Congratulations on Review in Autograph Collector Magazine.......2003-12-09
I received my copy of the January issue of Autograph Collector Magazine and read the review on "The Address Directory & Autograph Collector's Guide" (which I own and use a lot). It received rave reviews as "refreshing, rich in data and this book will keep autograph collectors busy for a long time." Since I have used this book I have been getting better than average responses.
Excellent Customer Service.......2003-09-26
I live in a small town in North Dakota and writing to celebrities is the only way I have to contact them. I have used the "The Celebrity Address Directory" and I am getting fantastic results. I had a couple of return to sender and used the satisfaction guarantee form in the back of the book. I got answers to my requests right away. I contacted the publisher by e-mail and the publisher had the new addresses within minutes! I will stay with this book forever, it is the only one I will ever need.
Good Birthday List of Celebrities.......2003-09-04
I like the way this book gives background information on celebrities. I can always use some useful facts about celebrities when I write to them. I use the celebrity birthday list a lot. It is a good way to break the ice in writing to a celebrity. I usually write to all the celebrities that have the same birthday as me. Other times I just write to the celebrity wishing them a happy birthday. I have had good success this way. Some of the celebrities that have replied to me are Mohammed Ali, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton and Ron Howard.
More Than Addresses.......2003-05-29
When I received my copy of this book I was surprised. It has many top name celebrities and a lot more! I like the lists he has in this book - celebrity birthdays, celebrity charities, celebrity hobbies, top paid entertainers, Rock' Roll Hall of Famers, Nobel Prize winners, places to get in person autographs and via venues -places to send a request where a celebrity is performing. I haven't seen these features in any other celebrity book. Got to go, I have letters to write.
Top Rating.......2003-05-15
I just heard that this book received the No. 1 rating from Autograph Magazine, Congratulations!
Book Description
The new Second Edition of "The Artist-Signed Postcard Price Guide" is the 11th book on postcards by author J.L. Mashburn. It was written specifically for collectors and dealers interested in both U.S. and Foreign artist-signed cards issued from 1898 to 1950. It has 480 pages, lists over 2,300 artists and their works with related values, and contains 730 great photos. This new book can be a valuable asset for all postcard enthusiasts.
Customer Reviews:
Another wonderful book from the expert..........2000-07-07
Mashburn writes terrific books. His Postcard Guide is the best general book out there. He also does specialized postcard books such as this one. Anyone who collects artist-signed postcards will want this book, no question about it.
It is filled with hundreds of pages and pictures of all our favorite artists, like Harrison Fisher, Philip Boileau, Earl Christy, as well as the more obscure yet fabulous artists like Lupiac and others. He covers a variety of categories, like Beautiful Ladies, Beautiful Children, Nudes, Blacks, Sports, and Comics. He includes a reference section in the front which goes over important information such as how to determine the age of a card, grade a card's condition, and so on. My only quibble with this book is that all the inside images are in black and white, and I would have loved to see some in color. Perhaps in the next edition.
If you're looking for a comprehensive reference on Artist-Signed postcards, this is the book to buy.

I e-mailed the publisher to ask for an update of a celebrity address. He was fast with an answer. He also mentioned he has started a new service to autograph collectors. He will answer any question on the subject of autoghaph collecting for FREE!
I will use the e-mail address for finding out autograph prices, how and where to buy and sell autographs plus anything else I can think of. A great offer!
Here's The List of Celebrity Autographs.......2005-02-10
I have known David Moore for many years and he is the only author of celebrity directories that uses and updates his address list on daily basis. For me, here is a list of celebrities who I have contacted and received autographs through the mail. They are: Sarah Jessica Parker, Bill Gates, Roy Clark, Gillian Anderson, Nicholas Cage, Bill Cosby, James Garner, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Gary Trudeau, Olivia Newton-John, Brandi Chastain, James Watson, Sandra Day O'Connor, Harmon Killebrew, George Bush, Betty Ford, Jimmy Carter, Leann Rhimes, Muhammad Ali, Angela Landsbury, Reba McEntire, Jay Leno, Faith Hill, Tommy John, Tom Hanks, Michael Eisner, Nolan Ryan, Tony Bennet, Colin Powell, Robert Duvall, John Mellencamp, Whoopi Goldberg and many others. If you want excellent results and great customer service, I highly recommend David Moore's book.
This Author is an Expert.......2005-01-14
After I purchased this book I contacted the author, Mr. Moore to ask him about collecting autographs by index cards or by photographs. He was prompt and very informative with his reply. If you want questions answered about auotgraph collecting, get in touch with him, you will be happy you did.
Amazing book.......2005-01-11
The reader and reviewer who wrote this book is the ULTIMATE has it right. This book is everything an autograph collector needs. Besides the thousands of celebrity addresses, this book backs up the names with celebrity facts. If you want a complete history of actors it is there under the website named in the book, if you want other facts to write to the celebrity about it is there. (the book has celebrity hobbies, celebrity charities, celebrity birthdays, celebrity hangouts and a lot of useful facts about celebrities)This is the only celebrity directory I will ever need. The price of this book is well worth it!!
A Huge List of Celebrity Addresses.......1999-11-20
I am an autograph collector and I was happy to see how complete this book is. I collect astronauts who have walked on the moon, hi-tech business people such as Bill Gates, movie actors like Tom Hanks and baseball sluggers like Sammy Sousa and Mark McGuire. They are in this books with thousands more. It is well organized and I liked the extra features of sample letters and questions & answers about autograph collecting. It is a very good reference for autograph collectors.

Customer Reviews:
Baseball Autographs.......2007-08-06
Jack does a great job of producing the addresses of players. Just that simple. If you want to write them, here is your resource. Buy it new, don't get it used because you will be throwing money away.
Indispensable, but buy Vol. 11.......2001-07-20
This book is indispensable if you're a baseball autograph collector. I've gotten hundreds of autographs over the years using Jack Smalling's books. And if a letter is returned to you for an out-of-date address, you can simply send a copy of the returned envelope (with old address) to Jack and if he has a new address he'll send it to you for free! He's a heck of a nice guy. I'd also advice anyone buying the book to get on his mailing list (address is in the book) for autograph auctions and sales. I have no relation to Jack other than a satisfied customer, but he's truly the best when it comes to baseball autographs.
One caveat, the edition for sale here on Amazon has been replaced by Vol. 11, which is available on the Baseball America website.
Baseball America's Baseball Autograph Collector's Handbook.......2001-07-04
I have been using Jack Smalling's autograph handbooks for over 5 years (the version shown is edition number 10), and my autograph collection has grown exponentially. If you want to collect autographs of retired baseball players, then this is the book for you!
Baseball autographs.......2000-08-29
What a great book!!! A definate plus for any autograph collector. Very useful, easy to read, gives tips on how to write to a baseball player (past or present). An all around great book, if you love baseball as much as I do, you'll buy this book.
Must Have!.......2000-07-13
If you want free baseball players autographs via the mail... this is a must have book!
Book Description
At an auction that followed the 1998 season, a single baseball sold for more than $3 million. Around the country, hats, bats, cards, jerseys and photos have likewise sold for hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars, and posh auction houses like Sotheby's in New York have become familiar venues to dealers and private collectors. And with the mounting number of challenges to the game's most honored records and the passing of some of its most beloved and recognizable names, baseball memorabilia is increasingly in demand.
This book instructs both the hardened hobbyist and the uninitiated in the best ways to obtain autographed baseball memorabilia, providing insider information on making person-to-person and mail requests, purchasing from dealers and online auctions, and trading and networking with other collectors. The author also suggests a step-by-step approach to designing displays and building specialized, meaningful collections, ranging from the conventional (Hall of Fame autographs) to the unusual (players' handwritten responses to survey questions).

Female Collector.......2000-04-20
This book is great for anybody that has an interest in collecting baseball memorablia. Mr. Zachofsky has unique suggestions for collecting autographs and how to display them.
A wonderful book for collectors!.......2000-04-08
I received this book as a gift and was very impressed with the suggestions and the history it gave. I have since begun creating my own Baseball Memorabilia Room and I have even gotten a few Hall of Famer autographs. I find this book extremely helpful for any collectors, experienced or new to the hobby. I think this book is fantastic and it is the "BIBLE" of any collecting manual. With the upcoming baseball season, it really makes a great read especially if you're interested in starting a memorabilia room. The forward to the book is written by one of my all time favorites, Duke Snider -- very impressive! Also, I love the pictures that are included! I highly recommend this book!
neophyte collector of baseball memorabilia.......2000-04-03
After 5 years of struggling collecting baseball memorabilia, I've finally found the magna carta for this fascinating hobby. Attempting to collect the key signatures for this hobby is the ultimate goal. Collecting Baseball Memorabilia A Handbook makes it easy, enjoyable and is a great investment. Lastly, since I've purchased this book, I've added 5 Hall of Famers to my collection without the stress because of the knowldedge found in this book.
Baseball Memories.......2000-03-31
Since collecting baseball cards many years ago I have always been an admirer of Baseball memorabilia collections. I never started on because it always seemed too difficult. This book makes it easy. From the aficionado to the novice, from the young to the old, this book encompasses all aspects for starting, adding to, or preserving a baseball collection. Amazing insight into the collecting world it gives great advice and tips that are so valuable to a new or even seasoned collector. This book is the "Ball Four" for collectors as it gives an insiders view from someone did it. It has interesting comments and synopsis of Hall of Famers and baseball park and team information. Concise and easy to read with great photos and a foreword by the "Duke of Flatbush",my hero. A must read for anyone into collecting or who enjoys baseball memories.
Customer Reviews:
Vastly Inflated Prices, even by 2007 standards.......2007-03-18
I have multiple editions of this book, and I have always enjoyed them. However, after years of collecting autographs, I have come to the conclusion that the prices they list have no basis in reality. They are usually highly inflated. I would guess the prices are what dealers would like to get for their autographs, but I don't think they usually do.
No Sports.......2007-01-16
Disappointed that it didn't contain any information on collecting sports stars autographs. Will have to purchase another one for that information
Enhanced Lists.......2006-08-05
I have past versions of this excellent reference but this one includes more of the signatures that I have that previously were not included.
Thanks for expanding your lists.
Linda Stiles
Fantastic value.......2006-03-09
love the book, love the service, love the convenience. It is an invaluable resource for anyone that might be the least bit interested in purchasing autographs.
It is about time.......2004-08-05
There are no more precious artifacts in human history then the primary sources dealing in the written word. Historic letters, manuscripts and documents are the cornerstones of civilization and the best "collectible" investment on the market. For all too long the "Autograph" Ephemera field has lacked a true and consistant indicator of signed letters, manuscripts and documents value until this new issue of Sanders Price Guide. When a client calls me and asks what the value is of an autographed document I now refer them to this Price Guide - Period. Hats to Richard Saffro, Jim Smith and the Price Guide Researchers.

Big thick book of Autographs.......2006-11-03
This is the ultimate reference book for autograph collectors. More than 15000 names are listed in all categories. From Babe Ruth to George Washington to Madonna, this volume covers notables from dozens of subcategories. Includes more than 800 facsimile signatures. Most of the book is simply pages of columns telling the name, date of birth, and value of the signature. The last column is for comments about the person and this usually tells their profession. If you collect autographs this is a must have reference.
Comprehensive to say the least.......2000-05-23
I don't know if there are many people out there who can lay claim to a Louis XIII autograph, or even a George Washington autograph. If they did, they probably also have Jesus Christ on a baseball.
My point is, there are listings for hundreds if not thousands of people whose autographs probably don't even exist. The book is good for referencing celebrities and sports stars, but there are far too many pages dedicated to the various types of William Henry Harrison signatures, and other topics we need not explore.
If this is the "standard guide" it should be a little more up to date. I would rather see five facimilies of a Robert De Niro or a Mickey Mantle autograph than of somebody who has been dead for 500 years, because you know what-- chances are I won't be getting their signature any time soon, so I won't need to compare it to a facimile.
This book is a very comprehensive price guide for today's celebrities and sports stars, which is why I give it a four star rating. But if the book spent less time dealing with signatures from centuries ago, and more time dealing with the stars of today and tommorow (I got Heidi Klum's sig the other day, and she isn't listed-- she is probably one of the most famous models in the world), it would truly be the best autograph guide out there.
The Torch Is Passed!.......2000-04-26
Wow, after reading so many books about autographs finally a realistic book enters the market. Unlike the Sanders guide it it deals with values at a realistic level and why not Baker has written more books about the subject than any other author in this genre. Not since Charles Hamilton's books on the subject have I ever learned so much, Bravo!
Copy of Sanders.......1999-12-03
I'm not a fan of monopolies, but in this case, the Sanders Price Guide is the one and only. This book tries to be the "standard?" Sanders is the standard in the field, and while ambitious, this book simply doesn't measure up. Good for facsimilies, but that's about it.
A must have book for the autograph hound !!.......1999-09-30
This huge 608 page volume is loaded to the gills with over 50,000 autograph values covering 15,000 names. More than 1,000 facsimile signatures and photos of autographed items are shown. There are numerous chapters of background information that will be of interest and value to experienced autographers as well as novices. This book covers topics including sports, entertainment, music, artists, literary, business, medicine, space, heads of state and much, much more. The index alone is over 70 pages!! It provides accurate pricing, informative insight into market trends and many current topics. A super reference book.

All the world is an open book.......1998-10-08
For John Schlimm II, that cliche couldn't hold a more personal meaning. The avid autograph seeker, having amassed a collection of more than 1,000 signatures tried in vain...to find a "good book" on his hobby. So, in the summer of 1994 he began writing one. The book was written in such a manner...that readers are able to learn how to write to specific people...the school projects are written for every subject, every grade level.

Everything you need in an autograph book!.......1999-08-11
This book tells you everything you need to know on autographs. A must buy
A CLASSIC IN NEED OF AN UPDATE.......1999-01-09
Baker's book is the definitive work in the growing baseball autograph hobby.
It's too bad his publisher has not commissioned an update. The book is nearly ten years old and as such it's now about 25 players short and the autograph values are now just wishful thinking. Babe Ruth signatures for $495 -- I'll take a dozen!
Regardless of its age spots, if you are considering entering the hazardous world of baseball autograph collecting this book will be your core reference.
The most examples of baseball autographs in one place.......1998-12-26
Mr Baker has written the best book on baseball autographs. The book is profusely illustrated with examples of hall of fame and famous baseball players' signatures. The author is especially sensitive to aging characteristics and changes in style.
Most thorough work of its kind.......1998-12-19
This is the best book of its kind with many samples. Very knowledgable about all aspects of the subject, especially aging characteristics of signers. Would definitely purchase the next edition when it comes out.
A great reference for the collector of HOF autographs!.......1998-11-01
The book contains examples of most Hall of Fame baseball players autographs. As much as has been made about fraud in the hobby, it is an extremely helpful tool to research and compare before purchasing or trading for a signature!
