Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Barely gets 1 star.......2007-10-10
I have read every Cussler novel before and after this. This is the only one that's taken me more than two days to read. Every new book, I look forward to sitting down on a quiet weekend and reading my way through the book. It was horrible. In fact, it gave horrible a bad name. I was crushed. Thank goodness this novel was an anomoly.
Another Juan Cabrillo Novel.......2007-07-04
Clive Cussler was born in 1931 and grew up in Alhambra, California. He attended Pasadena City College before joining the Air Force. He went on to a successful advertising career, winning many national honours for his copywriting. He has also explored the deserts of the American Southwest in search of lost gold mines, dived in isolated lakes in the Rocky Mountains looking for lost aircraft and hunted under the sea for shipwrecks of historic significance, discovering and identifying more than sixty. He is married with three children, and divides his time between Colorado and Arizona. His credentials as a best selling author cannot be doubted and he has a large `stable' of best selling adventure novels.
Clive Cussler began his series The Oregon Files, with the adventure of the Golden Buddha featuring the captain of the Oregon, Juan Cabrillo. Now he follows on the series with the Sacred Stone a new adventure featuring Juan Cabrillo.
The whole world is put at risk when an ancient artifact that possesses enormous radioactive power in unearthed in a remote part of Greenland. Caught between two militant powers that are bent on using that power to commit wholesale slaughter, Juan Cabrillo and his network of spies known as The Corporation must do everything in their power to protect the stone from all the factions that are doing their utmost to obtain the artifact. Only in this way will World War III be averted.
Did Clive Cussler even READ this book??.......2007-04-11
Mr. Cussler, please don't lend your revered name to such poorly written stuff as "The Oregon File" series. Your name on the cover, and your pic on the back may sell books to your loyal fans, but will quickly destroy our faith.
Too many characters and plots.......2007-03-29
Ok, I bought the audio edition of this to listen to on my drive to work and back. This story almost made me fall asleep at the wheel. Too many characters or similar depths made it difficult to keep track -- in fact, I still dont know who half the characters were. Did Cussler write this book? Save your money and your sanity and get a different cussler book.
A great adventure, as expected from a Cussler book!.......2007-02-03
There has been much criticism surrounding the factual details within this book. Sure, the book clearly shows how the authors have likely never studied a map of the UK, and perhaps some British people might get annoyed at the inaccuracies of train station announcements or a barman being called a bartender, but these are just small details and can be forgiven seeing as this is not real life, but a work of fiction! (I wonder how many British authors get American places and expressions correct.). So what if the book puts Edinburgh west of Glasgow; it's not a geography book, but an adventure novel set in a make-believe world. Perhaps the writer was holding the map upside down? Either way, it would be nice if facts could be researched, but I feel that many publishers put such stringent deadlines on these mass paperback authors that they simply don't have the time to fact check the smaller things. It's also likely that most of this book was written by Craig Dirgo, but seeing as Clive Cussler invented the characters in a Dirk Pitt novel he owns the copyright and therefore the co-writer writes the book under his guidance. The style is very different from his Pitt and Austen novels, and it does tend to jump about and is sometimes hard to keep up. And it's true that there are far too many characters involved. However, all this aside, the book is a refreshing change from the standard Pitt and Austen adventures (Kurt Austen is in fact pretty much just another Pitt with a different name and some different hobbies (Instead of collecting antique cars he collects antique pistols)). The Oregon files introduces us to a completely different hero, the ever-inventive leader of a band of mercenaries with a conscience, who only go into battle for what they believe in and feel will have a positive effect on mankind (Sounds like another leader I know!). Sacred Stone is a compelling read and it did keep me wanting to turn the pages to see what happens next, which is always the mark of a good author. I put another unfinished book down to read this Cussler book, and did not regret it. This just goes to show that Cussler's books are still a cut above the rest.

Garth's poisoning by a mysterious substance, combined with his experiences related in "The Beasts of Valhalla, " changes his personality, causing him to become estranged from Mongo and his family--and resulting in tens of thousands of people coming to believe that he is the promised messiah.
Customer Reviews:
Saved by not the bell, but by a few things.......2006-01-29
This is a very good suspense-mystery novel, with a touch of science fiction and horror, in a great series by George Chesbro. Robert "Mongo" Fredericksen is a criminologist/private investigator who has a black belt in martial arts and happens to also be a dwarf and former star acrobat in a circus. Strange? Oh, it's only begun to be strange! Mongo and his six-foot-three-inch brother, Garth (retired NYPD detective) have been through two nightmares, described in "The Beasts of Valhalla" and "Two Songs This Archangel Sings, " that have left Garth in a coma, induced by poisoning with a rare, top secret chemical, usually used only by intelligence agents to mark clothing and objects. Garth is sent to a secret, government-run psychiatric hospital and, with Mongo's unorthodox help, makes a partial recovery. When Garth awakens, he remembers everything, but is depressed, has lost his sense of who he used to be, and is now so empathic that he can barely tolerate being with others who are miserable. In a major turn of events . . . no, that would be a spoiler. Suffice it to say that Mongo barely survives, Garth barely escapes, and they are separated. In a strange twist, Garth unintentionally becomes the center of a religious cult that focuses on helping the poorest and neediest amongst us. But, there is much more going on than that, and most of it is evil.
Why did I give it four stars? George Chesbro writes very well, and this is a fast-paced novel, replete with interesting side-characters, like Veil Kendry, Tommy Carling, and Dane Potter. While it is not typical of the Mongo novels, which usually have a clear mission or quest, with global implications, at their heart, this book is nonetheless gripping.
Why didn't I give it that fifth star? There are a few slow spots, there is a bit of meandering, much of the beginning is devoted to recapping the two prior novels, Veil Kendry seems to unnecessarily disappear from the story for a while, and there is a little too much repetition found in Mongo's ruminations.
I still found this to be a very, very enjoyable novel.
"I'm Not Anybody's Master".......2005-09-05
This is the last of the Valhalla books in that it deals with the final repercussions of Mongo and brother Bart's trip into destructive phylogeny. Bart, who has been haunted by what he learned in the Valhalla project ends the last volume in a surge of violent followed by complete catatonia. Now Mongo struggles to bring Bart back to the world and then deal with the aftereffects when Bart recovers only to become a religious leader.
Mongo's solution to for Bart was to continually play Wagner's Ring to him, recalling the their days as experimental subjects. When Bart comes out he is so different that Mongo almost regrets having intervened in his brother's treatment. What nobody had planned on was that the KGB would had infiltrated the hospital. A drug caused Bart's reaction, and the Russians wanted to know about it.
In a flurry of spy vs. spy, Bart disappears, only to resurface in New York City, trying to help the desolate poor and rapidly turning into a religious icon. Mongo's guilt at what had happened to his brother reaches a peak when he realizes that he must debunk Bart's credentials in order to save his life. Nothing is ever easy.
This is much more of a suspense story than a mystery, since Chesbro consistently tells the reader what is going to happen. And, to be honest, there isn't all that much suspense either. The story essentially serves to take Mongo and Bart through the transition to an independent detective agency. The events in the hospital are dragged out for most of the story, along with some collateral embellishments.
This is Mongo's most introspective novel. Unfortunately, he tends to introspect in the same vein all the time. If it weren't for Chesbro's writing skill this novel would have failed badly. As it is, it is an emotional, but very low key finale to what is otherwise a very strong trilogy. Do not read this book before The Beasts of Valhalla, since the Cold Smell of Sacred Stone gives away much of that plot. While its not my favorite, it wraps up several previous story arcs and sets the scene for many stronger Mongo tales.
Final volume of the Valhalla trilogy.......2005-07-03
"Prayers for the conversion of Gladstone they had too when he was almost unconscious. The protestants the same...The cold smell of sacred stone called him. He trod the worn steps, pushed the swing door and entered softly by the rere."
- James Joyce, "Lotus Eaters", ULYSSES
"In what eventually became known as the Dime and a Little Time Parable, Garth had idly wondered out loud what would happen if humankind decided to declare a kind of moratorium on its collective obsession with occult power for a decade or more...During this time, each day, every man, woman, and child on the face of the planet would donate ten minutes or the equivalent of ten cents in a personal attempt to better the lot of somebody, anybody, else who might need a hand to hold, or a slice of bread to eat...
"With that kind of crazy talk, it was probably no wonder that a lot of people would take into their heads the notion that my poisoned brother was the Messiah."
- Mongo, prologue
Please don't complain to me about spoilers if you choose to disregard my warnings. The first two chapters are spent resolving the cliffhanger ending of TWO SONGS THIS ARCHANGEL SINGS and bringing Veil Kendry - Mongo's friend and sensei - up to speed on the events of THE BEASTS OF VALHALLA. Consequently, I recommend reading at least those two books before starting COLD SMELL, if not all 5 earlier volumes in the Mongo Frederickson series.
COLD SMELL serves as a transition point in the Mongo novels. Before COLD SMELL, Garth served in the NYPD, while Mongo's main source of income was as a criminology professor with a not-too-active sideline as a PI. After this book, the Frederickson brothers go into partnership and the detective agency sideline becomes their main source of income.
Unfortunately, Garth's last police case (apart from tagging along after Mongo during the Archangel investigation) resulted in his being slowly poisoned with "spy dust", something never meant to be ingested. Coupled with the psychological stress he's endured over the last few years, the aftermath of the poisoning has been enough to land Garth in Rockland Psychiatric Center in upstate New York with a questionable prognosis, since nobody has experience with the aftereffects of this particular poison. (The author worked at the real-life Center for several years, and appears to have incorporated his experiences there into this book, partly through having Mongo take on some volunteer substitute-teaching in the children's segment of the hospital.)
Mongo practices his own unorthodox therapy in an attempt to get Garth to rejoin the world; he plays Garth unabridged recordings of the operas of Wagner's ring cycle, figuring that the associations with the Valhalla project will shake Garth out of his stupor if anything will. This unexpectedly backfires when Garth awakes not as his old self, and not even in the super-cynical state of mind he was in while being poisoned, but with apparently extreme personality changes. He can't bear other people's distress, but rather than avoiding people in pain he seeks them out and tries to help (although this stops short of pushing him into effective actions to relieve his brother's distress over *him*).
Next thing you know, the patients are outside the asylum, and Garth seems to be on the fast track to becoming the center of a new religion as the designated Messiah. And for some reason, this is not received with joy by the various movers and shakers in the political and intelligence communities who are at the mercy of the Frederickson brothers' discretion. The reasons given in the book for the authorities' inability to locate Garth and other escapees, while explained, don't seem adequate to address the question of why the patients remain at liberty once located.
I'm torn in rating this book, and have opted for the low end because I have it more as a hopeless completist in collecting the series than on its own merit. The book begins with a massive block of exposition, then spends several chapters of hand-wringing while Mongo works out how to get Garth communicating again. The interesting bits of the opening chapters have more to do with Mongo's experiences with the other patients than Garth's own situation. Once Garth is no longer under medical supervision, we're told more than shown what's going on (Mongo has little patience with religion in any form), so the middle of the book from my point of view bogs down. My main motives in keeping it around are that the Rockland experiences are interesting, and it bridges the gap between the Fredericksons' separate careers and their joining forces officially as a team.
Drive in totals:
- Assorted mental disorders, including suicidal youngsters (variety of motives), one ex-POW and torture victim.
- Alphabet soup of intelligence agents underfoot.
- Some indirect sexual content, mostly the description of severe abuse suffered by various patients.
The Cold Smell of Sacred Stone.......2000-04-06
This final installment of the Valhalla series brings into focus all the ramifications of what happened to Mongo and Garth in the Beasts of Valhalla. Further, it fleshes out Garth, raising him to a character in his own right instead of just being Mongo's brother. The book takes off immediately with Veil defending himself against the assassin sent in the previous book and doesn't stop. From there, it is a fast paced tale where Mongo tries to save his brother from himself and others while trying to figure out who his friends and enemies are. The Beasts of Valhalla trilogy is Chesbro's best work.

For the ancient Native Peoples, the place known to us as America's Stonehenge (Mystery Hill) was a sacred place. For 2500 years they came annually to hold ceremonies with the spirits. At first, they came on the summer solstice and then later they came for the winter solstice and spring equinox. They built ritual structures like stone chambers, cairns, drains, basins, enclosures, and standing stones as part of their ceremonial areas. As the ceremonies were altered and added to, new ceremonial structures were built to accommodate them. These structures were constructed for specific purposes, contained symbolism meaningful to their culture, and had distinct architectural styles. The result is an amazing archaeological record of the 2500 year cultural history of this sacred place.
Americas Stonehenge Deciphered explores the purpose of these structures, the ceremonies held at them, and the meaning behind the symbolism built into them. It traces how these cultural beliefs were passed from generation to generation and how they were added to and altered to meet the changing needs of their culture. What emerges from this is a profound respect for the intelligence, sophistication, and the depth of their spiritual worldview, culture, and their expertise with building stone structures.
Americas Stonehenge site is located in Salem, NH. It is open daily for self-guided tours. For directions, admission fees, and hours please visit www.StonehengeUSA.com

The first published reference to America's Stonehenge aka Mystery Hill was the 1907 History of Salem, NH. The text in this book borders on prescient: "This is a wild but beautiful spot among rough boulders and soft pines, about which the most weird and fantastic tale might be woven..."
"America's Stonehenge Deciphered" is the latest in these fantastic tales, combining contemporary New Age crystal lore with ancient stone structures that have yet to be identified as built by Native Americans or Pre-Columbian Europeans. Indiscriminately using colonial boundary walls with walls of unknown origin (with astronomical significance), Gage weaves a complicated tale of spiritual symbolism and ceremony that makes "Manitou" by Mavor & Dix seem mainstream by comparison.
Appendix D is indicative of the interpretation used as Gage discussing a small carving found in the Oracle Chamber known as the Running Deer. Gage attempts to convince the reader that the carving is actually a map, rendering a specific point in the Merrimack River in stone. Although a stronger argument can be made that the carving is a Native totem, post-colonial graffiti or even a rendering of entoptic phenomena, a map is not entirely out of the question. Gage claims that the body of the deer is the Merrimack and the horns are a minor brook that joins the river in Ward Hill section of Haverhill. Even Gage is hard pressed on this interpretation, deciding that probably that Haverhill Indians visited the site. A map of the river does not work in context. Why the Natives didn't inscribe a map pertinent to the site, such as the Spicket River route to the Merrimack or draw one of the several major Indian trails in the immediate vicinity instead of an irrelevant section of the river is never unexplained.
Mystery Hill has had no shortage of claims about it's origins, ranging from Barry Fell's Celt-Iberians to William Goodwin's Culdee Monks. The site may very well turn out to be Native American in origin, but this is not the book that will resolve the issue.
Spirituality of the Eastern Woodlands Deciphered.......2006-08-16
Mary Gage seamlessly combines historical, archaeological, and other physical records with Native American oral traditions to piece together a 3,000 year ceremonial history of the Mystery Hill complex in North Salem, NH. It not only becomes evident that Mary has pain-stakingly inspected all the structures at the complex known as America's Stonehenge, but that she also has extensive knowledge of all the reports from archaeologists and researchers who have studied the site over the last several decades. She puts it all together into a cohesive timeline that not only makes logical sense, but brings the general public new insights into the spirituality of New England's First Nations.
The value of Mary's book goes far beyond Mystery Hill. It also helps us to better understand ancient lithic sites all over New England. From her meticulous documentation of each structure and feature, we gain knowledge of similar structures that likely served similar purposes at sites all over the Eastern Woodlands. We learn new ways of viewing stonework and rock piles. We find features that we might have otherwise overlooked.
The hundreds of terrific photos by Mary's son James and all the expertly-drawn illustrations do a wonderful job of placing you right there at each feature as Mary describes their uses. It becomes easy to imagine the Native People practicing their rituals and continuing their traditions over scores of centuries on the beautiful sacred hilltop site. It transports you back in time and allows you to envision the ceremonies in a way you likely never have before.
Although those people lucky enough to have visited Mystery Hill often and who have intimate knowledge of its many features will gain the most value from Mary's book, it is so jam-packed with information that there is literally something in it for everyone. This book should sit on the shelf right next to your copy of Manitou by Mavor and Dix. I feel it is both that important and that ground-breaking.
Note: I am in no way affiliated with Powwow River Books or with America's Stonehenge Deciphered in any way. I posted this review because I honestly received that much value from Mary's book -- and I think everyone interested in Eastern Woodlands pre-history should own a copy. This is very much an unsolicited endorsement.
Product Description

The Indians, Spanish, and American knew of it and considered it of time immermorial. Recently, it has been the subject of intense controversy. For the first time, in this unique monograph, its true origin is elucidated and a connection drawn to a forgotten eighth-century Jewish colony in the American Southwest named Calalus.
