Learn to speak Chinese.......2007-10-19
This product was a good deal. It is fairly a complete package to obtain a comfortable level of fluency in Mandarin Chinese. It is more for those desiring to learn to speak the entire language than those who wish to learn a few phrases for a quick trip to China. Very good for those with long commutes.
Excellent Supplement.......2007-05-16
The most important thing to remember when purchasing this pack is that these CDs are for beginners, NOT novice speakers. People who have had some training with Chinese in the classroom or self-study may be able to pick up and use this CD pack, but the information is presented too rapidly (and there is too much presented at once) to be good for initial acquisition.
I would give it 5 stars, but there is no clear advertising about this product. If I had some information about the rapid pace and the target audience, I probably would not have purchased this set. It will, however, be a useful set once I've mastered some basic phrases.
Excellent! CD 1 and Beyond.......2006-06-16
The 'good' doesn't stop with CD1. It's just beginning.
I notice no difference between the approach used in 'Behind the Wheel Chinese/Mandarin' and other Behind the Wheel courses I have used.
CD 2 and beyond evolve sentence building, tenses, expressions,
and tons of vocabulary that they teach you how to assemble.
Great course.
Good for listening comprehension and practice.......2006-05-06
This audio set is very useful for getting an idea of how things are pronounced natively, and some slight variations on those pronunciations. However, it would not be a good idea to start here, as it relies heavily on memory. However, a good accompanying set to any books and courses.
Meant to be listened to, not to replace study while not driving.
Great Course - Multi-Track - 2 Native Speakers.......2006-03-24
I tried Pimsleur's Chinese (Mandarin) (Instant Conversation) and returned it because it didn't have multi-tracks, they presented too little vocabulary and the the course was 'rigid'.
I prefer the method in Behind the Wheel Chinese because there are multi-tracks
(very important for in-car language learning), a good memory technique and great original sentence formation exercises that get you speaking Mandarin from the get-go.
Book Description
DESTINOS is an innovative beginning Spanish program based on a 26-week television series premiering on PBS in the fall of 1992. The 52 half-hour shows of the series use the powerful appeal of a uniquely Hispanic genre -- the
telenovela (soap opera) -- to make language and culture come alive. The situation and context of each episode introduce students to the basic structures, language functions and vocabulary groups of Spanish that are then presented in the print materials. (Most grammar explanations and exercises are in the workbook/study guides.) This complete one-year course is designed to help students develop communicative proficiency -- listening, speaking, reading, and writing -- as well as cultural awareness in Spanish. The plot of DESTINOS is designed to engage student viewers from the very beginning. A wealthy Mexican patriarch, nearing the end of his life, reveals a secret he has kept from his family for many years. His revelation leads to some important questions that must be answered before he dies. Raquel Rodríguez, a Mexican-American lawyer, embarks on a search for those answers, a search that takes her to Spain, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and back to Mexico. Students and viewers can join in the search -- learning Spanish and about the rich and diversified cultural context in which it is spoken throughout the world.

Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish.......2007-03-29
The format and content of the course is the best I've found. A great way to supplement your learning and practice. We are using it in an informal conversation group to give us a basis for discussion as we view and do our workbook practice.
muy excelente para todos quien quieren aprender el idioma!.......2005-08-04
(translation of title: Very excellent for everyone who wants to learn the language!)
I cannot emphasize enough how beneficial the Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish series is for those who want to learn Spanish, or become more familiar with the language. This was used in a course I took at college, and it felt like we were all travelling along with the main character, Raquel, a lawyer who travels from her home in Los Angeles, to Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Puerto Rico, as part of her work with her clients, a family living in an estate in Mexico City.
The format of this program is styled after the Latin American "novelas" (soap operas). In other words, you will need to carefully watch each episode, to keep up with plot details. But, not to worry, because Raquel reviews what happened with you, at the end of every episode. Each episode is entirely in Spanish, and it gets you thinking in the language, comprehending what is going on very quickly, as well as picking up interesting information specific to the cultures she is immersed in, during her travels. We learn about art, music, dance, food and slang. (Slang is also a very valuable thing to know about, when travelling in Spanish-speaking countries. Words that are acceptable in one country could get you shot in another country---this isn't addressed in the episodes, but that is really important to be aware of)
I am pleased to say that the series is entertaining, educational and very beneficial to students. It makes you WANT to learn, and also, in spite of the melodrama, you will want to stick it out to the last episode to see how things turn out. Muy excelente!
¡Destinos es muy fantastico!.......2002-06-24
I'm using Destinos in a telecourse, and am having lots of fun with it, and even learning some Spanish. My listening skills have improved dramatically, since the video is the main learning tool, which forces one to sharpen up and really listen to what's going on. The workbook that accompanies Destinos is really detailed, making it possible to learn a considerable amount of Spanish grammar on one's own. Overall, the best Spanish textbook I've used yet! ¡Adiós!
Destinos rules!.......2000-03-16
okay, if you don't like Destinos, then you just aren't with the picture. Its the best, its the bomb, and if you don't like it, don't diss it! Go back and do your own little fancy thing! Forget the world around you and sit on your couch!
Encorages Bilingualism and Culture.......1999-07-23
Last May (1999) I finished my fifth year of Spanish. For two and a half years my class used Destinos. After the AP exam, of the 7 Students who took this years exam, 4 non-native "4's" and one non-native "5". I myself and a much stonger speaker now that I am in college. Destinos promoted speaking from day one and it gave real results. I am exceling in my cuture classes and also with different Spanishes (mex, castilano, argentinian) Destinos gives a well rounded look on the Hispanic Culture. I enjoyed following the charaters through their journeys (video series). I highly recommend this text/video series too all.

Customer Reviews:
Nice follow up to Behind the Wheel Spanish I.......2007-06-27
Behind the Wheel Spanish I blew me away. I'm an intermediate to advanced Spanish speaker with a big gringo accent. The Level I was so amazing that this Level II program didn't impress as much. Still, the practical application of this program is solid. The variety of words and verb conjugations presented is outstanding. Overall this program is still definitely a 5 star rating.
Best Spanish Learning Program Ever!.......2007-05-17
This is an awesome product! I have both Behind the Wheel Spanish I and II and they have helped me learn so much Spanish! I am so much more confident to speak Spanish with native Spanish speakers because of these c.d.'s. They're interesting and the simple way they explain Spanish grammar and sentence structure is amazing. I teach English as Second Language and I'm learning how to teach English better using their simple and effective approach!
Works pretty well.......2007-01-12
For the most part, this was beginning/intermediate. The male voice was great, but the female voice sometimes spoke to fast and didn't enunciate and I couldn't understand, not even if I went back. I've picked up a great deal, however, and the repetition is necessary.
CDs are great.......2007-01-09
The only problem I have had with these tapes is that the seem to have a skip or something and I didn't notice it until I got to it (the 3rd or 4th CD in the set). By then it was really too late to return them. However, for the most part I don't have a lot of problems with them and I do like the lessons.
Excellent Vocabulary Builder for the Intermediate to Low Advanced Student.......2006-04-02
As the editor of the Learning Spanish Products Reviews (LearningSpanishProductsReviews) site, one of my responsibilities is to review learning-Spanish resources that are listed on Amazon. I am also a native Spanish speaker and a professional private Spanish instructor.
Like Learn In Your Car Spanish, Behind the Wheel Spanish 2 is a course that allows the user to learn while driving or performing another activity. However, I undoubtedly prefer this course over Learn In Your Car Spanish for several reasons. First of all, each CD begins with a 'pronunciation guide" to assist the student in proper pronunciation. Secondly, the CDs also have numerous short stories or short dialogs that are read by a native speaker. By listening to these short stories or short dialogs, the student is able to quickly improve her listening comprehension. Thirdly, the narrator instructed the native speaker to explain to the student when words varied from one country to another. One example, the native speaker told the word for "bus station" as it is said in most of Latin America as well as Mexico.
Lastly, the native speakers vary the speed of their speech. You will hear the native speakers speak at a pace slightly slower than normal speech so that you can emulate the native speaker and develop proper pronunciation. But you will also hear the native speakers speak at normal speed to improve your listening comprehension and to also prepare you for actual conversation.
Another positive point to this course is that you will learn a huge amount of vocabulary. If you are an intermediate to low advanced student and you are looking to expand your vocabulary, Behind the Wheel Spanish Level 2 will leave you quite pleased with the vocabulary that you have learned.
Book Description
George Hall is an unobtrusive man. A little distant, perhaps, a little cautious, not at quite at ease with the emotional demands of fatherhood, or manly bonhomie. He does not understand the modern obsession with talking about everything. “The secret of contentment, George felt, lay in ignoring many things completely.” Some things in life, however, cannot be ignored.
At 61, George is settling down to a comfortable retirement, building a shed in his garden, reading historical novels and listening to a bit of light jazz. Then his tempestuous daughter, Katie, announces that she is getting re-married, to the deeply inappropriate Ray. Her family is not pleased – as her brother Jamie observes, Ray has “strangler’s hands.” Katie can’t decide if she loves Ray, or loves the wonderful way he has with her son Jacob, and her mother Jean is a bit put out by all the planning and arguing the wedding has occasioned, which get in the way of her quite fulfilling late-life affair with one of her husband’s ex-colleagues. And the tidy and pleasant life Jamie has created crumbles when he fails to invite his lover, Tony, to the dreaded nuptials.
Unnoticed in the uproar, George discovers a sinister lesion on his hip, and quietly begins to lose his mind.
The way these damaged people fall apart – and come together – as a family is the true subject of Haddon’s disturbing yet amusing portrait of a dignified man trying to go insane politely.
A SPOT OF BOTHER is Mark Haddon’s unforgettable follow-up to the internationally beloved bestseller THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME. Here the madness – literally – of family life proves rich comic fodder for Haddon’s crackling prose and bittersweet insights into misdirected love.
Customer Reviews:
crazy hall.......2007-10-18
Mark, esperamos tu tercero.
very moving.......2007-10-16
One of the best books I've ever read. It's an account of a dysfunctional family going through a number if stressful family situations. I found it very moving at points, sometimes funny, sometimes very sad but always believable. I really recommend it. I would not give 5 stars lightly, but this book really got to me. I do think that because of its content it may be something of a love it or hate it kind of book.
Extremely well written and funny.......2007-10-15
When I was asked what this book is about, all I could say was it's about a dysfunctional British family. The daughter is getting married, the father is having a breakdown. So the plot sounds--is--very pedestrian, and there's not much that happens to change that assessment. The interest is entirely in the telling. Haddon has a very dry, deadpan sense of humor, including a postmodern sense of the absurd, which I found consistently entertaining. I don't consider it life-changing, nor do I expect to remember it for years, but it was a great way to spend a few days.
Funny and touching novel.......2007-10-07
I read Mark Haddon's already acclaimed debut novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, a few years ago and found it to be one of the most interesting books I read in years. Plus, it was damn funny, in that English stiff upper lip sort of way.
In his follow-up novel, Haddon takes the same approach as he did with his first, but instead of detailing the inner world of an autistic teenager, he takes on a recent retiree named George Hall who exhibits all the trademarks of men who find that once they have to deal with their wife and family 24/7, that they almost would welcome death as a good friend. Also, George is a man who cannot articulate his problems, because, well, that would not be right.
Still, convinced a bit of eczema on his hip is cancer, George goes into a tailspin, just as family situations become even greater than one can think of. This laugh-out loud slice of domestic life is wonderfully realized by Haddon, and it zips along from one major family problem to George's increasing morbid fascination with death. There is some deft comic touches here, and while there are no big surprises here, and you know how it will end, Haaddon's ability to create real characters with real problems is a talent little seen in today's fiction.
Fascinating stuff.......2007-10-06
An interesting romp through the lives of a troubled family. I found it difficult to follow the character names but once I wrote them down I was able to get it. Excellent and memorable scenes near the end that make up for some overly-depressing stuff early on.
Book Description
The Kanji Dictionary has been hailed as a revolution in Japanese language reference materials. Including over 47,000 character compounds, it employs a unique multiple-reference compound system: every compound is listed under each of its component characters. This unique, time-saving feature makes finding compounds fast and easy. Entries are arranged according to a simplified radical-based reference system; comprehensive on/kun readings index and a handy radical overview lists add other parameters for searching for entries. Newly coined terms, particularly those in new technical fields, are added to the most common and most important terms and expressions currently in use.
Customer Reviews:
Great!.......2007-06-02
This book is awesome. It helps me so much everyday as I am trying to teach Japanese to myself. I have a passion for languages, and this really is a great accent for my passion.
Great Tool!!.......2007-04-02
I found it very usefull in learning japanese. It's a very versatile tool.
Binding concerns.......2006-09-30
I hesitated ordering this book because a previous reviewer reported that he had found the binding to be inferior. Perhaps this was true in previous bindings, but the copy I recently obtained looks fine in this regard and should stand up to heavy use for some years to come.
I'm finding this an excellent disctionary in all regards, though as a beginner I have not put it to lots of use. Basically I use the New Nelson, with this dictionary as a supplement, especially for compounds. And there are times when this alternate system of radical identification is just easier than the traditional system.
HIGLY RECOMMENDED.......2006-04-05
when I did an internet search to locate this, I found a number of negative reviews. Basically the consensus seemed to be that the character lookup system is new and therefore bad.
I disagree. The system the authors developed is the first "rational" approach in that it does not require that you know what the important radical is in order to look up a kanji. Morever, the ability to look up compounds using any character in the compound is very useful.
However, there are some negatives:
(1) the authors are not entirely consistent within their own approach.
E.g., the characters under the radical for hand are grouped under the three character radical, which is the way it is written except when it is written as a single character. However, the character for hand is written with four strokes, and you must know that in order to find it under the three stroke index.
this is the example that comes to mind most immediately, although I believe there are others.
(2) the binding is not of a very high quality. if you use this frequently (which you will), it will eventually break the spine.
i gave away my first version after it split in two. my current version is in four pieces.
on the positive side: this is so extremely useful that I am going to order a third copy.
HIGHLY RECOMENDED.
One big lump of knowledge.......2005-08-23
I bought this dictionary just when I was beginning my fourth semester of japanese lessons, to help me with my future translations and with the learning of new kanji (which is always a useful thing, since many tend to get disappointed when they know they have to learn about 2,000 to read the newspaper).
I have always thought that with any given dictionary, there are two main issues you have to keep in mind: how complete it is, and just how easy it is to use.
I have not as of yet searched for any kanji I have not been able to find, so I'd say it is fairly complete. This is an extremely thorough dictionary, covering not only an incredible amount of individual kanji, but a whole lot of compunds (the dictionary claims over 47,000. I'll take their word.), so there is a very good possibility of you too finding the character you are looking for.
As for the second issue, I must say I'm surprised at how easy it is to find kanji. When i first heard of the system kanji dictionaries used for listing them, I was appalled. I was pleased to find, nevertheless, a full two-page-and-a-half brief manual on how to use the dictionary that gave me all the preparation I needed: I was succesfully looking up kanji in now more than 10 minutes.
Basically, there are two ways in which you can find a given kanji in this dictionary: by their readings (either the on-yomi, or the kun-yomi), and by their stroke count. The 79-radical system can be a little confusing at first, but is fairly simple to get used and not at all as illogical as one might think.
The only complaint I have so far is the lack of internal references made in the dictionary. For instance, one of the appendices lists the 1006 "gakushuu kanji" (the kanji taught in elementary school), but their are numbered straight from 1 to 1006, without the reference to the dictionary entry for each of those kanji. The same thing happens to the kanji in "the 100 most frequent kanji", "the most frequent kanji used in family names", "the 284 extra kanji for use in given names", etc. Adding that would be a real time saver if you are planning, as I am, in using the dictionary as a learning tool.
Still, it's a great tool, and I'm really convinced that this was one of my truly great buys. Definitively 5 stars.

Customer Reviews:
You'll love it!... if you're 67.......2007-09-21
The reason there are no good books on comedy is because it is an inherently impossible field to "break down" and "explain." These guys do an okay job of relaying the history of comedy, but they do nothing to actually explain anything.
Besides that fundamental flaw, these guys are simply too old and the book reads like my grandfather's "1001 Polish Jokes." This advice would have been pretty helpful is honing your standup routine for Ed Sullivan but in 2007 it just seems pathetic and lame.
Dated, but useful.......2007-09-13
If you can get this book cheap, then I would recommend it simply for the fundamentals. However, it is a painful book to read; it is very old (1987) and, ahem, in some ways politically incorrect (but then again, everyone is so damn sensitive these days). I first read this book in 1989 - and it was useful. I picked it up again this year (2007) and realized two great lessons: 1) That some forms of comedy are classic and will always work. 2) That times change and humor does as well ... what might have worked for you two years ago may need to be reworked and changed around.
Well done!!!.......2007-07-26
This is a good book for anyone who wants to learn methods and concepts on comedy writing, or even how to construct material/jokes for their own personal life. This book is aimed toward people going into stand-up or comedy writing, but it is also very useful for people who just want to broaden their sense of humor. This book is broken down into different concepts and joke types, and each joke type is explained on how it is constructed. This book also has exercises on how to observe things differently, particularly how to "find the funny" in everyday things, and to take these observations and turn them into tools for laughter. I recommend this book to anyone entering the field of comedy, and also to people who would just like to expand their sense of humor. There are also some very good jokes inside! Very enjoyable read!
What other comedy books don't tell you.......2007-07-13
And it's not because they are withholding the information either!
Breaking down comedy into a scientific method is not an easy process. PLUS, there's a lot more to it than just understanding the core structure of comedy. With that being said, I think you'll find a lot of gems in this book that will make you funnier in your every day life.
Not just for writing comedy, this book will help you be funnier in general in your interactions with your friends and co-workers.
A lot of it deal with content. As this book was written for Comedy WRITING, it was written in mind that you cannot use your personality, way of acting as a shtick. So it relies heavily on the CONTENT... it's very potent, because communication is said to be over 90% body language.
If this is true, and you learn (and you can) to be funny with the remaining 10%, IMAGINE... how funny you could be if you started working on your general ating shticks and personas.
I've used this book to see how I could use it in my every day to be more interesting in general I think it will serve you well if that's what you're looking for.
VERY HELPFUL FOR ACTORS.......2007-03-09
THIS IS A GREAT BOOK OVERALL. AS AN ACTOR I HAVE FOUND THE TECHNIQUES HELPFUL FOR MY ACTING AND SCREENWRITING AS WELL. YOU REALLY NEED TO BE PATIENT WITH THIS BOOK AS IT IS LONG-WINDED AT TIMES. IT'S QUITE THROUGH THOUGH AND DOING THE LITTLE HOMEWORK EXERCISES IS IMPORTANT. THE FUDAMENTAL CONCEPTS ARE HERE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES, IF THERE WILL BE ON.

Engaging and Challenging.......2007-10-19
This is Christian Historical Fiction which is at the same time an intriguing story that captures your imagination, and also challenging to the reader to consider how you would react in a similar situation. It is a very good read for even non-christians with vivid details of period life in the Roman Empire. The plot line is realistic, complex, and well paced.
Submerge yourself in Roman history!.......2007-10-10
Short of jumping into a time machine and visiting the Roman Empire at the fall of Jerusalem, this is the best method I would suggest for understanding the setting of the New Testament. The "world" that is referred to in Paul's writings is clearly understood for what it was, and the parallels to our lives today are uncanny and alarming. Be warned, however, Rivers graphically, but appropriately shows the Roman Empire for what it was, so this book is not for the faint hearted or young readers. I challenge you to read it and see if you ever think about the Jews, Romans and other Gentiles of the Early Christian Age in the same way ever again.
Not for the faint-hearted.......2007-08-22
It was difficult for me to come up with a rating for this book. It was well-written with a captivating story. The ending left me wanting to know more about the characters and I will probably read the next book in the series just to find out what happens. I am also a fan of Francine Rivers and have loved a number of her other books.
The problem I had with the book was the graphic portrayal of the Roman empire during the time of the story. The author was very open about the society of the times and that meant that there was a lot of violence and sexual innuendo throughout the story. As I generally tend to like authors who do not sugar-coat their stories I was puzzled as to why this bothered me.
I do tend to be very squeamish when it comes to gory violence. The fights of the Roman Empire were quite violent and were vividly portrayed that way. The sexual content also bothered me. There weren't any details but the author gave enough information to leave little to the imagination. This is probably came from the fact that she wrote Romance novels before switching to Christian Fiction. I personally thought it was a little over done.
My favorite character in the book was Julia; the spoiled rich girl who reminded me of Lady Macbeth from Shakespeare. It was her story that kept me reading as I wanted to know more about what was going to happen to her and I wanted to see what other choices she might make. It was the flaws in her character that made her the most interesting to read about.
I tend to read books in the Christian genre when I'm looking for a good story without an overabundance of scenes I would prefer not to read. If this is not why you would pick up this book then it may be the right one for you. I would not recommend this book for young teens or anyone who wants to avoid reading material that has a lot of violence and sex as it is impossible to avoid in this book. When I make my choice in ratings I base it on whether or not I would own or would re-read the book. In this case I would not do either but I can easily see why someone else would answer yes to both of those questions.
In summary, if you are not bothered by violent fight scenes and/or sexual innuendo then you may very well enjoy this book. It was definitely an interesting read and it gave me a greater insight into the Roman Empire. For me, it proved a little too strong for my tastes.
Breath taking.......2007-05-30
From the moment I began reading this novel it simply took my breath away. I just could not stop, and when I had to put it down, I was counting the minutes or hours that I had until I could begin. I highly recommend this book.

Book Description
This collection of Neruda's most essential poems will prove indispensable. Selected by a team of poets and prominent Neruda scholars in both Chile and the U.S., this is a definitive selection that draws from the entire breadth and width of Neruda's various styles and themes. An impressive group of translators that includes Alistair Reid, Stephen Mitchell, Robert Hass, Stephen Kessler and Jack Hirschman, have come together to revisit or completely retranslate the poems; and a handful of previously untranslated works are included as well. This selection sets the standard for a general, high--quality introduction to Neruda's complete oeuvre.
Pablo Neruda was born in Chile in 1904. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971.
Customer Reviews:
Gracias a la Vida de Pablo!.......2007-08-04
M.Eisner has compiled an elegant presentation of the profound Pablo's soulful echo. The translations are smooth and majestic. He has clearly discovered the light radiating from Neruda's heart. Thank you for this lovely red poppy edition!
Lovely Collection of Poetry.......2007-06-01
This beautiful collection of poetry contains both English & Spanish versions of Neruda's poetry. It contains great breadth & depth at the core and encompasses the vastness of Neruda's work - love, politics, everyday life, landscape. This is a GREAT gift book!
Wonderful tool (and treat!) for those learning Spanish.......2006-10-10
My husband is a linguist, and one of the things he suggested I do while learning Spanish is memorize various items -- stories, poems, songs -- that I can say to myself whenever I like. Other than "practice the verbs!" this has been the best language advice I've ever received. It helps me with pronunciation, understanding, fluency -- and, as a major side benefit, I have great pastimes for when I'm waiting in line, or stuck somewhere without a book.
"The Essential Neruda" is a goldmine of beautiful pieces, and most anyone will be able to find a poem that appeals to them enough to learn by heart. "Oda al Libro (II)" is one of my favorites, and it has helped me learn and retain the meanings of several great words.
Side-by-side bilingual texts like this one also serve as terrific motivators for language learners because as we grow in skill and are able to read in both languages, we can evaluate the translators' work and notice where certain nuances and meanings are lost in the shift from one language to another. Being able to understand a writer like Neruda in his original language is a glorious treat!
an exquisite allure.......2006-05-22
Drawn into the appeal of Pablo Neruda through an art project, I
approached this collection of poems taped together and bound by
a red sleeve at a local bookstore. I was moreoverly surprised
at how entrancing and delicately eloquent Neruda's writing style
was--even transcribed from spanish to english. The editor, Mark
Eisner did a fantastic job with the translations, and I didn't
feel like I was succombing to "Kung-Fu movie" subtitles as I
would have expected. This collection brought Neruda's poetry to
a managable and palpable understanding, such as I needed to
thoroughly perceive it. Though Chile, Neruda's homeland, is, as
any other cultured region would be, variable to my own, it
continued to bring insights to my own observations of life--and
all the beauty and exquisite allure contained in it.
it is all in the title.......2006-01-16
As a former student of Spanish literature, I have always held a deep appreciation for the work of Pablo Neruda. I have often wished to share the beauty of his work with friends and family - yet many of them have found Neruda translations to be inaccessible. I have also found that many of the other translations are stilted or do not properly recreate the rhythm and imagery of the Spanish original.
The Essential Neruda combines an excellent overview of Neruda's work with accesible and faithful translation. Whether you are new to the poetry of Pablo Neruda or have already read every one of his works - the Essential Neruda will give you valuable insight into his art and an appreciation of cutting-edge poetry translation.
This book also launched a non-profit organization and on-line community dedicated to Neruda and his work.
Check out www.redpoppy.net to learn about contemporary Neruda translation and scholarship, Chilean politics and more.
It also shows how you can get involved with the legacy of Neruda.
