Excellent Resource.......2007-09-10
This is an essential resource for anyone assisting couples as they prepare for marriage. Covers topics on expectations, love, communication and conflict resolution. I would also recommend his related resources: After You Say I Do and his book for re-marrieds.
Good and Bad.......2007-08-16
I have liked this overall, but sometimes it feels like there are sooooo many questions!!! I would definitely suggest breaking up the chapters, some of the questions are a little more involved then I expected
ok.......2007-01-16
Not quite as informational as I was hoping. Good for very young newlyweds.
A must "DO" Before You Say "I DO".......2007-01-11
I am currently working through this book in my pre-marital counselling class. It provides you with a lot of insight into yourself while sharing the same with your partner. This should be required reading in High School before we go on and mess up our lives because we think we know it all.
Very helpful!.......2006-06-01
I greatly appreciate Norman Wright. I have been using his materials in pre-marital counselling for many years. He is very practical, very easy to follow, and very biblical in his approach.

A Must Read for Financial Freedom.......2007-09-09
I am not even done reading Kim's insightful and wisdom packed journey through her financial victory, and I'm gaining a passion to get my piece of American Pie! :-)
Women who are either single, divorced or just wish to plan for a worry-free future should invest in a copy of this book. Her writing style is easy and to-the-point, with stories of friends who have made this system work.
I HIGHLY recommend this and also, her husband's book, RICH DAD, POOR DAD (which I plan on reading next).
Motivating.......2007-09-04
I found this book very motivating and I think Kim did a great job in making finances easy to understand. People who thought the book was fluff probably don't get what she was saying and probably aren't investing either. Pity.
The book wasn't supposed to give a step by step in how or what to invest in. It was supposed to motivate, educate and inspire women to start investing in businesses, real estate, etc. She was not at all condescending to women or to men. Anyone who thinks she was in the book probably has a huge chip on the shoulder to begin with. Another pity.
Take the book for what it is. I'm grateful that she wrote the book and shared her insight. She didn't have too. She could have just kept all the knowledge to herself.
P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!!.......2007-08-21
Another new bestseller which I love and recommend - How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You
Both books are fascinating!
Stupid Book.......2007-08-17
Sorry, really disliked it. Like the Rich Dad books and the Rich Dad game, Cashflow. Sorry, this book is terrible.
Every Womans' Library.......2007-07-06
Kim tells it like it is and for women looking to achieve financial independence this is a must read. Great insight into womens basic strengths and weaknesses and inspiration given on how to change our thinking in order acquire the success we want to gain.

Do I Really Have to Teach Reading?: Content Comprehension, Grades 6-12.......2007-05-08
This book is excellent. The skills are great if you are teaching social studies and other curricula that involves reading. It teaches students how to break the information down and deal with the information out of a book that is above a student's reading level.
Nice read, could use more concrete lessons.......2007-01-04
As an English teacher, this was a useful read. The chapters were short, and there were nice teaching suggestions at the end of the chapters. However, I would have liked to have seen more concrete lesson plans and blackline masters. I had to read this book for a class, but I will definitely hang on to it as an instructional resource.
Love it, so I have to buy it..........2006-05-02
I'm currently facing the end of my first year teaching, and I'm already looking forward to the new beginnings of next year. As a "newbie", I picked this book up from my school's professional library and fell in love with its conversational writing style and practical ideas. Frustrated by the fact that I can't write in the school's copy, I'm now buying my own. You should too.
Great book for new teachers!.......2006-04-17
This is a very great, practical, realistic book. It is a very easy read, and is only 120 pages total. If you already know alot about reading comprehension, it is nothing earth-shattering, and you may only pick up a few things from it. But, if you are a relatively new teacher, this book could help you significantly. Tovani's writing is very simple, easy to follow, and straightforward, and you can tell she is still a classroom teacher and not some out-of-touch researcher, since all her tips are very practical. Even if you already know alot about comprehension, this book will probably give you a few new things to think about, and it can easily be read in one weekend. It will not be a waste of your money!!
Do I Really Have to Teach Reading? Content Comprehension, Grades 6-12.......2006-02-21
This book is short and to the point but filled with valuable information for teachers who want to strengthen reading comprehension in their classrooms. I highly recommend this book as a starter text for both teachers who are motivated to learn more about content area reading and those who may be hesitant. It's a great title for a collegial study group.

Customer Reviews:
If diets haven't worked, Definately Try This!.......2007-08-02
I have been waiting my entire life for this book! I have been on many diets and read many diet and nutrution books. This book teaches you what all those thin people naturally do. It explains why diets don't work and how they set us up to flucuate between restrictive eating and over eating by depriving us and how that messes up our metabolism setting us up for failure. It teaches that All Foods Fit and how to live an Active Lifestyle with out punishing ourselves with food and exercise. It even touches on how to cope with Emotional Eating however, I do still believe that there are deeper psychological reasons why we emotionally overeat and some may need further work in this area with a professional. I did find the nuturitional and exercise information news that I already knew, but she helps clarify some misconceptions around some of the diets out there. I highly recommend taking the 8 week teleclass on their website - It helps incorporate all of the tools in this book and is definately worth the money -(After all aren't you worth it?). I highly recommend this book over any other diet/nutrition book out there! I will be getting rid of all of my other diet books on my shelf and incorporating all of the tools for life.
same material, but more difficult to read ..........2007-08-01
There are many books out on intuitive eating, and this is one of them. The ideas laid out in the book are not new, but are very good. I have read many books on intuitive eating, and have found others (Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works, The Rules of "Normal" Eating: A Commonsense Approach for Dieters, Overeaters, Undereaters, Emotional Eaters, and Everyone in Between!, Fat Is a Feminist Issue, Why Weight? A Guide to Ending Compulsive Eating) much easier to read. This book is highly repetitive. There are eight chapters in the book, and each one deals with eating, nutrition, and exercise. I think this format would work better as a class, in which there was repetition at each session. As a book, however, it didn't work for me. Furthermore, as a person who has been hyper-focused on my eating for most of my life, I know more about nutrition and exercise physiology than most experts, having started reading peer-reviewed research on these areas at an early age. I don't need assistance understanding nutrition and exercise facts. I need help understanding how to eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm not.
So, while this book has some valuable information, I think that there are books that lay out the same information in a much more accessible format.
A life changing book!.......2007-07-14
This book will change your attitude about Food. "Am I hungry" gives the principles and foundation to build healthy eating habits but most importantly healthy thoughts! It is a book that I would recommend to anyone who does not need another diet, or quick fix, but is wanting to start from deeper levels and learn to understand why we use food to cope with every emotional, physical trigger that stimulates the desire to eat. I will continue to study from this book, and the most simple yet truly life changing question I learned was to ask myself before eating, "Am I hungry?" This book is the best, and taking the classes with the book are even better!
Am I Hungry?.......2007-06-03
She provides common sence practical, useable information. No special foods or costly products, no miracle pill, just what works. Easy to read.
Freedom from Dieting.......2007-03-21
High praise for Michelle May's book Am I Hungry? What to Do When Diets Don't Work. I have been on various diets for most of my life always struggling. Am I Hungry? is the most logical approach to weight management that I have ever seen. The book is very informative on many levels. It addresses the root causes of overeating, gives practical strategies and tools to overcome eating for reasons other than true hunger.
I am now liberated from the cycle of dieting and overeating. I will continue to use this book as a very important resource to continue living a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.

THIS BOOK "SAVED MY MARRIAGE".......2004-04-02
There are three of you in a marriage. YOU, ME and US. All three need to be happy. This book can get you there. It saved our marriage.
A profound, important, and implication-rich book.......2002-02-07
For me this book is one of the most profound and important books I have ever read about relationships and communication. Although it is written as a book about marital relationships, it has implications for every kind of relationship, and not only intimate or dyadic ones. And, although it is written as a pop psychology book, I think it makes a real contribution to the social-scientific understanding of relationships and communication -- that is, it stands up well as a general model of communication and relationship. I think it is a great book and would be of great value not only to those trying to solve relationship problems but to those wanting to understand the ways in which self and relationship are intertwined in general. It illuminates all of the areas of one's life in which one communicates with others and, as another reader said, can be as valuable for understanding past relationships as for dealing with present ones.
Excellent, excellent book........2002-01-29
This book has really come to the rescue in my life. I am 24 and my partner 21. We've been together 8 months and started having conflicts after moving in together about 2 months ago. After a big fight one day, she brought this book home and we agreed to read it together every day.
Since then, there's been a massive change for us. A difficult change too, but so worthwhile. Margie and Jordan are really great people, and they make the book funny, informative and loving, but strong enough to shake you up. It's just so great... learning to learn is difficult, but ultimately incredibly rewarding. 1000 stars!
Buy this book!.......2000-09-23
If you are having conflicts in your relationship, I cannot recommend a better book for helping understand your own reactions to your partner's behavior. This book shed enormous light on my relationship. That relationship ultimately fell apart, but this book helped me to understand why.
Book Description
Thought-provoking questions that challenge and inspire couples to build a lasting, intimate relationship.
When Susan Piver's husband, Duncan, proposed, her first impulse was to break up with him. "How does one enter into marriage knowing that almost half of all couples these days get divorced?" she thought in a panic. "Suppose he wants to live somewhere I hate? What if I wish we had ten times more money than he wishes for, or he wants to spend more time with his family than I do?"
One by one, she and Duncan answered these questions and many more, alternately delighted, appalled, infuriated, and mystified by the other's responses. In exploring each area of uncertainty, Piver learned something about her husband-to-be, herself, and their relationship. Focusing on key areas of married life, such as home, money, work, sex, community and friends, family, and spirituality, her list of questions became the basis for this book.
The Hard Questions should be required reading for engaged couples, newlyweds, and those in long-term relationships. It is a simple yet profound tool that will challenge and inspire couples to gain a deeper understanding of each other and build a lasting, intimate relationship.
"This book of hard questions and exercises for couples is innovative and exciting." --Andrew Weil, M.D.
"Susan Piver is a deeply intuitive and innovative thinker. She has both tenderness and acuity regarding what concerns us. I could not recommend her more highly." --Julia Cameron
Customer Reviews:
Great Book.......2007-06-26
I have read many of the comments and I would disagree with those that 'say' this is not a 'good book'. This is probably one of the best 'pre-marriage' books because the average couple has not discussed every topic in this book i.e. 'Where will you spend your holidays?". Believe it or not, this has spoiled many a new couple's marital bliss and they appear as deers in the headlight behind the question.
For those that think it was a waste of time, then pass the book on to your friends who did not have as much knowledge about getting to know someone, especially those that spent their courtship in bed vs getting to really know their potential spouse!
What a waste of time!.......2007-04-10
I picked up this book from the library for my fiance and I to read together, and it was extremely disappointing. I totally agree with other reviewers who write that the questions included in the book are not as stimulating as the author thinks them to be.
The questions in this book are things that, really, should have come up in conversation by now if you are in any kind of serious adult relationship. Plus, they are too specific and not open-ended enough to truly stimulate any kind of conversation. Most of the questions can be answered with a single-word answer. The relatively open-ended questions are usually follwed by numerous suggestions by the author. ("What surrounds the house? Neighbors? Trees? Shopes and museums? The ocean? A gated community? Acres of underdeveloped land?") It's as if the author is instructing an activity for a group of kindergarteners, as if she doesn't trust us to come up with any good ideas of our own.
Speaking of the author, she introduces each chapter (though they are very self-explanatory) with a lengthy explanatory section that is over-the-top spiritualized and poeticized. It's really annoying.
Really, it's just not a good book!
From a Wedding Consultant.......2007-04-06
As a wedding consultant, I like to give this book to couples as I first meet with them. Most of them are surprised at the gift, but this is a great book for making sure that the couple has discussed some of the things that are going to come up in their marriage.
I like how the book brings up questions that the couple might not have thought about or thought through. The questions are an easy way to open discussions without finger-pointing.
After all. . . the wedding is a day, the marriage is a lifetime.
The Hard Questions: 100 Essential Questions to Ask Before You Say "I Do".......2007-01-09
Great book!
Worst relationship book ever.......2006-08-11
I agree with the last reviewer, the questions in this book are ones that maybe you would ask someone in the first month or so of dating but after that if you have any type of conversation skills you would have already found out the answers to 99% of the questions. Don't waste your money.

Book Description
In this concise yet information-packed bookwhich you can listen to on the enclosed CD or read at your leisurebestselling author Louise L. Hay shows you that you "can do it"that is, change and improve virtually every aspect of your lifeby understanding and using affirmations correctly.
Louise explains that every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation. Even your self-talk, your internal dialogue, is a stream of affirmations. You're affirming and creating your life experiences with every word and thought. Your beliefs are merely habitual thinking patterns that you learned as a child, and many of them work very well for you. But other beliefs may be limiting your ability to create the very things you say you want. You need to pay attention to your thoughts so that you can begin to eliminate the ones creating experiences that you don't want.
As Louise discusses topics such as health, forgiveness, prosperity, creativity, relationships, job success, and self-esteem, you'll see that affirmations are solutions that will replace whatever problem you might have in a particular area.
By the end of this book, you'll be able to say "I can do it" with confidence, knowing that you're on your way to the wonderful, joy-filled life you deserve.

Wonderful CD.......2007-08-23
I listened to this CD in my first phase of healing from PTSD. It was soothing, and wonderful. I focussed on the positive. I made myself the positive affirmations.. and I promise you, I believed in them and they worked. I am so amazed. I also liked the Secret DVD, but this book from Louise Hay was more manageable. I didn't use the book as much as the CD. I just put it in my car and passively listened to it. I hope it gives you healing and positive energy!!
Please listen to the CD for a few weeks.......2007-06-17
It was hard to listen to at first, I was alone and I giggled. But kept an open mind and now I'm so glad I did. The whole thing is great but the biggest change in my life was how I view stress now. My shoulders aren't in my ears anymore. I feel so much better and I hope you will too.
Non-essential, but a treat just the same.......2007-05-13
I found these in a gift shop and bought them for a friend. When she opened them, the first card SHE picked reasonated with her. Browsing through them myself, I found two that were definitely MEANT for me. They aren't stocked many places, although Hay's other books can be found in many alternative/health type stores. They are great as meditation cards, journal inspirations, or "just" affirmations.
THE BEST BOOK AND CD SET THAT LOUISE HAY HAS EVER WRITTEN! IT REALLY WORKS!.......2007-04-26
In my opinion, everything that Louise Hay has written has been wonderful. Her very simplistic and down to earth writing really works for me. Since 1988, I have read Louise's books and listened to her tapes and CD's. When I first listened to this CD and read the book, I was amazed. This CD/Book set gives you practical help in everyday living and letting go of negative thoughts and old beliefs. And because I feel that Louise Hays teachings, CD's and books really work for me, I own 14 of them! And This CD really works for me and I have it to use when needed. Thanks Louise!
Wonderful affimations.......2007-03-21
The affirmations are really uplifting and give you a perspective on how life really can be. If you read enough of these affirmations on a daily basis, you start to believe them. Create your own positive reality with the help and guidance from this book.

Fun Charlie & Lola activity book!.......2007-07-09
I bought this for my 4-1/2-year-old, and she loves it! It has the classic Charlie & Lola style, but with things to color and fill in. It has suggestions to try adding fabric and paper to create a picture like the ones in the Charlie & Lola books and shows. An excellent buy--this has generated a lot of creative play time in our house!

"A life without direction is a life without passion," says motivational specialist, therapist, and career counselor Barbara Sher. In I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was, a sort of broader, less dense, and less intimidating version of What Color Is Your Parachute?, she reveals how to "recapture long lost goals, overcome the blocks that inhibit your success, decide what you want to be, and live your dreams."
This is a perfect book for new college graduates or anyone sick and tired of languishing in a dead-end job or relationship--yet reluctant to make drastic life changes due to uncertainty about what would actually inspire them. I Could Do Anything combines the I'm-not-buying your-excuses inspiration of Dr. Laura Schlessinger with the soothing, analytic encouragement of Dr. Martin Seligman in his classic Learned Optimism. In other words, Sher will pick you up off your butt and get you moving. She's included enough self-analytical exercises in here to save you hundreds of dollars in therapy.
Whether you're looking to make improvements in your job or personal life, Sher will teach you how to determine what your goals are, and how to successfully reach them--even if right now the only thing you know is that you're vaguely to very unhappy and haven't the foggiest idea what to do with yourself.
Book Description
Isn't It Time You Followed Your Real Dreams?
This extraordinary book is designed to help you achieve them. In it, Barbara Sher goes beyond the groundbreaking principles introduced in her phenomenal number one best seller, Wishcraft. Here she adds an important new element to the practical advice, success secrets, and motivational techniques that have transformed so many lives... because thousands of people have told her that they can't get what they want because they just don't know what they want.
Do those words sound familiar? If so, you have a common problem, and there is a solution. And Barbara Sher has a surprise for you. You Do know what you want. Your life is filled with clues. Everything you do, or don't do, has a good reason behind it. With profound wisdom and reassurance, she helps you peel away the layers, reveal your true hopes and aspirations, and discover exactly what has been holding you back. Because whatever it is Can Be Removed.
Customer Reviews:
MyBestLifeCoach Applauds this Book.......2007-10-05
As a life coach, I find that most people really do know what they want in life. There is a subset of folks who truly have no clue; this is an excellent resource for them. I find that most confusion about life goals does come from resistance to declaring, "I want this". Ms. Sher deals with these issues beautifully in her book, and I use many of her ideas in my coaching work with clients. All of Barbara Sher's books are an excellent vehicle for stimulating change, but many people will need a life coach to move through the change process.
"I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was" might be your answer.......2007-08-06
Steve Jobs' commencement speech at Stanford University. In it, he says the advice we've all heard a thousand times:
"You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do." - Steve Jobs
Barbara Sher has some excellent books, DVDs, CDs and seminars on helping you to find your passion. Get your hands on everything that you can until one of them turns on that light bulb and you discover what that passion is and then do everything in your power to follow.
One example she offers: You have a passion for ice skating and competing, but you are not quite good enough to make it professionally. Well, there are still alternatives. Go to work for the Ice Follies in some capacity that keeps you close to your passion. Take a position in sales with a manufacturer of ice skates, etc. You get the idea.
You have to work hard at this and try to think out of the box. Let Barbara Sher help you step by step.
If Barbara is not the answer for you, don't stop looking or you may follow my true story below.
In my youth, after leaving my hometown, I read all of the books and listened to all of the tapes PMA, success, motivation, sales and on and on and they helped.
But, "If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be and what would you be doing?" Traveling on a sailboat through out the South Sea Islands didn't seem like it was going to make me a fortune or support my family. It is still necessary to be pragmatic.
So, what do you think happened? I did what probably 99% of the population does. I went to work for a large corporation and at the end of nearly 5 years I realized this wasn't for me. I had been transferred 5 times in 5 years, San Francisco to Houston to Philadelphia to Houston to Los Angeles and finally to San Diego. But, the reality set in. What was I trained to do? The answer was, since I had been the general manager of a national collection agency with branches across the United States, I would open a collection agency. That's what I knew and I knew I was good at it. And, I knew I could make good money doing it.
And, all of a sudden, I was the President of my own company, small though it might have been at the time.
But, then the frightening reality set in, I hated what I was doing. I didn't look forward to getting up each morning and racing into the office and I hated the overwhelming stress that came with being the President of my own company . But, of course, now I was in my late forties so what was I going to do? The only practical thing was to continue going in to a job I hated and tough it out until retirement time. My life had flashed before my eyes and twenty five years had gone by, unfulfilled, unsatisfied and day by day.
The point is that this is what happens to most of us in life. We get rapped up in the day to day routine, the need to make enough money to pay our bills and raise our children and then all of a sudden, it is over. The children have grown and there we are.
I had essentially done the same thing, but I left Spokane, Washington after high school and had been introduced to a whole other world, one with goals, goal setting, big dreams, Zig Ziglar`s, Brian Tracey`s, etc.
What I lacked was the single most important thing of all, finding my passion and following it. And, finally I discovered "I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was" by Barbara Sher which was recommended by a close, successful friend. Now, I am recommending it to you.
Best Book I Ever Read!.......2007-07-15
This book covered every question I could think of about life transition like: (1)What do I really love and what do I want to do with the rest of my life? (2)What's keeping me from moving forward in my life? (3)What is resistance and where does it come from? (4)What part of me is my real-self and why has it been in hiding so long? (5)Why action is better than analysis when I'm in a low mood? (6)How to move beyond a hurtful past. (7)How to overcome narcissistic tendencies. (8)How to claim and create a new life for myself.
Barbara Sher demonstrates how understanding that there is a reason for everything and finding that reason, can literally transform one's life. She encourages compassionate understanding as opposed to deep analysis of problems. She supplies creative, fun exercises that help target and clarify the answers to a myriad of questions. Her suggestions are priceless, like how to create your own support system.
This book is an artful fusion of creative career counseling, wise therapy, motivational inspiration and plain old common sense teaching. I've never seen so much information given away in one book. You'd think it would have taken her a lifetime to write. Thank you Ms. Sher for the best book I have ever read!
Inspiring.......2007-04-28
Inspiring. Soemthin to keep you thinking about your life choices. You have to do the work though. There is no book out there that will do it for you.
Great read & I also recommend..........2007-01-04
I credit Sher's book with my new successful career choice. Her book was recommended by my career counselor. I dug deep, poured my heart into the exercises and came out with a career choice of sales & marketing. (I work for a leading environmental consulting company & my choice has been financially rewarding).
Another book also recommended by my career counselor and one I highly recommend is
The Sales Adventure Guide. Since I used Sher's book to make the sales career choice - I needed a book that would provide real insight and teach me how to go about "sur-thriving" in the sales world. If you are considering working in sales or marketing - definitely consider this (The Sales Adventure Guide) book.
All the best.
