Book Description
When an older woman meets TWO younger men determined to become a part of her life, the result is SMOKIN'! As this unique relationship heats up and an interloper threatens to destroy their happiness, Kendall Aaronson's strength and determination are the only things standing in his way.
Customer Reviews:
First book in an powerful series.......2007-10-02
4.5 blue ribbons
Kendall Aaronson is stunned by the intense attraction she feels toward two young men who visit her store. She isn't sure how to handle her emotions towards them and is most troubled by the obvious age gap - Kendall's thirty-two years old and she learns that both young men are college students. She may be uncomfortable with the situation but there's no denying the mix of excitement and apprehension she experiences whenever Joshua and Sutter are nearby - and they seem to be showing up everywhere she goes.
Joshua Reed and Sutter Campbell have a unique friendship. From an early age they've shared a bond that allows them to communicate without words - often simply through touch or even thought. They understand and appreciate their bond so when they meet Kendall and are about to `touch' her telepathically, they know that she's meant for them. What they don't expect is for their friendship to undergo some major changes and the resulting repercussions.
Kendall doesn't understand what's going on... even her dreams are filled with Joshua and Sutter and there's just no escaping the constant state of arousal she's been living with ever since she first met the duo. She finally caves in and officially introduces herself to them and they quickly become inseparable. She soon discovers that Joshua and Sutter have tamped down their own desires both for each other and career wise because of Sutter's father's influence in their lives. She has an idea for eliminating David Campbell's control over Joshua and Sutter's lives but David is one determined man and Kendall's interference is definitely not appreciated. Will Kendall be able to uncover the real reason behind David's closed-minded attitude before he destroys the newfound love that she has found with Joshua and Sutter?
Readers will fall in love with this trio and cheer for them through each challenge they face and conquer. Rachel Bo's DOUBLE JEOPARDY presents readers with a tantalizing story full of emotional encounters, unforgettable sex scenes, and characters you can't help but adore. I loved Kendall's take charge attitude and how she wouldn't back down to David. There's no doubt that she's a very strong woman and more than capable of taking on a powerful man like Sutter's father - and winning! It's very easy to lose yourself in this storyline and read it from beginning to end in one sitting and still want more. Fortunately, Rachel Bo continued this series with three other books so be sure to check out her website to learn more about them.
If you'd like to learn more about David's story and what's driven him to turn out the way he has then I'd highly suggest picking up a copy of DANGER IN DISCOVERY.

a definite keeper!!!!.......2007-08-02
This is an excellent book. It grabbed my attention from page 1 and i couldn't put it down. It was a shame to finish it. I liked all the characters, especially Sutter. Both men are Hot and I wish I had them in real life for myself. I think that u will enjoy it too, if you are into this genre. I will recommend this book to everyone i know. It it has a spot on my bookshelf forever!!! Enjoy
An unconventional love ..........2006-01-03
[Note: This review was originally written about the digital edition of this book.]
Kendall Aaronson felt an immediate spark of interest when Josh and Sutter entered her art gallery. But this was an unlikely match - what could these two "hunky" young men of college age see in herself, a Rubenesque woman of thirty-two? What was the attraction she felt, not just for one of the men, but for both together? As the relationship grows, Kendall, Josh, and Sutter discover a deep, soul-satisfying connection, as if the three of them were meant to be together.
However, Sutter's father, a well-to-do lawyer, cannot condone such an unusual arrangement, and throws as many obstacles as possible into their path. Can their love survive his hostility?
This novel-length story was very interesting. I don't usually like menage a trois stories, but this one was well told. I liked the characters - they are sympathetic and well written. I particularly liked Kendall--her low self-esteem due to her size and age rings true in our society, and I was pleased to see her confidence grow and flower as the story developed. The relationship is loving, and egalitarian, with no sense of force or coercion into "kinky" sex. The love scenes were extremely hot, and even the male/male sex scenes communicated sensitivity and caring among this loving group. -- Jean, Fallen Angel Reviews (courtesy of Fallen Angel Reviews)
HOT and STEAMY!!!!!!.......2005-04-12
This book was was steaming from the first page. Anyone who is a fan of the Ellora's Cave books will know what to expect. But R. Bo is one of their new stars. I hope to read much more by her, because with this book I am a fan. Anyone who wants romance and steamy love scenes, this book is for you.
rachael bo at her best.......2005-04-04
the male/female/male idea is a hot fantasy. Double Jeopardy gives readers plenty of hot scenes on this subject matter but i want to add the story also shows readers the deep connection and love between these three people. kendall owns a bookstore. it is there she first meets Sutter and his long time friend Joshua. they're ten years younger than Kendall but from the very beginning Sutter and Josh knew Kendall was their soulmate. Sutter and Josh have a six sense where they're able to know what the other is feeling and thinking. when they stepped into the book store and spotted Kendall they felt it. she was the missing part of the puzzle. she was their soulmate. Kendall also felt it, yet was unable to identify what it all meant. coming to realize there was something special between the three of them Kendall, Sutter, and Josh moved in together. they loved one another, but Sutter's father was doing everything in his power to seperate his son from Josh. Sutter informed his father he and Josh were not gay but words weren't enough for David. when Kendall agreed to marry Sutter they thought his father would leave Josh alone but for some unknown reason(which you'll discover later in the story) he's set on getting Josh out of his son's life. shortly after another wedding takes place where the three are joined together. i throughly enjoyed everything in this book. the book is basically about the three characters but it does include Brandy, Kendall's best friend. Sutter's father, and a couple surprise characters. if you are a reader who enjoys a spicy hot romantic story that includes male/female/male sex you'll love Double Jeopardy Strength In Numbers. i consider this one of Rachel Bo's best book to date! if you haven't read it give it a try. you won't be sorry.

Book Description
Nearly two-thirds of adolescent offenders currently held in juvenile justice facilities across the United States meet the criteria for one or more mental disorders—a fact that has many parents, healthcare providers, and legislatures wondering about our mental health systems for children. Have these systems failed so badly that we must arrest our children for crimes in order for them to receive help?
In Double Jeopardy, leading researcher Thomas Grisso considers the newest data on the nature of mental disorders in youth—examining, for example, their relationship to delinquency, the values and limits of various treatment methods, and common, related patterns of adolescent offending—and then charts a course for practitioners working within today’s juvenile justice system.
Grisso carefully evaluates the threefold obligations of the juvenile justice system: as a custodian of children with health needs, a legal system promoting fairness in youth adjudication, and protector of public safety. Double Jeopardy provides a scientific and practical foundation for lawmakers, judges, attorneys, and mental health care professionals, as well as researchers in mental health and adolescent development.

Customer Reviews:
Poor Karsh and Ileana.......2004-12-04
The twins finally meet their mother in this book and something has happened to Ileana's powers....what happened? In the meantime, the twins have to save Dylan from danger when he tries to help someone. We also met some more family members in the DuBaer family. The ending was so sad. I think everyone should check out this book.
Absolutlely fantastic :) :).......2002-11-17
I thought this books layout was virtually enthralling. From the opening sentence I was hooked by Cam's and Alex's mixed up family tree and unpredictable powers. I found myself wishing that they could find their mother and become a happy family, even thoughh I knew that it was unlikely that would be the scenario. I encouarge anyone who enjoys the suspense of a mystery novel along with the magic that could only be matched by a J.K. Rowling book to pick up, not only this book, but the whole series.
Double awsome!!.......2002-10-30
I think that this is the best book its awsome the eding is sad but the first few chapters are really interesting its the easiest one to get into but read the books in order so you understand it. You find some really amazing things about Ileana aand you don't know what to think.I was shocked.I found out about Thantos and it really makes you think about him but anyway i dont want to give away all the good parts cause there are better ones that will make you wish all the books were out already.I hope that this was helpful [...].
Everyone should read it!!!!.......2002-09-29
This is better than the other books! I've never read anything with more suspense and excitement! This book will get you hanging on every word! I recomend this book to anybody who loves T*Witches! You won't regret it.

Book Description
In America, it is illegal to prosecute a person for the same crime, no matter what the circumstances. It is a law intended to protect the innocent from unfair harassment and persecution.
But sometimes it protects the guilty as well.
Guilty As Sin
The circumstantial evidence against southern businessman Mel Ignatow was solid -- effectively damning him for the savage 1988 sex torture/slaying of his former girlfriend, Brenda Schaefer. There was motive, unimpeachable forensic evidence . . . even testimony from an eyewitness who took photographs of the gruesome, horrific crime. But in a Kentucky courtroom, frustration, ignorance, incompetence and fate pulled a supposedly open-and-shut case in shocking, unexpected directions -- and tied the concept of American justice into knots that might never be undone.
Customer Reviews:
5 stars for a fantastic true crime book.......2007-02-12
Very well written. Intriguing page after page. One of those books you can't put down, and one you will think about long after you've finished it. True case of justice gone wrong.
Ignatow proclaimed his innocence, went through a murder trial and was acquitted. Evidence comes out later to prove that he did commit the gruesome murder and he later admitted to it. Our justice system prevents someone who is acquitted from being retried for the same crime.. thus, he was never punished in our justice system for the murder.
Frustrating, yes.. but imagine if our justice system was able to retry someone over and over after they've been acquitted?
Overall, an excellent book!!
Haunting.......2006-07-29
I have lived in Louisville, Kentucky all my life. The whole time I was reading the book, I could see everything perfectly in my minds eye. There were so many threads that ran through my own life. Father Osborn, Dr Spaulding, Ehrler's, etc. She was buried in a small patch of trees that ran along the high school I attended. There was a concession stand in the back of the school that faced those woods. I couldn't tell you the nuber of times I looked into those tree's while working for my brother's little league ball team. Bob Hill did a wonderful job on this book.
Great police work, but Ignatow got lucky.......2006-07-11
Shortly after Brenda Schaefer went missing, the family was sure her fiancé Mel Ignatow was responsible. This is the story about the diligence and frustration of the police, DA, FBI and Schaefer family in trying to get Ignatow behind bars. Although the circumstantial evidence and testimony of his accomplice was strong, without any physical evidence, Ignatow was able to get an acquittal on the murder and torture charges. Then solid physical evidence was found just before the perjury trial. Even with the evidence against him, because of the double jeopardy rule, Ignatow was only charged with perjury and 8 years in prison, so he basically got away with a brutal and heartless murder. This would have been much harder to read if the DA's office had decided not to pursue a way to put him away even for a short time. Thanks to their doggedness, Ignatow will have served some time. Very well written.
Great True Crime - If you like Anne Rule - You'll love this........2002-11-11
I did not think that I could find a true crime writer on par with Anne Rule, boy was I wrong. This story is horrifying!! But the book is well written, with the utmost respect for the victim and the surviving family. You will not be able to put it down.
Fascinating.......2002-02-27
being that I am from the same area, this book made my spine tingle. Bob Hill is a great writer and opens the investigation up to you.

"A THRILLER WITH NONSTOP ACTION."
--The Armchair Detective
When mobster Al Moroconi is charged with orchestrating a heinous crime against a young woman, the first defense attorney on the case mysteriously disappears. Now, Travis Byrne--a smart Dallas cop who recently traded his badge for a law degree--is appointed by a federal judge to speak for the defense.
But just as the trial is getting under way, Moroconi shoots his way out of court custody, steals a car, and vanishes into the Dallas underworld--taking Travis's reputation with him. Suddenly the FBI is after Travis for a murder he didn't commit. The mob wants to kill him for a secret hit list he doesn't have. Running for his life, Travis comes to a horrifying realization: the charge against Moroconi is just a cover for something much bigger and more foul....
"Two lawyers on the lam from the mob, the cops, and the FBI move this tale through Dallas neighborhoods and corrupt institutions faster than a hanging judge can bang a gavel. . . . This novel proves as engaging as Bernhardt's earlier work, with its appealing pair of heroes."
--Publishers Weekly
"A straight-ahead thriller . . . A fun ride."
--Tulsa World
Customer Reviews:
Superbly stupid.......2006-09-06
As an avid reader of several genres, I was completely disappointed with Berhhardt's (Bryne?)Double Jeopardy. I suppose the jeopardy was in buying the book. The first few pages, including the opening trial scene were fairly good - then the plot becomes increasingly incredible, implausible, and just plain silly. A crime/legal/murder novel should at least have some plausibility - this book has zero. I only kept reading it to see how inane the plot would become. I ended up hating the book so much, I would not have been displeased had the hero been put out of his misery - that ending might have redeemed the book.
A waste of time........2004-07-17
As a fan of William Bernhardt I am sorely disappointed. I've enjoyed tremendously other titles by him and was expecting, if not a flawless book, at least one that would not stretch my easily stretchable credulity past the breaking point. It's a silly book. I'm grateful I checked it out from the library.
DOUBLE RATES A HIGH FIVE!!!!!.......2002-04-08
I have read all the so called "Justice" books by Bernhardt but I think I liked this one the best of any of his I have read.Travis Byrne is the new hero. He is an ex-cop with a law degree, but don't let that fool you, he is not good in fights or pulling the trigger. His new clint shoots his way out of the courthouse and takes off. He along with some other people try to make it look like Travis was in on the shoot out. Byrne ends up with many different groups looking for him, the mob, the local police, the FBI and one person acting on his own. He does get some help from two unexpected people. There is lots of action, it is a very fast moving book. I found my self nearly skimming pages to find out what happened next. Has a great ending. Surprising, to me, but great.
A Waste of Time and Money.......2000-11-18
What a disappointment! I bought this book because I like the genre, and because of the glowing reviews already posted on this site. Unfortunately, I found the plot to be utterly reposterous, and the dialogue weak. This book was very poorly written.
I NEVER KNEW 'WHO DONE IT' - TILL THE VERY END!.......2000-09-14
I love GOOD mysteries - especially those involving court cases; cops and lawyers and Bernardt certainly gives me all that in his books. He also respects his characters - and I love the fact that, be it Travis Byrne or Bern Kincaid (his main lawyering men), uphold the law and fight for the rights of the defendant no matter how much we hate the crime. The law is the law! I totally appreciate the fact that the secretary/paralegal/female attorney character's in his book(s) are treated with respect and given intelligence and a sense of humor. All of Bernard's books have the same theme - and that is that justice does prevail and one way or another and that crime does not pay. Good stuff Bernardt. I can't wait till I tackle the next own. So glad to know that the caliber of writing I respect is out there and that Bernardt provides it.

Book Description
This volume traces the history of the Double Jeopardy Clause of the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution. It shows that the constitutional guarantee against double jeopardy has its roots in ancient Jewish and early Greek and Roman law. After recapping the history of the clause the Supreme Court's current interpretation of the clause is explained. This book describes the circumstances in which the premature termination of an individual's trial bars a subsequent trail for the same offense. It also examines when the Clause prohibits the government from imposing multiple punishments for the same offense. The final chapter includes a discussion of bibliographical sources.

Book Description
"Double Jeopardy recounts the twin stories spanning two generations of two pairs of male buddies. . . . Transglobal gunrunning, insurrection in a Malaysian rubber plantation, storm-tossed stowaways, mutiny at high sea, armed bank robberies, cannibalism under the streets of Paris and, of course, the infinite complications of unrequited love—all drive the reader from page to page. Yet it is Echenoz's voice, the most distinctive French voice of his generation, that holds us under its spell with its legerdemain of witty turns of phrase, inspired metaphors, fresh pop culture allusions, and the wackiest cast of characters this side of a David Lynch movie."—Washington Post Book World.

Too Much Irony.......2003-05-06
Echenoz is a big cheese in French lit, and having kind of enjoyed his 1983 Prix Médicis-winning book Cherokee, I thought I'd check out this 1987 novel of his. The thing I didn't like about Cherokee was its huge cast of characters, and again, there are a lot of people to keep track of and quite a lot happens, but none of it seems to be of any consequence. Kind of a style over substance problem. The plot can barely be summarized, but basically it revolves around gunrunning. Parisians Paul and Bob sell guns illegally and are interested in Justine. Jeff (aka Jean-Francois, AKA Pons, AKA Duke) and Charles need guns to stir up a little trouble in Malaysia so that Jeff can be a plantation manager/feudal lord without any interference from the pesky owners. They both used to be interested in Justine's mother, Nicole, and Charles is also Paul's uncle. Finally, there are some Belgian gangsters, Plankaert, Toon, and Van Os, who are mad that Paul and Bob won't sell them guns and thus kidnap Justine. (If you intend to read the book, do yourself a favor and print this out, 'cause trying to keep it straight as you're reading ain't easy.)
What sounds simple and straightforward above, really isn't in Echenoz's fractured style. He playfully hops, skips, and jumps, all over the place, and while it's not an experimental work, it's a far cry from traditional narrative structure. It's more about the rhythm of the story and the irony and comedy derived from his telling a series of melodramatic events in a exceedingly deadpan way. There's the kidnapping or two, a mutiny, bank robbery, worker uprising, lost loves, unrequited longing, long-lost relations, and all manner of melodrama. Some scenes are quite wonderful and witty, however, the story is never really taken seriously by the author, and thus the book is kind of a big piece of steaming irony. (It's not without reason that there's an academic work in French titled, "Irony in the Works of Echenoz"). It gets pretty tiresome after the first quarter of the book, and I don't think I'll be bothering to seek out any more of his stuff, although the Prix Goncourt-winning I'm Gone is supposed to be quite good.
