One of the titles for the younger crowd in the Beginners Books series, My Book About Me has an unusual interactive twist--you make it up as you go along. On each page there's something new to complete, from "I weigh ___ pounds" to "My teeth. I counted them. I have ___ up top. I have ___ downstairs." It's a simple idea, but with a surprising amount of educational value--getting children to name their home country, to recognize and draw in the color of their own eyes, learn their telephone number and address, to name favorite clothes, foods, and colors, and more. Finally, there's a two-page spread where each owner of the book can write his or her own story. Illustrator Roy McKie's style is halfway between the P.D. Eastman of Are You My Mother and the mainstream Seuss of Cat in the Hat and Thidwick: The Big-Hearted Moose. (Ages 4 to 8) --Richard Farr

my book about me.......2007-07-27
as a child i loved this book and my children all three have enjoyed it also. It's a blast to do with your child and if you make a point of doing one a year you can make a fabulous library that not only they will enjoy but also their children will love. the best way to buy a toy or a book, i have found is to find something that i loved as a child, if its still around then someone doing something right.
Amazing and a great idea.......2007-07-04
I had done this book as a little girl way back when....I have a 10 year old son that saw this book when he was about 5 and we ordered him a copy. He loves looking back at the simple things like how many door knobs I had and how many he has. We just had a little girl and one of the first things he asked me to get her was her own book, we can't wait until we can watch her fill it out! It is a great way to preserve the most simple memories! I recommend this book to everyone!
FUN.......2007-03-25

My Book About ME.......2007-02-13
purchased a copy for eacn of my 3 grandsons, all approaching their 3rd birthdays. My own 3 children each had this wonderful Dr. Seuss classic and loved reading it over the years. Indeed, they still have their worn and tattered copies and continue to chuckle over them to this day.

Decent book--Very convicting!.......2007-09-21
I purchased this for a bible study at my church and have been reasonably happy with it. I don't totally agree with some of her concepts, but the general idea is definitely worthwhile.
A must for those who have the "I can't believe I said that!" moments!
Well-Written and Quality Printing.......2007-03-27
We have watched Joyce Meyer's weekly (Mon-Fri) program for a few years now and overall find her to be a very good practical teacher on how Scripture corresponds with daily life issues. The product is formatted well and is designed to partner with her book of the same title. A worthwhile topic!
Your way to Success.......2007-01-05
I was giving this book by a spiritual mother. Joyce, in her tell it like it is manner, informs us of how we set ourselves up for the 'lesser' things of life.
She gives a practical spin to the scripture 'life and death is in the power of the tongue". Its not about get rich scheme success or how to name it and claim it; this book teaches you how to train your ear and bridle your tongue to only speak what will manifest Godly character in your life. It also teaches us about the ills we do to poison our spirits and how to be liberated! PRAISE GOD!
Me And My Big Mouth.......2007-01-03
This is a great study for anyone who has a mouth, not just "big" mouth! Our words are the fruit of our thoughts. This book is an eye opener for how our words affect our lives and the lives of those around us. This is great for men and women.
You have two ears and 1 mouth for a reason.......2006-09-18
I had this book for a while now and I decided to read it. I am so glad I did because it was just what I needed. I learned so much and I'm sure you will too.
It is really great how Joyce has stories about her life that you can relate to.

Professor Theophilus helps you think through your opinions on controversial topics and defend your point of view to a skeptical world.
Customer Reviews:
Short, sweet, not too contrived.......2007-09-11
The chapters are pieced out of actual conversations and letters, and very well done. The questions and answers themselves are right on target, and I certainly wish I had had this book when I was in college -- it would have saved me quite a bit of repenting. Seriously. Easy read. Well worthwhile
Great book!.......2007-05-14
I bought this book for all of the graduating seniors at our church because I think it does a great job of addressing normal college issues from a Christian worldview. Highly recommended.
Real answers to real issues college students face.......2006-06-26
What issues are college students dealing with today - the same sex, drugs and rock n' roll from the `60s, or have they added some new ones, too? Well, to find out, you need to ask Professor Theophilus on the popular Focus on the Family college website called Boundless. The good professor is none other than UT philosophy and government professor J. Budziszewski, author of the incredible book How to Stay Christian in College. And Budziszewski ought to know what he's talking about, he lost his faith while in college only to return like the prodigal son to his Father and now he devotes himself to answering the longing questions of the truly seeking. The book is simply a written version of these Internet blogging conversations and they make for very, very interesting reading.
One student wants to know if Catholics can be Christians since he is interested in dating a Catholic girl, but understands that the Bible teaches not to be unequally yoked. Another student wants to know why she doesn't feel comfortable at church. Another student writes to ask how to apologize to his girlfriend who he has wronged. Another one needs wisdom in dealing with her roommate.
The questions are poignant and telling, Budziszewski's answers are humorous at times, but always Biblically-based, brutally honest and covered with compassion for the individual and their situation. The book would be a great read for any college student, but it might be best to have parents read this to get a feel for the issues facing their children as they head off to college. And it's nice to know that if parents don't have all the answers to all the questions their students are asking, they can turn to Professor Theophilus for wisdom and direction to pass along!
Good read for parents and college bound teens as well........2006-03-24
Budziszewski presents questions that many parents including myself might be reluctant to bring up to our teens and then thoughtfully answers the same. Tough subjects considered from a Christian perspective. This is a must read for the college bound teen.
As a college instructor..........2005-09-19
I found this book a tremendous help. In a day when most students of state colleges, or for that matter, the professors, know nothing of the difference between Noah and Moses, this book stands as great read for Christian students. Except for the advice to the student of Professor Pagan (p 124), I found answers I wish I could have offered to my Christian students. If the students of Professor Pagan answer him/her this way, then the student needs to know s/he is likely to get an F. I would certainly not advise doing this during class, and never with an adversarial attitude. It will get you nowhere. I'm going to give a copy of this to my own kids. And you don't need to be going to college to have these questions come up.
Product Description
This book solves the mystery of how to receive answers when you really want them. You learn not only that you are heard but that you are answered, and you will be able to receive all of the answers you need in order to propel your life forward in the most positive way.

If God Hears Me, I Want an Answer.......2007-05-14
Don't be fooled by the easy read of this powerful book. The exercises in this book really do help you understand that which is deep in your soul.
I have enjoyed the book so much I have gifted others with the copy.
They too have had great results from reading and doing the exercises in the book.
I believe you will not be disappointed in purchasing a copy.
Enjoy
A Book of wondrous thoughts, and wondrous meanings........2007-05-13
I feel this book has an amazing content of truly amzing words, described as being "Gods Words" in my full faith of having read this book, these words are set out to enlighten people of how it actually is to become your true-self, rather then a fabricated person whom thinks, and feels from their outer-self - there egotistiscal-self.
life changing.......2007-01-29
I've had a hard time getting out of my own head - or so I thought. Reading this book made me realize that those first thoughts are the answers I am asking for - its all the other stuff that I think behind it that get me in trouble! Anyway, free form writing has always been a good source of information to me. Applying it to specific questions has helped me gain clarity in numerous situations. This is now on my list of recommended reading to those who really wish to know themselves and God.
Superb!.......2007-01-10
Another truly wonderful book by ""Barbara". This book gives such a clear message. I recommend to anyone looking for the right answers to a more productive and calmer life style.

Great Book.......2007-08-24
This book give answers to some of the very basic questions regarding christianity and has help in my classes that I teach.
Fantastic and Stimulating.......2005-07-02
What a great book! I am a Christian and I purchased this book to get an idea of what it was all about and how it could help me explain to my friends who are not firm believers in God and Christianity why Christians believe in God and Jesus Christ. It does help with certain questions people approach me with and I can more confidently express my own views along with the views of this book.
I definitely recommend this book to any who has an interest in Christianity. It is not complicated and the author, Cliffe Knechtle, is very knowledgeable and gentle in offering his views. He surely opened my eyes a bit wider, and my heart.
Most Have, Real Answers.......2004-02-09
Great book for witnessing and answering some of the toughest questions often asked. This guy has a morning TV show as well as a church in CT. He also can be found in some areas on radio. His book came highly recommended to me when I asked a local Christian book store what books would be best for new believers as well as for non-believers. This book is refreshing and the answers are clear to understand. Refreshing because he doesn't use just the Bible and Christian views to backup what he says, he uses science, mathematics, or what ever there is to back up what he says.Diane
Fantastic book and a great tool for those looking to witness.......1999-10-03
Give Me An Answer is a great tool for anyone who is looking to share their faith in the Lord with others but feels unprepared to respond to some of the usual criticism and questions non-believers have. The author, Cliff Knetchle, presents the material in a very matter-of-fact yet no-holds-barred style that makes it easy to read and remember to reiterate later. The book is a quick read but an important one to anyone, believer and non-believer alike. Check it out.
Incredible resource for Christians with questioning friends.......1999-02-10
Knechtle travels to different universities across the U.S., setting up shop in free speech areas with a microphone and offering to answer any question anyone might have about Christianity. I first heard him speak when I was a student at the University of Florida. At the end of the day there would be over 300 people circled around as Cliffe handled every challenge. He points people to a relationship with Christ - disarming their pre-concieved notions with hard facts and a loving and honest attitude. This book is a synopsis of the his stock responses to the most common questions he is asked. It is intelligently yet accessibly written. It has been a invaluable tool when I have had friends who were honestly seeking, but had intellectual questions. I have passed this book on to many people.

Great Book For Children...and others.......2006-01-21
I'm not sure about the modern printing. However, I recently came across a copy my brother got as a gift in the early 80's. I started reading it and was amazed at how good it was. I will certainly give copies to my young relatives. Actually, I learned some things from the book! It doesn't assume stupidity in children and really answers their questions and gets them to think. Certainly a better gift than video-games or DVDs.
A childhood favorite.......2005-03-30
When I was a child (about 12), my mother bought this series for us. I loved them! Being an inquisitive child who was always asking "WHY?", these books scratched what itched. 30 years later, I have come to Amazon to see if these books are still available for my children, and so they are!
Fun & Very Informative - Answers To Hundreds Of Questions.......2005-01-10
This book is absolutely wonderful. It has the three volumes of "Tell Me Why" books combined into one volume of about 620 pages. The book has the answers to the questions that children and inquisitive adults often ask.
Following are some of the many questions covered by the book. You will have to read the book for the answers.
1. Why does soap clean?
2. What is the body temperature of animals?
3. Why do dogs bury bones?
4. What are freckles?
5. What makes a boomerang return?
6. What is the purpose of the firefly's light?
7. What is quicksand?
8. What makes mirrors work?
9. Why do we stop growing?
10.How is an atom exploded?

Jan Silvious helps readers learn to identify and break the cycle of an unhealthy codependent relationship in a loving, scriptural manner.
Customer Reviews:
A great read for the co-dependant novice.......2000-01-02
Jan Silvious' book gives a very clear and easy to read definition of co-dependancy, emotional dependacy, and how the two work together to create relationships of all types (marriages, friendships, work place, parent/child) which are unhealthy for both partners, and which will eventually destroy those involved. She also gives helpful and clear suggestions for those wishing to take the path to recovery, through trust and surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. I highly recommend this book. As an ex-text book case, I can recommend this book first hand as a helpful place to begin your recovery from both co-dependancy and emotional dependancy.

Great book for kids to answer their own questions.......1999-12-17
When my sister and I received (I think all 5 books) in this series, we explored a vast array of information, browsing subjects at random. These books explain things in an interesting, brief manner that doesn't talk down to kids, but encourages associative learning and thinking. It is a crime that they are out of print. If you find copies, grab them!
Book Description
ANSWER Me! is a big black slab of trouble. Originally released as a series of magazines, then a collected edition which sold thousands before going out of print, ANSWER Me! has been blamed for a White House shooting and a triple suicide. It has been banned in several countries and put on trial for obscenity in the USA. Chock full of well-written rants, interviews, and articles on topics ranging from music and subcultures to sex, love, hate, murder, serial killers, and suicide, this fat, gorgeous anthology contains the legendary rant-zine's first three issues in their entirety. It also contains sixty new pages of wistful ANSWER Me! memories and tasty new articles written by philanthropist and humanitarian Jim Goad. There's a strong chance that this is the best book ever published. Only an idiot would refuse to buy it.
ANSWER Me! was so wonderful because it reminded me of when my uncle Joey turned me on to National Lampoon when I was eight years old. After National Lampoon I was always looking for uglier forms of humor, and then comes along ANSWER Me! -- Shaun Partridge, Partridge Family Temple
ANSWER Me! is a nasty little book ... more than worth its cover price for the jaw dropping serial killer and suicide guides. -- debased.com

Answer Me!.......2007-03-22
Book about things that you don't talk about at parties, unless all your friends are that twisted. This book is an in your face look at modern America and what it has produced in the ways of social diseases and debauchery. A must have for that warm fuzzy feeling that you are not a weird as others say you are.
Excellent early work of a developing genius of American letters, .......2007-01-26
These are important early works of an important American prose stylist with an authentic refreshing voice overlooked by mainstream publishing. Jim Goad burst onto the scene of American letters with this compilation of his earliest examples: a combination of H.L. Mencken, Eric Hoffer, and the obscure Joe Schenkman (whose work in the late 70's National Lampoon is similar).
Jim Goad has an allure for certain types of women who like dangerous rough trade combined with the low cunning of undiscovered genius. The hero is always the rebel that plays by his own rules, yet the edge of a rusty beer can that is attractively picturesque is also loaded with tetanus, as too often Goad's amorante discover. In Goad's self-narrative, this allure is also his curse and makes him a controversial figure. This is not an unknown dimension of personal history for some of the world's greatest writers.
This humour is dark and cynical, but only to those who don't find Thomas Harris's "Hannibal" laugh out load funny, or Chaucher's "The Milller's Tale," or haven't read Rabelais or de Sade. Otherwise, Goad's work is challenging and reads like someone still finding his voice and synthesizing his perspective and weltenshaung.
Jim Goad..........2006-12-31
...is a self serving, woman beating, hate monger.
God love him for it! Buy this book!!!
If You Offend Easily Then This is Not The Book For You..........2006-11-10
This book is not those who are offended easily. But if you have a dark sense of humor and are fascinated by all that is evil or corrupt, then this book may be right up your ally. My favorite part is the in depth A thru Z profiles on Serial Killers.
To know if this book is right for you you may want to look into some of Jim Goads writings and see what you think. I personally think hes a genius but I'm sure not all would not agree...
