i've had this book for many years and finally decided to write a review about it. the book is tailored towards black people so that makes it unique. i really love this book and everytime i encounter a new guy i flip to the book, i almost have it memorized on certain parts. the author is on point. i read what she said about my sign and realized that yes, she knows what she's talking about. there are tons of good examples throughout the book and solid information about each sign. it's not filled with a lot of heavy jargon, it's actually funny without being silly and useless. you can get a quick fix or read more in-depth, it's all there. this is a wonderful book to share with friends that get a kick out of astrology and are dating, engaged or married. i would love to see the author update the book, i'd be among the first to buy the revised edition!

From reading my sign and analyzing others from other signs, this books almost hits it on the spot! The author (I don't know how) really did her homework. I recommend this book to people who have a high interest on Zodiac signs in relation to love. Now don't get me wrong, not every characteristic is going to be about you.

She outdid herself with this one. I'm an astrology buff, so I know that Venus represents your love signs as well. And I not only read the interactions between sun signs, which represents your personalities, but where Venus was too.
My partner at the time had his Venus in Gemini, and mine is in Aries. I would read the book and die laughing, because she describes a Gemini-Aries relationship to a hilt! It was just like our conversations were coming straight from this book. It was too funny.

It is amazing just how accurate this book really is. You even have to admit the faults that are explained about your own self in this book are true. If what you read about yourself is 100% accurate, then you can't help but to believe what is written about the other signs. This book should be used as a guide for any relationship!

It's not saying you are into hocus pocus. It's saying I am as an adult trying to understand other mature adults around me.
I recommend this book and I have bought it several times as a gift for friends and lovers. I can't really stress how dope this book is. I shudder to say, it can even help you in giving you insight to your current or future relationships.

Next to the Bible, I think this is one of the most important books people need to own. I definitely use it as a point of reference and I'm not even heavy into astrology. But I was called out so accurately, I had no choice but to believe. It's almost alarming how you can be described so well by something that has no pulse. I'm not saying that it'll be the same experience for everyone, but it's definitely not a waste of money--especially if you're single! *wink*

I've had this book for years, and I'm sorry that it took me so long to review.
But this book breaks things down for the sistahs and the brothas. I am glad that she took it upon herself to write a book such as this, because it was needed. I keep this book beside Linda Goodman's books. I am sorry, Goodman is a force to be reckoned with!
I think Balfour does an excellent job when describing the signs. She hit the Pisces woman to a Tee for me...I don't want a man who won't work...oh no...I don't play that disability mess either...How are we gonna survive on that? LOL

I call this the Book of Forgiveness and now teach a workshop dedicated to teaching its principles. As a therapist, bla, de, bla de bla, I came up short in understanding relationships, particularly my own. Charles Harvey, a leading astrological scholar of the later 20th century, died a couple of years ago aged not far from 60, but left behind this modern masterpiece of properly researched basic natal astrology, which originates in the study of real people and draws as much detail out of each of the 144 Sun/Moon combinations as could be hoped for. The interpretations are each substantial in length but concise and packed with observational detail, building very significantly on Grant Lewi's pioneering treatment of the combinations from the 1940s. They inevitably round people up and sometimes typecast the extreme manifestations of each combination a little over-assuredly. They are of course subject to the modifying influence of non-Sun/Moon sign factors in the birth chart, but they come as close as they can given their scope. Indispensable reference book.

I bought this book four years ago. It is now being held together by a rubberband. Everytime I discover someones Moon I'm astonished, the only person's moon I hve trouble figuring is my own. Every few months I have to read it to see if I really understand it, but with almost everyone else I got them pegged. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

I bought this book after reading all of the five-star hoopla that was already posted on it. Granted, considering that the authors are using only the sun and the moon, the descriptions are pretty good. But, with only the sun and the moon, the accuracy is going to be limited. This book is a good "party" book and has the potential to get others interested in learning about astrology utilizing a superficial approach. However, if one is truly interested in learning more about astrology, this is not the book to buy. These authors are obviously gifted astrologers--as well as writers. I see they recently put out a short "beginners" book (click on authors' names on the left side of the screen). I hope they are planning to write beyond that. They've got great potential.

I was at a party, when a friend cracked open this book. One by one, we each calculated our moon signs (which none of us had even heard of before). chart was super easy to read. And we were all almost in tears, over how acurate the descriptions were. Each description is only 2-3 pages, but soooo right on.
I'm suspicious of astrology, so i read some other descriptions and they were not me at all. So, i feel pretty confident that it is not just worded so everyone can relate.

Catty, funny, accurate astrology.......2004-11-29
I was sitting in a Bondi Beach cafe a few years ago, having breakfast, when an acquaintance decided she would read out my 'stars' from the Weekend Australian newspaper. I remember being horrified: the line I recall was something like "I am Aries, hear me bleat" and was a complete dissection of the Ram ego.
The writer was Mystic Medusa, and I've been a fan ever since as are lots of filmmaker/artist/writer/academic-types. Now we have this book which is actaully a compendium of Mystic's first two cult books. Anyone who likes arch, bitchy, funny and seeringly accurate Sun sign writing is going to love this book. Especially if - like me - you're an urban Bo-Bo.
The book is divided into two parts: Sun signs at the front; soulmating (via your Venus & Mars aspects) at the back. An instant classic; wonderful to read out to one another.
My favourite line: "Quote them to them, even if they didn't actually utter the genius."
Mystic Medusa "Keeping It Real".......2004-11-28
I always say that Mystic Medusa "tells it like it is". Even my Virgo flatmate who "isn't into" astrology starts listening when i quote Mystic. He's seen how uncannily accurate Mystic's work can be.
The Sun Signs book is a warts and all look at each sign, and what makes them tic...and not tic and where they like to live and what they like to do and who they fall in love with.
In short, everything the beginner or even the more advanced astrology buff with a good sense of humour could want to know.
The Soul Mating guide is great fun and once again, right on the money. It gives a down to earth insight into the challenges and strengths of each relationship, based on date of birth. It's fascinating stuff and I've found myself looking up not only my own relationship but also that of my parents and friends.
A MUST HAVE BOOK!!

Mystic Medusa makes astrology fun and accessible, but takes it seriously all at once. Her reviews of the 12 sun signs are frighteningly accurate, yet written in such a delightfully droll, contempary way you can't be offended by even the worst aspects of your sign. It's always fun getting a friend to read up on their sign, and watch them gasp and say "OMG that's ME!"
Her work on soul mating is intriguing, and even more scarily accurate than her sun signs. The best thing is that you don't need to have "someone special" in your life to get insight and amusement out of Mystic's soulmating; I found reading about myself and my friends to be endlessly entertaining all on its own.
This book is serious astrology, but at last we find an author who knows that taking their subject seriously and having a sense of humour aren't mutually exclusive. This is astrology for the 21st century. Can't wait to see more from Mystic Medusa.

The Llewellyn Sun Sign Book is an astrological guide. The book is broken down into sign by sign, month by month, and goes over some influences that may affect what you are doing for that time period.
There is a general overview of the sign, what the major influences may hold for you, and then it is broken down into each month.
I went over my own sign, and it appears that I may have an interesting year ahead, and I will go though the book and see what might be expected.
There are a few articles of interest in the back of the book, on fashion, world predictions, careers and cycles. It made for some interesting reading and food for thought.
So, get your copy and see what next year may hold for you. And give some contemplation to the influences and cycles on your life and how you can maximize them to your advantage. boudica

I believe in astrology. I have enjoyed books by authors such as Grant Lewi, Marion D. March, Joan McEvers, Robert Pelletier, and others. But Robin McNaughton is way off the mark. She claims that Libra women are hopelessly dependent on men and can be mistreated and still stay with a man. WRONG! My sister and I are both Libras, neither of us has ever been in a relationship just to be in a relationship, in fact I don't even believe in finding another half or someone to complete me. I found this description of Libra women a huge insult. And I would rather be alone than with a mean person, or even someone who just didn't thrill me.
One of the better compatibility books for Sun signs.......2004-09-05
Laid out well, so you don't have to do a lot of flipping to compare your Sun sign with that of someone else. However, the author didn't waste any space being original with the comparisons. The text, for example, for a male Taurus with a female Capricorn is simply reversed with the pronouns when you look at the compatibility between a female Cappy and a male Taurus.
Although I beleive the study of Sun signs simply scracthes the surface of a serious study of astrology, this is one of the better Sun sign books.
Fun and very informative for just a Sun Sign book.......2004-08-09
Basicly, this book is for entertainment purposes more than anything. It breifly discusses what cusps are and what the planets and zodiac houses mean, but there is no mention of rising signs and even though birth charts are mentioned, there are no charts or information about caculating your birth chart. In other words, this is one of those strictly sun sign books.
But with that being said, it's quite a good one at that. It doesn't just give you a small summarization of your sign, you get analysis of the favorable and unfavorable qualities of both a man AND a woman of a particular sign. Most books simply group everyone under their sun sign and ask us to assume that it applies to everyone. Each sign is even split up into 3 decans where you can get an even more specific summary of your charactoristics( Decans refer to different ruling planets that influence a sun sign personality depending on exactly what part of the month they were born. i.e: For Capricorn, The Saturn decan refers to people born between 12/22-1/1, The Venus decan for those born between 1/2 and 1/11, and the Mercury decan for those born between 1/12 and 1/20 ).
This was my first astrology book and even now, I come back to this one. I'm still quite taken aback at the accuracy of the text, even knowing that this book was copywritten originally in 1979 and has no mention of the rising sign. It's so fun to read about other things for each sign, such as love, marriage, health, friends, and even home( where it gives you decorating pointers on which type of decorating scheme would best suit your sign ).
And yes,there's also the compatibilty guide, which I find to be right on the money in a most uncanny way. Again, the author stresses the differences bewtween a man and a woman and offers comatibilty for not just Gemini and Taurus, but A Taurus man with a Gemini woman, or a Taurus woman with a Gemini man. The book also offers all the other interesting little facts and details that you enjoy in an astrology book such as famous people born under the sign, the sign's element, flower, gemstone, day, archangel, magical number, mode, qualities, primal desire, and planteary priciple.
It's not comprehensive for the serious astrologer, but for novices looking for a little fun, yet accurate insight about themselves and their partner, this book will be a great investment for next to nothing in price. To get more out of it, I suggest finding out your rising sign by getting your birth chart calculated for free on www.astro.com so that you can also read the info on whatever your rising sign is too, since your sun sign is supposed to reflect who you are inside, while your rising sign describes the type of person you convey and how you are perceived by others.
