Book Description
While most books focus solely on the role of cholesterol in heart disease, Reverse Heart Disease Now draws on new research that points to the surprising other causes. Two leading cardiologists draw on their collective fifty years of clinical cardiology research to show you how to combine the benefits of modern medicine, over-the-counter vitamins and supplements, and simple lifestyle changes to have a healthy heart.

Amazon Super Saver shipping takes a long time..........2007-09-28
An excellent book if you are interested in being proactive about heart health. Plenty of information regarding the use of supplements for heart disease. Definitely worth the read.
A patient's review.......2007-05-15
THIS BOOK SHOULD BE REQUIRED READING FOR EVERY PRACTICING CARDIOLOGIST IN THE AMA. IT JUST MIGHT EXTEND THE HEALTHFUL LIVES OF A FEW MILLION PEOPLE.
Optimistic assessment for heart patients, but some info overload too........2007-04-11
In the final chapter of the book, the authors set out what they call the "four pillars of healing." These are:
1. A healthy diet to help you achieve a healthy body weight.
2. Appropriate over-the-counter supplements and prescription medications for your condition.
3. Exercise.
4. Use of mind/body techniques to control unhealthy moods, attitudes, and behaviors.
The main text of the book, however, does not give equal emphasis to these four "pillars." The authors use 2 chapters and 71 pages to discuss over-the-counter supplements. They discuss prescription medications in one 17 page chapter. They discuss diet in an 11 page chapter. They discuss exercise in one short 5 page chapter. They discuss stress management in one 10 page chapter. Supplements get much more coverage than all other treatments combined. The authors acknowledge that heart disease (plaque build up in your arteries) is a lifestyle disease (p.217). They recommend lifestyle changes, but the overwhelming impression you get from the book is that over-the-counter supplements are the most essential treatment for heart disease/plaque build up in your arteries.
The authors are so enamoured with supplements, that they give you a full regimen with estimated costs. They estimate the cost to follow their supplement recommendations at from $100 to $500 a month. You will take a handful of pills daily if you follow their supplement recommendations. For many, this prospect may be just as unappealing as taking a handful of prescription medications.
One major weakness in the book is that the authors don't provide any footnote references in their text. They provide an extensive list of books and articles at the end of the book, but there is no realistic way to see whether these actually support the many claims of the authors throughout the book.
The authors also describe a surprising number of obscure techniques for testing for heart disease - many of which your doctor will never have heard of and won't know how to interpret. Given the pervasiveness of heart disease in our society, we don't need more sophisticated testing techniques. Just assume that you need to act to prevent or treat it. The most effective techniques for preventing and treating heart disease are lifestyle changes that we should all adopt anyway.
The authors claim to practice integrative medicine. I was still surprised to see that they have a 9-page chapter in which they support the use of intravenous and oral chelation therapy. And yet they also at times recommend bypass surgery and angioplasty. I was not surprised that neither surgery nor chelation made it onto their "four pillars" list. Yet, for these authors, integrative medicine seems to mean that "anything goes."
Throughout the book the authors rely heavily on their own clinical experience in treating heart patients. They discuss success stories with patients who had even very severe problems. The authors are refreshingly optimistic that even severely afflicted heart patients can achieve symptom relief and a fairly normal life. That is certainly one of the valuable messages of this book.
This book provides a lot of interesting information about a whole lot of methods for diagnosing and treating heart disease. Notwithstanding the usefulness of the "four pillars," the book is weak in describing a plan of action for you. Too much emphasis is placed on over-the-counter supplements. We know heart disease is treatable, but there is no magic bullet treatment. Give yourself the best chance by also incorporating ALL of the other "pillars" into your prevention or treatment program.
Must Read.......2007-04-10
Everyone should read this book. It contains valuable information whether you have heart disease or just want to try and prevent it.
Up to date and useful.......2007-04-01
This accurate and up-to-date book presents useful information on heart disease in easy to understand language.
Book Description
How do I decide what to do with my life when there are so many things I want to do?
It is conventional wisdom that there is one true path in life for each of us. But what about those with a wide array of interests, a dynamic curiosity about the world, and an ever-renewing wellspring of passions? Margaret Lobenstine calls these people “Renaissance Souls,” and in this groundbreaking book, she offers a life-planning strategy in tune with their dynamic, change-loving personalities. Renaissance Souls often get stuck, moving from entry-level job to entry-level job, degree to degree, or hobby to hobby, unwilling to settle on just one thing to do “for the rest of my life.” Or, after achieving success in one field, they yearn for new challenges and begin looking around for something different. Yet they are also afraid that if they pursue their changing interests, they will have to give up on financial security, becoming “a jack of all trades and master of none.”
The Renaissance Soul, the first book devoted to this personality type, not only shows that it’s possible to design a successful, vibrant life built on multiple passions, but also gives readers the practical advice to do so. Lobenstine arms the reader with powerful life-design strategies, including how to:
*Understand the exciting and powerful difference between choice and focus
*Transform your day job so that it carries your dreams forward
*Manage your time the Renaissance Soul way
*Thrive on many interests without feeling scattered
*Get paid for your passions
*Learn a new field without going back to school
*Get inspired by Renaissance Souls from ancient times to the present, from Leonardo da Vinci to Ben Franklin to Oprah Winfrey
Stocked with creative exercises, relevant resources, and interviews with successful Renaissance Souls, this profoundly inspiring guide will show readers the way to a richer, more fulfilling life—big enough to embrace all their dreams.
Customer Reviews:
Very validating and helpful, too!.......2007-03-23
I consider myself the very model of a Renaissance Soul: I love to read about lots of subjects; I used to garden quite fanatically; I'm in a knitting/crocheting phase right now; music is a big part of my life; and I've been doing agility and other training with our dog. Oh, and I have a day job, too! My answer to "what do you want to be when you grow up" changed so often when I was younger that it made my head spin! So I was hoping this book would help me sort out how to feel fulfilled and yet not too diluted pursuing my many interests.
And indeed it did. Here are just a few helpful tidbits I took from the book: You do have to choose a few interests at any given time, based on the things you value most, but those choices don't have to be forever. You should quit doing things that don't fit with the values you hold most dear. You can combine interests (for example, I like to write and cook -- maybe I should write about food?). You need to block time for your interests, but not be inflexible about which interest you pursue at a given time. There are lots of creative ways to get where you want to go, even if you pursue many different careers over time, without starting at Square One each time.
And so much of what the author said validated the way I approach life, even toward the end helping me understand why I sometimes feel unmotivated to do anything at all.
My only complaint is that the book starts to sound branded or jargony, with its Renaissance Soul Way and Focus Points Notebook -- kind of like the Chicken Soup series or the Finish Rich series. This Renaissance Soul finds that stuff kind of annoying. But the content was so rich and sensible that the annoyance was minor. This book has really gotten me thinking about what I need to do to more fully enjoy my many interests.
Wow! .......2007-01-09
This book helped me to understand myself so much better. Some parts of me that others and even myself had considered negative attributes, turn out to be good things. The Focal Points part was especially helpful, helping me to take the 3 zillion things I'm interested in down to 5 to concentrate on. I have have had a little sign on my refrigerator for years that says, " Not all who wander are lost." This book helped me feel very validated and feel better about myself. I'm very thankful to the author, Margaret Lobenstine. Thank you so much.
Great book.......2006-11-09
Finally seeing in writing what has been spinning around in my head for years has been wonderful. It has helped me realize there is nothing "wrong" with me - I just think and do things differently than other people. I love the fact that I am constantly looking for new and different things to do and think about. This book has helped me realize that I do need to learn how to focus my energy on a few things and not get overwhelmed by all the opportunities around me.
Perfect!!!! Just what I needed!.......2006-10-18
I have spent quite some time trying to decide on one "forever" career and pick between my numerous intrests and hobbies becasue I just didn't have time for them all. I have read several standard time management books, and set up SMART goals and five year plans, only to change my mind or be unable to follow through till the end, mostly because I either lost interest or couldn't imagine doing this thing or that "forever." The last few months I have been unable to do much of anything; I have finally earned my Master's and have tons of new-found spare time, but couldn't decide what to fill it with, mostly because there were so many interesting things to fill it with! So I had been stuck in indecision and been extremely "unproductive." Then I found this book!!! This book has been helpful in so many ways, none the least because I finally know there isn't anything wrong with me! There are plenty of others like me who have so many interests that we just don't know where to begin. If this sounds like you, I would highly reccommend this book. Everything else I have to say has been covered by other reviewers, but I do want to add that after figuring out my focal points, I have been able to come up with much more creative and enjoyable ways of meeting my goals then I ever did trying to make everything a SMART goal. Enjoy- I did!
Like looking in a mirror.......2006-09-24
Anyone who has three books going at the same time, who hates the thought of constraining him- or herself to just one "thing," or who gets swallowed up for hours in a bookstore will find themselves in this book.
Lobenstine does an excellent job of describing the "renaissance" personality and helping people who fall in this category to accept and embrace their "diagnosis." She offers concrete ways of working with -- instead of against -- our personality traits.
I love feeling like I'm not alone, and I appreciated some of the concrete suggestions, but I finished this book feeling a little lost as to what my next steps should be. How do I select my four (or five) focal areas when it's nearly impossible for me to choose ANYTHING? I would have appreciated a more structured approach to winnowing -- rather than narrowing -- my choices.
Overall, though, full of tons of great inspiration, if a little light on the practical side.

Great Advice!.......2007-09-06
This is GREAT BOOK! Another new bestseller which I love and recommend - How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You
'Love' in quotes........2007-09-04
For any woman, or for that matter man, who has experienced personally or vicariously the agony of being held in thrall to painful relationships, this book is essential. The author presents numerous examples from her clinical practice of women whose lives have spiraled into painful despair, and while our familiarity with what we read can encourage us, the author's unflinching look into every woman's complicity is not for the faint of heart. This is not 'love' but degrading self-torture. I urge you, if you are such a woman, if you know such a woman, get this book and get reading.
Insightful.......2007-08-07
When this book first came out I read it and it opened my eyes. I then went into private and group therapy for about 4months and then just group therapy for being an adult child of an alcoholic. It was something I wished I had done earlier. The cost of therapy after my covrage changed and new responsibilites ended my therapy after around 7 months. I had a great therapist. The author really explains the dynamics of how our relationships develop very well. I've read both of her books. In the second one " Letter's from Women Who Love Too Much" ( it also includes letters from men)she points out how peer therapy seems the most effective form of therapy for such issues. She had stopped doing private therapy at that point. A worthwhile book.
Thank you, thank you...........2007-08-04
I have to honestly say, when it comes to this book, it is like the Bible in my life on relationships. I was sexually abused as a teen and my mother was an alcoholic/drug abuser, and my father was a philanderer, resulting in my parents' divorce when I was 11. I loved my father dearly but it seemed as I got into adulthood I would seek out partners, subconsiously, who were like my father, resulting in immense pain for me. I am the oldest of my parents' 3 children so you can imagine how much responsibility was on me when my mother was absent. I have had this book for 5 years now and it has helped me to gain strength to become emotionally free of my ex, who hurt me repeatedly over the years because without realizing it, I LET him. I have recently let go of a narcissist who deeply wounded me after I found out about his lies, manipulation, and cheating. I have learned, though this book, that I have to love myself more and recognize the self-defeating behaviors I displayed that allowed these men to hurt me. I would rather be alone and wait patiently for the right man to love me in the manner I deserved to be loved, than to put up with unacceptable behavior from emotionally disturbed men. I realized that I needed to change in order to stop the pain, not them. Self absorbed, selfish men are incaple of change because they are incapable of empathy, remorse, or even love. Thank you, thank you Robin for writing such a inspirational, helpful book!
A Great discovery.......2007-07-30
This book leads the reader to discover how unhealthy some behavioral patterns are and also the way they can be change.

I love Mrs. Kimberla Lawson Roby for bringing Rev. Curtis into her books. We all have a Rev. Curtis in our churches.
Curtis, Curtis, Curtis.......2007-06-20
Great book. I enjoyed reading about Curtis and his drama. The fact that he's the preacher of the church and acts like this is just a shame and it definitely makes you think. Great writing. I am interesting in reading more from Kimberla.

Book Description
Adam and Eve, God's covenant with Abraham, the deportation of Judah and their eventual return to Jerusalem--these are the Old Testament stories most people remember, and for good reason. According to veteran Old Testament professor Victor Matthews, these stories are essential to the identity of Israel as God's people. Matthews identifies eight landmark stories that not only shaped Israelite identity but also continued to echo throughout the Old Testament as Israel grew into its role as the people of God. He examines the stories in detail, showing how they provide a foundation for later Old Testament stories and events. Helpful sidebars, a glossary, indexes, and a selected bibliography provide readers with tools for further exploration. This book will be of interest to serious lay readers, Bible students, and church leaders.

Remembering the Cross!.......2007-01-12
Somehow along the way in wanting to "appeal" to everyone and not wanting to offend anyone we forgot the words "sin" and "cross". John brings back what we have been missing.

The book is written in logical format and the material is very inspireing. I have never worn a Cross around my neck I am now in the market to by one.
Provides concrete Bible-based steps for Christian living.......2001-05-19
With On A Hill Too Far Away: Putting The Cross Back Into The Center Of Our Lives, John Fischer explores the centrality of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ to the Christian faith. Drawing upon the image of a 15-foot cross bolted front and center inside a Connecticut church, Fischer provides concrete Bible-based steps for Christian living. Other very highly recommended Fischer titles for a Christian readership include Ashes On The Wind; Saint Ben; The Saints' And Angels' Song; 12 Steps For The Recovering Pharisee; and True Believers Don't Ask Why.

Fine reading entertainment.......2007-09-17
It's been a few months since I read this book, but I remember it fondly. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I was pleasantly surprised by her deft handling of character and plot. She really got everything she could emotionally out of the situation, and I agree with other reviewers who said that the sexual tension was built up deliciously, and handled well. I was pleased with the overall quality, and will likely make it a part of my book collection. I'm considering looking up other efforts by this author on the strength of this outing.
Great Book!.......2007-08-07
Book came fast and really was a great read! The first Georgia Beers book that i have read, though wont be the last!
Beers All Around.......2007-06-29
I really liked this novel! I had never read a Georgia Beers novel before but this won't be the last. She built her character profiles slowly and subtly allowing us become intimate with the characters. She built her romance in the same way allowing us to feel what the characters felt. Although sex was not the driving force of the novel, there were a few (enough to make it interesting) smoldering "page turners." I read it in one sitting. I literally didn't want to put it down. I think a sequel with Gretchen and Kylie would be interesting with some relationship conflicts to see how the couple weathers the storm.
Everyday Love Issues.......2007-05-10
A woman falls in love with her boss, a high-powered executive whose fear of commitment has previously kept her from truly loving anyone.
Groundbreaking Material.......2007-04-05
One reason this book succeeds is that the protagonists are so unique. Gretchen Kaiser, a successful executive in her forties, has not resolved her childhood issue that her father refused to acknowledge even her most basic need for recognition. As a result she is driven to ever higher levels of achievement while a loving relationship eludes her. Seemingly incapable of giving or receiving love, she routinely engages in casual sex with an endless string of women.
Kylie O'Brien is intelligent and compassionate. She is an attractive woman of thirty-seven who lives alone and has been celibate since the end of her last relationship over a year ago. She enjoys the company of her loving family and is prepared to continue her life alone if the right person doesn't come into her life.
When the two women meet and feel an immediate and intense attraction to each other, they struggle to deny it, then to avoid acting on it. But tragedy and necessity draw them closer together, until their personal issues can no longer be ignored. As the story unfolds, it becomes a heart-warming tale of the journey of two women toward personal growth. This book is sure to be remembered as a "first" in lesbian literature.
Book Description
Threatened with a rare and life-threatening cancer, a scientist works with his doctors to make decisions in the face of uncertainty
After patients are diagnosed with a dread disease, they learn two daunting facts: (1) that no doctor has all the answers, and (2) that there are no answers, only odds. For the patients (and their families) who want to be involved in the key choices regarding treatment, Stephen Schneider is the ideal guide. A climate scientist, his life's work is decision making in the face of great uncertainty. This important book is both his own gripping story of working with his doctors to get the best care possible, and also a brilliant critique of the flawed system under which most doctors must now practice.
The vital, even life-saving lessons of the book include: advice on obtaining and interpreting odds; how to seek better treatments that may not fit the usual "standard of care;" ways to get treated as a unique individual and not the mythical Average Patient; how to recognize the decisions that you rather than the doctors must make; and, most important, how to build a partnership with a sometimes reluctant doctor.
"Both I and my wife [a cancer survivor] find your book terrific. In many ways, it is without precedent." -Gary Schoolnik, M.D., Professor of Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Immunology, Stanford University School of Medicine
Customer Reviews:
This book is a lifesaver.......2007-10-18
My husband is ill with lymphoma and leukemia, and I read everything I can get my hands on about the illnesses and the medical system. This book is the best I have read for helping you deal effectively with your own experiences and to make the best decisions about doctor, diagnoses, and treatments. The decision-making section is especially helpful, because it points to what information patients and their advocates need, in order to work with the doctors to select treatment protocols that truly fit the needs of the patient.
A useful, special case.......2007-08-16
Clearly, Schneider is not an ordinary patient to begin with, so his is a special case. Nevertheless, there is plenty of good stuff to think about and much good advice given. You can't do it his way, but he can point you in helpful directions.
I enjoyed reading it and learned from it.
One Man's Journey.......2007-05-14
I sent this book to a friend when he was diagnosed with squamous cell. He did not like it. He said it was very specific to that particular patient. To be fair, he only gave it 50 pages.
An Amazing Story.......2007-02-23
Most of us at one time or another will have to navigate the medical system that is more concerned with making money than health care. The author shows you have to be on your toes, learn as much as you can, and be able to challenge the doctor. For your own health, read this book.
If you doctor doesn't like you questioning, better to find one who doesn't mind before the need is urgent. I've found that if you challenge and question your hired talent, they will do a better job. In this context, questioning the doctor may get him to say "no- you can't do that, but why don't we try this instead?"
It always helps to be an intelligent consumer. Even if you aren't treated as well as the author was as a male, a Stanford professor and a PhD, you'll still get better care than if you are passive and let the doctor make all the decisions.
The Patient From Hell.......2007-02-12
Not well written, I flipped past pages of dialog, opinion , politics
(global warminng?) cutsey remarks and lots of attitude to find nuggest of facts. We all cheer his successful treatment, no doubt about that, but thanks to modern science, certain facts in his experience are already out-of-date and no longer in use. My oncologist listens to me and all options are on the table. Why Mr Schneider needs cudos or takes credit for changing procedures at Stanford University Teaching Hospital by simply talking to his oncologist is beyond me. Since I had purchased the book, I wrote a book review in the cover and donated it to the bookcart at the cancer center where I am treated. O.K. reading.

Excellent source in assisting in recovery .......2007-05-25
I have read women who love too much and am currently in recovery and that book along with this one that I just purchased has had an amazing impact on my life. It is truly a blessing that this material is available to women.
I'm sure its not as corny as it seemed to me, meditating on this.......2005-07-05
I loved the original book (I also reviewed it) and I needed so much help to get out of "love too much" pattern with my ex husband. So I got this book. Daily meditations are indeed in line with all learned in the book, they are sort of daily reminders of all the little things we did wrong and all the things we need to change about US, but actually meditating on these, reading one per day seemed so corny. So I flipped thru it randomly and read several at one time until I would get tired, and then come back to it some other time. It might have worked better if I used it as prescribed, but I was too screwed up at the time. Unfortunately. For closing, here is one of my favorites: "We are certain that if we show someone how much we love him, no matter how he treats us, he will change. What we are really showing him is that it is safe for him to remain the same". Boy, was I champion of this particular mistake!
Highly recommended.......2003-08-09
I've given/recommended this book to several off my friends and family members. It's genuinely helpful and doesn't toss in the clinical bullcrap that comes along with "selfhelp" books.
Co-dependent no more.......2001-11-07
A very painful divorce and a subsequent tumultuous relationship forced me to face issues I had never faced from my childhood. I read book after book and there were many that helped to uncover what was underneath the behaviors I had developed. But of all the books, I consider this meditation book for Women Who Love Too Much to be my handbook for survival and true change. Whenever I feel myself slipping, I pick up the book and read it from cover to cover. I have many pages dog-eared that are particularly appropriate. I can't recommend it enough.
Fantastic.......2001-06-06
I loved reading this book daily. Some meditations did not "really apply" for my situation but they made me think. It made me realize a lot of things, and I even used some thoughts as quotes that I sent to friends via email. I must say that it is a little book with a lot of wisdom.

THIS COLLECTION IS BUT A HINT OF THE MAN'S GENIUS.......2007-09-02
I grew up listening to Tom Lehrer's records (played on our Victrola). And, although I wasn't worldly enough to understand some of the more perverse lyrics, my sister and I would belt out his songs with great enthusiasm. The fact that, as a kindergartner, I stood up and sang one of his compositions during "show and tell" is a testimony to...uh...something...I'm not quite sure. However, I clearly remember my mother's horror at being called by my teacher about the content of my presentation. Years later we could both laugh. Thank God Mrs. Ernstein had a good sense of humor. Thank God too that CPS was not in existence in the early 60s.
My point? Mr/Dr (never was sure of his academic title) Lehrer's ability to put into song politically incorrect "We don't talk about it" issues made me a fan for life. My own children have gotten a healthy dose of his humor, and compare him to Weird Al and others of their generation. Weird Al has a long way to go before he can hope to eclipse the senator of sarcasm.
So, for those of you with a bit of a twisted sense of humor (and the ability to read music/play the piano), this is a great piece of musical history, psycho sing-along material, and a chance to keep one man's sense of the ridiculous alive.
P.S. I was never called by any teacher regarding the contents of my children's musical presentations. Live and learn.
Loads of fun.......2007-03-14
Hilarious and dark songs by the master of musical gallows humor. The song choices are extensive and well picked. Only complaint is that Lobachevsky and New Math don't have chords/scores for large portions, just the lyrics.
You can never have too many Tom Lehrer songs!.......2007-01-23
I bought the song book along with "The Remains of Tom Lehrer" (three CD's and a biographical book). A great purchase for us dead-hard Lehrer fans.
I was delighted that I bought the song book as I can now sing (out of tune) and strum my guitar (rather badly) to many of his infamous songs and annoy the hell out of my children.
tom lehrer book.......2006-11-11
good book, great choice of repertoire- his sonds are a bit grisly but perfect if you need something to wake the audience up! definitely got my money's worth.
So long mom, I'm off to drop the bomb, so don't wait up for me.......2006-08-14
Yes, this is the book you definitely want to have! Every Tom Lehrer song you can think of--and probably many you can't-are here in a fairly easy piano format. If you can't play piano, you can probably read the lyrics. If you can't read the lyrics, you're probably not reading this, but you can still see the drawings by Ronald Searle, which are pretty funny in their own right. If you can't see the drawings by Ronald Searle, I can't help you.
The lyrics are also contained, of course. And besides the satirical songs Mr. Lehrer recorded in the sixties, the book also contains the songs he wrote for the Electric Company in the seventies, like "Silent E" ("Who can turn a can, into a cane", etc.) and "L-Y".
The only problem I have with this book is that I believe all music books that are meant to be used for playing instruments should be spiral bound or otherwise fixed such that they don't fall apart. Since this one has a regular glued binding, of course after a few rounds with "A Song for World War III" and "New Math", all the pages fell out. So to the publisher: please make a spiral bound edition! Then I will give this book 5 stars!

Book Description
Women are more likely than men to develop anxiety disorders, a fact which researchers have attributed to a range of biological, psychological, and cultural factors. This predispostion inclines women to worry more than men about things like social problems, work, financeseven about worry itself, a phenomenon psychologists call meta-worry. The goal of this book is to help readers control excessive worry by learning to perceive threats more accurately and to stop focusing on things that are unlikely to happen.
Following an introduction by noted psychologist Michelle Craske that explores the reasons women worry more than men, the book addresses the fundamentals of worry: what it is, how it differs from anxiety, and how it can develop into a chronic state of mind. The book offers strategies for overcoming worry that include monitoring personal worry triggers, breaking worry-provoking habits, and avoiding avoidancea major aggravating factor for all anxiety disorders. From it, you'll learn to use mindfulness techniques to avoid ruminating on the past or the future and how to use progressive relaxation to cope with worrisome situations.

Excellent for use in therapy.......2005-10-10
Dr. Hazlett-Stevens' manages to make use of the most recent advances in clinical research in creating easy-to-follow and straightforward exercises in reducing worry. Traditionally, worriers tend to not make great use of treatments that focus on the specifics of the worry at hand. That is, when one worry seems to be dealt with, it feels like another has popped up in its place. In contrast, the strong focus of Hazlett-Steven's book is at reducing stress and total amount of worry overall (with examples of specific worries in Part III). If worry is a problem for you, I think this book could be a great asset.
Highly recommended resource.......2005-09-22
This book is very well-written for a range of audiences. Even into the first few chapters you start to become more aware of how worry affects your life. I really enjoyed how manageable and applicable the recommended exercises were found in each chapter. Trying these exercises allows for practice of new ways of dealing with chronic worry and anxious thoughts that can make life so stressful.
Great book.......2005-09-19
This is a really good book that I would reccomend to all women, not just women suffering from anxiety. It teaches us to cope with huge stressors along with the every day decisions and burdens that women face. The thing that I really liked about this book was that unlike other psychology books it was written for all audiences. I have studied psychology and social work in my college career and have had to read some really good books, but they were very difficult to read. This book was an easy and enjoyable read.
Useful for anyone and grounded in scientific research.......2005-09-09
Endorsed by some of the leading researchers in the field of anxiety, this book is firmly rooted in a long tradition of scientific research. It gives the reader a clear understanding of what worry is all about, as well as many useful and easy-to-do techniques for managing one's own anxiety and worry. It's a chance for people of both genders to better understand themselves, and learn specific skills for bettering their own lives.
