4 out of 5 stars If You've Ever Thought of Revenge..........2007-07-09

The series is of a Sisterhood, created by a very wealthy Mrya, whose daughter was killed by the son of diplomat in a hit and run incident. The son could not be prosecuted due to his diplomatic status. The other members of the group also have been through experiences where the justice system let them down. Add in an ex spy and it is a fun tale of revenge. Each book takes on the case of one of the sisters in the sisterhood.

Actually, this is the second time I have read this book. I read it two years ago, not knowing that it was the beginning of a series. I recently came upon the next few books in the series and didn't remember enough of this book, so I read it again. It was just as fun the second time around. It is outrageous in parts and could never happen, but the idea of it is amusing. It is a fast, escapist read.

5 out of 5 stars Fern Michaels Sisterhood series.......2007-05-30

What a concept; reeking revenge on those who hide from the law. And women too! Great stories that keep you turning the page and waiting for the next in the series. I had to go back and buy the first ones to complete the series so far. Just bought the latest too!

5 out of 5 stars Opening Salvo!.......2007-05-17

Mystery fans alert. I came to this book late in the series: fiction impells the reader, for a few hours, to suspend belief. Fern Michaels' Sisterhood Series does just that for anyone who has had to endure an injustice. The unfairness of any situation, major or minor, where the victim cannot strike back endures for a lifetime, for both sexes.
Ms. Michaels' beginner "Weekend Warriors" pulls the reader back to discover the connections and events leading to later books. A delightful read, anytime. Nash Black, "Taxes, Stumbling Blocks and Pitfalls 2007" and "Qualifying Laps."

5 out of 5 stars Weekend Warriors.......2007-03-14

I really enjoyed this book. I have read all the books in this series and I like anything by Fern Michaels.

4 out of 5 stars Fern Michaels - One of My Favorite Authors.......2007-03-03

I've enjoyed this entire series and this one, although as far fetched as the others kept me interested. A quick read, good for a plane or the beach.

Book Description

Natalie and Tom have been best friends forever, but Tom wants them to be much more. When Natalie's longtime boyfriend walks out on her just when she thinks he's going to propose, Tom offers her a different and wildly romantic proposition. He suggests that they spend twenty-six weekends together, indulging in twenty-six different activities from A to Z, and at the end of that time Tom's convinced they'll be madly in love. Natalie, however, is not so sure.

As Natalie's touring the alphabet with Tom, her mother's going through her own romantic crisis—while Tom's unhappily married sister-in-law, Lucy, struggles with temptation. And over the course of six amazing months, three generations of passionate dreamers are going to discover that, no matter how clever they are, love—and life—is never as easy as A, B, C . . .

1 out of 5 stars CONFUSING . . . SAVE YOUR $.......2007-10-18

Ok, so this book has WAY too many "people" involved. I was drawn to it because I was wandering NEW books at the library and came across the creative title and colorful book jacket. While reading the back, I was curious. I got it home and broke it open in bed that night . . . I gave it 30 pages and was done. I wanted to know much more about Tom and Natalie's past . . .not all the rest of the characters (which should have been involved but not in 1st person also!)

So it will be going back and I will not be finishing it. If you want to give it a try, I advise saving your money and checking it out of your local library.

5 out of 5 stars Loving It!!!.......2007-09-26

I am more than half- way through this totally delightful, funny, yet poignant novel. I am shocked that women are confused by the characters. This is not difficult reading. It is light chic lit. I would think eighth graders could easlily keep track of the well drawn characters (though the content is not appropriate for that age group). If you are of average intelligence you should have NO trouble reading this book. Natalie and Tom are so cute and clever with each other, even though Natalie has not yet realized that they are so well suited. I love receiving history of what happened to each character prior to the current story line, (from the author), discovering what has brought each character to the place where they are now. This is the kind of novel to read when you want to get lost in a book. Nothing else is getting done around my house today. All I want to do is read! Don't let those who are clearly not the sharpest readers, sway you away from buying and reading this lovely, simply fun book.

5 out of 5 stars What a great idea!!!.......2007-09-14

I absolutely LOVED this book! I did not find the jumps from the different character stories to be confusing at all, due to the way that Ms. Noble was able to connect them all so seamlessly to one another. If anything, these different perspectives served to aide in the advancement of the plot and the creation of depth within the storyline. Could one say that the ending might turn out to be a bit obvious? ...Maybe... But who cares?! It was a great read!
Moreover, a FANTASTIC idea - getting to know someone better by sharing experiences from all over the alphabet! Brilliant! I'm happily married and I plan to make a proposal to my husband that we play our own "Alphabet Game" with activities in and around our home city of Philadelphia and the surrounding places on the East Coast! I can't wait to see what he'll come up with and what spice we can add to our relationship as a result! I'd recommend this novel to ANYONE!!!

5 out of 5 stars each plot was great!.......2007-06-12

I loved this book. I loved that there were several story lines and each was different. In the beginning the author writes as though you just came upon each relationship, and you as the reader have to figure out how these people are related to each other. To some that seems confusing, but I thought it was fun once I figured out how everyone knew each other. (don't worry there aren't that many characters to figure out!) I never got bored by this book because I was eager to find out what happened in each relationship. I really enjoyed reading it and I recommend it for a light read that has a little bit of everything: romance, friendship, betrayal, etc.

2 out of 5 stars Very Annoying!.......2007-06-11

I rarely find a book that I can't put down, but I can't seem to force myself to pick this one back up! It is extremely confusing to read and the writing is done in a way that you never know who is "talking". I haven't read this author before and I highly doubt that I will again. The story lines are too fractured and scattered. Leave this one on the shelf.

4 out of 5 stars Sweet Dreams..........2007-07-29

I really enjoyed this pleasant, good natured book. It's perfect if you want a nice, romantic light read and aren't up to being challenged, which how I usually feel at the end of a long work day. Relaxing and perfect for those who like to read for awhile before going to sleep...

1 out of 5 stars Terrible Book.......2007-02-26

First of all, I am not a book snob. I enjoy the sometimes silly, fun books that don't have great depth but are still an entertaining read.

That being said, this was probably one of the worst books I have ever read in my life. First of all, everything was absolutely formulaic. You could always tell what would happen next, and the cliches just kept coming. From a young male French bohemian artist who isn't looking for anything but a fun hookup to his rich, suave and debonair father, there is nothing new in the characters, or even any likable traits. The "heroine" is one of the most stupid that had ever come into fictional being. A "very smart" girl who moves from a small town to London, who is stuck in a job she feels is beneath her, decides to go to Paris for the weekend. More cliches, but if that were all, it would be at least bearable. This girl, however, is unbelievably naive. She meets the artist one night, and 3 or 4 hours later she is "in love" with him and planning their transnational relationship. When she finally sleeps with him, she doesn't get that he's "just not that into her." She cannot stand up for herself and is one of the most annoying characters I have ever read.

Still, I could have read all this and just ended up disliking the book immensely, but not wanting to tear my hair out, if it wasn't for the part about the father.

The "cleverly and subtly included" hints and clues (note sarcasm) about her father were in actuality totally obvious. And what happens at the end is much too contrived and based on too many coincidences that don't even really make any sense. A deus ex machina is not the way to end a story, sorry.

This story is totally unbelievable and left me wondering how on earth something like this could be published. Don't waste your money.

3 out of 5 stars My own Weekend in Paris.......2007-02-10

Absolutely true story... Two weeks ago, I had to go away to Paris for the weekend due to a family matter. I had 3 hours to pack, dress, and get to the airport. To avoid dying from boredom, I rummaged through by book collection for something to keep me sane. And, there it was "Weekend in Paris".
I must say I was completely entertained. There was no time to buy a guide book and it was fun looking and encountering the landmarks the author described in her book. She also noted a lot of French words and phrases which actually came in handy.
If you find yourself jet setting through Paris for the weekend, I would totally recommend this book. If you're looking for something with depth and meaning, keep looking!
PS. Just in case you're wondering, my weekend was nothing like Molly's.

4 out of 5 stars Weekend in Paris.......2006-12-22

Weekend in Paris is a great book about Molly Clearwater's trip to Paris for the weekend.
It is a very fun and interesting book and if you want to have a big laugh I really recommends you to read the book.
Molly is a fun and person who always gets in trouble and makes mistakes. I think that the book is fun because you can read about her thoughts and that makes the book very fun.
When I started to read the book I thought that it was a boring book, but when I've finished it I was really sad because it was over. I wanted the book to be much longer than it was (389 pages).

While I enjoyed the humor, it didn't suck me in. I love books that you look up and it 3am. I took more than a week to finish the book, just because I couldn't stay focused in the beginning. I have enjoyed other books by Robyn Sisman, but this one left me annoyed at the end.

OK, so those days of wine, roses, and boundless lust are just a bit of dusty memory, off in the hinterland of youth, before kids, stress, and that most deadly foe of romance--routine--derailed the passion. Sex experts Pepper Schwartz and Janet Lever offer no magical elixirs of youth, just a weekend guide to re-ignited love, road-tested by diligent researchers, with specifics on how to partake of a weekend away that's devoted to recovering intimacy and the pleasures of the flesh. Plan your getaway together and fantasize about it; declare a moratorium on work talk and focus on one another; break old patterns and experiment with new techniques (all delineated in the book). Age may not be a state of mind, but good sex certainly is, and it's a state that can be recaptured.--Stephanie Gold

2 out of 5 stars Didn't really teach us anything new.......2007-09-10

This book is alright for people that haven't had sex in over 6 months but it didn't really teach me and my husband much. It is mostly about setting a mood and things to buy, which most people already know. The only helpful tip was to get a blue light for your bedroom.

5 out of 5 stars Best way to re-jump-start your intimate relationship.......2004-02-21

I'm a therapist who's worked with a lot of couples and this is a common complaint - the spark is missing, sex is routine or doesn't happen enough, or one person is tired of always being the initiator. As long as there are no serious marital problems, this is a great approach - it really is a big boost to intimacy, and a lot more fun than the mostly "in your head" exercises in most books on rekindling desire. It's also kind of neat to plot the weekend together without family or friends knowing what you're up to. That by itself helps to strengthen the intimate boundary around the two of you. And yes, we did "road-test" the book, and it really did have a lasting effect on our relationship. Just the anticipation was enough to put us onto a different level. And afterward, we continued to be a lot more open with each other about what we like, and have been more daring and willing to try new things than ever before in our 28 years of marriage. Don't worry if you don't have the energy to do all of what they suggest, or get the order all changed around. The main thing is to make your mutual pleasure your only priority. And that carries over quite nicely into your everyday life. Also, don't worry if you have a hard time getting used to giving constant feedback to each other - that's a skill that it's hard to develop in one weekend - but it's also a good reason to schedule more weekends at regular intervals. This book can be the best gift you could ever give your partner, because just giving the book sends the message that you want your relationship to be kicked up a notch, and it does it without doing any criticizing or complaining - since any couple can get bored or busy, your partner is a lot less likely to feel defensive. (Saying it's for "bored or busy" people is a great way to make it more palatable, just like the "for dummies" series did). It's now on my small shelf of top books to recommend to clients, no matter how long they've been together, or what age they may be.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!.......2001-05-09

I'm only 18, but this book truly applies to all ages and all walks of life! Finally, an author who stresses foreplay and romance, not just sex. My cousin says Schwartz's son is the best lover she's ever experienced, so I know it must be genetic! The book was great; my fiance and I truly enjoyed each and EVERY detail.

5 out of 5 stars 2 busy, 2 tired, 2 stressed? Find 2 days.......2001-05-08

Like many who've been married for decades, sex became a back-burner item. Stresses of work, kids, community and everyday life meant no time. We talked about missing our love life, but found little chance to do anything about it.

This book helped us put things into perspective. We took a long weekend. We got back in touch with each other. We put a lot of joy back into the relationship.

If you're in love, but not making love, get this book and follow its suggestions. You'll be glad you did.

4 out of 5 stars chocolate chips.......2001-01-09

I really enjoyed this book. Great for people in relationships, as some of the instruction books are either too technical or too geared at just the act. This is a great guide for setting the romantic tone, destressing, and reigniting the sensuous feelings that got you togther in the first place. It has a checklist of goodies to bring or get like candles, music, feathers, etc. This is a great resource if you have the passion in your relationship but other things, like work or school :) get in the way. What I like is that the author's focus on relaxing, no work talk, etc. I highly recommend this book for couples. The title should say great romantic sex weekend, b/c that's what we had. P.S. I recommend chocolate chips and candles at the very least ;) and have a great weekend

5 out of 5 stars Sassy and Sweet.......2006-11-22

I really enjoyed the romance between Nora and Blake. She's so very endearingly clumsy and her attempts at being sophisticated made me giggle. Blake may sound like the stereotypically arrogant alpha male we've all known from romance books, but he's really honest and quite sweet. Now, this doesn't mean that this book wasn't hot and sexy! Because there were some pretty well-written bedroom scenes that rounded this book out. It had a unique plot (as all of Susan Napier's books do) and the characters were fleshed out really well. So well that even though they've only known each other for a short period of time, you get to know them and believe in their romance. I really, really enjoyed Mistress For a Weekend - worth every penny!

5 out of 5 stars Romantic, memorable dialog&scenes.......2006-10-30

Mistress for a Weekend was one of the best love stories I've read in a long time. It was funny, fast-moving and very sexy. Not to mention loveable characters.
Tycoon Blake MacLeod thinks Nora has something special - confidential information. And he'll keep her in his bed to prevent her giving it away. Blake is really a sweet charachter which is shown with the way he works to win Nora's love, how she understands her fobia etc.

If you enjoy reading romances that are pure escape, romantic, with memorable dialogue & scenes, Cinderella-type romances, I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars A must-read! A story full of passion, caring with funny moments........2006-09-08

This is one hot book! From cover to cover the relationship is steamy. Not much of those distracting & irritating dishonest by-play of words, keeping them from saying what they really feel about each other. The hero is attractive, wealthy, confident and surprisingly honest about his wants and needs. The heroine may be clumsy & awkward at times, but lovable in her sincerity & attempts at sophistication. I couldn't put it down. This is the first time I read a book from this author, but it certainly won't be the last.

This lovely book can be read as a sexy novel that follows four couples through a weekend of reconnection. In that respect, the book succeeds magnificently. As far as following the authors' plans, a "do-it-yourself couple" will probably have much less success than the portrayed ones. Nevertheless, there are some helpful ideas for overcoming long-standing relationship issues. Archetypes of Shakti and Shiva might prove useful visualizations to some partners.

5 out of 5 stars BEST book on intimacy I've ever read........2006-11-08

I am a very conservative Christian and I approve of this book. I believe that all truth is God's truth and this book has many truths in it. As Christians we need to open our minds and not be put off by "new age" vocabulary like chakra and goddess. I don't believe that my wife is a litteral goddess; I believe that there is only one god. However, my wife can be appreciated, revered, and respected in a way that the authors might define as "worship". This book really helps couples focus on intimacy issues. The resolution of these issues enables earth shattering sex. My wife and I have never been so AMAZED by the exercises and so physically intuned. This book has really helped me fulfill my biblical mandate to my wife and we have been truely "one". You will not be disappointed by this book IF you stick to the exercises and do the work, AND look past the new age word choice.

I have tried some of the ideas in this book, and they are just what we need to rekindle the spark.

    Book Description

They are four lifelong friends, with challenging careers and demanding families. And for one weekend each year they let their hair down and are as bad as they want to be. But this time it goes too far.

Ann, Maria, Sabrina and Deb gather at a remote cabin on California's north coast to embark on a sacred rite of sisterhood -- their annual weekend devoted to girl talk and gossip, kicked up with a soupçon of naughtiness on the side. But no more than twenty-four hours into the weekend, the best friends are suddenly partners in crime.

Nursing world-class hangovers, they wake to find Hughie -- the sexy drifter they met in the local cowboy bar and their impromptu houseguest -- in the hot tub, floating facedown and most definitely dead. Hastily they decide to bury the corpse and resolve to never again speak of the gruesome event. But the impossible leads to the unthinkable when a road crew digs up the hapless Hughie a month later, still shrouded in Ann's expensive pink Porthault blanket. Of all the absurdities life dishes out, why does it have to be a cleaning tag that does them in?

As the women frantically plot their alibis, they become instant fodder for a media feeding frenzy. In the midst of the trauma, the bonds of marriage and family, as well as their lifelong friendships, are starting to fray. One wild weekend has changed their lives forever, but the question remains -- which one of them will pay?

    5 out of 5 stars A great summer read.......2004-06-30

This is the ideal summer novel. It has mystery, risque behavior, honest human interaction, and a surprise ending. The plot moves fast, with four different suspects, a police detective like Columbo, and a lot of genuine woman-to-woman, mother-daughter interaction displayed in crisp dialogue. A special recommended read for those who imagine themselves taking a walk on the wild side. And it's all set in the most beautiful Northern California locales.

2 out of 5 stars Crazy and realistic..........2004-06-04

Ann, Maria, Sabrina, and Deb meet once a year for a girl's weekend out involving too much gossip, booze, and a dash of naughty fun if they can find it. The stakes get jumped up a notch when they run across a handsome drifter in a bar. They only meant to give him a ride to the nearby campgrounds, but the night is dark and wet and he's easy on the eyes. They take him home for a bit of flirting and dancing, maybe more. Yet, when morning comes, the stranger is dead and they have to figure out how to cover up the events of the last night. One mistake stands between them and a courtroom, and once that mistake is made, their lives are forever turned upside down. Tabloids make their lives front page news; their friendships are tested, and secrets they did not even know existed come to light. The drifter was more than he seemed, and that fact may get the women a ticket to death row.

** For all it's craziness, this is a realistic read, especially if you live in Texas. It's racy and slapstick. The author uses a second person point of view that can be rather disconcerting; a more normal third or even first person pov would have been an easier read. **

5 out of 5 stars remind readers of the Hitchcock movie The Trouble with Harry.......2004-05-26

For ages the four females would share women's only weekend together near the Golden Gate Bridge. Sabrina, Maria, Ann, and Deb look forward to this year as each has personnel trouble to deal with and escape feels good. At a bar, the four meet Hughie; Since he needs a place to stay and seems like a nice chap, they invite him back to spend the night at their lodging. The next morning they find their guest dead. The quartet decides to bury the drifter so that they would not have to deal with the police.

The women go on with their lives until a road crew dig up Hughie's corpse. The FBI begin making inquiries including questioning the four friends. Will one break and tell the truth or will they remain in solidarity as evidence mounts that they may have done more than inter a dead person and tamper with a crime scene?

This dark comedy will remind readers of the Hitchcock movie The Trouble with Harry. The story line is action-packed and fast-paced as the women jump from one disaster into another. Still the reason the tale is fun is the four pleasant females each has a distinctive personality that surfaces when they conduct the funeral service and when the Feds come after them.

5 out of 5 stars Not Only for Romance, and Very Up-to-Date.......2004-01-18

I bought this book after seeing what a stellar job it did of choosing restaurants in my hometown, Pittsburgh. They identified most of my favorite restaurants, including my very favorite, which is such a hole-in-the-wall that many lifelong Pittsburghers don't know it exists. It included all price ranges.

We chose a West Virginia bed and breakfast out of this book, and it was an amazing place. The book named old favorites in many locations in the region, and introduced us to some of our new favorites.

The books says it is available in 2-3 days. As a matter of fact, I am waiting for it now since almost two weeks and it is not shipped yet. So in case you need it before you go on vacation, don't buy it! Otherwise, I like it.

    Book Description

Kaitlin Davis has moved back to Seattle, Washington, to take an executive job and to put behind her the remnants of a twelve-year relationship. But when she meets her new boss, Cynthia Perry, Kaitlin knows that she is in trouble. Soon she finds herself giving in to the kind of love she thought she would never know again.

    Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet.......2005-12-29

The text from the back cover isn't currently on this page, so I'm including it in this review...

"Kaitlan Davis has one big rule; never get involved with your boss. But, when her new boss turns out to be stunning and mysterious Cynthia Perry, Kaitlan finds that rules can be very hard to live by...

Kaitlan has moved back to Seattle, Washington to take an executive job at a manufacturing facility. Glad to put behind the remnants of a twelve year relationship that ended eight months before with her discovery that her lover had emptied their house and moved to another state with Kaitlan's best friend, Kaitlan is eager to throw herself into her new position.

When she meets her new boss, Vice President of accounts Cynthia Perry, Kaitlan knows she's in trouble. Stunning and self-assured, Cynthia's apparent flirtations with Kaitlan leave her in a quandry. But even though Kaitlan tries very hard to live by her rule of never getting involved with co-workers, Cynthia seems intent on getting to know her a lot better.

Finally giving in to her own desires, Kaitlan finds a love that she had thought she would never discover. But just when it seems her new life is perfect, her ex-lover shows up expecting to be taken back with open arms, and willing to do anything to keep Kaitlan all to herself."

This was an enjoyable read, but was only slightly longer than the description on the back cover. Unlike many books, the cover description actually describes the story very well. The only questionable part is the last sentence of the last paragraph -- it describes something much more dramatic than what actually happens.

If you're looking for something light to tide you over on a short plane ride, this isn't a poor choice of reading material. However, if you're looking for something deep and meaningful... something that will stick with you for days... try something else like a book by Radclyffe or Dunne.

    1 out of 5 stars what a disappointment.......2005-04-15

It is not the length of this book that is the problem, it's the quality. The premise was interesting, but the writing was full of holes and stale.
This is the first and last book of this writer that I'll waste my time reading.

    2 out of 5 stars HoHum!.......2002-08-25

As other reviewers have mentioned this book is short and the story is mirrors the brevity of the pages. I might have been more engaged if the author had provided more information on the protagnists.

3 out of 5 stars Good premise, not long enough.......2002-04-29

Overall, this book is a cute romance. However, the author could have developed the plot and the characters a lot more. The premise was great but I didn't like the Brady Bunch treatment of the story. The challenges and conflicts faced by the two protagonists were resolved too easily and much too quickly. Not bad if you're looking for a quick read that won't make you think too much.

    2 out of 5 stars Shallow!!.......2002-03-21

Even though the reviews say the book is short I still couldn't believe HOW short. This is a novella, a one-issue story without any real depth. Even so, shortness is no reason to have shallow characters (a 3-page short story can present a fully-realized, engaging character) and these two women were shallow. They had no complexity at all in their thought processes beyond "She's beautiful! Oh, I'm in love!"

I didn't want to know them and most romance novels make me yearn to meet the characters. I wouldn't recommend this at all. If you like shorter reads with more emotional depth, I'd recommend Peggy Herring.
