Customer Reviews:
Intellectual classic for the whole family.......2007-09-01
The whole family is hooked on this. The classical music that accompanies it is compelling. You think you are there.
Very cool to listen to!.......2007-05-16
Sean Bean does an awesome job on this production. His range of voices and dialects are amazing. Very eerie in the parts that are supposed to be.
Very entertaining.......2007-03-09
It's hard to take such a well known tale and still make it fun to listen to, but Sean Bean's voice and cadences kept me listening to the end.
Great fun.......2007-01-04
We like to listen to audiobooks on long car rides. This one was very well done. Our two children (6&8) loved it.
Great for a family car trip.......2007-01-03
Sean Bean does a wonderful job reading. The classic story kept the kids and parents spellbound during a family road trip.

Great Book.......2002-12-14
Alice in Wonderland is a great book that i very much enjoyed. The story was very interesting and enjoyable. I liked how the author made things symbolize something else. Like the way the rules of the game they were playing were also the rules of the land. Even though this book is intended for young kids, this book is excellent for all ages.

One of the most popular books ever written about childhood charmingly recounts the homelife of four sisters: literary-minded Jo March; Meg, the older sister who marries a young tutor; fashionable and artistic Amy; and gentle, musically inclined Beth. An unforgettable depiction of mid-19th century New England life. Abridged.

Little Women is the heartwarming story of the March family that has thrilled generations of readers. It is the story of four sisters--Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth-- and of the courage, humor and ingenuity they display to survive poverty and the absence of their father during the Civil War.
Customer Reviews:
It's Only the First Half of the Book.......2007-04-29
I bought this book as a gift to impress the receiver. To my shock, the receiver told me the book was very nice indeed but it contained only the first half of the book. I did not see anywhere where we are told about this being only half of the book unless you include the Library Journal description.
This is my favorite book!.......2007-01-10
I have loved this book ever since I was in grade school! I bought this copy because I wanted a nice, hardbound version and I liked the illustrations.
Little Women.......2006-11-10
This is a classic we wanted our grand daughter to read. The illustrations are professional and wonderful
It's not so good as my imagine.......2006-07-24
The words are so crowded. So I won't suggest this one.
Interesting.......2006-07-13
I love to read and have begun reading many classics. My teacher recommended "Little Women" for me to read. So, I went off and bought it at the bookstore. In this edition you read an introductin first which I thought was a bit boring and long. It tells about the back round of the author and how this book was made. This story is broken up into two parts. The story starts out with four girls- Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. Their father is away at war. The first part of the story was too drawn out I thought. There is a description for everything. I did however enjoy reading it. The second part had a lot of action. There are weddings and births, and sadly even a death. It was more paced then the first part. I think Jo had the best character. She was so realistic. All in all, I thought this story was pretty good and I am not disappointed in it. I am very happy I read it. I know it is a classic and I do understand why.

Book Description
Dwarves, giants, princesses, kings, fairies, and magicians ... all can be found in the enchanting fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. Twenty-two of the Grimms' best stories are brought to life in this deluxe edition, from well-known favorites like "Rapunzel," "Red Riding Hood," "Rumpelstiltskin," and "Hansel and Grethel," to lesser-known treasures such as "The Valiant Tailor" and "The Frog Prince." Arthur Rackham's extraordinary interpretations are beautifully reproduced here in 21 full-color plates and 28 black-and-white drawings that lavishly embellish the pages.
Customer Reviews:
AUDIO CD REVIEW.......2006-12-31
Tha actress reading the stories does a very good job. Unfortunatly this CD version of the stories is very abriged, just the bare bones. The choice of predominatly russian music for German folk tales is a bit odd. Still this is the only version I have experianced so it's the best I know of.
BEAUTIFUL BOOK BUT NOT BABY -PRESCHOOL.......2006-06-07
THIS IS A LOVELY BOOK WITH CREAM COLORED PAGES, A RIBBON AND WONDERFUL ILLUSTRATIONS. IT IS NOT HOWEVER "BABY PRESCHOOL"
It is for older readers. Nice translation from the German.
Illustrations are not the same style as on the cover.......2005-05-07
I bought this edition specifically because I wanted to have some illustrations like the ones on the cover (I'm designing some costumes for a production of "Into the Woods" and wanted to use this book as inspiration). However, the illustrations inside the book are not AT ALL like the ones on the cover. I've returned the book and forgot to check, but I would guess that they are not even by the same artist. I love how Amazon now has images within books, however, this one didn't have any of the inside illustrations and so I didn't realize until I recieved the book. I'm still on the search for a book of fairy tales with medieval period illustrations.
A quality children's book.......2004-08-30
This beautifully illustrated book is a delight for Brothers Grimm and Arthur Rackham fans. High quality paper is used throughout so the color plates are presented where they occur in each story, instead of being jammed together in the center. The font is easy to read with ample margins, so the stories can be savored without feeling rushed or the aid of a good light. Well done!
Beutiful stories terribly translated.......2003-12-28
I remember reading and hearing many stories from this book when I was a child and they made quite an impression. This particular translation however leaves a lot to be desired. It seems that some parts were translated word for word and much of the text makes no sense at all.

Terrific stories for road travel with young kids.......2007-06-08
I bought this for my two sons, ages 7 & 9. We put it in at the beginning of a 2.5 hour trip and it kept our entire family very entertained. The trip flew by.
Reddragon.......2007-03-30
The product came quickly. It was exactly as advetised and met expectations. Thank You.
Magnificent!.......2003-12-08
This book is awesome! I read it 3 years ago and I borrowed it again from my aunt and I'm reading it now. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of the Reader's Digest version please post. Thanks!
An excellent collection.......1999-04-12
My four children and I loved reading this collection of stories from Arabia. Though I highly recommend any book by Mr. Lang, The Arabian Nights Entertainments is my favorite. Happy reading!

great kids audio.......2007-06-19
This is a great narration of some great classic tales. Lots of action and best of all, it keeps to the original stories. Kids love it. Hansel and Gretel is slightly scary but then it always was.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful stories.......2007-07-10
We have been reading about one a week for over a year. My girls love these stories! One of our rabbits ended up with the name "Boudacia" after we read her story.
At the beginning they might be more folklore than fact, but none the less they are wonderful. There are some great moral lessons to be learned from many of the stories.
After I bought the Yesterday's Classics I found an old hardback with great color pictures. It cost a bit, but what a treasure!
Highly recommend.
loved this book...........2006-09-07
I read this aloud last spring to my 3 boys, ages 10, 12, and 13. They all really enjoyed it and I enjoyed reading it.
The only (small) negative I could give it is that there are several spelling mistakes-mostly a missing letter in a word. I corrected that as we went along for the next time I read it aloud. It really wasn't a problem but I just thought I should point that out.
We are now reading the sequel about our own country (America) called "This Country of Ours" and enjoying that one as well. I can highly recommend both books, as well as "Fifty Famous Stories Retold" which is usually bought along with these two. That one is especially easy to narrate from as the stories are very short-often just 2 pages.
British History that is fun.......2006-04-15
This is a such a fun history of England. My children love reading this book. We read a couple of chapters aloud each week. We have just started our second time through.
The chapters are relatively short. For the most part, the book is organized chronologically by King (or Queen). Each chapter (or sometimes several chapters) hits the high points of each King or Queen's reign.
Make history come alive for your children by reading this book to them.
This is a nice softcover edition. Check out the publishers other books. You can pretty much assume it is going to be interesting to your children if they have published it. I have several of their books and every one has been a hit with our family.
