Book Description
He's walked out and she still wants him back. Thousands of discouraged and hurting women ask, "Is there anything I can do to win my husband back?" Though there are plenty of books on divorce, few talk about what it takes to initiate a reconciliation. Gary Smalley and Dr. Greg Smalley offer women a biblically based strategy for winning back their mate.
Included is an appendix of additional resources on organizations, counseling centers, video series, and books that have proven particularly helpful in this situation. Full of practical advice and realistic encouragement,
Winning Your Husband Back can help heal a marriage. And whether the marriage is healed or not, the ideas will also help readers become responsible for their own choices and draw nearer to God.

Very helpful.......2007-05-29
I found this book to be very helpful and encouraging to me. I am currently separated from my husband and I am desperately trying to put the pieces back together again. This book is specific on areas a wife can do to change her behavior towards her husband. Although it takes two to make a marriage/seperation, I have found that what I say and how I say it really helps in bringing us closer. Gary Smalley has always been so great at the marital relationship and this was no exception.
Should do more reading before making a judgment.......2006-10-12
The next three reviewers paint quite an unfair picture of this book as well as the author. One reviewer ends her comments by asking if the author has written a book to men challenging them to treat their wives right. She said, "didn't think so." Well that is plain wrong. He did write a book to men which was much more challenging to men than his advice to women. It's called "If Only He Knew: What No Woman Can Resist" and you can find it here on amazon. In that book (which the reviewer has obviously not read) he tells the husbands that they are the ones ultimately responsible for trouble in their marriages. He says "if after 5 years of marriage there are still unresolved issues that he hasn't address, then it falls squarely on the HUSBAND's shoulders." How is that for responsibility? There was no blame on the wife... If you read both (all) of the author's books you will see he teaches a very consistent view of marriage and the husband/wife roles. However, if you only read one book with your own agenda, you will not present a fair evaluation of this book or any book for that matter. Ladies, this book will help you in your marriage. While you are at it, pick up the other book for your husband. :)
God must have told hubbies to leave-wives-thank Him for it.......2006-03-27
If women have to look to God to figure out why their husbands walk out, does that mean husbands bail out on God's advice? Do they need to talk to God too? Has this writer written a book for men who have selfishly left wives and children behind with similar instructions on what to do to be better men in order to be received back into the graces of their families? I didn't think so...
PUTRID.......2004-12-24
This book is terrible. I wish people (women in general) would ditch the atiquated, sexist and misogynistic teachings of the bible (and most religions) as they do more harm than good. A friend was given this book after her marriage failed (he ran off with an uneducated 18 yr old) and she called me crying because she thought that maybe if she was a stupid, submissive sex toy with no will of her own, her marriage would still be intact. Surely not! I read the book and was appalled. Then I thought, why am I surprised? This is written by an old fart with archaeic values that no longer hold true. Relax, ladies. Most of these types of people will be dead in 20 or 30 years and the world will be a better place. Live your life well, make smart decisions, stay away from anything that causes harm and be good to others. Everthing will be allright, I promise you.
Side note: My friend remarried a wonderful man who isn't threatend by a smart, independent free thinking woman. He doesn't want her to be anything but who she is. Yes, those men do exist (and they're not ninnies).
Bible-beating hogwash!!.......2004-07-30
There isn't anything in this world that would entice me to be anything but equal to my husband. This book not only encourages women to become submissive to their husbands, but it essentially tells them that they would have to in order to save their marriages. It tells women that they, and only they, are responsible for the condition, and ultimately the repair, of their marriages, and that their husbands are essentially blameless. It also tells women that they shouldn't expect be very high on their husband's list of priorities because God doesn't want it that way. According to this book, the only way to save your marriage is to change absolutely everything about yourself in order to become what the Bible (a book written by men!) says you should be. Hogwash! I resented just about every piece of advice in this book, and I don't know how to follow this advice without losing all my self-respect and dignity in the process. I love my husband very much, but he could never respect the person this book wants me to be, and neither could I.

Book Description
Military families sometimes have to spend a lot of time apart from each other while serving their country, with one or more of the parents deployed. The separation can be just a few days in length or many months. This children's book helps the family explain to the child how things will work while the parent is away and how to communicate over the distance until the day the family reunites. The writing style and art of the book enables each child, boy or girl, to relate to the story in a personal sense. This book was computer designed with a cut out page at the end allowing the child to write a letter and draw a picture for the deployed parent.

Poor quality book, also oriented toward Navy........2006-07-20
This is the first book I have EVER returned. I had hoped, despite the cover, that this book would be applicable to children with parents in any branch of the military. It is NOT. It's very strictly Navy oriented, with dad getting on a ship and working on a ship. Also, the book is very poor quality for the price and the pictures are poorly done computer graphics. Skip this and go for another book on the subject!
Book Description
They say true freedom arrives when all the kids are gone and the dog dies. With his family grown and his husband Zack having decided to become a middle-aged cliche and marry his secretary, Chris Thayer is about to discover that starting life over at 48 is just as complicated, frustrating and thrilling as the first time around. After relocating to the North Carolina beach community of Emerald Isle, Chris finds a new appreciation of his role as the heart of the home to his grown children and becomes involved in the patchwork lives of his neighbors. To his unending surprise, he also finds himself the object of a new man's affections, a rowdy jack-of-all-trades with an unnervingly direct stare. In the same quiet, understated manner that he demonstrated in his critically acclaimed first novel, Metes and Bounds, Jay Quinn gives the traditional Southern novel a decidedly untraditional twist.
Jay Quinn is the founding editor and executive editor of Haworth Press's Southern Tier Editions. He is the author of Metes and Bounds and The Mentor and has edited Rebel Yell: Stories by Contemporary Southern Gay Authors. He lives in south Florida.

The Possibility of Happiness.......2007-02-01
In seeing the possibility of gay marriage or civil partnerships becoming a reality, Jay Quinn has written a novel imagining a common scenario which breaks down many traditional heterosexual marriages. Chris Thayer has been performing the typical maternal duties of a housewife with a man and his three children for twenty two years. Now that the children have grown and departed, the "husband" leaves Chris for a younger woman. It is a novel whose central character is a gay man, but it is atypical in that he is not at odds with his family. Instead, his family is his life. Chris is also a devote Catholic who is able to situate himself comfortably within his church and community while still being completely open about his sexuality. Over the course of the novel, he embarks on a journey to discover his own self-worth both within and without his family. Refreshing, uplifting and surprisingly sexually explicit without being pornographic, BACK WHERE HE STARTED is a thoroughly engaging read. Jay Quinn is one of those rare writers who can express real optimism in a novel, offering happiness to his characters while making you feel that it is truly deserved.
Great read!.......2007-01-05
The journey the author takes the reader on was very easy to visualize, feel and imagine. I couldn't put the book down. I took the book on a weekend getaway and thoroughly enjoyed his way with words.
Life's a Beach.......2006-12-26
Back Where He Started is an admirable book about desertion and mid-life crisis. Having moved out of a long term relationship into the dating scene myself in my mid 40s, I can testify that it is scary and difficult. Quinn captured this feeling of dispossession and uncertainty very well. The fact that faith was an anchor during a turbulent storm was totally acceptable and credible to me.
However, this book suffers a bit from its good intentions. Like too many gay novels, Chris (the hero) leads an almost charmed life. Almost immediately after leaving his home in Raleigh and moving to the NC coast, he meets a perfect man after making a snap decision to turn into a vet's office. He moves from the vet to the tender-hearted, sincere and very sexy redneck vet assistant. Come on! I wish life was that perfect and easy. What happened to all the less-than-perfect men that one meets on the road to recovery?
So, in retrospect, Mr. Quinn has written a novel about a difficult time in life. The novel is well written and a fun read. It includes some great sex without being at all pornographic. But it is still, at heart, flawed by its lack of realism.
Good, but unsatisfying read.......2006-10-10
Jay Quinn is a talented writer and "Back Where He Started" began with so much promise. I wanted to identify and root for Chris - the middle-aged, gay character who is suddenly single after an almost 25-year relationship, but half-way through the book, Chris began to grate on my nerves. While the author creates and fleshes out some interesting characters and gives great attention to dialogue, the novel misses the boat in terms of conflict. Chris is too good and too loved by all - and he hardly struggles internally with being deserted by his partner, and having to start all over again; He manages to get back up on his feet a little too easily.
The religious aspect of the book didn't bother me so much - it was refreshing to read about a gay character with a strong Catholic faith - I just found it far-fetched that Chris was accepted so easily by the priest he meets and the church he joins. (not to mention that the priest was able to find Chris a job so quickly).
I admire Quinn's writing and I still would like to read his other works, but this particular novel is probably geared to those that like their stories conflict-free and happily tied up like a Lifetime Television Movie for Women.
Disappointing.......2006-08-26
I admit I was only able to get to about page 100 before giving up on this well meaning but--for me at least--boring book. I like the fact that the protagonist is over 40 and the story is not set in a big city, but I didn't particularly like or care much about any of the characters in the book--which is problematic in a book where the characters (to paraphrase Jon Lovitz as Harvery Fierstein) just want to be loved.
I agree with a lot of the negative criticism in other reviews: the main character just seemed too feminine, the dialogue was unrealistic and a lot of the catholic stuff was just off putting.
The plot also was way too obvious in many places; for example, when Chris is so worried what the priest will say to him, how can there be any doubt the priest will surprise him and be great?
The main reason this all bothers me, and why I'm writing this review, is that I think the author has some talent. All that potential is just wasted in this silly, dull book.

Great book.......2003-03-25
I thought this was a great book. Gail offers plenty of evidence, some of which I was also able to find on my own at smokinggun.com. Before reading this book I believed Elvis died in 1977 ,since reading the book and doing some of my own research, I do not believe Elvis died in 1977. I did find one thing that Gail overlooked, how ever it still all falls in to place. But where ever Elvis may be if he is still with us at age 68, I would never want to out him. I find comfort in knowing that Elvis could still be alive, possibly enjoying his grandchildren. The proof is there if you look in the right places.
Good book.......2002-03-04
I think this book is one of the best writen about Elvis Presley...Let's get to this book. It offers (along with her two other Presley books) solid evidence that he may have lived past 8-16-77. More importently it shows that whether dead or alive, Elvis was a good man and a patriot. It also dispelles the drug rumers with ease. I think this author gets closer to who Elvis really is than most people. Don't let the other inferior books about Elvis being alive make you discount Gail's writing
People who use Elvis to profit.......2001-12-30
My mother was the Elvis fan, so that is where I got my knowledge of him and his music. I remember years ago, when Gail wrote a book saying Elvis called her many nights and told her things he didn't want anyothers to know. I have always been puzzled as to why she was so adament about finding him. I didn't know that a large corporation had put out a bounty for any reliable leads to Elvis being alive. She made money on this one time. Why is she to know things the government should only know or why does the government if sharing with her facts or rhymes, why not publish this. If I really cared about someone, and knew they were alive and had to be in hiding to protect my life and family, why would you try to beat him out of the woods, but it does say What profits a man to gain the whole world and use his own soul?
This book really made me want to cry. She writes it in a mystery form, but the numerology and New Age movements is like she is trying to convince us or (her) to believe this, and comparing him to Jesus, is not good in my book.
She wrote a book called Orion, a book that was about someone like Elvis and this Orion fakes his death, and it was taken off shelves before it hit, she thought, that Elvis was behind taking all books off and doing something with them. Why is she so interested in opening up government documents and making his life open to the public like she wants him to come back and perform again like a caged animal on display.
Is it better to want to think he is alive, or dead, which feels better? At times, some of it can be interesting in a sort of a way, then boring, then pushy. Decide for yourself I guess is the best way to know.
Do you want him to come back? Did he not give us all of himself when he was performing several times a day, 7 days a week, for months, with a week vacation in between. Can you imagine trying to be the image we tried to make him. The man was human, he went thru everything all the rest of us has, he had a cross to bear as we all do. I guess that is why he was so moving on his songs, he went thru happy times, sad, hurting, then meeting someone and falling in love, breaking up, losing someone you love to death, that made him know and us to feel the energy he has in his songs. I am sorry to think that friends desert and use you, but don't they to each of us? I am sorry to think people would rather invade in your private life, than to let you go on living the life you are familiar with now. I hope no one wants to capture you like an animal. look into your hearts.
Lets go over the facts, and see what we come out with.......2001-12-29
Many years ago, Gail Brewer Giorgio came out with a book called Orion, but for some odd reason it was taken off the shelf, due to the fact it sounded too much like the life of a performer Elvis Presley even tho it was not about him, but the books just seem to disappear. She never believed he was dead, in her second book about him, she said he would call her and tell her things, there were clues that she was bothered by the name having an Aaron not Aron, not being buried by his mother, clues he left, seeing him at Graceland when he was presumed dead, which in the Truth that Elvis himself states, he did leave clues for us to find out. In this book it is a mystery but why is she so attached to finding out the truth if he called her, I am sure she could have made arrangements to meet him, or know more.
< when he didn"t want to be found at the time
< actually she put his life in danger> she new alot about the numerology he studied
< along with other books
< what I can't understand is how she gets government records, when we can't get them. The book is a mystery, born out of the truth about Elvis, it is interesting, but she does try and force some of her opinions on you, that is one reason I gave this 3 stars. A mystery, that is unfolding to be the truth? she knew this years ago. I guess she believed it so strongly that after the TRUTH ABOUT ELVIS ARON PRESELY, in his own words came out, she figured it was time to write another one of her books.
she has been on the trail of someone who was hoping to stay alive by hiding, for his very own life was put in danger and also his families, but some people were out to find him for a bounty and used him to profit. The book is ok. at times boring, and at times far fetched, putting Elvis in the same respect as Jesus, HE was the first to say, to a group of girls who stood up in one of his concerts with a sign that said, Elvis is King, he stopped the show and said, and I quote, "There is only one King, and that is Jesus Christ". read and see what you think. Elvis always did say alot of people made alot of money off of him. From selling stuff, stealing his stuff, to using his name to profit. Take it from there. Weigh the ground she goes over.
I expected more.......2001-08-14
This book was an interesting read, but I expected more. It was too bad that the photos used were in black and white, specially the photo of Elvis that was taken four months after his "death". Another thing that bothered me were the chapters on Numerology and Clues. Here the author expresses her knowledge and beliefs on the New Age and Numerology. I was very uncomfortable with the way she accepts comparisons (sometimes forced to fit her theory) between Elvis and Jesus, made by other authors or people.
Besides that, this book opens the possibility that Elvis did not die on August 1977. The reasons for Elvis to fake his death along with other evidence strongly suggests that Elvis did have many reasons to dissapear from the public eye.

Does Conner really want to be with Elizabeth . . .
Okay. Jeffrey may be Elizabeth’s boyfriend.
But Conner’s the one who really needs her now.
Jeffrey’s just going to have to understand that.
Even if she’s spending time with Conner, it doesn’t mean there’s anything going on between them . . . does it?

Conner and Liz or Conner and Alanna?.......2003-05-14
Liz annoys me in this book. Throughout the book she is convinced that Conner still has feelings for her, but at the end when Conner goes after Alanna Liz goes home and realizes that she and Conner do not make a good couple. Please! She's probably only thinking this because Conner just ditched her for Alanna. If he hadn't done that she would have been all over him, but I don't exactly blame her ;) However, I did like the parts in the book where Todd and Conner both seemed a little jealous that Liz was with Jeff.
The Aaron/Melissa plot is really good. Also, I laughed at the name of the band Alanna and her mother went to see, "Boy Toy". Is that a real boy band?
I rate this book four stars only because I didn't care too much for the Jeremy/Trent plot. That was just boring.
Make up your mind, Elizabeth!.......2002-07-14
Elizabeth is together with her new boyfriend Jeff and happy with him (am I the only person who thinks Liz and Jeff are perfect for each other?!) when Conner and Alanna break up. Elizabeth is Conner's friend so she spends some time with him and realizes she still has feelings for him. She is torn between Jeff and Conner and spends the whole book trying to make up her mind. An interesting angle is that Jeff saw what was going on. The subplot was Trent and Jeremy making up from all the trouble caused in the book Troublemaker. I loved this book!
He's Back.......2002-06-17
This book was one of the best books in a long time. I read it in like a hour. Here's what happens:
Elizabeth becomes friends with Conner. She starts to think that she still may have feelings for him. Conner, though only thinks of Elizabeth as a friend. When Elizabeth is over at Conner's house Alanna comes over to apologize to Conner and sees Elizabeth. She gets mad and runs away. Conner, of course, runs after her and he cant catch up with her. I think he should have left her. I was hoping that Conner and Liz would get back together. I hate Alanna. She doesnt deserve him.
Alanna's mom tries to start spending time with alanna so she takes her shopping, a day spa, and a really lame boy band concert. She relizes that conner is the best thing she has so she goes over to his house to tell hime that. when she goes over there she sees liz at his house and freaks out.
Jeremy starts missing his best friend. Trent tries to apologize to Jeremy but every time Jeremy sees Trent he gets mad all over again so he wont forgive him. Later Trent hurts his foot and they make-up!
I hope i didnt give away to much!!! I really like this book and recomend this book and the whole svhsy series!
Liz and Conner.......2002-06-13
I'm pretty sure that everyone wants to see Liz and Conner together. I thought that this book would end with Liz and Conner kissing. Conner and Liz where one of the best things in the series. Alanna doesnt deserve Conner. She's lied to him, sumped him when he did a nice thing, and drinks. I hope Alanna goes back to rehab for a year.
good.......2002-06-03
this was a good book. i just really wanted connor and liz to get back together. i really hate alanna. i don't even care for jeff that much. liz needs to get with conner or todd but not jeff. i did think it was cool how conner and liz were talking again and acting just like they did when she lived with him. especially playing scrabble. i also liked that part because alanna got her feelings hurt. poor baby. i want some stories about maria and ken or jess and jeremy before the series is over still. are we even going to hear anything about winston egbert or maria santelli or any of the old gang? probably in the last book. anyway all these books are good and i hate to see the series end but i think it's getting close. i also wish she would of kept writing SVU books. i mean we need to know who the twins marry and what they become after they graduate college. i think i'm a little too involved in these books or something. anyway SVHSY is the best series ever written and everybody should read it.

The Real Reason.......2000-06-10
If you slept with him on the first date, the reason he didn't call you back is because you were bad in bed, not because he was only looking to 'get some.' If you didn't sleep with him on the first date, it may have been the perfect date for you, but it wasn't the perfect date for him. But chances are the real reason he didn't call you back is because he doesn't like you. Get over it.
