Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

If you could buy only one book to have as a reference on men's clothes, this would be it!! If you are choosing between this book and A.F.'s "updated" later version, get this one. The updated one has less information and also a questionable section on modern casual wear. The book's illustrations are excellently clear, and it is a great learning and reference tool.

Classic Timelessness.......2006-11-30

This is a quick, one-day read, but a lifetime keeper for reference.

Mr. Flusser covers all the essentials in detail: suit coats; suit trousers; sport coats; blazers; dress shirts; neckties; handkerchiefs; hose (socks); shoes; hats; and jewelery.

He covers sportswear such as cable-knit pullover sweaters and cardigans very briefly.

Mr. Flusser asserts the lines, look, and feel of all fine mens wear can be traced to the timespan of the 1930s - 1950s. This was the Golden Age of Hollywood when men dressed well (Cary Grant; Fred Astaire; Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.; Adolph Menjou; and England's Edward, Prince of Wales). Mr. Flusser's point is that if you want a suit that will not be out of date in five or ten years, ensure it is grounded in 1930s - 1950s style, with emphasis on the 1930s.

The only thing I disagreed with in the entire book was his reverence for the four-in-hand necktie knot in all settings. This knot is asymmetrical and does not belong in the boardroom or office. It is a knot that is to be worn casually to a club or in some other social setting. The Windsor or Half Windsor should be worn to the office.

This is somewhat a digression, but there is more to fine dressing than just the fabric against your body, or the leather upon your feet. Care must be taken to groom the hair inside your nose, so that it does not protrude outward. The hair on and in the ear must be cut. Nothing looks worse than looking at a man in fine clothes and seeing he has a thick patch of hair growing out of each ear cavity. Andy Rooney eyebrows are also verboten. Hair, beards, moustaches, eyebrows, ears, nose, teeth...all of these must be groomed/maintained properly to accentuate the look of fine clothes. Without these grooming basics in place, no suit is going to make you look good. Mr. Flusser elected not to cover grooming as essential to the "total package," yet he devoted many areas of the book to items that were not strictly related to clothing. I feel it was a mistake to neglect grooming.

Clothes and the Man is now 21 years old. It is as relevant now as when it was written. This book is a timeless masterpiece, fully deserving five stars.

I have Dressing the man which is almost as good. Clothes and the man was the first book I bought on mens clothing just as I was starting out on my own 14 years ago and I am glad I did..
Flusser taught me everything I know about clothes and then some. This book is well wiritten with practical advice on how a man should dress.

The Bible of Men's Style.......2006-07-19

I've now read several highly recommended books on men's style. This book is the best out of all of them. In my opinion 'Clothes and the Man' is a little better than Flusser's more well-known 'Dressing the Man' (seen stacked in Ralph Lauren stores). 'Clothes and the Man' delves deeper into the subject laying out specific guidelines to build season-specific wardrobes. Unfortunately the book is out of print now...fairly easy to find on the net though!

A timeless guide to timeless style.......2003-04-19

If I say that this book changed my life, I should immediately qualify that by noting that I first read it about the time I graduated from college and was really setting out on my own for the first time. It really defined my sense of classic men's style, and gave me an appreciation, previously lacking, for -- and an ability to recognize -- a truly well-dressed man.

Alan Flusser, a dandy to the core, makes a great case for his argument that men's style (as distinct from "men's fashion" -- yuck) changes little over the decades. The "look" that worked for Fred Astaire or Cary Grant still works today. Tab collars, rounded collars, suspenders, monk straps, French cuffs, handkerchiefs (aka "pocket squares") no tassel loafers with suits! ... the man who absorbs "the principles of fine men's dress" presented here will be well armed to do battle with a world where "dressing down" has become the sad and sorry norm.

If, as Oscar Wilde said, "A well-tied tie is the first serious step in life," Alan Flusser will help you take a great many paces down that road. Take that step now! It may even change your life too.

Doesn't address fit problems.......2007-10-18

This book would be great for young people but it doesn't address the "fit" problems that I encounter. Being short 4'10", thick waisted. Things are way too huge in rear and legs if I buy to fit waist. Also being older (66)needed ways to alter places we droop.

Way better than the others.......2007-10-15

This book has really impressed me. It has way better content than the Generation T book and the 99 ways book. This book can be helpful for beginner sewing as well. It runs through how to sew as well as some tailoring tips and how to use different notions and cut fabric. It's great! Much more bang for your buck! I found this book through the Generation T book and saw that this book has so much more information other than reconstructing a T-Shirt. A group of my friends and I get together and create new outfits that we go clubing in. It's so much more fun going out in something that you've made and that is original. The price of this book is super affordable so I'm giving it as holiday gifts to my girls. We'll be the bombest chicks in the spot!

I am in love with these books. I've found a new way of releasing stress by sewing. I'm making all sorts of clothes and saving some major money doing so. This book is great becasue it taught me to hem my own pants. I was paying Nordstroms $20 a pair of pants to hem them. They look professional and my husband is so impressed he has me doing his pants as well.

This book has been wonderful for my 14 yr. old daughter. She learned to sew with the Sew Fast Sew Easy book and moved into this book. Now she's reconstructing all sorts of crazy stuff. It's a fun and creative outlet for my kid. I'm happy she has picked up a positive hobby.

Major faux pas.......2007-09-16

Overall this is a pretty good book dealing with silhouettes and proportions. I would give this a higher rating if it were not for a major error. A model who is initially described as being short-waisted and who seems to be from the photograph, is described in later chapters as long-waisted. This to me is a major "faux pas" and a very glaring one at that since I was somewhat confused by the recommendations for her body type.

Very disappointed in this book. I ordered it to add to my collection of informative information I keep in my retail shop. This doesn't say anything new or give any reason to keep it around. I wish I could say that it was a good investment but it is not. The Science of Sexy offered so much new information and old information updated. This book really didn't take a position that offered anything new.

Can't get myself to buy this book.......2007-09-06

I have an extensive library of fashion books. A new one comes out and I rush to the bookstore to look at it, 95% of the time making a purchase. I keep going back to this book and looking at it, trying to get myself to buy it, but I just can't. I generally dislike reviews by people who clearly have not read the book, so it is somewhat hypocritical of me to write this review. The fact of the matter is, however, that the pictures in this book are uninspiring. The clothes are not that great, and on some pages I can't tell which is the before and which is the after. I certainly do NOT believe that this is due to the fact that Neill chose to use real people as models. I wish more authors did, and I applaud all of those who have. I think I will give the book one more try and read it a bit more, as I think "shopping your closet" is extremely important!

Nice to Have book rather than a Must Have .......2006-03-09

From a broad perspective this book is helpful in delineating the various periods of costume. The patterns are useful, but not plentiful.

However, the book has several shortcomings. Firstly it is printed on very cheap paper (this is a reprint version) and the black and white pictures/prints of paintings are very murky and badly reproduced on even thinner cheaper paper than the text.

The content of the book is fine for beginners but clearly the book has not been updated to reflect recent study on costume. The writing style is in the form of an endless stream of tit-bit information patched together making this book a boring read. Furthermore, the book is padded out with period quotations about costume, mainly in the form of inventory lists of costume. This adds little to the understanding of costume and the book should have been more tightly edited. Finally there are just not enough patterns in this book to make it a "must have" title - the patterns are not drawn on a grid so inaccuracies are inevitable. Anyone looking to find a variety of patterns for the period 1600 to about 1850 are going to be disappointed, but admittedly the period 1850 to 1930 is better covered by the book in terms of pattern variety. I will probably donate this book to my local library as it is not a keeper for me. Readers wanting up to date costume information are better served by acquiring texts from the various costume institutes in England.

Essential for Costumers and Fashion Designers.......2005-09-04

This is an excellent book all around, with highlights including dissections of period garments with simple outlines of pattern shapes. Though the patterns are not on a grid, they are accompanied with a scale and can be decently eyeballed for a quick project. Beginniners will be inspired and the advanced will have a handy quick reference guide. A good pattern book, and a nice read too. Anyone serious about costume or garment contruction should have this book.

Basically Important.......2004-05-26

This is the first costume text I purchased (even before knowing I was going to go to school for costume design), and even after receiving and collecting loads of other texts on costume and the history thereof, this is still the best basic book I've come across. And, yes, I actually read it instead of just looking at the pics (of which there are many, many, great examples of historical dress). Although not entirely scintillatingly written (hard to do with a sometimes dry subject such as costume history, it has to be said), it is full of information that I wouldn't have otherwise known (and I've been fascinated by clothing all my life).

Across the arc of the book, one can discern the evolution of clothing, and it provides a good background for noting the changes across the years and why they were made. There is a lot covered within, and I feel it's a great source from which to start any kind of costume research.

Mouthwatering!!!.......2004-01-07

I received this book for Christmas and couldn't be happier with it! I have not as yet attempted to draft one of the patterns, so I can't give my impression of that. However, I am impressed with the detail and extent of knowledge the author is able to share through the text! There is much more text than I had thought, and the detail is such that you can picture the garment, seam lines, trim, and all, from her descriptions! It is by no means a light read, but well worth the money to anyone interested in costuming, fashion design, or just clothing. The pages are filled with old fashion plates, paintings, and tailors' notes, along with sections of patterns relating to the time period discussed.
I highly recommend this book- an amazing read! After finishing it, you'll be an expert on women's clothing!

I can't believe they're still managing to milk the same darn cow. The cheek. What will they come up with next? Europe by geographical area or something like that? I don't see how anyone can take advice from two women who seem to live in 6 inch heels - I know I look much taller (sic!) and slimmer when I don a pair for a dinner where I know I'be ferried to and fro. Or from a woman who must have once been told that she should never wear a bra and should always wear tops made of fabric that makes it obvious..... Please.

Not worth the money .......2007-03-13

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of the authors. But this is just a fund raiser for them between jobs. It took about 15 minutes to look through, and I thought I must have missed something. So I really sat down to go through the book and it took me less than an hour. So dissapointed. At least in the TV series you got a look at several outfits that would suit the individual, but in this book you get a set-up bad shot and then "how wonderful" only one after shot. You get Trinny and Susannah hiding behind wigs and glasses. If this had been their first book, this would have also have been their last!!
If you like examples and photos for every body type check out Bradley Bayou "The Science of Sexy", what a resource of what to wear for casual, career and formal. It shows you how to be all covered up, but looking good.

truly a fun read.......2007-03-09

I found this book to be an absolutely lovely commentary on some American stereotypes, and to contain fabulous advice on how to improve our not only our looks but also our self-worth and well-being. There's a little bit of many of us in many of the characters presented here -- the busy mom who lets herself go; the "larger eccentric" who craves attention; the woman whose best years were in the '80s and so strives to relive them through her wardrobe... The authors begin by assuring the reader that these truly are exaggerated characters, so we can more easily see how a certain style may be, well, less than flattering. Then they show how easy it is to make small steps toward a more flattering and appropriate style -- and these small steps make a world of difference. For the woman who constantly wears baggy t-shirts, sweatshirts, jeans and tennies, they suggest a fitted tee, tucked in, with a belt and nicely cut jeans. The 'before' and 'after' pictures are really inspiring. I especially liked the way they matched up colors and patterns, and accessorized their models (often themselves) so appropriately. After reading this book and poring over the pictures, I found myself ditching the ugly pantyhose in favor of fun fishnets, searching for a bright-colored bag to replace my year-round utilitarian black model, and seeking out a patterned jacket to replace my old standard (again, black.) In fact, every time I read a Trinny and Susannah book, I thin a few more old items out of my closet. (Boxy jackets, big shoulder pads, and anything prairie-looking have to go!) Their advice is down-to-earth and not judgemental. Many of us *do* need to be told that a shoe with a heel can be comfortable, that gym shoes don't go with jeans, that longer hair isn't better if it doesn't flatter your face....this is a book that deserves to be passed around the office, the school staffroom, the family...a real treat.

Extremely Insightful View Into Psychology of Clothes.......2007-01-20

After reading WHAT YOU WEAR CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE, I became a fan of Trinny and Susannah and bought all of their books. They inspired me to clean out my closet and I've slowly begun buying clothes to enhance the me I am now, not the me I was in the past. (It turns out that I was one of those women who dressed like a "lamb," even though I'd crossed the threshhold into fully-grown "sheep.")

When TRINNY AND SUSANNAH TAKE ON AMERICA: WHAT YOUR CLOTHES SAY ABOUT YOU came out, I thought that only one or two of the sections in the book would apply to me. Yet when I got it home and actually read each section carefully, I realized that so much of the advice in the book spoke directly to me. In short, the book gets into the nitty gritty of the psychology of appearance and why women make crucial mistakes, mistakes that signal to the world how they feel about themselves at any given time and what their fears are. Whatever your issue, whether it be dressing too youthfully, as I once did, losing touch with your femininity because of the pressures of motherhood, or simply giving up because your body isn't what you'd like it to be, Trinny and Susannah will give you inspiration to look at your physical appearance in a new way. There's always time for a fresh start--one that could prompt a whole new positive phase in your life. Trinny and Susannah provide straight talk, which is what we need to shake us out of our ruts.

The main thing the girls have helped me realize is that even though I've passed the big 4-0, I don't have to fade away into nothingness. I'm now realizing that I can move forward and be just as attractive and stylish as the more grown-up version of me. In fact, I'm realizing that in many ways, this is probably one of the best times in my life--the time when I have the confidence to dress like a sexy, competent woman. Trinny and Susannah are simply fantastic inspiration and I'm now taking them as my style mentors.

In short, if you read this book carefully, you'll find your issues throughout the book and it will inspire you to look at yourself in a new way.

I enjoyed A.F.'s other books enough to buy this one, although it is not nearly as practical. The sections on where to buy clothes are not only out of date by now, they are also designed for people who have far more money than most. Actually, I don't know why this book was published originally since, if you have the money to shop at these stores, you probably already know about them. It almost seems like a matter of credentialing, but who knows.

I would buy one of A.F.'s other books if you are just looking for a men's clothing guide. However, if the subject matter really interests you, you will find that each of A.F.'s books covers much of the same ground, but in slightly different ways, so that there is value in reading all of them, including this one.

Outdated sure, but still relevant.......2006-04-10

This book, published in 1996 and half of which is a directory of shops, was bound to be outdated months after publication much less ten years after, as it is now. Hence the four stars instead of five.

Given that, the first part of the book is crammed with a precis or summary of Flusser's recommendations that he has used several hundred pages to expound in his other books ('Clothes And The Man', 'Dressing The Man') and makes the book worth the (used) book price.

I do not understand others who warn against this book because they think it is not objective enough! This is a book written by Flusser so of course you will get his subjective view. Had it been written by a committee of tailors, well then, I would expect a more balanced view, but it is not. It is up to the intelligent reader to understand they are getting a product of one man's opinion and then proceed accordingly.

As noted by many reviewers, the clothing fact information is first rate.

The second part of the book on shopping and retail establishments is so out of date in 2005 that I really question whether a purchase is worthwhile if retailer information is primary purpose of proposed purchase. A good 60% of the information on establishments in the US and London is totally outdated or the stores have gone out of business.

Try the library or borrowing from a friend to see if any of the desired information is still relevant before purchasing. This book needs a serious update.

What if you live outside of New York? This book isn't applicable for anyone outside "The City." Buy a book from John Bridges instead.

Overrated book.......2003-05-21

I bought this book a year ago, mainly because of its high ratings. But I was disappointed. I read it once and I found the style of writing outdated and the content not so useful: many addresses where you should buy things, but how useful is that? I don't live nearby these places, and I want to learn WHY you should buy certain things so that I can decide for myself what is good to buy and what not. Such info is given only very briefly.

I have the Rip It! book and love it. I just got this book for my niece for christmas. She wants to learn how to sew and I know this is the best book out there for her. This is one of the best sewing books that I've come across. I bought it for my 14 year old daughter who wants to learn to sew. Going over the projects and the information in this book, it covers everything you'll need to know to start sewing. My daughter loves it and is having fun with sewing. So I bought this book for my girlfriend who wanted to learn to sew after becoming obsessed with project runway. After receiving the book I did a little research on the company. They offer sewing classes to the public in New York City and have been for the past 15 years. I found that they had online video classes and my girlfriend took the men's underwear video. She wont stop making me briefs and I love it. She also made some lacy tanga panties for herself from another one of their videos. Thank you Sew fast Sew easy!!

Happier the Second Time Around!.......2007-07-17

I owned this book for 30 years, but sold it because it did NOT teach how to start with your own measurements to make slopers. Instead, it taught how to buy a basic commercial fitting pattern & then fit it to your own body. Since my body is SO non-standard, that didn't work for me.

I've since found several good books that explain how to make slopers from your own body measurements, but NONE of those books are as good as this one for how to make any style you want using your basic slopers.

This is the very BEST book I've ever found to explain how to duplicate just about any clothing style, collar, or sleeve design you see or can dream up for yourself! The book shows how to take basic bodice, sleeve, skirt, & pants slopers to design ANYTHING else you want to wear.

So I bought it for the second time, & I'll never be without it again!

Excellent intro to pattern alterations for womenswear.......2007-05-30

I've only been sewing for a year, and I was frustrated with the mounting cost of commercial patterns. I stumbled upon this book in my library and was succefully altering my first pattern (a blouse) after a few days. This book is well suited for beginners, my only gripe with it is that it doesn't cover men's and children's clothing alterations, only women's.
But it's rather complete at that: you'll learn to alter the five basic slopers (A line dress, bodice, blouse, skirt and pants), how to select and work with fabrics, how to make most collars and neckline, countless sleeves variations, a very useful and easy to understand chapter on moving darts and turning darts into seams, working with yokes, all kinds of skirts, catsuits and overalls etc... The drawings are very clear, all the styles are pictured, I feel I could make anything I want with this book and probably could copy most commercial patterns designs.
As other reviewers said, this book doesn't teach you how to draft the slopers but smallscale patterns are given on p5 and 6, you can blow them up at a copy shop and then alter them to your measurement.

I disagree with the previous review. The basis of pattern design starts out with using basic sloper patterns. This is exactly what this book takes you through. Once you have mastered the basic slopers (base patterns), then you are shown how to modify the basics and create your own styles. For myself, after I read this book, I have been able to look at almost any commercial pattern and understand how to make the pattern myself without purchasing the pattern. I also understand how to create my own patterns with new designs.

The drawings are out of date, the the basic information is very usable and the slopers themselves are still the same.

I was disappointed in this book. It is really a big book on how to modify commercial patterns. It does NOT show you how to take measurements and make your own patterns or slopers.
