Confuzzled No More!.......2007-08-01
To all Kingdom Heart fans, if you have not bought the Chain of Memories game, DON'T! I began playing the game before reading the book and I have to say that the book is better than the game by a long shot.
Lots of games have turned themselves into card RPG's and they basically suck (Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter, etc). Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is one of those games. But the book series, however, has a better storyline to help carry-on the KH world and is less confusing than the game because when you continuously battle you loose the story and get confuzzled!. So if you are not into videogames or you just don't like the card-style gaming that KHCM gives you, then pick-up the book and be confused no more!!! Trust me it's better to spend $10 on the book than $5 on a used copy of the game!
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Vol. 1 gets 5 stars out of 5.
My name is Amone. Adios!
A wonderful series That Keeps Good Merit.......2007-06-09
The "Chain of Memories" series is only two volumes, but they probably make up the dissappointing, short volumes of the "Kingdom Hearts I" manga. Not only is this book a little more fleshed out, it dives deeper into the game, and doesn't exactly feel like a rush job.
The plot sounds simple. Sora, Donald, and Goofy must find Rikku and the King, who are still trapped on the other side of the World of Darkness. To do that, they must step into a castle overruled by several manipulative Members of the Organization XIII. Problem is, once they step in, they loose their memories, replaced by false ones put there by a meek girl named Namine, someone who faintly appeared in Sora's life, but by her personality, wasn't really noticed. It's a nice manga that really dives deep into Namine's thougts and feelings, and how the rebellous Axel of the Organization tries his best to keep both Sora and Namine out of harm's way.
Trust me, this manga is well worth your money, although it's labeled for All Ages, you won't see much violence. But why should there be? The humor, deep story, and funny character expressions really do this manga justice.
The Beginning of a Great Kingdom Hearts Sequel.......2007-03-21
If you've just played the Kingdom Hearts games on the Playstation console, then you probably have no idea what this manga is about. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories connects the ending of the the first Kingdom Hearts game with the beginning events in the second Kingdom Hearts game.
Now that the door has been closed (the end of the first game) Sora and his friends continue to hunt for those that they have lost. While wandering a countryside, Sora is met by a mysterious person dressed all in black. After a bit of a confrontation, the stranger tells Sora to go to Castle Oblivion, that is where he will be able to find his answers. When the gang gets to the castle, they are again confronted by another stranger (or maybe it's the same, it's hard to tell), but essentially the gang learns a little bit about the castle. As the gang travels through the castle they begin to lose memories of their times in the first game and of their friends. With the help of special "Memory Cards" the gang travels from world to world trying to find their friends, but even the friends they made in each world don't seem to be able to remember Sora, Donald, and Goofy.
Essentially that's the premise of the story, in the first book, the gang travels to Traverse Town to meet the gang from the Final Fantasy World, and they even travel to Agrabah to meet up with Aladdin and Genie.
This series does show more promise than the last set of books (though I loved the first series, they were a wee bit on the thin side for a good Manga). There's plenty of comedy, lots of action, and some great adventures, this first book even has it's own little cliffhanger ending. I just hope that this time they travel to Halloween Town, that's the one thing I wished that they would've done in the first series. Anyway, it's a great read, go out and buy it if your a KH fan or even if you're a noobie to the franchise and thinks it looks like a cute read.
KH:CoM...a funny and amusing read........2007-03-08
I must agree with the person that admitted that he was a bit disappointed with the first series' books. I was as well and so was my brother, both of us having played Kingdom Hearts all the way through more than once and knowing all the events. It was way too short and exciting things were cut from the manga. However, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories stays true to the game (from what I remember, anyway) and still makes it a fascinating read. It continues the story of Sora - the child given the awesome responsibility of wielding the legendary "Keyblade," an awesome weapon that can wrought both destruction and salvation. I have always like this series, and have played all three games. I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 2 to be turned into a manga. I hope it will just keep getting better! Oh, and, as a correction, this book's cover is not on backwards by mistake. They decided to stick with the true manga style, which is written right to left, instead of left to right like we're used to in the States. I just wanted to clear that up with the woman that gave this a one-star. Sorry if I offend anyone, but this series deserves a bit more than that.
Disappointed.......2007-02-20
Although the book itself was in excellent condition, the cover of the book was on backwards. Since I bought this to give to a child as a gift. I was disappointed when he pointed out that the cover was on backwards.

Great reading.......2007-09-06
This trilogy was a really great read. I am hoping that the 4th book will show up soon. I was really involved with the story and the characters. You will enjoy these books!
great trilagy .......2007-07-10
it was a childhood favorit and still is good for a weekend of reading. Only problem was it ended to soon.
Phenomenal.......2007-03-26
Does anyone else remember the Storybreak show that used to come on after Saturday morning cartoons in the '80's? Every week, a different book would be turned into a half-hour animated special. It was a wonderful program, and my favorite was Dragon's Blood, the first book in Jane Yolen's Pit Dragon Chronicles. So I got the books and discovered that they were vastly different from the cartoon. As much as I loved the cartoon, the books were far, far better. Amazing characters (oh, how I wanted to marry Jakkin when I was a teen!), including the dragons, an incredible world, and stories that made me gasp and cry and laugh. These are phenomenal books for all ages, something that can be read over and over. The writing is flawless and the books are simply perfect.
Great for teens.......2007-01-28
When I was a teen I would have rated this a 5. I'm older now, and my tastes have changed. Still a favorite, but not nearly as good as I remember. I still recommend it, but not as highly.
Into the Pit.......2005-09-22
Jane Yolen gave the old dragon legends a facelift in the Pit Dragon Trilogy, a trio of sci-fantasy novels set on a faraway prison planet. There's nothing fantastical or pretty about the world she creates here -- it's gritty, dusty, raw and very dangerous.
The action takes place on the planet of Austar IV, a miserable desert planet inhabited by drug-filled weeds, slave "bonders" and their masters, giant dragons, and deadly temperatures. The only real recreation is gambling on dragons who fight in the Pits.
In "Dragon's Blood," orphaned bonder Jakkin dreams of freedom, and has a secret plan to fill his bag with gold and free himself -- steal a new dragon hatchling and quietly raise it to fight in the pits. He finds an uncounted hatchling and spirits it away to the hills. But he soon learns that someone knows his secret -- the pretty Akki, an independent girl who is hiding an odd secret of her own. But even her help may not be enough to free Jakkin from slavery.
By "Heart's Blood," Jakkin has raised enough gold from Heart's Blood, and is now a free man and a dragon trainer. In theory, that is all he wants. But then he learns that Akki is in trouble, and becomes determined to save her, even though Heart's Blood has just hatched five babies. To help Akki, Jakkin will risk his life in the midst of bloodthirsty freedom fighters...
"A Sending of Dragons" is the bittersweet third volume of this trilogy. Jakkin and Akka have been physically transformed, so that they can communicate with the dragons. Now they are on the run from ordinary humans, and end up running into a lost tribe of degenerate humans, who also are bonded with their dragons... dangerously.
There aren't a lot of original dragon stories -- most are clones of Anne McCaffrey or J.R.R. Tolkien's works. Jane Yolen scratched all that, and creates an almost entirely new kind of dragon -- they're actually not the mythical creatures, but a type of alien lizards.
She also crafts an intricate political system, with terrorists and shady senators, and a dusty desert world where everyone is descended from prisoners (it resembles Australia in many ways). Akki and Jakkin are brought to life in their sensitivity and strength, and Yolen's writing brings the dragons to life. They seem almost like real creatures, animal but close to human beings.
With a fourth volume tentatively scheduled for 2006, it's about time to revisit the Pit Dragon Trilogy. For outstanding stories about dragons and the humans who train them, these books are among the best.

Fantastic........2007-08-08
All I can say is I'm a HUGE fan of the kingdom hearts series of books & games and this manga does not disappoint. A must have for every kh fanatic.
A Book Should Be Worth Buying!.......2007-07-25
I am a Kingdom Hearts Fan. I buy the games, watch the videos and read the books. I have nothing wrong with the kingdom Hearts franchise. The only problem is just the overall story in the book is different from the game.
Okay, I understand that if you play a game and then read a book about the game, you would get bored with it. But in Kingdom Hearts II Volume 1, they try to take away the magic that makes it such a great game! Like the first Kingdom Hearts book series, they try to rely on comedy to keep things fresh and new and they actually work! Not so much as in the second KH series. They try to make jokes and puns that don't work in the series.
The good thing about the book is the great work done by Shiro Amano who provided work for the first KH series as well as the "Chain of Memories" books. With a vivid imagination and asking himself "What if this world existed?" he created images that flew together and mad you look at every little detail.
I recommend that you read this series, however I suggest you read off the shelf (when you read it in the store rather than buying it). It is a waste of money for me and I believe this is the first time that they dropped the ball in the KH series.
Kingdom Hearts II: Volume 1 gets 2 stars out of 5.
My name is Amone. Adios!
Book Description
Often quoted by Chuck Swindoll, Charles Stanley, Billy Graham and other great preachers, A. W. Tozer's words are being heard and read by millions today words like: "Origin is a creature word... All things have an origin. But when you come back to God, you come back to the One who has not origin. He is the Cause of all things, the uncaused Cause. God is Transcendent." "You'll never find Him on your own... He is far away in one sense, but in another He is as near as your heartbeat, for the cross has brdiged the gulf." "If there is anything God could learn, it would mean that God didn't know it before. If he didn't know it before, then He didn't know everything, He wouldn't be perfect, and if He isn't perfect then He isn't God." The chapters of this book were originally preached as sermons at Avenue Road Church in Toronto, ON. Whether spoken or written, Tozer's words were designed to "promote personal heart religion" among God's people.
Customer Reviews:
A Must Have.......2007-06-17
I am so glad to see these two books (The Attributes of God Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) re-released to the public after having gone out of print. J.I. Packer once wrote, "Theology is for doxology", simply put; the study of God should lead us to praise Him forevermore. Few people lead us down that path as skillfully as A.W. Tozer. While I recommend all Tozer's books, these two books in particular, are vitally important in today's age where true knowledge of God seems to be disappearing at a rapid pace in favor of a "have God your own way" mentality. But the truth is this; God is (as He is and who He is) infinitely more wonderful and beautiful than we could ever have imagined Him on our own. There is no higher activity that the human mind can engage in than the study of God's character - Tozer helps us with this plus invites our hearts to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord.
Volume One contains the following chapters; God's Infinitude; God's Immensity; God's Goodness; God's Justice; God's Mercy; God's Grace; God's Omnipresence; God's Immanence; God's Holiness; and God's Perfection.
This book is not just intended to be merely read, but also to be pondered deeply upon and prayed through. You will find it time well spent as you ask the Holy Spirit to take that which belongs to the Lord and make it known to you (John 16:14).
Book Description
Daily Devotionals from the greatest praise and worship songs of all time. These are the songs that usher worshipers into the throne room of heaven. now listeners can bring each song's message into their personal quiet time with God. Each two-page devotional includes song lyrics, inspirational thoughts, selected passages of Scripture and a recommended topic for prayer.
Customer Reviews:
Love this book!!!.......2004-08-07
I've found that I get more out of this devotional then any other I've read. The devotions are short and interesting and they really make me reflect on my walk with God and I have grown a lot spiritually through the devotions in this book. The authors draw great insights from even the simplest praise choruses. Each devotion is very insightful and interesting regardless of whether I am familiar with or like the praise chorus the devotion is based on. This devotional has been very rewarding and there's lots of devotions in the book so not only is it a good thing but it also can last a long time. And it doesn't have dates written on the pages, so you can easily read it with other devotionals because its not one that has to be read every single day. The two other praise devotionals by the same publisher are excellent too but this one is my favorite!
Awesome Devotional.......2002-12-12
This devotional is unique in that it offers you not only a daily devotional guide, but a song of praise to go with it. I have found that when I use this devotional the message stays with me because of the worship songs that are included. The pages are set up so that on the left hand side is a worship song, and on the right hand side is the devotion for the day that corrolates with that song. I think you will find this devotional to be refreshing and rewarding. One that doesn't take a lot of time, but has a lasting effect.

Book Description
Akane is a charming young girl with two separate identities. Growing up as a princess in the Dainagon family, she befriends Aogi, who, as he matures, takes a position with the Inner Guards at the Imperial Palace, thus becoming unavailable to the outside world. When the long-lasting separation from her childhood chum becomes unbearable, Akane must assume a second persona, that of a servant of the Imperial Palace. But entering the gates of the castle doesn't get her any closer to Aogi, and soon, these star-crossed lovers are breaking all the rules for that sweet reunion they both crave.
Customer Reviews:
A little Starlit romance........2007-04-23
I'm not typically into romance type stories. I like a little more action and adventure but I couldn't help but love this story. The characters were intriguing and I happily followed the story of our clumsy heroine. I even noted some of her emotional growth early on which made me happy since some stories of this nature tend to drag on.
By the end of the first volume I wanted to know more and searched for the second volume.
This series is worth a look although I do find myself wondering if the company will ever release a third volume. If you don't mind waiting then I strongly suggest this series.
Sweet, not saccharine........2006-01-11
This is a love story.
It makes no attempt to be anything else. Set during the Heian Era in Japan (an era that's proving as popular for manga/anime released in the U.S. as the Warring States), it's visually accurate (especially with regard to the clothing) and the story is just complex enough to hold an older reader's attention without confusing a younger one.
The manners, customs, and behavior of the era are captured well, and the love story is--gasp!--believable! This isn't a case of unrequited love, or bad-boy-turning good/shy-victim-girl. Aogi and Akane love each other, they know it, Akane's mother knows it, her *brother* knows it. It's cultural prohibitions that are causing their obstacles.
When I said this was a love story, I meant it on several levels. While the focus is Aogi and Akane, we also see Captain Tou's protectiveness and affection for his sister, Lady Naishinokami's love and concern for her daughter, even the devotion of Akane's servant Sayo. (We even get a few great moments with the hero-worshipping assistant lieutenant Gen and the 'snobby' omnyoji who is Tou's friend, though neither will admit it.)
Good character-driven stories with strong historical settings are hard to find. Snap this one up.
Hopeless romantic? Good........2005-11-05
I happened to pick up the second volume of this manga at a scholastic book fair that was held at my school. I didn't realize that I bought volume 2 and was slightly disappointed but then after I started reading it, I found it was very easy to get into the series without actually having read the first one. I purchased volume 1 from amazon that same day.
One thing that makes this manga interesting is that Hiro Matsuba did a great deal of research before compiling ideas. The clothing designs of the Heian period and social status of the characters is very accurate which makes for a tale that's just THAT much more real-sounding.
But even more than that is the art itself. While it may not be Yuu Watase art, it's about as close as you're going to get without going overboard. It's beautiful and with the pictures you can almost feel what the characters are feeling.
The "forbidden" romance between Akane and Aogi makes for a very good story. Akane (the stereotypical clutz) and heroine of this story, has the brightest personality and seems to fit just right with Aogi. All she ever wants to do is make him happy and be with him. Although this may be demanding of him at times, it adds such a cuteness to the whole story.
I also love Hikoboshi (her cat). He may not be a main character or anything but the story would be slightly bland without him dropping a dead animal on the floor here and there. That, and he's just the most adorable thing.
So anyway, there are many cute little 'moments' in volume 1. If you're a fan of that sort of thing then I'm sure you'll love this book.
Among the Best of Manga (I'm rambling -_-;).......2005-05-15
Being a rather experienced anime/manga person myself, I have to say this manga is one of the best single manga I have ever read. I have enjoyed many different types of anime and manga, including Tenchi Muyo, Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, .Hack//sign, Inuyasha (GAHHH!!!), Wolf's Rain, FLCL, and Excel Saga. As far as one manga goes, I enjoyed "Starlight" alot becasue I didn't have to read the entire series or even any other volumes to understand whats going on or to explain the characters. As far as characters go, It's difficult for me to choose a favorite as I like nearly all of them, which is a first as in all the other series I listed above I have disliked many weak or annoying characters. Most of the characters here are interesting and fun. The plot flow was nice and kept my attention, another thing some series lack.(*cough*Wolf's Rain*cough*) If I had to pick one thing about this manga that caught me the most, it has to be the setting. I love the historical Japanese setting, more so than in Kenshin, as this has less fight scenes that get exasusting to watch after awhile. The almost dreamy atmosphere of this manga was very relaxing as right before I read this, my anime world consisted mostly of the Kenshin Legend of Kyoto box set that is wonderful, yet nerve-wrecking to watch (Kenshin vs. Aoshi) and sometimes sad. (Poor Sojiro!) I was also getting a rightly amount of Wolf's Rain, which is self-explanitory to those who know it, and completely useless to those who don't. Anyway, awesome manga, I can't wait to read the second one, and sorry for rambling on and on.... Oh, and Hikoboshi was great, and this is coming from a dog person.
the coolest!.......2005-03-12
