Book Description
Courageous Souls explores the premise that we are all eternal souls who plan our lives, including our greatest challenges, prior to birth for purposes of spiritual growth. The book contains ten true stories of people who planned physical illness, having handicapped children, deafness, blindness, drug addiction, alcoholism, losing a loved one, and severe accidents. Because very different life challenges are often planned for similar reasons, readers who have not faced these specific challenges will nevertheless see themselves - and their motivations as a soul - in these stories. As readers come to realize that they themselves planned their lives, suffering that once seemed purposeless becomes imbued with deep meaning. Wisdom may be acquired in a more conscious manner; feelings of anger, guilt, blame, and victimization are replaced by acceptance, forgiveness, peace, and gratitude.

courageous souls-Do we plan our life challanges before birth?.......2007-10-15
This book is FANTASTIC!
Everyone has a story and has things going on in their life. This book makes everything that happens to you make sense. It allows you to understand why you have ended up where you are in life. Why you have chosen certain paths. And allows you to understand and be at peace with other peoples choices and the way they live their life.
I just loved it.Everyone should have a copy.It is well written, easy to understand and informative. But above all..it just makes sense. And things seem alot more clear to me than they did before I read the book.I loved it.For anyone who needs alittle hope or clarity in their lives..read this book.
Slow read.......2007-10-12
This book has some interesting ideas but it is a slow read. Not too sure if I would recommend.
Karma is more than payback.......2007-10-11
This book really changed my perspective on my current life situation. I was quite negative about the situation I'm dealing with, feeling it was just the result of past lives in which I had incurred very bad karma and I would just have to live through it. But, after reading this book, I believe I am living this life because of contracts I made in the pre-birth planning. That changes everything for me - if I agreed to the challenges I'm working with because I wanted to help one I love, there can be no resentment, just gratitude for being able to help, and love for the one I'm struggling with. Thank you, Robert Schwartz, what a gift!
So that's why . . ........2007-10-08
If you ever want to get into the backside of your pre-birth planning of your life challenges, read Courageous Souls by Robert Schwartz. Want to know why you attract illness, accidents, birth defects? Want to know why you chose a life of alcoholism or drug addiction, or are around someone who has? Read this book. The stories, while may start out slow at first, are powerful and insightful. Just stick with them. Robert uses mediums who are able to access multiple guides at one time, and your primary guide and listen in on conversations between you and your soul group.
not credible.......2007-09-30
I got to p. 300 and started reading another book. I found this book painstakingly slow to read, the information provided by the mediums: farfetched, and the conclusions drawn by the author, hard to swallow. Often, when mediums are tired, their accuracy rate diminishes. I never heard of any of the mediums used in this book. Robert Schwartz makes everything so complicated when the subject matter is really quite easy to understand. The book just doesn't flow easily and it's not a page turner in my opinion. I'm a believer, but this book really is a waste of time and money. Read Journey of the Soul by Michael Newton, PhD. Instead of using mediums, he enters the superconsciousness of his clients and elicits information from them directly about their experiences on The Other Side.
Book Description
Love is one of the most exhilarating emotions we experience-unfortunately, it is also one of the most painful and sometimes traumatic. The unresolved emotional scars from a broken heart can manifest as a "love trauma syndrome." Until now, a love trauma was thought to precipitate other common psychiatric conditions, such as depression or adjustment disorders, but these generic psychiatric ailments are not adequate for articulating the full and unique character of the condition following love trauma.
The Love Trauma Syndrome: Free Yourself from the Pain of a Broken Heart fills the need of patients feeling isolated, ashamed, or alone in their anguish. Dr. Richard Rosse, a psychiatrist with expertise in the area of emotional breakdown, provides a concrete path to help people understand this condition. At times, the syndrome can seriously diminish the sufferer's quality of life, and dramatically impair social, academic, and occupational activities. Dr. Rosse warns that there can also be bouts of severe manifestations, things go horribly wrong. Patients may end up committing suicide. A few become so obsessed by their lost loves that they are driven to stalk, attack, or murder these persons and then ultimately commit suicide. However, most patients suffer alone and in silence without ever resorting to an act of physical violence.
Dr. Rosse clearly explains that Love Trauma Syndrome is a clinical disorder of "too much memory" in which the past intrudes upon the present to influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to a much greater extent than is expected. It can also be associated with a variety of other behavioral problems: the avoidance of future loving relationships, nervousness, feeling "unreal" or out of place, anger, and sleep disturbances. The book will educate mental health clinicians on how to recognize and treat people with the syndrome, and Dr. Rosse discusses a variety of psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatment options and their rationale.
The Love Trauma Syndrome is the first book to describe the condition and to present a full array of self-help strategies and specific techniques tailored to help those suffering from a love trauma. Designed for both lay and professional audiences, it is the ideal resource for anyone-male or female, young or old, gay or straight-hurt by love to understand what to do to escape the bleak prison of misery.
Customer Reviews:
FINALLY! Somebody gets it!.......2007-09-05
Dr. Rosse has finally brought forth the most realistic description of what it is like to be betrayed by the one you loved most. He compares the pain and resulting mental and emotional anquish with post-traumatic stress, which is exactly how a broken heart through the discovery of infidelity, abandonment, and the resulting fear and grief manifests.
Dr. Rosse gives you the information, validation, and path back to inner peace, so you can work through the trauma with calm and clarity. This is the first book I recommend to anyone who is feeling like they have had their heart ripped out and can barely get through each day without falling apart, or feeling like they are going insane.
Kudos to Dr. Rosse. I hope other therapists out there will begin to realized that the pain of a broken heart over a break-up or discovery of an affair is not always something that can be healed with a course in self esteem, healthy food, and exercise - or TIME. With the high rate of marital infidelity and the desensitization that people have developed toward affairs due to the glamorazation of cheating by the media, those who are truly suffering and are at risk for falling into major depression or worse.
Every Mental Health professional should read this book to recognize when their client or patient is trapped in this syndrome.
LTS is not a trivial condition, as it can be associated with intense emotional distress and social and occupational impairment. The importance of LTS is minimized by both practiced mental health clinicians and the lay public.
LTS can be complicated by other psychiatric disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and substance or alcohol abuse.
The long duration of some cases of Love Trauma Syndrome demonstrates that sometimes, without treatment, time does not heal all wounds.

Book Description
The revolutionary new therapy to help heal trauma and relieve eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR(r)) has helped thousands of clients haunted by abuse histories or recent traumatic events. It also benefits patients who have not found relief with other therapies and those with chronic conditions or blocked personal and professional performance. EMDR(r) therapy incorporates eye movements into a comprehensive approach that processes and releases information trapped in the body-mind, freeing people from disturbing images and body sensations, debilitating emotions, and restrictive beliefs. Not only does healing occur much more rapidly than in traditional therapy, but clients also experience a sense of joy, openness, and deep connection with others. EMDR(r) seems to be a quantum leap in the human ability to heal trauma and maladaptive beliefs.

Easy to read and helpful for understanding the process of EMDR. I would have to agree with the previous reviewer Laura M that PEACEFUL HEART : A Woman's Journey to Healing is a must-read. Aimee Jo Martin's story clearly illustrates and details her journey with successful EMDR treatments. Quite powerful if you want to really see how effective EMDR can be.
Awesome book! Easy for the lay person to understand!.......2001-11-27
This book was just what I needed to learn about EMDR. She brought everything to a level very easy to comprehend. Many case studies. Just an all around excellent read!
Not too clear.......2001-08-20
This book provides a wealth of clinical examples of EMDR, but doesn't provide any information about what EMDR is or any understanding about how it works. The author admits that she is "not trained as a cognitive-behaviorist" and thus rationalizes her lack of explanation of the theory of EMDR. The author is also an EMDR trainer, which calls into question her choice of case studies. EMDR is a patented method (as the little "r's in a circle" keep reminding us) and it would seem that the author thus has a conflict of interest in selecting which case histories are described. The cases are presented in a gee whiz style that undercuts any sense of objectivity, and as a consequence, the books ends up sounding like a long info-mercial. Too bad, because EMDR is an interesting therapy, but may benefit from a more objective approach than what is given here.
I recommend this book to clients all the time:.......1999-07-31
I frequently recommend this book to clients who are interested in EMDR. It is very readable and conveys some of the power of EMDR. I find it more client friendly than the Shapiro books which are also good.

Customer Reviews:
Good advice........2004-01-24
This book is an excellent read for those of us who continually make stupid relationship decisions. Why do I let myself fall for the same type of person over and over when I know it will only lead to emotional pain for me? This book tells us so much about the ways of getting into these kinds of patterns, how to recognize them, and then how to move on. Everyone should give this book a try, even if you think you've never had any problems.
This book combined with ýPsychic Giftsý can change your Life.......2003-12-06
I really liked this book. I am an avid reader and would recommend adding this book to your must read list. Another book that really impressed me is Psychic Gifts in the Christian Life - Tools to Connect, by Tiffany Snow, pub. 2003. In this time of increasing awareness for the need to help our relationships, workplace, family, self and environment, these two books are at the forefront of giving us the tools to do so - not only by positive reinforcements, but in the case of "Psychic Gifts," showing we have a Divine birthright to access the supernatural in our lives, and how to tap into that. I encourage you to Keep Reading, apply what you learn, and be a force for good in your part of the world.
This is not just for those with a Sensitive Heart........2003-07-06
Healing the Sensitive Heart: How to stop getting hurt, build your inner strength, and find the love you deserve by Debra Mandel, Ph.D.
I thought I would be the worst candidate to get something out of reading this book. I am not one of the sensitive hearted people that Dr. Mandel is referring to, but there are many such people in my life. I may be a magnet for sensitive hearted people. I learned from reading this book that I can help my sensitive hearted friends.
I have friends and relatives whose sensitive hearts have kept them trapped in a fantasy world. They sell themselves short because they have been "taught" that their own feelings do not matter-they exist to serve the will of their parents or some other childhood character. Dr. Mandel shows a path that sensitive-hearted people can follow to become Thrivers. Thrivers enjoy life and give back to the world more than they take. Thrivers have a balance between serving their own needs and responding to the legitimate needs of others.
I recommend this book for the happy soul mates and friends of sensitive hearted people. We can benefit when we understand the likely genesis and resolution of behaviors that are so odd to those of us without sensitive hearts. Thank you Dr. Debra.
Excellent Book!.......2003-07-01
As a therapist myself, I am on the look-out for books that would be helpful to my clients. "Healing the Sensitive Heart" is an outstanding resource! Written with clarity, compassion, deep respect for people, and belief in their capacity to change and grow, it resonates with authenticity. It provides an excellent analysis of the inner life and behaviours of the "sensitive-hearted", and clear, effective strategies for restoring balance and achieving a healthy relationship with self and others.
I highly recommend this book!
Healing the Wounds that Bind Us.......2003-06-28
So many of us are damaged in childhood, many times carrying around unresolved baggage that keeps us stuck and unable to live our best lives. This delightful and insightful book helps us understand what has molded us into who we are, and then gives us the tools to move towards a more rewarding and fulfilling life. 'Healing the Sensitive Heart' compassionately takes us on a journey of a millions miles by encouraging us not to be afraid of taking the first step.

Book Description
In this gripping book, mental health professionals who have worked with children exposed to war and violence share their knowledge and experiences. The contributors, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, address such topics as the ethical issues involved in working with children in war zones, children`s development under violent circumstances, post-traumatic stress disorder and other stress reactions, refugee children, "survivor guilt," interventions and treatments, and the emotional health of the caretakers.
Product Description
This first-of-its-kind compilation of original prose, poetry, and art is written by veterans -- primarily Vietnam vets, yet with contributions by veterans of World War II, Korea, and Desert Storm -- with combat-induced trauma disorders. Soldier's Heart seeks to illuminate the range of emotions and reactions to diagnosis that often characterize individuals healing from PTSD. In the process, this book offers survivors and their families a sense of community, helping to dispel the isolation frequently felt by people with trauma disorders. Contributions for this book were solicited from veterans outreach programs, military service organizations, and at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. They were selected and edited by the National Trauma Institute at Baltimore, a non-profit organization founded to promote the study and treatment of trauma-related disorders. The editorial board includes a Marine Vietnam veteran and his wife, as well as trauma treatment professionals. The 200 works in Soldier's Heart depict an outpouring of emotion which covers all aspects of combat trauma. The book begins with the awareness that something is wrong, and then moves through the frustrations of seeking help. Soldier's Heart ends with veterans' attempts to make sense of their ordeal and live in peace with the society around them: "...reclaiming my life, molecule by molecule... climbing out of the shadow of war." Spouses, therapists, friends, families, and those who would like to understand -- from the veteran's point of view -- what the long-term consequences of trauma can be are invited to read and share the words of those who live the experience.

really good.......2002-01-06
The 4th book in this series was really really well done. I hardly ever rate books with 5 stars, but this book deserved every one of them! It is a must read if you love this series. I can't wait for book 5. ...
Excellent Contiuation.......2001-08-07
The fourth book in this series is just as good as the others. The author(s) do a wonderful job at drawing the relationship out between Zee girl and Tristan. I want them together so bad!!! Also, they really get into their psyche. The reader feels like he or she knows the two main characters on a personal level. More is found out about Summer and Erin, who is continuing her visit at Effing-huh! as well as Tristan's friends Stevie and Billie. The cliffhanger is a cliffhanger to end all other cliffhangers, per usual with this series, and the medical information and suspense escalates. I can't wait for the fifth book, PROGNOSIS HEARTBREAK, which is supposed to come out fall 2001 and center around Tristan in a totally unexpected way. Ahh!
GREAT!.......2000-09-16
Cherie's done it again! This book was REALLY good. It was mostly aboutZoey and Tristan.... How about Chad and his crush? It answered a lot of questions that have arised, but it also made new ones. And at the end of the book your left with a new cliffhanger. I can't wait for Book #5!
BEST BOOK....Looking forward for more.......2000-09-16
Cherie Bennett has done it again! This book was incredible. It's basically about Tristan and Zoey and what will become of them? What will happen to Summer? And, what about Zoey's best friend? What does she want? Read it! It's amazing!
