their life.} I love the Backstreetboys and I found out that they try every possible thing they can to make their fans happy. I think that if a Backstreetboys' fan wants to know everything about them they should get this book..It also, has awesome pictures of the group. So, if your a BSB fan I advise you to buy the book.

While people frown on this band as well as Nsync and other "Boy-Bands", they fail to value the potential positive influence such groups can have on our youth. And while those people are to busy doing that, you have the media who play on the emotions of teenaged girls (boys in regards to ChristinaA) and make these fine young artist into perfect-can-do-no-wrong idols and lead young girls to hope that somehow THEY will one day call one thier mate for life. This book does none of that but presents it's case in a down-to-earth manner in which fans can relate to. This can be a positive influence as well as an inspiration to the readers. So go out and get this for your little girl who adores these artist, it will at least get them off the TV for awhile. And it's better than all that teen-mag-fluff.
The Best BSB Book I Read So Far!.......1999-11-29
This is a great book! It has everything in it. This book has great pictures, personal biographies, and stories. My favorite part was finding out how crazy their fans can get! You should definitely get this book.

I think this book has lots of info, and some stuff you probably don't know, but there are two downsides to this book. It needs more pictures number one, and also the author of the book repeats some stuff too much. One other thing, that you can't really blame on the book, is that when they talk about releasing albums in different parts of the world, it gets a bit confusing! Otherwise, I thought this book was really great, detailed and gave an interesting view of the boys rise to fame.
