Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

gossip, cheap gossip........2006-06-15
This is a cheap work from Wendy Leigh, considering her career at BBC Televison, one would think is will be a good book, but no, is just a show of cheap attacks on Arnold, no true facts, just cheap gossip. Trough the book it feels as the writer had a crush on Arnold but it did not work out , now she tries to satle some scores. All it comes to mind is : junk. After reading it , one will loose it's ability use common sense from the book's bad influence.
Arnold, America, Ambition.......2006-01-31
I was intrigued to read this book when I learned the biographer was prevented from appearing on ABC's Good Morning America by Arnold's publicist, the all powerful Pat Kingsley. It is a well researched and written book with no agenda. I held back a star because his journey to America was fascinating and the hunt is more exciting than the kill. It made me respect him more what sacrifices he made to come to this country and I pass no judgement about being a "boy toy" to a septegerian Spanish prince as a means to get out of Austria. Even it was only posing, and no touching. He used whatever he had to get to America. He has nothing to be ashamed of and his children will know if he did not do what he did they would not be here to judge him. It was a big mistake to kill this book it will one day idemnify him as a dreamer who took action.
the real arnold.......2004-03-20
there is a reason why you can't find this book when you type in arnolds name on amazon.com. this book is an unauthorized, unpublicized invesitigative report at the real arnold, the one that does not want to have his million dollar image and governorship ruined by sexual scandal, steroid use and various other elements that make him HUMAN. this book is the real deal about arnold, the one he does not want you to read, the one that is not being published, the one you had trouble finding.
Flaws and Triumphs.......2002-12-04
I've been reading about Arnold since I was 18 in 1972. His bodybuilding accomplishments are legendary and now he is a famous movie star. Leigh didn't necessarily dig for negative stuff on Arnold; she wrote what appears to be are the facts of his life. No one is perfect and each of us has comments and experiences we'd rather the world did not hear about. It's all part of Arnold's life good and bad but interesting and fascinating as well.
Is this the real Arnold's Life?.......2002-07-17
I'm a big arnold fan, so you know where I
stand on the subject. I've read all his books
"The education of a bodybuilder" ect. When
I read this book I thought all the facts are
here about Arnold's life ,whats wrong?
This book trys to give an investigative
reporter angle. It gives us the dingy
look at Arnold's life, on such topics as
sexuality, steriod use, and even racism!
Look, I don't know if any of these topics
covered are true or not. After all this
is the unauthorized bio of the Austrian Oak's
life. To sum it up this book tries to
bring to light the dark side of Arnold's
life. If thats your cup of tea ,then read this
book!

Book Description
The only picture book available about the father of genetics and his pea plants!
How do mothers and fathersÂwhether they are apple trees, sheep, or humansÂpass down traits to their children? This question fascinated Gregor Mendel throughout his life. Regarded as the worldÂ's first geneticist, Mendel overcame poverty and obscurity to discover one of the fundamental aspects of genetic science: animals, plants, and people all inherit and pass down traits through the same process, following the same rules.
Living the slow-paced, contemplative life of a friar, Gregor Mendel was able to conceive and put into practice his great experiment: growing multiple generations of peas. From observing yellow peas, green peas, smooth peas, and wrinkled peas, Mendel crafted his theory of heredityÂyears before scientists had any notion of genes.
Children will be inspired by GregorÂ's neverending search for knowledge, and his famous experiments are easy to understand as an introduction to genetics.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful!.......2007-09-24
Everything in this picture book is wonderful: the illustrations, the tone of the text, the amount of biographical and scientific information. This will serve as a fabulous introduction to Mendel's innovative scientific work on genetics for a 5th or 6th grader's science curriculum, or for just general family's enjoyment!
A true biography that reads with the excitement of fiction........2006-11-06
How does genetics work? Gregor Mendle was fascinated by passed-along traits all his life, and overcame poverty to found the science of genetics. He lived the life of a friar and put together an experiment involving growing multiple generations of peas. Kids in grades 3-4 will delight in a true biography that reads with the excitement of fiction.

Book Description
Prater Violet concerns the filming of an unashamedly romantic and commercial musical about old Vienna. It is a stinging satirical novel about the film industry, trifling studio feuds, and the fatuous movie Prater Violet, which, ironically, counterpoints the tragic events on the world stage as Hitler's lengthening shadow falls over the real Vienna of the thirties. At its center are vivid portraits of the mocking genius Friedrich Bergmann, the imperious, dazzlingly witty Austrian director, and his disciple, a genial young screenwriter-the fictionalized Christopher Isherwood.
When it first appeared in 1945, Prater Violet caused a fury of critical speculation and acclaim. Edmund Wilson called it "a deliberate historical parable," and Diana Trilling's Nation review said, "Prater Violet is the most charming novel I have read in a long time... It is a book written in the author's own person, yet utterly without ego; it is a novel about movie writers which is yet a novel about the life of every serious artist; it is a book without a political moral, but a profound moral-political statement; it is gay, witty, sophisticated, but wholly responsible."
Customer Reviews:
a little novella about nostalgia, film, and Hitler .......2004-09-26
I reread this lovely novel earlier this year. In a way, it's better than Berlin Stories because of its conciseness and the humor is more sophisticated. What had been funny looms like familiar smells over everything when history steps in. I laughed so much and felt so much as I read and that is the reason why we must keep reading Isherwood and slowing down time so that we can perceive when one is being amusing or humble or genuine, without artifice.
One of Isherwoods best.......2002-01-20
For those who never wanted "Berlin Stories" to end, "Prater Violet" will be a welcomed treat. Isherwood's fictions were, for the most part, only thinly veiled memoirs - indeed he plays a part in most without even the contrivance of altering his name. However, whether they be fact or fictions, these stories are original and delightful. Isherwood's adventures in the film colony of London prove irresistible. Each of the characters, Chatsworth, Ashmeade and the great director Friedrich Bergmann, are drawn with wit and clarity. What is most remarkable is how fresh this material is considering it was published in 1945. A very fine and rewarding short novel.
At the movies.......2001-12-02
Isherwood's short novel is autobiographical fiction about being hired to write a screenplay for a movie called "Prater Violet" during early World War 2. There's lots of world politics, of course, as well as the politics of the worldwide movie industry (Hollywood included). Isherwood's writing is superb, and fills this brief space with a lush garden of a story. Here's a quote: "This business about the box office is just a sentimental democratic fiction. If you stuck together and refused to make anything but, say, abstract films, the public would have to go and see them, and like them..."
brilliant and unpretentious.......1998-09-24
one of the best fictional portraits of a movie director, right up there with "white hunter, black heart." and isherwood's quiet, unforced, amused style is a joy.
Isherwood's Best.......1998-04-19
This novel chronicles the making of a film called "Prater Violet" in war-torn Berlin. An interesting aspect of the novel is that Isherwood is one of the central characters himself. The novel is filled with emotions as its characters live their lives in WWII Germany.

Book Description
An intimate and revealing pictorial biography of one of the twentieth century's great revolutionaries. To understand the Freudian revolution, it is necessary to understand the private Freud as well as the public man. This magnificent book, which uses illustrations assembled from family collections and from manuscripts, letters, and published material, sets out to discover the side of Freud the world did not often see. Each photograph is captioned by a passage from Freud's own writing that pinpoints its place in his life. The result is an astonishingly immediate and stirring document that brings to life, often very touchingly, the husband and grandfather, the devoted friend, the comfortable bourgeois citizen, the radical thinker, the collector of antiquities, and, at the end of a long life, the cancer-racked exile from Nazism.

Product Description
Austria, the multicultural crossroad of the European continent, has been the genesis of many artistic concepts. Just as late 19th and early 20th century Austria gave influential modernism to the world in the fields of medicine, urban planning, architecture, design, literature, music, and theater, so its film industry created a significant national cinema that seeded talents and concepts internationally. Nevertheless, the value of Austrian cinema to international film has been long obscured. Austrias important bond with American film is also underappreciated because of the lack of accessible English language scholarship on the early careers of Austro-Hollywood artists and on influential developments in Austrian film history. This first comprehensive English survey of Austrian film introduces more than a century of cinema, following the development of the industry chronologically through the nations various transformations since 1895. Important industry movements, genres and films are highlighted with sociopolitical, cultural and aesthetic details. An analysis of the economic trends that have influenced Austrian film is also provided. The survey considers the directors, actors, producers, writers, cinematographers, editors, composers and other film artists who have been essential to the development and influence of Austrian cinema. The closing chapter anticipates new faces of the Austrian film industry in the 21st century.
Customer Reviews:
Finally!.......2006-03-17
A book on Austrian film history (and what a history) with a fine narrative style and details galore. I am looking up everything I never knew! How something like this hasn't been available before is beyond me. Superb.
A first--and a very good one!.......2006-03-15
What a terrific book. There is next to nothing available on Austrian film on any level and this text provides a solid and very readable introduction. I am familiar with Central Europe, so I know something about Austrian history, but this book manages to weave the cinema into the political events so well that I don't have to go find a history book to help me. The author manages to do a theoretical reading of at least one film per era, which enlightens the discussion on a more academic level, but without boring the casual reader. I was particularly fascinated with the reasons for Austria's no-show in 1960s cinema, after so much production in the 1950s and when other Europeans (including the often production partnered Czechoslovakians) were having a New Wave. The chapters on New Austrian Film is also a fine companion to some of these films that are now available in the US. There seems to be almost too much information here, if that is possible! So, for the second edition, and I hope there will be one, the index (names only; very European) needs to be expanded to include other aspects of the text. I am not crazy about the textbook binding, but its a nicely produced book, with some very interesting stills. I have learned a great deal here and continue to come back to the book often.
Book Description
The films of Fritz Lang depict an entrapping, claustrophobic world in which people are controlled by larger forces. His overriding theme is the struggle against fate and against the traits of human nature that doom us.
His life and work spanned six decades of film history---from the silent era through the golden age of German Expressionism of the 1920s and the classic studio system in Hollywood to the rise of the international co-production. In Hollywood he worked for every major studio except Disney. He made blockbusters, modest B movies, and everything in between. Among his films are classics of German cinema---including Metropolis and M. In America he made some of the most notable crime movies (Fury), noir films (The Big Heat), and Westerns (The Return of Frank James) of the studio era. Despite the different time periods, nations, and genres in which he worked, his films remain stylistically consistent.
Lang (1890-1976), a notoriously difficult interviewee, granted relatively few interviews apart from short publicity exchanges in the promotion of his films. Fully aware of his public persona, he was a canny self-promoter who carefully constructed half-truths and myths about himself.
This fascinating collection covers his conversations about his life and his works over a period of forty years. They reveal how cinema for Lang was an intensely personal art. "For me," he said, "cinema is a vice. I love it intimately. I've often written that it is the art form of our century."
Customer Reviews:
A Stereotype Shatters.......2006-10-26
This is a terrific entry in the U of Mississippi series of interviews with famous filmmakers.
The earliest interview comes from 1945, but the bulk of the interviews are from the Sixties and early Seventies, after Lang had retired from filmmaking. However, he hadn't retired from thinking about film. While his comments on his own works are very interesting, what amazed and pleasantly surprised me was that he was willing to talk about the New German Cinema of the Seventies, "Deep Throat," and the impact of TV on movies.
