Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

The many shades of white, beautifully complemented by the velvety verdure of evergreens and ivy, are a perfect choice for holiday trimmings--the decorations, the accents and accessories, the table settings. Glowing with candlelight and sparkling with sun-kissed snow, these pages are filled with glorious arrays of white and green. Noted designer Tricia Foley has a way with white: dozens of elegant little ornaments, a creamware-bedecked table, a frosty tree encrusted with crystal and silver decorations, an all-white gingerbread house, even a boxwood-swagged gauzy bed canopy. "Like a Currier and Ives print or a snow-capped New England steeple," Foley reminds us, "the image of the perfect white Christmas is firmly etched in our minds." Her visual feast shows how truly stunning holiday decor can be when planned in a symphony of whites. --Amy Handy
Book Description
Everyone knows that the best Christmas is a white Christmas-a traditional celebration with snow capping the eaves, a fire roaring in the fireplace, and a mistletoe ball hanging in the doorway. Tricia Foley, best-selling author of Having Tea, Linens and Lace, and The Natural Home, brings back the magic of the time-honored customs, along with her own white-on-white decorating style, to create the kind of Christmas that will make treasured memories for years to come.
With ideas for every room of the house, Foley shows how to borrow from the colors of nature in winter 'pure white and evergreen' to dress up the house for the holidays. She includes simple yet timeless suggestions for draping greens over the bed canopy, hanging all-white stockings of every size and fabric, lighting with votive candles, candelabra, and sconces, and wrapping with handmade papers and raffia ribbons. For entertaining, White Christmas presents the perfect Christmas tea, with snowy linens and homemade scones. Helpful tip boxes cover Christmas lore, favorite tales, and Christmas crafts, and a resource section provides useful lists of addresses, related books, and holiday songs.
For anyone who wants to make the most of the holidays, Tricia Foley's White Christmas is the ideal holiday decorating and entertaining companion.

Another Golden Gooseberry.......2002-10-05
For those of you who are familiar with the Gooseberry Patch Co. series, you will not be disappointed with this great cookbook. For those of you who are not familiar with it, what are you waiting for? This series (as well as Holidays at Home specifically) has recipes that are so easy to use, it doesn't matter if you're Julia Child or a 20's male bachelor (heh heh), it's easy to make everything in here. And it's delicious!
While I feel this particular volume doesn't separate itself from the rest of the series, that is not at all a bad thing. It still has the recipes, memories, and ideas that they all have, and you're bound to enjoy it! Plus I'll plug the Old Fashioned Country Cookies title from this series. It's simply amazing.
Happy cooking!
Book Description
From the incomparable master of romance Nora Roberts comes two tales of holiday love, available for the first time in over a decade.
Home for Christmas
After years of world travel, prizewinning reporter Jason Law returned home to New Hampshire. He had carried the memories of Faith Kirkpatrick, the girl he left behind, for ten years -- now he was determined to win back her love. But she was a woman with responsibilities, and he was nothing but a wandering nomad. All they could have was this one Christmas together. Could Faith summon the courage to give Jason a once-in-a-lifetime holiday gift?
All I Want for Christmas
Identical twin boys Zeke and Zach wanted only one gift from Santa: a new mom! And when they first meet their music teacher at school, they could hardly believe their luck -- Miss Davis was a mom made-to-order. But convincing their dad was a lot harder than they thought. Mac Taylor wasn't willing to risk his heart, but when Nell brought love and laughter into all their lives, his heart began to thaw like a spring snow. Will the boys get their Christmas present after all?
Customer Reviews:
The Gift.......2006-12-29
You know how you go into a thrift shop and see a decent-looking book with a shiny cover, by an author who is apparantly best-selling and famous... you are likely to buy it for 50 cents, just to see what all the fuss is about.
I read this for the holidays, since it is about this time of year and I wouldn't feel right reading about Christmas any other time of the year. But I wish I would have never picked this up at the thrift shop. Both the stories were surprisingly similar. Two people see each other, feel desire, then something happens that makes one of them mad, and then they make up and they get engaged.
It's all so sappy and romantic and it's been done many times before. But this book was the reason that I picked up a good mystery, instead of suffering through another romance.
Magical holiday stories.......2005-07-04
It seemed odd reading Christmas stories so far out of season, but this book tempered the July heat as it warmed my heart! If you are looking for long involved stories with a lot of drama and action, then this isn't the book for you. At under 100 pages each, the two wonderful stories in this collection are sweetly romantic; the type of feel-good, magical short stories similiar to those featured in the December issue of woman's magazines such as Good Housekeeping or Redbook. The solid and likable characters are very realisically presented and the dialogue between them flows naturally. The children have prominent roles and are charming in a precocious and mischievious sort of way. The attention to detail, especially in describing the both the wintery New England and the autumnal rural Maryland settings, pulls the reader into these small communities. It's amazing how Nora Roberts can make such an impact on such few pages!!
Nora, what's happened???.......2005-03-23
I only read the first story in this book. I was so dissapointed that I took it back to the library. Faith is nothing but a selfish woman who uses time old excuses. She kept her daughter from Jason for the stupidest reasons that you will only find in a romance novel. Jason shouldn't have left in the first place, but he did, and all Faith had to do was tell him as soon as she could. That would be the RIGHT thing to do. Jason wasn't any better though. He shouldn't have been so angry that Faith had gotten married. He left all of a sudden and didn't call or write till six months later. I always like the characters and writing of Nora, however this was such a short story that it left a lot to be desired. Nora should have not made her characters so cliched. Hopefully Midnight Bayou will be better, I got that from the library also today also. If not, then I'm giving up Nora for good.
Good Holiday Book.......2005-01-20
"The Gift" is a novel made up of two stories. The first, "Home for Christmas" is about a man, Jason, going back home to the small town he left years ago. He goes back to found Faith, his high school sweetheart he left behind to make a life for himself. He wants to take her away with him, but he discovers she has established a life for herself and her daughter in her town. So he tries to fit into her new life, but she has some trouble accepting him back in her life. The second story is titled ""All I want For Christmas". It's about two twin boys who want nothing for Christmas except a new mom, a love for their dad. So, Santa sends them their wish, in the form of a new teacher. The only problem is, their dad doesn't seem to notice Miss Davis, and they think their Christmas wish won't come true.
I chose this book because the holiday season was beginning and I was in the mood for nothing but Christmas romance novels. I was very happy with my decision. This is the perfect book to read if you just want to enjoy a fun story and a happy ending. The stories are well written and make you feel for the characters as if they were your friends. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it for anyone who wants a smile on their face.
Short and Sweet.......2005-01-06
While I am a huge fan of NR, these 2 books lack the strength of her latest books. These 2 stories were short...so short in fact, one can read them in a 2-hour sitting!

With its remarkable illustrations and its affectionate portrait of a migrant family, Eve Bunting's latest book is a jewel. Carlos, his parents, and his sisters visit the family village in Mexico. Mama and Papa are very excited, but the kids don't know what all the fuss is about. If they really love Mexico, what could be the point of leaving for America just for "opportunities"?
As they watch their parents with the family, and sneak a peek at the two of them dancing in the moonlight to a song only they can hear, Carlos understands. "They love it here because it's home. They have left home for us." With clarity, warmth, and very few words, Bunting has explained those ever-new American dreamers to yet another generation.
Book Description
Christmas is coming and Carlos and his family are going home-driving south across the border to Mexico. But Mexico doesn't seem like home to Carlos, even though he and his sisters were born there. Can home be a place you don't really remember?
At first, La Perla doesn't seem very different from the other villages they pass through. But then Carlos is swept into the festivities by Grandfather, Aunt Ana, and the whole village. Finally, Carlos begins to understand Mama and Papa's love for the place they left behind, and realizes that home can be anywhere, because it stays in the hearts of the people who love you.
Eve Bunting and David Diaz-the Caldecott Medal-winning team behind Smoky Night- collaborated once again to create a dazzling picture book that glows with holiday joy and the spirit of Mexico.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful book for children and adults.......2006-11-28
Eve Bunting's books have a wisdom that transcends their simple stories. As an ESL teacher and a teacher in classes with immigrant students, I have often shared this book with middle school students and adults. In a brief and poetic narrative, it tells the universal story of parents sacrificing so their children will have a better life, through the eyes of a child. The adults in my ESL classes love it and take it home to read to their children.
Eve Bunting and David Diaz do it again!.......2001-07-07
Eve Bunting takes her readers on journey with a Mexican family going home for Christmas. The text she uses is elegantly written. Through the feelings expressed by Carlos and his family you get a real sense of the Mexican culture and the importance of family. David Diaz's illustrations lead you into the journey with Carlos and his family. With the use of collaged background and inset illustrations the pages come alive. The text of Bunting and the illustrations of Diaz give you the sense of being there. This is a book that a child of any age would enjoy.
Excellent book!.......2000-06-22
This book is very touching...it sensitively portrays the sacrafices Mexican immigrants have to make to move to America for their children to have a better life. Very well done themes of parental love, long car trips, the sadness of leaving one's home country, sibling realtionships, husband and wife being romantic (tasteful and age-appropriate), and a child's growing understanding of the complexities of life. Buy and read it to every child (and adult) you know.
Good story/GREAT illustrations.......1999-02-26
This story is well told, with a nice pace and sense of language. Diaz is up to his usual standards, creating a colorful world that you just want to hop right into. Judge this book by its cover - it's beautiful!
beutiful story and Illustration.......1997-08-24

Customer Reviews:
Cute. A little tiny 'tho.......2007-08-05
I purchased the autumn book and really enjoyed it, so I ordered Christmas Joy. I was tad disappointed to see this was such a small and slender volume. It has the same cute recipes and suggestions but fewer of them. It is also fairly short- only 46 pages. I read it in about 15 minutes.
Overalll, a cute book, but I was expecting more.
