Good stuff, But . . ........2007-02-13
This is a good collection, I just wish the images came in vector format. They are all in photoshop Tiff format.
Check contents, not just title!.......2006-06-21
This is a terrific clip art book however, Dover has sold this exact same book under the title, "Printer's Ornaments and Dingbats." So if you already own that book, safe yourself the money and don't buy this duplicate under a different title. What a bummer!!!
An excellent design reference book.......2003-11-17
A wonderful and wide range of designs great for motifs and decorative design development. Don't miss it!

beautiful images which print very well.......2007-02-19
This book includes a selection of black & white picture frames in both narrow and wide styles. The narrow ones have turned out to be very useful for innermost frames of pictures and other images, then surrounded by color frames. I've even used the black & white picture images for hand-coloring. But the color images in this book are magnificent, and they print exactly as well as one would hope. This dover collection is a credit to them.
Book Description
More than 200 authentic Celtic motifs, ideal for myriad uses, include elaborate spirals and weaves, exotic birds, horned beasts, mermaids, and other fanciful creatures. This outstanding collection of distinctive designs features a rich and diverse variety of patterns, which can be used as borders or individually.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent source for ideas.......2007-10-05
This is an excellent source of design ideas. I have recently started working in polymer clay and hope to start also with metal clay, so I was casting about for ideas and came across this book and CD of Celtic art motifs.
I am very fond of the basic knotted designs of the Halstadt culture which tends to be very curvilinear geometric, and over half of the designs in this book are Halstadt in style (as opposed to the later La Tène period with designs that incorporate stylized animals into the Celtic knot motif. For those who prefer the latter, check Celtic Designs in the same collection.)
The CD was easily installed on my computer, easy to open and navigate. It took me a little time to refamiliarize myself with the clip art style. I haven't used it since it came on floppy disks! This was very much easier to do.
Celtic Design Cd - excellent buy!.......2007-07-09
This was a great purchase for me. I have really enjoyed creating with the designs. There are many variations to choose from and I have used it a lot!
Great for design.......2007-04-03
I needed to get this book for some wedding designs I was making up. The pictures are great there are lots of different designs and they have them in all different file formats. Perfect for Graphic Design.
Celtic designs.......2007-01-04
No need for a scanner with the cd-rom. I use these for scrollsawing patterns.
Honestly represented and fairly priced.

Not spectacular.......2007-07-12
It's okay, but nothing to write home about and not much that isn't out in the public already.

Exactly what I was looking for.......2007-01-09
This is a great resource. I'm a graphic designer and have been looking for full color illustrations of flowers and fruit like this for a while. Lots of online stock photo/illustration sites sell similar artwork for anywhere from $75-250 each. Here you get a large variety for under $20.
Flowers & Fruits.......2005-09-12
This is an excellent printing of just what I needed. I use these images for decoupage and they are great!

Good Travel Posters.......2007-01-12
I wanted to do a decorating project and needed some Hotel and Travel Stickers. This was an excellent resource for completing my project. It is too bad Hotels and Railways no longer do this.

Customer Reviews:
Good images, but incomplete.......2007-04-28
The images are interesting and high quality, and come in a variety of designs, but if you want a whole set of antique playing cards, this is not the place to go. There isn't even a full set of face cards.
pretty good selection.......2006-11-06
Not a bad selection, haven't used the images yet but I'm sure I will at some stage.

Customer Reviews:
Same content as Ready-to-Use Calligraphic Ornaments By Takahashi (Dover).......2006-02-17
Buyers shoud be aware that this book has the same content as an earlier Dover book,Ready-to-Use Calligraphic Ornaments by Kiyoshi Takahashi. This is better becuase it comes with a CD, but it is the same collection of images.
The .eps format dissapointed me...like other reviewers, I was hoping vor vector based images. I did have good results with Illustrator CS2's live trace tool. I turned the images into plain linework, then added the thick/thin look of calligraphy by applying Illustrator's calligraphic brushes. A bit if work, but the results are nice.
No Vector But Great When Converted.......2004-12-15
I must say I am glad that I read the other reviews so that I was prepared when I purchased this item. It is a bit misleading that the CD contains files in EPS format because they act just like a placed image in Illustrator. HOWEVER, with a program like Adobe Streamline, the images are absolutely GORGEOUS. I highly recommend this item along with Streamline. In the end, the quality workmanship of a Dover book is found in this product.
No Vector..........2004-06-06
When i first saw this book, i was very excited because it said that i had .eps files, which to me, mean vector, easy to use etc. These files are all raster, thus if you are seeking full vector, you might need to order a copy of Adobe Streamline and covert these. Big disappointment.

I agree with the Graphic Designer from Los Angeles..........2003-01-05
And unfortunately I was looking for true clip art! However, I must say that the ornaments presented are truly stunning, and can easily be used in paper crafting of any kind. I used this book to create labels for gifts and to address holiday envelopes. I am a novice desktop publisher and was not disappointed.

Graphic Designer in Los Angeles.......2000-12-02
The ornamentation is very nice but something anyone buying any of the Dover Electronic Clip Art series books should take into account is that they are not actual clip art items. Dover has just scanned the art and put it on a CD, the items are not scalable or changeable in a usual clip art format. It is very helpful to have the images already scanned but if you want true clip art, this book is not for you.

Full-Color Fruit Crate Labels CD-ROM and Book (Dover Electronic Series).......2007-10-01
This is a great book of vintage label clip art. Very clean images and lots of diversity in subject. I would recommend for any craft, or graphic project.
Same Book as Old-fashioned Fruit Crate Labels.......2003-01-23
I bought this book and Old-Time Fruit Crate Labels in Full Color because I was interested in using some of the labels for decoupage. Imagine my surprise when I received them and found out the books have exactly the same labels inside--Full-Color Fruit Crate Labels just has the CD-ROM and a different cover.
The labels are beautiful and I will be using them, but I am disappointed that it is not possible to determine from the book descriptions that they have the same labels. Oh well, I'm giving my extra copy to our local library.
