Wow what a book.......2007-08-15
this has to be one of the most facinating books I've ever read, William Buhlman really knows this subject well, thank you Mr. Buhlman for a
fantistic book, I can't wait to start my own journey, hope to see you out there!!!
Repetitive But Highly Recommended.......2007-08-01
The bad: (1) very repetitive. (2) puts journal entries in there that are NO WAY actual entries... it's as if he just needed a way to mix up the otherwise rather dull text. (3) states things as fact a bit much... no discussion about, say, maybe these experiences are just lucid dreams with excellent recall? (That's what I view them as until such time as I can experience it all for myself).
The good: if you want to have an OBE or lucid dream, he gives a zillion different things to try: more suggestions of techniques than I've seen in any other single book... (not that I've read them all, mind you). For this reason, it's highly recommended: let's face it: you're probably looking for a book that will help you have an OBE... I think this book will help you in that pursuit more than probably just about any other single book out there.
The Best "How To" Book for Your Traveling Experience.......2007-07-08
William Buhlman has not only written a book that captivates you from the start with his own fantastic experiences of out-of-body travel, he has taken great care to give end of chapter points that help the reader remember the important stuff.
Buhlman approaches his subject with a positive thrust, not with any of the scary warnings that some other writers use. He clearly knows "who he is" and helps the reader come to understand that we are ALL powerful Beings that can do what he has done. He says right off that we do create our own experiences, so we must think positive to create a positive experience.
Chocked full of interesting and mind stretching experiences, this little book is devoid of extra padding that is useless to a reader. Buhlman sums up his final chapters with guided How To information, but also encourages the reader to explore even beyond the writer's experiences. He firmly believes that "the world is your oyster" and you can create a wonderful, exciting life beyond the veil of flesh that we live here in the 3D world.
One of my library treasures, this book is a goldmine of information.
the ultimate secret! no f---ing way! hahaha woooow!.......2007-06-19
dude!!!!!!! how in the f--k is it possible for us to be able to do this?!! i dont think we are "just human beings"! my god, what exactly in the hell are we?! the main thing i cant stop thinking about is how does the entire world not know? I dont care how intellectual one may think they are; after this experience you will feel like you were an ape. hey, but this sh-t does get very scary tho, i must admit. there's a section in this book that aims on helping to conquer your fears.
un-be-f---ing-lievable!

frieghteningly good book. This stuff is for real!.......2007-08-28
Take heed to this book's warning not to jump ahead and skip chapters. Also psychic self defense would be a good companionship to this book.
astral projected...never came back!.......2007-08-22
This book is so powerful it will cause you to astral project-but then like me,you may have trouble getting back into your body! I was out for 3 days!I was terrified!! I saw monsters and demons. One demon said he would keep me prisoner for 1000 years. DONT try this! My girlfriend,Lulabelle, projected and has never returned! I keep looking for hereverywhere! Lulabelle, where ARE you!!?? Look behind you--QUICK! Is that my Lulabelle???
Simply the best WOULD GIVE IT 6 STARS IF POSSIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-08-10
I had read over a dozen so called do it yourself manuals on astral projection. I came to the conclusion that it was a fable and just fiction. A friend gave me this book and challenged me to read it. In less than two weeks , I had my first real exsperience.
WOW!!!
The book is misleading........2007-08-07
I got the first top 5 astral projection books from Amazon, and this is the first book I got, I afraid --this book is 'misleading.'
Author thinks, what he believes is astral projection, but what it actually is... combining 'meditation' and 'remote viewing.' Author admitted himself, he is doing meditations. Astral projection is not meditations, author obviously cannot tell the difference, and misled many of his followers. Author cannot see his own astral body, and does not believe in astral body, and does not believe in higher dimensions.
Astral projection is a way to exit your soul from your human body, and 'NO'. ..you cannot project while you are standing nor working in the office and project the same time. The book is totally misleading.
There are the actual astral projection books out there, awaiting you to explore. Then you will realize how unrealistic this book is.
My amazing out of body adventure!.......2007-08-05
Ok, this book worked amazingly well. Too well. Here goes. First of all I rose up out of my body and saw the Patriarch, your's truly, laying there. That was crazy. But I had seen myself in the mirror all the time so this was nothing new. I decided to fly around the neighborhood.
This was pretty cool because I could get a bird's eye view of all my neighbor's houses. I saw the Johnson's dog and had to mess with him, because everyone knows animals can see your spirit. Again, this was nothing I hadn't seen. I flew across the ocean then, it didn't take long, and I ended up in Iraq and, get this, I actually saw George Bush, Dick Chaney, and Donald Rumsfeld and they were like shooting Iraqis left and right and drilling for oil. This was way too scary so I decided to fly up higher. So I go higher and higher and I reached this, higher plane of existence kind of thing and there was these other spirits there and they talked to me.
They told me they were called the...ennui or something like that. And they were telling me the craziest things but, they made sense at the time. The only bad thing is I can hardly remember what they told me but it was really important. The most important thing sounded like nonsense though.
It sounded something like this:
Tfel sraey evif sah ylno htrae.
I wonder what it meant... Well, I woke up then and I was back in my body. This was a really enlightening experience but I will never do it again. Try this out but make sure you know what your getting yourself into.
In the end I give it 5 stars because it works but I take away two stars because it kind of messed me up. I gave it one extra star though because the author has a first name for a last name.
Bye now.

Customer Reviews:
Absolute Must-Read Book for Anyone Wishing to Gain More Understanding!!.......2007-10-17
The book, The Secret of the Soul by William Buhlman, is the second book in his series on out-of-body experiences that explains how we can facilitate the understanding of our true nature as a spiritual being within a physical body. This book uses the `real-life' testimonies and experiences of survey participants from all over the world to show that out-of-body travel is not a rare, exceptional practice, but one that is recurrent and routine for those who seek to learn more about it.
In a clear, straightforward manner, he offers the benefits of out-of-body exploration, such as self-healing, past-life revelations, and the transformative shifts in consciousness that can occur. He gives easy to understand descriptions of numerous techniques for initiating out-of- body exploration. He shares with us his beliefs on the similarities of `extraterrestrial encounters' and out-of-body situations and what his version of an `ideal death' would be.
To quote from the book, "The real frontier for humanity is the exploration of consciousness and the nonphysical dimensions that exist just beyond our vision. As we evolve, we will move beyond our current obsession with matter and join the multidimensional community of consciousness. Until we do, we will continue as primitive outsiders who stare into the sky and wonder about our place in the universe." For those who wish to learn more about themselves and our place in the universe, this is a must-read book!
As he states, our spiritual evolution is our responsibility and it takes courage to be a spiritual explorer "to step beyond our physical limits and the prevailing norms of our society and culture". I highly recommend reading this book as it will help you gain that courage to step outside any limiting beliefs and know that you are not alone in your quest for the truth!
Loved it!!!.......2007-07-24
William Buhlman's books are the bomb diggity! I absolutely loved Secret of the Soul and Adventures Beyond the Body. Very well laid out books, easy to read and understand; and best of all, they contain personal experiences from people all over the world. By far the two best books I have read on the subject! Well done Bill!
A Fascinating and Wide-Ranging Exploration of the Out of Body Experience.......2006-11-07
I've read a large number of books on Astral Projection and this one was completely different for its range of topics. The author sent out a survey and received first-hand accounts from 16,000 people who have had various degrees of out-of-body experiences from accidental to controlled, from enjoyable to unwelcome. Buhlman lets the stories speak for themselves, and categorizes the experiences by subject: meetings and messages beyond the body, childhood OBEs, combat- and trauma-induced experiences and transformational experiences. Buhlman also discusses what can be expected from an OBE and what benefits there are.
Chapter 6 was unique in the entire literature of OBEs: could alien abductions be unexpected out-of-body experiences? Buhlman does a masterful job of analyzing the reported experiences of alien abductees and drawing parallels to the sensations of OBEs.
His "Brief History" of OBEs is an eye-opening re-examination of descriptions of the mystical experience, synthesizing historical and biblical accounts from the Egyptians through the Greeks and Tibetans, to the Christian and Sufi mystics, including Swedenborg, Yogis, Aborigines, Native Americans and Shamans. It's all too brief, serving to point the way for the reader to research further, but does argue for the ubiquitous OBE in our religions and spiritual paths.
Chapter 8, "A New Vision of Death and Dying," is another unique feature of this book in the Astral Travel library. OBEs are not dealt with as simply enjoyable anomalies in consciousness, but as life-changing spiritual experiences demanding a transformation of our definition of reality.
The "Art and Practice" section of the book deals specifically with the sensations the practitioner will feel when attempting to leave the body. The trance state is discussed, and the all-important vibrational phenomena are revisited throughout the book until they are pretty much memorized. Very few other books on Astral Projection are so detailed in their descriptions of what you can expect to feel when trying to leave the body. They may tell you what to imagine or visualize, but then you do the practices and then feel/see/hear things and wonder if you're on the right track. For example, the paralysis and vibrations that frighten many people are the very signals of an imminent OBE!
Many different visualizations are offered, and readers can choose the ones that appeal to them, or the ones that they find easiest to work with: climbing, floating, rocking, rotating, rotating, and so on.
Other techniques that may aid the reader in leaving the body are discussed briefly, from drumming and medicinal plants to meditation and brain-wave technology. A chapter on trouble-shooting is very helpful for those experiencing fear or distractions.
Like anything, Astral Projection can be learned through practice. No book can guarantee an OBE; that depends on your motivation and power of concentration, not to mention your ability to persevere through failure and learn from your mistakes. But "Secret of the Soul" is a wide-ranging and fascinating read even for earth-bound souls.
Both book and CD was fantastic !!!.......2006-09-10
This book is one of the best OBE books. You looking for OBE techniques ? You can found more than 20 in this book !!! You looking for protection techniques while OBE ? O yes, you can found them here. How about to guide some one whose dying ? You can found it here too. About similarity OBE with Alien's abduction ? Yup, it's here too....
I also will review CD version of this book. It's contains 4 CD : 1. The Christos Technique (you can find it from other OBE books). 2. The Energy Body Technique (similar with Denning-Philips and Crowleys.. transfer your consciousness to astral body). 3. The Rope Technique (read Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce !). 4. The Shaman / Bird Technique (you can find it in Adventures Beyond the Body..the best, number one.. OBE book!). If you like practice with guiding.. this is for you. The sound (background) strong enough to direct your mind to non physical realms.
Just OK.......2006-02-27
I enjoyed Buhlman's first book more than this one. At times, the information really drags.
Book Description
With more than 300,000 copies sold to date, this is the definitive work on the extraordinary phenomenon of out-of-body experiences, by the founder of the internationally known Monroe Institute.
Customer Reviews:
You will fly away too........2007-02-23
I think you are interested in this subject before you bought this book. Monroe is one of the pioneers in OOBE and books about it. It is well written and will hold your attention and you just might read it twice if it takes you where you want to go. I recommend this book and should be #1 in everybody's OOBE library.
OBE without religious trappings.......2007-01-04
Very grounded and easy to understand narrative concerning sudden OBE and what its potential use for your spiritual growth can become. Good luck getting as proficient as Mr. Monroe :)
Just plain weird!.......2006-06-25
I purchased this book because I had heard of Robert Monroe's work with binaural beats: a subject that interests me. I really wasn't prepared; however, for the strange nature of this book which takes a look at numerous "experiments" Monroe conducted on his own, personal, "out of body" experiences. While the book reads like a science fiction diary, Monroe actually believes in and lucidly describes his journeys. It's difficult to categorize this book but should interest those who have an open mind regarding the world of the bizarre.
A Profound Story.......2006-05-22
This is one of those books that will shift the reader's awareness. Robert Monroe was an average American businessman who spontaneously had an out of body experience. He was unbelieving and thought at first that it was just an hallucination or a dream gone astray. When he got corroboration of his presence at distant places, he decided to document these incidents, look for patterns and commonalities, and develop a technique for leaving his body at will.
This book recounts those earliest experiences, and also shares the techniques he developed. He went on to write other books, and produced many tapes, established an institute to study paranormal activity, and inspired many others to conduct research and share their own paranormal experiences.
Journeys Out of the Body is an important basic work in the field of astral travel and, more generally, the metaphysical perspective on what human beings are, well beyond their physical bodies.
Highly recommended to anyone with an open mind who seeks to learn more about human potential and realities beyond the five senses.
The book that changed my life.......2006-02-02
I read this book many years ago. It was the first book of its kind I had ever read. I was in my 20's and opening to a new world, much larger and more interesting than I thought possible before. Like me, Robert Monroe was a skeptic about "all of this" and he was the perfect one to break the ice for me. He writes in a very concrete, technical way about very non-ordinary experience. This is probably the only reason I was able to read through the book. It is just the way I needed it to be presented at the time. The exercises at the end of the book were very interesting, and though no OBE was experienced, a lot of non-physical vibration and awareness was.
This was my introduction to how much more we are than our physical bodies. Far Journey and Ultimate Journey are must reads for those that liked this book and want to learn more, including the further conclusions of his research. If you still want more then go for it, get the "Gateway Experience" CDs, or go to The Monroe Institute like I did. I always use his Hemi-Sync CDs in my healing sessions.
This book helped catapult me into my deep studies of Chinese Energetic Medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, proving the validity of the main conclusion of Robert Monroe's works --"I am more than my physical body..."

Book Description
Not since Betty Eadie’s Embraced by the Light has a personal account of a Near-Death Experience (NDE) been so utterly different from most others—or nearly as compelling.
In the thirty years since Raymond Moody’s Life After Life appeared, a familiar pattern of NDEs has emerged: suddenly floating over one’s own body, usually in a hospital setting, then a sudden hurtling through a tunnel of light toward a presence of love. Not so in Howard Storm’s case.
Storm, an avowed atheist, was awaiting emergency surgery when he realized that he was at death’s door. Storm found himself out of his own body, looking down on the hospital room scene below. Next, rather than going “toward the light,” he found himself being torturously dragged to excruciating realms of darkness and death, where he was physically assaulted by monstrous beings of evil. His description of his pure terror and torture is unnerving in its utter originality and convincing detail.
Finally, drawn away from death and transported to the realm of heaven, Storm met angelic beings as well as the God of Creation. In this fascinating account, Storm tells of his “life review,” his conversation with God, even answers to age-old questions such as why the Holocaust was allowed to take place. Storm was sent back to his body with a new knowledge of the purpose of life here on earth. This book is his message of hope.
"This is a book you devour from cover to cover, and pass on to others. This is a book you will quote in your daily conversation. Storm was meant to write it and we were meant to read it."
-From the foreward by Anne Rice
As I lay on the ground, my tormentors swarming around me, a voice emerged from my chest. It sounded like my voice, but it wasn’t a thought of mine. I didn’t say it. The voice that sounded like my voice, but wasn’t, said, “Pray to God.” I remember thinking, “Why? What a stupid idea. That doesn’t work. What a cop-out . . .”
That voice said it again, “Pray to God!” It was more definite this time. I wasn’t sure what to do. Praying, for me as a child, had been something I had watched adults doing. It was something fancy and had to be done just so. I tried to remember prayers from my childhood experiences in Sunday school. Prayer was something you memorized. What could I remember from so long ago? Tentatively, I murmured a line, which was a jumble from the Twenty-third Psalm, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the Lord’s Prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and “God Bless America,” and whatever other churchly sounding phrases came to mind.
“Yea, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. For purple mountain majesty, mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord. Deliver us from evil. One nation under God. God Bless America.”
To my amazement, the cruel, merciless beings tearing the life out of me were incited to rage by my ragged prayer. It was as if I were throwing boiling oil on them. They screamed at me, “There is no God! Who do you think you’re talking to? Nobody can hear you! Now we are really going to hurt you.” They spoke in the most obscene language, worse than any blasphemy said on earth. But at the same time, they were backing away.

My Descent Into Death:A Second Chance at Life.......2007-09-05
There isn't a person walking the earth who would not benefit from reading this book. I had seen Mr Storm on TV once or twice, back in the 90's, and was quite impressed. I wondered if he'd ever write a book about his experiences. I recently found he had, bought the book, and devoured it. It hit me like a locomotive. Don't hesitate, don't think twice, BUY this book. You will never forget it and you'll come back to it time and again in the future, I promise.
Q: What is the best religion?.......2007-08-28
A: The one that brings you closest to God!
I had first heard of Howard Storm back in 2005 during an episode of Unsolved Mysteries. Immediately I could tell of this man's sincerity from his deeply profound near death experience. This was truly the first NDE that, after listening to, had touched me so much that it caused another spiritual awakening in my life. His account of hearing voices telling him (by name!) to follow them down a corridor of darkness were more frightening than anything Hollywood could ever conjure up. These strange beings appeared, at first, to simply be in a hurry and behaved rudely and indifferent to Howard Storm. They urged him to move forward with them to an unknown destination of ever increasing darkness. As he continued on with them he became more aware of their malevolence which frightened him. These strange dark beings sensed his fear and they increased their behavior towards Howard. He finally stopped and said he would go no further. It was at this point that the real torment for Howard Storm began!
Can you imagine the horror he must have felt during all of this? Here was a self proclaimed atheist who was admittedly very selfish and used anger and rage to get what he wanted in his life. Now the sum total of his existence was living in a place of utter darkness being tormented by unknown beings and eaten alive! So much for being an atheist.
It was at this point Howard called out to God, a God he firmly didn't believe existed. As he called out to God these raging tormentors began leaving him alone but not without continuing their curses at him. In fact it enraged them even more. But as Howard kept calling on God finally he was all alone in this place of absolute darkness.
Out of this darkness he percieved a light coming towards him that finally engulfed him and picked him up. This light was the total antithesis of what he had previously experienced. Now he was being loved completely in an unconditional manner.
There's so much more to Howard Storm's experience. If you're even remotely interested in near death experiences then you absolutely MUST read this man's account. I would have given this 6 stars but they only allow 5! That's how much I loved reading this book. His story is one of total transformation.
In this hour of our planet's existence we need to be transformed as well. Read this book and you'll catch a glimpse of the ineffable love that emanates from God.
One of my favourite books ever.......2007-08-14
Howard Storm's book answers many questions in my mind about life, our purpose to live in this world, God, religion, and after life.
Although I am a Christian, I grew up in a Muslim countries and have many very nice Muslim friends that I love very much. I just cannot believe they will all go to hell just because they don't believe in Jesus.
Howard Storm explains clearly what God really wants from us, which is to love one another just the way He loves us. What a simple message, yet very true.
This book is the second most important book for me after the new testament.
Disappointing & Preachy.......2007-08-01
I was really looking forward to reading this book and was impressed with the first few chapters. However, Storm quickly got too preachy for my taste, and I actually found it quite repellent. The book started reading like a run-of-the-mill Christian sermon that went on and on. I had expected more. I would recommend Universe of Worlds by Robert Grant. Grant's book and workshop are where I had heard about the Storm book, which sadly turned out to be very disappointing. There is also very little on Hell in this book, though my impression had been that there was a lot more. That part of the book, though small, was interesting and well-written.
very nice.......2007-06-26
Very nice testimony. As howard Strom went from being an atheist, and now is "all about evangelism".
he says some things that don't fit mainstream theology.
1. he says he saw life on other planets.
2. "The one that brings you closer to God" is just a common sense straight foward answer. We know that Jesus is the way, but whether you be religious or not, if you have not the bread of life, you have not life at all.
3. He uses the term "spiritual evolution" Although this makes since to many well scientifically educated people, to the average fundamentalist it wreaks of heresy.
A good testimony to those who can accept it, but very controversial.

Out of Body Experiences could be summed up in Robert Peterson's own words: it's "what the books didn't tell me." Many people have tried to have out of body experiences (OBEs) and are discouraged when things don't go exactly as the books suggest they should. Peterson assures readers that anyone can have an OBE, and relates the difficulties and discoveries in his personal quest for them. His anecdotal, reassuring approach makes the whole experience seem much more accessible than do other books on the subject, which tend to read like textbooks. Peterson also addresses odd and potentially startling aspects of the OBE that the more technical books neglect to mention. Out of Body Experiences is a casual, friendly approach to astral travel that should be the first book anyone attempting an OBE reads, and should be high on the reading list of anyone who has tried unsuccessfully to leave his body.

Hey! My book is FREE!!.......2007-09-11
Wow! Its very cool that Bob Peterson and Charles Tart have written a book together. I feel a kinship with Bob even though I have never met him and never read his books, because both my and his books on OBE were out in cyberspace at about the same time. Charles Tart is, of course, a legend.
Anyway, if you want to learn about this stuff and not pay for it, read my book DO_OBE. If you google it you can find a copy.
Still in shock! previous beliefs blown to bits!.......2007-06-24
Ha! f--king immortals who would have ever guessed? this book was written in a way by which the average human can gain valuable insight. written in simple language.
The author reminds me of myself quite a bit, as far as initially being fearful and shocked by the concept of us, humans beings, possesing like a secret 3rd eye which would allows for us to see things and go to places simply by concentrating & adjusting our vibrations.
My reflections after reading:
1. I realized that alot of the things in the Bible, Koran, etc are very much valid. its just that the old scriptures are written in 2000 year old language. The idea of different religions is something like an exaggeration & lead by fanatics who dont realize that everyone is right.
2. Most fanatics are driven by one thing..."fear". Fear truly is the mind killer! my experience has helped me to embrace a more logical belief. There should be a human religion as we are all connected!
We should not fear each other.
This book will bring you 1 step closer to what we really "REALLY" are....1 step closer 2 truth.
Okay...........2007-02-18
This is an interesting book to read, BUT, Robert Monroe's books, especially the first (Journeys Out Of the Body) and third (Ultimate Journey) are better, in my opinion -- especially if you are looking for a method.
Robert Monroe had more, deeper, and better-understood OOBE's. Peterson definitely got out there, but his insights were not as good. I think some of his interpretations may be just plain erroneous. Also, Peterson often had a lot of trouble getting out. It's clear from his list of exercises for developing consciousness and getting OOB that he has a particular mindset or mental type which is different from Monroe's (and from mine). It doesn't have to be that hard to "get out," so Peterson is probably experiencing doubts, fears, ambivalence. Or maybe he has a different astral er, "constitution"?
That said, there are different flavors of ice cream for a reason, and for some people Peterson might be just the right one. I did like the way he included material about working, riding the bus to work, etc. which brought the whole body of material "down to earth", made it more believable, and showed the reader how Peterson fit into the everyday world.
This book is available for free online.
It worked for me..........2007-01-01
I became interested when my brother had a spontaneous OOBE. If he could do it, I could do it, right? So I did my homework. Read Monroe's stuff and a few others.
THIS book absolutely was the key. I was successful in developing a discipline for consistent OOBEs. NB: It wasn't easy for me. It took a lot of practice, a lot of experimenting, and a lot of patience.
just to entretain.......2006-11-25
I read all the reader reviews(about 39 of them). they all say how great, amaizing, interesting and real this book is.
But not even one of them has said they achieved at least one voluntary OBE thanks to this book. Thats a faillure rate of 100% meaning this book is not usefull.
Book Description
The sequel to Monroe's Journey Out Of The Body is an amazing parapsychological odyssey that reflects a decade of research into the psychic realm beyond the known dimensions of physical reality.

Disappointing!.......2007-03-04
I read this book because I wanted to know about the mysteries of life, what's out there in the afterlife, in the big picture. In this book we get this bizarre sci-fi-like story that doesn't go much of anywhere. His "insights" into what life is all about are so limited by his white-male worldview. I'm not saying that as some liberal arsty cultural studies type person, I just really can't believe that the big picture is so reflective of that worldview. According to Monroe, life is all about fear and scrambling around for money, and men rule the world. We're all just a bunch of cows gathering "loosh" for no reason that is explained with any depth. It just doesn't make sense to me that people on earth are like batteries, that the cosmos would work in such a mundane-sounding way. I came away from the book feeling like what he experienced is more reflective of his own worldview than what is really going on in the cosmos. I don't need the big picture to be all love and light, but his ideas are just so... pedestrian.
Most frustrating is that he does not ask why enough. He does not ask his guides enough questions. What the heck? It is so frustrating. The book answers so few questions.
Superb and fascinating information.......2006-08-11
This is the best book on the market about Astral Projection and what happens afterwards. I admire Monroe enormously. He has done valuable research for mankind, and even though many of us cannot/or will not have an out-of-body, for fear or other limitations, at least we know step by step how to do it and what to expect. The Bible of AP!
Incomprehensible Gibberish.......2006-07-26
I recently read Robert Monroe's first book, "Journeys Out of Body" and found it to be a disappointment - it was just weird. As I noted in my review of that book, I had hoped that the author would discuss his use of sound, for which he is allegedly noted. As I purchased this book at the same time and had nothing else to read, I thought I'd give it a try.
The book did start out with a brief discussion of some of his "research" and I thought that, perhaps, this book might actually have some real substance. That belief; however, quickly disappeared. By the time I had reached the half-way point in the book, nothing remained but a schizophrenic quagmire of incomprehensible gibberish. How does total garbage like this manage to get printed?!
There are those that claim that Monroe was a highly left-brained individual who delved into the realm of the creative right-brain. If this book is any indication, one can't help but wonder if Monroe was missing his entire left hemisphere! There is nothing logical or, for that matter, even coherent in the babble spewed across the endless pages of this book. It would have been worthwhile if Monroe had actually described his experiments and resulting data in a scientific manner. Instead, he chose to spew his incoherent ramblings about his own, personal, dream experiences: these wander so aimlessly, from paragraph to paragraph, that one can't help but wonder what real point, if any, he was trying to make.
The really sad thing is that I had really hoped to find a genuinely scientific study of his work - I was actually quite interested in the topic. Having now been subjected to two of his useless books, I'm amazed that they're still in print. This is pseudo-science at its absolute worst.
Far Journeys Review.......2006-07-03
I am so passionate about this book. It has answered all the life questions I have ever held. Although many people I have recommended it to have reported that they have not been able to "get into it" - for me, I would say it is the best book I have ever read.
This is about the 5th copy I have purchased because when I lend it out, somehow it is not returned and I want to have a copy to re-read every now and then. (I will not be lending this one again)

Don't you love it when you pick up a book that immediately explains experiences you've had but had no explanation for when they occurred? This doesn't happen often, but it might with Astral Dynamics, Robert Bruce's straightforward how-to manual on astral projection. Perhaps you've had a spontaneous out-of-body experiences and didn't know it! This extensive tome teaches you everything you need to know to accomplish successful, planned out-of-body travel; how to exit the body, how to get around on the astral plane, and how to get back in with solid, provable memories of the event. Bruce writes very clearly and uses down-to-earth terminology so that you learn not only how to create a "real-time double" to astrally project but also about the physics of the nonphysical world. Out-of-body experiences can be so confusing that enjoying them or employing them usefully can be a serious challenge. Fortunately, Bruce now brings his 25 years of interdimensional experience to the aid of astral explorers the world over, and everywhere else too. --P. Randall Cohan

Quite simply: it works.......2007-10-05
I'm just a housewife, I bought the book, read it, followed faithfully the exercises, and it works. That's all I need to say I think.
we as a collective are onto something here.......2007-09-12
Robert Bruce is the real deal. i just got this book a couple weeks ago and havent started reading it until today, the reason??!! I had 4 out of body experiences astral travel this morning when i went back to sleep and from what i saw in my travels i was amazed. Readingg the first chapter of this book i can make alot of sense on what i encountered when i left my physical body into my ethreal body. Ive had these experiences before out of body but i thought they were just very powerful and emotional lucid dreams. I havent read this whole book i just started today and im on the 2nd chapter and Robert stated that he wrote this to share knowledge with other people and man i believe him. Everything in my astral travels he talked about i found similar situations. I have a feeling to be adept at astral travel you must be more evolved person though but maybe someone who is sensitive person. This is just a hunch im sure people from all walks of life can astral travel. Im just starting to research this starting today tonight whatever im reading im reading this book and if i have another trip tonight oh god im only 33 years old i want to master this because some of the things i saw the magic flying through walls, seeing an enchanted city, flying to another part of the world or dimension where i was in some beautiful condominium and saw some old man there just going about his daily business...i dont know this is exciting!! Its just weird that this book was about to be read and ive had these expereinces in the past but i thought they were lucid dreams but ive said that already. I think Robert Bruce is the real deal and i think we are on to something for those for a thirst for adventure and to fulfill your fanstasies on a different plane.
A Captivating read.......2007-08-19
It took for me more than a month to finish this book amidst all the other day-to-day activities. I am happy that the book kept things interesting all thru-out. Robert Bruce can be immediately recognized as one who has had first-hand experiences about the things he writes about. He is also frank in admitting that he does not know for certain about various phenomenon and gives plausible theories for them and urges the reader to find out the truth. This gives greater credibility to the author and his words and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. This book is a great companion (or in fact the primary partner) for Rob's other book: Mastering Astral Projection.
Highly Recomended.......2007-08-16
This particular book I bought on a whim, as I collect material for my library on astral travel. I was very highly impressed by this one, especially due to how very effectively and efficiently the exercises in this book were. Robert Bruce's methods for working with the human energy field appear to be exceptionally well thought out and worked well for me.
I will warn the potential reader that the author is neither kidding nor exaggerating when he speaks of the intensity (sometimes a bit alarming)of the sensations produced when one begins working with the minor chakras of the hands and feet. The last thing I ever expected while doing them in the car was to have bone deep bubbling sensations that tickled me so strongly that I almost flew out of my seat! These sensations took effect the very first time I did the exercises and have occurred spontaneously since then, and have gotten stronger over time. My astral experiences have likewise been refined using these techniqes more than any others I have ever utilized.
The only two complaints I have that keep me from giving this book five stars are the author's tendency to ramble on about his personal religious views and how constantly he keeps extolling that his methods work better than those of anyone else. To me, the former is interesting, but not necessarily relevant to those of a non Christian religious base (they could even be seen as preachy and biased) and the latter seems almost like Robert Bruce either has an ego complex or is trying to bring in money for his teaching program. If either is the case, this book is not the place for expressing this.
All in all, this work is very well worth your time and money, but read with the awareness that there is advertising and a definite religious bias in place.
Robert Bruce remains in high authority on OBEs!.......2007-07-24
This book is probably the most informative one you're going to find in relation to out of body experiences. Since he was a child, Robert Bruce has been having OBEs, though at first they were spontaneous. In his adult life he began to develop methods that he could use to consciously trigger the projection reflex to cause an OBE to happen purposefully. Included in this invaluable book is the NEW (New Energy Ways) system. With the groundbreaking techniques employed in the NEW system, Bruce teaches you how to move energy throughout the energy body and develop your energy centers or, chakras as they are known in eastern traditions, to help give you a fully charged, fully remembered out of body experience.

Joseph McMoneagle was one of the original remote viewers recruited into the military's Project Stargate, a once secret army project designed to use trained remote viewers for spying during the cold war. For the uninitiated, remote viewing (often referred to as RV) is a skill that allows a person (viewer) to envision events, people, or objects that are not within eyesight--in another room or in another country (and sometimes in the future).
McMoneagle believes that anybody can be trained in remote viewing (no psychic gifts required). However, it requires a huge commitment and a highly disciplined mind. Using the analogy of martial arts, McMoneagle sees RV training in levels, starting with white belt where viewers can expect to see a gestalt (an overall impression) of a target. By the time readers reach the red-black belt-great master, McMoneagle claims they will have gained "a near-perfect union of one's paranormal talent blended within extant reality. People who reach this level no longer have to think about it, they simply do." Although readers won't become a great master by reading this one book, McMoneagle does provide a comprehensive training program as well as important chapters on the ethics, protocol, and applications of remote viewing. --Tara West

Like this book.........2007-09-06
I got this book and I like it, I also would recommend another book "Mastering Remote viewing:Remote Viewing, Third Eye & Astral Projection" by Sapphire.
With both of these books will speed up your remove viewing abilities.
Remote Viewing with Ethics.......2007-03-13
At last, a book about remote viewing that includes ethics; although I would have liked to see the ethical remarks a little earlier in the book. As a professional clairvoyant in Glastonbury, England, I am often saddened by the lack of ethical judgment offered by some. However I do not agree that clairvoyants just 'read minds'. If I do that, how do I provide an accurate reading for someone who sent me an e-mail and whom I never get to meet?
There is still room for discussion and discussion that I would welcome.
It is interesting to see though, that much of what the author suggests, I do naturally. That said the ideas for training are invaluable, both for working with students and for improving one's own remote viewing.
The author leaves me with questions, like for instance, how is it that I can link into a friend (with their prior permission) and see what they are doing, and where they are, just by thinking about them? Will the author write more books on the wider subject of psychic skills and if so when? I await the next book with anticipation.
Best Book on Increasing your Perception by Remote Viewing........2006-12-16
This book will not make you an 'Einstein' overnight.Yet,it will increase your awareness of events and presence of objects, from the past and present.People who are closed-minded and expect quick results, will be disappointed by this book. After you read it,and you feel lost or confused, put the book aside.Go about your life and read some other books, other than remote viewing ones. When you're ready for a second closer reading,go for it.Today's ,'Information Overload',may be hampering your mental ability to absorb the steps toward accurate remote viewing.I can only say, this book was helpful and clarifying for me.
You either 'get' it or you don't.......2006-07-16
I like this book because McMoneagle uses practical, no nonsense ways to evaluate people for this ability, and the bottom line is that you either 'got it' or you don't. If you're into 'woo-woo' and all the theatrics of psychic work, or think that there is some magical formula aside from self-confidence, self-understanding, and common sense, you won't get much out of this book.
However, if you possess those above qualities, along with an inquiring mind, broad knowledge and a sense of adventure, you might be cut out for doing RV, and will do well at it. His rules for doing RV make a lot of sense, and a lot of what he has to say 'clicks' with my own experience in this. This will become part of my own 'training' collection.
A good guide for the beginner.......2006-06-20
I've been experimenting with remote viewing for a couople of years now and McMoneagle's book REMOTE VIEWING SECRETS is a pretty solid book for the beginner. It explains the history and provides some nice case stories about RV.

Book Description
In 1958, a successful businessman named Robert Mornroe began to have experiences that drastically altered his life. Unpredictably, and without his willing it, Monroe found himself leaving his physical body to travel via a "second body" to locales far removed from the physical and spiritual realities of his life. He was inhabiting a place unbounded by life or death.
Monroe recorded these experiences in two bestselling, landmark books, Journeys Out of the Body and Far Journeys. Ultimate Journey, his final and career-defining work, takes us further than we thought possible--and reveals to us what it all means.
Ultimate Journey charts that area which lies "over the edge," beyond the limits of the physical world. It presents us with a map of the "interstate"--the route that opens to us when we leave our physical lives, with their entry and exit ramps, their singposts and their hazards. It also tells us how Monroe found the route and travelled it, and uncovered the reason and the purpose of this pioneering expedition. It is a journey that reveals basic truths about the meaning and purpose of life--and of what lies beyond.
After six hardcover printings, the trade paperback edition of Ultimate Journey, will offer an even wider range of readers this exhilarating reading experience, the masterwork of one of the most daring and original thinkers and explorers of our time.

Beware: Overrated Misinformation.......2007-06-06
I read the second book of his, and it left me pretty empty, I felt like it answered so few questions, and I found the objectivity of his point of view questionable. Having read the first 100 pages of this book, and in between having read other sources of information, now I get it: He is just full of it! From reading the second book, I learned a little about his life, about he was this wealthy businessman. To me that was a red flag that his work were not to be trusted, but I figured I should not be too prejudiced. However, know this: more often than not, someone so materially successful and influential will be aligned, perhaps loosely, with the evil element of the world. Different people have different names for it: the psychopaths, the reptilians, the illuminati, the new world order, the patriarchy... Whatever the name, anyone who really takes a look, does the research to try and see what is going on the in world, without burying their head in the sand fluff-bunny-new-ager-style, sees the evil element that rules the world, that leads all branches of mainstream thought or movements, even new agey stuff like this.
But it's not just about him being a wealthy businessman. He worked for the CIA, whose evil activities are a matter of public record. Most of all, in his books he puts forth this very selfish, greedy, egotistical, chauvinistic worldview as if that's "The Way it Is"... as if the whole of human history took place in the financial district of New York City in the 80's or something.
The idea that this book should be taken with a grain of salt really hit home when I came to part when he discusses the relationship between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. That part is patent nonsense that doesn't even agree with himself, not to mention what everyone else has written also.
I give this book an extra star though because it is an interesting read. However, it is so hard to tell where the B.S. ends and the truthful information begins. Perhaps Monroe did have good intentions, perhaps he was just unknowingly misled by his life experiences and other people. In either case, realize that is book is misinformation, but like most misinformation, it served up surrounded by plenty of truthful information too.
Far reaching account of an important theme.......2007-04-10
I read this book in the early 90s shortly after it came out. I had read the other 2 books of the same author before and this tops them all - and with a bang! I still measure all OBE literature against this classic and most fall short. - absolutely recommended reading even for the OBE illiterate.
Not sure how real it all is..........2007-03-30
I have now read all three of the late Dr. Monroe's books and in the correct sequence, but I'm still not totally convinced of the reality of his 'journeys'. My readings in Buddhism and other spiritual systems tend to support his experiences, at least to some degree, but much of what I've read in the many NDE (near death experiences) accounts and studies that I've read (cf. Ring, Valarino, et al) don't quite match up. Where is the tunnel of light? etc. Nothing much about Karma either. But reincarnation is neatly confirmed and then some.
In his favor, I don't see any reason why he would invent this material. He was already independently wealthy when he started writing and didn't seem to have any need or want for public attention. More importantly, he set up his Institute which has been functional for several decades now and enjoined the cooperation of many leading scientists etc. and it has produced numerous useful papers and books.
Also his work in hemi-sync research is much respected by other scholars, even utilized by the US Army and elsewhere, and the hemi-sync is the fundamental tool he had used to facilitate others entering into the states of altered consciousness which have led to their own parallel experiences which sort of confirm his.
Above all, he tries to present all this in a calm and fairly objective, almost scientific manner, without the usual touchy-feely trendy 'New Age' kinds of wishful thinking that so often pollute these kinds of subjects.
Still... In his earlier 'Far Journeys' and in this volume, there is a certain amount of flippant or pseudo-humorous, near-comical material, e.g. with respect to 'KT-95' and its denizens and their activities and interests, and the conversations he has with entities from there, as well as the conversations he has with the INSPECs (i.e. himself, as it turns out!). All of that seems to me to be almost silly rather than reflective of any reality he encountered.
He does gradually bring all the material into a kind of all-inclusive theory or presentation of the purpose of life, our origins, etc., and (mostly) what happens to the 'soul' or 'essence' of us when we depart, and it all rounds in as something pleasant, happy, and optimistic - in other words exactly what the average reader wants to hear. And he may have been right about it all, but it could also be just a little too good to be true.
I think that his first book 'Journeys out of the Body' was far and away the most interesting and best-written. As for this one, oh well, even if what he writes isn't really true after all, if nothing else it is at least quite entertaining.
Incredible.......2007-02-11
It may get a confusing if you haven't read the previous books, but this is an amazing and thought-provoking read.
Best of the Trilogy.......2006-01-07
This is my favorite of the Monroe books but it helps to read all three in order. I think that the jargon he uses (often times different from other source of knowledge about OBEs or Astral Travel) would otherwise be difficult to grasp. Also it is interesting to see how his perception becomes more refined over time (nearly 20 years from the first book to this one). I think that there is advanced spiritual knowledge here in disguise as a travelouge (albeit astral travelogue).
