Book Description
In preparation for their long-awaited wedding day, Dayne and Katy are determined to keep the ceremony a secret from the paparazzi. Their relationship grows closer and stronger as they plan together, but in the end it takes the help of the Baxter family and many of the CKT kids so that they’ll even have a chance at a private wedding. John Baxter is thrilled that his oldest son will be settling down a few miles away, but he isn’t sure how any of his kids will handle a situation he can no longer run from--the feelings he is having for his friend Elaine. In the meantime, the Flanigan family is struggling with their young boarder, Cody Coleman, Jim Flanigan’s star receiver. After an alcohol overdose, Cody fights for his life. Only God’s grace and a miracle can bring him back from the brink of death--physically and spiritually.

Sunrise.......2007-10-10
Karen Kingsbury has done it again..This book is AMAZING....I laughed, cried & now look at the sunrise in a different way..
Romantic to da core!.......2007-09-29
A much better series. I was moved. I was bored somewhere in the middle of the firstborn series and was realy praying this would be different. Thankfully it was!
good way to spend an afternoon.......2007-09-15
I read this in one afternoon and enjoyed it. The plot _is_ a bit thin, but Sunrise seems more like a transitional book, mainly written to wrap up the Firstborn series and lay the groundwork for the Sunrise series. As such, it works well. There were some minor inconsistencies (the press is watching the Baxter family to guess where the wedding is, but Katy's parents can take a commercial jet to Mexico with no problems? Wouldn't somebody be watching them, too?) but all in all, I love the book, and appreciated it more after reading Summer.
Sunrise.......2007-09-15
I was very pleased with the product; it was in great condition and arrived at just the right time. The quality of the book was excellent, better than I had expected.
The Baxters continue.......2007-09-13
Karen Kingsbury continues the Baxter family lives. It is a very good read and inspirational. Will keep buying the stories.

not all that it's cracked up to be .......2007-09-20
kind of vague not as much technique as I expected, but i dont regret buying it
A big disappointment.......2007-09-20
I was very disappointed by this book and don't agree with the glowing reviews.
I am a photographer who was interested in the difference between film shooting and digital shooting in a wedding situation.
I found this book to be VERY basic and is more appropriate for someone who is brand new to the wedding photography.
Even with that I found the information stated the obvious. For example, I think working with flash to be one of the more challenging areas of being new to digital. There were some basic instructions and some pictures that would be in my waste basket not shown as some "cool" effect.
All in all this is a general text for someone who may never have been to a wedding and/or has very little exposure to wedding photography. I would not recommend this book to anyone above the amateur level.
Worst photography book I've tried.......2007-09-06
I find it hard to find anything to agree with the positive reviewers. After reviewing this book, I conclude that some photography books are just about selling books, not valuable instruction. This one does not provide anything but the most very basic input. If you are not completely new to photography, then this book is probably too basic for you.
I purchased this book because I have a couple of weddings booked as an assistant & 2nd shooter, and like you wanted something to "bone up" on that I may otherwise miss. I flipped thru each section, but decided to return the book instead of spending valuable time reading further. This book is so basic, covering the most basic camera functions and simple personal interactions, that it is not worth the time to read thoroughly. My teenage daughter has taken some high school basic photography classes, and politely commented that "this book is silly".
A wedding shoot is critical to the couple, and there are no 2nd chances for a re-shoot. If you really feel the need to cover the basics, I suggest one covering general photography elements, practicing, and returning to weddings after those become second nature. Although a different genre, I can recommend Michael Freeman's "Light & Lighting in Digital Photography".
Awesome Book!.......2007-09-04
I am new at wedding photography so I purchased this book. It is absolutely the best one I have read so far. It covers everything! Glen Johnson walks you through every aspect of the photography business. It is much more than a "wedding" photography book. It covers everything- from equipment to lighting to everything. I love it!!!!!
Glen Johnson knows what he's talking about..........2007-08-28
Very inspiring book and one thing I've noticed about Glen is he is all about helping others. Many photographers want to keep the secrets to themselves, but Glen let's all the good stuff out in this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in Wedding Photography as he gives you such a wide range of information covering nearly every aspect of the wedding photography project to completion and gives several recommendations on current products on the market. I even noticed after reviewing Glen's website that he offers this book signed by him from his website. It's much more affordable here on Amazon, but it's different to get the signed version. My hat's off to Glen for an outstanding book.
I recommend this book to the non-traditional photographer. This would appeal more so to the photo journalist or the portrait journalist as this is Glen's photography style. Thanks for putting this book together Glen!

Book Description
Even if you've never attended a wedding in the South, you'll find laughter in the pages of this deliciously entertaining slice of Southern life and love, complete with recipes, advice, and a huge dose of that famous charm"In the Mississippi Delta, funerals bring out the best in people, while weddings, which are supposed to be happy occasions, bring out the worst." So say Gayden Metcalfe and Charlotte Hays, authors of the bestseller Being Dead Is No Excuse: The Official Southern Ladies' Guide to Hosting the Perfect Funeral, who turn their keen eyes and sharp wit from the end of the life cycle to the all-important midpoint. For anyone planning, participating in, or attending a wedding (Southern or not), this book will amuse, entertain, and provide advice for marital bliss, including:--It's OK to peek at an etiquette book, but if you rely too heavily on it, people will think that you are not fully acquainted with what is right and wrong. --Anything that was not done in the past doesn't need to be done now -- consider this before ordering a groom's cake, especially one featuring a fishing-tackle or golfing theme.
Customer Reviews:
Not your typical wedding book . . ........2007-10-01
I love this book! It captures the frantic activities of all involved with such
humor that you hope one of your over-age daughters will soon be headed for the altar! It definitely lives up to the title.
Truth Can Be So Funny.......2007-05-31
Wonderfully witty - way too tame a term! - but oh, so realistic book about weddings, interspersed with recipes and tales of weddings past. I loved it and am recommending it to all my southern and not so southern friends and relatives.
The Wedding Book.......2007-05-17
It was very good but not quite as good as their first book.
good book & recipes- 'being dead' much funnier.......2007-05-16
I am from the South and the funeral book had me laughing so hard i - liketa died crying. this one is good and funny but not nearly as hilarious as the first one. I have childhood memories full of the green punch so that is a great addition. The recipes look good and there seems to be extra ones including alcohol, which is probably more appropriate.
I loved how they added the author's pictures in the back. The one lady-Gayden definitely looks like she is a woman from the South. However, the other, Charlotte, definitely looks as though she has left the South, as well as forgeting her cosmetic case behind. Like myself, when you leave and live somewhere else for awhile (in the north), the pressure is off to keep yourself looking well groomed and with at least SOME makeup. Bare-faced does not look good on anyone and at least makeup protects the skin from wrinkles because of the sun's damage. If still living in the South, her friends would ask her, 'Are you OK!?' knowing she must be sick or depressed in order to be seen with no makeup and her hair looking like that. Maybe that should be their next book; the pressure of appearance, shaving your legs, and makeup in the South. I'd be happy to help them out.
I was excited to see they had another book, but it is not nearly as hilarious as the first. It seems more tamed, or influenced by someone else's editing, a humorless northerner perhaps. Still a good book with good to have recipes on hand. rms
I keep it in my Kitchen :).......2007-05-12
There are some wonderful recipes in these books...I have this one and the one about the funerals. They are kept with my cookbooks because that is pretty much what they are. Reminds me of Justin Wilsons' cookbooks.

This practical companion to The Knot Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World acts as a stand-alone guide to the nuts and bolts of planning a wedding. The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner is where the bride and groom can record wedding ideas, create budget guidelines, check items off their to-do list, generate the guest list, store contact information for their wedding vendors, and get tips and advice on the best way to plan their big day.
Chapter by chapter, the planner walks the bridal couple through each major step: for example, choosing the reception site, picking a photographer, and deciding on a menu. Author Carley Roney and the editors of The Knot Web site have talked with both wedding professionals and hundreds of thousands of brides and grooms, and have a good idea of the necessary ingredients for a successful wedding. Most helpful and thorough are each chapter's "Questions to Ask" checklists and the "Knot Knowledge" tips, which include money-saving ideas. The book also contains a gift log, a budget tracker, and a wedding-day phone contacts sheet.
Roney offers loads of helpful advice, such as recommending that the bride and groom declare "wedding free zones" where the couple makes time for activities together that have nothing to do with planning the wedding. Each chapter also includes her down-to-earth answers to commonly asked questions, such as whether it's appropriate for a relative to host a shower or if the wedding couple should pay for guests' travel expenses. With all of its tips, advice, and organizers, The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner may just be, next to a wedding coordinator, the best way for modern couples to ensure their wedding is a smoothly run, stress-free affair. --Kris Law

The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner.......2007-09-24
I thought this book was very good. It has a list of things that I never thought of and the worksheets are great. The only thing that would have been an added bonus was a place to keep documents within the book. However, for first time brides as myself this book was much needed.
not pleased.......2007-08-24
I was not pleased with this - the inside was black and white - very text heavy. Who has time to read all those annoying lists when they're getting married? They want to look at pretty things and keep things organized. I ended up giving it away.
a good first choice.......2007-08-23
I liked this book but bought the 3 ring binder and didnt have much use for it.
My Favorite Wedding Helper!.......2007-07-31
While this book wasn't the "end all" to planning my wedding, it gave a great basic overview that helped me not to forget things. It is full of wonderful worksheets that proved more helpful than I realized at the time; without them I wouldn't have been able to remain on budget. I really recomend it, because it helps you know what percentage of your budget you should spend on different parts of your wedding (for example, if you have a budget of $15,000, and flowers should be 5% of your budget, then you know that you can plan to spend $750 on flowers and still be in budget.) They even broke it down further so that you knew what expenses fell into the "flower" category (alter flowers, boquets, corsages, decorative flowers for the reception hall, etc.) I loved it!
Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful.......2007-05-04
This was the best wedding book yet which I'm still using it I loved all of the worksheet I even copyed them onto my scanner and printed them in different colors so I could keep better organized.

vampires, werewolves, and pirates oh my!.......2007-09-29
some of the stories were fantastic, some were just good, but hey, isn't that the whole point of getting a collection of short stories? that way you can check out what all the authors are like without committing to a ton of books. i think the book is pretty good.
Anthologies can be tricky things..........2007-08-24
You're never 100% certain of what you're going to get. They can be great for finding new authors and/or filling in the waiting period til the next book from your favourite author. Or they can make you feel like you've wasted your time.
Although word of mouth said that My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding was an uninspiring collection as a big fan of Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris and Sherrilyn Kenyon I wanted to find out for myself.
Where it works - the stories that are set in an ongoing series. Jim Butcher's Something Borrowed is a solid entry into the Harry Dresden series. Although I'm not familiar with Lori Handeland's Night Creatures universe her story (Charmed by the Moon) still managed to draw me in, keep me interested and made me want to check out her backlist.
Sherrilyn Kenyon's story whilst not reaching the emotional intensity of Phantom Lover from the Midnight Pleasures anthology is a vast improvement on Until Death Do We Part (Velkan and Retta's story from the Love at First Bite antho.)Though I wish she would cut down on the point of view head hopping.
One other story that stood out for me was Esther Friesner's The Wedding of Wylda Serene. Whilst slow to get into it had some very witty lines that had me laughing out loud.
Having read the stories I am disappointed. Overall the anthology is okay, but there is not enough here that stands out. Maybe it's a case of trying to cram too many authors in to one book.
Anthologies I would recommend - for Sherrilyn Kenyon - Midnight Pleasures, Stroke of Midnight. For Charlaine Harris - Bite (as part of the ongoing Sookie series), Night's Edge (standalone story).
One of the best anthologies I've read.......2007-06-08
Usually anthologies are like panning for gold. You've got to sift through a lot of dirt to get the gold nuggets. This anthology, however, was the motherlode. All the stories were entertaining. Out of the nine, the last two were the weakest, but still a good short read.
I was pleasantly surprised by Charlaine Harris's contribution. I expected a Sookie story, but instead received a good vampire/werewolf story with no Sookie in sight. It is alwasy nice to see another part of the world which an author has created.
Jim Butcher was in true form with his entry. Gee I just love Harry Dresden, no matter what he is doing.
All in all I recommend this book for a short quick read. I already have a waiting list of people who want to borrow it from me.
teaser!.......2007-05-31
what a teaser! Just when u are getting into one of the story, its over! but i guess that is what u can expect from and anthology.
Wow! great collection.......2007-04-23
This collection was just stunning! Great combo, some of the stories are amazingly funny and a few are very spooky. Wonderful read, but a few at a time, there is definitely some overlap of ideas. P.S. LOOOved the Esther Freisner story. But I'm biased.

Book Description
Highly respected and used in the field's top programs, CURRENT PSYCHOTHERAPIES provides students of counseling, psychology, and social work with an authoritative treatment of the major systems of psychotherapy. Each contributor is either an originator or a leading proponent of one of the systems, and each presents the basic principles of the system in a clear and straightforward manner, discussing it in the context of the other systems.
Customer Reviews:
A disappointment, but good for masters students.......2007-10-13
I am taking a masters course that reviews the major theories of counseling, and this is the one and only book required for that course. I have the 7th edition, but he 8th is very similar. I am sorry to report that this book, while a good starting point for a master's student who is required to do outside research for papers, etc., is poorly and unevenly written and rarely does justice to the topic being presented. In particular, most of my fellow students thought the presentation of Gestalt therapy and Jung's analytical psychology were very poorly presented and did not give the reader an understanding of how these psychotherapies actually worked. A few others thought the chapter on Adlerian psychotherapy was fairly bad, although I don't think the theory itself is particularly intersting so who cares (my opinion, obviously).
I thought the chapter on Person-centered therapy was good, but this is not surprising as most American therapists prefer Rogers so it is unlikely to be given short shrift.
In general, I would NOT recommend this book unless you are a) a master's student and will be doing further research on these therapies, or 2) you are an intelligent layperson who is interested in a single book that presents all the major therapies and is willing to overlook a fairly bad explanation in roughly 50% of the chapters. I realize that people are interested in self-helping themselves and learning about how to make themselves feel better without resorting to therapy. But really, if you are depressed, neurotic, or just plain miserable, you would be better off seeing a therapist, even for just 6 to 8 weeks, than trying to slog your way thru this dreadful and dry and unrealistic book on the descriptions of various psychotherapies.
If you are at all academic, intelligent, artistic, or introverted, I strongly recommend Jung's Man and His Symbols instead. It will send you on the humanistic path to personal individuation, which is a wholly unexpected personal journey that only YOU can complete. Jung can give you the clues you need to make your life a happy one. On the other hand, this book is just a poor cook book for hapless students who are forced to read it.
Current Psychotherapies/Corsini and Wedding/7th ed/2005/InfoTrac.......2006-12-05
This is a very thorough overview of the most popular psychotherapies today. I had to mentally prepare each time I sat down to read this book. Often times I felt the detail was unnecessary (ample detail) for the purpose of the text. However, my understanding of current psychotherapies is based on this book alone. My first Qtr of grad school/counseling/no psych background. I just got my hands on Corey, G. -- its a much easier read but, I am reading it after Corsini and Wedding. So you'll have to decide...Hope you enjoy!
Current Psychotherapies.......2006-11-05
This was a great overview of the therapies which dominate the counseling field. I have also read Gerald Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy, 7th ed. Current Psychotherapies by Corsini and Wedding did a thorough overview with great application. I recommend it highly.
Excellent introduction to the many psychotherapies.......2005-01-07
This book provides excellent introductions to a variety of psychotherapies, indeed the most popular methods today. There are over 400 different therapies, and as such this book can not cover them all. However, the book does provide adequate detail for an indepth overview of the therapies, and comes highly recommended to beginning students and graduate students alike.
Very informative.......2004-07-29
This book gives brief but thorough explanations of the various theories used in clinical practice. This book is dull, at times, but highly useful. A great addition to any knowledge base.

Book Description
The wedding business is a $45 billion a year industry. With more than 2.4 million weddings taking place in the U.S. in 2004, there are more opportunities for wedding planners that ever before.
Wedding planners have an exciting high-paying job that lets them use their creativity to organize the happiest day of people's lives. No special education is necessary to succeed in this career.
This book explains how to plan a wedding, including how to prepare a timeline schedule and budget, a step-by-step list of all tasks involved in planning a wedding, how to plan the ceremony and reception, how to select reputable vendors, and how to negotiate contracts and save money. The CD-ROM included with the book has many forms and checklists to use in wedding planning.
This book also provides information on more than a dozen types of employers that hire wedding planners, how to find job openings, how to prepare a resume, and how to do well in an interview.
Additionally, the book covers how to start a wedding planning business with little or no money and explains how to price services, find potential clients, create an impressive portfolio, and where to get creative ideas for weddings.

Very Helpful!.......2007-09-12
I found this book to be very informative and helpful for starting my new business. It has plenty of details and suggestions to help you get started!
Great book for this industry.......2007-01-04
Wedding Planning is something I like to do in my spare time and this book has some great advice, tips, and general information for being a successful Wedding Planner.
Becoming a Wedding Planner.......2006-03-22
I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone interested in becoming a wedding planner. I could have saved myself a lot of time and trouble if I had purchased this book before I started my own research. Amazing book!!
Wedding Planner/Coordinator Guide .......2005-09-10
I loved this book because it didn't totally focus on the aspect of becoming a wedding planner, but also the more silent topics. It provided me with perfect examples of purchase orders, service requests, billing, and the how to's of marketing my future business. One can apply the information in this book to almost any personal business with a little tweeking of words and services, of course.... Highly recommend the FabJob Guide to becoming anything your heart desires!!!
Dynamite!.......2005-08-12
For the size and intent, this is the best book on the market. If you are thiking of becoming a professional wedding planner, this introductory book covers all the things you will have to learn. What it doesn't cover in detail, it points you in the direction of where you can find more information, with recommended websites and book titles. What it won't do, however, is teach you all the minute and various specific details that apply to your market and jurisdiction. As with any business, you still have to do a lot of legwork before you can actually make any money. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know exactly what's involved in getting started.

What makes a perfect wedding? "[The bride] and the groom both look as though there were sunlight behind their eyes, as though their mouths irresistibly turned to smiles," wrote Emily Post in 1922's Etiquette. Great-granddaughter-in-law Peggy Post, author of the fourth edition of Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette, absolutely agrees with Miss Emily. To ensure those bright eyes and smiles, she imparts thoughtful and commonsensical advice on how to plan for not just your wedding, but for all the social and familial obligations and traditions that a wedding entails.
Unlike many wedding manuals, Post includes advice for the "encore" bride as well as for the new bride. In this day of remarriages and blended families, tact and strategy are often needed to make sure feelings aren't hurt and everything runs as smoothly as possible. A chapter on multicultural and interfaith marriages addresses differing world traditions and how they can be incorporated into a touching ceremony that makes both the couple and their families happy. If you are unsure of who is supposed to do what, Post gives you clear instruction, often including a flow chart that delineates the responsibilities of all people involved in the wedding party (bride's parents throw the engagement party, best man returns the tuxes, flower girl's family pays for her outfit).
Throughout Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette are sidebars with questions asked of Post regarding an amazing array of wedding-related conundrums ("My daughter's fiancé wants to follow his family's tradition of having a money tree at the wedding. I personally find this distasteful; can I say so?"). This is a great book to find the answers for all those sticky questions. All involved in the wedding process should leaf through, get their bearings, smile, and then forge ahead. --Dana Van Nest

One of the better wedding books for general questions.......2007-09-23
This was one of the better basic books, for a few questions you can't find the answer to - writing letters, listing on invitation, etc.
outdated.......2007-09-01
I am a traditionalist but found no help from this book - there were so many options that there were no 'real etiquette' answers
Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette.......2007-08-09
Emily Post is known as the expert on wedding etiquette, so naturally that's what I ordered for a friend. The book was shipped promptly and arrived in excellent condition.
Disappointing.......2007-05-14
I'm getting married in a couple of years, and I already had Emily Post's 16e book on general etiquette, so I thought it would be good to get the full scope of weddings with this book. I feel really stupid for that now, because the book is small, doesn't contain most of the information that the general etiquette book has on weddings, and therefore isn't something you can use separately anyway. It's completely lacking on information, and so if you have to choose between getting this book or getting the general one and having some extra information about other things, get the general one and save some money.Emily Post's Etiquette, 17th Edition (Thumb Indexed)
Fantastic.......2007-04-05
This book has all the information you need about traditions, planning, pulling it all off. Every tiny detail brides are supposed to somehow know automatically is here and is easy to find.
Much of the book is geared toward people planning very traditional weddings - which I am not. Ms. Post gives plenty of more casual examples and perfectly acceptable informal options. The information is also presented in such a way that it is easy to modify her examples to make them your own.
This is a must-have resource for any family planning a wedding!

great engagement gift.......2007-10-12
I bought this book 9 years ago for my husband on our first anniversary and it's become an enjoyable ritual to take it out every anniversary, insert a current photo and recall the events of the past year. The artwork is beautiful. I've been giving this as an engagement gift ever since!
Gorgeous!.......2007-10-02
The book is beautiful. Can't believe the price...would have paid a lot more for the quality. My husband loved it too! We just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. It's a perfect gift for any newlywed or engaged couple.
Great wedding gift!.......2007-08-24
I bought one for my sister and one for myself. It is simple and cute and takes all the hard work out of scrapbooking our anniversaries. Love it!
Great gift!.......2007-08-22
We first received this book as a wedding gift. Each year we fill in the new information. What I really like about it is that it isn't so detailed and time consuming. If you're like me, if it's going to take too much time, it just keeps getting put off until you forget the info. This isn't like that at all. It's nice & to the point.
Great find!.......2007-08-12
This was given to me as a shower gift with some beautiful pens. It's been really a nice ritual to fill it out with my husband every year and to look back and see how the story of our marriage progresses. I am giving it as a gift for the first time and an very excited to see how the recipient likes it.

Wonderful Wedding Wishbook!.......2007-09-13
From the lush pink suede front cover to the back equally lush cover it's a bride's picture book dream. There's not much nuts & bolts "how to" there, but if you want inspiration, you will find it. The weddings covered definitely fall into the platinum wedding category, so for us mere mortals with real budgets, many of the over the top extravagances are not possible. BUT the look and feel of the radically different weddings contained in the book will spark the imagination - and it will be up to the bride or brides planner to make it their own. Bottom line - wow! for brides & wedding planners.
Speaking from a florist point of view.......2007-08-30

A little on the frivolous side, but so is the wedding!.......2007-06-28
I bought this as a gift for my newly engaged sis-in-law, so she could look at all the pictures and get into the excitement of wedding planning. I wouldn't buy this for myself, but it worked as a gift : )
Awe-Inspiring Weddings & Unique Event Ideas.......2007-06-27
Cover to cover, this is an exceptional book!! The photos of these spectalular weddings are gorgeous, and the creativity and attention to detail that Colin Colin used in creating these lavish events is incredible. Each wedding is unique and personal. At the end of each wedding chapter, Colin provides the event layout and some pointers. I found this to be really helpful. While I don't have a million dollar budget, I have truly found some million dollar ideas that I can incorporate into the wedding that I am planning. And the beautiful book looks great even when it's just sitting on the coffee table!! Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone planning a wedding - either a bride, groom, or wedding planner! Thank you, Colin Cowie!
A feast for the senses..........2007-05-18
While the weddings depicted in this book are far out of most people's budget, the pictures are stunning - and the words describing the extraordinary events are even more so. This would make a beautiful coffee table book. An engaged couple is sure to be inspired - and can perhaps afford to even incorporate one or two of Cowie's ideas. Stunning.
