I'd rather smell diapers..........2007-10-16
than read the rest of this book. Despite her Princeton degree (which I think calls into question the caliber of the school), Brooke Shields has all the writing skill of the average 6 year-old. She is out of touch with the real world; she is a privileged, pampered, sniveling wench. Her complaints of powdery CLEAN diaper smell, having to take a crap, and having to be cleaned by a nurse because she was too damn lazy to take care of herself, all smacks of ego and elitism. I wish she had jumped out of the window, or swallowed the bottle of pills than taken taken pen to paper. I want my money back as I couldn't stomach one more chapter of this drivel.
I will however keep it on my bookshelf, because whenever I do feel depressed, this book with indeed be the antidote. For THAT, I thank Brooke Shields. What a hilarious, mad-cap adventure it is!
depicts PPD perfectly.......2007-09-30
I, too, had severe PPD. I, too, have written a book about it. This is 50 times better than Marie Osmond's book. If you are gettting it because it's written by a celebrity..well I suppose that's appealing to some people...but this was not like Marie's book in that regard. Brooke comes across as a regular person. PPD is not picky about who it afflicts. Brooke is real and open and brutally honest. She helped me identify some feelings I'd not been able to express. Thank you, Brooke, for doing such a great job! I have no idea what you could've done better. In my opinion, this was dead on and flawless. If you don't buy my book, buy Brooke's!
Just OK - not really that much on PPD.......2007-09-10
It felt like the PPD was discussed very briefly and most of the book was her telling her story of how she grew up, how she wanted a baby, how hard it was to get there, how she missed her old life, how she then loved her baby, how cute her baby is, how she balanced her career and motherhood, her relationship with her mother, yada yada yada. I certainly wouldn't read this book to learn about PPD. It is just an easy read book if you are interested in looking into the lives of celebrities.
Changed my life!!.......2007-09-04
I'm so glad i bought this book. I was suffering from postpartum depression, and I was ashamed of the thoughts that i was thinking and why i didnt feel a bond with my daughter... I read the book and it made me realize I needed to do something about it. GREAT BOOK!!
Honestly Written.......2007-08-15
Honestly written, so truthful,I am sure it was as painful to write as it was to experience. This had to be. For Tom (Jack*ff) Cruise to go spurting off his ideas and opinions(opinions obviously not solicited from Brook or her husband) was not only in poor taste, but dangerous. What is wrong with him? Not that I think America at large listens to Tom, I for one will not buy any paper, book, see any movie or show that endorses him. As for his poor wife katie Holmes she looks miserable and should run....not walk away from this marriage. He is as lousy as a bedside doctor as he is an actor. Matt Lauer should have b*tched slapped him when he got in his face. While I myself had uneventful pregnancies and no problems after(NO blues, thank God)It is thoughtful and honest and gives other women hope. God Bless Brook and her children.

Britney's coffee table book.......2007-04-15
This giant coffee table book retailed for 30.00 US dollars, so the Amazon used/new price is very good. The pictures are pretty good, but not phenomenal. Britney is so photogenic that anyone could have done just as well, if not better. Also contained in the book is little messages (to Britney) from Britney's friends and family. These are kind of interesting, because they give you an idea of "who Britney is", as told by her closest friends/family members.
If you buy the book, make sure you get the bonus DVD. I didn't find it as amazing as some of the other reviewers. I didn't like how they cut out just as things got interesting (such as when Britney is meeting with the tarrot card reader). However, there was some interesting moments, such as Britney's press conference with the Mexican media. I was amazed at how rude they were to her. They asked question's like "how much did you pay for your mansion", "can you get up and show us what your wearing; can we see you from behind" ?
Great Visual Book.......2005-07-31
This book is awesome, its full of amazing pictures that capture the real britney. Even if your not a britney fan you will still admire all of the awesome pictures. This is a must have for any die hard britney fan like myself.
AWESOME.......2005-06-09
The DVD & poster are great bonus with book. Fully illustrated. I must have for all fans or collecters.
Oh please??.......2005-05-17
Get real. Britney is So out of date. Not anyone to follow. HA!
If you don't have it, it's your lost!.......2005-02-10
STAGES is the latest show book of Britney Spears. This book is fabulous! There¡¦re so many colorful and beautiful pictures inside the book. I can¡¦t tell how fabulous and wonderful this book is, I think fans of Britney Spears should not miss this fabulous book!!
Although this book does not have a story, but it still got some words that Britney wanted to tell her parents and family members. The best part of the book is the free bonus DVD with a title called ¡§Three days in Mexico¡¨. The DVD shows you what happened to Britney before her final 2 concerts in her DREAM WITHIN A DREM tour, during the concert, during rehearsal the concert and what happened during the FINAL concert. And the book also came with a beautiful poster! By the way, I was surprised about the shape of that book! It¡¦s huge!
I can also tell that this is the best book in all my collections. If you¡¦re fans of Britney Spears, what are you waiting for? But this book RIGHT NOW !!!
Book Description
WATCH OUT is the story of Jonathan Barrows, a man who falls in love with himself, literally. He is secretly attracted to his own body, carries out an erotic relationship with a blow-up doll that resembles him, and takes pleasure in rejecting the advances of his many admirers, both male and female. He descends into a world of carnivorous priests and Prozac-popping Polish prostitutes and eventually assassinates the world's most popular pop-diva, Britney Spears. "You strange creatures," Barrows declares, "you are nothing more to Me than a meal at the fast-food restaurant of life." But who will end up being devoured? Written in an eye-popping style that will shock the most jaded of readers, WATCH OUT is destined to become a cult classic, and Joseph Suglia, a cult icon.
Customer Reviews:
WATCH OUT-DON'T MISS IT!.......2007-10-15
I won't waste your time by giving you a detailed plot summary of WATCH OUT by Dr. Joseph Suglia. I don't want you to waste another minute before buying this amazing book. Suffice it to say this book is a riveting journey inside the mind and life of the narcissistic character of Jonathan Barrows. I was so fascinated by WATCH OUT that I immediately began to reread this thought provoking book as soon as my eyes turned from the final page. It was even better the second time around.
WATCH OUT is full of philosophical pearls of wisdom enbeded in an over the top style that will stun you into deep thought between gasps of laughter. The chapter on Jonathan Barrows becoming a man when his parents buy him a slot of time with a Polish prostitute is one of the funniest chapters I have ever read anywhere.
Dr. Joseph Suglia is one of the finest writers of our time. While some will be offended by the bits of graphic violence overall this is a literary masterpiece not to be missed. You will laugh out loud, squirm with revulsion, and engage in deep thinking. The character of Jonathan Barrows is not one you will soon forget nor is this book. WATCH OUT..don't miss it!!
Deliciously Freakish.......2007-10-06
WATCH OUT is unsettling, gruesome, twisted and yet oddly addictive read. At times you will laugh out loud at the absurdity that is protagonist Jonathan Barrows, who is a sociopath in the truest sense of the word. At others, you will feel faint and ill from the visceral images of violence in the novel. On more than one occasion, I found myself thinking, "I cannot believe I am reading this. I need to stop. But certainly it cannot get anymore horrifying. Wait, it just got worse. I have to put this book down now seriously. Oh no, I am done with the book. When does Dr. Suglia's next masterpiece come out?"
And yes, folks, this book at heart is a work of art. You better "watch out" for Joseph Suglia, if he is not the greatest author in the world yet, he will be. The man is a literary wonder. His twisted genius is palpable on every page. His use of language will astound you and leave you awestruck.
WATCH OUT is freakish, feverish, hell of a nightmare, but it is also one of the finest literary works you will ever read. For the latter fact alone it is worth your time.
Floruit .......2007-10-03
I, Douglas Spitzer, and neither Leah Meth nor Joseph Suglia, own the following review of WATCH OUT. In recognition of all other reviews, some of them mere bilge or possibly blague, of this opus, I must act rather the intelligencer than the critic. Much unknown matter waits to tackle your minds, as none tackles it as such, that is.
Suglia breathes flames of the perverse vis-à-vis the flow of popular assemblies--i.e. stupidity, the viral agglutinate hypostatizing the oleic, insular, illiterate philistines. WATCH OUT is the up-to-date emunctory pasquinade of culture (akin to, yet far more straightforwardly hyperbolic than, The Dunciad by Alexander Pope, for ensample) and, at the same time, of the depths (and hollow paunch) of erethism upon which one may englut oneself, of course, towards vengeance. Understanding proves futile in sustaining oneself on that which has no sustenance itself.
Students of philosophy and introversion will find new representations of despair, existence, the grotesque and echoic, cyclical last laughs in allusions (à la Kafkaesque drama) to an inexhaustible discourse. Here, then, are some esemplatic suspicions & poesy:
"A whirl of black envelops me. / I cast my mind into the abyss. / I am immersed in the weltering night. / The darkness deepens and thickens. / But from where I am lying, the core of darkness isn't dark enough" (4).
"If My body were to liquefy, how would I differentiate between My thoughts and the things of the world?" (111).
"Activity is annihilation" (117).
"[T]here is no difference between his consciousness and the outside world; the surrounding ether is but an illusion" (117).
"Desire is not merely geared toward an object. / Desire is geared toward the desire that surrounds that object" (113).
"Within the flesh, the flesh" (118). This insight interests me greatly. A virtuoso controversialist, a Poète maudit of "supreme self-possessedness," the protagonist bears an agreement,--but what have we thus? Simulacra! Metaphysical machinery! Even entelechy is anti-climactic; the highest level has a depression:--I speak of a cullis (112).
The finest highlight of the book is besides the content, or message, however, and reveals more colors than before conceivable of our Language; no deed is greater than renewing the horizon of possibility and purposeful bearing of thinking, which, as a violent contrast to the unimaginative wor(l)d bank we find cuddled at the teat by the soul-dead, enchorial misoneists of the multitude, sublimates, in each sentence, peril. For the phenomenological ubiety articulated by the solipsistic narrator, lurid and contumelious or not, eructates pataphysical, and especially parlous prose. With regard to the etymology of peril, one finds that its ultimate base, in principal and in practice, means "to lead across," and, thus, the infinitives to experiment and to experience assimilate that property (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=peril&searchmode=none).
What `s the story about? The book, insofar as it overflows with strength of thought & criticism, has the story about it, on its outer side, its ephemera; the kernel consists of an uncompromising display of what is, as J.K.L Scott attributes to the writing of Boris Vian (to whose curiosity Suglia takes a liking), "simultaneously comic and horrible" (From Dreams to Despair). As the eidolic epicene Barrows relates to, encounters, collates, muses over and cleaves (to) erumpent appendages and their egesta, or that which concerns him as the bizarre, or levogyrous, his edacious, egomaniacal desires are his steadfast companions among an abulic population.
Keeping in mind some paradigmatic remarks by Edgar Allen Poe shall keep the author's energy fluid as ever: "Some things are so completely ludicrous that a man must laugh or die" (The Purloined Letter). So much for the either be dour or devoured approach that is nothing more than the likely misprision all difficult texts incite at trial. To all your "judges," cum grano salis!
From thence the abstract communicates positively with the provocative and illustrative. Barrows, the most perverse, unbowed Bohemian, penetrates out of a cave within a cave of inanition, at one point, to save us from ourselves, to have us reexamine our morAILity--the unchallenged reign of lechery, lustihood, etc. Whither besides has been catapulted the design of our Scheol? A direct assertion, such as "ALL OF YOU ARE POOR!...STUPID!...RELIGIOUS FANATICS...THE SLAVES OF THE STATE!" (145), and others the most unaccountably precarious as to make the book appear enceinte with (our) reality (of precariousness), helps to define, as it were, the parabolic excursions into a lyophilized world of formidable contradictions and engorging alterity from without the protagonist, who is to mark separation from the dithering crowd.
The ever never-ending INTERMISSION, a chapter phantasmagoric beyond its novel, its literary easel, of spectral witness of primordial instincts, encarnalizing capacities and playself temper, is distinguished by, in fine, a genuine reflection of reptilian genuflection, of the sorbing, saturnine, tentacular patrons of the crowd.--Herpetology is in for many surprises.
Suglia poeticizes to comprehend those prefatory mordacious tusks (similar to individual members of the crowd) which lead one into the greater gullet by muscular contractions: "The fair-goers are pulverized, ground up into minute quantities, and then fed into the crowd-machine "(119).
"On the one hand, the crowd infiltrates and colonizes your body, making it its own. On the other hand, the crowd liquefies your body, melting it, until it coalesces with the viscous mass" (119).
In what way does Suglia characterize his narrator through German metaphysics and French letters? Inscribed on that query is plain evidence of Barrows' interests. However, I myself took Barrows to portray the combined spirit of the future of It (from Stephen King's It, further details of which I cannot present lest I ruin significant moments for those who read it not) and the past, or rather youth, of Horace Rumpole. One can, regardless, comment on the state of unintelligent censorship currently: the story mediates the writing through which a precise theory resists & satirizes an excess-fearing and -punishing hegemony, thus:
to alliterate is to obliterate
to assonate is to assassinate
to ideate is to violate
Egregious espionage upon Barrows, or Narcissus proportioned externally to tragedy, consumes a world of mundane hopes, vacuous retribution and wayward self-repression. Interspersed are references to classic, radical freethinkers such as Max Stirner & Joris-Karl Huysman, who influence Barrows' provoked aphorisms, narratorial egotistical echoes (e.g.: "the mentally feeble, when confronted by a man of greatness, give rein to their envy, self-hatred, and stupidity" (193)). Moreover, in the fictive mode of the Stirnerian transcendental subject, the reader is taken to the origins of subjectivity, a realm wherein depth and superficiality overlap, at the base of the abyss of madness, such that the cogito is based on the excess of madness--which, in this case, giddily, and no less wistfully, counters the voluble puppets of mass media, mainstream culture, lifelessness-for-sale.
The shock is part of the repression. And so, this novel, WATCH OUT (not an heretification, as in the sharp-set Father Bernard's Great Sermon by Lesek Kolakowski, but acumen cathecting epithets to dance with mordant spirit. Indeed, how great it is to read a writer who winnows the right words for the occasion, whose eye, lyncean, emmetropic, appreciates the complex of our language.), cannot instantiate its main communicativeness until the canons of Western literature either dissolve, as some would have it, or look past the past as such; Art, in this latter way depends so far on one's self-becoming, one's creation of applicable ethics, as to vanquish hyaline, mawkish, blasé, etc. clutches of dissimulators, hollow-heads, etc., whose religion conquers with pride toward ruthless utility and "the banalization of the world" (145). Until then, perhaps to each reader the extensible message shall be that which is grasped and savoured to complement her/his singular notions (one of mine above confessed, &c.), and not aborting the rest, but gleaning this engine of phenomenological vatic warning--"WATCH OUT"--the parturient par excellence--of a world sadly self-gagged and run amok by scaramouches.
In case anyone cares to read a word on the pop-diva assassination, Barrows always already smote to emote. Whence the cinematic version may, with an excess it is folly to describe, bunt our society into consciousness.
I avow this novel's eidetic writing as a psychical parturifacient; Suglia forces the reader to think; in this way one can use this kind of creative experimentalism as a springboard for an emprise all one's own. Although artistic projects today still do not generate much curiosity, their presence is indispensable, maugre, and yet forever because of, their limits coming to be un-limited, analogized thus by Poe: "The extreme fury of the blast proved, in a great measure, the salvation..." (Ms. Found In a Bottle).
With a bit of studious progress it may be said that the doomed clock & clocked doom abide by their sensational expressions--another allusion, this time with respect (or: respectful foreboding) to The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats. It is clear that the other reviews have not mentioned this, but for the sake of the text, a variorum would enable wider discussion of possible themes, influences, interpretations, etc.; on second thought, with the readership thus attained, the book, while obscure, excites too many cretins for that particular fruition.
In light of the cloak donned / the don cloaked by Barrows ("I am made a dark and incomprehensible figure" (112)), Suglia's pen inhales the lustre of the stars, concision and purity,--opera to the phantom.
Oh dear..........2007-09-29
Watch out is the intensely neurotic story of the auto sexual Barrows and his creepy quest for self satisfaction. Everyone wants to sleep with him; male, female, it doesn't matter. Barrows is almost androgynous that way. There are points in the book where it's really hard to tell what gender he is by the words and expressions used. He appeals to everyone, but wants no one other than himself. Sounds simple, right?
Wrong. There's so much more to it. The detail, the philosophy. There's no logical hole in it. Why he does what he does actually makes sense. Some of it will make your stomach turn. But it's sexy, in its own unique and profoundly disturbed sort of way.
I don't want to give away too much, because I think you should read it. Suffice it to say that there are things in this book that made me wince. There are things in this book that offended me. I spent more time shaking my head saying "what the-?!" with this book than any other I can recall reading. But Suglia is the only author I've read who could do all that while making me laugh.
This book made me feel dirty. I am a cruel, voyeuristic, vile person for enjoying it... but I plan on reading it again.
WATCH OUT.......2007-08-19
"Watch Out" by Dr. Joseph Suglia follows the life of Jonathan Barrows, a man who finds himself in the Crystalline Hotel awaiting an interview for a teaching position at a community college. To understand Barrows, one must speak English, French, and German, or at least have good dictionaries around. But there is more, for "barrow" means "ancient, earthen burial mound," and it is through Barrows' lens one sees displayed the gems of literature, culture, and history, the artifacts left behind, yet another foreign language in a modern world that consumes fast food and episodes of Becker. This great divide which the reader must hurdle through reflects the leap Barrows must make in order to withstand the torment of a world he cannot embrace, only loathe.
Perhaps due to the intensity of his misanthropy, Barrows objectifies all of human existence, whether living or inanimate in nature, best represented by Barrows' love doll who receives the treatment that would otherwise be doled out to the self-absorbed Barrows. Because Barrows views himself as the embodiment of all existence, one wonders if there is not a schizophrenic, fragmentary break in his vision, allowing him to see only the phantasms of ordinary existence so that he is not tainted by them. Unfortunately, the incident with the love doll's defenestration breaks this virtual barrier Barrows creates for himself, and he is thrust into the vile, contaminated world from which he longs to differentiate himself.
"Watch Out," almost an orgiastic, autoerotic self-love festival, abounds with things taken from ordinary life and bathed in the semen of Barrows' phallic I -- for example, cream sauce at Lobster King may as well be plainly called ejaculate. This clear-cut conflation of fluid with semen posits a masculine-derived world, one which should be at odds with pre-Nietzschean hierarchization -- considering Barrows' world is entirely post-Nietzschean -- yet still firmly planted in it. God being dead leaves His spot open, and Barrows takes his place. Or is Barrows filling the shoes of "everyman"? Can he do both simultaneously, even if he doesn't set out to be everyman? Doesn't Barrows irreverent behavior mirror the exaggerated gestures of the masses?

A great book.......2007-03-20
I think this book was amazing. I have always liked Britney Spears, so I picked up this book, not sure that I would like it. It is now one of my favorite books, among Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia. This book has a great story to it. I love the ending. I have not always been a great reader, but this book encouraged me to read more and more books. now I don't want to stop!
I've got to tell you.........2006-08-07
most people wouldn't give this book a chance simply because of the authors..
Then again, I READ it simply because of the authors, to see how badly they could do...
I was wrong and quite surprised.
This was a bit of a moving story and I really enjoyed it.
Clear message, but not beyond a bathroom-read........2005-07-04
I hate to review books with negative comments, but for this one I had to. I knew that Britney went to school only until 9th grade, and hence the quality of literature would not be jaw-dropping. And the book proved me right. Looking strictly at the literal aspect of the book, sentences were choppy, characters are not thoroughly developed and vocabularies she uses were quite primary. Regardless of her target audience (which from the quality of the book, must have been targeted at first to third graders), she should consider that this is a novel she is writing. I was shocked to read sentences like "People say that once a terrible thing happened, and people died." (page 3). Whoa! That sound very sad, huh?
I felt like she had done no research about writing a "novel" not an internet fiction. She seemed to write about her own experiences in Holly's viewpoint because she was also at one of those training places for kids. And now she is a platinum singer, almost like Holly.
Now, though I was disappointed with the plot and the quality of her writing, I must credit her for the attempt to write about the strong bondage between Holly and her mom, Wanda. The concept of family is often neglected in the busy society we are living in, and the unconditional love and support that moms provide is worth being highlighted. This book has a strong message and maybe Britney can choose other fields to make her living out of.
Pretty good.......2004-11-06
I wouldn't say that this book is boring or fabulous, it's just fine. Although i'm a huge fan of Britney, and i used to say that everything about her is fabulous, but this book is not really interesting and it's a pretty short story, you can finish it in 2-3 days. You many consider buy STAGES instead of this, STAGES is 10 times better than A MOTHER'S GIFT!!
A Mother's Gift.......2004-08-16
This book is pretty average. I would not say it is a good book for older teens to read because the plot is much too simple. I would recommend this for the preteen age group.
The story is somewhat entertaining, with the main character Holly dreaming of being in a famous music school, Haverty. Holly is accepted into Haverty and begins to realize how much her simple country life at home differs from the lives of the other rich students. There is also the mystery of the scar on her mother Wanda's face, which tells the story of Holly's mysterious past.

I am Britney's number 1 fan. I read everything about her. This is probley the bestest one. One thing why I like it shows Bitney's style in clothes.
Product Description
By writing so unabashedly about the glitter, the effluvia, the very Britney of contemporary American life, Ryan Van Cleave may have shortened the shelf-life of these poems, but few readers of today will be able to resist his supercharged language and unbound satirical exuberance.
Billy Collins, U.S. Poet Laureate 2001-2003
Book Description
From the Archies to Britney Spears, bubblegum music has excited every generation of music lovers. Featuring interviews with many of the genre's major creators, this ambitious anthology dismantles the worst myths about how bubblegum is produced and identifies the gum tendencies of artists as various as the Sex Pistols, Abba, the Monkees, and the Ramones. The book reveals the light and dark sides of the music, telling bitter tales of litigious backstabbing, pistol-wielding producers, and the perversities behind the jingles.

Letter to the Editors.......2005-07-15
The following is a copy of a letter I wrote to the editors of "Music Is the Naked Truth" - it says all I can say about the book:
I'd been looking forward to reading your book
"Bubblegum Music is the Naked Truth" for several years
and finally got hold of copy and read it last month.
I felt like I needed to contact (you) the editors,
if only to express my major disappointment.
Your book is advertised as a dark history of bubblegum music
and I was looking forward to some sort of logical outline and
readable history of bubblegum (a type of music I don't know much about)
However, immediately upon reading the introduction and first few
tentative essays, I could see it was going to be rough going.
While planning the book, I'm sure you all thought it would be cute for
your contributors to use as many kooky and coy references
to gum, candy, sugar, sweets, etc as possible.
While delving into your book, initially the candy
references were annoying...then they became plain
excruciating... and then painful. The painful candy references
on almost every page made reading the book an almost impossible chore.
But I'd paid good money for it, so I struggled through all the "gooey,
chewy, yummy" references
Another glaring annoyance in "Bubblegum Music is the Naked Truth"
is the fact that there are NO color photographs inside...and what photos you
do place in the book are all 2 X 2 inches and in gray-ish black and white
Oh, wait...I forgot...there IS a large forlorn photo of a Monkees lunch box...
...but why are all the other photos the size of large Puerto Rican postage stamps?
A book about bubblegum music without color photos is
beyond ridiculous. Something along the lines of a thick,
colorful, well-written glossy would have been preferable
and you may have sold a few more books.
I'm sure by now your book as become the "textbook"
on bubblegum music...however, it's clearly not.
And I'm sorry I paid money for it...and I would
feel guilty loaning it to friends or even donating
it to my local library.
Thanks for reading and better luck next time
Give me more, more, more of that bubblegum music.......2003-11-09
This is a collection of essays about (yes) bubblegum music. Most of them are very interesting. If you like to interested in the lighter side of rock and roll, this book should interest you.
POP!.......2003-03-07
I'm a big fan of bubblegum music (it's not often someone will openly admit that), and I thought this book was going to be interesting. It was, to an extent. All of my favorite bands were listed (1910 Fruitgum Company, Ohio Express, and my personal faves, The Monkees), and a lot of the cartoon rock bands were talked about, too (mostly from Hanna-Barbera Studios, such as The Impossibles, Josie and the Pussycats, and the Banana Splits, just to name a few). Another one of the book's best moments was the "100 Greatest Moments of Bubblegum" list in the beginning (or something like that)
However, there were some drawbacks to this book. When they were talking about the producers and record labels, the essays got kind of long, and sort of boring. I got bored with this section very quickly. Another downside to the book was when the authors were talking about the Backstreet Boys, 'NSync, Britney Spears and the like (which in my opinion are NOT bubblegum) and then comparing them to The Monkees (which is totally bogus, becuase the Monkees DID play their own music after the first 2 albums, and 'NSync and the rest have yet to actually pick up a guitar, but I digress).
Other than the drawbacks listed, I think you'll get a bang out of this book. It's the perfect thing for those who grew up with the Partridge Family and the Monkees, or those of you who are new fans, and want to know more about the subject of bubblegum music.
SPLAT!.......2002-01-22
The naked truth, indeed!
Editors Kim Cooper and David Smay have outdone themselves in producing the definitive work on the wildly popular yet strangely esoteric world of bubblegum rock, compiling dozens of essays written by some of the finest scribes of the underground press.
Case in point: "Looking for the Beagles" by Steve Mandich, the author of the fantastically comprehensive biography "Evel Incarnate: The Life and Legend of Evel Knievel." Here Mandich sheds a similarly swell light on the all-but forgotten rockin' doggie duo the Beagles, who starred in their own short-lived late-'60s Saturday-morning cartoon series and released one gleeful pop album.
Other contributors include the comic world's Peter Bagge ("Hate") with a hilariously enthusiastic overview of his young daughter's contemporary bubblegum CDs, Jake Austen ("Roctober") deconstructs KISS, and, in the interest of fairness, Dennis Eichhorn ("Real Stuff") bursts the bubble with "I Hate Bubblegum!"
Buy for its long-lasting flavor.

Amazing essay collection.......2001-08-17
This was a rarity in non-fiction for me: I couldn't put it down! So many of the essays were so wonderful, I just had to keep reading to see how strong the next one was. There are a few that I can tell were included more for completeness than quality compared to some, but overall this book is highly educational and entertaining at the same time. Worth it for anyone with an interest in pop culture. Also would make a good gift for that too-snobby-for-the-room culture vulture in your life that needs to be reminded that even The Ramones got into kitsch.

Book Description
American singing sensation Britney Spears and her mom talk about life, love, fame, and following your dreams.
Britney Spears makes success look simple. As Brit will tell you, though, success is hard work--you need talent, belief in yourself, and someone else who believes in you. For Britney, that person has always been her mother, Lynne Spears, who is not just Britney's mama but also her best friend.
In
Britney Spears' Heart to Heart, Britney and Lynne share the inspiring story of how one little girl from Kentwood, Louisiana, turned into a music phenomenon. From the days of singing at talent shows and family gatherings to recording ". . . Baby One More Time" and performing with NSYNC, Britney and Lynne share intimate details about Britney's rise to stardom. But this book is much more than just the story of Britney's life. In their own words, Lynne and Britney talk openly about the challenges facing all mothers and daughters. How do you encourage your child? How do you talk to your mom? How do you overcome obstacles? How do you put together your own "dream team" that will always be there for you? How do you deal with success--and failure? How do you talk about dating and relationships, dress codes, self-esteem, and body image?
Featuring never-before-seen photos and dozens of behind-the-scenes stories about life at home, in the studio, and on the road,
Britney Spears' Heart to Heart is not only a must-have for Britney fans, it's also an honest look at what it's like for girls to grow up in today's world. Here's straight talk from the heart, from a mother and daughter who know that love, faith, and family always come first.

I just wish that she could sing..........2006-10-13
The book is boring, and by buying it you are feeding the all time Hollywood mashine.... and make more profit for Britney ( does she need more money, than what she has? and still not happy? my suggestion she she should try an ordinary 8am-5pm job. Don`t waste your money. It is time for her to grow up.
Britney is Strong Woman.......2005-08-17
I read this book to know Britney Spear life and I'm not dissapont. She tells a lot of her stories and she work very hard to be famous star in world. Her mother also wrote the book together and she is good model for Britney Spear. These womens have feet on ground and strong value. Iam very happy that Britney will now have her baby and be good mother like Lynn. Well done Britney!
Britney Spears' Heart to Heart.......2005-08-14
Britney Spears as you already know is sweet, sensitive, and caring. This book broadcasts that. Its genuinly a good book. I wish I could write something like that!!!!
2 all Britney fanz and motherz and daughterz.......2003-12-20
Not only is this a good item 4 Britney fanz, but also 4 motherz and daughterz. It tells otherwise untold tales about Britney, and what goes on in her life. It also shares advice for parents and teens about family realtionships.
Well-Written, Wonderful Book!.......2003-04-20
Britney and Lynne Spears have done a wonderful job writing Britney's life story. The book chronicles Britney's entire life from her birth to after the release of "Oops, I Did It Again". The book shows that Britney wasn't always rich, in fact her family did go through some financial problems. Britney and Lynne also write about how from an early age Britney showed her talent for singing and dancing. I specifically enjoyed reading about Britney's childhood, there is a lot of information about young Britney that I loved reading about. It was also interesting to learn about how Britney got her record deal, and how nervous she and her mom were before her audition- the same one that ended up giving Britney a record deal! Britney and Lynne talk about mother-and-daughter issues, such as clothes, serious issues (such as sex and drugs), how to help each other over come obstacles, amd more. This was an awesome book, perfect for any Britney Spears fan. There were also tons of cool pictures, of Britney from when she was a baby, as a child, a teen, and all the way up to the year 2000. However, I feel as though Britney and Lynne should write another updated edition of the book soon, as it has been a while!
