Good Info but..........2007-05-12

It takes FOREVER to get to the point and many times there is repitition over the instruction. Sometimes in the same paragraph! A good book that gives information yes, but it could easily have been cut to a third the size.

I bought this book last month due to some good feedbacks. But when I read, it seems the book is too much unnecessary words just to make it look thick but the actual content is thin. I would recommend to learn from the help section of the flash program itself. It's much more clear and right to the point not like this book. From there then google up and you will find a lot of more better tutorials than this book and best of all, it's free!

As for the book, I just got it. I am in Hour 2 and so far, it has helped me soooo much. I am new to Flash and I think this will be a great book for all the people who are new like me. I gave it a 4 stars rather than 5 since I haven't finished the book yet and can't comment on the whole book. But base on the first 2 hrs, I think once I am done with the book, my rating would be a 5 star.

u cannot finish this on 24 hours. I have Flash background but I finished "chapter 5" in 13 hours, which was supposed to finish in 5 hours. Sooooooo many text and difficult for ESL students. Not step by step and not too many graphic. No CD or resource files to do tutorials.

I recommend Flash 8 24hours...I believe it will take more than 24 hours to get through the book. But it is a good buy and I found it helpful in understanding flash.

For beginners with spare time.......2007-08-15

The writers have spent hours and months writting this book and it is hard not to admire their determination, but the result is unbalanced. The book does bring some hard facts and useful behaviours but enough to make a brochure not a full book. The first half of the book talks generalities and concepts about the web, about marketing and search engine behaviour but every time it is becoming really interesting the writers say "we'll see that point in chapter XX". It is a good trick to keep readers of thrillers on the edge, but I found it annoying and time wasting. Eventually the book gets into stats and practical actions but it feels too little too late. Most of the "do to" lists at the end of each chapter are more summaries than action points. If you are starting from scratch and have time, this book will teach you usefull things and fill your time.

Best Book Ever- really!.......2007-08-14

I've dabbled in SEO over the years mainly as an account rep (punching bag) for ad agencies. Caught in the middle of the client and the creative/techs that play each other off one another. This book really opened my eyes about how to build a SEO team with the PR, Marketing and IT dudes. And, I finally get it. You HAVE to document your SEO work for the accounting folks. There is SO MUCH junk out there and vendors promising you better SEO for $$$. In one way, I can't believe these wonderful ladies are actually sharing this "school of hard knocks" info. And, the injection of bits of humor make it such a wonderful read. They prove their thesis that SEO is really an on-going process. And, they provide the step-by-step (truely an hour a day) with downloadable FORMS to document and faciliate the journey. I've checked out a lot of SEO related stuff over the years either in books or on the web, and, nothing compares to this 300 page book. For me, and, I'm really not a techi dude (I'm in sales "a people person") --- I just want a smok'n site to get more leads --- but, this book was actually fun to read. And, understand! There wasn't a page I read that I said "huh?" Don't get me wrong, Jennifer & Gradiva know there stuff. I'm sure they could talk over my head in a heart beat. But- you know- that's the REAL sign of a professional (like a doctor with "good bedside manners" that can explain and organize things so that they can be understood. I'm looking forward to future books. - not that this book was incomplete. I read a ton of books, and, these authors have a talent. Thank you for sharing your it with us ladies!

Not Just for Merton Lovers.......2007-09-14

This is a marvelous collection of writings from the works of Thomas Merton, the Trappist Monk, assembled in the form of a book of hours. Even if you are not particularly knowledgable about Merton's writings, you will find his comments on so many aspects of the spiritual life meaningful and tantalizing, you will want to study his works further. The author does include an index that gives the source of each selection included for the particular time and day of the week. Although he lived from 1915 - 1968, you will feel he is writing for right now. Included are writings for Dawn, Day, Dusk and Dark on each day of the week. You might think that only seven days would not be enough to keep you interested. But, as with much of Holy Scripture, something new and fresh appears with repetition. The author includes an informed introduction to her selections for Thomas Merton: A Book of Hours.

A fantastic Book of Hours from the writings of Thomas Merton, which includes passages from his poetry and other writings not encountered by those who have read his journals or his most popular books. This was a new side of Merton for me, and I found it to be wonderful. The prayers and readings in this book reflect new areas of encounter with God that I had not experienced in his writing before. Highly recommended!

Many of us get so busy each day that when we try to pray or meditate, the world crowds in on us. This book is simply a guide to meditation and prayer and has been a Godsend to me.

A Great Book for a Great Practice.......2007-06-09

Merton's book is a though-and-Spririt-provoking guide for a week of prayers and meditations on the daily hours - dawn, day, dusk, dark. I especially appreciated the thoughtful and helpful Introduction, orienting the the reader to Mertin and the practice of praying the stations. Sad to say, this is a practice that has largely left the protestant world -- to our diminishment, I believe.

I recommend the practice and this book as an inspiring guide to developing a richer prayer life and a closer relationship with God.

This was an easy book to pick up and read plus also pick up and understand. I basically tought myself Dreamweaver. The program without the book I would be impossible to learn. Of important note: The back of the book states that its a BEGINNER level book. This means that if you're an experienced web designer looking for DREAMWEAVER'S missing manual to guide you through its more advanced features, the book will be a disappointement. On the other hand, if you're new to DREAMWEAVER, CSS as well as the quirks of how to lay out a web page using the program on a very basic level, the book is definitely a painless and user friendly read. Betsy Bruce's writing style is very nice... flows nicely, easy to follow and will head you off in the write direction. Then, after that you can deal with the NO printed manual problem (grrrrrrrrrr...)

Betsy Bruce's writing is clear and easily digestible. She gives enough explanation with some background information where applicable without meandering through unnecessary or confusing information. Where beneficial to understanding the use of a Dreamweaver feature or capability, she gives examples of how she uses that feature or capability in her own work.

Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 in 24 Hours is an excellent aid for the new Dreamweaver user who has a need to hit the ground running. Those who have used Dreamweaver MX or Dreamweaver MX 2004 or are a new Dreamweaver 8 user who can afford a more leisurely pace may be better off taking a look at the
previously mentioned Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 Unleashed.

Everyone Should Read.......2007-10-04

I am so sorry that I did not read this book 5 years ago. It explained why my mom behaves the way that she does. I think that everyone needs to read this because there is not a person alive that does not or will not love someone who has dementia or Alzheimers. It gives medical information that is easy to understand as well as ways to best deal with their loved one. It reassures the caregiver that they need to take care of themselves and it helps them to realize that thier loved one still loves them but is sometimes unable to show it in acceptable ways.

An absolute must for caregivers.......2007-07-27

For those of us who are caregivers, this book is a lifesaver. Before reading this book I was certain that many of the behaviors that my family member exhibits were unique to her. While I often read about Alzheimer's, I never read anything that made me stop and realize that, first, I am not alone, and second, that there are ways that I can handle situations better. This book is full of great suggestions on how to deal with the many behavioral issues that are exhibited by those with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Whenever I have an especially difficult day, I go online to the Alzheimer's page and remind myself how difficult it is for my family member. This book drove home that message, yet more importantly provided me with some tools on how to deal with these issues. I cannot stress enough how much I thought our situation and the behaviors were unique; it is liberating to realize that they are not. As well, understanding why the person exhibits such behaviors makes it much easier to respond correctly.

I wish I could thank the authors personally for this book. I hope they both know that their wisdom, concern and awareness of the Alzheimer patient has made a difference for me, and I am certain has made a difference for many others.

Caregivers -- buy this book, you will find some stress greatly diminished.

I can not stress enough just how helpful and informative this book is. My Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease 6 years ago. In those 6 years we have seen numerous doctors, taken numerous tests, spoke to many Social Workers, Home Health Aides, etc. NO ONE gave me the advice, information, suggestions, help, etc., anywhere near as well and thorough as "The 36 Hour Day".
I think so highly of this book and recommend it so much; that just last week, I had a meeting with the Director of Nursing, Head Nurse, and Social Worker at the nursing home where my Dad resides. I highly recommended this book and told the Dir. Of Nursing, it should be mandatory reading for anyone working in the facility.
If you have a loved one or are a care taker of someone with Alzheimer Disease---RUN do not walk, to your nearest bookstore and pick up a copy of this book.

Great overall reference.......2007-08-15

I am on a project team that is starting the implementation of a specialized SAP module, and I purchased Mr. Anderson's book to help me get a high-level overview of the overall SAP application. I am a relatively new SAP user, and this book was extremely valuable in helping me ascend the learning curve and get up-to-speed on this project. I can now have intelligent conversation with our technical staff, ask knowledgeable questions, and generally understand their answers.

My suggestions at this point would be to include a general glossary and an acronym glossary. I would also recommend, in addition to the "Watch out" and "By the way" boxes, another information source titled, "For further information on this topic".

Given that an overall reference for SAP could easily be the size of a set of encyclopedias, I would give this single book 5 stars out of 5.

A little bit here and there.......2007-07-26

Although many good points are made in this easy to read book, it clearly suffers from a lack of target audience definition. As a theoretical intro to the field, one doesn't need to know how to customize a screen in SAP. As an intro user's guide, one doesn't need to know many of the more technical topics briefly discussed. Since there isn't enough coverage for any one audience, I can't recommend this book.

Not really worth the purchase.......2007-03-16

This book is not intended for technical users. It provides a very high level guide for day to day users. Chapters 1-3 are worth reading to get a broad overview of SAP.
After those three chapters, the book suffers from trying to cover just a tiny bit of everything in SAP. The authors dont want to leave anything out, but at the same time they don't cover anything in great detail.
At your company, you will probably need to learn certain components and transaction in SAP, but surely not everything.
I recommend reading the first 3 chapters, and then the single chapter on the area of SAP in which you will be working. Reading much more than that will probably be a waste of time. I doubt you will ever use it as a reference and that is why I do not recommend purchasing it. It might be available at your local library.
To its credit, the book is well written. The pictures are in black and white, but are still useful. Learning how to use SAP, however, is best done in front the computer with a teacher at your side. I learned much more in a half-hour session with a seasoned user than I did by reading several chapters of this book.

Good but not Great..........2006-12-29

I was looking for a book that would provide a beginners introduction to SAP. Well this book did fulfill my needs to a great extent. This book is probably the most up to date introductory book on SAP. It also provides a good concise history, purpose, and value for each of the SAP modules. However the book fails to show how various modules link to each other. It also fails to explain why there are so many modules. I did find answers to all these questions but that was with the help of other books.

This book will set you in right direction but don't expect it to answer all your questions. It seriously needs some good technical diagrams. Diagrams in the book are of no value.

I had just tackle a 1500 page novel and moved on to this book. I was not disappointed I wanted something lighter and that's what I got. This is a good story and easy read and kept my attention. I will probally buy more of this series.

A fun twist on the urban fantasy plotlines - Kitty is a werewolf and has a radio call-in show - very fun. She also inadvertantly is drawn into a murder mystery along the way, and that mystery
is well-done and satisfying to read.

If you like urban fantasy novels featuring strong women Anita Blake(Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Book 1)), Mercy Thompson (Moon Called (Mercy Thompson Series, Book 1)) or Rachel Morgan Dead Witch Walking, The Good the Bad and the Undead, Every Which Way but Dead, A Fistful of Charms and Undead in the Garden of Good and Evil in Dates from Hell (5 books, as a set) (The Complete Rachel Morgan Series) this book may NOT be for you.

Kitty is portrayed in this first novel as newly wered, and controlled by her alpha, which also includes his perrogative as such of essentially getting to rape her whenever he feels like it. And she takes it. She also hates him, but talks about how she used to love him because he was the alpha and "protected her" - ick ick ick. And how did she become a were in the first place? You guessed it - raped by a frat guy while on a date and then dumped in the middle of the woods where she is attacked by a werewolf. The whole book is like this, and when I read it, I just thought "Pathetic and annoying."

The book ends with the bad guys essentially winning, and her getting no revenge because she is weak and insecure.

I've started the second book in this series, in the hopes that kitty will grow a set of fangs and stop being everyone's victim. Will update with a review on that to see if this series can redeem itself.

A Great start for a newcomer to the Paranormal Genre, not too graphic, not too silly.......2007-05-03

I'm somewhat new to the paranormal genre (having been introduced to it by Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire SeriesAll Together Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Bk. 7)) and for me this was a perfect blend of romance, suspense, mysticism, and humor. I've enjoyed meeting Kitty and by the end of the book, you understand the fine line between human and wolf that she treads everyday. She is pulled by the freedom of running with the wolves and the support/protection she receives from the pack, but at the same time she still has her human ties such as friends, family, and a career.
This is a great series for us newbies, not too graphic, not too sexual (not that I don't love a good love scene, it shouldn't consume the storyline), and definitely not too silly. I really tried to get into MaryJanice Davidson's Undead series but fond them much too goofy, but definitly lighter than LK Hamilton or Anita Blake.
I recommend to anyone wanting to check out Paranormal for the first time

I recommend this meditation CD highly. I find it difficult to meditate on my own, as my mind tends to wander. This wonderful CD helps me get into a state of deep relaxation, and lives up to its title, Your Present: A Half Hour of Peace. Susie Mantell has a calming voice and presence , and I always feel better after putting on her CD, laying in my hammock, and relaxing for 30 minutes. It also embodies aspects of positive thinking, which I found to be an added bonus. Although this CD is not religion-based,it helps me get in touch with my Higher Power. All in all, a great product.

this was a very good book. i like all of the suspense and excitment in the story. i don't like what happens to Stonefur, but i like the end and how everything turns out. i don't want the original series to end. It will be hard to see Fireheart as the leader, and not having him be the main character. the next book that is abuot him is firestar's quest, which comes after the new prophecy #6. I am reading book #2 in the new prophecy. i can tell you that all of the warrios books are good

The dark book.......2007-08-26

This book was, as the title implies, a darker read. It was sad and at times hard to read but it was still a good page turner and I really liked it though at times it was hard to see my favorite characters in such bad situations. But that is perhaps the charm of the book. There is no skimping on the bad things that can happen in life, but somehow things always do work out in the end and perhaps I read this one faster than usual so I could get the characters to a better place in their lives. A great finish to a wonderful first series.

I really enjoyed this series........2007-06-05

I think warrior cats is a very good series. Most of it is not predictable until the very end, but it is still good. It is about a house cat called Rusty who journeys into the forest and joins ThunderClan, to help them survive. In the end he becomes clan leader with the name Firestar. I also think it has brilliant description. I recommend this series to people who like fighting and cats!

Great, Surprising, and Suspencefull.......2007-06-04

In this book of Hunter's amazing series, Warriors, Fireheart becomes Firestar after Bluestar's death. He learns of a dangerous Clan outside of the four Clan's that rule the forest. It could mean the distruction of all the Clans or it could mean another treachery of Tigerclaw's. Or both.
