great for "interior decorating".......2007-07-23
This is a nice product but it wasn't what I was hoping for in the end. I wanted/need something more like a 3-ring binder to hold samples, manuals, contracts, etc. This spiral bound book will hold small amounts of tiny paint chip samples and the like but there is not enough room in the pockets for much else. If you're looking for somewhere to record the ins and outs of your interior decorating escapades, this book is for you.
Great Tool - Nice Design.......2007-01-19
I bought this book as we are building our first house this year and I wanted somewhere to record all the information regarding contractors, colours, fixtures, fittings, etc as we went along with the building process. I have to say that this book is perfect for that!
There's plenty of spaces to go through room by room recording all the information so you can really keep track of what's going in to your home. I also like the fact that after the build is over, I have places to record maintenance work done, information about the utility companies in the area, etc so I can use it as an ongoing tool and not just an organiser while the house is being built. There is also a great section for future planning towards the back.
I think what I like most about this book though is the design. It's great to look at inside, using modern designs and colours, with a useful pocket inside for bits and pieces (can't remember if there is more than one but there might be). I looked at a lot of 'homeowner' type journals (I spent a really LONG time looking) and found that this one looked the best as well as being the most practical tool for my purposes.
All in all, I think this is a great buy either for those who are building or those already in established homes.
Helps keep everything straight.......2005-08-17
This book is awesome for any busy homeowner. There are suggestions for keeping organized as you do all types of renovations--everything from from painting to dry wall to new appliances. I love having one single place to keep all our paint chips, swatches, etc. It's so much easier than a blank notebook because they have lines for everything you need to record.
You probably don't need this book........2004-07-17
I read about this book in a magazine and was eager to get it. Being a first time home buyer/owner, I really thought it would be a useful tool. When it arrived I was very disappointed. 1/3 of the book is devoted to dreams and plans for your house (I already have a notebook for that) and the rest is for writing down information about appliances, paint, repairs, etc. I returned the book and will be starting a notebook. A 3-ring binder will suffice for me. However, for an unorganized person this book might be great.

Thorough and Detailed.......2007-01-02
This is a thorough and detailed book which covers a wide range of tips that you should find useful and important in enhancing your communication skills. The book covers all the critical aspects of communication including the communication process, the need for effective, active listening, verbal, non-verbal and writing skills, being assertive, effective negotiations, effective public speaking and presentations, among others.
Most of us are poor listeners, as we tend to listen with intent to response rather than to understand what the speaker is really communicating to us. With self-control and discipline, the book gives us tips that we can follow to be effective and active listeners.
This is a self-help that is easy to read and understand and follow. It has a lot of tips and practical advice that should help you change to become a more effective communicator.
Comprehensive Compendium of 1042 Communication Tips.......2006-06-20
A comprehensive compendium of 1042 tips belonging on every committed communicator's reference shelf. Whether a neophyte or accomplished communicator, you will find a useful tip or reminder, each time you open this book.
Easy to Read.......2006-02-24
Dianna Booher writes with clarity and detail, and her book is so easy to read. We're all communicating in one way or another, and Dianna's insights are extremely valuable. You also might learn something about yourself as a listener. I highly recommend this book.
Essential for anyone.......2002-12-25
While this book has a business focus, there are many techniques shown that can be used in all facets of life - in the family, with friends, or in organizations and sports teams. It's a huge (1000+) list of tips for various situations. How do you deal with someone who's not pulling their weight? You don't have to be a manager at work - you can have unresponsive kids, friends who take much more than they give, and committee members who are just along for the ride.
All the points are obvious, but in real life we forget, communicate badly, and then make a bad situation worse. This book has the sort of information that someone gives you when they say, "In that situation I always do . . ." and you could hit yourself for not thinking of it at the time. If you read and re-read this book you'll begin to have these ideas when you need them, not afterward.
The tip formula is excellent. Too many books try to put ideas across in ordinary text and become confusing and unclear. Each tip and its supporting text is complete. You won't be left wondering what the author meant.
I teach people to make presentations and there is plenty here I intend to pass along. My order is in for Booher's forthcoming "Speak With Confidence," because if it's even half as good as this book, it will be invaluable.
One last thought. Think about the times you didn't communicate that well. Think about the stress, the bad relations with other people, and all the negative things that resulted. Now look at the price of this book. Isn't it worth that price just to communicate effectively one time, let alone all the times this book will save the day?
RIP OFF.......2002-02-18
The only thing exciting about the book is the title. I could not wait to get the book and read it. I can't remember being this disappointed in a book - ever. There is nothing of any value in this - just warmed over hyperbole. I am so po'd that I wasted money on this rip off.
Book Description
Universities can teach and demonstrate environmental principles and stewardship by taking action to understand and reduce the environmental impacts of their own activities. Greening the Ivory Tower, a motivational and how-to guide for staff, faculty, and students, offers detailed "greening" strategies for those who may have little experience with institutional change or with the latest environmentally friendly technologies.
The author was project manager of Tufts CLEAN!, a program whose mission was to reduce Tufts University's environmental impact. After analyzing the campus's overall environmental impact (each year the main campus serves 5 million meals; makes 14 million photocopies; uses 65 tons of paper towels, 110 million gallons of water, and 23 million kWh of electricity; and generates over 2,000 tons of solid waste), the team decided to focus on food waste, transportation, energy efficiency, and procurement practices. An essential discovery was that to change practices requires the personal commitment and direct involvement of those who have the responsibility for operating the institution on a daily basis. Although the Tufts experience forms the basis for many of the proposals in the book, the story goes well beyond Tufts; the author includes examples of successful practices from many other institutions.
Book Description
Around the world there are grandparents, parents, and children who can still sing ditties by Tigger or Baloo the Bear or the Seven Dwarfs. This staying power and global reach is in large part a testimony to the pizzazz of performers, songwriters, and other creative artists who worked with Walt Disney Records
Mouse Tracks: The Story of Walt Disney Records chronicles for the first time the fifty-year history of the Disney recording companies launched by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney in the mid-1950s, when Disneyland Park, Davy Crockett, and the Mickey Mouse Club were taking the world by storm. The book provides a perspective on all-time Disney favorites and features anecdotes, reminiscences, and biographies of the artists who brought Disney magic to audio.
Authors Tim Hollis and Greg Ehrbar go behind the scenes at the Walt Disney Studios and discover that in the early days Walt Disney and Roy Disney resisted going into the record business before the success of "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" ignited the in-house label. Along the way, the book traces the recording adventures of such Disney favorites as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Cinderella, Bambi, Jiminy Cricket, Winnie the Pooh, and even Walt Disney himself. Mouse Tracks reveals the struggles, major successes, and occasional misfires. Included are impressions and details of teen-pop princesses Annette Funicello and Hayley Mills, the Mary Poppins phenomenon, a Disney-style "British invasion," and a low period when sagging sales forced Walt Disney to suggest closing the division down.
Complementing each chapter are brief performer biographies, reproductions of album covers and art, and facsimilies of related promotional material. Mouse Tracks is a collector's bonanza of information on this little-analyzed side of the Disney empire.

The stars shine........2007-06-12
This book tells the story of Walt Disney Records, formerly known as Disneyland Records and Buena Vista Records. The record company is one aspect of the Disney empire that hasn't been extensively covered before, so there is a lot of information here that you probably haven't read before. The book does a very good job of telling the record company's story, giving credit to some talented people who deserve to be remembered. Disney fans should read this book.
Memory Lane.......2007-03-16
This book definetly brings back childhood memories for me.
I used to have a collection of Disneyland book and records.Plus I always wondered what Robie Lester and Lois Lane actually looked like.(And why they each had their own version of Tinker Bell's little bells.)
A must for any nostalgia buff!
A bit sparse on specific information--but still a good read for Disney aficionadoes.......2007-02-26
The recording end of Walt Disney Productions hasn't really been given the short shrift--in 1997, R. Michael Murray put together a wonderful pricing guide for Disneyland and Buena Vista's musical output that fills in a lot of gaps left behind here. Still, authors Tim Hollis and Greg Ehrbar do a fine job at bringing forth the personalities and histories of many Disney singers who weren't usually credited on record labels, and these talents are worth re-discovering. Some of the basic information regarding certain albums is treated too blithely (and often, a description or detail seems wrong, as when they say Annette's first solo album was on the Disneyland label...it was if you count "Songs from Annette & The Walt Disney Serials", which wasn't an Annette album per se). And too often the authors write off an album's success by saying "million of copies were sold". How many millions? Did the record chart in Billboard? Did it spawn any singles? Apparently, 45rpm singles were the bane of the early recording industry, and the authors pretty much dismiss their importance; however, that doesn't excuse the omittance of chart information, even on some of the more popular titles. Did any of Annette's albums chart, and, if not, what kept the Disney brass interested in her as an albums artist? There is wonderful background information on unsung heroes such as Bob Grabeau, Teri York, Robie Lester and Ginny Tyler, but the writers couldn't come up with ANYthing substantial on the Sylte Sisters or the Vonnair Sisters? The early Disney recordings via the Hansen label, 78rpm artists like William Lava, the 'Zorro' records and 'The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh', are almost completely forgotten, which makes this NOT the definitive book on the subject. It's a nice beginning, how about a second volume?
Mouse Tracks.......2006-11-03
This book was as I expected and brings back memories when I used to sell this product in my country and even had the many picture disc LPs issued with soundtracks from the Disney animated features like Snow White. I always like good books about record labels and their product. An unhappy experience was visiting the plant near Disney in Burbank where the records were produced/pressed. The plant was old and interesting but work contracted to them I placed never got done and money lost in 1978-79 and the lies from them and their lawyer were unbelieveable.
AN E-TICKET FOR DISNEY MUSIC!.......2006-10-10
Book Review-MOUSE TRACKS-The Story of Walt Disney Records by Tim Holllis and Greg Ehrbar
When I first started reading this book, it was very difficult putting it down for a second and in two days I read the whole book. I was very hungry for information and stories behind those wonderful Disneyland/Vista Records I grew up on and have in my collection. Tim and Greg went all out and did a great job to salute all of the artists, composers and people who have made Walt Disney Records the most successful music label for family entertainment. Now, after reading this book, my appreciation for my Disney LPs has grown stronger than ever.
I won't give away any details because you have to read this book yourself but I will say that many of my favorite Disneyland albums are mentioned including the multi-platinum classic, MICKEY MOUSE DISCO, the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Best selling soundtrack of MARY POPPINS, those magnificent Storytellers and many more. Also, read about the superstars of Disneyland Records: the narrators and singers such as Robie Lester, Lois Lane, Annette, Fess Parker, and so many other talented people and creative staff.
I strongly recommend this book to fans and collectors of Disney LPs such as myself and Disney fans worldwide. It's an ultimate E-Ticket Ride for Disney Music!
Book Description
Steve Ovett and Sebastian Coe presided over the golden era of British athletics. Between them they won three Olympic gold medals, two silvers, one bronze, and broke a total of twelve middle-distance records. As far apart as possible in terms of class and upbringing, their rivalry burned as intense on the track as away from it. The pendulum swung between the pair of them—each breaking the other's records, and, memorably, triumphing in each other's events in Moscow in 1980. The Perfect Distance is both a detailed re-creation and a fitting celebration of the greatest era of British athletics.

The Best Rivalry (ever?).......2007-05-17
Excellent book for anyone who followed track in the 70s and 80s.
Lots of light shed on what may have been the most significant and consistent rivalry on the oval. The backgrounds of both runners are very revealing; Coe's training routines, while widely discussed, were revolutionary. Meanwhile, Ovett is shown as an agressive and confident runner, and nothing like the arrogant antagonist that the media portrayed. Additionally, he was immersed in the science of footwear and helping develop better products for runners. Why he never got the acclaim he deserved is a mystery.
A great read for those who have been there.
Deep Biography of Coe and Ovett at the Height of Britain's Middle D.......2006-09-16
This is a very detailed and rich biography not only of Ovett and Coe but of history of the mile particularly from the British view point. As the author notes, the emergency of Ovett and Coe strides right into British middle distance runners dominating the world scene in the late 70s and early 80s with Cram, Elliott and Moorcroft. The Ovett and Coe duo are so different in racing styles, personalities and family life as Ovett emerges from blue collar roots with a very strong guarded mother and wonderful grand parents while Coe comes from a more upper class conservative family coached by an efficient and strong willed father. Butcher captures both athlete's abilities in detail with Ovett's amazing ability to run the sprints and high jump at early age to running events aside from 800 and 1500 to the 5K ,cross country and even jumping into a half marathon. Coe develops slightly slower but run as if a greyhound taking the pace to avoid contact with his 119 pounds particularly dominating the 800 while he and Ovett trade the 1500 and mile back and forth. The differences in mental and emotional make up between the two men is captured well in an excellent photograph of the two after a surprise loss to a relative unknown in a championship 800 where Coe literally looks crushed while Ovett has dangled his arm around Coe while looking off with chin up as in "well another day". The comparison between the Hagg and Anderson (includes interviews) and Ovett and Coe are well done as Ovett and Coe dominates the English sports news. Americans may require a little more patience as the author does discuss the world's best milers that include Walker, Bayi, Wessingham along with the US's Scott and Maree but the focus is on the English with running clubs and their depth of great runners at that time. Also, unlike Coorder Nelson's great book on Jim Ryan, this book has more depth into the history of middle distance running and the athletes' personal lives. Amusing that the author identifies Kenny Moore as an excellent writer but identifies him as a fourth place marathoner at the Montreal games when it was actually at Munich and he confuses the details of the New York and Boston Marathon's of Rosy Ruiz into one race. The book also contains some interesting British humor and phrases. I wish there was a more detail on the races in Moscow particularly the 1500 as Coe steals one from Ovett to avenge his 800 upset. It is quite tragic that Ovett became so ill at the LA Olympics that he became hospitalized but continued to compete and make he finals in both the 800 and 1500. He literally looks like death going into the last lap of the 1500. And Coe comes back from devastating illness to get in world class shape after being written off to be the only man to win successive Olympic 1500 titles. This was a glorious time for Track & Field when these two men from the same country seesawed world records back and forth almost weekly.
As the author notes, these two were such amazing competitors even the Falkland Islands were bumped in Britian foir the news of what Coe and Ovett did the night before.
Owett and Coe.......2006-07-13
Very good book, well written, not boring at all, interesting information not only about the lifes of the two runners subject of the book but also of the sport of running in general those days in Europe. I am a "serious" runner a serious reader and also a writer myself. As such, I collect all sorts of books about running. Many are forgetable, this is not the top of the line but very good and worth reading
The Race of Their Lives.......2006-06-05
Mr. Butcher has produced an outstanding book. All great books start with a great story and this a great story. This rivalry began in the mid '70's and carried through to the '84 LA Olympics. Mr. Butcher has a runner's knowledge of the sport and a writer's command of the language. This book was meticulously researched , many of the principles have participated in the telling of this tale. The "British" slang is sometimes is difficult to follow but does not detract from the telling of the story. I like the fact that Mr. Butcher does not hesitate to share his opinions. This is a GREAT READ for any track fan.
On the mark ... get set, go.......2004-08-07
The Perfect Distance is an extremely fascinating look at one of the most intriguing athletic rivalries of the last generation. In the early 1980s, the drama represented by the races -- both real and virtual -- between Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett were on par with the more or less contemporary rivalries between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, between Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier, between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe.
As author Pat Butcher -- a fair middle distance runner in his own right -- points out, as with all great rivalries, the battles between Mr. Coe and Mr. Ovett attracted attention as much because of the athletes' personalities as because of their prodigious talents. Mr. Coe -- now Lord Coe -- was the refined and cultured middle class boy, compared to Mr. Ovett, the muscular and brash son of market trader.
Based on his world record for 800 meters that lasted for an amazing 16 years and his successful defense of his 1500-meter title at the Los Angeles Olympics, Mr. Coe was probably the most successful of the two. But such comparisons are really not relevant with a rivalry like this one. These two men traded world records -- some of which stood for mere hours before the other crushed them half a continent away -- in a way that entranced any sports fan in the early 1980s. Each won the other's specialty at the Moscow Olympics in 1980, and Mr. Ovett once won 45 races in a row over nearly three years, a record unlikely to ever be duplicated at the highest level.
As a high school and university-level middle distance runner at that time, the battles between these two great athletes had no small influence on me, which is why I decided to buy this book the moment I saw it. But the thing that pushes this volume over the top is the way Mr. Butcher interprets the men's dominance.
Why has the drama of the middle distance never approached the pitch it had during Mr. Coe and Mr. Ovett's best years? Mr. Butcher points the finger at the two champions themselves.
As someone who closely followed the sport 20 or more years ago, I was amazed to find that Messrs. Coe and Ovett raced each other only seven times in the 15-year span during which they were both active, and four of those were in Olympic finals. In addition to avoiding serious competition outside the biggest of races, they pioneered the use of professional pacemakers in world record attempts, a still-used strategy that harvested them a combined 17 world records but also turned the middle distances into a mechanical and predictable exercise that has virtually eliminated serious competition outside of the world championships and the Olympics.
In the end, The Perfect Distance forced me to reconsider my romanticized view of the careers of these two great champions, which is in itself significant. It is an original effort, compellingly written, with an insider's understanding of the sport. And yet it remains accessible to the casual sports fan looking for some insights into what might be the most thrilling era in track and field since Roger Bannister and John Landy chased the magical four-minute-mile a generation earlier. Very nice.

Hard to remember things.......2005-12-10
After having my first child, I have found that I can't remember what time my baby woke up or went to sleep or ate etc. This book/log helps me keep track of important things, like especially when baby isn't feeling good, diahrea or when doses of tylenol were given. It was most helpful the first 4 months when I wasn't getting much sleep and not able to remember much of anything. Before the book, I found myself trying to keep track in a notebook, but it was to messy and confusing. With this book, others helping to take care of baby can look at it and instantly know what is going on.
Tremendous Help !.......2004-12-10
Before I had a baby, I had always thought of myself as a capable person. Normally confident, I couldn't imagine how I would care for my newborn daughter. I found that Baby, It's All About You helped tremendously! As I became more comfortable with caregiving (feeding, diapering, bathing etc.) I found that I regained my self-confidence, and as a result, I was a lot less overwhelmed! This book is so simple to use, I highly recommend it for every new parent.

In this book, Callie must come to terms with her stalker. Carole is finally back at Pine Hollow, and wants Max to take on two new horses. Lisa's mother refuses to believe her when she says she's seeing Scott, and Lisa must also deal with feelings of jealousy when Scott lets his attention be monopolized when they are out on dates. Lisa must also find some way to persuade her mother to stay in Virginia, at least until she graduates.

GREAT BOOK!!!!!.......2003-04-22
I loved this book and all the others in the series so far! i think this book was really good because 1) George i knew was a stalker and im glad he finally got cought 4 it 2) i new cam was a fake and that carole should really be wit ben, even if he is annoying sometimes u can tell he really cares about her and 3) stevie really needed something new to keep that mind of hers occupied! i started reading the saddle club in like 4th grade and read up to #89 twice. i started the pine hallow series when it first came out but i was too young and there were only 4 books at the time. now i started the series again since im older and i just can't stop reading them! too bad there aren't as many of these books as there are of the saddle club! i hope ms. bryant keeps writing more of the saddle club books tho so that it will catch up to the begining of the pine hallow series. these books are great for older horse lovin girls! don't get discouraged by the first few books because horses become more involved as you go on! i hope u enjoy them as much as i did!
...definately not the style of the rest...........2002-10-12
I have all 17 Pine Hollow series books, and I have to say that this book (#16) is my absolute favorite. I really revolves around Callie and her problems with George. Most of the other Pine Hollow series is about horses, or shows, or boyfriends - but I found this one the most enjoyable to read because it really brings a new light to Callie's character. Makes her seem real in how George is haunting her. It still has plenty of horse things in there (about Stevie training for eventing - instead of her longtime favorite, Dressage) and Lisa and Scotts relationship - even a little bit of Ben and Carole. The only downfall is this is the second to last book in the series - but it's the best one of them all!
Track Record (Pine Hollow 16).......2002-05-04
Track Record was a very well written book with a lot of differant areas to keep the reader interested.
Although the novel was mostly written around Callie and her problems with George, you got to read about how Stevie has decided to improve her dressage and compete in cross country and how Lisa and Scott might get together.
Although the novel was well written the conclusion left the reader in suspence, wondering what was going to happen to George and what Scott did to have bandaged knuckles when he walked out from the stable after finding Callie.
But all in all this was a fantastic novel and I can't wait until the next book comes to Australia so I can see what happens next.
