Very Relaxing.......2007-09-28
I enjoyed this book very much. I kept it on my coffee table and would color in it to relax. Now that each page is colored I have moved it to my bookshelf.
Very nice!.......2007-06-12
Out of the half dozen coloring books we bought last year this one was our favorite. Every design felt well thought out and was quite fun to color. My only complaint is that there weren't more pictures to color. This is well worth buying if you're looking for a challenge to your coloring skills.
Great Book!!! Thanks!!.......2007-01-25
This is a very unusal book,...I think I am going to really enjoy this one!!! Thanks again!!! Arcrystal
Just do it!.......2007-01-13
The book sat around for awhile, the markers I used didn't work well with the paper. Then I started with colored pencils, now I'm addicted!
Love It!.......2006-11-28
I ordered 6 coloring books on the same day, and out of all of them, this one IS my FAVORITE. The designs are more than meaningless geometric shapes. They're really pretty!! And the pages are nice and big, and you can tear them out!! So you don't have to worry about that annoying bump getting in the way when you're trying to color.
MAIN POINT the designs are pretty :) I recommend.

World Mandalas: 100 New Designs for Coloring and Meditation
ASIN: 1570625832
Release Date: 2000-11-14 |
Book Description
Drawing the traditional circular designs known as mandalas is a meditative practice, a healing exercise in times of crisis, and a pleasurable act of creativity. As a symbol of the Self, the mandala provides a connection to our innermost being. The forty-eight drawings presented here for coloring include designs inspired by forms of nature, Native American and Tibetan sand paintings, Hindu yantras, Turkish mosaics, the illuminations of Hildegarde of Bingen, and the art of M.C. Escher. These mandalas are organized according to the Great Round of Mandala, a scheme of twelve archetypal stages that represents a complete cycle of personal growth. Thus, to do the coloring book from start to finish will carry the reader through a balanced experience of change, guided by the accompanying text.

Coloring Mandalas for Insight, Healing and Self-expression.......2007-09-16
The process of working within the sacred circle of the mandala, whether drawing one freehand or coloring printed designs, is a very meditative process leading to a deepening sense in one's spiritual quest, as well as a calming and centering of the mind. Within this meditative state there is a shift or awareness in personal problem solving or just pure relaxation, which also allows for shifts, solutions, change or added awarenesses.
great book.......2007-07-07
This was a great book for a present to someone who wants to relax. It arrived in excellent condition and in perfect time.
Learning to lose yourself in Mandalas.......2007-07-05
I started with book No. 3. It doesn't matter which book you begin with. Just begin your discovery. What a special tool for self-discovery. HAVE FUN!
Excellent book.......2007-05-07
Great mandala book. I use it with my work with children and adolescents in therapy. -- Dr. Bay
remarkable.......2005-12-17
I recently switched to coloring in this book, Coloring Mandalas by Susanne Fincher and I cannot rave about it enough. Though only about 20 pages long, it contains a amazing amount of information regarding not only mandalas but also the inner workings of the psyche. Some of the things she said regarding the constant interplay between the ego and Self (in the Jungian sense) and the cyclical times wherein the Self pushes for change and the ego might feel deflated at such times hit the nail right on the head in regards to my own recent psychological shake-up that I seem to be undergoing. Then, coloring through the mandalas, which are particularly set into a certain order of stages of growth have at times really touched me. I really recommend this book and this process for learning about the self.

Configure the Center Just How You Need It.......2004-03-04
I purchased the whole series. At times different forms call for my attention and the additional selection is definitely appreciated. The variety is quite good. They range from simpler to complex, with open spaces which leave room for my own variations. The author's designs seem to create a sacred space in which the individual's own light can shine, even if all they want to do is simply "color" a bit. I would expect this flexibility to make them accessible to people with widely varying skills: children, many disabled persons, the elderly, the imaginative and the gifted artist, as well and most of us who are somewhere in between. Yet they are undemanding so that no one need miss out on the calm center and its healing.
Everyone's Mandala Coloring Book Series.......2000-09-13
Author, artist, transpersonal psychotherapist and business person all describe what Monique Mandali is, but do not tell you who she is. I've been privileged to meet Monique and I know that she is a seeker traveling her path. Her walking stick is her love for all, especially children. Ms. Mandali offers a series of four coloring books for children and adults. There are three different delights in the original Everyone's Mandala Coloring Book series, each consisting of 22 designs. While the original three books in the series contain designs by the author, the latest (and perhaps greatest) has 25 peace mandalas from children all around the world. The Peace Mandala Coloring Book is very special because the mandalas are designed by children unencumbered by the pressure of adult living. Further, they bring a variety of spiritual as well as geographical cultures to bear.
Monique Mandali has given us something special. Not only do we find drawings to color that can aid in health and serenity...Everyone's Mandala Coloring Book Series is additionally special because they represent the best part of Monique Mandali, her love!
Wonderfully centering activity and a great gift!.......1999-07-06
Volume 2 of Everyone's Mandala Coloring Book has given me even more opportunities to share this wonderful, relaxing experience with friends of all ages - and to enjoy this peaceful, centering activity. Kudos to the author and creator!
A classic among mandala coloring books. Wonderful!.......1999-06-15
Gorgeous designs. I've purchased several copies as gifts for kids as well as older people and am not about to stop buying this wonderful coloring book. Plus I really like the perforated pages for easy removal of the pages. Thanks, Monique!
Book Description
Popular among designers and crafters, the circular symmetry of mandala designs also makes them fun to color. This eye-catching collection of "stained glass" illustrations invites coloring book fans to apply their hues to a variety of these intriguing patterns, complete with centerpieces of human faces, florals, mythical creatures, and abstract designs.
Customer Reviews:
Nice but . . ........2007-09-30
These are nice designs. But like all Dover Coloring Books, the designs are printed back to back. So if you use markers to color, like I mostly do, they bleed through and ruin the back design. If you prefer to use pencils to color, then this is a nice book--as are many of the Dover series.
excellent.......2007-01-10
i've truly enjoyed the mandalas stained glass coloring book. It's very calming and soothing which allows you to forget the stresses of everyday. the designs are awesome!
Excellent selection of designs.......2006-07-19
There is a good selection of designs, and the print is on both sides of the page. The mandala will come out in much more vibrant colors if you use fine tip markers and color on both sides. The look beautiful in my windows and my only problem is that they don't perforate the edges of the page, so tearing the finished product out of the book is sort of a pain.
Mandalas Stained Glass Coloring Book.......2006-03-25
I found them kind of hard to color with pencils. The colors were not as vibrant as I had they would be. The designs, however were great.
two uses: coloring book and "stained glass" window decor.......2006-03-12
My 6-year-old daughter and I both enjoy coloring these mandalas and hanging them in the windows.
Book Description
Coloring the circular designs known as mandalas is a creative activity that brings relaxation, healing, and self-understanding. Susanne Fincher's first such coloring book, Coloring Mandalas, presented designs organized according to a scheme of twelve archetypal stages that represents a cycle of personal growth. This sequel focuses on a single one of these stages, "Crystallization," which is associated with the completion of a cycle of growth. Imagine a fully opened rose in a sunny garden, releasing its fragrance as it gently bobs in a summer breeze. This is the feeling of the stage of Crystallizationâa time of reaping rewards and benefits from the work we have performed; of realizing and appreciating our achievements; of resting in the pleasure of having fulfilled a personal creative inspiration. Crystallization is also a time of significant spiritual understanding, when our spiritual nature comes together in harmony with our physical nature. The mandalas in this book aim to: Help us understand ourselves and our place in the scheme of things Evoke a sense of harmony, order, and fulfillment Provide relaxation and a soothing balance for hectic lifestyles Uncover meaning in the ongoing stream of human experience Deepen our meditation Enable us to experience the spiritual energy that inspired these sacred circles
Customer Reviews:
Makes My Mind "Go Away".......2007-06-09
Though I've just begun using it, I bought the Mandala Coloring Book to aid me in relaxation after hectic days and before bed. It is intriguing, to say the least. While coloring the intricate designs, I'm not able to think of much else, making it easier to wind down and "turn off" my head.
Just learning.......2006-12-22
If coloring calms you and you like art this is the book for you.
Fabulous fun..........2005-07-26
I found colored pencils worked best for getting into some of the tiny lines and tight corners of these mandalas. I found coloring them to be almost medatative.
I Felt Like a Kid Again!.......2005-06-09
When I was a little girl, my parents had bought me several coloring books that included wonderful geometric shapes - I absolutely loved them! Well, one day last year I got to thinking about how much I loved these particular coloring books, and since I remembered them being quite difficult back then, I started wondering if I might like to get some more and start coloring again.
I went on a long and arduous search to find these books (once I get an idea in my mind, I'm like a pit bull until I follow through), but none of the bookstores I went to had any idea of what I was talking about. Then I happened to do a search on Amazon, and found this mandala coloring book. Although it isn't exactly the same as what I remember, I fell in love with the beautiful shapes included on each page.
Plus, I got a bonus, as I had never heard of a "mandala" before, and the author gives some info. re: this at the start of this book.
I love to sit down with my colored pencils or gel pens, and let the stress melt away as I let my creative mind take over. I honestly feel like a kid again - and I love that!
If you are an adult looking for a creative outlet, someone who's interested in mandalas, and/or one who just simply loves coloring, then this book is for you!
Even better than Fincher's first mandala book!.......2005-04-14
I am so glad Fincher brought out this second book! I had already worked through the first book and taken such pleasure in it. Yes, the first one is good, but, for my purposes, the second one is even better.
It's made with the same high-quality paper that takes the colour so well and the same lie-flat spiral binding that makes colouring easy. There's a helpful little essay at the beginning explaining the author's theories concerning the mandala and why it can be so helpful both therapeutically and spiritually.
The designs are what make this book a standout! And there are so many of them: seventy-two in all! What abundance! Each one is a detailed and beautiful work of art, even before you start laying the colour down. Snowflakes, cathedral windows, tribal amulets: you will be inspired just by looking at these mandalas.
I often colour a mandala on my day off, in the afternoon, when the sun is slanting in just so. I open the book at random, and look at the mandala for awhile before getting a sense of what colour to start with. I never know what will be the end result until I've laid down the last stroke. And I always title and date the mandalas.
A hot bath, a glass of wine, a long walk on the nature trail and colouring. I love to colour, and this book gives me a lot of scope for creativity in colour design, as well as making me feel connected to past cultures.
Just a note: I did the entire first volume with a large box (48 colour set) of Prismacolor pencils and was so pleased with the results. The more colours you have, the more you can experiment. And go to an art store and get yourself a couple of nice, hand-held pencil sharpeners: you are going to need them. Many of the designs are quite intricate and detailed.
Book Description
Coloring the circular designs known as mandalas is a relaxing, meditative activity enjoyed by adults and children alike. The mandalas in this book are specially designed to provide a creative encounter with the Divine as a feminine presence. The archetypal imagery of the circle—appearing in the form of organic shapes of nature, the curves of the female body, the womb and childbirth rituals, the circular turning of cosmic rhythms, or geometric designs conveying the primal energy of the Goddess—celebrates the full range of the sacred feminine, from gentle and motherly to fierce and challenging.
An introductory essay traces the stream of the sacred feminine from prehistoric sources through modern spiritual traditions and the work of contemporary scholars of psychology and religion. Mandalas for coloring include designs based on ancient European artifacts, traditional Hindu yantras, and contemporary art. Full-color illustrations provide inspiration, and instructions for drawing your own geometric mandalas add to the creative possibilities. Coloring Mandalas 3 will appeal particularly to individuals and groups who wish to explore spirituality as a pathway to deeper meaning and personal growth.

Customer Reviews:
Go for a walk in bliss in these mandalas.......2007-07-05
Be daring to lose yourself in a mandala. One never knows what to expect. Open your heart, mind and soul. You will not be disappointed. Learn from these forms and then learn to create your own!
Too scripted.......2007-05-07
I would have preferred something looser; more latitude for designing my own Mandalas with a simple idea or direction given for "guidance". Actually, it's probably better to just create you own mandalas completely from scratch! There's probably plenty of mandala information free on the web, if you are interested in the history and/or the multitude of ways in which they are used today.
Book Description
Beautiful and enlightening, these classical mandalas include rose window designs from the cathedrals of Europe, Navajo sand paintings, Hindu yantras, traditional Buddhist thangka scroll designs, and motifs from illuminated Celtic manuscripts. As a symbol of the spiritual journey, the mandala expresses our yearning for the sacred and for knowledge and experience of the infinite. By coloring mandalas, we become focused on their complex symmetry and come to contemplate the divinity at our own center. With detailed directions on coloring techniques — either on the page or the computer screen—as well as charts explaining Chinese and Hindu color symbolism, this collection offers an irresistible invitation to a rewarding creative activity which is also a rich meditative experience.
Customer Reviews:
Nice but . . ........2007-09-30
This book has nice designs--and lots of them. Also, there's one design per page; they're NOT printed back-to-back like all of the Dover Coloring Books--I mostly use markers to color and they bleed through the page onto the next design if back-to-back rendering the next design unusable. However, this book is hard-bound, not spiral bound like Susanne Fincher's wonderful 3 volumes. I like to fold the book back on itself so I can color--and you can't do that with this one.
World Mandalas: Cultural captions and more.......2007-01-22
Very inspiring book. Mandalas from different cultures allow for an insight to the core of these cultures and for the establishment of a relationship between symbols and archetypes. And of course there is always ample room for creative ventures through coloring.
100 Mandalas From Five Spiritual Traditions.......2006-09-06
"Mandalas symbolize the presence of the sacred in the realm of the mundane. Mathematicians tell us that the point at the centre of a circle is dimensionless. This `essence' is contained within a limited space bounded by a circumference. Thus, by its very nature, the mandala is a symbol of the boundless and the eternal at the heart of circumscribed everyday reality." - From the book
From the Pantheon in Rome to Chartres Cathedral in France, from the exquisite images painted by the 11th century Benedictine abbess Hildegard of Bingen to Hindu yantras, sacred circles appear in architecture, art, and even nature itself. Mandalas, a word derived from the Sanskrit word meaning "circle" or "sacred center", are universal patterns that serve as symbols of wholeness, well being, time, community, nature, and the spiritual journey.
According to author Madonna Gauding, by contemplating the mandala, we discover the divinity at our own center. In her book World Mandalas: 100 New Designs for Colouring and Meditation, Gauding explains the role of mandalas in five traditions: Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Celtic, and Native American. The first part of the book, illustrated with vibrant, full-color images, introduces readers to the various expressions of mandalas, including how they serve as powerful spiritual and psychological symbols. Gauding also describes the many meanings of color as viewed by Chinese medicine, traditional associations, and the Hindu chakra system.
Why color mandalas? Besides being an enjoyable pastime, the author expresses that coloring intricate designs demand mental focus akin to the concentration you can develop through meditation. This focus can allow unconscious thoughts and feelings to emerge, as well as flashes of inspiration and solutions to problems. The author provides ten ways to use coloring mandalas:
1. Relax and center for stress relief
2. Establish your true self
3. Feel integrated and whole
4. Face up to problems
5. Problem solve
6. Generate creativity
7. Learn from color choices
8. Share your best self
9. Find your spiritual path
10. Heal yourself
For example, if you feel overwhelmed by the many roles you play, you could color a mandala to feel integrated and whole. Gauding suggests choosing a mandala with a complex design, then write down a list of the many roles you play in life. Then list both positive and negative qualities associated with those roles. Begin coloring the mandala, using as many shades and techniques as you can. After completing the design, take a moment to reflect on these roles and qualities. Do you feel more accepting and loving of who you are? she asks.
World Mandalas provides 100 blank mandalas from five spiritual traditions for coloring and meditation. They are large and easily reproducible using a scanner or photocopier. The mandalas are one-sided, so you don't have to worry about color bleeding through if you use markers or paints. (Although I'd recommend putting paper between pages, just in case.)
I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my writing hand, so coloring mandalas can be quite painful. However, I enjoyed coloring one of the Hindu mandalas with watercolor pencils, which depicted "the five ingredients for Tantric practices". I found all of the mandalas to be quite beautiful; I could feel a sense of peace just looking at them in an uncolored state! I wish I didn't have CTS so I could color mandalas as I used to; I find the process very calming and centering. It is, indeed, akin to meditation. I own several mandala coloring books, and I believe World Mandalas by Madonna Gauding has the most contemplative, attractive mandalas of them all. Highly recommended!
One of the Best.......2006-07-29
I just love this coloring book! I have Multiple Slerosis and Fibromyalgia and several other syndromes and disabled. Coloring mandalas is a great relaxation and spiritual tool. In this particular book (I have dozens), the mandalas are printed on nice paper for markers and are big. Not as challenging as some of my other mandala/spiritual/ethnic coloring books as it has the larger pictures instead of pictures with a lot on tiny details. So I use the larger pictures for when I am in relapse and shakey. It is a really great (thick)book and the price was excellent! I LOVE IT! Coloring is not just for little kids, kids over 50 love it too!
Book Description
Some Indian mandala patterns are more than 5,000 years old. This book features both traditional and modern motifs such as embroidered handicrafts, geometric mazes and knots, peacocks, and lotuses. Monika Helwig’s stylized versions of these classic patterns make this book an ideal diversion as well as a learning experience.
Customer Reviews:
very detailed.......2007-05-12
If you like small detail work in your mandalas, this is the book for you. I prefer larger more open designs, and did not enjoy the intricate coloring work that had to be done in this book. But for those who prefer a smaller, detailed design, this will be a great book, thje designs are beautiful.
Book Description
Monique Mandali, author of three popular volumes of Everyone's Mandala Coloring Books, is celebrating the millennium by bringing children together in her fourth coloring book. "Mandalas are found in all cultures and truly express unity of spirit within humanity's diversity," says Monique. "I hope that coloring Peace Mandalas designed by girls and boys from around the world will spread seeds of harmony for the next one thousand years." Coloring mandalas is relaxing, soothing the body, mind, and spirit, and is a fun activity for anyone ages 4 to 104.
Customer Reviews:
Not worth the money.......2005-01-05
I bought 2 of these books for my 8 and 10 year old daughters based on the 3 prior reviews. They both love art and were not impressed by this book, neither was I. Most of the mandalas are very simplistic so if you want to color anything intricate, then you have to add lines, circles, etc, to the existing designs. Your own kids can probably make their own mandalas to color which will be just as good, or better than the ones in this book. If I had paid only $4.95 or so for this book, then I would up the stars to 3. Don't buy it.
Expanding the Center to Other Cultures .......2004-03-04
I purchased the whole series. The special charm I feel in this volume is the access offered through a gentle, inviting and intuitive medium to reach and feel the desire for peace expressed from the hearts of children around the world. I don't think it can be described adequately in words, but instead must be experienced. Monique continues to add her own gift, the balances between lines and open forms. The user -- whether a child or adult -- still has the space to doodle, play or design their own contributions and by doing so intuitively reach a greater whole. When its done, I feel that the process still engages my deepest being but now expands the connection across cultures and generations. The freedom to fill in these spaces with whatever textures and designs my heart and spirit create is exactly the essence of what makes them work. Imagine. Something so uncomplicated, relaxing, truly pleasureable to young and old alike -- yet still opens the heart to peace, hope and healing. Perhaps they should become a "required" activity at Global Summits, UN talks, and daily breakfast fare on Capital Hill.

Creative Kids make Mandalas a success.......2000-08-25
We had a great Halloween party last year with the last Mandala coloring book. There's nothing like seeing werewolves, princesses and tofu (two of my friends wearing large white boxes) sitting around a table and coloring beautiful designs. It really helped to get people to meet each other in a mellow way. When we heard this book was out, it was a must for the fall birthdays coming up with our nieces and nephews, as well as for this year's Halloween party. The children are really creative. It's especially interesting to see the designs from the Nepalese children. They're very intricate.
Peace Mandala Coloring Book.......2000-08-18
The Peace Mandala Coloring Book is my favorite of the mandala coloring books by Monique Mandali. The mandalas are fun and the kids captured the "peace" message better than any of us adults could ever do! I'm buying it as a gift for a nine year old and for my 84-year old Mother.

Customer Reviews:
A Great Gift Idea!.......2007-01-11
I have purchased many of the Mandala Designs coloring books for my mom who is 83 and in perfect health. She continues to live in her own home, drives around town and nearby towns, and is active socially with church activities.
However, there are those days when Mom gets a little down due to seasonal depression, and these coloring books are just the way to pass her time!
What lovely work! I have to admire her patience in completing each design so intricately and beautifully. I find that I'm having a difficult time keeping up with the speed at which she completes her books!
They are a great tool for aiding the young during times of bereavement, just for fun on a rainy day, the elderly who are homebound, those who ill, and anyone who loves to color!
I love to color these designs even though I have quite a busy schedule. A very relaxing hobby!
Purchase one, color it, and feel yourself relax!

Playing and Celebrating in the Center.......2004-03-04
I purchased the whole series. I keep coming back. Its a treat combining one of the best pleasures of childlike doodling with intuitive ramblings on a deeper level. I'm still wholly engaged every time I enter a new one. I'm not sure there could be any "wasted" designs, just ones that appeal to me differently on different days. I'm close to thinking that one day I'll buy these volumes again just for the chance to experience their centers and colors differently. No matter which one I tune in to for the moment, they still have that uncanny quality of helping my work and worries fade so that my center become clearer and rest seems more possible.
Everyone's Mandala Coloirng Book Series.......2000-09-13
The designs and the story make these unique!.......1999-07-06
My love affair with these coloring books has only intensified with the publication of Volume 3! The author's experiences and "story" which inspired this volume are infectious in their appeal. What continues to amaze me is that fact that, depending upon the day, the moment, whatever, individual designs leap out at me. A design that draws me to it one time is rarely the same design that attracts me so forcefully another time. Ahhhh - mandalas. After being exposed to them by Monique, I now see them every where! Hurray! They make the world a better place! Plus, I'm never at a loss for a good gift! I give them to people of all ages who all love them! Keep them coming, Monique!
Another wonderful mandala coloring book by Monique.......1999-06-15
Monique's third book may just be my favorite. I really like her personal story in the preface (check it out on her website). I love how she ties East and West together in these mandalas. Monique: don't stop now. When are you coming out with Volume 4?
