Book Description

Juniper Networks family of NetScreen and SSG Firewalls are second only to Cisco in worldwide unit sales. These devices are becoming increasingly sophisticated as threats to networks continue to grow exponentially. This is the essential reference for any IT professional responsible for configuring and managing the devices.

Configuring Juniper Networks NetScreen & SSG Firewalls is the only complete reference to this family of products. It covers all of the newly released features of the product line as highlighted by Juniper Networks, including:

Deep Inspection firewall extends stateful inspection to detect application level attacks and stop them at the network perimeter.

Integrated Intrusion Prevention for unmatched application-level protection against worms, Trojans, Spyware and malware in the enterprise, carrier and data center environments.

Centralized, policy-based management minimizes the chance of overlooking security holes by simplifying roll-out and network-wide updates.

Virtualization technologies make it easy for administrators to divide the network into secure segments for additional protection.

Built-in high availability features allow pairs of devices to be deployed together to eliminate single points of failure

Rapid Deployment features help minimize repetitive tasks and administrative burden associated with wide spread deployments.

* All you could need to know on Juniper Networks NetScreen and SSG devices
* Covers the materials found on the NetScreen NCSA exam
* Provides clear configuration examples that help simplify an otherwise complex process

5 out of 5 stars great.......2007-07-18

Book is easy to read and understand. Most books like this are so technical that they dont make any sense. Has some repitition to burn important things into your head. I wish more networking books were like this.

2 out of 5 stars Broad coverage - poor in the details.......2007-06-11

Definitively one of the worst technical publications I've ever bought.

This book will be useful only if you want to gain a general understanding on how netscreen firewalls work, but under no circumstance this should be considered a technical reference, or configuration guide.

HUGE lack of examples, and those present are extremely simplistic. Just driving through clicking on the NetscreenOS interface is not an example. The book is also plagued of grammatical inconsistencies.

After having read each one of its 743 pages I'm still on the same place I was before starting.

If you need a little more detail on what's behind the NetScreen & SSG architecture, use the Reference Guide from Juniper (more than 2,000 pages of rich examples, scenarios, and explanations... and the best... FREE!!!). That's exactly what I'm doing now.

To the publishers: thank you for making me post my first review ever.

2 out of 5 stars A Golden Opportunity.......2007-03-28

Really good Juniper Networks security documentation is still lacking and the free info is typically better. There is still a golden opportunity for a technical author to write a really good book on best-practice design and implementation, to effectively leverage and integrate Juniper technology -- not just more reference material.

5 out of 5 stars Helpful.......2007-03-10

Got this for a friend so that he could use it to learn and increase his knowledge of the products to further his career. He said its a very helpful book.

3 out of 5 stars Broad coverage, but limited by production nits.......2007-01-02

Juniper NetScreen firewalls have become a market leader for performance and features, and it's no wonder: they really are that good. As such, more people need to learn how to use them and configure them to do a wide range of activities. With this in mind, "Configuring Juniper Networks NetScreen & SSG Firewalls" attempts to fill that gap.

This book is similar to the well known and respected books from Cisco Press, and is basically a large scale product manual. As such, it's important to compare it both to the Cisco Press books in terms of production quality and clarity, and also to the docs that Juniper provides for free on their website. When you make this comparison, you find that "Configuring Juniper Networks NetScreen & SSG Firewalls" comes up short in both areas. That's not to say it isn't trying, but there are enough problems to make it just an average book.

Chapter 1 is the common basic firewall and Internet threat overview. Nothing too groundbreaking, and probably included for completeness. Chapter 2 is a nice overview of the Juniper Netscreen product line, and some of the basic concepts and technologies within them. Again, useful and probably included for completeness.

Chapter 3 covers "Deploying Juniper firewalls", focusing on basic options and introducing you to the web-based UI. Most of the material here is available in the online help or the free Juniper docs. Most of the instructions in this chapter are clear. Chapter 4 focuses on policy configuration and uses both the UI and the CLI to do so. Again, stuff that you can pick up with the free docs (granted the CLI help isn't as rich as docs, but the help is there nonetheless, especially for the UI), and again the presentation and examples are pretty clear.

Chapter 5 covers advanced policy configuration ideas, but focuses on bandwidth management. Some decent material here, but some of the CLI stuff gets a bit long and you can start to drown in it if you're not careful. Chapter 6 covers user authentication, and by this point the book (which, admittedly, is a reference book at heart) gets to be mind numbing. I started noticing some production errors here, usually in the typeface and presentation of the material. Some of the "settings" stuff gets to be a bit unclear to me at times, perhaps I need to study it more closely.

Chapter 7 covers routing (ie RIP, OSPF, BGP) and virtual routers. The size of this chapter and its examples is huge (100 pages), and if you're not careful you'll go blind. Again, this doesn't have much over the free Juniper docs, which are a bit better organized. Chapter 8 is a bit more managable (50 pages or so) and covers address translation (NAT, PAT, etc). at times it just becomes a series of examples, but the presentation is similar to the previous chapters. Not much over the free Juniper docs. Chapter 9 is another similar chapter and covers transparent mode. Decent presentation and examples, a few nits here and there that I find in this set of chapters.

Chapter 10 covers attack detection and defense, and I think the material is better organized than the more traditional networking materials. The examples are fewer and more focused.

Chapter 11 covers VPNs and was surprisingly short. The configuration stuff is either surprisingly simple and foolproof to set up or this chapter was very hit and run. The screenshots in this chapter are probably the weakest in the whole book, but in general they suffice. I'd probably say hit the Juniper docs, instead. Chapter 12, covering high availability (failover, redundancy, etc) is better, and has more examples and material. I think this is one of the better chapters balancing presentation and examples.

Chapter 13 covers troubleshooting, but I would have expected a bit more material. Perhaps if you pair it with the previous chapters on specific matters and features it would help. Chapter 14 ends the book with a tidy, concise and pretty clear unit on virtual systems (ie sub-interfaces).

Before you buy this book, you should look at the free documentation for ScreenOS and many Juniper products. I suspect that you'll find that their quality meets what you want, and they're clear and concise. That said, review this book (see if you can look inside and flip through it), seeing if it's worth the price for you. "Configuring Juniper Networks NetScreen & SSG Firewalls" attempts to be the authoritative source of information on NetScreen devices and does OK, but there are enough nits in the presentation and production to warrant any potential buyers to really compare it to the existing docs.

Book Description

The Juniper Networks routing platforms are becoming the go-to solution for core, edge, metro and remote office networks, and JUNOS software is behind it all. The operating system is so full of industrial-strength routing protocols and IP innovations that those treading into the world of JUNOS will need clarification, explanation, and a showcase example or two. Look no further. This JUNOS Cookbook provides it all and more.

Yes, you can mine through the 5,000 pages of documentation or take a two-thousand-dollar training course, but JUNOS's interprocess sophistication can be baffling unless you know the shortcuts and tricks, as well as those rays of illuminating comprehension that can come only from those who live with it. JUNOS Cookbook

is the first comprehensive book about JUNOS software and it provides over 200 time-saving step-by-step techniques including discussions about the processes and alternative ways to perform the same task. It's been tested and tech-reviewed by field engineers who know how to take JUNOS out for a spin and it's applicable to the entire line of M-, T-, and J-series routers. JUNOS Cookbook will not only pay for itself the first few times you use it, it will make your network easier to manage and update.

"Aviva Garrett has done a tremendous job of distilling the features of JUNOS software in a form that will be useful for a wide audience-students, field engineers, network architects, and other networking professionals alike will benefit from this book. For many people, this is the only book on JUNOS they will need." Pradeep Sindhu, CTO and Founder, Juniper Networks

"This cookbook is superb. Aviva Garrett has masterfully assembled a complete set of practical real-world examples with step-by-step instructions. Security, management, routing: it's all here!" Stephen Gill, Research Fellow, Team Cymru

"A technical time-saver for any NOC or SOC working with JUNOS. It's clear, concise, and informative recipes are are an invaluable resource. " Scott A. McIntyre, Security Officer, XS4ALL Internet B.V

5 out of 5 stars Worth its weight in GOLD!.......2007-07-30

I would give this book six stars, if it were possible. This book presents a hands-on guide to JunOS. From installation and upgrade to routing protocols and MPLS -- this books spills the beans. The author provides "recipes" to acheive common routing tasks on JunOS quickly and without fluff. There are no filler chapters on theory, design, and protocols. Just plenty and plenty of practical, extremely useful recipes.

For anyone with a Cisco background, this book will get you up and running quickly with JunOS. Using this book, I was able to:

1) install JunOS;
2) upgrade JunOS;
3) configure NTP;
4) configure network interfaces;
5) configure BGP and ISIS;
6) enable a packet sniffer for troubleshooting purposes;
7) configure RADIUS authentication;
8) backup and restore JunOS configurations over the network;
9) and enable ssh access to a router running JunOS.

That's just scratching the surface of what this book covers. The more I read it, the more I learn -- and the more JunOS impressed me.

The absolutely best technology book I've purchased this year. Highly, highly recommend it to anyone using JunOS or moving to JunOS.

5 out of 5 stars The JUNOS Cookbook is a real joy.......2006-07-18

Aviva's flair for concise explanation makes this book a real joy. It's rare that I read just one recipe. If you want a concentrated dose of JUNOS that's sweet and easy to swallow, then get this book.

5 out of 5 stars Great reference for even JUNOS experts.......2006-05-05

Even though you've been configuring or operating Juniper routers for long time and you think you are familiar enough with JUNOS, you'll still learn something you don't know from this book; the "Problem/Solution/Discussion/See Also" structure helps to quickly find and read the exact information you need and nothing more, if you don't need to, just like you would use a standard dictionary.

If you operate a Juniper router from time to time, or even on a daily basis, this book should be always on your desk, handy to grab, so you can use it whenever you need to answer a configuration or operational question, when you exhausted reading the standard configuration guides and the online help, and just before calling for help from a friend or from Juniper's Technical Assistance Center (JTAC).

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Study Guide - Test Engine Could Be Better.......2006-10-15

The text is joy to read; it is both lucid and succinct. However, with a 2003 copyright, it is beginning to show its age. There is no mention of Juniper's new routers, such as the M320 or the T-series, though these might not be covered on the JNCIA exam. And the preferred placement of some configuration statements within the JUNOS hierarchy has changed in more recent JUNOS releases.

Many of the questions included with the test engine include 15-20 line snippets of JUNOS configuration. Unfortunately, the test engine only allows a few lines of a question to be displayed at any time, so scrolling is needed to read such questions. Moreover, the test engine provides no facility for remembering from session to session which questions you answered right and wrong so that you can limit the questions presented in a later session to only those previously missed. The assessment test and end of chapter questions are printed in the book, so pencil and paper methods may work better for these.

5 out of 5 stars Great Study Guide.......2004-01-07

I highly recommend this book as a review for the associates exam. I hadn't touched a Juniper in two years this study guide got me through recertification.

4 out of 5 stars Good book - Helps alot with the exam.......2003-12-29

The book does a good job at preparation for the JNCIA exam. It goes over each topic well, and gives some good real world examples that make sense. Be prepared though, this is not a CCNA type exam that asks you theory and questions that do not apply to real life (ie. classful routing). This book (and exam) do concentrate on operational aspects, so the book does a good job at introducing CLI commands and the JunOS CLI architecture. It is recommended that you get ahold of a Juniper box to play around in to get the hang of things.

I have to disagree with the authors writing about the BGP architecture on the Internet, though. To state that only Tier 1 ISP's connect at exchange points (atleast how it was depicted in a drawing) is completely wrong. And usage of the Tier1/Tier2/Tier3 names should not be used in todays internet. Today plenty of people are paying for peering from some of the larger networks out there to give themselves the image of "Tier 1". It seems perhaps the authors should be more aware of real ISP operations in respects to how peering is actually done on the Internet today (ie. read the peering playbook by Bill Norton).

5 out of 5 stars JNCIA: Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate Study G.......2003-06-05

This is a great book! It will not give you the test questions and answers for the test. What it will provide is a great source of information relating to routing and an introduction to Juniper's routers. The depth of information in Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate Study Guide is sufficient to pass the test. The questions in the book and on the CD require the same level of understanding as the actual JNCIA exam. In fact I scored the same on the bonus exams (located on the CD) as I did on the actual test. I have been working with Cisco equipment for over eight year and with Juniper routers for a little over a year. I have my CCNP and CCDP. With my background, this book and three weeks, now I have my JNCIA certification. Don't take the JNCIA certification test lightly. I would rate it at the same level as the CCNP and CCDP. With this book and some time you should be able to pass the exam.

    Book Description

    Volume V, the final volume of Thunder Over the Ochoco covers ther period of 1880 and 1916. Rifle shots echoed the length and breadth of the Deschutes canyon as the Hill-Harriman railroad giants battled to link central Oregon to the outside world.

    The birth of industry would give vent to new bloodshed in the Ochoco. Six-shooters roared in the night, ranchers disappeared never to be seen again... and the juniper trees bore fruit: the dangling bullet-ridden bodies of men whose only crime was to oppose the land barons who ruled old Crook County with a Winchester rifle and a rawhide rope. As the 19th century staggered to a close, a Shoshoni visionary born in the Ochoco foretold the rebirth of Indian supremacy. His wondrous dream was buried in a common grave at Wounded Knee, South Dakota. By the time the 20th century blundered onto the scene, saddle-blanket blazes hacked into the Ochoco pines marked the deadlines between sheep and cattle range and woe unto him who crossed these barriers.

    Ironically, the last Indian war fought in the United States would explode on the Oregon-Nevada border in 1911 when a Shoshoni chief led his followers, armed only with bows and arrows, in a suicidal charge against a group of stockmen. Thus ended the Thunder Over the Ochoco.

    Would the new owners do a better job of managing the land they had wrenched from the Shoshoni? I leave that to other writers to decide.

The book covers lot of scenarios and case studies in great detail. The author/editors need to be commended for such scintillating efforts on publishing a very good book on Juniper routers. This book not only can be used for preparing for the JNCIP exam but also you can put it in your library for reference. But one thing is for sure, this is a great book and better to have a copy f it. I have benefitted by going through this book.

    3 out of 5 stars Out of Date But Still Largely Relevant and Useful .......2005-06-17

    Juniper has a chunk of what once was Cisco's core routing business, but it has a very small fraction of published pages in this area. This book is from 2002 and is still one of only a handful of books available on the M and T Series in the service provider space. It also refers to a lot of obsolete products (M5, M10, M40 and the infamous M160). Even with that, and the fact that it's kind of a "meta documentation" book rather than a case study guide or design reference as Cisco might put out, this is still a pretty useful book.

    JUNOS and its many advantages over IOS (way more stable and secure, typically higher performing, commit/rollback capabilities, far better high availability features) are not that different than what they were three years ago, and this book explains them quite well. The architecture of Juniper routers is also the same, both in terms of the separate routing and packet forwarding engines, and the midplane design of the hardware with port interface cards (PICs) and flexible PIC concentrators (FPC).

    In a sense, it's more likely that a single Juniper book can cover a variety of platforms over the course of several years than it would be for Cisco. The upgrade procedures for Juniper are far simpler, and there is only a single code train for all platforms, whereas figuring out how to pick the right version of IOS can be quite a chore.

    Still, there are a lot of Juniper enhancements that are not covered here and that really should be available in something more than the online docs. For instance, VPLS completely antedates this book, and Juniper's MPLS support includes some a very nice enhancement to RSVP (e.g., the point to multipoint LSP) which outdoes anything Cisco has for transmitting broadcast video across backbone networks. Also, the E Series for broadband aggregation and service routing is not mentioned at all. Finally, the products that came from the NetScreen acquisition offer some unique power and flexibility in terms of being able to set up managed services; this should be covered in a follow-on volume as well.

    But the good news is that (due to Juniper's consistency) the current material is valid and will be helpful for current M and T series routers. Although the configuration snippets throughout the book are mostly documentation syntax (instead of real examples), there is an extensive configurations chapter for ATM, BGP, ISIS, and Layer 3 MPLS VPNs. So I'd give the book three stars, though when it came out it would have been four. Still, it's time for someone to start publishing some service provider oriented books that explain how to configure revenue-generating services for network operators that have been hung out to dry by Cisco's "Love the Internet whether it makes you profitable or not" philosophy.

    5 out of 5 stars Excellent precis of Juniper's documentation.......2002-11-19

    This book serves as an excellent precis of the full JUNOS and Juniper hardware documentation set. Written by senior staff in Juniper's own technical publications team, it is sufficiently small for a field engineer to have on hand when working in the field and sufficiently detailed that a user can configure most features without referring to any other documentation.

    For those looking for in depth reviews of how the protocols work, this isn't the book you want (there are numerous books providing the gory details of all the protocol behaviour). If you just want to know how to build, operate and troubleshoot a Juniper network, this is the book you need.

    Although I got this book at the beginning of this month, I benefit from this book very well.

    From simple point of networking to complex topologies, each point is clearly explained. That is, it is designed to welcome most of the needs of an ISP.

    I thing each network engineer holds this book under his/her hand.

    This i believe is one of the best Juniper reference books i have come across. I have read and used within my job the complete reference by Matt Kolon and Jeff Doyle, aswell as other books. However this reference guide seems to cover the essential aspects of the more upto date Junos versions.
    This is an excellent book that is well presented and easy to read, which has to be the killing point, i found the book written as if i where actually speaking to some of the people i know at Juniper through my company.
    I passed my JNCIS by this book, I am recommending this book to all my friends who are scattered across various ISP's in the european region that have also implemented Juniper at the amsterdam internet exchange, london internet exchange etc across europe..

    Book Description

    This classic guide to artisanal bread is back with a fresh new look, just in time to take advantage of the recent surge in popularity of at-home baking. As an award-winning baker and member of a religious brotherhood, Peter Reinhart skillfully blends the two aspects of his life in this eloquent guide to creating wonderful bread. More than 30 delicious recipes, from perfect white bread to pumpernickel and corn, will appeal to both the novice and experienced baker. Reinhart's graceful commentary accompanies readers every step of the way, and illustrates how the artistry of baking, especially using the slow-rise method, is a metaphor for a purposeful life driven by service and charity. Cookies, sticky buns, stromboli, pizza crust, and "the world's greatest brownies" are some of the delectable dividend recipes included.

    If you love Peter Reinhart, you'll want to add this book to your collection.
    True, go for the Bread Baker's apprentice, or Crust and Crumb if you don't have any of his books yet. They are both must haves and Bread Baker's Apprentice is probably the most popular book out there right now for the home baker and with good reason.
    But if you want to know more about Peter, and where he started from buy this lovely book. Plus it has some great recipes! The corn bread recipe alone is worth the price!

    2 out of 5 stars Searching For a Cogent Thought - Or, a Palatable Recipe .......2006-10-26

    .
    ........A book searching for a cogent thought, and a palatable recipe.

    I have never comfortably embraced this author, his recipes, or his mode of expressing himself, and this effort in no way reverses that judgment.

    I find his books pedantic and inflated. The aimless text asserts such device as the sound of crust "causing a religious experience." Since he avoids all specific association with a traditional chantry, the context of such contrivances is completely confused and disordered. He speaks as well of channeling and alchemy.

    The religiously disjointed text embroiders such balmy combinations as traditional Buddhist expressions indiscriminately combined with those of Tao, along with other platitudinous Eastern religious utterance; he sometimes culminates his thoughts with the lyrics of Van Morison. This book is embarrassingly inane.

    The text much reminds me of the old joke "If you can remember the 60's - you weren't there!" The person writing this manufactured artifice superficially speaks to "the great cosmic law," Allah, and Kung Fu all implying a weakness of intellect and conspicuous foolishness.

    His recipes are awkward by today's standard. They require much sugar, salt, and commercial yeast. His corn bread recipe calls for one-and-a-half Cups of Sugar! The retarding methods are less than au courant; moreover, he uses volume measurements instead of weight.

    This book, as the rock stars it quotes; fails the passage of time.

    2 out of 5 stars Not for everyone.......2006-01-29

    Just a warning to those getting into bread baking in order to get healthier breads. This is not the place to do that. Much too much emphasis on sugary recipes.
    I rarely get rid of a cookbook but I couldn't wait to give this away--to a sugar fan.

    Book Description

    His real name was Tyler McAllister, but he felt like a lemon. He had allergies and nightmares, and was the only unfamous person in his family. But one night he and a friend went swimming at the forbidden quarry, and Tyler found a dead body. Now he's determined to find out who killed the man and why they're now after him....

    Customer Reviews:

    3 out of 5 stars Good Misfit Character.......2007-06-06

    Tyler has always felt like something of a lemon. He is allergic to practically everything and has to have allergy shots all of the time to keep his body under control. He always seems to be getting himself into trouble, too, through carelessness or just by chance. He thinks he may be one of the most unlucky people around. His mom, a famous actress, and his older brother Christopher, about to make his big break in acting, don't seem to mind, though. But Tyler always feels badly about inconveniencing them.

    It's the start of a new school year, and Tyler is in a new house, living with a housekeeper he's known for most of his life and a new groundskeeper. Tyler's mother and brother are both away, filming. Once again, Tyler seems to have gotten himself into big trouble. He and his only friend sneaked out one night to go swimming at a quarry nearby. As they broke in, they saw a car driving off. Not long afterward, Tyler swam right into a dead body. He and his friend may have witnessed a murder that night. Even worse is when Tyler is caught overhearing a conversation about the dead body that points suspicion in a dangerous direction.

    I liked Tyler's character and the relationships he built with his family and close friends. Even though his brother and mother were far away, he could really depend on them to be there for him. I also liked Chuckie a lot, and I liked how he related to Tyler. I thought the ending of the book worked out far too easily to be realistic, though.

    5 out of 5 stars Great Book.......2007-05-31

    I've been looking in local stores for this book and I am so happy I finally found it here on Amazon. I originally read it when I was in the eighth grade and it quickly became one of my favorites. Although I haven't read it since I was in school, I think it says a lot about this book that I'm now 27 years old and still remember it fondly. I'm looking forward to reading again and I highly recommend it to teens and young adults.

    3 out of 5 stars All In the Life of A Lemon.......2006-05-11

    Tyler McAllister's life was anything but normal, and he was not your typical twelve year old. He had a lot of allergies and was always going to one doctor or another. He blamed himself for everything that went wrong, including his parents breakup. His father, who was a producer, died in a plane crash when Tyler was just eleven years old. His mother and brother were both actors and were hardly ever home. He was being cared for by Mrs. Saunders (his housekeeper) and Chuckie (their groundskeeper). As if that wasn't bad enough, Tyler had just moved to Wakefield and was about to start at a new school. His only friend at that time was Lymie.

    The action begins when Tyler and Lymie sneak up to the quarry. While they were sitting on the rocks they saw two people get into a dark colored car that had a red interior. They didn't pay much attention to it until they decided to go for a swim and Tyler swims right into a dead body. They were terrified and decided not to say anything to anyone. They didn't want to get into trouble for being at the quarry, and also didn't feel that they could tell the police anything that would help them solve the mystery. They didn't really see the faces of the two people and couldn't identify the car. They also did not know whose body it was. On the first day of school Tyler meets Mary Grace and they become good friends. For a time the author doesn't talk about the murder. Instead, he spends quite a while telling you about different things that happen to Tyler at school. He talks about Tyler getting into a fight with a bully and getting badly beaten up. At one point he gets sent down to the principal's office for falling asleep in class and gets put into a room to wait while Mr. Blumberg called Mrs. Saunders. While he is in the room waiting, two boys come in and start talking about how they moved the body. Tyler knew who the boys were, but they didn't know he was in there until the principal came in looking for him. They recognized Tyler and knew he heard them talking. Tyler thinks they will try to kill him and doesn't know who to talk to. He finally tells Mary Grace and Chuckie. Together they come up with a plan to work on one of the boys who they feel has a guilty conscience and will crack under pressure. Their plan works and the boy confesses, but his explanation of what happened it not what Tyler imagined. Instead of feeling good about forcing the kid to confess, Tyler actually felt sorry for him.

    The book was alright, but is not one that I would enjoy reading over again. I hate bullies and didn't like the part where Tyler got beaten up by Beaver Bruckman. I also did not care for the part where the principal is picking on Tyler because of his family situation and the fact that he is being raised by his housekeeper.

    I thought it was pretty neat though that Tyler traveled to Albany for his allergy shot and then went to the RPI Fieldhouse in Troy to watch a wrestling match. Not only do I live in Troy, but I also am a fan of wrestling.

    I gave this book three stars. I felt it was a fairly good mystery, but that the author sometimes gave you so much detail that it was easy to lose the main idea of the chapter you were reading.

    5 out of 5 stars Lemon Trouble.......2006-02-11

    Tyler is a 12 year old kid and he has been in and out of many schools. His mother and his brother Chris are very famous actors and they star in movies and in soap operas. Tyler has really bad allergy problems and is allergic to about everything that he touches. Tyler has a best friend named Lymie and a other good friend named Mary Grace. Lymie is a chubby kind of kid that doesn't like to let his parents down so he does chores whenever they ask him to do them. Mary Grace is the nicest girl in this entire book and she is also always worried about Tyler. She especially is worried about him when Tyler Gets into a fight with a big bully at his school named Beaver. Beaver has been held back about two times in his entire life and is about two times the size of Tyler. They both start out when they were both at their gym class and Beaver starts ramming into everybody and blaming them from running into him. After that, he makes them say they are sorry all except for Tyler. The two of them start whaling punches at each other like there is no tomorrow. One night, Tyler and Lymie went to the quarry for a swim and Tyler swam up to a dead body. It was Bobo a mental kid that like hanging out with Mark. The whole rest of the week, they were trying to figure out who had killed Bobo. Mrs. Saunders is his housekeeper and she takes care of Tyler. Tyler had already been kicked out of a prep school because of his record of fighting.

    I thought this was a good book overall. I liked the part where Tyler got into a fight with Beaver at their gym class and the gym teacher had to break them up. After school, they fought again but this time, there was no one around from stopping Beaver from pummeling Tyler's face into the ground. Tyler was a bloody mess after that day. I didn't really like the part where Tyler was swimming in a pond with a dead guy floating right beside him.

    I think that all of the mystery readers out there should read this book because it is very mysterious. This book is also very dramatic. Bobo's death makes this book so mysterious also. There are no specific authors that I would recommend besides Daniel Hayes.

    5 out of 5 stars The Trouble With Lemons Review.......2004-05-20

    I recently had a project from my teacher and I had to choose a book to read from 3 books choices. I chose Trouble With Lemons because of the summary on the back of the book. It looked interesting. I really liked the book and how it was put together. I liked the twist at the end and the explanation of what had happened to BooBoo. I liked Tyler and how he thought of himself. I sometimes feel like he did in the book. I would recommend this book to teenage boys. I'm looking forward to reading the next book Eye of the Beholder.

    5 out of 5 stars Excellent Juniper Content: For certification or reference.......2003-10-24

    Harry's JNCIP and JNCIE books won't put you to sleep or remind you of free documentation that is available on the Internet. They cover each JUNOS feature in-depth and apply the features to a "lab network" throughout each chapter. I believe I own every book published with Juniper content and these stand out in my collection. You won't find chapters wasting time with an overview of TCP/IP, the OSI model, or basic IP routing. Buy these books even if you not are taking the lab exams. They will help with the your real world configurations of all the IGPs, BGP, MPLS, VPNs, CoS, IPv6, and multicast protocols. I think they are great for the Cisco engineers that need to get up to speed with Juniper M-series routers. These books belong with the Jeff Doyle books that are already on our bookshelves.
