Book Description
Charlie Wilson's War was a publishing sensation and a New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times bestseller. In the early 1980s, a Houston socialite turned the attention of maverick Texas congressman Charlie Wilson to the ragged band of Afghan "freedom fighters" who continued, despite overwhelming odds, to fight the Soviet invaders. Wilson, who sat on the all-powerful House Appropriations Committee, managed to procure hundreds of millions of dollars to support the mujahideen. The arms were secretly procured and distributed with the help of an out-of-favor CIA operative, Gust Avrokotos, whose working-class Greek-American background made him an anomaly among the Ivy League world of American spies. Avrakotos handpicked a staff of CIA outcasts to run his operation and, with their help, continually stretched the Agency's rules to the breaking point. Moving from the back rooms of the Capitol, to secret chambers at Langley, to arms-dealers' conventions, to the Khyber Pass, this book presents an astonishing chapter of our recent past, and the key to understanding what helped trigger the sudden collapse of the Soviet Union and ultimately led to the emergence of a brand-new foe in the form of radical Islam.
Customer Reviews:
Hopefully, the movie doesn't screw up this story.......2007-10-05
There will be three main kinds of people who won't read this book. The first are those who see no reason for military intervention anywhere, ever. The second are those who are hypersensitive to any speaking of ethnicity, race, gender, etc., within a kilometer of earshot. The third are those who don't like long books, and "Charlie Wilson's War" is certainly longer than most. All this would be too bad, because the book is a wealth of little known and critical current history, as well as a real rip-snorting adventure. The most intriguing icing on the cake is that Charlie Wilson, one of the boldest and effective national-interest congressmen of the last century, was a Democrat. He was a Democrat who pushed Republicans forward for a decade, mostly to do the right things. How many right things, of course, remains to be seen in coming decades.
Much of the book is written in colloquial style, as the author reproduces many discussions among a very wide variety of people. This sometimes comes out sounding a little coarse, but the reader should see this quickly as a writer trying to be accurate. Charlie Wilson, the man himself, also might turn many readers off. He abused his body with food and drink, mostly drink; he was a maverick to the point of almost being a loose canon; wild, he certainly was. No one, though, can deny that he was one of those rarest of politicians. Here was a man who did not stop with saying what he wanted to do, he found ways to do what needed to be done. Then he kept at it, and at it. Here was a man of his word.
This interesting story suffers only a small weakness as a narrative, and only if the reader minds. The action chapter by chapter, even section by section, does not always tell us what was happening at the same time with other people, and at other places. Rather, the author likes to keep a thread of a theme or thought and follow it to the end. This can be irritating and a little confusing if you are trying to keep things straight for any particular group of years at a time. If this does not make a problem for reader, then so much the better. A last suggestion: this book goes down especially well by audio CD, and the voice narrator does well with dialogs and accents.
A great true story.......2007-10-04
This is a truly amazing tale. Never told until now and soon a movie. Buy this book and read the true story about how a "wild" congressman and a rogue CIA agent changed history. Better by far than all those fictional adventures!
four and 1/2 stars........2007-10-01
steve coll's excellent book "ghost wars" whet my reading appetite for more on the soviet war in afghanistan. since that military action, with the unanticipated consequences it spawned for the united states, was such a catalyst for the 9/11 attacks, it seems essential for an american to get a grip on what took place there. "charlie wilson's war" is a thrilling account of that international drama. though much of the book deals with funding america's covert involvement through congressional appropriation subcommittees, and with CIA office politics, the narrative is interesting page for page throughout this long work. not once did i find it a chore to continue, or feel an urge to skip past anything. george crile brings the colorful personalities of those involved to vivid life through his clear prose. he actually makes appropriation subcommitees, and their methods of work, interesting. and his portraits of afghanistan and pakistan, and their respective political environments and key political players, is brilliantly executed. the story is told completely from the american perspective, true. you will have to seek elsewhere for a more balanced view (by this i mean one that takes into account the soviet soldiers side of things). but this book being what it is, is a fascinating read, and one you can learn much from.
Great.......2007-09-08
One of the most intriguing stories of American foreign policy making. This book was recommended to me by a staffer for a military oriented Congressional committee. He was quite emphatic in stressing that this book, better than any other, offers a great perspective on the influence Congress can have on foreign and war policy. I don't know how representative it is of the day to day activities of members of Congress, but it certainly shows how a dedicated member of Congress CAN get seriously involved in an issue.
Charlie Wilson is one of the most interesting politicians to have walked on the stage in the past 50 years. Part JFK, Nixon, LBJ, and Clinton - both good and bad parts - Wilson was a smart and dedicated defender of CIA efforts to support the mujaheden in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. More than any supposed hardline conservative, including President Reagan, Wilson, a socially liberal Democrat from Texas, was the most agressive elected official to back the CIA in its anti-Soviet effort in Afghanistan. Wilson was also wildly able to get in the worst kinds of trouble: womanizing, drunk driving, and questionable uses of public money. I guess it goes to show that people are incredibly complex and contain a much more dynamic mix of good and bad within them. Kind of like the Incredible Hulk, but with less green.
Hard to read.......2007-08-29
Content was OK, I'm sure acurate, but about 210 pages into this 500+ page book I had to give in - I just couldn't make myself want to read it. I am only 31, so I do not know of Charlie Wilson, or the political temperature in the 80s, but this book was recommended to me so I tried, but couldn't make myself do it.

For the first time in a decade, Willy Wonka, the reclusive and eccentric chocolate maker, is opening his doors to the public--well, five members of the public to be exact. The lucky five who find a Golden Ticket in their Wonka chocolate bars will receive a private tour of the factory, given by Mr. Wonka himself. For young Charlie Bucket, this a dream come true. And, when he finds a dollar bill in the street, he can't help but buy two Wonka's Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delights--even though his impoverished family could certainly use the extra dollar for food. But as Charlie unwraps the second chocolate bar, he sees the glimmer of gold just under the wrapper! The very next day, Charlie, along with his unworthy fellow winners Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Augustus Gloop, steps through the factory gates to discover whether or not the rumors surrounding the Chocolate Factory and its mysterious owner are true. What they find is that the gossip can't compare to the extraordinary truth, and for Charlie, life will never be the same again. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, another unforgettable masterpiece from the legendary Roald Dahl, never fails to delight, thrill, and utterly captivate. (Ages 9 to 12)
Book Description
The classic tale of fantasy, this delightful masterpiece depicts all sorts of characters: greedy, selfish, obnoxious, compassionate, loveable, and generous. Recounting the adventures of four children bent on having their own way, the story's moralistic factor becomes uproariously apparent early on.

A FUNNY BOOK TO READ!.......2007-10-02
My name is Schuyler®. I read Charlie & the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Charlie is one fifth of the lucky children that get to go into the chocolate factory. Some of the wildest things happen. The book is hilarious. I recommend it and give it five stars.
My Favorite Book of All-Time.......2007-09-23
Roald Dahl is one of my favorite authors of all-time but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has so many elements to the book that make it so great. I think this book would be perfect for middle school kids because of the fantasy part of the book that gets kids thinking beyond what they perceive reality as, it gets them thinking outside the box. Another thing that this book builds is curiosity, in the book the kids are curious to see what is really inside the factory. There is never a boring part of the book. This book also teaches the point of never giving up because Charlie finally won the golden ticket. A great book...
Charlie and the choclate factory.......2007-06-13
Have you ever wanted to see inside of a chocolate factory? Well in this book a kid named Charlie gets that chance. He finds a golden ticket in the rapper of a chocolate bar. So he and his grandpa along with all the other kids that found tickets get to go to take a tour of the factory. Why they are in there some pretty interesting things happen to all the kids. Each kid finds a way to get in trouble in there own way.
My favorite part of this book is when Charlie and his grandma get in trouble. They drink so soda that makes them float and have to find a way down. Then they think no one saw them but they get caught in the end.
I believe that the theme of this book is that "good things happen to good people. I think this cause Charlie is a nice boy and very good things happen to him. He is quickly rewarded for performing good deeds.
Overall this was a pretty good book. The beginning is a little long and boring but after that it is good book. This is probably a book meant for kids 10 to 13. This book has a lot of imagination in it.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.......2007-06-06
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is about a boy named Charlie Bucket, a small boy who lived a very poor. Until one day, as he walked alongside the road, his eye caught a dollar bill. What do you think he does with it? He spends it on two bars of chocolate. One of them contained a golden ticket to Mr. Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, and Wonka is the world's greatest chocolate maker. Charlie gets a tour of the factory with four other children: Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Mike Teavee.
I would most likely recommend this book to children because it's whimsical and funny. I'd rate this book a five because it really gets my attention. This is also the reason why I like this book. If you think you might like this book, then try reading it.

So much better than the flicks.......2007-08-23
These books have the potential to tell a zombie story with no end. Such is a desire of many lovers of the genre--including Kirkman, who states at the end of this book how he's always wanted to know 'what happens next.' The story is typical zombie fare, but that is a strength rather than a weakness. With nightmarish illustrations, Kirkman depicts a post-zombification world filled with the similar kind desperation one saw in the old films. It's refreshing that he hasn't tried to reinvent the genre.
Robert Kirkman should not be allowed to ever write again........2007-07-25
When I read about this book, I was excited because I love the Zombie genre. Plus, I saw some of the artwork and it looked good. So, I order this book and when it arrived I read it right away. And boy was it terrible. Kirkman needs to learn how to write. This is the worst dialogue I have ever read. All the character repeat themselves two, sometimes three, times. There will be a page of action then the next two pages will be the characters talking about what we just saw!!! This guy can't fill a story. It's 80% filler. And the human relationships and motives are so unrealistic and poorly executed... I just recently bought "Marvel Zombies" not realizing he wrote it and I found that his bad writing wasn't a one time deal. In one panel it reads: "We're almost ready--get over here! This won't work if we don't all fire at the same time." NEXT PANEL: "Like I say--We've got to fire at the same time--if not--it won't work." 'LIKE I SAY'?!? You mean, in the previous panel? Why say something once when you can say it twice? Don't they have editors for this very reason? Be prepared for that kind of constant recapping if you buy this book.
Disappointed.......2007-07-10
One star is for the art. The other star is for the idea. The lack of the last three stars is because there is nothing else in this book that deserves one. With all the advancements that graphic novels have made over the years, this book takes a huge leap backwards. The book feels like it was written by a 12 year-old. The dialogue is horrible, the spelling and grammatical errors are annoying, and the author has absolutely no faith in his readers. Kirkman seems to feel a need to spell everything out for his readers, like he's afraid that you won't get it otherwise. He fills dialogue with huge amounts of seemingly useless information in an attempt to give us back-story or exposition. I thought that this was an adult graphic novel, but after reading the first hundred pages or so, I realized that the only thing qualifying this book for mature audiences is the ridiculously out of place cursing and the beautifully drawn gore, which, again, is the book's only saving grace. Buy this book for your children, but if you are over the age of 13, look for a graphic novel with some substance.
Brilliant.......2007-06-21
Before he started getting high profile projects like Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies, Robert Kirkman got noticed for creating The Walking Dead. And now, the first twelve issues of Kirkman's brillant and horrific series are collected in this oversized, handsome hardcover. The series begins as police officer Rick Grimes wakes up out of a coma to find the world has changed quite a bit. Zombies are everywhere, and human survivors are few and far between. Soon enough though, Rick is re-united with his wife Lori, young son Carl, and partner Shane, along with a host of other survivors, but as he soon learns, the most dangerous life forms walking around now aren't the zombies, but are in fact the humans. That's what helps make The Walking Dead so good. Kirkman really gets down and dirty examining the effects on these people in this crisis that changes everything they know about the world. The stark black and white artwork from Tony Moore, Charlie Adlard, and Cliff Rathburn has a lasting effect as well. This first hardcover volume concludes with a discovery that sets the stage for the future of the series, which proves the previous notion over what's is more dangerous in a world crawling with zombies. If you've never checked out The Walking Dead before, pick this up.
Kirkman's Zombie Soap Opera begins!.......2007-06-21
The Walking Dead Book 1 is a wonderful hardcover collection containing the first two trade paperbacks in the series. Robert Kirman has created an interesting world and a host of even more interesting characters based on a premise that has been overused in the past (i.e. the world being overun by zombies). The art in the beginning of the book is definitely better than at the end, and once the artist changed when the second storyline came along it took a while for me to get used to it, but Kirkman's excellent writing soon won me over again. With the Walking Dead the strength of the writing really counts for a lot, and it should not really bother me that the book is in black and white, but it does. The characterization of Rick and his family is superbly done, and all the scenes are well-written and excellent. Even so, I would have given this book 5 stars if it appeared in color. Many would scream bloody murder, but I think that the only comic book in black & white worth 5 stars is Alan Moore's From Hell. The Walking Dead is entertaining, but would have looked even better in color, easily warranting the 5 stars I wish I could give. Still, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, even those who don't like the horror genre. It is so much more than just a horror comic. Read it, and find out for yourself.
Book Description
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: there is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living. This volume follows our band of survivors as they set up a permanent camp inside a prison. Relationships change, characters die, and our team of survivors learn there's something far more deadly than zombies out there: each other.

A Great Story of Life Amongst the Zombies.......2007-03-31
How can Robert Kirkman possibly top Volumes 1 and 2 (comic books 1-12) of The Walking Dead series? I don't know. But he does it again, here, with Volume 3.
What's worse - the zombie threat, or the threat the survivors pose to each other?
You'll have to read the million shades of gray in this edition of the zombie classic!
An Awesome read.......2007-03-09
just like what my title says, this comic is an awesome read. zombies, death, guns, and the occasional madman. c'mon now, what more does a comic need?
Death Row.......2007-02-16
Most of the folks here already know that The Walking Dead saga is a compilation of stories by Robert Kirkman that expand on the story that is well know to any zombie movie fan. The main story. The one started in earnest by George Romero in 1968 with Night of the Living Dead [and was later remade in 1990 (the version that I prefer) by Tom Savini (with Romero oversight)]
The Walking Dead Volume 3 continues the story of Police Officer Rick Grimes and his band of normal-world-refugees as they find a new home after a perilous Georgia countryside journey across a world suddenly infected by a Walking Dead sickness. The home that they find kept the bad locked in when the world was normal; in our players' New World their home will hopefully keep the bad out.
But there are some inhabitants already in their new home...both alive and undead. Which will be most dangerous to Rick's group? That's the question and plight of volume 3.
I'm not a regular comic book reader. But I was drawn to The Walking Dead by the volume releases that bring the convenience of being able to get several chapters of the story without the month to month waiting for each issue. And I am now hooked.
The volume releases of The Walking Dead are like reading a screenplay with storyboards of a version of Night of the Living Dead that began simultaneously, but in a different part of the country. Yes, it's kind of a rip-off of a story (stories) already told, but the key is that it's done very very well. The zombies are true to the original Romero creation: slow and stupid as opposed to the 28 Days Later (2002) or 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead fast and thinking zombies.
Each volume takes under an hour to get all the way through, and they leave you wanting more. Volumes 1 through 5 are all available individually. A hard cover edition of volume 1 & 2 is out and a hard cover edition of volumes 3 & 4 is scheduled for early 2007. Volume 6 is scheduled for release the last week of February 2007; I have no info on a hard cover release of volumes 5 & 6, but I'm sure that it will happen if you prefer to wait.
So anyone in need of a very well done zombie fix that you don't put into your DVD player should absolutely get down with The Walking Dead sickness. Add it to your cart, but be sure to start with volume 1 and read them chronologically.
awesome kirkman series..........2007-02-02
don't miss out on the walking dead, one of the best comic book series out there right now. one big thing going for it is who the heck knows what's going to happen next or who's going to get unceremoniously waxed at any second. it's post-apocalyptic greatness, and a must-read.
the series is done in black and white, but the shading is so good i don't even miss the color. big props to whoever does the shading.
Safty Behind Bars...not likely!.......2006-05-27
In a world where the dead rule, a band of the living take refuge in a prison. Seems a little too easy, but what could go wrong...don't worry about the dead ones. It's the living prisoners you need to watch out for. When Hershel opened that door and I turned the page...my jaw dropped to the floor. Totally wasn't expecting it. Volume 3 is the best so far.

So so........2004-06-29
The story of Sifford is a very inspiring one. The book was just written in a horrible way. Every other sentance starts with the word "hell". It gets boring afterwards. The first half of the book moves very slowly, but the second half picks up a little more speed. This book will let people know that before Tiger Woods, there was Charlie, Lee Elder, and a lot of other guys too. It is a very good book. What Sifford went through was just horrid, but that's the reality of the world we live in. I could never blame him for being so bitter after all these years of obstacles and not being praised for what he has done. Never mind praise - just for not being allowed to play the game of golf. My limited grasp on golf parlance probably made it a little boring to read this book. But it's a good book, although it may make you a little sleepy.
A great book!!!.......2001-04-28
I read this book a few years back before it was offered through normal distribution channels. Mr. Sifford was actually distributing this book from his home. Being from Greensboro and a golfer, I was extremely impressed by Mr. Sifford's commitment to the game and his determination to play as a PGA professional. You truly wonder what the golfing world has already missed by not allowing Mr. Sifford and other African American golfers to pursue their dreams. When Mr. Sifford was attempting to break the "color barrier" there were more black professional golfers than there is today! His story is heartbreaking and encouraing, what he and other black golfers experienced (to include in my hometown of Greensboro NC) is almost beyond belief! I would strongly recommend reading this book.
Any hacker worth his putter should read this one !.......1998-08-04
This book took me to a time when all african -americans could look to their heritage with pride. Jackie Robinson was a great man and I place the accomplishments of Charlie Sifford right along side of his. He showed us what real intestinal fortitude is all about. This should be required reading for all youngsters interested in participating in sports. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story of courage under enormous pressure. This book teaches us about the strength and character we all posess inside.

Lola is a very fussy eater. Carrots are for rabbits and peas are "too small and too green." One day, after rattling off her long list of despised foods, she ends with the vehement pronouncement, "And I absolutely will never not ever eat a tomato." Not convinced, Lola's older sister Charlie has an idea. She tells Lola that the orange things on the table are not carrots, but "orange twiglets from Jupiter" and peas are in fact "green drops from Greenland." Mashed potatoes, when pitched as "cloud fluff from the pointiest peak of Mount Fuji" suddenly seem appealing to Lola. And in the end, might she even eat a tomato?
Lauren Child's wacky, expressive sketches of Lola and Charlie (much like those in Clarice Bean, That's Me) are cut out and superimposed on all sorts of textures and patterns from wallpaper to wood. Fuzzy, enlarged photographs of bowls of peas, or fish sticks, or big carrots are pasted right on top to great effect. This funny, endearing look at how children's tastes can be based more on preconception than taste buds is sure to infuse levity into the daily dinner-table struggle. The author's dedication? "With love from Lauren / who is keen on Marmite / but would rather not eat a raisin." (Ages 3 to 8) --Karin Snelson
Book Description
The critically acclaimed Charlie and Lola books -- now an animated series on television!
Lola is a fussy eater. A very fussy eater. She won’t eat her carrots (until her brother Charlie reveals that they’re orange twiglets from Jupiter). She won’t eat her mashed potatoes (until Charlie explains that they’re cloud fluff from the pointiest peak of Mount Fuji). There are many things Lola won’t eat, including - and especially - tomatoes. Or will she? Two endearing siblings star in a witty story about the triumph of imagination over proclivity.
"Youngsters will never - not ever - pass up a second helping." - PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

Very Cute Book.......2007-09-09
My "almost" 5 year old loves when I read her this book, especially with a (granted fake) British accent. She is a lot like Lola with the fussy eating, and her big brother is a lot like Charlie in that he tries to make it fun for her. All in all a great book, and it makes bedtime fun.
LOVE IT!!!! a top pick........2007-05-13
My son is obsessed with this series - the books and DVD's. He is also a fussy eater - perfect for that - it makes food fun and silly. Also such a wonderful example of a great sibling relationship. highly recommended. I got this when my son was 2 1/2.
Cloud Fluff Anyone?.......2007-04-17
We purchased this book for our 3 year old after enjoying "I am not tired and will not go to bed." We have enjoyed reading this book as much and it has an added perk....our very "fussy eater" now eats cloud fluff and green drops. It was as easy as making a reference to the book one night at supper and all of the sudden he ate a whole bowl of cloud fluff and some green drops (he also tried some orange twiglets!) The Charlie and Lola books are very imaginative and fun to read. I highly recommend purchasing them.
Great!.......2007-03-10
Once in a while a book comes along that steals your heart! My kids loved it, I loved it!!!
We love Charlie & Lola!!!.......2007-01-19
These books are so great! My 4 year old son loves them all and asks for them to be read to him over and over again. Whenever he's introduced to new food he'll say "I never eat tomatos" as he puts the food in his mouth to try. He totally gets this book! :)

Book Description
Lola always always always has to win! No matter what games she and Charlie play, Lola always triumphs. What will happen when Charlie devises a strategy for a game that surely he will win? When playtime is through, Charlie and Lola have learned that maybe having the upper hand isn't as important as lending a hand when a brother or a sister could use a little help.
Customer Reviews:
Winning is not everything.......2007-07-25
Lola is Charlie's sister. She has to win at everything and will even resort to cheating.
Boring Book.......2007-05-16
Do not read Charlie and Lola's book because it's a boring book. Iti's about winning and losing it's boring.
Funny.......2007-01-27
My girls love this book. I like the moral since my kids are obsessed with winning. Their behavior hasn't changed since reading it, but I like to employ the lines from it when my kids are acting crazy about winning.
Very Nicely Done.......2007-01-27
We can all relate to the kids who have to win at all costs! A very cute book. My son loves to hear it.
Excellent.......2007-01-10

Customer Reviews:
Really helpful book, and very funny too.......2007-09-29
This book has been an enormous help to my 5 year old who has her first wobbly tooth, she was so worried about losing her tooth but this book has helped her see the process and that it can be quite fun. Lola makes everything fun and funny though.
In this book Lola has a wobbly tooth and doesn't want it to come out. That is until her friend Lotta, her brother Charlie and Charlie's friend Marv tell her what happens, and that the tooth fairy comes to visit - and that the tooth fairy brings money, and she can buy a giraffe for her farm.
It is not surprising to know that Lola wobbles the tooth after that until it comes out. However she loses the tooth and starts to cry wondering whether the tooth fairy will visit. Charlie has a brilliant idea and the day is saved.
Immensely appealing book for children and adults - great early reader material - there are cues in the book for readers to pick up the text with. The characters are immensely appealing to look at too - the artwork is brilliant - the collage effect is inspiring and there are great little touches - lots of little things to see on every page.
This is one of the best series of children's books around (in my opinion!) and you and your children will enjoy them - we certainly do.
Fun, but not by Lauren Child.......2007-08-21
Charlie and Lola are fast becoming my son's and my favorite characters, but some of these books, Wobbly Tooth included, are not actually written by Lauren Child. The text is based on a script from the t.v. program, and it shows. The story is fun if you have seen the episode, but not a good read. If you want real Lauren Child books, buy Eat a Tomato or Princess and the Pea or her Herb books. That being said, this is honestly and completely a cute book for children who love Charlie and Lola.
We love Charlie and Lola.......2007-08-06
My kids and I love the TV show and the books are a really nice compliment to what they are already familiar with. I try to read in a accent (which sounds so much cooler) but I need some practice! Also this books sets the stage for my DD's first tooth to fall out!
oh, so much silly fun!.......2007-07-02
My daughter loves this book, and to read it over and over. Lola is so silly, yet dealing with issues that are real to a pre-schooler/kindergartner. My girlie can even do the British accent while reading it. What a laugh!
My toddler enjoys this book.......2007-03-09
Characters and plot are well thought out and depicted -- believable and positive images of young children/siblings. Drawings are simple and effective. This is one in a series of books that toddlers and grownups enjoy sharing with each other.

I'm Really Ever So Not Well (Charlie and Lola)
ASIN: 0448444593
Release Date: 2007-03-01 |
Book Description
Charlie really wants Lola to play cards with him, but she is far too extremely busy meeting the demands of her many (pretend) careers . . . one moment she is a chef with a stack of orders to fill, and the next she is a doctor with a waiting room full of sick patients. But when Lola is told to tidy their very messy room, she soon discovers that doing things with her brother is ever so much more fun than playing solo.
Customer Reviews:
good fun.......2007-07-12
another hit from Charlie and Lola! I only wish that there were more books (without the stickers) because my 2 year old is a bit young to fully appreciate the stickers. We read it like a regular book, and have taped the stickers in place (to keep her from curiously tearing them off again, which undoubtedly leaves her in tears). A good value for the money if you are looking for more Charlie and Lola to satisfy a little one who adores them, like mine does. This also accompanies one of the episodes we have on DVD, which is nice.
A simply perfect sticker book!.......2007-07-08
We just can't get enough of Charlie and Lola these days. This book and all the other in the series are really neat. Lots of stickers to decorate as you follow the story. All stickers are removeable. We do a page a night, and it's such a treat for my daughter before she goes to bed!
Highly recommend.
SO Cute!!.......2007-06-27
My daughter is obsessed with Charlie and Lola. This book is adorable and the fact that you can reuse the stickers is great. We take it to restaurants, waiting rooms, etc. and it provides endless entertainment.

Charlie and Lola are my grandaughters new favorites and I love them too.
This book was a big hit!
Fabulous..........2006-11-03
We bought this book for a 4 year old friend for her birthday and she loved it. Apparently it was a really big hit. Being from the UK we absolutely love Lauren Childs books, they remind us of our friends back home!!!! I have two sons who love Charlie + Lola, we have heaps of their books and a couple of the DVD's too. My very almost nearly 5 year old has recently become addicted to Clarice Bean, Hubert Horatio and Who's Afraid of The Big Bad Book. They are all an absolute joy to read...
