For my 18 year old sister..........2007-03-26
I thought this book was cute... really CUTE. There are others that are smart and others that are funny, this was cute and a decent choice for my little sister who is going to be my Maid of Honor. It talks down to you a little and it's very "girly" but it's quite fun and my sister enjoys it.
Good Guide for novices..........2007-02-21
Was fun and enjoyable experience to read this book...great ideas to make the bride feel special!
the Bridesmaid Guide.......2007-01-22
I bought this book for my bridesmaids for Christmas and they loved it! It helped me by reading it also because now I know what bridesmaids' exact responsibilites are. Such a fun read!!
Great Ideas for a Maid of Honor Beginner!.......2006-08-18
The friend I chose to be my Maid of Honor had never been in a wedding party before, and so I knew she'd need a little help/instruction in knowing what her duties would include. This is a great little book that has helped her be an amazing Maid of Honor. In addition, the book has a great look to it, and really isn't very expensive. In asking someone to be in your wedding, why not give them this book and ask them in an inscription inside the front cover?
Great Gift for your Bridesmaids.......2006-08-09
I was looking for a small gift to send my bridesmaids and I came across this book. It is a fun little guide for those new to the wedding world, as some of my bridesmaids are. As a wedding novice myself, being the first of my friends to marry, it was a good heads up on what to ask of my attendants and what mistakes to avoid. The feedback from my bridesmaids has also been very positive, they enjoyed the light witty style mixed with the helpful guide. I am very glad I found this book and would suggest it to anyone who wants to treat their bridesmaids!

Customer Reviews:
Very basic.......2007-05-15
This book was ok. I was hoping for a little more detail or delving into the maid of honor duties as opposed to bridesmaid duties and this book failed to deliver. It is very simple, perhaps good for a junior bridesmaid?
Too much responsibility!.......2006-11-10
This book gives the maid of honor WAY too much responsibility. From contacting and dealing with all the other bridesmaids so the bride can worry about others things to contacting everyone on the guest list to introduce yourself and let them know where the couple is registered. Ha! This book does contain the basics, but it pushes things a bit too far I think.
Probably not the worst bridesmaid book out there..........2006-11-06
My husband was obsessing over his duties for a wedding that he and I were asked to stand up in. As long as I was buying him a book about being a Best Man, I decided to read up on being a Maid/Matron of honor.
Now I've only been a part of weddings in the Midwest, so I don't know how it is done elsewhere in the country, but many of the duties this book outlined seem out of date. For example, calling all of the guests and introducing myself? No honor attendent has ever called me when I was a guest! I also was not aware that the maid of honor was supposed to organize absolutely everything with wedding day hair appointments, guest accomodations, dress fittings, etc. As I bride I did all of that as part and parcel of being the bride and the brides I've stood up for have all been the same. Perhaps we are all just control freaks.
I mostly wanted information on the bridal shower and bachelorette party and I did get some ideas. And it did remind me that I needed to check in with the bride frequently to offer my services, even if she had everything under control.
The last section of the book covers toasts. Please, do not use the sample toasts. I'm not sure what the author was drinking when she wrote the section on toasts, but whatever it was, it was in large quantities. I know that not everyone is a natural public speaker, but a few heartfelt works about your relationship to the bride and well wishes would be much prefered to the toasts written in the final chapter.
I don't understand the good reviews..........2006-07-01
I bought this book based on the reviews, but I found it to be a horrible book. I can't imagine following these rules and having friends after the wedding. What the tell you to do is be one of those annoying people that gets involved in EVERYTHING and takes over EVERYTHING.
EVERYTHING wedding related seems to be the responsibility of the Maid of Honor.
I'm scared to be a Maid of Honor after reading this book. What the author describes as responsibility of the Maid of Honor seems more appropriate for a Wedding Planner.
This is a very helpful book.......2005-05-04
I was a little nervous to buy this book because I saw a bad review but the others were all so good. It was out of stock for a while but I bought it and I found it very helpful. The tone seemed really fine to me. I dont know if I would buy it as a bride to give to the maid of honor because I think any book would be presumptous. I think this is a book that a Maid of Honor should buy for herself. It helped me a lot.
Book Description
Bridesmaid dresses -- what are they good for? We've got to pay for them, wear them, and then find a spot for them in the back of the closet. Our best women friends, suddenly transformed into tasteful-white-dress-wearing brides, tell us, "You'll be able to wear this bridesmaid dress again." But we know better.
101 Uses for a Bridesmaid Dress, tongue firmly in cheek, pokes fun at the hopelessly horrible dress that a bride asks her "court" to don. These whimsical illustrations and silly suggestions, from cocktail napkins and shower curtains, to pony blankets and frilly jock straps, are a hilarious antidote to the bridesmaid dresses we'll never wear again.
Customer Reviews:
Attention Bridezillas: Your bridesmaids will appreciate the humor.......2007-06-26
I have to laugh at some of the reviews expecting "truly practical" uses for a bridesmaids dress. Attention bridezillas: no matter how beautiful you think the dresses are, they aren't! So stop taking you, your wedding and your ugly bridesmaids dresses so seriously and add some humor to the event, your bridesmaids will appreciate.
And, if you find that spending under $20 on a bridesmaids gift is too much as one reviewer wrote, do yourself a favor, cancel your wedding, because friends that are willing to put on an ugly bridesmaid dress, buy you shower and wedding presents, deserve to do it for someone that is willing to thank them properly and a gift of under $20 doesn't even begin to say thank you to these women for being a part of your special day.
This book will bring a smile to anyone that has ever worn a bridesmaids dress. I look forward to my bridesmaids using this book to ignite some creativity of things they can do with their dress now that the wedding is over. In fact, I think I'll be disappointed if they don't do something outrageous with the dresses!
Remember, above all your wedding should be about your deep love for one another, and celebrating that love--in other words HAVE FUN! This book will get your bridesmaids on the right start.
Fun bridesmaid gift.......2006-08-26
I made gift bags for my bridesmaid and included these cute books - I've always been a fan of little books like this, so it was perfect for me to give.
Very Cute!.......2005-09-03
I bought his book to give to my bridesmaids as a gift. It is really cute. It's not meant to take seriously though. Very funny! I guess you could use some of the idea in the book. I hope they like it. My mom thought it was a cute idea. I also recommended it to a friend of mine who is getting married the week before me.
Waste of money.......2004-11-21
I wish I had seen some of the reviews on this website before I wasted my money on this book. I was expecting 101 practical ideas and felt so ripped off when I read the book...which took about 2 minutes. Definitely not the book to get if you want useful suggestions.
Fun Gift for Bride's Maids.......2003-10-22
I gave my bridemaids this book at the my bridesmaid brunch. We began to read through it. Other tables were looking at us because we were not doing a very good job of not laughing outloud. One of the better humor books I have seen for this topic. Helped me enjoy my wedding even more.
A great gift for past bridemaids too.

Good easy read.......2007-03-17
If you have an hour or two to kill and you are unsure what being a Bridesmaid entails then this is a very useful book. It is a very easy read. The author keeps everything upbeat and postive and offers advice for crazy situations. I borrowed this book from my sister who was the Maid of Honor at my wedding she found the book a little dull because it says some stuff that is so basic it is almost a given people know it.(ie buy a gift for the Bride and Groom) But I found it helpful to read as a Bride so you have a better understanding of what worries the Bridemaids. All and all a useful book.
Useful on many levels.......2004-11-05
This is a great book for someone who's never been a bridesmaid before (like me). There were a lot of practical hints about what kinds of events you'll need to set up and attend and how much you may end up spending and so on. I do have the occasional quarrel -- Ms. Rung says being pregnant is not an acceptable excuse for bowing out of a wedding party, which I completely disagree with, and I also thought her estimates on what a bridesmaids' dress and accoutrements might cost were frequently low -- but overall, this book is an easy read and often funny too. There is also a lot of repetition, which is probably geared towards those who are only going to read a few chapters.
The nice thing about this book was the reminder that no matter what, you are there to support the bride! I bet this is a point that a lot of people can easily forget in the hoopla surrounding any wedding.
Book Description
In weddings as in war, it always helps to be well prepared. With "biting good humor" (Indianapolis Star), The Bridesmaid's Guerrilla Handbook leads the bridesmaid through her tour of duty. Armed with this guide full of smart strategies and useful maneuvers, the bridesmaid will feel a little less frantic...and have a lot more fun.
Answers the questions:
Who should give the shower?
What's expected of me during pre-wedding preparations?
Am I allowed to object to that hideous dress?
How much is this going to set me back?
Can I just say no?
Now, the armed bridesmaid can make the most of a harrowing ordeal-from dress fittings, to pink organza, and back to civvies.
Includes innovative ideas, such as preparing a bridal emergency kit
Plus worksheets to help limited budgets

Confusing, missing details, bad attitude.......2007-05-11
I thought this book had a fun title, so I bought it for my maid of honor for my wedding, and then for myself when I was in her wedding. It is not full of all of the practical advice I had expected.
This book does have some useful tips, but it is way too light on covering protocol for traditional weddings. It glosses over important points too quickly, without the explanation and emphasis they deserve.
Also, it gave some bad advice. It suggested this: if your intended Maid of Honor is married, to make her Matron of Honor, and appoint an additional Maid of Honor! Although I believe in complete flexibility and customization, this was very impractical, and has only led to confusion in my friend's wedding.
Also, it seemed to often take a high-society attitude, and to assume that everyone wants an absolutely traditional wedding (I certainly didn't). I want to be guided by tradition, but everything should ultimately be what the bride prefers (barring "bridezillas", of course). I hoped that a "guerrilla handbook" might be in line with these ideas, but it wasn't.
I am going to look around for other books. There has to be something better.
Entertaining.......2007-03-26
This little book was not only helpful, but entertaining- I bought three different books that were all useful in their own right, but this one seemed to insult one's intelligence a little less, and if it did, it was deliberate and funny. A GREAT gift for a bridesmaid who may or may not know a little about being a bridesmaid. The trouble I had with other books was that they were a little mundane in the details of one's duties. This one laughed at them all.
Helpful but feeds the beasts.......2006-06-06
The bridesmaid's only real duty is to stand up for her friend who is getting married. NO ONE is "obligated" to hold a shower, since these are a gift to a bride, not something she is entitled to have and absolutely must get.
A bridesmaid with sense should ask up front if she has to pay for her own dress, shoes, hair, etc, and a considerate bride will tell her anyway. Only a bridezilla would give this to her maids and say "this is your job. Do it."
I suggest Bridezilla or a visit to the etiquettehell dot com site for real, free instructions on what one's polite duty is to the bride, and what a considerate bride's responsibilities are to her maids.
first time bridesmaid = needs this book .......2006-02-27
I have never been a bridesmaid before so this book was perfect for me! It was very helpful with timelines, budgetting, and what to expect. Not to mention, it was a great easy read. I sat down and read it all in one go. It gave me more confidence in what I am supposed to do to get ready for my best friends wedding. It was definitely worth it.
The Perfect Wedding Gift.......2004-10-24
My wife gave this book to each of her bridesmaids prior to the wedding (the best day of my life), and they all had a blast utilizing the excellent tips and cute facts. Its a fun, informative well designed book. My wife said it was great for bonding between her bridesmaids, made the whole wedding a lot more enjoyable. I say buy it.
Book Description
Few brides would dare to walk down the aisle without their bridesmaids close at hand. Almost every American woman has been a bridesmaid and experienced the dress (which, despite the bride's promise, will never be worn again), the dyed-to-match shoes, and the task of calming and comforting a nervous bride. For doing all that they do with a smile, bridesmaids deserve this lovely tribute. The intimate duotone photographs celebrate the friendship between a bride and her bridesmaids with beauty and poignancy. Captions such as "She's someone I can count on" let bridesmaids know just why they are so special. Bridesmaids will treasure this special keepsake long after they have sent the dress to Goodwill.

SO cute gift for your Junior Bridesmaid or Older Flowergirl.......2006-12-28
This is for your JBM or FG that is between 8-12. Even though the cover is pretty dorky looking the book is fabulous. It has a lot of really valuable information in it that helps the little lady know what to expect during the months leading up to the wedding and on wedding day. It would only work for relatively traditional weddings though that have showers before, a ceremony with a processional, and a reception with food and dancing. Our favorite parts of the book are when the book is more of a diary format when it asks the girl to write in her ideas and perceptions of both the couple and the wedding process. I gave this book to my niece and in one part she had to draw a picture of her future husband and write about all the qualities that she would like him to have. Her Mom is saving those pages for her own bridal shower in about 15 years. It will be hilarious!! This book is a wonderful keepsake/journal to make your little girl in your wedding feel prepared and very special.
Great information for first time flower girls! .......2006-11-10
My daughter was the flowergirl in her aunt's wedding and she LOVED this book. I got it for her a couple months before the wedding and it gave her a real sense of what she would be doing in the wedding. She is an advanced reader for 6 years old, so she read this on her own and was fascinated with the the book's detailing of different types of weddings and different possible expectations. It did a great job of preparing her, and now she is enjoying the keepsake portion of the book (add photos, list who was in the wedding, etc.). Highly recommended!
Complete means Complete!.......2006-08-02
This book is COMPLETE! I bought this for two of my flowergirls (Age 6 & 7). It's a great guidebook and nice souvenir but it's got a bit of a serious tone - there's a lot of talk about practicing so it may freak some kids out. That said it's comprehensive and certainly gives a child who hasn't been to a wedding before a great idea of what happens.
Packed with information (maybe a little too much)!.......2006-07-05
Our six year old had never been to a wedding before being asked to be a flower girl. (What an overwhelming responsibility to a small child!) There are loads of books out there about flower girls, but few are true "hand books" that give an overview of what takes place at weddings and what exactly a flower girl's role is. This book covers all of the basics and more. We found this book to be particularly helpful in explaining the hows, whens, whys, and whos. We relied on a fictionalized flower girl story to address stage fright, sibling envy, and the magic of weddings. Definitely recommended. The book would make a very nice gift from the bride to her flower girl(s).
Adorable, good book!.......2004-05-07
This book was adorable and helpful. I bought a different book of similar topic and was very disappinted. This was a much better buy and I highly recommend it especially for the young new attendant!

Customer Reviews:
Nice design.......2007-03-26
I bought this book for my style savvy bridesmaid, not for its information... It's not badly written, it's very simple and to the point and, honestly, the typeface and graphic design are what caught my eye. It's very basic and very easy to read and refer to, a good choice for a first time bridesmaid.... probably the one who hasn't really put a lot of thought into what goes into being a wedding in general.
Stays with my planning stuff at all times.......2007-03-04
I'm a Maid Of Honor later this year and this book totally gave me ideas/new twists and brought up things I hadn't thought about. As a long distance MOH, the travel tips and hints were great too. I totally had no idea about some of the extra responsiblities in the reception! Yay for this book!
Customer Reviews:
This book is FANTASTIC!.......2007-05-08
During my first Bridesmaid experience, I didn't have a clue what to do...but I read this book and it made my duties as a bridesmaid so much clearer. I have used it several times since then and every time it even more helpful! My favorite are the stress-relieving coupons in the back. Now I'm getting married and I bought this book as a gift to each of my bridesmaids...hopefully they'll have as much fun readying it as I did. I would suggest this to any Bridesmaid!
Book Description
Being a bridesmaid is one of the greatest honors a dear friend can bestow. But actually wearing the dress the bride picks out? That's the true test of friendship. You Can Wear It Again pays loving tribute to fifty years of bridesmaids' dresses, as featured in real-life weddings. The product of both fashion trends and the bride's whims, bridesmaids' dresses may take the form of medieval costume, complete with wimple; slip dresses with real feathered wings to transform maids into true angels; or the ruffled peach taffeta with puff sleeves that so dominated the 1980s. Whatever the look, you can be sure it's been in and out of fashion more than once. Some lessons are never learned. The perfect gift for current and former bridesmaids, You Can Wear It Again isn't just a showcase of bridal fashions, but a testament to the selfless women everywhere who help the bride's dreams come true.
Customer Reviews:
Great gift for your dedicated bridemaids..........2007-07-30
I bought these books to give to my friends as a way to ask them to be one of my bridesmaids. It was a hit!!! The pictures get funnier and funnier with each turn of the page. It only serves as inspiration to strive a wedding that won't look ridiculous in 25 years... impossible!
Not for Bridesmaids in their 20's.......2007-06-19
I bought 4 of these books to give to my bridesmaids as part of their gift at the rehearsal dinner. It's a cute book/good concept, but I was expecting more modern pictures. There are some classic giant-sleeved 80's dresses, but for the most part, the pictures all look like they are from the 1960's or 1970's. Don't get me wrong - the dresses are hideous to someone in their 20's, but those were just the styles back then. The fewer modern dresses in the book just aren't that bad - I've seen/worn much worse. I think this book would be funnier to someone in their 50's looking back than to young brides/bridesmaids today.
Funny!.......2007-06-10
I bought this as a gag gift for my Mom because we always joke about horrible bridesmaid dress choices. She loved it - it was a little small, but good as a side-gift.
Lots of fun!.......2007-01-12
My daughter is getting married and wanted to do something fun for her bridesmaids. We saw this book and new we had found the perfect thing. The pictures are "a hoot" and the book was the beginning of a fun way to say a huge "thank you" to her friends for being with her at this time. She sent a copy of the book to each one. We think you will enjoy the book. We certainly did!
Three-time bridesmaid laughed myself silly!.......2006-09-07
Before I start, I must include this disclaimer: I'm an unabashed booster of this book, as Ms. Ilasco selected five photos of weddings I shot (the "Kathy and Carla" photo is one), and four photos of weddings I was in. But I am only one of dozens of contributors to this amazing collection!
I thought my mustard dress was bad. I thought the enormous puffy sleeves on the blue dress were ridiculous. I had no idea that wedding party attire could be as appallingly amusing as some of the examples in the book! When I received the finished book, I laughed harder with the flip of each page.
If you've suffered through a polyester or taffeta nightmare, or selected dresses for your friends you realized in retrospect were totally unsuited to their body types, you will enjoy this book.
