Book Description
Bodie, Kane, and Marcus’ Investments is the leading textbook for the graduate/MBA investments market. It is recognized as the best blend of practical and theoretical coverage, while maintaining an appropriate rigor and clear writing style. Its unifying theme is that security markets are nearly efficient, meaning that most securities are usually priced appropriately given their risk and return attributes. The text places greater emphasis on asset allocation, and offers a much broader and deeper treatment of futures, options, and other derivative security markets than most investment texts.

So Far, So Good.......2007-05-11
As an investment banking analyst and proprietary investor for Wall Street's two most prestigious firms, I would like to attest to the firm economic underpinnings of this book. It is refreshing to see a chapter devoted to criticisms of the efficient market hypothesis, though a further discussion of behavioral finance would be greatly welcomed. This book is concise and provides a good balance of theory and practical knowledge.
Book Description
Corporate Finance is today’s most authoritative book on— and covers every angle of—corporate finance. Updates to this edition include a more user-friendly approach, new or updated cases that illustrate top companies addressing real world situations, topical articles written by scholars and practitioners, and more.

This is an excellent value for the price that I paid and the quick delivery in which the book was delivered!! This seller was very courteous and responsive to my questions!! A+++ seller for and A+++ product!!
UoP Must!.......2007-01-03
Addendums are an important reference item. The entire text was thought provoking and challenging. I'm glad that I chose to "bite the bullet" and spend the 'extra' money on the text which is not the case with all UoP courses. This time it paid off.
Corporate Finance-Stephen A. Ross.......2006-11-10
Well organized and adequately comprehensive. Could use more material in certain areas, but that's a personal perspective. Overall, good book.
Neutral.......2006-11-10
Kinda hard to understand and the information provided in the text is not presented very clearly. Maybe it is just me and I did not finish the whole book anyway. I actually haven't read any of it since chapter 2... since now I rely on mostly the professor's notes which I find easier to understand than the textbook.
Great book.......2006-10-30
I had 6 edition of Corporate Finance when on my MBA program, which at that time was an excellent book. Now i wanted to refresh the knowledge and bought this one, and it was a good improvement over the one i had. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn or refresh corporate finance.
Book Description
Corporate Finance, by Ross, Westerfield, and Jaffe is a popular textbook that emphasizes the modern fundamentals of the theory of finance, while providing contemporary examples to make the theory come to life. The authors aim to present corporate finance as the working of a small number of integrated and powerful intuitions, rather than a collection of unrelated topics. They develop the central concepts of modern finance: arbitrage, net present value, efficient markets, agency theory, options, and the trade-off between risk and return, and use them to explain corporate finance with a balance of theory and application. The well-respected author team is known for their clear, accessible presentation of material that makes this text an excellent teaching tool. Brad Jordan, known for his successful work on the RWJ Fundamentals and Essentials books, contributed to this edition. His influence will be seen particularly in the writing style with smoother coverage of topics, and the increased quality in the problem material.

Too Expensive but there's hope........2007-09-30
I found the international version for over 1/2 the price on ebay on through Amazion resellers. The lone diffs between both editions are the end of chapters exercises such as Case Studies and Film examples are missing. Hence, after chapter 1, pager #s are different. No big deal. I also liked the softcover edition since it weighs far less. Page quality / stock / ink is excellent.
Keep This One on Your Shelf.......2007-07-17
All managers and HR professionals should have a copy of this textbook on their shelf. I used it for a graduate MBA class and liked it so much that I kept it instead of selling it back on this site--the true mark of a quality textbook. The examples used follow many current headlines, so it's worth picking up the latest edition available.

HR Management Book Review.......2007-02-14
The book is received in extremely good conditions. It has very good and interesting topics. Perfect for anyone who is searching for material with great tools to use at work.
Good infos.......2007-01-17
This book was required for my online class. However despite the hardship I faced with the class, this book is great to explain the Human Resouce functions and what to expect. I suggest watch the videos in addition to the case studies.. That have lots of information on it. This is a beginner book on Human Resource therefore, keep in mind, you most probably have read some of the concepts else where. None the less its a great book to learn more about human resources.

CRAFTING AND EXECUTING STRATEGY.......2007-09-22
IT TOOK A WHILE FOR THE TEXTBOOK TO REACH ME. I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH HOW SLOW THE DELIVERY PROCESS WAS AND ALMOST DIDN'T HAVE THE TEXT IN TIME FOR CLASS. SERVICE AND DELIVERY COULD BE MUCH MORE PROMPT.
Perfect!.......2007-09-20
This book is just what I need for my class - Strategic Management - the one class I absolutely have to take in order to graduate since I'm a Business major.
Excellent Product+Service from Amazon.com.......2007-03-13
This was the best product i've ever purchased from Amazon.com. Until most recently, I've only bought textbooks from Amazon, and that too at a very short notice (the kind of lazy person that I am!).. and Amazon has really kept me happy!
This is a great book for those taking a course on Strategic Management, and for those who are not, but are so much more interested in learning so much about how all those CEOs do their work. This book has got it all, complete with real-world case studies of your most admired corporations, how they've been faring good or bad, and develops a real deep insight into the precedant variables that have caused it's current performance. This book is superb for those who wish to analyze the nuances of what it takes to run a business (any business). Highly Recommended!
About Amazon, I can't thank them enough. I needed the book within three days --I had a class assignment due in that time, and lazy that I am, I had to wait until the last minute to order it. But, thanks to Amazon's 2-day "guaranteed" shipping that I received it on the 2nd day. Guaranteed!
Also highly recommended to all those who want it "fast"...!
Book Description
Market-defining since it was first introduced,
International Business 6e by Charles W. L. Hill, continues to set the standard for international business textbooks. In writing the book, Charles Hill draws on his experience in teaching, writing, and global consulting to create the most thorough, up-to-date, and thought-provoking text on the market. Because many issues in international business are complex, the text explores the pros and cons of economic theories, government policies, business strategies, organizational structures, etc. Hill’s: International Business is known for its strong emphasis on strategy, and for maintaining a tight integrated flow between chapters. Hill’s book is practical in nature, focusing on the managerial implications of each topic on the actual practice of international business. The author’s passion and enthusiasm for the international business arena is apparent on every page as he strives to make important theories interesting, informative, and accessible to all students.
Customer Reviews:
Hill's International Business.......2007-09-27
Great book for my MBA course in International Business. It is well organized, full of clearly defined principles, and loaded with case studies.
Don't waste your money.......2007-06-28
I think that these reviews are for the textbook and not for this "outline." This product is nothing but a glossary and binder paper. It isn't worth half the price. I'm very, very disappointed. Most of the definitions are repeated in other chapters and it gives definitions for words like "Disney," and "Accounting." This thing is completely useless to me.
Culture, Economics, Stategy, and Corportate Functions.......2007-05-17
I've used previous editions of this text in my international business course, and have decided to adopt this one as well. The text does a great job of hitting every topic that international business people/corporations need to know. The text covers country differences, economics, strategy, and corporate functions.
Another Amazon review incorrectly suggested that the author of this text is biased politically and in favor of larger firms. If the author intended to introduce a political bias in the text he certainly could have done it with the cases, but it is clear from reading such cases as the Kellogg Brown & Root case on page 190 that the author has no particular axe to grind. It is, in short, simply impossible to guess the author's political orientation.
The book also has no bias in favor of larger firms. The business school in which I teach is (in fact) oriented towards entrepreneurship and smaller firms. The text was selected, in part, because the information imparted would be just as valuable to small firms as it would be to the large. The author specifically addresses the topic of "mini-multinationals" as well as topics that would be of interest primarily to smaller firms.
smooth transaction, exact product, nice&easy supplier.......2007-05-14
exact product at an affordable price w a smooth transaction
Bias written into text.......2007-05-13
If you don't mind your information being written from the Western, pro Big-Business, capitalist view, the bias conveyed throughout the text won't be a problem. But if you are looking for something objective, something to fairly present the concepts associated with globalization, search elsewhere.
In the first two chapters alone, several instances of bias are written into the text. For example, in the first chapter, protesters of the WTO are referred to as "anarchists" and in the second chapter the difference between communists and social democrats is claimed to be that communists use violence in their revolutions. This is clearly not the case. While historically this may be true of the revolts, this is not even close to the fundamental difference between the two groups. For the first example, it can be seen that thousands of people gather to protest the WTO and it is certain that a select few, if any, consider themselves anarchists.
It is clear where the author stands!
Book Description
The market leading Essentials of Investments, 6e by Bodie, Kane and Marcus is an undergraduate textbook on investment analysis, presenting the practical applications of investment theory to convey insights of practical value. The authors have eliminated unnecessary mathematical detail and concentrate on the intuition and insights that will be useful to practitioners throughout their careers as new ideas and challenges emerge from the financial marketplace. Essentials maintains the theme of asset allocation (authors discuss asset pricing and trading then apply these theories to portfolio planning in real-world securities markets that are governed by risk/return relationships).
Customer Reviews:
Excellent book for begineers.......2007-05-10
For someone who is new to world of finance, this is best book I have come across which is easy to read and covers details of investment. I like the layout of chapters and most of basic chapters are followed by more advance concepts in next chapter.
If you'd like a serious headache, buy this book........2006-10-05
I made the mistake of choosing this book as this text for an undergraduate finance course because it is used by the New York Society of Financial Analysts in their portfolio management class. Don't make the same mistake!! Part One is very informative and gives the reader practical information and advice. The rest of the book is terrible. The equity section concentrates on Modern Portfolio Theory--the Efficient Fronter, co-variation, efficient markets, blah, blah, blah. While Value Investing is mentioned (barely), it is almost an afterthought and it's certainly frowned upon. I wonder how poor investors like Warren Buffet and Seth Klarman have made any money at all using the Value Investing approach. I found the section on bonds and fixed income portfolio management interesting but difficult to follow. I traded corporate and municipal bonds for 20 years. If I had not had such a background, I would have been totally confused. If you are a quantitative GENIUS, this book MAY help you. If you are not, you can choose another book and learn much more.
Poor.......2006-06-16
This is a poorly written finance text. It is not organized and unclear in some sections. I have a degree in Finance, and I would never recommend this book to anyone.
Knowing your subject and knowing how to teach it are different things.......2006-05-21
The authors no doubt know Investment analysis. Unfortunately they don't communicate that information too well. Frequently happens when Phd's forget they are writing to students, not other Phd's. Bought this book for a senior level finance course, required to complete my major in finance.
Even my Prof. started the course with, "the textbook is difficult to read but just follow my notes and you should do ok". Not too good of an endorsement for a textbook. Now, after completing the course, I am searching for another text on the subject to keep as a reference. Even after the lectures, this book's explinations of the same topics are difficult to follow.
Excellent Introduction.......2006-05-13
Bodie's "Essentials of Investments" sevres as helpful, comprehensive introduction to investments. This book is modeled on Bodie's larger graduate text "Investments" leaving out only the sections on Equilibrium in Capital Markets and skimping on some of the finer mathematical details within the other sections. You will prefer this book if you are just beginning in the field, and you will not be disappointed with what you learn. The book is an easy and engaging read if you are an "intelligent layman", and it is certainly feasable even if you have a limited general education background. Overall, great introduction to the investment field. Recommended.
Book Description
Succeed in econometrics with INTRODUCTORY ECONOMETRICS and its accompanying resources! Easy-to-read and student-friendly, this economics text places an emphasis on examples that give a concrete reality to economic relationships. With study tools found throughout the text, exam preparation and class projects have never been easier. Coverage of important knowledge used for empirical work and carrying out research projects in a variety of applied social science fields gives you a solid foundation for social science research.

Great Exposition, but Poor Notation.......2007-09-27
Great introduction to the subject, but the notation is poor. By presenting the material without matrix algebra, the multiple regression analysis becomes a convoluted mess of summation notation. Additionally, matrix notation is adopted in more advanced texts, making in beneficial to learn from the start.
A very good book.......2007-02-26
Wooldridge's explanations are clear and useful. After a semester hacking my way through the dense brush of matrices in Greene's book, I realized I needed some help. Now I go to Wooldridge's treatment first, to make sure I understand the main concepts. Then I go to Greene for the detail, if I need to.
Great for Self-studying.......2006-12-04
This books is excellent read. It builds good intuition, and is well suited for self-studying. It is also not too mathematical, no matrix notation, good for undergraduate students or as a review for graduate students. I can truly recommmend it.
Excellent for cross-sectional but needs complements for time series.......2006-12-01
As the author says, the book is "aimed at undergraduates but it is adaptable to master's students". It will provide you with excellent and extensive real life explanations. What is better about this book is that you can redo every example in the book by using the online data that it provides with. This was it is easier what happens by experimenting. In that sense this book is superior to many others where you cannot see how the results of estimations came about.
There is only one thing to take into account. Although there are three parts to this book, the shortest one is time series. Its coverage will is therefore not very comprehensive if you want basic explanations like the VAR, GARCH models etc...
In that case, I would recommend the book New Directions in Econometric Practice by Wojciech W. Charemza.
Wooldridge is best.......2005-10-03
Wooldridge is best (review refers to 2nd edition).
You don't need any other book to start intermediate econometrics or indeed econometrics at all once you know a little first-year statistics; the Amazon reviewers who prefer Gujarati or others are living in the dead past: W is better and easier and leaves very little out that G covers.
Ignore the tempting "dumbing down" implications of the publishers' advertising material whether filtered by Amazon or not; they don't need to sell the book because it's used all over the world in the best places and just walks out of the store. He dumbs down not at all or else, occasionally, very successfully.
The only possible alternative at this level (in fact well below) is Stock and Watson but they don't make you do exercises on data, which I assure you is essential fun.
Of course if you don't like exercises you can also read Peter Kennedy's Guide and philosophise. I imagine that the next step up is Greene's semi-encyclopedia or Davidson and MacKinnon's newer or older books, unless you choose to jump into the literature as W helps you to do.
All of these books just introduce Time Series too slowly and too late: try Terence Mills' several books on various aspects: he has the rare talent of simplicity AND brevity. Perhaps W's next book will be on Time Series (on which he has published).
By the way, it is easy and great fun to find inappropriate analyses in almost any econometrics book if you use a good package: David Hendry's PcGive suite etc is especially quick for this purpose: a few clicks and the graphs show the nonsense. I sometimes think that the popularity of EViews with students is precisely because inappropriate analyses are easily hidden. More expert people than me use Stata, but I don't know ....
I loved Streakieblondie's review, but I must tell her and you all that the Schaum book (I spare the author's blushes) is a stinker, useful only for getting through bad exams set by lazy lecturers, though many Schaum books in well-established areas are excellent. Both W and S&W are high-class professionals who happen to know how to write text-books, and they have all three collaborated with Nobel Prizewinners: so go for quality. Why don't the publishers' reviews and materials say this rather than implying that they've made good new stuff trivially easy? In my view W has judged it better than S&W.
If you're VERY keen, Wooldridge's other book on panel data is just terrific (but some matrices Streakieblondie, though with lots of clever help).
Book Description
The best-selling Fundamentals of Corporate Finance (FCF) is written with one strongly held principle– that corporate finance should be developed and taught in terms of a few integrated, powerful ideas. As such, there are three basic themes that are the central focus of the book: 1) An emphasis on intuition—underlying ideas are discussed in general terms and then by way of examples that illustrate in more concrete terms how a financial manager might proceed in a given situation. 2) A unified valuation approach—net present value (NPV) is treated as the basic concept underlying corporate finance. Every subject covered is firmly rooted in valuation, and care is taken to explain how particular decisions have valuation effects. 3) A managerial focus—the authors emphasize the role of the financial manager as decision maker, and they stress the need for managerial input and judgment. The Seventh Edition continues the tradition of excellence that has earned Fundamentals of Corporate Finance its status as market leader. Every chapter has been updated to provide the most current examples that reflect corporate finance in today’s world. The supplements package has also been updated and improved. From a new computerized test bank that is easier than ever to use, to new narrated PowerPoint for students, to new interactive learning modules, student and instructor support has never been stronger. There is also an optional, exciting new web-based program called “Homework Manager” that will help your students learn corporate finance by duplicating problems from each chapter in the textbook and by providing automatic grading and feedback to both students and instructors.

i only looked at the book once because the professor didnt require us to use the book for studying purposes. im sure it's a useful book, i just didnt get to use it.
Worthless.......2006-11-01
This text book has been by far the worst text book for any class I have taken in my 4 years of college. The text is laid out in such a fashion that learning in nearly impossible. Normally I would enjoy a class like this, because I enjoy solving problems that are used in real life situations. I have not found this book to help me learn The Fundamentals of Corporate Finance at all.
For everyone who has to use this book for a class I hope that your professor is able to explain what you are supposed to be learning because this book will not help at all.
Excellent text.......2006-03-24
I really enjoyed using this text book. It is clearly written and the student CD really helped me learn the material.
Excellent readibility and examples, did well in class.......2006-02-25
I purchased this book for a class where it was required, but saved $ by purchasing through amazon. I paid about $120 and see that the price has gone up in the last 2 months. This book seems long but is filled with examples of calculations and process. I found that reading the book gave me a clearer and more thorough explanation than even my teacher could give. I have learned a lot and would highly recommend this book to anyone trying to learn finance.
Good Text For Beginners.......2005-12-16
I am a non-finance major and this book helped me get through the class very well. Not only does the author explain the material in common language, but it is an easy reader. My favorite part of the book is the CD that comes with it. It has a lot of interactive ways to learn the material, from quizzes to narrative Power Points.

Windows Vista for Dummies.......2007-09-27
I had just bought a new computer with Vista as the o/s. Since I knew nothing about Vista and in the world of computers I am a dummy I immediately thought of this series "for Dummies" books.
I puchased it from Amazon and it was delivered within the week...even before the computer which I bought arrived. The book is very useful and Amazon is great.
This dummy appreciates plain talk.......2007-09-18
As with all the "Dummies" books I like the way Andy separates the wheat from the chaff by telling you up front which things you really need to know, and which things are nice to know but not necessary. He presents the information in easy to understand plain language and includes enough humor to keep it interesting. I find myself reading on screen help and then referring to "Dummies" to see what it really said.
