Super Cute.......2007-04-12
This book is cute and the perfect bedtime story for my 2 year old. There are several "bedtime" plots among the Blue's Clues set and they all do a good job of easing into slumber land by coming to a peaceful place at the end of the story.
Blue's a Hit.......2007-03-02
I know Blue's biggest fan. His name is Jaylon and he's 19 months old. Blue can do no wrong and this book does not disaapoint. Steve and Blue take you through Blue's bedtime ritual. The steps are simple, the pictures are colorful, it's small enough to carry around and the book is sturdy enough to withstand eight teeth.
Blue goes to sleep...like all children do..........2007-02-12
A nice bedtime story for your child. She asks for Blue all the time.
Sleepy Time With Blue........2006-08-23
Good Night Blue is a great book to read prior to nap time or bed time. The book shows Blue going potty, brushing his teeth, and getting ready for bed. Children get a great story, and get to learn about all the things they need to do before going to bed.
The book is sturdy and well made, and is fun to read. My 2 daughters love this book.
Good NIght Blue.......2006-08-17
I am sure that every preschool child would like to have this book.
Book Description
In this deluxe storybook and play CD pack, toddlers and preschoolers have a chance to hum along with the tunes they all recognize from Nick Jr.'s wildly popular show, Dora the Explorer. Includes music player with handle and 4 music discs.
Dora's Mami says she can have her friends for a sleepover. It starts out with an adventure--Dora makes written invitations for everyone, but they get blown away by the wind. Can she find them and get her party ready before her guests arrive? A happy ending has Dora with plenty of friends, food, and fun at the sleepover. Four play CDs of popular Latino music plus top tunes from the "Dora the Explorer" TV show provide a musical backdrop for this original storybook. Selected Spanish lyrics are included, making this a songbook as well. A removable plastic music player comes with each pack.

Wonderful.......2007-05-19
My three year old loves books and music. This book is the best of both. Now she can play her music all by herself, while she "reads" the book!
LOVE IT!!!!! .......2006-07-21
I bought this for my soon to be 3 year old daughter... She loves playing with the music player.. All of her cousins fight over this book!! A big hit... Highly recommend..
She changes the discs and dances along... and we read the book together every night. It is easy for her to use the music player without any help.
Book Description
Meet Jess, Robin, Anne, Lilith and Beth
five thirty-somethings living in Chicago and trying to navigate work, men, life and love with humor, intelligence, and - most of all - friendship. Though each woman is very different, and clearly on her own path of discovery, the strength they find in each other makes their individual journeys a little easier.
We meet the ladies in flashback at a Valentine's Day slumber party, establishing the connections between them, and giving us a snapshot of where the women are in their lives. We then move to present day, two years later, and each of the five tells her own story as it happens. Part Sex and the City, part Little Women, with a dash of Slaves of New York (well, Slaves of Chicago, at the very least), Sleeping Over examines relationships both romantic and platonic, (and platonic wanting to be romantic), and looks at all the various configurations of what it means to "spend the night" with someone.
Jess has just returned from a two-year Peace Corps tour in Kenya, and is crashing at the condo of her cousin Mark's best friend, pediatrician Harrison. Dealing with a return to Western Civilization, her long-divorced parents dating each other again, and the feelings she is trying not to develop for the dashing doctor she is living with, may in fact make her crazy at any moment. Then again, if the doctor reciprocates, she just might be on the road to real joy.
Robin relishes her job as executive sous-chef in a trendy little restaurant almost as much as she relishes her friendship with its owner, Michael. But while Michael may think that their cuddly sleepovers are just friends being affectionate, Robin knows that she wants much more. But how do you make someone who knows you so well look at you with fresh eyes? And if he does, will it spell disaster at work?
Beth and her sister, Anne, have recently opened up a boutique together which is managing to keep afloat in spite of the economy. Beth isn't really concentrating on much besides the store, fixing up her loft, and playing with her dog Petey when unexpected reconnections with three men from her past throw everything into turmoil. Ex-boyfriend Sasha has decided they should be friends again, as has grad-school lover Eric
all while Beth is in the infancy of a romance with Jeff, a guy she detested in college who has suddenly become the opposite of detestable. It is either an embarrassment of riches, or a nightmare from the tenth circle of hell, and she will need loads of support from the girls to puzzle out her next move.
Anne loves Beth, and Beth loves their working partnership, but the store isn't Anne's dream, and while the sisters share almost everything, Anne's secret desire to go back to school to pursue a career in occupational therapy is keeping her up nights. Lucky for her, these nights are no longer spent alone, after a bizarre series of events brings Chris into her life - and for the first time, Anne knows what it means to be completely swept off her feet.
Lilith has finally returned to her work in theatre after nursing her father during his ultimately unsuccessful battle with cancer. But getting back in the game has her stuck in the worst kind of triangle. While she and boring boyfriend Martin are temporarily "seeing other people," she meets Noah, a deliciously enigmatic actor, for whom she falls head over heels. Problem one, Noah is married. Problem two, Noah isn't the least bit interested in Lilith, except as a friend. But Jay, on the other hand, is very interested. He is younger, brasher, nothing Lil ever expected to want or need
but nevertheless intriguing. Lil struggles with letting go of the idea of Noah to see if she should be more open-minded about Jay.
There are surprising twists for each of the women, separately and together, including one major disaster which threatens to change their friendship forever. But at the end of the day, five is always a happier number; and sometimes, whoever else you may be sleeping with, sleeping over with your girlfriends can be the best thing to do.
Customer Reviews:
Too much in one story.......2007-07-20
The book starts to get good in certain areas, but there are too many characters and points of view. I actually tried to write out a cheat sheet w/ characterstics of the 5 main women, but it was still too confusing. That in itself ruined the book for me :(
Modern day "Fairytale" - Yawn!.......2006-10-10
I am usually easy to please when it comes to chick lit, but this book is over the top. Give me a break! Every female character in this book gets their dream guy under picturesque circumstances by the end. The characters are flawed, but are never really developed, and instead of caring about them, they become needy and a tad annoying. This book that leads you to believe it is about 5 fabulous, independant women turns out to be the story of Sleeping Beauty x5 without conflict or climax and straight to the happily ever after...
For good Chick Lit, try Emily Giffin or Jennifer Weiner.
A frothy bit of Chicklit.......2006-04-09
In the fairy tales of old, the heroine was beautiful, demure and rescued by the handsome prince. In Sleeping Over, the heroines have flaws, and struggle with their careers and love lives. The men however, are just as unrealistic as the princes in fairy tales of old. They may enter the scene with flaws, but alas, they are diamonds in the rough, and we end up in the same happily-ever-after scenario that makes an old fashioned romance novel.
A realistic look at the search for love among young urbanites? No. An enjoyable book? Yes.
Sleeping Over, the Next Sex and the City.......2006-01-26
This is one of the best books I have every read. I am not yet finished with it but can't wait, I figure I will done by morning tomorrow (since I only get to read on the train to and from work, an hour and a half each way). I hope they make your book into a movie or TV show just like Sex and the City. I could use a good chick TV show again, SATC was my favorite and I would watch Jess, Robin, Beth, Lilith, and Anne any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Pick one point of view and stick with it.......2005-12-15
After breaking up with her boyfriend before he could dump her, and spending two years in Africa with the Peace Corp., Jess is returning to Chicago and into the fold of her four gal pals, Beth, Robin, Anne, and Lilith.
First stop is to find temporary lodging with Harrison, her cousin's best friend, who happens to have quite a reputation as a ladies man. They share a bed platonically until they both realize that they are into each other. And she also has to stand by and watch her divorced parents date each other again.
First and foremost, "Sleeping Over" is a relationship drama - between the women, their lovers, their families, and themselves. In essence, each character could have her own story, and because of that, none of the characters or couplings is completely fleshed out to the point where the reader really feels like they have gotten to know them, though Jess and Harrison are the most compelling.
There are too many characters, too many "voices," and there is just too much going on - it is just a mess. Each chapter is told from the point of view of one character. All this first person has the reader confused. At times, I had to back track to the start of the chapter to see if it started with Jess, Beth, Lilith, etc. I like first person stories, but 5 interchangeable points of view is taxing on even the most patient reader. Thank goodness I checked this one out of the library.
Book Description
As Arthur plans his first-ever sleepover party to be held outside in his tent, nothing, not even reports of a spaceship sighting, can dampen the young aardvarks enthusiasm. But when Arthur, Brain, and Buster see an eerie light, they wonder if the rumors of aliens are true.
Customer Reviews:
Another great Arthur adventure.......2007-04-14
Arthur is a great series of books for English Language Learners and younger children (K-3rd grade). They really enjoy the stories and each one has an important lesson to be learned. This one is no exception.
A Party of Junk Food.......2006-10-26
I read "Arthur's First Sleepover." In the story Arthur was having a sleepover in a tent. D.W. thought there was an alien. Arthur was trying to find a flashlight. Buster and Brian came in the door. In the tent they they had junk food. And I want to say it is funny.
This Book Is Way Cool.......2006-08-05
Taking the Arthur series a step farther and upping it to this format was a great idea. These books are terrific.
arthur's first sleepover: an arthur adventure.......2005-09-08
Great book!! my just turned 2 yr old daughter loves all the arthur & d.w. book series...got this one in board book format which is easier to keep from tearing. very easy to read and she sits through the whole story!!
It's funny and cute.......2004-01-13
My boys love the pictures ~~ and I enjoyed reading the story about Arthur's first sleepovers and his little sister's concern about aliens. After a trick goes bad, Arthur returns the favor to his little sister. And it's just cute.
It's a great book for beginners. If you're a mom of toddlers, this book is just cute to read ~~ it's not repetitive nor boring. It's a fun book.

Level 2 readers are for kids reading independently and Henry And Mudge And The Big Sleepover provides another Henry and Mudge story with fine short chapters, varied sentence structure, and adventure. Here Henry is invited to a sleepover party and nighttime adventures seem to assure nobody will get to sleep, especially when a father decides to participate. Book Description
Lily is finally getting used to living in Philadelphia with her mother and older brother, Case. She's made friends with two of the most popular girls in her first-grade class -- LaVon and Daisy -- and she's been invited to LaVon's birthday sleep-over party! But Lily has a teensy-weensy little problem...bed-wetting. Only occasionally, though -- she is not a baby! But if she goes to the party, her friends might find out and tell everyone at school. Just when everything seems to be going wrong, Lily discovers that she's not the only kid in her class with this embarrassing problem. With some helpful suggestions from her mom and Case, Lily finds a way to go to the sleep-over and keep her accidents to herself. In her third story starring the spirited Lily, Sally Warner tackles a sensitive subject with understanding, insight, and plenty of humor.
Customer Reviews:
Can Lily help bedwetters?.......2000-12-06
This book as a story is well written, contemporary and for the most part fun to read. My interest in the book was to see how it dealt with the topic of bedwetting. Overall I was disappointed. Lily is described as an occasional but frequent bedwetter. So, while this story might help children to feel more sympathetic towards peers who wet and enable them to empathize with children who share a similar experience, the conclusion does not offer hope to the many children who have never been dry at night and for who bedwetting can be characterized as a chronic problem. In fact Ms. Warner furthers some misconceptions and stereotypes about bedwetting by suggesting that Lily's troubles have a psychological basis (which statistically may be true in about 3% of children who wet) and that withholding fluids might be a viable treatment approach.
The conflict in the story identifies a crucial moment which almost all bedwetters face but the resolution (though not uncommon)does not offer the possibility of a long term solution.
I am happy to see any book which helps raise awareness of the common and often distressing problem of bedwetting. For readers looking for another Lily adventure this book might fill the bill. For readers looking for a book to help their child better understand his or her own wetting or offer some insight or help in resolving wetting, Accidental Lily is not much help.
Book Description
obody ever listens to Daisy. Her father was chopping carrots. Her mother was talking on the phone. Her big sister was chasing her little brother around and around the kitchen table. So it was no surprise that no one heard where Daisy went, even though she told them. With humorous text and striking, bold illustrations, this book captures the frustration of a middle child trying to be heard over the noise of a well-meaning family.
Customer Reviews:
Squashed in the Middle With You.......2005-10-18
Daisy is a middle sibling with a problem. It's not that her older sister and younger brother and her parents aren't interested in her; however, they talk about her and even for her, but they don't listen to her! With all that talk about her, most of it negative, Daisy begins to doubt her own feelings. One day her friend Rosa invites her to stay over night. Not only does Daisy's mother not entirely listen to Daisy, but her siblings chime in as well:
"'She won't go anywhere without her stuffed duck,' said her brother. 'She'll come home in the middle of the night,' said her sister in her big know-it-all voice. 'No, I won't,' said Daisy. But nobody heard her. Maybe they're right, Daisy thought."
When Daisy just decides to accept Rosa's invitation, her family is too busy to notice. When the family finally finds her at Rosa's, they react in the same over-protective and condescending way, until Daisy lets out a big shout: "I'M NOT GOING HOME!" When her mother asks her why she has to shout, Daisy explains," Because I tell you things, but nobody ever listens to me." Suddenly (and inexplicably), the parents understand Daisy's feelings (though her brother and sister are just the same) and let her stay overnight at Rosa's. They even listen to her (even the brother and sister) the next morning when she comes home.
So, what's the message, if any, here? I think it's a caution to family members about the importance of listening to everyone, and not letting siblings overstep their bounds. On this level, the book works. However, there's no real solution shown for Daisy. Her shout slows the family's incessant talking long enough for her mother to ask her a direct question, and for Daisy to finally give a direct answer. The shout expresses the pent-up anger, and works in the short run, but the book doesn't really offer a long-term solution. It's almost as if it were Daisy's fault for not shouting sooner to get her family to finally listen to her. While not a major flaw, the book would have been more edifying had it presented more complex answers to a complex problem. Pat Cummings' bright illustrations (gouache, pastel, watercolor, and colored pencil) are bright and simple, and give a kind of in-your-face feeling that mirrors Daisy's home.
Nice story but falls a little short.......2005-05-07
It is nice to see a "real life" problem for younger children discussed in picture book format.
Even though there is no real "story" going on in this book - Daisy is a middle child whose family doesn't listen to her; she decides to spend the night at her friend Rosa's house; her family thinks she has gone missing and when they finally find Daisy and resolve to take her home Daisy finds her voice and her family starts to pay attention - young children will identify with Daisy's frustrations and find pleasure in the end result.
The author has taken care to show that despite Daisy's family's dismissal of her voice, they do care for her and are looking out for her best interests. Winthrop has also been careful to resolve the issue without making too much of a "storybook" ending out of it.
A nice read, but not a book with elaborate illustrations or story telling that will make them say, "Wow!". A good choice for libraries.

At the back of the book there was a tear-out doorknob hanger and there were shopping lists for each theme. The lists are just the right size to put in your purse. So if you love sleepovers, get this book!
