Book Description
In this raucous collection of true-life stories, actress and comedian Chelsea Handler recounts her time spent in the social trenches with that wild, strange, irresistible, and often gratifying beast: the one-night stand.
You've either done it or know someone who has: the one-night stand, the familiar outcome of a night spent at a bar, sometimes the sole payoff for your friend's irritating wedding, or the only relief from a disastrous vacation. Often embarrassing and uncomfortable, occasionally outlandish, but most times just a necessary and irresistible evil, the one-night stand is a social rite as old as sex itself and as common as a bar stool.
Enter Chelsea Handler. Gorgeous, sharp, and anything but shy, Chelsea loves men and lots of them. My Horizontal Life chronicles her romp through the different bedrooms of a variety of suitors, a no-holds-barred account of what can happen between a man and a sometimes very intoxicated, outgoing woman during one night of passion. From her short fling with a Vegas stripper to her even shorter dalliance with a well-endowed little person, from her uncomfortable tryst with a cruise ship performer to her misguided rebound with a man who likes to play leather dress-up, Chelsea recalls the highs and lows of her one-night stands with hilarious honesty. Encouraged by her motley collection of friends (aka: her partners in crime) but challenged by her family members (who at times find themselves a surprise part of the encounter), Chelsea hits bottom and bounces back, unafraid to share the gritty details. My Horizontal Life is one guilty pleasure you won't be ashamed to talk about in the morning.

Just ok...not side splitting funny........2007-10-13
From reading most of the reviews, you would think that this was a drop dead hilarious book but, in my opinion it really isn't that funny. I thought it took awhile to get going and even then it had it's slow parts. But, I must admit the last three chapters do make up for the rest of the book!
If you are looking for a book you can spend a day reading curled up on the couch and be somewhat entertained then this is the book for you. Afrer all, it is a very quick read. If you are looking for a book with side splitting laughs, you might want to look somewhere else.
TOO FUNNY!!!.......2007-10-01
So I noticed a lot of people bashing this book for Chelsea being a pill-poppin tramp who only loves vodka and sex... and she WAS, but I found this book hilarious!!! I am in my late 20's and found this book to be extremely funny, witty and courageous (because Lord knows I wouldn't write about my past sex life for all my family and friends to read!)
I laughed nearly the entire book - especially about the S&M guy who wanted to be "smacked". HAHA!
Good job Chelsea! You continue to make me laugh and I'll def pick up another one of your books! See you on E!
Hilarious, fast read.......2007-09-20
One of the funniest, laugh out loud books ive ever read. It's become a favorite gift to give to my girlfriends!
The title really IS misleading.......2007-09-06
This book really is about Chelsea's "near misses". Instead of gloriously detailed sex-capades, her writings were more about her trying to weasel out of sex related situations. Reading it, I had a hard time believing that her character was even having sex at all. There was all this fluff concerning wild and crazy conversations/situations that would ultimately lead up to the 'come back to my room?' moment, which would then be quickly followed with her chickening out and having to find a less than tactful means of escape. I was left thinking that her character would be the type to walk around shouting 'I'm a slut! Come on boys!', when in reality all she would do is kiss. Not very promiscuous. The entire book was impersonal and, at times, had struggled to remain witty. It was surprising to find that by the last five or six pages, Chelsea actually began to write in a more biographical style where you began to feel some sort of raw emotion from her, which had been refreshing after two-hundred pages of emptiness. I don't regret having read it, I'm just a little sad with the money wasted purchasing it.
Let's here it for Chelsea Handler!.......2007-08-30
While I am a fan of Chelsea's stand up I found reading it and hearing it in the voice of hers I'm familiar with even more entertaining. Not all the jokes I've heard live on her show have the kind of punch that the material in this laugh out loud book does. It's a great book if you want to have a really good time and also have the freedom to put it down after each chapter/story. You can use this book as your light pick me up reading between deeper, darker, heavier reading.
Just so we're clear this book will teach you nothing about sex. It is in no way "erotic". Chelsea is merely offering up her sex life as comic material that is truly unique!

Poor Title, Fun Read.......2005-11-29
The surprisingly interesting stories in this collection generally range from one-half to three pages in length. The anecdotes are all cited from other works, lending this collection some credibility despite the poor title. A great book for a bathroom reader.
Fun to read, fun to pass around.......2002-11-15
You'll be amused, you'll read some of these out loud to your friends, then they will enjoy it and pass it on. Very light, very fun.
Delightful Anecdotes.......2001-05-13
Not exactly heavy reading, since one can finish it in one sitting with little effort, but this was one of the most fun books this little history buff has ever read.
ONSWAH gives a few dozen anecdotes and unusual or ironic facts in each era of American history on up until the Carter administration.
For anyone who is interested in America history and wants something more akin to brain candy, I highly recommend this book. It's one you will pull off the shelf again and again, just to make sure that little known and silly fact actually does exist and you didn't just imagine it. Just please don't start any bar fights over some of the odder bits of trivia.
One Night Stands..........2001-01-30
Wonderful book. Second I have read from Shenkman and I am off to order more. There are few books that when the end comes, you have a deep feeling of regret. I hated to see the book end. It treats history in an interesting manner and provides stories that are often left out in the dry classes that worry about covering a survey course and not the interesting tidbit of social history which add to the flavor of our American society.
One Night Stand.......2000-07-07
I was visiting Washington D.C. recently and saw this book at the gift shop there. On a whim (mostly because I love trivia), I decided to buy the book to read on the plane home. I never made it that far.
Richard Shenkman and Kurt Reiger put together a collection of trivia, facts, and anecdotes regarding nine different time periods including Columbus, The Civil War, Hiroshima, and many others. A wide variety of information is covered, and nearly every (if not every) entry has source notes.
When I first picked up the book, I finished it before my scheduled plane departure. I stayed up all night reading the book until it was finished. I had a One Night Stand with American History.
Book Description
When Tania Katan was 21 years old she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She survived, minus a breast. Exactly 10 years later it happened again. By age 31 Katan was a two-time breast cancer survivor with the scars to prove it and a sense of humor forged by the unthinkable. Her memoir, loaded with rage and blistering humor, tells the tale of living through two bouts with death and is woven through with stories of picking up women while bald, coping with her supportive but neurotic family, running in two 10K races, and pledging to never ever date a psychotic woman again. An unforgettable account of survival.
Tania Katan's plays have been seen at Connecticut Repertory Theatre, Circle Repertory Theatre, Theatre Rhinoceros, Pacific Residence Theatre, A Traveling Jewish Theatre, and Theatre of NOTE.

I Love this book!!!!.......2007-09-04
Tania Katan is a ROCK STAR, no two ways about it. Read this book, it will make you laugh and cry!!
Short but not shallow - moving but not mushy.......2006-11-15
Katan's story is not a typical breast cancer survivor success story - in part because she got hit twice, once at 21, and again ten years later, just when she thought all was well. Katan deftly shifts between flashback and present-day in comparing and contrasting her experience with each cancer and its removal. This is a easy read that will nevertheless leave an indelible impression.
A hard-hitting, honest account which doesn't pull punches or disguise its humanness.......2005-12-08
Author Tania Katan was 21 when she was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer: 10 years later and one breast less she again faced the same diagnosis. Don't expect the usual story of pain and courage: Katan's raw, blasting memoir is playful and angry alike, covering everything from self-image and post-mastectomy sex to shopping for a mastectomy bra. My One-Night Stand With Cancer is a hard-hitting, honest account which doesn't pull punches or disguise its humanness.
A different book ... a different perspective on cancer.......2005-11-09
I saw a short article announcing the book's release in a magazine and thought it would be an interesting read, because you seldom see a humorous look at something we deem as "not a joking matter". WOW! Let me say, this book is more than just about someone getting cancer. It's about family and friendships and no matter how quirky your family is and how toxic some relationships are, you can still come out on top even when you've been hit not once, but twice with a life threatening disease. Tania is my hero. Very inspiring story. You'll find yourself scolding her in some parts and emphatically cheering her on in others. I definitely recommend this book. You will not regret it.
Tania Rocks!.......2005-10-26
This book is awesome! As a cancer surviour myself I could relate to what Ms. Katan has gone through. Although this book is written with humor, it did stir up feelings that I thought I had all ready dealt with. It is extremely well written and an easy read. Even if you have not had to battle cancer, I think you will enjoy this book, especially if someone you care for has gone through this terrible illness. Tania, I hope you continue writing and I will be your number one fan!

Not the best for Ben Tyler.......2007-07-28
This is a story around two waiters that are out of work when the diner closes. They struggle to get work but get laid more in the process. They get tangled up with powerful men of Hollywood. The book did have its moments but I have read better books by Ben Tyler. I do not feel I wasted my money on the book but just go into the book knowing that Ben Tyler has much better works out there.
Good for the first erotica I've read........2007-03-17
I got this book as a gift. It had a pretty interesting story line to it. A bit unrealistic if you really think about it. But it still makes for a hot story line. The sex scenes were pretty good, better than some of the stories I've read. I haven't read any of his previous work, so I wouldn't know if this was a better or worse work of his. Toward the end I couldn't put it down though and ended up finishing the last half of the book in one night while at the beach.
What some guys won't do for a buck!.......2006-03-14
Well, this is my third Ben Tyler novel. I previously read "Tricks of the Trade" and "Hunk House." This was my least favorite of the three. A very trite story, (the sex was good) but not good enough. I really thought I was going to read about some very "hot" sex, but it was more like reading an article in a gay version of Cosmopolitan Magazine. Tyler is a good writer, one of the better ones of this genre. I have sitting on my shelf "Gay Blades" and will read that in hopes that it is on par with his earlier work. I did like however, the relationship in this novel between Derek and Juan. This is far from the best gay novel I have ever read, but if you're looking for some "good" sex with a somewhat interesting story line attached, this should do it for you.

Review of One Night Stand.......2006-02-24
The story line is trite. The characters are somewhat unrealistic and overly romanticized. Everything falls too conveniently into place and that's not life! The story is initially entertaining, but soon bogs down into cliches and basically boring characters. Apart from this, the book is mildly entertaining.
boring.......2005-12-08
I found myself reading this book as fast as I could, not because I couldn't wait to see what happened, but because I wanted it to END. It was slightly painful, to be honest. The strory line is convoluted and incongrous. I bought it, to be truthful, bc of the cover, and because I thought it would be more of an Erotica book than a novel. Even though the sexual scenes were good, the rest was just plainly awful. And there is a lot of the rest. I could not identify with any of the characters, and did not feel anything, not even a little bit of pity, for any of them (well, except Juan, the Illegal Mexican, he was better developed through most of the book, but hardly likeable by the end).

Damaged Goods: A Novel
ASIN: 0743268881 |
Book Description
This sexy, action-packed thriller, set on the streets and in the courthouses of Los Angeles, is an explosive literary mix of contemporary urban authenticity and classic old-school crime fiction by the author of Damaged Goods and the cult classic The School on 103rd Street.
How did a street hustler, in and out of jail since he was ten, beat a murder rap -- no matter whether he did the crime or not? Meet Myra Cross, a thirty-one-year-old redheaded beauty with a take-no-prisoners reputation as a public defender. She confounds her colleagues and clients alike as she not only wins acquittal after acquittal for her clients but poses for Playboy spreads in her spare time. She has the face of an angel, the body of a goddess, and a mind like a steel trap -- but with secrets and demons, she neither pretends to be a Girl Scout nor to have all the answers. But this time, when she's once again assigned the defense of Napoleon T. Booker, aka Little Dog Nine, who's charged with another homicide, she gets much more than she bargained for.
"Street smarts stopped Myra Cross dead in her tracks. Napoleon Booker had reached inside her brain and ripped out her essence, dangled it in front of her like an item for sale at an eBay auction. Was she that transparent -- 'a coke-snorting, nymphomaniac basehead little freak?'"
Roland S. Jefferson's fiction earns him comparisons to fellow master storytellers, including Elmore Leonard and Walter Mosley. This hot new novel will have his loyal following and a legion of new fans alike on fire, sitting on the edge of their seats in this pulse-pounding thriller they won't be able to put down until the last page!
Customer Reviews:
Nothing like a crooked cop.......2007-02-10
Myra Cross is a smart and sexy lawyer, who has worked hard to build her career as a public defender. However, her past seems to be coming to face her again. When she was young, her father left the family, which also left Myra discombobulated. This unsettling feeling is transferred into her making a decision that will eventually change her career. Posing nude for Playboy magazine not only jeopardizes her career but it will turn her into an American sex symbol. Even with this life-altering escapade, Myra still can't seem to keep her dress down - even at work and this is the core of Roland S. Jefferson's ONE NIGHT STAND.
Myra Cross's client, Napoleon Booker, has been accused of a series of crimes from theft to murder, Myra believes he is innocent but can she prove it? Napoleon is by no means a saint. He is a street hustler who has done his share of wrong. But has he stolen $7 million and killed a guard during the robbery? The police certainly have the evidence against him and it's up to him and Myra to do the impossible and prove his innocence.
The book started off slow and then picked up speed. Jefferson's heroine was sometimes a little hard to take. Her brilliance was evident however her slutty behavior seemed to put a damper on her brain. How could such a smart woman behave in such a stupid manner? Some of the other characters behaved in strange ways also. The book became more exciting as the story unfolded. It is an interesting read but Myra Cross seemed out of character as she engaged in her sexual acts rather than using her stunning mind that we kept hearing about. Napoleon was an odd character too. He was brilliant but his up bringing in the streets made him seem like an average joe. His wierdness was a great testimony to how poverty and need can deform a smart individual.

A THUG, A REDHEAD LAWYER AND SOME DIRTY COPS!.......2006-12-09
Don't ever judge a book by its cover or the title. I have no idea why Roland Jefferson titled this book One Night Stand, but I am so glad I ordered this book and read it! This is one of the BEST crime-mystery books I have read in my life! The story kept me on the edge of my seat(LITERALLY) at work, at home, in the salon getting my hair done, while cooking dinner, while my boyfriend watched the game..I kept wodering what was gonna happen next!
Napoleon gets stopped one night for driving with no lights on in brand new Mustang by some DIRTY cops in the wrong neighborhood. He soon hooks up with redhead beau defense laywer Myra Cross who helps prove his innoence of the crime he's accused of. It was a rollercoaster ride reading this book and it never stopped until I got to page 320.
You take a thug with a record as long as his name, a redhead, green-eyed lawyer with an IQ of a genius and some dirty cops desperate to frame and kill anybody who blocks their chance of getting their hands of seven million dollars and you've got a book full of action!
This author has a way with words that draw you into the story and make you feel like you're right there! His characters seem so real you can't help but to speak to them while reading this novel. Roland Jefferson is now on my favorite author list and I wanna read every book that has his name on him!
A perfect and easy five star book!!!!!!! Trust me! Get it!
One Night Stand.......2006-09-03
This book definitely ranks amongst one of the best books we have ever read. It had us hooked from page one. Without giving the plot away, the book is full of exciting, nail-biting moments, so you don't have to worry about being bored and struggling through this one. We had a lengthy, deep discussion about real life issues of police corruption, preconceived notions, drugs, race, dysfunctional childhoods and the justice system. All of which the author very craftily and expertly brought to life in One Night Stand.
The two main characters; a very attractive, white female lawyer (Myra) with an exceptionally high IQ and a street-savvy young black male (Napoleon) will keep you on your toes as they continually chip away at one's tendency to stereotype. The complexity of the characters and the plot are sure to keep you as addicted to the book as Myra was to drugs.
Don't Judge the Book by Its Cover.......2006-07-18
Gangbanger, Napoleon Booker is a lot of things and has a criminal record to prove it. But he did not commit the crime that the corrupt Los Angeles Police department is trying to pen on him. Someone is trying to set him up and frame him for a crime he did not commit. He must prove that he did not engineer a bank heist several years ago that netted the robbers $750K. Napoleon needs help and he needs it fast as the real culprits do not want the truth to be told and will stop at nothing to keep it hidden. Enters a familiar face from Napoleon's past--blonde haired, blue-eyed public defender, Myra Cross to the rescue--she saved him before and he is hoping she can do it again. Myra is at the top of her game but she wants out. Her dream might come true quicker than she anticipated as she has recently posted for a Playboy spread which might get her fired and allow her to explore other avenues. But, first she must once again save Napoleon's behind especially since this time he might just be innocent. Napoleon is counting on Myra as she is his last resort and he wishes that she is not too distracted to focus and win his case. Mayhem, murder, betrayal, secrets all litter their paths as they race against time to discover the real criminals and try and stay alive in the process.
The cover and title for One Night Stand are a disconnect and a prime example of why one should not judge a book by its cover (or title). Once I got past these innocuous distractions, I discovered a compelling and entertaining mystery. The novel is a creatively crafted plot and I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. Jefferson successfully balanced show and tell while developing a plot driven storyline complete with well-developed characters. He did a fine job--via Napoleon's character--of showing what happens to many talented and gifted African American youth who unfortunately when they have no strong parental figures are left to be raised by their `street families.' If you are looking for a good mystery with suspense, intrigue, action-packed plot twists and turns then check out One Night Stand by Roland Jefferson.

Myra and Napoleon, an unlikely duo, must work together to prove the innocence of one. Myra Cross is a stunning white public defender with a killer body. She has a reputation both in and outside of the courtroom. Napoleon Booker is a young drug dealer facing his third strike. With skill and finesse, Myra was able to help him beat a case in the past. Can the same prove true this go round? Myra and Napoleon make surprisingly good partners as they navigate through the streets of LA and even Mexico looking for evidence. But someone wants the truth to remain hidden. Are Myra and Napoleon in way over their heads?

SAD AND TRAGIC.......2006-03-11
It's unfortunate that jon seemed to have no one in his life to at least attempt to help him. I couldn't help feeling sorry for him. why was he never able to make the connection to his self-destructive behavior and his abuse as a child? perhaps because he was unable to stay clean and sober for only a few weeks at a time. reading this book, it was difficult to separate truth from fiction, he rambles on, full of self-delusion, fooling no one. I had heard of his death before I saw him on an erotic awards show video, obviously drunk, I listened as this doomed and damaged muscle-man stumbled through his presentation. so painful to watch, such a sad ending to a life. the book was also in desperate need of an editor.
Bizarre stream of consciousness non-auto biography.......2006-02-25
If someone is going to write an auto biography, they should at least have the decency to attempt to write fact and not fiction (this is not "A Million Little Pieces").
I knew "Jon Vincent," albeit not very well. This book isn't about Jon Vincent. It is about who Jon Vincent imagined himself to be.
Within a couple of paragraphs of each other, he makes contradictory statements. His parents weren't involved.....then all of a sudden they were dutiful and supportive.
Vincent says he saw the book as part of his twelve step program, but the problem with his twelve step program was that he continued to lie to himself.
The writing in the book is very stream of consciousness - which, I'll admit has its place, and it may have its place here. The problem is that the writing is juvenile - not childish - but juvenile. This is the self agrandizing high school jock we all knew and if not for his musculature, we would have tried to knock some sense into him.
Pompous is a good word. Braggadocious is another. It's not the stories he relays in the book that warrant my contempt, it's the way in which they are delivered. He seems to want to impress us with both his manliness and hetero-esque thinking and behavior. It's as if he's trying to prove to all those who knew him and who read about him that he was NOT the homo that appeared in dozens of gay porn films. While this is what makes this book a NON autobiography, it is also possibly what raises it to a different level. If the reader is able to see the self-denial and overt conceit in the writing, then possibly it is a great insight to Jon's psychological nature. But it is a very poor autobiography.
Jon died after this book was written - he overdosed. Should we feel sorry for his death? Yes. However, I don't feel the same pity for him as I do for the deaths of others who had put their lives to good use. Jon had a self destructive nature that he did not keep in check and that led to his demise.
a train wreck of a story. . . ........2005-09-06
. . . and like a train wreck it's horrible, it's awful, you wish you'd never seen it-- and you can't look away.
The book is made up almost entirely of transcriptions of Jeffrey Vickers' (AKA Jon Vincent) taped statements and don't seem to be edited much. It is very 'stream of consciousness' and at times difficult to follow, even though the editor laid it out (as much as he could) in chronological order. Jeff is brutally honest at times, and at other times (at least self-) deceptive, but through it all, he hammers home his one message: stay away from drugs.
The casual tone in which he describes incredible debaucheries (the description of one of his copraphiliac 'clients' will make most readers phsyically ill) actually heightens the horrors of his drug addiction. Here was a man blessed with looks, an incredible physique, athletic ability, charm, and intelligence (not the kind of intelligence that could have sent rockets into space or composed a symphony, but certainly he was no dummy) and he squandered it all, quite literally, all of it.
The censoring of genitalia in the photos actually seems unnecessary and in some ways makes the photos even seedier.
Personally I would have liked a bit more input from those who knew Jeffrey (and his alter-ego Jon) and more of an epilogue-- what happened to Jeffrey after death? Was he mourned by anyone? Where was he laid to rest? What became of his only son? On the other hand, the stark and austere finale of the book resonates very powerfully-- Jon is living, talking to us, exhorting us, begging us, and then suddenly-- he's gone. Someone who might have been a star athlete, who might have inspired others as athletes can do, must instead, at BEST, hope for 'cautionary example' status in death. Jeff Vickers is no hero. But maybe his story might keep some other disaffected young and confused gay man from selling his beauty and seeking escape from the pain of his own personal hell on earth through drugs and parties.
A difficult read.......2005-07-25
This book was a difficult read. It was like wanting to stare at a car accident...No matter how depressing this was and how I disliked Jon more and more I had to finish reading it, though at times was tempted to just give up.
The writting is chaotic and Jon is so un-likable there was nothing in this book that I could feel for....

CANT TRUST THESE SISTAHS.......2005-04-08
THE BOOK WAS GREAT AND ALL, BUT WHAT PISSES ME OFF IS THAT SOME OF THESE BLACK WOMEN IN THESE STORIES HAVE A BOYFRIEND OR A HUSBAND, AND THEYRE OUT THERE CHEATIN OR HAVIN AN AFFAIR. WHAT KINDA SH!# IS THAT?!!!! THATS WHY NOBODY CAN TRUST THESE WOMEN. I LOVE THEM, BUT I KNOW THAT IM NOT GONNA BE HAVIN NO LASTIN RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM. CAUSE THATS NOT WHAT THEY WANT. THEY WANT SEX, THEN THATS WHAT IMMA GIVE THEM. AND THEY RUN AROUND CRYIN BOUT THEY CANT FIND A GOOD MAN. THANKS TO BROWN SUGAR 2, I KNOW WHAT THESE SISTAHS WANT. AND IMMA GIVE IT TO THEM. THEY DONT WANNA BE FAITHFUL, THEN THEY COULD BE THE OLD ONE IN THE CLUB, CAUSE "IM INTO HAVIN SEX, I AINT INTO MAKIN LOVE....." LET THE GAMES BEGIN.....
A Great Sequel.......2003-03-20
After reading # 1 and #2, my opinion is that the editor maintained the same level of excellence in her selection of works, which is not always easy to achieve as the example of Suzy Bright's once-great Best American Erotica series has proven recently. It is a delight to read erotica that is fleshed out (no pun intended), and the pieces in this collection truly work as stories even when they are not overly sexual, as do some of the better selections in Maxim Jakubowski's Mammoth Book series (I'm thinking of THE DRESS, CUCKOO, THE NAUGHTY YARD, THE STORY OF NO, and so on). There are some big names in this one, Zane, Nelson George, Tananarive Due, Timmothy B. McCann, Shay Youngblood; and some returning favorites who are even better the second time around, Leone Ross and Preston L. Allen. Leone hinted in BS # 1 that she had a kinky side, but in this one she leaves no doubt that she is a straight up freak. Preston manages again to tell a story that is both captivating and stimulating.
Brown Sugar is HOT.......2003-03-04
Brown Sugar 2 lives up to the same high standards set by the first Brown Sugar anthology. It's smart and sexy - each story stimulates the mind and body. I especially loved "Sit" for it's unpredictable and delicious ending.
Erotic One Night Stands.......2003-03-01
Brown Sugar 2 is an erotic tribute to one night stands. Tales from notable authors, such as Zane, Tananarive Due, Bernice McFadden, Nelson George, and Timmothy McCann, give the reader different views and insights as to why people have one night stands. From loneliness, to loss of a loved one, to just wanting to have sex with "no strings attached", this book has it all and explains the motivations as well as the actual act of one night stands.
Although a work of fiction, the book is so graphic and vivid, the stories and characters come to life. In addition, Brown Sugar 2 is highly erotic and conveys the message that a one night stand can be erotic, therapeutic, and at times necessary. I highly recommend this book to any one who enjoys erotica, as well as any one who is just looking for a good read.

ONE NIGHT STAND IS FANTASIC.......2007-04-03
I HAVE JUST MOVED TO THE BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON AREA AND I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE VERY INTERESTING. THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THE FACT THAT IT IS SUCH REALITY BASED. THE PEOPLE IN THIS AREA ACT EXACTLY LIKE SOME OF THE CHARACTERS IN THIS NOVEL. ITS JUST SO FUNNY TO ME SEEING THAT, KNOWING I HAVE NOT LIVED IN THE STATES FOR ABOUT FOUR YEARS.I LOVE THE BOOK AND I AM SURE YOU WILL AS WELL.
LOVE ALWAYS MARCEL
Really quick read...........2007-03-16
The book has a few good moments but generally jumps all over the place. The fact that they introduce new characters all the way up to the end really doesn't help the situation any....wouldn't recommend unless you have some time to kill.....and you are desperate!!
One Night and That' All It Took!.......2006-03-29
This book was really good! It took me a whole day to read but I was finished in one day! Please buy you a copy and enjoy the reading!
The Review.......2005-08-21
I really enjoyed reading this book by Walter Wright. Why? (LOL).
You know when you are going through something and you pick up a book and your intention is to read the book for pleasure but the book starts speaking to you and you start seeing yourself or relating to a character or characters in the book. For me that is what this book did along with being a great read.
I enjoyed the characters as they are diverse and relateable. I know these characters along with sharing some behaviors of these characters.
I enjoyed Mr. Wright's writing style as he writes in a manner that is unique and totally his.
I laughed, I aahed, I thought, and I was sad. Many emotions ran through me as I read this book and that for me heralds a good writer along with me scheduling an appointment with my therapist (lol).
Mr. Wright I applaud you on your debut novel and look forward to many wonderful works from you as you truly are a dynamic writer.
For those wondering what the book is about, well, you are just going to have to purchase the book (smile).
One Night Stand is a day in the life of several Washington, DC Metro characters all getting ready to party hearty at a party held later that day titled "One Night Stand."
