Must read manga.......2003-10-11
This is a must read manga, this was the first manga I strated to read, my friend Karleen kept on saying that I must read Kodocha and I finely got to, so far I'm going to be starting the 6th book there are ten books in all so I hope to read them all. So far only nine of the ten are out, I'm hoping by the time I need to read the 10th one that it's out instead of waiting for it like I have been. But back to the story it's amust read for all Kodocha readers or for any one starting out on manga, like I said this was the first manga I started to read, now I'm reading al sorts of manga, it might happen to you too, but you buy this book first then you can enjoy the romanca, humer, and serousness on the inside.
Kodocha is great fun.......2003-07-04
First off I just wanted to point out that the description that Amazon gives you for the book is actually discribing Volume 2. That aside, Kodocha is a great series. It actually makes me laugh out loud. Sana is absolutely insane and it's great. In fact, pretty much all the characters in this manga are insane on some level. It's much better like that isn't it? After reading Volume 1 i thought it was just a cute manga that i would get around to finishing eventually. But after i picked up Volume 2 I fell completely in love with it. Not only is it funny but it's adorable. The relationship between Sana and Hayama is so sweet. Needless to say I will be buying alot more of this series alot sooner than planned. Oh and here is the real description for Book 3:
It's the season of family crises in Sana's world. Her school friend Tsuyoshi, the mama's boy, is now fatherless after his parents got divorced and his dad won't acknowledge him. The real bombshell drops when Sana's mom releases a new book that reveals shocking details about Sana's past. But in Kodocha, even the most shocking incidents take a turn for the bizarre, and this time is no exception.
Kodocha: Sana's Stage Volume #3.......2003-02-03
Awesome book in all! I just got it yesterday and have read it 3 times! I have absoulutely no complaints about this book. The translations are some of the best out there, great drawings, emotional conflict is very realistic, everything's just great! ^__^ These are definite page-turners so beware! I just bought #5 today but I haven't read #4 yet so I have to becareful not to look ahead but it's drawing me in, I'm too stubborn though! I recommend this to the practically the whole family, if you're looking for a few tears and a lot of laughs try this. I guarantee that you'll love this.
Hope this review has been very helpful!

Obana has done it again!.......2006-02-28
Well, her first book was wonderful. I loved how the plot thickened and gripped the reader at the end with a very cliff-hanger-like yet satisfying ending! and this book,is no exception (well, the ending was all cliff-hanger now. :P) Well, in this book Sana and Akito start being friends after an unexpected first kiss for Sana. She keeps wondering why this happened and then she finds out her favorite actress used to date her manager, "Gigilo" Rei! So, after some incidents she breaks up with Rei and well, starts wondering about her love life and how growing up can be painful at times but sometimes it can be wonderful because you can learn from those experiences. The ending leaves you hanging and wanting to read the 3rd book. (So,I'm gonna order it now and stop typing. :P)All in all, another wonderful book. 5 stars! (I'd give more if I could :D ). I'll tell you guys know about the 3rd when I read it. Much Luv, KodochaFreak
JUST REVEAL YOUR INNERMOST HEART.......2005-10-13
Sana's relationship with her bad boy classmate Akito has gotten somewhat better. They've even started to confide and lean on each other in times of trouble. Akito might even have other feelings besides that of friendship lurking behind those oh so amused but frighteningly empty eyes of his! But Sana's heart is with her manager/gigolo Rei and she's thrown into fits of anxiety and jealousy when she finds out her co-star Asako Kurumi is Rei's ex and the reason behind her meeting him as a homeless bum. And it looks like Asako wants to maybe reignite things like the old days!
This second volume was a little too heavy on the serious side of things for my taste. I could read shojo to get this type of experience. What I liked about Volume 1 was its zany and offbeat humor. This one seems to focus more on the characters mini-dramas and feelings and busted and unrequited love and the comedy takes a distant backseat. While I really liked the first volume I found 2 a bit humorless and dull.
Kodocha is the best.......2003-10-11
If you liked the first one you'll Love the second. I must say if you like romance, seriousness and a lot on humor then you'll love this book and the rest of them too. But if your not into manga and anime or one or the other, then yu don't want to read this book. But if you have know idea what they are start reading the first book and wokr to this book ok, you'll love this one like I said, no wait, you'll LOVE the whole 'set' of the ten Kodocha books. If you yourself don't have enogh money for these books beg your parents, just say it's for a good learning cause. Trust me you learn a lot from these books. I'm hoping to start the 6th book my self. If you like the reveiw and get the book I hope you like, wait no love this book.
I apologize for any typos or grammar errors.......2003-05-18
Ah, the next installment in the Kodocha series. I don't recommend this book to anyone who:
-doesn't like manga (don't see why anyone wouldn't though)
-for some reason doesn't like stories that can make you laugh and cry all at the same time
-has depth and humor
-doesn't want to find themselves absolutely obsessed with a manga.
I would have to say that Kodocha is perhaps one of my most favorite mangas out there, and Miho Obana is one of my most favorite manga-ka. This story follows the adventures of semi-star actress Sana Kurata in a shoujo adventure that is goes far beyond that of any other shoujo manga. The main character isn't fluffy and sugary innocent, but wild and adventurous with such a lovable personality. She's weird, and the character you just want to root for, and I think that's one of the things that makes Kodocha so amazing. You find yourself falling in love with the characters, not wanting to hate anyone of them. They are not without flaws, or reasons, everything follows through and in the end you just want Sana to be with her true love (not gonna say who that is though, got to find out for yourself). I recommend this book to anyone who wants a good story, in your face humor, and story that doesn't make children into sweet innocent angels, but shows them as they really are, curious monsters wanting more than anything to belong and grow up, but still in need of someone to take care of them. The relationships tug at your heartstrings, and if anything; you'll find yourself laughing the whole way through. I never cease to find myself amazed at how well Miho Obana wrote this story and how perfectly Sarah Dyer translated it. I love Kodocha and am totally hooked (driving myself insane looking and waiting for book 7 and beyond) and I guarantee that once your pick up this book and read it you will find yourself completely hooked as well. The story never grows old as well, I still find myself reading the books I do have over and over. A must have for any fan of manga, or someone just looking for a good read.
improving already.......2003-01-22
Well, the first review makes it sound very flat and boring, but really there's a lot more depth to the plot and subplots than that. Again, both serious and funny, this is a very faceted book, and, I think, much better than the first one. (More character exploration, less violence.) Sorry. "Character exploration" makes it sound stuffy; it's not. It's just that, even the funny or previously nasty characters seem to take on more personality, more real-ness.
That first review makes Rei (her manager) sound cruel. He's not. He's much kinder than it sounds -- a very interesting character.

If you read one-three you have to read four.......2003-10-11
Like I said if you liked the first three you'll like this one even more. Also like I said in my pervous reveiws this was the first manga that I read, and now I read all kinds of manga, but this manga is just like people deal with in real life. Me and firends can really relate to this manga, our life it close to this except we're not TV stars like Sana. But if you liked the last three you must read this one. Akito is cuter then ever jin this one and Him and Sana get closer in each book, you'll love this one, but what's this Fuka, Akito's first kiss come back to the school is this the end of Akito and Sana's relationship? If you wanna find out you gotta buy this book and fine out for yourself, because I'm not going to tell you, I don't like wasting the story.
If Marmalade Boy wasnt crazy enough.......2003-09-09
Kodocha:Sana's Stage is a very wacky kinda random comic. Think Marmalade Boy only and randomness that rarely makes sense and thats Kodocha. I do like both but they can be complete opposites at times. MB is more dramatic while Kodocha is crazy/silly. If you prefer comedies/paredes to drama try Kodocha. Im looking forward to the next book. ^_^
Great Manga!.......2002-07-19
Sana and Hayama sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G! In this volume Sana and Hayama's relationship progresses! It's funny, it's cute, and it stars 12-year-olds! What's better? Of course I enjoyed this book completely! You wouldn't regret trying it!
Also try: Kare Kano, Miracle Girls, Marmalade Boy and Cardcaptor Sakura!

Must read for any one out there.......2003-10-11
You gotta read this one, Sana has to leave Akito and Fuka to go shoot a movie up in the moutains. While she's gone Akito starts to think and dream about her. Also while she's gone Fuka and Akito go out. What? Who wrote this? Oh, never mind. Like I was saying Sana is also thinking about Akito and how he's doing with out her. She also doesnt no if Skito likes her or not, because after she and her manager, you could say 'broke up'. She doesn't know what love is. Is Akito going to tell her the truth or is this going to be a bad book. What do you think. If you said that yes he's going to tell her. You'd be wrong. He doesn't tell her in this, book, but he gets real close. He's running to go tell her when she's getting on the bus to go to the shoot that day. Akito stops her and says he wants to talk to her when she gets back home. The book ends before she gets back by the way. but if you liked my reveiw then you must read the book, it says more then I jsut told you. Hope my reveiw helped^_^

I love this book!.......2007-07-25
So, now Akito and Sana are an official couple! Everything seems to be fine even with Akito recovering from the blow to his arm...until Akito's dad announces they will move to L.A. and is firm, but he won't give the true reason why he wants Akito to come. When Sana finds out he's leaving, she is devastated and ends up getting an unusual sickness linked to her childhood. Now, her family, Akito, and even Naozumi are trying to help her overcome the "doll syndrome".
A real Review from a genuine otaku.......2003-12-04
This is the ninth book for Kodocha and I was very amazed at the great story. If you like romantic comedy, then this is the book for you. This book is about Sana Kurata, who is a child actress and her kind-of daily life. I know it sounds boring, but after I read the first book, I knew that this was going to be a good series. Trust me on this one, I've read over ten different series of books, and this is a very good one to read. IF you're an otaku(anime/manga fanatic) then you'll like this. If your one of those people that like violence and a story with no basic plot, then this simple story of love, heartfelt, and funny series will not interest you. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good manga.
The 9th Volume out of 10 ;_;.......2003-11-02
According to Tokyopop:
Hayama and Sana are now a genuine couple. It takes some time, but soon everyone gets used to the concept of Sana and Hayama as a twosome. Suddenly Hayama's dad announces his transfer to Los Angeles. Is this the end of Hayama and Sana's magical bond, or will their love go the distance?
I cannot believe that Tokyopop is almost finished with this amazing, heart-aching manga! ;_; There are 10 volumes of this series so the next one to be release on November 11 will be the finale!
This is a great near-ending finale! Hayama and Sana are finally together but trouble lurkes once again when Hayama's dad gets a job in USA. =(
Kodocha best manga.......2003-10-11
Hi, there if your just starting on reading manga, or maybe you've been reading manga before started reading this. But no matter what you'll love the Kodocha 'set'. Kodocha was the very first manga I read, my friend Karleen told me that I had to read, I did I liked it and so far I've been working on the 'set' of the Kodocha, but what really bites is that I have to wait for my friend Megahn to finish reading them. But so far I've read up to the 5th one and waiting for her to get done with the 6th one. But back to the reveiw. If you like romanca, humer, and sereousness all in one book, then this is the book for you, and if you like the book I incrage you to read the reast of the ten books Mihi Obana wrote. She is a good riter. I hope my reveiw help you chose that you really need to buy this book.
Kodocha is the best manga ever.......2003-10-11
Kodocha is a must read for any one who likes a sereous, romantic, and humerous book, yes that's right you get thoes three in one book. I must say after I read the first book I wasn't sure if I wanted to read the second, but my friend Karleen pushed me to read them, so I got to liking them now, but I'm only going to be starting to read the 5th book soon. But I have to wait for my friend Megahn to finish with it, because she's reading them before me and then I get them, and boy is she slow at readig them. Like I was saying here, it's a must read book for any one who likes manga and if you haven't even heard of mange then this is a good 'set' of books to start out on. I also say, if you haven't read this book YOU HAVE TO. BUY FIRST READ WHEN IT COMES IN THE MAIL. If you get this book from reading my reveiw, good, if you think I'm crasy. I'm not just get the book and you'll see you right I am and how wrong you where. Hope this reveiw helps you to make your choise.

Kodocha Is Great For those Not Looking For Blood and Gore!.......2005-09-27
Kodocha is an incredible series that anyone who likes manga-style books should consider. Unlike most of the mangas in America, it is not bloody and gory. It did have a Teen rating for language. The language isn't terrible, it is just that it comes out in strong bursts instead of sublty scattered through the whole book. It is a love story, but it is an incredible story for either gender that just about anyone will like!
AmAzInG!!!.......2003-08-18
There are no words to describe how much I love this series!!! I cannot believe that more people do not read manga!!! ...Well, I won't give ANYTHING away! YOU will just have to read it for yourself!!! ... oh PS. if you like Kodocha you should read MARS!

Fun 2 read .......2006-06-14
This is a awesome book and is totally funny. the characters are creative and likable. I really hope Sana and Akito end up together (that would make me super happy :>). If you are in the mood for comedy buy this series, it's super hilarious, and makes me lol. Sana and Akito sittin' in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Hee hee hee.
The Best.......2003-10-19
I just got done reading this, manga book. Ya, I know it's been a long time sense I've writen a review. But it's all my friend Meghans fault she took so long reading it. Now she taking to long reading the seventh one.But back to the review. It's a must read mange. I'll even give you a sneak peak where they last led off Naozumi's fans attack Sana up in the moutains at the shoot. Well they brack her leg you could say, accually she only gets a crack in his leg, but it is bad. Because they have to film around her, when they can't do that any more and they have to flim the last part of the flim. She goes in and sits down on the x they had there for her. They then start the house on fire and when she's suppose to get out of the house her leg give a sharp pain. She fell to the floor and everyone was worried about her that she wasn't coming out. But she gathers up the courage to get out of there and when she comes out of the house Mr.Ono is so happpy because she got it perfect, he said if they did it again it wouldn't come out that good. You must buy it and read it. If you liked the last book and it left you on the edge of your seat this one will too. So you gotta read it.I hope my review helped you make your chose of buying it or not.
Fantastic read!.......2003-05-06
In this book, we see how truly strong Sana can be work-wise. When a rowdy impediment injures her, she still carries on. During her trials she remembers the people who care about her and their voices. This really helps her through the impediment she faces. In other fields, however, well...she has to deal with those. It's hard to heal a broken heart, and Sana is forced to learn that at such a young age.
Here's a no-brainer: some people get their hearts broken. However, contrary to what I expected, I actually felt their pain and sorrow. The emotions are deep in this book; I was surprised. Of course, nothing can ever be too serious around Sana. Comic relief is ever present!
Naozumi grows up in this book. He does some chivalric gestures for Sana. Of course, Sana being Sana, she doesn't see it the way that Naozumi intended. As Naozumi says, "I hope someday she understands." So do I. Sana may be mature at times, but she can be innocent too.
A love revelation- and then some.
I cannot stress this enough: fantastic read!

Kodo on Omocha is the best.......2003-10-23
Kodocha is the best manga ever. I hope you get this book and read it, it's very good, but she left off when I was just on the edge of my seat. What's going on is in the last one you now Sana and Akito are talking to each other. The nurse comes out and says that they better get back to class and that they can't go there and skip class. She then turns to her right and says you too younge lady. Akito and Sana look at where she was looking. It was Fuka, she heard all that they were saying. Sana runs after Fuka and stops her. Fuka turns to her and says "I now know why you ran to the nurse office". They don't talk for awhile Sana excepted all the offers that Rie received and planed on getting away from it all. Towards the end Akito, Sana, and Fuka got better and started to talk to each other other again, but while Sana was gone Akito got suspened and he was running all night for the ten days out of shool. But like I was saying they get back to being friends when this one kid goes missing, his mother comes in the day he's done and blames it on Akito (I'm not telling why). Akito say's he didn't know anything and he didn't know where he was. Akito leaves to go home and finds the kids diary in his locker. He gives it to Sana that night and she reads it. Sana then gives him some money to go to Lake F, where the kid said he would like to die, because the kid said he wanted to kill himself and stuff. They fine out where he is, Akito takes the train. Then Sana day dreams back to when she was reading the diary it said I want to kill my self because of Akito, No I'm going to kill you Akito.I'm not going to tell you any more you'll have to buy this book and read it.Hope I helped you out with your choice. ^_^

Book Description
Sana gets a part in a TV movie, costarring with a hot new actress, but she'll never get to the studio if she can't survive the bullies at school. Akito "the Demon" Hayama continues his reign of terror so Sana comes up with a crazy plot to put him in his place. Sana takes advantage of Akito's fear of heights and challenges him to a bungee jumping contest! Maybe the world's biggest bully will finally back down.
Customer Reviews:
Great Series.......2006-06-17
This was the first series of manga I read. I loved it! It had me hooked, I would read every volume in one sitting... The characters and the plot are fantastic, and I have yet to find a manga i like as much as Kodocha.
i have to say... (id actually give it a 3,5 stars...).......2006-05-28
(this review is about the entire series)
sana's stage was the first manga i ever read or even heard about. the story isn't bad, just a little overinduligent. the overall story is a sweet with a girl falling in love with the classroom bully (who she despises at first). then the epic love story begins... she falls in love with him, he falls in love with her, things threaten to tear them apart, the find each other in the end. it's your basis stupid teenager love story.
i suppose near the end, sana has sort of an emotional breakdown and it's up to akito to save her. basically it's your teenage story with a couple "scary" parts at the end (of the series).
it's a good story, not a lot to recommend it as something you would want to read over and over and over again for the rest of your life, but if your bored and have nothing to do, it's good for a brief sense of supidity to revitalize your spirits.
**the humor is awesome, i love sana's mum's hair and how it changes every day,
Kodocha: Sana's Stage, Not your average "Comedy".......2006-04-18
Kodocha is a wonderful series. This book will hook you from the very beginning that you read it. It's a shame to see that many people have forgotten about this wonderful series recently, but I'm still a die-hard fan of it so, fans who came to find this book, BUY IT! Trust me, it's well worth your money and will get you hooked, so, set some cash aside for the other books which are also brilliant works!
In this book, we meet Sana Kurata. An quirky 11-year-old with a heart of gold and a role in the famous TV series "Kodomo No Omocha". She was just moved to 6th Grade: Class 3 where she meets the one person who will change her life forever - Akito Hayama. At first, Sana pays no attention to him, but one day, decides to take a stand. Then, she find out there is much more to this boy than anyone could have ever guessed.
The book says "Comedy" on the back and I almost laughed when I read that. It's so much more. The entire series tells a story that all people can relate to and learn from - young and old. It talks about relationships, trust, issues that happen in life, and still keeps the reader interested with quirky bits of humor. Though that is what the book says, take it from me, Kodocha is definately NOT your average comedy.
Sana the Great.......2006-01-18
Sana is an amazing character that believes that she can do anything. The fun part is that she pretty much can. Sana is the star of a show called childs toy.
Shes the type of girl who can stand up to the class bully with no fear. That horrid bully is Akito. Akito is the "monkey leader". Akito is one sceaming boy that makes the teachers cry. Of course our young 11 year old heroine, with an agent, is there to save the day. How will she do it? Read the book and find out.
Kodocha, overall, is wonderful.......2006-01-03
Kodocha not only has wonderful artwork, but an interesting storyline that drew me in right away. The story is well written and the characters are very realistic, making them somewhat easy to relate to. Throughout the ten volumes, my interest never died out, what with all the cliffhangers and plot twists.
The first couple of volumes, I admit, seemed a little on the goofy and childish side, but this didn't continue as much throughout the series. In fact, Kodocha actually takes a very serious turn, during the last three volumes in particular. Overall, this book is, in my opinion, one of the better series out there, and I'd definitely recommend it to someone else. It has made me both laugh and cry at times, and is a story I love to read over again and again.
