Useful tool.......2007-07-27
Although the book is printed on a faily couarse grained paper and the photographs could have had better contrast, I have found the book useful. The poses are sufficiently varied to provide a good cross-section of body movement.
Good Ordinary.......2007-04-02
I bought this book when I saw it in the art store. I like it. The poses are natural and the models, while all WASPs, are of different shapes. I liked that the women were differently shaped-- some more curvacious like J-Lo, others like a Flapper with few curves. Their breasts are differently shaped which definitely helps in learning the figure. There are only a few male models and they could have been better had there been more-- I hate to judge a body as unattractive based on the amount of hair or what-have-they, and as an artist I appreciate the differences and these could be better appreciated had there been more. There was only one pregnant woman in the pregnant section and she is perhaps seven months pregnant-- she is not at the point where she is uncomfortable-pregnant or in the earlier stages-- this book could be greatly improved if Mr. Smith had done more women in different stages of pregnancy and a greater variation of models in general. I do know that when it comes to creating a book that publishers are at the mercy of meeting certain costs with a number of pages, so they try to be useful but original and try to meet several goals. This is all right-- it won't be my favourite book on the nude body, but it's not one that I will give away, either.
Will use this often.......2007-01-13
I found many usable poses in this book. Some diversity in body types, which is nice. I could do without the hairy armpits, but thankfully we all have the creative liscense to erase that.
I left out one star because the male nudes are terrible. I think there are only 3 different male models, and I don't even want to look at them, not to mention draw them. No muscle definition, one is pot bellied, and another with a bald head and flabby body completely covered with hair...easy to render as that is (a contour, then tons of hair)I'll pass. Two thumbs down on the choice of male models.
Designed to develop familiarity with the figure .......2006-08-08
First off, let me start off by saying that this is not a how-to guide for drawing the figure. It does not attempt to teach you, and it's not designed to do so. Also, don't expect this book to have great photos that will translate into beautiful, finished pieces of art--I don't think one should expect it to be. Instead, it is choke full of full figure poses with which a student can learn the human anatomy by repeated practice of drawing different poses.
The book is what it says it is--it is merely a visual reference. This book is designed to help those who are already familiar with drawing the figure, but needs to practice the full figure at home without the help of live models at their disposal. It is not a replacement for live models, so some may deem this inadequate--but note that this is probably the best book out there of this kind. Some of the reviewers complained about the homogeneity of the models and their poses--well, not everyone is looking to expand their figure drawing prowess by drawing ethnic, overweight, or innovative poses.
Speaking from personal experience, I feel that this book is helping me to develop familiarity with the figure, ultimately resulting in speed and better gestural expression. If this isn't what you're looking for, I don't recommend this book for you. As for Sarah Simblet's book, which this book is sometimes compared to, get it if you need to be taught how to draw the figure. Otherwise, I feel that book is useless, as most of the photos are of individual body parts, rather than the full human figure. It may be used to try to gain familiarity with individual body parts, but there aren't enough photos of each part to help become familiar with any of them. It does look pretty fancy though. Very glossy. Unlike this simple and functional book for those who believe in the value of repetition.
Love it.......2005-02-23
I browsed through this book at a Barnes & Nobles a few weeks ago, and almost immediately fell in love with it. But I did have to wait to go online as it was nearly 30.00 at B&N and I knew I could get it cheaper at amazon.com, which I did for a mere 22.00 with shipping.
Before "The Nude Figure" my best reference book was "Drawing the Female Nude" by Giovanni Civardi, which featured his drawings of two models in various poses. It is a great book for the beginner, but after five years of using it I needed something new - and Playboy just wasn't working.
The Nude Figure by Mark Smith featured only photographs of various models and all kinds of different poses. All of the photographs are in black and white which is a definite plus in my mind, helping you to see the defining lines and edges. The poses are divided into chapters as follows:
Standing Poses - This chapter is full of your basic standing poses. Arms up, arms down, from the side, from the back.
Seated Poses - Seated on the ground in different positions including Indian style, which I find very hard to draw.
Reclining Poses - All kinds of laying down positions, all from different perspectives. Some look quite easy to draw and others are quite hard.
The Figure on a stool - These I find quite difficult simply because of the stools - I am not good at any kind of still life, even if it has a woman sitting on it.
Kneeling Poses - The Kneeling poses are quite useful, but some of them just look awkward and I don't see how you could use them in a work of art - but I guess there is always a way.
Bending Poses - Most of these look like stretching before a workout poses. I don't se how they could be useful in a work, but for practice everything is good.
Crouching Poses - A lot of these poses make the model look like she is ready for a race.
The Figure in motion - I am very happy with this section as I do a lot of fairies and it is full of people jumping up in the air - something you could never get a live model to hold.
The Pregnant Figure - There are only a few pages of this, and I'm glad they put in here. It's not too often that you get to see a nude pregnant woman to draw from. I think this will come in handy someday.
Unusual Poses - Just like it sounds, many of these aren't very practical, but very useful in learning how different muscles shift in different positions.
The bulk of the photo's are in Standing, Seated, and reclining poses. Those fill up most of this book.
If you are wanting to learn how to draw men, this book is not for you. In all of the chapters (excluding the pregnant figure), men are only featured on about two pages. But this is a very good thing for me, as I only draw women.
Also the people in this book are all pretty fit. There aren't any fat people in here, not a big scope of different shapes. Again, I am happy with this as I don't want to draw fat people, but other artist might be disappointed by this lack of diversity. Some of the women have hairy armpits though, and some don't - that's diverse enough for me. Plus the women may all be over-all fit, but they are all built differently.
The photo quality is OK, but not fantastic, no glossy pictures in here, in fact some are grainy. But they are all adequate, and I think they did this to keep the cost of the book down, which makes me happy, as I would not have paid 40.00 just to have more glossy pictures. They use a lot of different lighting techniques in this book, but some of them I hate only showing the outlines of the figures when I want to see muscle.
Overall I am quite happy with this book. I know it will give me plenty of ideas for years to come, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting lots of good poses to use in their art. It is the best book of poses I have found thus far. 90% of the poses are very usable, my only problem is trying to choose which one I want to try out next.

"If I don't have an erection when I'm doing a drawing, I know it's no good." Tom of Finland
Brawny hunks boasting larger-than-life muscles and skin-tight leather pants... Crotches engorged and nearly ripping apart seams
. Men upon men upon men cavorting and indulging nearly every possible fantasy... Tom's men are so hot they're off the Richter scale. Until TASCHEN published the retrospective volume on this master illustrator's work, his drawings had been relegated to the walls of gay bars and adult shops. Our first publication of this book helped Tom's influence as an artist extend far beyond the gay scene. Now this masterwork is finally being made available again, in a more compact format, for any and all to enjoy.

awesome, but use better paper.......2007-06-26
I hunted for this book when it was sold out everywhere, finally found a copy and was disappointed. The content of the book was awesome, but the pulpy paper it was printed on was a letdown. I never did buy it for that very reason.
An Absolute Must Have.......2005-08-26
This review will be very short. If you fancy the art and eroticism of "Tom of Finland", then this is the QUINTESSENTIAL collection to own. IT IS JUST PLAIN AWESOME.
SIZE MATTERS, and so does CENSORSHIP!.......2005-08-07
Now THIS is how the art of Tom of Finland SHOULD be represented...in a volume large enough for us to appreciate the great detail in his work. UNFORTUNATELY, the people at TASCHEN and the Tom of Finland Foundation found it necessary to re-release this wonderful volume in a SMALLER, cheaper version, and that trend has only gotten worse with the recent release of Tom's "COMIC COLLECTION" - which I reviewed negatively only to see that entire title WITHDRAWN from Amazon in less that 24 hours after my review appeared...so to read THAT review, you'll have to click "SEE ALL MY REVIEWS".
Isn't CENSORSHIP, especially in the Erotic Art World, a real PITY! -- Click on "SEE ALL MY REVIEWS"
Simply the best!.......2005-05-06
I have owned this book for several years now and never tire of it. Yes, it's over the top and exaggerated, but that's the fun of it. It's hot and worth every penny. Skip the mini version, and get the full-size, hardcover version - this is Tom of Finland, after all!
Without doubt the GREATEST artist of gay masculinity.......2004-02-12
When I first discovered this book in a London bookshop, I decided at once that I needed to own it. It's large, it's bulky, but it's beautiful. It needs the large pages to illustrate the finest examples of Tom's works. As an artist myself, who learnt a lot from Tom's unique techniques, I appreciate what a fantastic collection of art, both colour and black and white, has been compiled into this collection. But it's not just pictures; there's an insight into the man himself, a delightful tribute to the Master of Homoerotic Art. This volume is a great tribute to Tom and a valuable tool for the new breed of erotic artists, like myself, waiting for recognition.

heart thumping.......2007-05-08
Just happened to see this item on Amazon. Had never heard about Tom or his work. Took a chance and ordered the book.Just one word should describe it - MINDBLOWING !
Although the art and line drawings are repetitive, the way the whole story is conceptualised and brought to life in the drawings is indeed amazing.
Am a fan now and forever, have also ordered a couple of his other books.
The only reason I give a four star rating is that the Book could have been published in one volume and the size and layout could also have been slightly larger, which would have enhanced the visual appeal.
All in all a book worth keeping and prying into as and when the need "ARISES"!
GORGEOUS REPRODUCTIONS--BUT THEY'RE CROPPED!.......2006-02-22
I can't agree with most of the niggling in other reviews about this set. The images are beautifully reproduced in crystalline detail, many of them in rich duo-tones, and the binding is a beautiful black leatherette with rich-looking gold-foil lettering and line images. The small size is no drawback, either-it gives a jewel-like aura to the whole set, and while some previous collections (such as one I first purchased in the 1980s) used an 8-1/2 by 11 format, they also reproduced four panels to a page, so that the actual pictures were no larger (and considerably less well reproduced).
HOWEVER, in comparing this set with previous ones, I noticed that where the original drawings had no distinct boundaries, the pages here are circumscribed by a hairline box, which results in the images being "cropped"-that is, a small amount of the drawing on each side is cut off. In most cases the overall effect is not too damaging, but there are images of group scenes in which what had been full figures are reduced to merely a hand or a nose. Considering that this is presumably meant to be a "definitive" publication of all of Tom's cartoons, I'm amazed that the Tom of Finland Foundation would permit this sort of trimming.
That being said, I must add that overall I think they did a beautiful job, and the price is very modest for a collection of this quality.
It's NOT a quality collection.......2006-02-20
This is REALLY sub-par work. There are so many errors in the text that a corrected version is rumored to be coming, and there are more "mizsphelings" than one of Durk's emails! One recent customer review, also peppered with misspellings (so wonder who wrote THAT one, Mr. D.D.) sings the praises of this volume and suggests that because ANOTHER reviewer who panned the collection also sells it on ebay, it should not be criticized...BULL.
If the Tom of Finland Foundation is gonna make a buck on this dreadful collection, why shouldn't others! The illustrations are TINY and the text is BORING! It's VERY "old school" and irrelevant. The price is CHEAP because the collection is cheaply done and it is insulting to the artistry and memory of Tom of Finland. These illustrations are SMALLER than post cards, so unless you like to do your one-handed reading with a magnifying glass, pass this one up. It's just a mess.
Small enough to make you so much bigger.......2006-02-03
The next must-have collection of TOF if you only got the "huge and thick" book - The Art Of Pleasure.
I will save the space here for others' words but just to give you an idea how turned-on I am to get my copy... A friend would re-order it in Singapore (Kinokuniya's first 50 copies sold out in less than 2 weeks as Christmas gift alone in last December), fly out and give it to me in Bangkok so I could bring in via KLIA easily. Get the picture?
P/S: This review refers to the 5-in-1 collection in a black slipcase 3.8" x 5.5", 960 pages.
A timeless classic best buy for the buck! Buy it now!.......2005-12-30
This is a best buy and Amazon's price is most favorable when compared with other retailers. It should be noted that some of the authors of complaints about this book sold copies of it on e-bay for over $60 before Amazon got stock in. If they did not like the book, why did they sell it at competing sites? The larger versions mentioned went for $20 each story, so to purchase a collection of this size it would be well over $500 and out of the price range of most.
Now as to the content. The repros are the best I have seen in awhile and I own the 8.5" x 11" copies reffred to by most other reviewers. In addition not all the books were ever released at the so called larger size. "Beach Boys" , for example, was only slightly larger that the size of this edition. So do not be fooled by some of the other reviews. Again I know because I either own or have read originals on most of the contents. Also note that the size reflects what these books really are, namely Gay "Tiahuana Bibles" (sic). This was the term used to refer to straight material of the same nature in the early part of the last century. As such the size is that of the average "bible". In fact in many cases it is somewhat larger.
The Media is an excellent choice, soft pliable, thread reinforced, spine which will not wear easily desipte the heavy reading these books will get. The paper is gloss stock heavy bond which also shoul wear well. The covers or synthetic, so they will not stain easily or tear.
All in all better stock than the originals and highly doubtful that you will see a better edition any time soon.
A side note, if this material is of interest to you buy it now. Print runs on this stuff tend to be rather low and 2nd editions tend to be rare. If you want it buy it or risk paying 10x more in a year on ebay.

Book Description
A collection of 1950s & 1960s pin-up art spotlighting the inimitable creator of Torchy.
The Pin-Up Art of Bill Ward continues Fantagraphics' dedication to showcasing the best of the classic pin-up artists. Culling through thousands of images, editor Alex Chun has selected the best of Ward's Conte crayon pin-ups, including many of his infamous telephone girls, many of which have not seen print in almost half a century.
When Ward passed away in 1998, he left behind a body of work that spanned six decades and by all accounts, more than 10,000 pin-up cartoon illustrations. Though he is best known for creating comics' Golden Age blonde bombshell Torchy in the 1940s, Ward's strongest work was produced in the late 1950s and early 1960s for the Humorama line of digest magazines.
In those countless cheap and long forgotten men's humor magazines, Ward's voluptuous "girly" drawings shared the pages with photos of Bettie Page and Mamie Van Doren, and pin-up cartoons by the likes of Archie's Dan DeCarlo and Playboy magazine's Jack Cole.
Thumbing through those digests, it quickly becomes evident that Ward was Humorama's dominant pin-up cartoon artist. His mastery of the Conte crayon allowed him to produce unparalleled textures, including the wonderful sheen on satiny curve-hugging dresses and on black thigh-high stockings that became Ward trademarks.
Ward's other trademark, of course, was his penchant for drawing extremely well endowed women accentuated by tiny waists, and whether playing the role of office secretaries, arm candy at cocktail parties or vamping it up in a boudoir, his women played to multiple fetishes adorned in opera-length gloves, lacy lingerie, and five-inch stiletto heals. Sometimes bawdy, but never tawdry, Ward's top-heavy Humorama women always managed to maintain their allure, innocence and glamour that made Torchy so popular.
The Pin-Up Art of Bill Ward is presented in the same attractive sotfcover format as The Pin-Up Art of Dan DeCarlo and The Pin-Up Art of Bill Wenzel.
Customer Reviews:
Same editor, same classic girlie art, but different selection.......2007-08-12
For those who can't get ahold of the hardcover, now-sold-out _The Glamour Girls of Bill Ward_ (also edited by Alex Chun) or who can't afford the huge _The Wonderful World of Bill Ward_ (published by Taschen), this is a cheap, readily available alternative with enough of Ward's classic glamour girls to satisfy all but the most hard-core, completist fan of Ward's work. The book is published in trade-paperback format, so the illustration reproductions are not as big as in the other two books, but the quality is quite satisfactory.
As he did in _Glamour Girls_, Chun has chosen to focus on the art that Ward is most famous for, and the art that Ward himself loved the best; the voluptuous, elegantly dressed, Ekbergesque (as in Anita Ekberg, one of the inspirational models for Ward's beauties) lovelies that populated the pages of so many men's magazines in the 1950's and 1960's - and not the raunchier work that he did in his later years, much of which he did strictly for the fee. These classic cartoons, by contrast, were done as much for love as for money, and it shows; there's an elegant lushness in them that doesn't show up in his later X-rated work. The selection includes a healthy number of Ward's (in)famous "telephone girls". While some of the cartoons and drawings chosen for this book are the same as in _Glamour Girls_, many of them are new to book publication; thus, if you really love Ward's girls, you'll want to get all three of the books that are currently in print. Definitely a "must have" for fans of pinup art.
STILL HOT AND HUMOROUS AFTER FIFTY YEARS.......2007-04-16
If you're a baby-boomer or older, chances are you've seen Bill Ward's art, even if you didn't necessarily know the name. Ward was one of the premiere and pioneering artists of what came to be known as Good Girl Art in the 40's and 50's. Good Girl Art refers to those comics depicting attractive women in various stages of undress or, quite often, in some form of bondage. These covers were quite popular in both pulp magazines and comic books of the era and are highly prized among collectors today.
Ward's most famous creation was "Torchy" Todd, the sexy blonde bombshell who made her first appearance in the mid-1940's. Torchy's run in comics was cut short by the crusade against sex and violence in comics in the 1950's. Leaving comics, Ward moved on to work for editor Abe Goodman's Humorama line of magazines that included titles such as Gee-Whiz, Romp, Snappy, Laugh Riot, and more. There he began his prolific run of sexy one-page cartoons featuring his stunning Good Girl Art.
The Pin-up Art of Bill Ward from Fantagraphics packs 260 pages of these classic one panel pin-up cartoons into the book. The Ward female of these cartoons is classic 1950's pin-up: large breasts, thin waist, wide hips, and a round bottom. The classic hourglass figure complete with the pouty lips and eyes that can make any man melt. These women are bawdy and busty and make no apologies for utilizing their physical assets. Fetishists will love Ward's hilarious series of spanking cartoons, which are often girl-on-girl. In one, an angry boss with a black eye is spanking his secretary and telling her, "This will teach you to let my wife catch you sitting on my lap!" In another, a bank President is showing his gorgeous blonde customer what the penalty is at his bank for overdrawing her account.
Among the other cartoons in the book is Ward's series of telephone girl gags. These generally feature one of his gorgeous models lying on a bed or sofa in a negligee or other type of lingerie, talking on the phone. There's also a fair share of Ward's burlesque stripper cartoons. In one, two men are ogling a dancer clad only in panties and pasties. One exclaims, "This is one thing television will never replace!"
Wardss pin-ups are truly the 50'sand 60's American male view of the perfect female. These classic cartoons and drawings have lost none of their humor even after some fifty years.

Gorgeous art, as always.......2007-03-21
Typical for a Bill Ward book, this contains a terrific representation of his gorgeous pinup work. The main drawback of this volume is the rather small size, but the great selection of artwork mostly makes up for that. Recommended for any fan of Ward or pinup art.
Dangerous curves ahead.......2007-03-01
Now that Alex Chun's first book on Bill Ward is sold out Fantagraphics have wisely decided there is a market for a cheaper edition. This is not a straight reprint of the original, 'The Glamour Girls of Bill Ward' (ISBN 1560975318) which was a large size portfolio edition, beautifully printed. This current title is much smaller with an edited intro from the original but what looks like a different selection of art. Still good value if you like Bill's art.
Considering that he can only really be considered on the fringes of quality girly art it is amazing that three books of his output have been published in the last three years. Ward claims to have drawn thousands of pin-ups over the years so I expect there will be more titles in the future.
The two from Fantagraphics are good but Eric Kroll's The Wonderful World of Bill Ward, King of the Glamour Girls (Various)with its chunky size, comprehensive illustrated biography and hundreds of pin-ups must really be the last word on Ward.
Book Description
The classic American comic strip is known for being wholesome family entertainment, accesible to everyone. But these artists, including Sidd (B.C.) Hoff and Mort (Beetle Bailey) Walker, also had a mischievous side they only shared with peers and friends. Customer Reviews:
THE DARK WORKS OF JOSE DEL NIDO.......2005-08-29
I have to admit to being unaware of the talents of Jose Del Nido until I saw this book which just blew me away. Del Nido is unique among fantasy/erotic artists in that he works digitally, using various software programs to create his illustrations. As explained in the introduction, this allows Jose to simulate various styles of painting such as oils, acrylics, and air-brushing, combined with the digital ability to fashion stunning uses of lighting, color, shading, and reflection. The result is some of the most darkly beautiful artwork I've ever experienced. Del Nido's women convey a sense of erotic danger, even from those who find themselves captive to dark forces. This is an over-sized, soft cover book printed on heavy, glossy stock that collectors will certainly appreciate. As with the other fine art collections from SQP, the back of the book has an index to each of the paintings that provide the title of the piece and the medium in which it was created.
The pieces in this collection range from females captured and at the mercy of bestial creatures and demons, to powerful, domineering women whose seductiveness is only overshadowed by her power. In "Winged Devil", a lovely nude woman is chained as a great winged demon hovers behind her; her supple white skin a contrast to the foreboding gloom of the background. "Anxiety" is a haunting illustration as a blonde woman is bound, her eyes tightly closed as she awaits her fate as a sacrifice to a dragon. An enticing Enchantress is mounted upon a giant rat in "Sewers" as she traverses the dank underground tunnels of some long-forgotten city.
The power of Del Nido's women is on display in "Fight to the Death" as a female gladiator stands over the fallen form of giant beast while the crowd in the gladiatorial arena roars its approval. In a piece brimming with gothic mood, a winged, female vampire stands poised atop a castle's walls while several large bats fly against the full moon. Another female vampire is the subject of "Wishing Well", this time a red-haired beauty with an evil grin and blood trickling down her chin and breasts. "Offering" evokes a horrific sense of evil as a woman is bound by chains to a pillar while a group of hooded cultists encircle her. One can only imagine the dreadful fate that awaits her.
Perhaps my favorite piece in the book (Although it's impossible to pick a favorite) may be one entitled "Lucifer's Wives". The Dark Lord Lucifer stands atop an alter, a bubbling vat of blood in front of him while his two blond vampire brides lie seductively on the ground before them. The dark imagery of this illustration is truly magnificent. You'll find yourself looking at these pieces over and over as you marvel at the skill and imagination that Del Nido possesses. While the digital format gives him the ability to do things you may not be able to do with conventional painting, he is first and foremost, a very gifted artist.

NOT PHOTOGRAPHS, THESE ARE DRAWINGS!.......2003-10-10
This 1992 book is an updated and revised edition of a 1982 book of Mr. Leonard's drawings titled CHANGES: 50 DRAWINGS By MICHAEL LEONARD. Its revision consists of a new artist's note, the replacement of 10 drawings from the original edition with 10 drawings from years 1986 through 1992 and a larger format. To my eye the reproductions here appear washed out and underexsposed (no pun intended), losing much of the subtly found in Leonard's drawings. The reproductions are larger than in the previous edition but their impact is weaker, because much of these drawings' power and beauty lie in their nuanced values and atmospheric feeling.Still, since it's the only volume on Mr. Leonard's drawings currently available I DO recommend it.Mr. Leonard crops and positions his figures in such a way as to create a strong dynamism within the frame of his drawings. It's surprising how many compositional variations Leonard can create from the simple subject of men undressing. His modelling and edge control are superb. Even though the images come from photographic sources, they have been modified and rendered with such skill as to convincingly inhabit their space. I would have given this book four stars if not for the disappointing reproductions. I also would have liked to seen some of Mr. Leonard's female nudes (Yes, he's done those too!) in this volume. I know that the publisher specializes in books geared to the gay sensibility, but surely a female nude won't frighten off any art lover who happens to be gay!?!I think it's about time for a new book of Michael Leonard's art covering the past 11 years. It's a pity that such a talent should be ignored.
The art is beautiful but the book is short on inspiration.......2001-10-20
Perhaps it is the "let's get it all in here" mentality of this book of Michael Leonard's drawings that diminishes the overall impact of what could be an elegant homage to a fine artist. Or perhaps it is the scale of reproductions and quality of transfer that makes this inherently tender book seem sterile. But past these deficiencies there is much to savour. Leonard draws beautifully, celebrating the male form in his own vision of honesty of observation that leads to sensually satisfying images. He has been drawing and painting the male figure for years now and few can match his softly lighted men changing and stretching. Others in his class include Wade Reynolds, Paul Cadmus, Charles Beauchamp and Claudio Bravo - each with his signature style making it patently obvious that the time to return to the male nude has finally arrived.

Product Description
Is there anything more fun than naughty young ladies dressed for extreme excess? One of the MOST popular subjects of the Gallery Girls line is back with all new kinky delights! Leather & Lace Volume 4 contains that sweet yet spicy mix of good girls being so very bad, with such artists as Arantza, Pelaez, Giorello, Cuevas, Colucci, and so many more just aching to get in line and show off their best works!
Customer Reviews:
Nice but short........2006-09-03
Leather & Lace 4 is a small collection of drawings dealing with women, or sometimes just a single woman, in interesting fantasy, erotic or pinup poses. While some, like the artwork of Arantza are truly lovely and the works of Pedro Cuevas and Mitch Byrd showed imagination, most are just straight forward nudes and even seem a tad lifeless and bland. Also I noticed that one drawing by Pelaez was even repeated later in the book. Maybe the earlier books used up all the good ideas? I may have to buy them and find out. But I suggest you get this one used.
SIZZLING HOT BONDAGE ART!.......2005-12-09
Leather & Lace Volume 4 is a fantastic entry in the ever popular Gallery Girls collections from SQP. This rather over fetish book's theme is, as the title says, all about sexy leather and lace, but bondage is an equal member of the trio as nearly every piece in the book is a woman on woman bondage illustration and some of the sexiest work ever to come from SQP. The front cover is courtesy of Pelaez who gets things off to a rolling start. Girl on girl fetishes, cat fights, breast fights...it's all within the pages of one of the hottest Gallery Girl editions ever.
Pelaez, always one of my favorites provides a piece showing a blonde bound by her hands to a headboard as a leather clad dominatrix stands nearby armed with a cat-o-nine tails. Colucci's bound prisoner is also blonde and being spanked on the rear end with a riding crop by her mistress. The men in the bar of a drawing by Pedro Cuevas are looking very delighted and amused as two topless women battle it out, breasts first in this great piece.
Marcelo Sosa provides one of the standout pieces in the book as a woman in garter and nylons digs her spiked heels into the back of her subservient slave who is on her knees. Arantza gives us the best of both worlds with a blonde in lace and a brunette in leather, having suggestive fun with a water hose. Isaac Del Rivero offers another stunningly hot dominatrix in thigh high leather boots and whip leading two nude women about by a leash. Later, Del Rivero provides the most graphic fetish piece as his subject is bound and suspended in mid-air as her mistress playfully licks her helpless toes. Pelaez has an entire series of drawings with another on-going cat fight, or more accurately, a breast duel between two buxom babes.
Dani Saurez ends the book on a high note with a beautifully painted back cover. An absolute must have for bondage or fetish fans and a sizzling hot edition of Gallery Girls.

Book Description
A hot new talent from Europe, Gennadiy Koufay has a fascination with the female form! His love of the curves and swerves of a woman's body is abundantly clear in every painting he produces. The heat generated from every canvas is palpable, which is why this first volume of his work is subtitled "Heatwave."
Customer Reviews:
A TALENT FROM EASTERN EUROPE!.......2005-09-23
Gennadiy Koufay is a relative newcomer to the realm of pin-up/erotic art but in a short time the native of the Ukraine has quickly established himself as one of the best in the filed. SQP presents the first collection of work from this talented artist who came to New York in 1995. Looking at Koufay's work it's obvious that he's influenced or at least studied the pin-up art of the 1940's. Like those great masters, Koufay focuses the entire attention of his painting on his subjects, leaving the backgrounds completely open.
Some of the subjects of this collection include blonde bombshells Pam Anderson and Victoria Silverstedt as well as the legendary Bettie Page. Anderson takes the spotlight in a painting simply titled, "Pamela" as she models on a bed in a white teddy. Pam also appears on the back cover in a piece called "Apple", as a topless Pam is wrapped up in the American Flag, eating an apple as the ultimate female temptress.
Bettie Page is the subject of a number of pieces in the book. My favorite has her dressed in a lavender Playboy bunny outfit. The Gorgeous Silverstedt also is the subject of several of Koufay's paintings. "Village Girl" shows off her ample assets while she is wearing lace panties and a cowboy hat. Another dazzling piece has Silverstedt posing in a revealing blue sun dress, holding a daisy. Note the brilliant blue eyes!
A classic 1940's style pinup gets a two page, centerfold type spread as an alluring nude woman lies on her stomach with her backside arched in the air. A piece called Pinup #44 is yet another of Koufay's takes on classic pin-up art with an alluring red head dressed in sheer black nylons and lace bra.
What strikes you about Koufay's art is that he really "gets" the look of classic pinup art while still adding his own seductive style to each piece. I look forward to seeing more from him in the future. The book is 48 pages featuring both black & white and full color art.

Tom Poulton the lost drawings.......2006-11-10
While this wasn't quite what I expected, Tom Poultons drawing style is unusual, but realistic - and very raunchy!
i enjoyed the book and would recommend it. It contains a portfolio of erotic drawings, followed by a written stroy illustrated with his drawings. Very raunchy and picking up many favourite fantasies.
