Good read.......2007-05-02
Another good read for teens and adults alike.
The story of a girl trying to figure out her place in life - while trying to hold on to her ideals and her ideas of how she should be.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I knew what the 'punch' line would be and kept expecting it earlier in the book. I think more could have been made of the incident. Unfortunately, it arrives towards the late part of the book and I felt as though the impact of the actions taken were kind of hurried over. I would have liked to have seen the author and the character focus more on the incident.
Still, a good read. It was refreshing to read about a teen who was not ready to compromise on her ideals.
Good buy.
Not exciting but a Good read.......2007-04-27
When beginning this novel I was excited considering it was written by Niki Burnham. After a while I began to wonder when the excitement was to going to begin. For a bit it just seemed to drag on but once the ending came it all made sense. I thank Niki Burnham on writing this novel. I think it has a very important message with it. I encourage all girls to give this book a read. See what you get out of it.
Spectacular, yet Explicit.......2007-02-23
This book is definitely a great book for older teenagers, or young adults who want to be entertained and read a nice romance novel, however they should be warned, or their parents, that there are explicit descriptions of sexual activities and sexual inuendos.
Courtesy of Teens Read Too.......2006-12-23
Jenna Kassarian strives to have everything in her life exactly how she wants it--perfect. She has the perfect boyfriend, the perfect friend, and the perfect grades that got her into the top college of her choice. Jenna enjoys working hard because, in the end, it actually pays off. Now that everything seems to be going her way, and it's her last year of high school, all she wants to do, well, actually all her boyfriend wants her to do, is relax and enjoy life. Unfortunately for Jenna, relaxing just isn't in her vocabulary.
So now Jenna is trying her best to let go and have fun. That's not at all possible if what she has worked for has started to change. Her best friend is beginning to act weird and her boyfriend is pressuring her even more for their "first time". Along with that, it seems like her best friend is keeping something from her, something that just might have to do with Jenna's boyfriend.
But all Jenna needs to do is fix the problems around her. Change everything back to the way things were before. Easy, right? Well, when Jenna finally decides to let loose for once, things start to tumble around her and the people that she thought she knew turn out to be her downfall.
Different from all her other works, Niki Burnham's novel STICKY FINGERS has a message that the reader won't know about until the very end. STICKY FINGERS is a novel that everyone should read and take into consideration. Even though the novel is fictional, the ending is the truth and could happen to anyone.

How Sticky Are Your Fingers?.......2006-07-09
This book was ok. I liked the book but did not love it. The begining of the book was very slow but picked up towards the middle. The ending of this book was very good and very surprising! It had a very good ending twist. I love how it dealt with real issues that many people face everyday. Niki Burnham did a great job of writing about Jenna's life. I enjoyed this book but it took me a while to get through it because of the slow start.
Book Description
Written by internationally recognized crisis management expert Steven Fink, Sticky Fingers is the first practical guide that shows companies large and small, publicly traded or privately held, how to avoid huge financial losses from economic espionage, and what to do if a company believes it has been victimized. The FBI ranks economic espionage among the greatest threats to our national security since the end of the Cold War. It costs U.S. businesses more than $250 billion a year, and no company is immune from the risks.
Readers will be able to intimately follow every step behind the scenes of the landmark Avery Dennison/Four Pillars spy case and learn from the vantage points of the spy, the victimized company, the FBI, and the Justice Department prosecutors - from first suspicions to ultimate jury verdict.
Sticky Fingers also details:
* A list of the top countries that spy on U.S. businesses
* Why the biggest threat comes from within and what to do about it
* Cybercrimes - from amateur hacking to professional netspionage
* How to formulate a crisis communications plan
* Dealingor not dealingwith the FBI
Woven throughout the book, the epic lessons from the Avery Dennison/Four Pillars case - the longest and largest economic espionage case in U.S. history, and the first ever to go to trial since the passage of the landmark Economic Espionage Act - are combined with insights of other companies that have been victimized, including Lucent Technologies, Kodak, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, MasterCard, Gillette, Bristol-Myers Squibb, PPG Industries, and many others. Companies can fight back to reduce their risk, using the clear, pragmatic crisis management strategies outlined in this book.
Customer Reviews:
This Book is a Winner!!!.......2003-07-01
Steven Fink, author of the bestselling " Crisis Management," has written a truly superb book on economic espionage. Using actual real world examples involving Avery Dennison / Four Pillars, Lucent Technologies, and Eastman Kodak, Fink has crafted a practical and easy-to-read book on how companies should protect their most valuable corporate asset - their trade secrets.
In the case involving Avery Dennison (the label and adhesives maker), Fink provides a detailed look at what caused a highly respected scientist at Avery Dennison to sell his company's trade secrets to a foreign competitor, namely Four Pillars of Taiwan. The ensuing court trial makes for interesting reading.
Using the example of Eastman Kodak and one of its former employees, Fink again discusses the motivation behind selling one's former employers' trade secrets for personal gain. This human element, which Fink writes about with great ease and clarity, is often overlooked in other books on economic and industrial espionage.
The chapter on the Economic Espionage Act of 1996 and the types of information worth protecting should be 'must reads' for every business manager. I would like to have seen another chapter on methods that companies can use to protect their trade secrets.
All in all, a solid book that provides useful information in an easy to read format.
Mark Robinson, author of "Beyond Competitive Intelligence: The Practice of CounterIntelligence and Trade Secrets Protection."
Packed with Knowledge!.......2002-07-16
Have you ever had to decide whether to pick up that juicy Tom Clancy book or that stale, but important business one? Steven Fink splits the difference and solves your problem with this book that is half spy story, half business advice. Sticky Fingers works best as a thriller. As business advice, the book highlights the basic issues for U.S. companies fighting economic espionage, but falls short of serving up a complete playbook. The devil, as always, is in the details, and the specifics of the bookýs real-life cases sketch a more accurate picture of this particular devil than the generalized advice. If economic espionage is the elephant in the corner that your company has been pretending does not exist, we from getAbstract recommend Sticky Fingers as a starting point to finally taking action to protect yourself.
The Global Cookie Jar.......2002-03-29
Occasionally, an author's concluding remarks shed a great deal of light on what that author's purposes are. That is certainly true of this book. Consider this brief excerpt from the Afterword in which Fink observes: "Acts of terror [e.g. such as those which occurred on September 11th] notwithstanding, economic espionage remains one of the most serious threats to our national security since the Cold War. Therefore, we ought to have seasoned generals leading, and weathered soldiers fighting, the good battles that need to be fought." However, with all due respect to the F.B.I. and to legislation such as the Economic Espionage Act [EEA], "...you still need to be your own best defense against espionage with proper internal education, training, and procedures" and under no circumstances "delegate the crisis management work for your company to the government. It is too important." This brief excerpt helps to explain why this book can be so valuable to decision-makers in global organizations.
Recent research studies have dentified issues of greatest concern to senior-level executives, following September 11th. The top five are mail processing (86%), travel (85%), protection of employees (79%), protection of infrastructure (75%), and risk assessment (71%). Obviously, there is widespread and quite legitimate concern about protecting human beings and physical property. However, as Fink eloquently explains, we must also be concerned about -- and take appropriate measures to protect -- information which is as important to the global economy as oxygen is to the human body.
As events on September 11th clearly indicate, even a country with resources such as those possessed by the United States cannot totally defend itself and its people against terrorists acts. However, because the U.S.A. remains the world leader in research, development, new technology, products, and trade secrets, organizations within the U.S.A. are high-profile targets and "economic espionage spies are still going to come after [them] and that only increases [the] global risk of economic espionage." As previously indicated, Fink's book examines the nature and extent of that potential risk, suggesting all manner of strategies and tactics to anticipate and then prepare for, as well as respond to, economic espionage because it is "a business crisis and should be treated as such."
Fink asserts that "Companies are under attack and at enormous risk every day. from the global threat of economic espionage, but the risk can and should be lowered and managed. Here's how." He organizes his material within two Sections and presents it in 29 interrelated chapters, followed by an Afterword in which he addresses the question, "EEA: Bear Trap or Mouse Trap?" To explain "here's how", he uses the largest economic espionage case ever tried in the United States -- Avery Dennison/Four Pillars -- from his vantage point as the lead crisis management expert for Avery Dennison. Fink guides his reader step-by-step through that seminal case, also also citing along the way relevant situations in other companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Gillette, Kodak, Lucent Technologies, and MasterCard.
Who will derive the greatest benefit from this book? Obviously decision-makers in global organizations. Also service providers to those organizations (e.g. attorneys, accountants, insurance underwriters, management consultants) as well as officials in governmental agencies who are directly or indirectly involved in economic espionage threats as well as acts. I also highly recommend Fink's previous book, Crisis Management, first published in 1986 but more relevant today than ever before. America is at greatest risk because it has the most worth stealing. Those with "sticky fingers" know that and so must those whose task it is to deny them.
Wish We Had Read This Book Sooner!.......2002-03-29
"Sticky Fingers" is a highly valuable contribution to the ranks of important, must-read business books that sheds much-needed light on the theft of company trade secrets. At a cost to U.S. businesses of more than $250 billion a year, it is no wonder the author calls economic espionage the single biggest business crisis in America today. Every executive and manager should read this book pronto and follow the author's sound advice on protecting their company's trade secrets. My company was a victim of economic espionage and believe me, it hurt! I wish our management had read this book and followed Fink's pragmatic advice on how companies can protect their trade secrets and reduce their risk of economic espionage.
Here's the Reality: This book tells it like it is!.......2002-03-28
It is obvious from reading "Sticky Fingers" that the author knows his subject, inside and out. The book has been thoroughly researched and well documented with a couple of hundred source notes to back it up, including interviews with former and current Justice Department prosecutors and FBI agents, as well as many corporate executives. In addition, the author cites no less than three Avery Dennison attorneys who reviewed the manuscript for accuracy. People who plunk down good money for good books appreciate this kind of substantive research. Curiously, in the face of this rock-solid reporting there emerges a childishly cranky "reviewer" from Avery Dennison's Pasadena hometown. (Hmmm?) His - or her - bias seems simplistic and obvious. Having followed this particular case and the Avery Dennison company closely for many years, I have come across quite a few embarrassing incidents that the author might have included had he wanted - perhaps some discomfiting snafus involving the company's lawyers missing scheduled court dates, or company lawyers being publicly rebuked by the trial judge for having loose lips, or gaffes by self-doubting senior management and hyper-nervous internal PR flaks. Even though those incidents may have little to do with the important topic of Economic Espionage, it still might be interesting, if not amusing, if they became public one day. This could be a slippery slope for transparent individuals with personal agendas.
Like the author's previous book on crisis management, "Sticky Fingers" is a book that belongs on every business bookshelf. Company executives and managers would be wise to read it and learn how to prevent the theft of their valuable trade secrets...before they wind up as victimized as the hapless Avery Dennison.

Book Description
Shortly after amateur sleuth Tess Camillo discovers a rattlesnake under the bed of her San Diego home, another lesbian is killed with a snake. Police worry that they have a herpetophile serial killer on their hands. Neither Tess nor the police make much progress until a psychic contacts Tess, offering clues. With curiosity, humor and chutzpah, Tess confronts a rapist who raises rattlers, a nurse who fishes with strange bait, and a well-endowed scarecrow before she solves the case. Along the way she must face a breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent mastectomy. Breezily written, but with a rare, emotional undercurrent, this is the debut of a true new mystery star.
A Jersey native,
Morgan Hunt's stint in the Navy brought her to San Diego, where she lived for 27 years. Now a resident of the Pacific Northwest, this cancer and mastectomy survivor is at work on the next book in the series. Visit the award-winning www.morganhuntbooks.com for more information.
Customer Reviews:
Funny, poignant and an absolute delight to read!.......2007-10-15
"Tess Camillo never expected to be a sleuth. Then again, this wry lesbian never imagined someone would try to kill her...especially not with a snake. The police are convinced the incident at Tess's home was an accident. But when another woman is found murdered a few weeks later--with a snake as the culprit--Tess and her loopy hetro housemate try to unravel the mystery."
* * *
I get the impression there is a great deal of Morgan Hunt in Tess Camillo, that includes the same dry sense of humour, wry wit and droll observations in this easy-paced murder mystery that will have you page turning into the wee small hours. Glib, funny, heart-warming and heartbreaking, Hunt pulls the strings and has us, the reader, thoroughly absorbed in Tess's life and antics before we can say 'snake-bite'.
What captivated me most about Hunt's writing, is her wonderful way with words and ability to set, dress and paint the opening scene of every chapter and more, leave us at the end with a snappy line, that could include Jung, Oreos, Ocotillos and 'What Would Ellen Do?' bumper stickers. Amid all the humor and throw away lines (some of which had me sniggering) Hunt also brings up the serious topic of breast cancer, something she herself survived and again, writes about here, deftly navigating this frightening, life-threatening disease with compassion and a large dose of droll humor. Making Tess all the more accessible as someone we can identify with.
My only complaint about Sticky Fingers, and it's a tiny one, is that the book wasn't nearly long enough. Dang, but I wanted more, I still want more. Happily, however, I hear from the delightful Ms. Hunt herself there is more on the way. Alyson Books has picked up not one, but two more Tess Camillo titles. Which means, dear reader, more helpings of Tess, Lana and the faithful dog, Raj, to make us smile and laugh out loud, while taking us on some colorful journey to solve another of life's mysteries.
Funny, colorful, quirky and an absolutely delight to read!
THE PERFECT MYSTERY READ!.......2007-07-03
So good, I will have to read it one more time before the summer is over.
A page turner from beginning to end!.......2007-06-25
Reviewed by Cherie Fisher of Reader Views (6/07)
I had a sleepless night thanks to "Sticky Fingers." First, the book was so good that I could not put it down until I found out what happened, and once I finished, I could not get the images of snakes out of my mind! Morgan Hunt's wonderful writing style will engage you from the first page and keep you turning pages until the very end.
The main character, Tess Camillo, is just that, a real character. She is not a detective but a middle aged woman, employed in an okay job in San Diego. She shares a house with her ex-lover, Lana, and is currently not in a relationship. The current love of her life is her Welsh terrier, Raj.
The mystery begins when Tess finds a rattler in her bedroom. The police chalk it up to coincidence, but the story takes an ominous turn when someone else in the gay community is brutally murdered by a poisonous snake. As Tess becomes friendly with the murdered woman's partner, Darlene, the danger increases and she becomes a target herself. Instead of scaring her off the case, she turns into an amateur detective who will not rest until she solves the mystery. I am usually good at figuring out "who done it" in mystery novels, but this story had so many twists and turns that I was surprised at its hair-raising conclusion.
Tess not only has to face her mortality when she faces snakes, but she also has a major health crisis that could end her life. Her naturally inquisitive nature helps her in researching her disease and her friends give her the wonderful support she needs in facing up to this health crisis. Morgan Hunt's familiarity with breast cancer shows in the sensitivity, fear, strength and dignity that she gives to Tess throughout her ordeal.
The author, Morgan Hunt, has a wonderful sense of humor which comes through again and again through her quirky characters. I also had the feeling that the author and Tess share many similar qualities -- "Criminitlies!" is an expression that Tess uses throughout the book that seems to have no meaning. This is a great book. I highly recommend "Sticky Fingers" to all open-minded mystery readers. I would also recommend it as a great read to anyone recovering from cancer surgery. I definitely would not recommend it to anyone with a snake phobia!
Tess Camillo - A New Delight for Mystery Fans.......2007-05-27
Clueless in San Diego? Not Lesbian sleuth Tess Camillo! Our heroine's spunk and analytical skills are matched by an offbeat sense of humor that kept me laughing out loud. Both engrossing and entertaining, Sticky Fingers is an intelligent yet breezy mystery that left me eagerly anticipating the next of Tess's adventures.
Funny Mystery.......2007-05-26
A book has to catch me in the first charter and this one did. It's a fun book for laughs, & mystery, and yet serious regarding living with breast cancer. I suggest you see for yourself and read the book.

Book Description
Lingerie, lust and hidden treasures in this dazzling piece of West Coast noir erotica. Jodie Silver has money and prestige - she's a buyer for an import and export business handling luxury goods in the heart of San Francisco. But underneath this polished exterior, Jodie has a darker, wilder side. She's an addictive thrill-seeker who gets a powerful rush from pocketing things that don't belong to her - jewellery, artefacts and works of art. It's a potent feeling, almost as gratifying as the excitement she receives from engaging in wild exhibitionist sex - but not quite. Skilled at concealing her double life, Jodie thinks she's unstoppable, but with hunky detective Nick Hudson on her tail, it's only a matter of time before the pussycat burglar meets her comeuppance.

Jodie Silver is a buyer for an import/export business that handles luxury goods in San Francisco. She is also a kleptomaniac. Jodie gets a high by stealing items such as artifacts, jewelry, and art work ... even a simple apple. She also gets a thrill by the darker sides of love making. She has gotten so good at her secret lives that she believes herself to be unstoppable.
Enter the hunky detective Nick Hudson. He is on her trail like a dog with a bone. And Jodie is one pussycat burglar he is determined to catch.
*** WARNING: No one under the age of seventeen should read this book. This novel is considered to be a work of the Erotica genre. There, I have done my duty in warning you. I have made my synopsis as clean as possible. (After all, all ages visit my web site and I want to keep it that way.) There are more "hot" scenes in this book than actual story line; however, there IS a decent plot going on. The "hot" scenes are very explicit, many details. Yet, in my opinion, they are not as long as most books of the genre. I never really came to care for any of the characters, but all-in-all, I believe this title is worth your time to read. Enjoy! ***

X-rated Jewel Theif Will Spark Your Libido.......2003-04-23
This is a very sexy noir-style romp through modern-day San Francisco. The main character is a bi-sexual brunette who knows how to please both men and women. There are many sex scenes, spanking scenes, threesomes, orgies, and more to captivate the attention of any erotic connoseur. The private detective in the story who trails the main character is right out of a Chandler book. Their relationship picks up where the Matlese Falcon left off... Very hot. Very good read.
