Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Replacement Book.......2007-03-08
My friend loaned this book to me and over time I was not able to find it. I ordered this one to replace the first one. When I got it in the mail (in excellent condition--I don't return less than what I borrow) my daughter said, "but that book is...." and she proceeded to tell me where to find my friend's book. Oh well, I now have a copy too.
Charting the End Times: A Visual Guide to Understanding Bible Prophecy (Tim Lahaye Prophecy Library Series) .......2007-01-03
This book is a modern and appreviated production of the Book od Revelation by Clarence Larken. Emphasize is put on beautiful colorful easy to read charts and simple text.
End Time Charts.......2006-11-07
Fantastic CD with charts that cover all those found in the book, Charting the End Times. Each chart can be printed out in 3 different formats. If you have a desire to understand the end times, this CD is a must!
Surprisingly Different Contribution to Eschatology..........2006-09-05
With many endtimes books on the market, several by LaHaye and Ice, I'd expected that this book would be predictable and redundant, so was surprised that its unique combination of 50 colorful charts with instructive text indeed adds to prophecy comprehension. So, for example regarding the Temple Mount, instead of merely reading a historical and discriptive narrative, there's also the following--
Chart #34-The Tabernacle, Temple and Ark in History and Prophecy includes
- Timeline with descriptions ("Conquest and Settlement," "Monarchy," "Exile," etc.)
- Above, pictures of corresponding structures (Tabernacle, 1st Temple, 2nd Temple, Dome of the Rock, etc.)
- Below, descriptions (for ex, "Ark is built by Moses and Bezalel," "2nd Temple Enlarged (Herod)")
- Way above, glowing light pictures above only the structures that God dwelt in ("Shekinah glory")
Other helpful charts are #22-"75-Day Preparation for the Millenium" (the 75-Day Interval); # 28-"The Dispensations," and #34-"Ezekiel 40-48," which included "2-D Millenial Temple" and "Division of Land During the Millenium." Both the book dimensions and the quality, glossy pages make CHARTING THE END TIMES a possible coffee table book suitable for discussion-starting or for being easily found to inform anyone left behind after the rapture. Both LaHaye and Ice are "pre-trib, pre-mil dispensationalists," which is reflected in this book, and which just means that they think the rapture will happen before ("pre") a literal Tribulation period of 7 years before ("pre") a literal Millenium of a literal 1000 year reign of Christ on Earth. For readers not into LaHaye's bestselling LEFT BEHIND fiction series, I'm not either, yet I found this book impressive.
Why continue to be deceived..........2006-06-26
Tim LaHaye, Jerry Jenkins, and others in the Pre-Trib circle, such as Ed Hindson, Tommy Ice, Chuck Missler, etc., continue to put forth the same deceptions that Hal Lindsey popularized decades ago. The notion of a pre-tribulation rapture is foreign to scripture, it is foreign to the teachings of the early Church, and it is grooming the Church for destruction through ignorance and lack of preparation for what is really coming. These men are novices and not prophecy "experts" or "scholars" by any stretch of the imagination; they are those who tickle the ears of gullible Christians. Why continue to be deceived? Tim Cohen, in his excellent book, "The AntiChrist and a Cup of Tea," provides biblically sound and testable evidence to show that the coming AntiChrist is known NOW. Not only that, the same author (Tim Cohen) has now put out the strongest presentation on the whole issue of the rapture EVER offered to the saints of God in Christ: "The REAL Rapture". If you really want to know the truth about the timing of the coming rapture, then you need to hear Tim Cohen's "The REAL Rapture" (based on a volume in his forthcoming "Messiah, History, and the Tribulation Period" series (see Prophecy House's web site, prophecyhouse dot com, for details on these items).

Bring me "either" Horizon.......2007-10-18
At Denny Magic Studios we are committed to watch the Disney Corporation closely to see what they are doing as a company in the theme park and movie business. That's why we try to purchase each and every book about Disney, what Disney has done, or what Disney will do. Because we are in the theme park design business, we cannot afford to ignore the company that started it all!
However, we were a bit disappointed in this particular book, and the primary reason was that we had recently purchased the faux leather bound "The Art of the Pirates of the Caribbean". When laid side by side, this book and the one just mentioned are basically the same book. Many of the color plates are repetitive and because we dropped a chunk of change on the faux leather version,. this is by far the better value. So our disappointment would only carry over to those of you that go ahead and by the faux leather bound book after acquiring this one. Either one by itself should satisfy most Disney fans.
A Pirate's Life for Me.......2007-10-11
As the lead animal trainer on all three of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, I found Michael Singer's account of our shared experience accurate, artistic, and exciting. So often, the perspective disseminated via the publicity machine shows an idealized view of the film making process. "Bring Me That Horizon" beautifully illuminates our journey - warts and all. I am especially appreciative of the special chapter on "Critical Critters"(pages 88 & 89). For a veteran of the "Pirates" wars, this book is like a photo album - slash - scrapbook I will cherish forever.
Excellent book for POTC fans!!!.......2007-08-04
This book is very informative and so colorful! The pictures are incredible and it's very entertaining to read the actors' comments on their characters and the trilogy. I'm very glad that I invested the money! Any POTC fan who loves to read about the back stories behind the characters and the storyline will LOVE this!!! I highly recommend this one!
Behind the scenes mith Jerry Bruckheimer from Pirates of the Caribbean.......2007-07-15
For every Pirates movie fan a must have. The Characters talking about things that happened during filming. You get to know them better by reading this, things that you never have read before in any other interview in magazines or on sites. Also very nice phatography by Jerry Bruckheimer. Pictures only published in this book. Whene you are reading this you get great respect for all those people who are working behind the scenes. Then you realise how huge the work is to build a set. You find very much information about how the movie comes to that what we see on the whitescreen. Enormous what a work is done to deliver these three movies for us to see. You read who created the final line "bring me that horizon" of the first movie.
Bring Me That Horizon: the Making of Pirates of the Caribbean.......2007-07-13
This is a great book and well worth the cost. The history of the making of all three movies is very interesting and the pictures are great. I highly recommend this book for any fan of the Pirates trilogy.
Customer Reviews:
Finally!.......2007-09-17
I'm one of the artists featured in the book. I have to say this is one book that I'm proud to have my name attached. Too often "Art of" books smack of kissing up to the producers and above the line folks. This is an "art of" book that doesn't lie. It's just a bunch of art. Period. Thanks to Jon Rogers at Disney for putting this together.
The Art of the Pirates of the Caribbean.......2007-09-16
Ever wanted to see how they came they came up with the characters, settings, and more for the hit blockbuster trilogy Pirates of the Caribbean? Then you definitely should check this one out. The book is huge and bound in a beautiful leather cover. The pictures and illustrations are no less than amazing and are definitely worth the $$$ you're going to spend. So, if you are a Pirates of the Caribbean fan or just love artwork get this now!
This is Quality.......2007-09-08
This is worth owning. The prints of the artwork are very large, as compared to other 'art of' books. I would have preferred artist liner notes though.
Art of Pirates of the Caribbean--THIS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE!.......2007-08-12
I am a big fan of "The Art of..." type books, and they are usually great fun and add to my enjoyment of the movie. "The Art of Pirates of the Caribbean", however, sets a new standard for quality in this type of book. From the faux-leather cover and binding, to the quality of the paper and the standards of the printing and color reproduction, this is the BEST book of its kind I have ever seen. Filled with fantastic art from all three movies, lavishly laid out...two page fold-out spreads; framable quality full page paintings and sketches..this book has it ALL. If you're a fan of the movies; appreciate great Pirate Art; or simply enjoy a lavishly produced movie book--BUY THIS BOOK (or as Capt. Jack would say--"Just go and steal it!")
Sketches and concept art.......2007-07-28
The Art of the Pirates of the Caribbean is a 160-page hardcover priced at a hefty $50. Although the art covers all three movies, it is mostly sketches and concept art without explanatory text or behind the scenes discussion. As such, it's good eye candy, but not much else.
This is a book you can set on the coffee table for friends to flip through. However, as a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, I was ready to devour this book and came away somewhat disappointed. The drawings are a mix of black-and-white and color of the characters, ships, scenes, and such. Some of the drawings are storyboards and there are a few fold out pages.

A Pirate lover's eye candy.......2007-08-26
I LOVE Dorling-Kindersly Books! There has never been a publisher that has produced better visual guides to just about everything than DK. So it comes as no surprise that their volume on the third Pirates of the Caribbean film is a joy to look at. You either like the movies--or you don't. BUT, if you like them, the fantastic visual world they created is one of the main draws. This DK volume does the usual wonderful job of putting together a beautifully photographed collection of some of the most striking images from the film. The only problem with the book is, I wish it were longer!
The uncompleted visual guide to Priates of the Caribbean.......2007-08-07
The book is very good, not only the content, but also the print. But it is still not a "complete" visual guide to Piates of the Caribbean, because the world map of the priates on the seven seas is not in the book, that make me very disappoint.
Tired Of Depp and Bloom.......2007-08-06
Another POTC item that focuses on Depp and Bloom (yawn). Geoffrey Rush is a fabulous actor and is not receiving credit he deserves for his excellent performance as Barbossa. Rush is one of the most talented actors who plays many different characters. He is not tied down to one type of character like Depp and Bloom often are. I would only recommend this book to a die-hard Bloom or Depp fan.
Story of Pirates of the Caribbean movies in color.......2007-07-15
Very nice storybook of the POTC trilogy. Full colored. The Characters and the ships with lots of details which every Pirate movie fan wants to know. For adults en growing up childeren. Much pictures and easy text.
Fun and useful.......2007-06-13
My kids have found this to be a great reference tool as they write stories or make their own "Pirates of the Caribbean" story tapes. The pictures are great too.

POTC POSTERBOOK.......2007-09-18
THIS IS A VERY COOL BOOK FOR THE COLLECTOR OF ANY JOHNNY DEPP PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. I PERSONALLY RECOMINED THIS AS PART OF THE COLLECTION.
Book Description
he Left Behind series of apocalyptic Christian fiction is an incredibly popular phenomenon. Since 1995, Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins have sold over fifty million copies of their books, and are consistently on the bestseller lists. What does this say about popular Christian fiction? What does it say about pop culture and religion in general? And is there any significance to the biblical references in the books? In this fascinating collection, six contributors discuss aspects of the Left Behind craze and compare the series interpretation of the Rapture and the Second Coming of Christ with the common teachings of western religions. Complete with reading group discussion questions, this is a must-have for readers of Left Behind-whether true believers or science fiction fans-who want a smart and comprehensive companion guide.
Customer Reviews:
A Balanced View.......2004-06-03
In this volume edited by Forbes and Kilde, we have six contributors who walk a fine line. On the one hand they objectively point out the main points that LaHaye and Jenkins make. On the other hand they observe where they and others differ from the perspectve and biblical interpretation of LaHaye and Jenkins. Above all, they strugle to explain the series' popularity! A wonderfully balanced treatment that anyone interested in the Left Behind series should read!

Book Description
In 1984 Sebastião Salgado began what would be a fifteen-month project of photographing the drought-stricken Sahel region of Africa in the countries of Chad, Ethiopia, Mali, and Sudan, where approximately one million people died from extreme malnutrition and related causes. Working with the humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders, Salgado documented the enormous suffering and the great dignity of the refugees. This early work became a template for his future photographic projects about other afflicted people around the world. Since then, Salgado has again and again sought to give visual voice to those millions of human beings who, because of military conflict, poverty, famine, overpopulation, pestilence, environmental degradation, and other forms of catastrophe, teeter on the edge of survival. Beautifully produced, with thoughtful supporting narratives by Orville Schell, Fred Ritchin, and Eduardo Galeano, this first U.S. edition brings some of Salgado's earliest and most important work to an American audience for the first time. Twenty years after the photographs were taken, Sahel: The End of the Road is still painfully relevant.
Born in Brazil in 1944, Sebastião Salgado studied economics in São Paulo and Paris and worked in Brazil and England. While traveling as an economist to Africa, he began photographing the people he encountered. Working entirely in a black-and-white format, Salgado highlights the larger meaning of what is happening to his subjects with an imagery that testifies to the fundamental dignity of all humanity while simultaneously protesting its violation by war, poverty, and other injustices. "The planet remains divided," Salgado explains. "The first world in a crisis of excess, the third world in a crisis of need." This disparity between the haves and the have-nots is the subtext of almost all of Salgado's work.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent book from an excellent photographer!.......2007-10-12
The book "Sahel: The End of the Road" is a rare example that shows how can a photojournalist produce excellent fine art pictures!!!
great but too real.......2007-05-13
I think Sebastiao Salgado is a great photographer. All the black and white pictures are in duotone color, which make them look very professional. Something this book has is that you can see through people and at the same time look to a picture with great composition, so you can feel the picture and at the same time admire it's appearance. I just think the pictures are too sad for me, you can see the real people suffering so much.

I was keen to obtain this book for my son, but was aware that copies were not easily obtainable. I was thrilled to locate it on Amazon and then to receive it well ahead of the estimated time frame. The condition was excellent as described, and they arrived very well packaged. Thank you
Riveting imagery.......2005-09-18
One of the most potent books on the human experience. I got a lump in my throat while viewing this collection of prints. Sebastiao Salgado is a master at using value to capture shape and texture in his subject matter.

If writing about music is like dancing about architecture, then a book about performance art is surely like a sonata about sculpture. In the case of The New World Border, however, there is little lost in translation; the force and originality of Guillermo Gómez-Peña's ideas come across loud and clear. Billed as "chicano cyber-punk art," his work revolves around the disorienting reality of living in a multilingual, multicultural society. To express the inherent confusion of colliding cultures, he creates a fictional nation called Aztlan Liberado, where various identities, races, genders, and languages all blend to create an amalgamated society. In this world, the language is Spanglish, all borders have been removed, and whites are the minority. He writes a series of news reports on this theme that turn clichés inside out and point stereotypes the other way: "In an act of random violence, two unemployed corporate executives walked into a luxurious Taco Bell Bistro and fired upon the peaceful fajita-eating customers. Today's headline in the minority paper, the New York Times, reads: 'Blood and guacamole all over walls; a macabre scene.'"
Another piece uses text and photographs to describe an act performed in Europe and the U.S. Here, Gómez-Peña places himself in a small gilded or bamboo cage in the middle of a busy plaza or shopping mall and presents himself as an "exotic multicultural specimen" who can be "activated" by shoppers who want to witness his "incredible ethnic talents." Such talents include modeling traditional Indian garb, doing commercials for organic products, and "posing in attitudes of martyrdom, despair, and poverty"--essentially behaving in any way that spectators expect their "primitives" to act--allowing Gómez-Peña to make a statement about how cultural identities are often presented as commodities.
This American Book Award-winning collection of essays, poems, performance texts, photographs, and "prophesies for the coming century" is by turns outlandish, illuminating, wickedly clever, and unabashedly serious. A frenetic artist, satirist, and phrasemaker, Gómez-Peña is able to convey the electricity and inventiveness of his live shows through heavy doses of humor, irony, and word play. Gómez-Peña's aim is to establish a common middle ground among North Americans; until a seamless North America becomes a reality, however, Gómez-Peña will continue to live on the border--and would like to see us all there. --Shawn Carkonen
