great reference book for flexibility.......2007-09-21
I am getting into martial arts at the age of 40. I have good flexability, but wanted more. This book will help you understand not only what stretch you are doing, but why. Excellent choice for beginner to advanced students.
The Book on Stretching .......2007-09-05
This book has helped me develop from a waist high kicker at best to a head high kicker within 6 months. The stretches and drills are invaluable then to top it off, the explanations and anatomical drawings are informative, but easy to understand. Not only is the information vital for you to know as a martial artist, but the author addresses different types of goals and how to set them and stick to them. Indispensable for the martial artist that wants to remain injury free and strong for many years.

Essential for evry type of sporting activity.......2007-07-20
A must have for participants of any sport. This book was so good that I gave a copy to a friend as a birthday gift. It gives detailed instructions for safe, effective, and most efficient stretching and flexibility. Pictures illustrate the actions very well, and the book explains not only the hows and whats, but the the whys of each exercise as well. exercises can be combined by groups of muscles, and by sport.
This is a very realistic approach that is sure to capture the interest and attention of anyone who desires a greater degree of flexibility than they now have, regardless of age.
I am 53 years old. I have used the methods in the book for a little over a year, and they have really worked well for me.

Dear Stupid Idiots,
A lot of you have been saying that I don't know anything about REAL ninjas. But that's a bunch of bull crap! You dummies don't know anything. And maybe YOU should get a life. I bet a lot of you have never even seen a girl naked! You idiots believe that ninjas had some "code of honor." Yeah right! If by "code of honor," you mean "code to flip out and go nuts for absolutely no reason at all even if it means that people might think you are totally insane or sweet," then you are right. But if you mean a "code to be nice and speak nicely while sharing and not cutting off heads," then you're the biggest idiot ever!!!!!! So if you have any brains, you will shut up and get a life. So go shut up, you stupid idiot.
No thank you,
Robert Hamburger

funny at first.......2007-10-02
at first it started pretty funny... ninjas are cool...yada yada yada... and i admit i like silly humor. then chapter 4 comes around, and theres nothing witty...its basically the same joke repeated over and over.
Love it.......2007-09-25
Warning: This book has nothing to do with real ninjas.
If you can't take a joke, this book ain't for you. If your a woman, this might be for you but might find some things offensive. This book has absolutely nothing to with ninjas but it is hilarious. It is a book that feels like it has been written by a 13 year old boy with his babysitter as his editor. Just by looking at the name, Robert Hamburger, and the fake reviews, this book is one of the best toilet readers I've had since "The Alphabet of Manliness"
Down the middle.......2007-07-19
You are either going to LOVE this book or HATE this book. If you go to his website and look at that for a little bit, that will tell you whether or not you will love or hate this book.
Yawn.......2007-06-25
There were funny parts to the book, but they were all on the website, too. Save your money, go to the website, and see the good parts. The rest of the book is just boring.
Tedious.......2007-06-09
Don't get me wrong. It's funny. However, if you've seen the web site, the book offers little that is new, and it gets old fast. This might be a good book to have as a conversation piece, or in the bathroom, but let's face it, people will probably think less of you if you own it.

Loved it so much I purchase 2 more for gifts!.......2007-07-30

This is easily the most comprehensive and complete guide out there. Very easy to follow and understand every concept presented.
Simply the most comprehensice survival guide that I have seen........2007-05-07

Every survival situation that I can think of is here.(Hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, etc;) It also has basic to advanced camping info. Overall, I am very impressed. Massive book, with massive loads of info.
Man in the Wild.......2007-04-10

Customer Reviews:
Not a bad book.......2007-02-18
I just got this book and just read the table of contents. The first thing I noticed is that it only has 6 pages on leg exercises. I am becoming a good bowler because 50 percent of bowling has to do with having strong, quick, and flexable legs and knees. Yet he only has 6 pages on the subject of leg exercises and the reccomended exercises with legs.
Another reason why I am starting to get good at bowling is because chest mussles a long with back mussles are very important at bowling. Working on my chest and back mussles will increase my bowling greatly. Having strong chest mussles, good strong Abs, and back mussles is 25 percent of being in good enough shape to be a good bowler.
He has 4 pages of exercises on Chest exercises and 4 pages on Back exercises and 5 pages on Abs. So 75% of what you need to be in shape to be a good bowler he only used 17 pages out of a 64 page book.
Now he does have 4 pages of exercises on Biceps and Forearms Exercises. These exercises are important to being a good bowler. If I had to say about 20% of what you need to be a good bowler. So the book is a total of 64 pages and in 21 pages he has 95 pecent of the exercises that will help you become in shape to be a good bowler.
Having strong shoulders is a very small part in becoming a good bowler. I would say maybe 5 percent. Yet he has 5 pages of exercises on it. The good news is that if you want to know in my opion what exercises you need to due to be in shape for bowling all you have to do is read 26 out of 64 pages of the book.
The rest of the book while it will make a great work out program and make you in beter shape. It should not really help you in your bowling game because you are just doing exercises that really don't have to do with mussles that will help in bowling. However if you wanted a general weight lifting book these pages might come in handy.
Was it worth me buying yes because 21 of the pages are really going to help me in my bowling a lot and 5 pages are going to help me in my bowling a little the Shoulder Exercises. Is 21 pages of great help and 5 pages of little help worth 20 bucks? I say yes because it is the only book on Weight Training for Bowling out there. So I would say spend the 20 bucks and read the 21 pages and do those exercises.
Not bad.......2006-06-29
Not a bad little guide.
BTW it's cheaper to just buy it from the author's website.....just look at the 2nd page of the excerpt.
Tex McFaden's Review of The Ultimate Guide..........2005-03-06
It's not only the "ultimate" guide to weight training for bowling, but I think that it's the ONLY guide to weight training for bowlng. Obviously, anyone could build a workout program to strengthen their body, but it's nice to have a resource provided by knowledgeable folks to make it easy for you. This guide provides an easy to ready plan, complete with pictures, to help bowlers improve their strength. The purpose is to help bowlers ultimately improve the explosive quality of the ball in the pocket, from the first roll to the last. This is most critical when bowlers get caught in a long day at competitive meets where they are sure to bowl more than three quick games. The stress of competition can easily tire a competitor physically, so physical fitness is a must. This book walks you through the stretching and the exercises and a rotation plan that uses four different training programs. It's a short, to-the-point book that may be a no-brainer to fitness buffs, but still serves as a handy reference to keep everyone, at any level, focused and fit. The rating is based on the fact that the book accomplishes its stated purpose and meets the expectations that anyone should have for this book.

Ultimate drills for champions.......2007-01-04
Even if you, like me, don't intend to be a champion pro (maybe an Am champion...?), these drills will improve your game for sure. Anyway they are the pro's drills. I've checked many other sources in books and DVDs and these are the most common drills advised to golf players. And no other source were so complete. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 becouse there are only drills. It could be completed with a swing overview, in order to make the drills more understandable. It's not there becouse the author has another book only on the 8 parts of the swing. But it worths the price.
GOLF DIGEST'S ULTIMATE DRILL BOOK.......2005-09-29
AS HE ALWAYS DOES JIM MCLEAN DEMONSTRATES THAT HE KNOWS GOLF. HE KNOWS HOW TO FIX DEFICIENT GOLF SWINGS. THE DRILLS HE OFFERS MUST BE A BENEFIT TO EVERY GOLFER, BEGINNER AND PROFESSIONAL. BUY THIS BOOK AND SEE FOR YOURSELF.
Terrible for golfers who know the game.......2005-09-21
This book is for the real beginner as the title of the book is totally misleading
So So.......2005-09-16
Just an ok book. Pictures are low quality. Would have expected better from Golf Digest and Jim Mclean. It is straight and to the point but make sure you at least have a solid working knowldge of all aspects of the game before considering this book. You can get much of the same information for free at various golf web sites. Not bad but not very clear in many regards.
120 Drills to Specifically Targeted to Swing Improve.......2004-09-06
One of golf's great teachers provides 120 of his best drills for all aspects of the game: driving, chipping, iron shots, putts, sand, as well as warmup and mental focus.
Each is accompanied by excellent two page format showing: problem, result, goal and practice procedure, with an accompanying photo.
There are just some exellent drills here for what ails you. For me there are some ten or so already that have helped. Check this one out, especially if you are the skilled player who already has a pretty solid idea of your problems. This is some good stuff for those as well as some basic good drills for all golfers.

Alaska Fishing.......2007-09-25
I now live in rural Alaska and my husband has fished all summer - fresh salmon can't be beat! This book was spot on and I look forward to using it to surprise my husband with a cool fishing trip. The pictures were excellant and look just like what I live in!
Probably too good.......2007-08-21
This book is the best, but I think I could do without all the colored pictures, a smaller book, and less expensive. After all, are you going fishing, or sitting in your recliner looking at all the nice pictures?
Beautiful and comprehensive, an excellent reference for fishing in Alaska.......2007-07-12
I was very pleased with this purchase. The book covers all of the major sport fish that can be expected in Alaska. Each species gets a detailed treatment including biology, tackle, fishing techniques, and some of the best places to go for each species. The authors also provide a detailed discussion of the various geographic regions of the state (including contact information for guides and air taxis) making it easy to plan a fishing trip by region or by species. The book is filled with photography that beautifully illustrates the fish and places of Alaska.
Explore Alaska.......2007-04-12
Any fisherman planning a trip to Alaska should check out this reference. There are tips on hiring a guide and exploring the waterways on your own.
alaska fishing.......2007-03-16
This book should definately be on your list if you are planning a fishing trip to Alaska. It is the most comprehesive source of information that I have seen.

best book I have used.......2007-10-07
I breed, train, raise and sell TWH. I also am a practioner of Equine Massage. This book has given me wonderful results in my communication and training of my horses. It is now my #1 gift-giving book for friends who are committed to working seriously with their horses. It is easy to understand, concise, values my limited time. M
Very good book.......2007-07-13
I really like this book. It gave me some good tools for working with my young horse.
if you love your horse(s) as much as we do, get this book!!!.......2007-05-13
Even if you have a whole shelf filled with books on horses, and you're lucky enough to have at least one of these magnificent creatures to care for, this book is a must have. we are still practicing a few of the technics currently on our mare. She loves the contact(and touching).
and the author also covers the issues of horses who do not like to be handled or touched due to accidents, abuse, etc. and how to gain their trust. And most importantly,it makes you more attuned to their needs in general.
Not Quite the "Ultimate".......2007-05-07
I would say the book is half training and half sensory / massage techniques. Granted the techniques are incorporated into her training methodology, but it's a dual education. Learning the massage techniques, their purpose and results, then learn how to incorporate them into the appropriate training methodology.
I believe the methods are worthwhile, but there's a large human learning curve. To me it's a book that must be read at least twice, and then referred to constantly per training result needed.
With that said, independent of training, I have used a few of the massage techniques on my horses with great results. But with general life, (work, children, husband, etc....) in the several months I've had the book I've only progressed to using several of the massage techniques. I've referred to other books for training help.
I like the book, it's written well (provided I read it twice, the progression makes sense to me). I do not see it as a straight forward guide to training. More so a guide that is great when I have time to devote to it's philosophies and learn the massage base techniques first that accompany the training.
For straight forward training assistance I prefer Clint Anderson, Lynn Palm, Parelli and John Lyons (to name a few).
Ultimate Horse Behavior and Training Book.......2007-04-11
ok - alot of things i wasn't looking for and won't use but for someone that is into that sort of thing i suppose it is okay
Book Description
Developed for the Israel military forces and battle tested in real-life combat, Krav Maga has gained an international reputation as an easy-to-learn yet highly effective art of self-defense. Clearly written and extensively illustrated, Complete Krav Maga details every aspect of the system including dozens of hand-to-hand combat moves, over 20 weapons defense techniques and a complete physical conditioning workout program.
All the moves are described in depth from beginning Yellow Belt to advanced Black Belt, yet they are easy to learn because one of Krav Maga's strengths is its simplicity. Based on the principle that it is best to move from defense to attack as quickly as possible, Complete Krav Maga offers fast-escape maneuvers from attacks and holds. It then follows them up with specific counterattacks, including punches, kicks and throws.
The authors show how anyone (big or small, man or woman) can practice self defense by using Krav Maga to protect weak spots, exploit an assailant's vulnerabilities and turn the attacker’s force against him. Complete Krav Maga teaches the reader how to get in shape, gain confidence and feel safer and more secure every day.

Complete Krav Maga.......2007-10-17
This is the first book on Krav Maga I purchased. When it arrived I looked through it and knew I had picked probably the best first book to buy. It turns out it's also the book used as the official guide book in the US for this subject. I realized too I could learn quite a lot from the book without an instructor if necessary, since Krav Maga instructors are more rare in the US.
I highly recommend this book.......2007-10-16
John Whitman and Darren Levine did an amazing job with this book. They are two of the best Krav instructors and to be able to learn from them, is to learn how to do Krav the safe and effective way. They do a great job of translating what they do and teach in the classroom into this book.
Complete Krav Maga - great book !.......2007-10-11
Complete Krav Maga: The Ultimate Guide to Over 200 Self-Defense and Combative Techniques
This is a great book to highlight the Krav Maga style. I've never studied this art before, but the book is so well done, I think that I could learn a lot with just a partner to practice with. Highly recommended !!
a real krav maga handbook.......2007-09-14
j'm very impressed it's a clear gallery of krav maga techniques in my opinion a perfect companion for how to defend yourself against armed assault by Yanilov
well done
A Good Basic Guide, Just as the Authors Intended !.......2007-09-12
I just finished reading "Complete Krav Maga" by Darren Levine and John Whitman for the second time in as many weeks and I have to say that it is a very well done book covering the basic techniques needed to advance through the ranks of Krav Maga from yellow belt all the way up to and including brown belt. However, having said that, it should be noted that as the author so firmly states, "Krav Maga is not a martial art, it is a form of self-defense."
I only have one small complaint with this book and that is that in one respect, it is no different from the vast majority of books out there that try and teach you too many things in one volume and don't spend enough time on each individual technique. This one small detractor is greatly overshadowed by the sheer amount of good solid information that it does include, of which the importance of principles being stressed as far more important than technique itself is perhaps the most profound.
The authors have provided some very good basic information on the execution of techniques, although not as detailed as they should be, which is understandable in the context of what the authors were trying to get across to the readers. It should be noted though that this book is intended to be used as guide for the reader to learn and develop the self-defensive skills that they will be able to utilize effectively in a self-defense situation, not a certain number of techniques set in stone to advance to the next rank.
Although I enjoyed the vast majority of the material presented in this book, I personally liked the sections dealing with various ground fighting skills and defenses against various weapons the most. Another notable section of this book was the various training examples that were presented throughout.
Now I don't know if I am going to offend a bunch of people here or not, but my personal take on Krav Maga is similar to that of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, in that it borrows those techniques from various systems that prove to be most effective and combine them with a central "core" style and then add an outstanding set of principles to create an effective means of self-defense.
This is a very worth while book to purchase if you are interested in learning how to defend yourself against a variety of attacks. However, as I stated earlier, if you want to really learn how to correctly execute the individual techniques, you will need to purchase some additional books. Here are the ones I would recommend to improve your punching and kicking skills.

As noted dietitian Madelyn H. Fernstrom, Ph.D., C.N.S., explains, the eating plan that best meets the needs of runners at all levels is based on a 50 percent carb, 25 percent protein, 25 percent fat ratio. Here Dr. Fernstrom details a realistic program, individualized for each person's activity level, that will enable runners to maximize their performance while maintaining long-term success at weight control.

For Novice, novice.......2007-04-26
I've been running marathons for about 10 years now and never focused my training on diet. I picked up this book in the hopes on finding tips about dieting for runners, but obviously, this book is for walkers, runners. I'm running anywhere between 70 to 100 miles a week and this book is clearly for runners averaging about 15 miles a week. Good book if you're in that camp.
Ok for beginning runners to lose weight.......2006-11-02
I was looking for a book to give me meal plans and snacks to help fuel my runs. This is more of a diet book for those who want to lose weight.
Not for experienced runners! .......2006-10-17
I was looking for a book to help me make better choices with my diet that would help me tone up and energize my runs. This book is geared toward people who used to run and would like to get back to it or people who want to run. I am currently pulling down 30+ miles per week and most of the examples were running 16 miles per week.
This book is not a bad read. It is easy and straight to the point. It is just not for people wanting to tweak their game. It is for people that want to start or rekindle their game.
Still reading.......2006-10-09
I'm still reading the book but this seems to be a book suited for novice runners or even walkers. The "running" plans described in the book are really plans for walking and walking/running. When you have gotten to where you are running, she leaves you hanging.
I've also noticed typos or flaws in computing. For example, in one example she says that a person is eating 2250 calories per day and would need to reduce calorie intake to 1450 to lose one pound per week. Earlier it was clearly stated that cutting 500 calories a day would result in a one pound per week weight loss. According to my math, 2250-500 does not equal 1450.
Just what I was looking for.......2006-08-16
I wanted a simple plan to follow with simple tips to help me feel my strongest when running and this book was perfect for that. It's also great for anyone who runs and may want to lose a few pounds.

"This book is not a book about a toy. It is a book about an idea, a set of values, and a long-term commitment to empowering children to use their creativity and build their imagination."
So states Lego Group president Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen in his introduction to this fascinating, visually exciting tribute to Lego bricks and the people who play with them. Lego "maniacs" are no mere invention of Lego Group's industrious marketing machine. Enthusiastic fans of the ingeniously designed, colorful plastic building blocks do indeed exist, and in vast numbers--as of 1996, an estimated 300 million children and adults had played with Lego bricks since the first one rolled off the presses in 1949. (How many yellow knob-headed Lego people populate the earth today? A cool 2.3 billion.)
The visual wizards at Dorling Kindersley have labored together with the staff at Lego to assemble a hefty, photo-rich book essential to the library of any maniac (or maniac emeritus). The Ultimate Lego Book recounts the company's early history as a one-man operation back in the 1930s and subsequent creation of its first plastic "automatic binding brick," to the contemporary construction of myriad Legoland theme parks.
Trivia buffs will appreciate the playful but detailed graphic time line (first Lego window, 1957; first wheel, 1962; first dolphin, 1995). Everyone will love the pages of imagination-stretching constructions, from the small but clever (an unmistakable Elvis, complete with pompadour) to the overwhelmingly detailed (a meticulous model of Grand Central Station) to the downright strange (a life-size space helmet with visor and gas mask). The Lego universe includes a Mona Lisa replica, a 10,500-piece pelican, and even a yellow submarine. Enjoy! (Ages 6 to 106) --Paul Hughes

Creative and Interesting.......2007-02-20
This book is an ultimate hit. The history of the Lego is described and then creations that fit every category are shown. Some of the hints on how to build things are really helpful.
This book IS for anyone who likes Lego's.
Ultimate Lego Book.......2007-01-15
I have 3 boys who all clamor to look at this book. They all love legos and this book has great pictures and inspiration. It's a must for any avid lego fan.
Stars in his eyes.......2007-01-10
We bought this book as a Christmas gift for our 10-year-old nephew [in combination with Lego Crazy Action Contraptions: A Lego Inventions Book (Klutz)]. His eyes were as big and round as Christmas-tree ornaments as he flipped through the books and saw the myriad wonderful things he could build with his treasured blocks. And, with two huge tubs of Lego pieces already in his possession, we figured he didn't need yet another set of Legos... but perhaps something nifty to build with them all. This fills the bill nicely!
For all ages!.......2007-01-10
I purchased this for my seven-year old, yet my 20-year old enjoyed it just as much! Great pictures!
