Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

2 out of 5 stars Sophomores only.......2007-09-04

This book is useful only as an introduction. Corduan's claims and arguments will resonate with those who already share his assumptions, but they will never stand the light of day.

The author claims that evangelical Christianity is true and can be defended even by people who do not specialize in apologetics. The book is organized in chapters that begin with what are supposed to be engaging vignettes, which serve the purpose of introducing the subject matter of the particular chapter. After the content is presented, the vignettes are revisited with responses from the author based on the conclusions of the chapter. Each chapter ends with a list of goals that the reader should have accomplished, as well as a set of questions for further study, and a brief bibliography.

As is common in philosophical writing, the book begins with the defining of terms. Since this book is written for college students with limited experience in philosophy, quite a bit of space is dedicated to explaining terms and ideas such as faith, reason, doubt, truth, and knowledge. Realizing that although people are generally rational, people are not simply rational, but are subject to their individual worldviews, Corduan takes two chapters to establish the possibility of finding common ground with unbelievers with which to test worldviews, and then critiques several common worldviews including atheism, agnosticism, deism, pantheism, and panentheism.

Once the groundwork is laid, the author proceeds with an argument for the existence of God, a move typical of classical apologetics. Corduan chooses the cosmological argument for his proof. After accomplishing the task to his own satisfaction, he addresses the problem of evil. In a book full of weak moments, this is Corduan's weakest one. He dismisses with a weak argument the free will theodicy in favor of a greater-good theodicy and an unabashed admission of the necessity of evil.

In anticipation for addressing the resurrection, next the author gives a defense of miracles. At this point, Corduan considers himself to be on solid theistic ground, so that any claims or assumptions going forward are already admissible to his case for Christianity. In addition, a case is made for the possibility of reliable history. It is only at this point that Corduan gives any hint that he is at all aware of the encroachment of postmodernism.

After establishing the foundations of theism, the acceptance of miracles, and the reliability of historical documentation of real events, the author is ready to tackle the reliability of the New Testament documents and the historicity of the person of Jesus Christ. His defense of the New Testament is pretty standard with the exception of his citing Bertrand Russell as an example of someone who was repelled by the gospel accounts, ergo, the gospels cannot be altogether biased. His cites the usual external sources of Tacitus, Josephus, and the Talmud for the existence of the historical Jesus.

Even if the existence for a man named Jesus can be substantiated, was he the Messiah as is recorded in the New Testament? Corduan uses a version of C.S. Lewis' "Liar, Lunatic, or Lord" account adding a forth "L" - Legend. Oddly, he does not credit Lewis. For a defense of the virgin birth, he references J. Gresham Machen's account and Frank Morison's (not credited) case for the resurrection.

Finally Corduan draws the conclusion that Christianity is just what Jesus has taught that we should trust and obey, so that there is no disconnect between Christ and Christianity. The last chapter is a claim that Christianity is what society needs since it best represents what is true, good, and beautiful. These of course will be recognized as Platonic transcendentals, not necessarily Biblical ones.

3 out of 5 stars Covers a lot of ground without going indepth........2003-08-15

If you have never read any books on apologetics, this would be a good book to start with. If you are already familiar with, or enjoy the depth to books, such as those by Dallas Willard, Gregory Boyd, or CS Lewis, you may find find this book a bit dissapointing with it's covering-a-lot-of-ground, but only scratching-the-surface style.

5 out of 5 stars Well Written and Well Thought Out.......2001-05-25

This is a great beginning apologetics work! Through the use of solid logic skills, basic facts and modern day vignettes, Courduan offers practical and helpful arguments for the Christian faith. Unlike many apologetics book, NO DOUBT ABOUT It is written in a very understandable fashion. Corduan does not talk over the head of his readers but still is true to the academic difficulty of answering a skeptics questions. Written at a level that even late high school aged students can understand, this book is a great gift for students at graduation. In a remarkable way, Corduan blends academia with interesting practicality to produce a wonderful work of apologetics.

5 out of 5 stars A Solid Apologetics Text.......2001-01-07

This book is an excellent beginning work on apologetics. Corduan is a lucid communicator and author. This work is a prime example of how Corduan can take certain issues and bring them home for a broad audience. He covers all the essential elements of the Christian faith, and he also deals with the issue of truth; which is vital in this age of postmodernism. Moreover, Corduan covers the issues of worldviews, miracles, God and evil, the New Testament and History, the existence of God, and the importance of history, esp. as it pertains to Scripture. As you can see, Corduan is quite thorough in this work, and this makes for a great intro to apologetics text. Too bad this book has had such a short shelf life; but then again most good books do for some strange reason. Get Amazon to track this one down for you, it is worth the search.

5 out of 5 stars A very good and concrete introduction to apologetics.......1997-11-07

This book is very suited as an introduction to apologetics, and for group study. Each chapter is preceeded by some conversations (called "vignettes") the author had with different persons on the subject of the chapter. At the end of the chapter, one finds some answers/reflexions about the vignettes of the chapter, as well as some questions to master the content of the chapter and for further reflexions, and also a short bibliography for further exploration.

I find most of the chapters very good, except the presentation of the cosmological and teleological arguments.

A much more detailed (and somewhat less formally presented) introduction to Apologetics can be found in "When skeptics ask" by Norman Geisler. For a more philosophical introduction, see "Reason and Faith" by Ronald Nash. For those who want more, I can recommend all the books of Geisler, James Moreland, William Craig, Douglas Geivett, Gary Habermas.

5 out of 5 stars very well done no doubt transcriptions.......2007-04-23

I picked this book up when I started learning how to play bass. Tony Kanal (the bass player in No Doubt) is really amazing. This book has helped me to learn a lot of no doubt songs, as well as quite a bit of music theory. It really makes you appreciate No Doubt all the more. A must have for any guitar of bass players.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2004-10-25

This book basically taught me how to play guitar. Youll learn heaps of stuff if ur not too advanced already: tapping, hamonics etc. No songs on here are boring to play, not one is just power chords all the way through and theres quite a few really good solos.

No Doubt is my favourite band ever and I'm comletely in love with just about every peice of music theyve ever made. I know this is the sort of band a lot of people are obsessed with. If u are (or arent, doesnt matter) and ur thinking of learning guitar or bass, this books pretty spot on i think, and it really makes u appreciate the band so much more.

5 out of 5 stars YAY!!.......2004-05-01

This book is cool!! The first thing I looked at was the pictures and was stoked to see Adrian in an Iron Maiden shirt!! GO EDDIE GO!!

Anyway as far as the tabs are concerned, well I'm a drummer not a guitarist, but thankfully my brother is. This book pretty much got my band started (not long after catching ND live!), our singer Simonna had it and leant it to my brother to learn a bunch of ND's songs and that was that!! NOW WE ROCK!!! hahaha

As far as I could tell the tablature is quite accurate, the songs we learnt were Just a Girl, Excuse Me Mr, Sunday Morning, and Don't Speak I believe???? Who cares? It's just a cool book!!! SO BUY IT DAMN IT!!!!

5 out of 5 stars i loved your review!!!!!.......2001-09-19

i though it was great of you to say that they are a great band around and what i think is that that is so true and i love that band so much and i am glad you wrote the review

thanks john

When Nicole returns home, she is horrified when she discovers that her parents have gotten her a job with her seemingly perfect cousin, Gail. Gail, however, isn't as perfect as she seems to be.

Miguel proposed to Leah before she left for California. Now he seems to regret the impulsive decision he made, while Leah is considering accepting his proposal. The two talk it over. Will they keep their engagement?

      1 out of 5 stars No Doubt.......2003-12-10

I think that this book is a very good book to read for girls because moast of the characters are girls. This book ia about two grils that always get in trouble because they do stuff there not supposed to.The two girls have always been that way sinse they were relly small but now things are about to change because now that they are back from there trip they have to take responsability for there own actions and pay for watever the do now that one is eigteen and one seventeen. They go throw alot of trouble adjusting to this new procedure but they have to get used to it.The ending is really funny and surprising.I think that the two girls really have to learn how to get out of trouble.

      5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENNT !.......1999-10-06

I totally thought that this was a great book! The thing that makes me keep buying them besides them being my favorite books is that she makes you want to know what will happen in the next book. Like Caitlin and David? Jesse and Melanie? and especialy Miguel and Leah?? There is no doubt that this is and excellent book and will deserve 5 stars from everyone!

      5 out of 5 stars ZGood.......1999-10-04

This book was very good. Jesse is so typical! I mean it, too. I understand him wanting to get revenge on Melanie for dumping him, but sheesh! Doesn't he realize everyone makes mistakes? And Melanie made one, so she's trying and trying to make everything up. She has a hard, muserable life, and it's not her fault for losing Jesse! Jesse shouldn't be so hard to get. And Jenna is so nosy! She shouldn't have told Peter--now Caitlin will be humiliated every tiome she sees Peter!

      5 out of 5 stars AWESOME BOOK!!!!!!!.......1999-09-27

This book is so awesome. It's not my favorite in the series but one of them. This series is absolutely wonderful and everyone should read them. These books have earned the spot where they sit in my "Tresured Books Bookcase"

5 out of 5 stars No Doubt: the Singles 1992-2003.......2004-05-21

This book is the piano/vocal/chords version of the CD "The Singles: 1992-2003" by No Doubt. Unlike most music books, much of the orignal bass lines preserved in this book, which was why I bought it. I simply transpose them up a few lines and I'm back in the range of my electric bass. I liked how they the original work of this band intact for the most part. Warner Brothers also has a history of making music books that fall apart as you look through them (this was my experience with "The Simpsons Songbook" and "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone Piano Solos") The book is written so that it has one lone treble clef, and a grand staff for the piano (i.e. both treble and bass clef). Guitar chords a presented above the vocal line (the lone treble clef) in fingerboard diagrams. The original work of the piano player and bassist was well preserved throughout this book, and not altered. The pieces range in tempo, key signatures, and time signatures. There is no tablature in this book. This book has the following songs in it: "Just a Girl" "It's My Life" (remake of the song by Talk Talk) "Hey Baby" "Bathwater" "Sunday Morning" "Hella Good" "New" "Underneath it All" "Excuse Me Mr." "Running" "Spiderwebs" "Simple Kind of Life" "Don't Speak" "Ex-Girlfriend" "Trapped in a Box" Recommended for the intermediate level player at the least. I highly recommend this songbook.

I love No Doubt so much and i wouldnt even care if this book wasn't good(though it was very good) cuz i love anything to do with ND. I think the author portrayed the story of their lives very well and in ok detial. As other reviews say, it could have had more detail but it's all good, i was just so happy to find another book about them!!!!!!!!! I do recommend this book to people who are true fans of No Doubt or people that want to be true fans of no doubt. I just wish there were more books and stuff about them cuz they are an amazing band!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars The Story of No Doubt.......2000-02-13

This book was great it explained a lot of things you didn't know about the greatest band on earth.....NO DOUBT! if you are a die hard fan like me you would know a lot of the facts, but you still will learn new things about this great band. I LOVE the pics. They are so colorful and big. There are some when they are performing live and some when they are just hanging out. It's very detailed and well put together. So if you are a no doubt fan this is a great book to add to your collection.

      1 out of 5 stars The Hobbit.......1999-11-27

I found this book tedious because the author went into page of detail on just about everything that happened
