Book Description
The mystique of the young girl receives a sustained erotic performance of innocence and sexual frankness in Fresh. Naz compounds the intensity through a tight range of setups, that enables these adult women, who exude the Lolita type, to playfully suggest or display their sexual allure. We may all be advanced enough to know that Lolita is not as entirely innocent as she and half of society would have you believe. Dave Naz has gathered an eclectic mix of candidates to complete your Lolita fantasy or confirm your certainty over its debasing potency. The narrative in your mind heats up when you discover her.
... a true southern California artist. His sexy imagery is casual without pretense. When one looks beyond the surface, the work is seen as much more: a cultural artifact giving clues to the sexual identities and persona of our time. -- Chas Ray Krider

Nothing Special.......2007-04-26
This book features a dozen or so models in the type of layouts normally seen in girlie or soft porn magazines. However, the book suffers from the drawback of being significantly smaller than a typical magazine. Also, the girls are not especially young or pretty. You're much better off sticking with the magazines or going for an art photography book that's a little more orginal.
Excellent!.......2007-03-15
This book is truly a work of art. The quality of the pics of this book is wonderful.
It makes a wonderful gift or addition to a collection. Highly recommended.
This is great a coffee Table book.
Girls, Girls, Girls..........2007-02-06
There are close to 400 color pages of very sexy, very naked, and very young-looking girls in this book, so it's hard to say a bad thing about it. Oddly enough, though, although all of these girls have spectacular young bodies, I only found about half of them to be truly pretty. To me it would have made more sense to put out a 200-page book of only the prettiest girls instead of a nearly-400-page book that contains a lot of filler. But then again, who am I to complain: the pictures are sharp and clear, the girls are wonderfully-naked, many of them are gorgeous, and there are plenty of them to go around.
seems like kiddie porn.......2006-11-18
i just got this book in the mail yesterday. i feel dirty having this book in my collection. most of the girls look 14 or 15. they are mostly posed photos that don't look natural. if you're just wanting a book of naked YOUNG girls this is a good book for you. this is not an art book in my opinion...
seductively fresh-This one is worth it!.......2006-08-07
All stunning and feasts for the eyes. Dave Naz photographs pulls you into the setting and makes you feel as though you are a part of it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves first rate photography and who admires the mystique of young girls...There are so many beautiful, young girls in this collection. Enjoy!

Thumbs up.......2007-04-04
This is a great book. I'm glad I finally found it as I have been searching everywhere for it. Amazon is a great source if you're looking for a particular book and you cannot purchase it elsewhere. The book was in good condition and reasonably priced. It also did not take long to deliver. Thank you.
Not that great.......2007-01-22
I am John's daughter. I read some of it and the stuff about celebrities was kind of interesting, but I tried the thing w/ putting oil in my hair, and that totally backfired!!! I had to wash my hair like 5 times before I could get it out. So just so everyone knows, it's not completely reliable.
This book is totally underrated.......2006-12-07
Honestly,I've read so many "beauty secret" books and they all say the same things! Sure a few of them have a couple of recipes and tips that work. But they are all the same tips and recipes!
Diane Irons teen beauty secrets has the best beauty secrets I've ever read. Thewse tips are just so good that quite a few of the beauty concoctions Ive made from here work better than storebought products!
Here's one example:
I read in her book that Criso vegatable shortening is used to treat eczema in hospitals.
I've never told any of my frends that I have eczema on my feet. I'm too ashamed to wear sandals. I tried this and applied it overnight and slipped on some cotton socks. The next day, My feet were so soft! I've nver had feet this soft since befor ei got eczema.
The beauty recipes work wonders, but you should test it on an area of your skin before trying them if skin is sensitive.
Great Intro to Makeup Techniques and Beauty.......2006-10-14
I am transgender, and am gradually becoming the woman that was always inside of me. This book has really helped with various beauty and makeup secrets, and is a great introduction to becoming a woman on the outside.
Excellent!.......2006-08-05
I rented this book from our local library, and Now I'm buying it because there are so many useful tips, I just can't keep them all in my head! It's really great!

"In French my name means Tuesday (Mardi)... because I was born on a Tuesday. Thank God it wasn't a Wednesday because then my name would have been Mercredi. In English it sounds like a pain reliever." When it comes to her name, 14-year-old Mardi can joke. It's just the rest of her life that's not so funny. At school she is accused of having "HBO" (Haitian Body Odor) and at home, there is no privacy in the tiny apartment she shares with many assorted family members. And if she strays slightly from her parents' rigid standards of what it means to be a good Haitian girl, she is harshly accused of being "fresh." But Mardi is keeping a terrible secret from her family about things that happened to her during a military coup those last troubled days in Haiti, a secret that makes her sprinkle her bed with rocks to escape the deep slumber of nightmares. And as that secret begins to surface, Mardi must choose to tell and live, or keep silent, while dying inside.
In this challenging debut novel, author Jaira Placide tackles many thorny topics, including sexual harassment, immigrant assimilation, self-mutilation, and rape with a finesse and sensitivity that belies her first-time status. Mardi is a complex character whose joy and pain resonate deeply, mainly due to Placide's ability to maintain Mardi's naive yet cynical voice. With the publication of Fresh Girl, Jaira Placide has released a fresh new voice to the world of teen literature. (Ages 12 and older) --Jennifer Hubert
Book Description
Mardi was born in New York, but her parents sent her to Haiti to be raised in her grandmother’s house while they worked. When a coup d’état means 12-year-old Mardi and her sister must flee, they suddenly arrive in Brooklyn to live with parents they hardly know. Now it’s two years later. Mardi has adapted to her new life, while savoring sweet memories of her home in Haiti. But she is also haunted by her secret: a soldier raped her when she fled. This ambitious first novel is an insightful story of how family love and support can heal and help us move from world to world.

Fresh Girl.......2004-04-24
I really liked this book.I liked the fact that the main chacter wean through some of the same things I did, also she is my age.Her family was kind of like mine in the way of not leting me date boy and not leting me do much of any thing.
I think the best part of the book was when she just let it all out. She told her uncle how felt about him because of what happend to her befor she came to America.
The most remberabel of all the story elements were the conflict and the climax. She felt as if it was her v. the whole world, she had Santos (the boy she liked)/, her uncle her friends, and herself. The other element I rember was the climax was when told her uncle and her aunt what had happend to her befor she came to New York to live.
Caught Between Two Worlds.......2003-01-30
Fresh Girl by Jaira Placide is a wonderful book that has opened my eyes to the struggles many people face when they are torn between two cultures. This book gives the reader great insight into the life of a young adult who is trying to forget her terrible past and struggling to live her life in a new and different culture. Fresh Girl allows the reader to understand the pain, hate, and saddness that the main character, Mardi, experiences when she moves from Haiti to live in the United States. She left Haiti due to violence and corruption. Her new life in America was supposed to give her a safe and peaceful home to live in. Unfortunatly, her horrific experiences in Haiti and her racist peers will not allow her to have peace in her mind or heart. In order for Mardi to move on in her life she must learn to face her fears and tear down the walls she has built around herself.

A Great New Voice.......2002-03-21
Fresh Girl by Jaira Placide is a great debut. The book is about a girl named Mardi Desravines who was born in America, but was raised in Haiti. Mardi comes to America at the height of the Haitian Revolution. Mardi has problems adjusting to the abrupt changes in her once happy and serene life. She is the American who has to learn English. The daughter who doesn't really know her parents. She also holds inside the atrocities she witnessed before coming to America. Jaira's story telling hold its own with the immigrants stories of Edwidge Danticat, Julia Alvarez and Amy Tan. I really enjoyed entering Mardi's world and I think you will too.
I hope you give this young and daring writer a chance.
Walk in Their Shoes.......2002-02-10
Mardi is quietly determined to do well in America, even though she is resentful about having to come. The arrival of a "lost" uncle and a boy he is taking care of sets off a string of events that break through the icy core of reserve she has been harboring since her arrival.
This is another book that gives you a better understanding of another culture - or perhaps a deeper understanding of your own. The complex lives of people who have come to America and left their own country are sensitively portrayed here. The central story, although a bit predictable, is told so sympathetically that you can practically feel the individual and separate joys and pains of each person.

Book Description
The Fresh Voices series was inspired by a writing contest of by the same name that identified high school writers interested in composing book-length works for young adults. Working with a professional editor, the young authors spent the summer learning about the book industry and meeting journalists while writing their individual books, both fiction and nonfiction. The four titles in this series represent the first four winners of the contest.
Readers are urged to reject the material desolation and moral depravity of the pop-cultured American status quo in this forceful and heartfelt work of nonfiction by a 17-year-old author. While there are no doubt powerful cultural forces acting against a happier way of life, a more sturdy path to happiness and fulfillment based upon God and Christ can be found, if one is willing to seek it. To help lead the reader onto a better path, Biblical references from the New International Version and The Message offer insight into more responsible dealings with such commonplace subjects as materialism, relationships, spiritual fulfillment, and the filtering out of the media.

Book review.......2007-05-09
Great book. Very mature perspective for such a young lady. Good material for open discussion in a youth group. Covers a broad range of important topics.
Incredible book for young women.......2005-07-04
This book is an awesome resource for girls and young women! Tessa is an inspiring voice for this generation.
"Confessions of a Girl" covers all of the facets that teen girls face emotionally, physically and spiritually. This can be read as a non-fiction book and/or can also be used as a devotional; it is rich with Scripture and there are areas to write down notes and thoughts. The strong message is sent home of building our lives around Christ so He may fully use us.
Congratulations Tessa; I know God will greatly use your book to impact those who read it. Thanks for sharing your heart and experiences with us!
Awesome!.......2005-06-03
I haven't read the book yet either, but I met Tessa last summer and she is an AMAZING young woman! She inspires me, and I hope that her message will reach many people.
Go Tessa!.......2005-06-01
I haven't had the pleasure of reading Tessa's book yet, but she is an AWESOME young woman of God and I have no doubt God will use her in many great ways, and one of them being through this book. So be sure to read it!
Congrats Tessa!

Book Description
A New York Times Bestselling Author
Lucinda Hunter has been alone in the Connecticut farmhouse that was once her mother's. Her life has become a small thing. One July morning as she sits near the window, something in the garden catches her eye: a little girl in shorts and a t-shirt, her bare feet in outsize sneakers. Taken with the girl's sweet nature and generosity of spirit, Lucinda gradually finds herself drawn back into the world.
Customer Reviews:
Somewhat implausible, but forgivable..........2006-02-23
It's hard to believe that someone who had been a virtual recluse for 27 years could start venturing outside again simply because of a few moments with a spunky 9-year-old. That aside, the book is full of wonderful characterizations, likeable personas that make you wish you could know Kat or her grandmother. I was happy to learn there was a sequel to their story.
A Little Girl Touches The Life of an Agoraphobic Woman.......2004-12-06
I enjoyed mostly all of this book by Allen. Lucinda was the main character, who after her mother's death, and learning she was part black, became a terrible recluse. Going out of the house at all terrified her to pieces, and all she could do was stay buried in her own little world indoors.
When Katayna, a black little girl waves to Lucinda in the window, Lucinda is curious. So Lucinda goes out to see what the little girl wants, and strikes an instant strong friendship. This special friendship with Katayna, just might pull Lucinda out of her shell, and force her to examine her life in the past.
Little by little, Lucinda begins to go places and overcome her fear of whatever-which I never understood what it was.
A worthwhile read.
Implausible, yes. Immensely engaging fairytale, YES!.......2004-03-13
This story is completely transparent, sometimes contived in its name-dropping-for-authenticity-sake style, but it is nevertheless an enjoyable read that focuses on interior issues rather than suspenseful plot-driven drama. Too much surface, not enough substance with regard to agoraphobia and its limitations, as well as the tired romanticized plotline could cause realists to disregard its character-clarity. However, the omnivorous reader will find much to like in the self-ruminations of these individuals, implausibility, aside. I was looking for a light-hearted story without the "Nora Roberts" formula. The sequel, however, simply screams ROMANCE NOVEL. As much as I liked being in this flawed character's head, the author lost me at the end while she was setting up the sequel.
Readable.......2003-12-09
This is a hard book to review. On one hand, it is a very readable story- it is easy to while away a snowy afternoon turning the pages and absorbing yourself in this book. However, there are SO many faults with the plot. THe story is way too contrived- woman almost never leaves the house, does not speak to anyone over the phone except to place work orders, sees a little girl in her backyard, and within 8 days she is transformed. She's called old friends, made new ones, got a new job... And all because of a too precocious 9 year old girl! It has to be fiction. Never has there been such a neat, happy, ending, where all things are as they should be. Near the end of th book, Lucinda is remarking that she can't beleive it's only been a month...well, neither can we. It's totally impossible to beleive that this could happen to anyone.
But plausibility aside, the book has its moments. The language is simple, and for anyone who does not wish to see a bad ending, this is perfect.
I wanted to love this book, but it irritated me instead.......2003-10-06
I really wanted to love this book -- the story sounds so engaging and uplifting, with an inner-city child from the Fresh Air Fund opening up the life of a reclusive young woman. However, I ended up irritated by it instead: the twists and turns of the plot are so far-fetched, particularly the sudden and radical effect the child has on the life of the main character. The way in which the child suddenly appears and instantly rescues someone who's been deeply mired in agoraphobia for years just doesn't seem convincing -- the author is using a "deus ex machina" scenario to solve some very complex problems. The book tries hard to tug at the reader's heartstrings, but for me, the story just never rang true.
