Book Description
Beth Moore wants readers to know if God could lift her out of the pit, He can get ANYONE out! She admits she wasn't just a visitor; this former pit-dweller had to be delivered from acres of life-accumulated dirt, bone-chilling darkness, spirit-deadening anger, heart-breaking desperation and mind-numbing confusion. The permanent lessons she learned in her desperation-shared in this very personal book-are lessons of hope for all of us. While she deeply empathizes with the hows and whys of life in the "pit," she continually points readers to the deliverance that awaits. Deliverance is for everyone, she proclaims-no matter how you got stuck, no matter how long you've been down, whether you think you deserve it or not. And in her straight-talking but loving style, she reminds readers that deliverance can begin for them this very day.

Great book, terrible accent.......2007-10-10
I loved the content of this book on CD although Beth Moore's Texan twang could be a little distracting at times. Like all things Beth Moore, it was a very uplifting but stern reminder of the toll this life can take on us and how to make sure we don't get used to the pit we have fell in, slipped in or jumped in. This book has brought up a lot of discussion topics and afterthought. Well worth suffering through the accent!
First Beth Moore Book? It was mine..........2007-09-27
Before reading this book, I had never read anything by Beth Moore. Although talented and driven in her call, her style of writing is conversational and, at times, confrontational. As I was reading this book as a member of a club, I did not put it back on the shelf and suffered through becoming comfortable with a one-sided conversation. I am quite happy that I did.
If you have not read Beth Moore before, give her a chance. Let her "Talk at you", and respond with prayer - He is the one you are looking for a conversation with!
A Bit of a Disappointment.......2007-09-12
I was hoping this book would have some solid answers for me to get out of my own personal pit but all it did was describe many different types of pits without alot of specific sure fire help and ways to be free. I think it's great that so many of you found help with Beth's book, but if "I" had to do it over again, I wouldn't buy it.
What a blessing!.......2007-09-09
Whether you are currently in a pit of your own making or have been tossed in a pit via the wrongs of someone else or just difficult life circumstances, this book is such a wonderful tool to help keep your eyes on God through it all and to "get out of that pit". This is the third Beth Moore book I have read (the first was When Godly People do Ungodly Things and I am ongoingly reading Praying God's Word Day by Day)and she is such a blessing--accessible and solid.
Beth is at her best!.......2007-09-05
I read this book when I was in a pit, myself. Beth's bubbly personality came shining through in this book and made me laugh when I didn't especially feel like laughing. She has the ability to make you feel as if she's talking to you like a true girlfriend and you come away with the feeling that, "Yeah, she's been in a pit too and came out victorious." I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a good pick-me-up and a catalyst to turning to God for guidance in those times in your life when things seem overwhelming.

Book Description
A simple walk through Washington, D.C. began a profound journey of personal discovery and renewal for Newt Gingrich, one of America's most influential politicians and commentators. At the National Archives, the immortal words from the Declaration of Independence that we "are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights," jumped off the page and into his heart with the simple truth that from day one in our country's history, the Author of freedom was not the state nor even the Founding Fathers. Our basic human rights and freedoms were-and are-"Creator-endowed." Gingrich sounds a clarion call for us to recognize that the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness that we hold so dear are inseparable from a sincere and humble acknowledgement that these gifts are only the Creator's to give. As a bonus, the book includes a "walking tour" of Washington, D.C.

America, the Christian Nation Under God .......2007-09-26
This book was another top notch, highly informative conservative-traditionalist volume that speaks the truth that America is indeed a Christian Judeo nation at heart.
It is so vitally important for American culture to return to our moral religious values, and seek the historical truth that indeed the Founders were very spiritual people who upheld very Christian ideals in springing to life the American nation.
While Thomas Jefferson was a Deist (not an Atheist but one who believed that God had sprung the universe into life with little involvement in the affairs of man), many of the founders themselves were personally brought up in the Christian tradition. I can recall the miracle on Christmas when George Washington crossed the Delaware River to storm the Hessian base camp, or his Thanksgiving Day prayer.
One can come to the logical conclusion that the inspiration of the American idea was spawned from the both the secular notions of the Enlightenment era, and the philosophies of Christianity.
Regardless of those extremists out there who try to twist history into something that it wasn't for PC reasons or their own personal contempt for American Christian ideals, there is no United States of America with out the traditions and philosophies of Jesus Christ.
God, the Ten Commandments, & the teachings of the lord Jesus Christ will always be apart of America.
This is one fantastic book worth your time and money.
And if a loser named Peter decides to spam my review with is radical trash, please ignore him because he is an internet stalking pervert. (& no one cares about what he thinks anyway.)
Rediscovering God in America.......2007-09-10
The book is an excellent reminder of the source of strength and wisdom that all our founders looked to as they made decisions concerning the founding of America. There is a clear discussion of the separations issue and the foolish conclusion that our leaders did not want God a part of public life. It reminds us of the importance that all leaders in the first 100 years of the country place on Christian faith.

Millionaire in 365 Days: The Daily Plan to Get There
America is the MOST faith based country in the world....But ???
Newt is such an interesting guy...it is worth reading to get a sense of the history of how our country's founders and there on saw faith as part of America.....buy it, if you have faith in America as well...
Outstanding.......2007-07-21
I read with interest how our founding fathers consistently built buildings with the reminders that there is a Supreme being, God, who has blessed us with this country, our constitution, and our democracy. There are so many nihilists around us that would destroy all of this. Evil does lurk in this world. A well writtent book, succinct but accurate with historical facts.
Great CD!.......2007-07-16
This CD is very helpful for anyone visiting our nation's capitol. I wish we'd had it before our visit.

Great read!.......2007-06-24
All of Wanda Brunstetter books are wonderful. This book was fun to read because the main character was not Amish but fell in love with an Amish man. It is about her converting to the Amish ways. It is informative and yet tells a story you can't put down.
Excellent and informative tale.......2007-06-06
Reviewed by Linda Benninghoff for Reader Views (6/07)
If marriage meant forsaking the only way of life one had known, doing without conveniences such as electricity and modern plumbing, and even losing contact with one's parents, how many people would ever get married?
In "Plain & Fancy," when Laura, a young woman studying design in Lancaster, Pennsylvania meets Eli, a young Amish farmer, it is just such sacrifices that are being called into play. In this compelling novel by Wanda Brunstetter, love is never easy and its rewards are not always obvious.
Eli does not want to become "fancy;" he does not want to leave the Amish community where he grew up and where he worships God in the style in which he is accustomed. Laura, not particularly religious, but head-over-heels in love with Eli, must also think about giving things up.
The novel explores whether or not such a love can work. Brunstetter's characters are deftly drawn. I get a sense for Laura and Eli and their families, and the conflicts that arise between the young couple and these families. Importantly, the book delves into what happens after marriage--and this time in life is also realistically portrayed,
Brunstetter has done a marvelous job painting a picture of two lifestyles--and the difficult place where they intersect. The novel held my interest throughout. The romance was not idealized and the issues it brought up were thoroughly addressed. The Amish lifestyle is something the author has personal knowledge about and it is vividly imagined. "Plain & Fancy" is an excellent and informative tale.

fascinating modern day courtship tale .......2007-02-27
Minneapolis resident Laura Meade uses the phone and her laptop to keep in touch with her family and friends as she attends the Lancaster School of Design in Pennsylvania. She plans to visit the Farmer's Market in Bird-in-Hand.
Eli Yoder works in Strasburg at a store that makes handcrafted Amish furniture. Tomorrow he has rented a booth at the farmer's market where he plans to sell some of the items he crafted at his home woodshop.
At the farmer's market, Eli of the People and Laura of the English meet and are immediately attracted to one another. The rare church going outsider and the member of the Amish church know they must not pursue their feelings, but neither can prevent love from springing up between them nor stop the vitreous jealousy of the acceptable Pauline Hostetler who wants Eli to court her. Either he leaves his church and face a shunning that means no longer seeing his beloved family or she must find God and give up her fancy life to become one of the Plain as his spouse.
This is a somewhat expanded reprint of the third Lancaster Brides' tale though this reviewer does not know how much it differs from the original. PLAIN & FANCY is a fascinating modern day courtship tale starring two people in love with totally opposite lifestyles and belief systems. The story line focuses on each struggling to find a way to a permanent relationship though the adjustment by Laura is depicted as complex it still seems a bit too easy. Still readers will appreciate the comparisons between a Plain Person and a Fancy person while looking forward to the expansion of the fourth story, THE HOPE CHEST.

Annie Zook, the Amish preacher's daughter, is caught between two worlds. Living with shunned friend Esther, Annie longs to return to her forbidden art and the idyllic days spent with Englisher Ben Martin, before her father ordered her never to see him again.
Customer Reviews:
The Brethren ~ Reviewed.......2007-10-01
In The Brethren, the third and final book in the Annie's People series, Beverly Lewis continues to give her readers what they have found irresistible in her previous best-selling books. Set amongst the Amish in Paradise, Pennsylvania , the book opens with main character Annie Zook at odds with her strict father, preacher Jesse Zook, and living away from home. The fact that she has chosen to stay with her banned friend Essie (Esther Hochstetler) to help look after Essie and Zeke's four children while Zeke is being held in jail after confessing to a murder makes the rift all the more galling to the elder Zook.
As is typical in Lewis's books, more than one serpent has found its way into the Amish paradise. Under the settlement's idyllic surface are misunderstandings, grudges, and secrets that even strict rules and authoritarian leaders can't keep hidden forever. The result is a twisty plot that raises questions like did Zeke actually commit that murder, who is Ben Martin really, and will Annie make peace with her father and remain a plain woman or follow her heart to pursue her beloved art and become the fancy wife of her English beau?
Characters play an important part in this story. (As someone who hasn't read the first two books in the series, I must admit the large cast of them, many of whom were introduced in earlier volumes, had me a little confused, though with close attention I got them all straight.) Main character Annie is a vital young woman who doesn't always understand herself, is impulsive and strong willed yet hard-working, thoughtful, and kind. Zeke, in his mentally disturbed state is an interesting study. Preacher Jesse Zook seems the most complex character. While unyielding in his rigid stance toward Annie, he is demonstrably tender with his wife and shows a largeness of character at the end of the book that took me by surprise. Off-site characters Lou and Ben provide an interesting non-Amish viewpoint of Paradise.
The setting is also integral to these books about the Amish. Lewis, obviously familiar with their home and farm routines, describes these in satisfying detail, giving readers a sense of living in this picturesque and simple place. Yet even here progress is making inroads - though the juxtaposition of cell phones and automobiles with Amish life did feel a little bizarre. Lewis introduces just enough Amish-isms into the conversation of her Paradise characters ("Wonderful gut," "purty," "Ain't so" etc) to keep them feeling authentic throughout.
Romance is woven through this book, as is the exploration of other relationships - parent-child and husband-wife. The ability and willingness of the Amish to forgive is a theme that plays a big part in the resolution of several of the story's threads. As is typical in Lewis's books, the Christian faith and its outworking is also a theme that remains front and center. In The Brethren there is a clash of the Amish belief system versus beliefs more in sync with a personal and literal interpretation of the Bible. Various characters risk being misunderstood and even banned by turning to evangelical ways. In the end, Lewis seems to come down on the side of having both - the outward simple lifestyle plus a personal though secret faith, as expressed by Annie and her beau: "They'd made a secret pact, vowing to live out their days with their eyes fixed on the Lord Jesus."
If you've read the other two book in this series, The Preacher's Daughter and The Englisher, you'll not want to miss this conclusion to the story. If you haven't read any Beverly Lewis before, this book is certainly representative of her popular storytelling style - a style that has seen previous books in this series, and this one, achieve a place on such prestigious bestseller lists as The New York Times and USA Today.

A very good read.......2007-05-18
I love all of Beverly Lewis' books, and this is no exception. This is the third book in her latest series. I never thought I'd enjoy reading fiction about Amish people. I like to read fast-paced, exciting stories, and these books don't exactly fall into that category. Until I got used to her style of writing, it was a little slow-going. After a while I found myself becoming so involved in the story developing that I couldn't put the books down. I always look forward to the next new one. I'm hooked!
A Wonderful Sequel-Amish and Modern Alike. A++ !.......2007-04-28
In this third book of the series, Annie Zook is now living with Esther who is banned for taking the Lord Jesus as her personal savior and friend. After Preacher Zook found Annie in the front seat with her boyfriend Ben's car, it was too unbearable living at home. Moving in with Esther was a good choice, and besides Annie was there to help with the children.
Ben Martin after having left in the last book back to Kentucky, discovers a horrible secret that he is adopted and his parents never told him. He discovers he was kidnapped at age 4, and left unattended until someone found him alone. This is devastating to Ben, and he wants to know the whole story of what really happened. So he travels back to Annie and Pennsylvania, trying to find his memories from way back then.
Zeke, Esther's husband, is very unwell mentally. He has a breakdown over his brother Isaac of whom he never did know what happened 16 years ago. Zeke is convinced that he himself killed him. So he calls the police to turn himself in when they come to arrest him. That is only until they find out the real story here. Surprisingly, the body of the person that was dug up from the last book was not Isaac's but those of a little girl. After a lot of searching, it looks as though Isaac is not dead, but very much alive someplace. And when this story line draws to a climax, it is a REAL shocker.
Louisa went back to modern life in Colorado, but she still misses the Amish terribly and being with Annie-and Sam her newfound love there. While going back to her art students is nice at home, she still dreams of Sam. Michael, her rich former fiance wants to start over again, and is just begging Louisa to come back into his life. But Louisa can't quite do that-and knows in her heart she doesn't want Michael and longs for Sam.
When Ben tries to get Annie to commit to their relationship in the book, Annie longs to do that. But the problem there is that Annie against her father's wishes again, wants to turn modern, and Ben wants to turn plain. Not only that, but Annie longs to return to her art, and she won't be able to do that living Amish, and if she marries Ben who wants to turn plain and join her father's church.
Annie and her father have a real time. Preacher Zook actually seems like he hates his daughter and won't hear of anything she has to say. Not only that, but Rev. Jeese seems to favor his sons so much more.
The whole story is the best one yet and all life issues within this community of Amish and Modern alike resolve in one way or another.
Too Much information in one book!.......2007-04-21
I listend to the other 2 books on CD, which I checked out from the library. My Library did not have the last book so I just had to buy it and find out what happened to Annie, Louisa, and Esther. This book what not as good at the other two. The conclusion to this series went way too fast. I would like to have seen the charaters developed a little more, explaining their feelings and creating a little bit more suspense. I needed to find out what happened to the characters because I was hook by the first two books. If this would have been my first Beverly Lewis book it would have been my last.
Very good........2007-04-04
I wish this had been longer; I actually felt rushed listening to it. But it was still a pleasure and well worth the time. I was very sorry to see this series end!

I Loved This Series..........2007-07-05
I have always been curious about the Amish and the way they live, the simple life. So when I found this book at the Library I had to read it and I couldn't put it down once I started. You can relate to the characters easily ie: Naomi a young 20 yr old Amish girl who promises her dying mother she would care for her siblings and to do this gives up her own love life. Its a touching book. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!

Couldn't put the book down.......2007-03-18
This book kept me up until 2 am one morning, it's that good. But, I was really looking forward to getting to the end. This is a wonderful tale of some of the experiences of the Amish. If you're looking for a good Christian fiction, this will definitely delight your senses.
I would classify this book as the type you sit on the porch, with some lemonade, and read.

Very Light Summer Beach Book.......2007-06-03
I was looking for the Daughters of Lancaster County for my granddaughter who lives in Lancaster County and picked this one up by mistake. It was not relevant to an 11 year old so I read it. It is easy reading and I finished it in a few hours. Rather like a simple Bronte sisters romance. I was hoping to get a better understanding of the Amish faith through this book. Most of the information I already knew but there were some interesting aspects of their lives because of the setting. Who knew the Amish eat bologna sandwiches for lunch!
A peek inside the Amish life.......2007-05-18
I really enjoyed this book. I have read other books by the author and this book ties into another book she wrote. I would not call it just a romance novel as it is more than just a romance, giving the reader an idea of how the Amish live and their thoughts and feelings about life and their traditions, like courtship, etc.

Miriam Stoltzfus is a twenty-six year old Amish lady who is considered to be an "old maid schoolteacher" since she has not yet married. She believes her family is trying to push her into a marriage she does not want. The stress from this is causing her to have constant migraines. There are three men who are currently influencing her life - William, Amos and Nick. William jilted Miriam a few years ago to marry someone else. Consequently, Miriam cannot let go of her bitterness and is not open to finding happiness. Amos has loved Miriam since they were children but has never admitted it to her. She believes Amos is trying to court her because he wants her to be his housekeeper and a mother to his young daughter. Miriam keeps running into Nick, both literally and figuratively. He is not Amish and does not respect her people's ways. However, Nick is easy for her to talk to and comforts her during the unexpected and unpleasant events that occur in her life. After a terrible accident for which she blames herself, Miriam feels alone and must adjust her life to accommodate the ensuing changes.
Brunstetter has targeted this book toward adult females. She effectively explores the difficulties of being true to both your heart and your faith. She stresses the importance of letting go of the past and any bitterness you hold so your heart can be happy. Only then can you make sound decisions about people and their intentions. I was, however, a little disappointed that Miriam made the rash decision of marrying a man she did not love. She is portrayed as a strong and independent woman so I would have liked her to find peace with her past before she took this step.
I enjoyed learning about the simple, yet difficult, lifestyle of the Amish people in "A Merry Heart." They seem much happier and better able to handle difficulties than many who live in a technologically advanced society. Including the recipe for the chunky chocolate peanut butter cookies was a cute idea. I think I'll make some for a party I'm having next weekend.
Having a merry heart truly is the best medicine for whatever ails you. It is only then that people can make the proper decisions and lead happy and fulfilling lives. Hold on to faith because God is always with you, even when your prayers are not answered in the way you want them to be answered.

somewhat expanded reprint of a fine Amish tale.......2007-01-14
At one time Miriam Stolfus believed that her true love William Graber would come back for her when he left for Ohio. Instead he never returned to their Amish community, ending her dreams with a Dear Miriam letter in which he informed her he has fallen in love and will marry Lydia Stutzman. In spite of her mom constantly quoting Proverbs 17.22, Miriam has a troubled spirit and heavy heart that even her students notice. She is a twenty-six years old spinster who is often a cross teacher with a short fuse,
Widower Amos Hilty has loved Miriam since they were children, but she had eyes only for William. He married but his wife passed away. Amos raises their six years old daughter Mary Ellen mostly by himself though the community is there for him. Though her beloved momma insists Amos would make a good husband, Miriam believes he only wants her as a mother to Mary Ellen. He has competition with English reporter Nick, but Miriam's bitter heart refuses to let go of William's betrayal. However, she begins to reconsider her values when her niece Rebekiah is severely injured in an accident.
This is a somewhat expanded reprint of the first Lancaster Brides' tale though this reviewer does not know how much differs from the ten years old original. Miriam is the star as she stereotypes all men as betrayers in spite of the males in her extended family like papa proving otherwise. The interesting story line provides insight into the Amish community through the lead protagonist's perspectives and relationships. The support cast adds to the overall discerning glimpse at a "bah humbug" female who begins to understand God's messages of A MERRY HEART after precocious young niece became wheelchair bound.

If you enjoy novels that focus on the Amish community, you will definitely want to include this book on your reading list. Although most of the characters were Amish, this wasn't just focused on the Amish, but also was a young handicapped woman's struggle to be self-sufficient in a community where she was not feeling very productive.
superb Amish romance.......2007-02-27
Waiting in her Aunt Mim's carriage for a ride home, a tree snapped leaving preadolescent Rebekah Stoltzfus wheelchair bound. While physically her legs are paralyzed, no one in her Pennsylvania Amish community understands how thirteen years later she mentally remains crippled too. Rebekah knew within one month of the accident that she will always be a burden to her loved ones and still feels that way as she will never marry and raise a family since no man wants a cripple for a wife. Still she tries to be helpful and does write a monthly column for the Lancaster County the Budget newspaper.
At a songfest Daniel Beachy admires Rebekah's courage but also sees the sadness of loneliness in her eyes; he wants to see her, but she refuses to believe a handsome man like him would court a half woman like her. When he keeps hanging around, though she falls in love with Daniel but she assumes he is either using her to attract one of her cousins probably Mary Ellen or pities the cripple. She will settle for nothing less than a shared love so she tries to drive her persistent suitor away.
This is a somewhat expanded reprint of the second Lancaster Brides' tale though this reviewer does not know how much differs from the original. The story line focuses on Rebekah whose childhood accident (occurred in A MERRY HEART) has left her thirteen years later emotionally scarred. Daniel's patience to court and win the heart of his beloved makes for a superb Amish romance.

As for Rebekah, she believes her condition will never allow her to marry, for with partial paralysis, her limitations would never enable her to fulfill the obligations of a proper Pennsylvania Amish wife. Besides, what man would want a wife confined to a wheelchair that might never be able to conceive a child or properly take care of an energetic toddler? No, a normal life is out of the question for Rebekah, without a miracle from God.
Self-pity pulling her down, Rebekah sets her sights on doing something that will allow her to be self-supporting and less dependent on her family. The pain of losing her beloved grandmother and caregiver has made Rebekah realize she must set some goals and work to achieve them, even if she has obstacles to overcome. Rebekah prays for a miracle from God--a way to become self-supporting.
Knowing her love of flowers, Cousin Mary Ellen suggests operating a greenhouse. Rebekah loves the idea, and the family, along with a few friends, enthusiastically pitches in to build the greenhouse very near the Stoltzfus' home, completely wheelchair accessible of course. Rebekah works hard in her new greenhouse business, as word of "Grandma's Place," the name Rebekah has chosen for her business, travels around the close knit Amish community of Lancaster County, and the business is a complete success.
Daniel Beachy begins hanging around Rebekah and her greenhouse, and Rebekah thinks she may have feelings of more than friendship for Daniel. Rebekah denies the feelings, for she knows any type of relationship is simply out of the question for a woman like herself. Rebekah becomes angry when she learns Daniel is only interested in her business and merely feels sorry for her. Besides that, why would any man want a handicapped woman for a wife? It is obvious to Rebekah that Daniel wants to inherit her greenhouse business and get away from dairy farming, his father's chosen profession and one Daniel vehemently dislikes.
"Looking for a Miracle" is refreshing, wholesome, and unpretentious. It is about the simple life of a group of Amish folks and the community they live in. It describes the simple life they lead, their love for the Lord, the importance of prayer, and the high importance they place on the members of their family. This book contains some very important lessons on the things that are most important in life. I give the highest recommendation I can give, plus more, to this exceptional story. "Looking for a Miracle" is Book Two in The Brides of Lancaster County series. It is very appropriate, and recommended, for all ages of readers.
Miracles happen.......2007-02-21
In The Merry Heart Rebekah Stoltzfus was a young girl. Now she's grown, but feels life is passing her by. As a child she was permanently injured when hit by a fallen limb in a severe storm. Wheelchair bound, she watches as her cousin Mary Ellen has fun. She has noticed Daniel Beechy, mostly because he's always there, talking and laughing, but Rebekah is sure he's interested in her cousin. After all, what man would want want a handicapped wife.
Tired of being a burden, and convinced she will always be alone, Rebekah searches for a way to be independent. With the encouragement of her family, she opens a greenhouse. She loves plants, and this is something she can do. To her surprise her home business is a success. Mary Ellen marries Johnny, but Daniel is still coming around. Sure he can't love her, Rebekah is convinced he's trying to take over her business.
Looking For A Miracle is a gentle story of love and rejection, self-pity and strength. Sometimes when we dare to trust, there really is a miracle. This is an excellent addition to Wanda Brunstetters Brides of Lancaster series.

a good success book.......2007-07-22
Cloud does a good job on how to have a successful life. First, you must find what you would like to do as a career. Second, deal with problems by fixing it or eliminating it. Third, create a well thought out plan step by step all the way to reaching successs. Also think about options and see if they will hurt you or help you in the future. Fourth, be proactive, be a person of action. Fifth, be dilligent and industrious by doing something and make progress, no matter how small the progress is. Sixth, Be sure to fix what you hate in a positive way. Seventh, do not seek justice for yourself, seek rather to give mercy and forgive. Eighth, study and grow in humility. Ninth, realize that you cannot please everyone.
Profound, important lessons of life.......2007-05-04
This takes some study and time to read, but the basics rules of life in the book come from decades of counseling and therapy work by this fine doctor.
My favorite and most difficult to achieve? To do the right thing, even though others may become angry or upset. So hard if you are raised to be polite and always try to please. But totally necessary to accomplish what you must in life.
Good job, Dr. Cloud.
The best book for building a life.......2007-04-21
This is the best book I have read for finding success in life - hands down. Any of these "Nine Things" can bring about a great improvement in the reader's quality of life. All of them together is a great foundation for building a life of legacy.
Read it, study it. It's worth the time.
One thing you simply must do: read this book!.......2007-02-08
I have read a lot of motivational books over the years and expected this one to be full of the same type of advice, warmed-over. I was really surprised by how good the book is. I even gave a copy as a Christmas gift to a friend who has a degree in counseling. And in my Toastmasters club, I gave a speech about this book, and one listener recommended it to her book club, and now they're reading it. The book is written in a way that grabs your attention. It's full of ideas on how to gain control of your life and how to handle relationships in a better way.

Book Description
When Hannah dares to love across the boundaries of tradition, will she lose everything?
Despite being raised in a traditional Old Order Amish family, seventeen-year-old Hannah Lapp desires to break with custom, forgo baptism into the faith, and marry outside the cloistered community. She’s been in love with Mennonite Paul Waddell for three years, and before returning to college for his senior year, Paul asks Hannah to be his wife. Hannah accepts, aware that her marriage will change her relationship with her family forever.
On the evening of their engagement, tragedy strikes and in one unwelcome encounter, all that Hannah has known and believed is destroyed. As she finds herself entangled in questions that the Old Ways of her people cannot answer, Hannah faces the possibility of losing her place in her family, in her community–and in the heart of the man she loves.

When The Heart Cries.......2007-10-14
One of the best books I have ever read. So good it is the first time I have ever written an author. I am so looking forward to the release of the sequel " When Morning Comes" I have read this book twice and loved every minute of it both times. I will probably read it again before the next book is out. I have lent it to friends to read and they loved it too. Such an interesting look at Amish customs but mostly a look into a young womans soul. A MUST READ.
When the Heart Cries.......2007-10-05
When the Heart Cries tells a story of Hannah Lapp who suffered a tragic experience. I felt like I was right there with Hannah Lapp suffering along with her. I shed a few tears while learning some Amish traditions. I immediately had to read book two as soon as I was finished reading When the Heart Cries and I am now impatiently looking forward to book three in this series!
Great series!.......2007-09-27
When I saw another series out with an Amish theme I thought, "Oh brother! Another one jumped on the bandwagon." But this is really a good series. I just finished the second one and am anxiously awaiting the third installment in the series. I heartily recommend this to those who love to read the Christian fiction genre...or just love a sweet story without all the heavy breathing!
Best book I've ever read.......2007-09-25
This is the best book I have ever read. You will not want this book to end. The great news is there is a sequel that's already out. "When The Morning Comes". Another great book by this author.
